Physical sanitation of the house and parent’s behavior are the factors that could affect the incidence of ARI in children under five. The aim of this research was to analyze what factors of house physical sanitation that affect the occurrence of ARI among children under five in East Kalianget Village. This research was an observational research, with cross sectional design. The samples in this research were 60 children under fives randomly chosen through simple random sampling. Data collection was done through interview, observation, thermohygrometer, roll meter, lux meter, and EPAM 5000. Data was analyzed using chi-square and binary logistic regression analysis. The results showed that children under five’s bedroom density (p=0.241) was affecting the occurrence of ARI among children under five, meanwhile ventilation area (p=0.241), air temperature (p=0.948), humidity (p=0.830), and lighting (0.393) were not affecting the occurrence of ARI among children under five. Communities of East Kalianget Village that have unsuitable occupancy density are suggested to reset the number of their bedroom’s occupants, for example maybe a father sleeping in the living room to prevent the occurrence of ARI among children under five.

Expansion of state-regulation of education and care for under-fives in England has seen increasing numbers of under-fives attending primary school early years provision in the 21st century’s opening decades. However, this is not entirely novel as under-fives attending elementary school feature in numerous 19th and 20th century reports. This article examines how under-fives have been discursively constructed in three reports between 1861 and 1933. Changing conceptualizations of under-fives are reflected in these documents. Shifting discourses of schooling, child development and curriculum are deployed, adapted or silenced to frame and judge the personal, social and moral conduct of the young child and parent. This normalizing discursive gaze positions the spaces and practices of schooling as necessary interventions inculcating specific governmentally designated desirable aspects of the child. Under-fives are enmeshed in an advancing process of educational colonization that removes them from the home, coming to dominate their time and experiences as young children. Current trends towards earlier school starting ages, longer daily hours, and the forensic use of data to chart progress towards expected goals is extension of this pattern. Attending to the genealogy of the discursive rationalization of this process helps us to critique how similar contemporary policy arguments are made.

An eighth-grade student, was able to memorize multiplication facts (0 to 10) for the zeroes to fives with 100% accuracy. In a previous study [1] the student used skip counting and her hands to recall all the facts for the ones to fives. The overall goal of the current study was to improve the student’s automaticity of multiplication facts (0-10) for the ones through fives, such as 4 x 6 = 24. The student had been taught multiplication concepts in her elementary years and she did have a basic understanding of the meaning of multiplication facts as shown in the previous study. She understood that 4 x 6 is a representation of four sets of six or 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 24. The student had used skip counting and flash cards with illustrations of the multiplication facts to memorize the multiplication facts. In the current study a multiple baseline design was used to measure the acquisition of fluency of multiplication facts over time. The student was able to develop automaticity with 80% accuracy by giving the solution within 3 seconds for all of the facts (0-10) for the ones through fives.

The incidences of pneumonia in infants Become the second highest cause mortality before reaching the age of 5 years and a health problem in Indonesia. The family of smoking and smoke from burning mosquito coils are the triggers for air pollution, which can lead to pneumonia in infants. The study aims to analyze the relationship between family smoking habits and the use of mosquito coils with the incidence of pneumonia in under-fives. The method of research applied analytic observational research using a case-control study approach. The number of samples in this study was 87 under-fives in the case group and 87 under-fives in the control group. Sampling was conducted by non-probability sampling. A questionnaire was used as a data collecting instrument. Data analysis used chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The results of this study Showed that there was a relationship between family smoking habits and the use of mosquito coils with the incidence of pneumonia in infants. In addition, there were other variables that had a relationship with the incidence of pneumonia in under-fives namely smoking location (OR = 3,046; 95% CI: 1429-6492, p = 0.003), the number of cigarettes (OR = 7.105 ; 95% CI: 3079-16394, p = 0.000), and length of time with smokers (p = 0.000). On the other hand, the variables of father smoker status and the frequency of using mosquito coils were not related to the incidence of pneumonia in under-fives (p value 0.05). It is concluded that family smoking habits, use of mosquito coils, the location of smoking, and number of cigarettes, and length of time together with smokers were risk factors associated with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers

In 1999, Germans celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Federal Republic. Unlike the fiftieth anniversary of other events in the recent national past—the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, the anti-Jewish pogrom of November 1938, and the unconditional surrender in 1945—this is not an awkward occasion for the country’s elites. On the contrary, the Federal Republic is indisputably Germany’s most successful state, and its record of stability and prosperity compares favorably with that of two prominent neighbors, France and Italy. This anniversary gives us pause to pose the basic questions about West Germany. How was it possible to construct an enduring democracy for a population that, exceptions notwithstanding, had enthusiastically supported Hitler and waged world war to the bitter end?

Background: Micronutrient deficiency seriously contributes to child morbidity and mortality. The need for micronutrient can be fulfilled from food, fortified food, and direct supplementation. Taburia is multivitamin multimineral that is aimed to meet the need for micronutrient of undernourished under-fives and to prevent the increased prevalence of undernourishment. It is necessary efficacy and effectiveness study of Taburia to anemia and nutritional status of undernourished under fives of 24-55 months. Objective: To identify the effect of Taburia supplementation to anemia and nutrition status of under fives at District of Lombok Timur.Method: The study was experimental with prospective cohort study design carried out at District of Lombok Timur, Province of Nusa Tenggara Barat. The subject of the study was undernourished under fives at the area of Nutrition Improvement Community through Empowerment (NICE) project. The independent variables were Taburia and biscuits; the dependent variables were anemia and nutrition status; and the external variables were the intake of energy, protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, Fe, and zinc. Data analysis used ANOVA and paired t-test.Results: There was a significant difference in the average level of hemoglobin of the subject after the intervention, either in taburia group, biscuit group, or taburia+biscuit group (p<0.05). There was the difference in average weight after intervention in the three groups (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the average level of hemoglobin and the average level of weight between biscuit group and Taburia+biscuit group. There was a change in anemia status from anemia to nonanemia; the highest was in Taburia group, i.e. 96%; and better nutrition status at the end of the experiment occurred at Taburia+biscuit group from emaciated to normal (100%).Conclusion: Taburia supplementation could increase anemia status. Micronutrient supplementation was needed to increase nutrition status.

Background Marking the end of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) era, governments continue their plans via the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the MDGs that has continued is the reduction in under-five mortality. Even though the trend of under-five mortality in Indonesia is decreasing, more efforts are needed to reduce the under-five mortality rate. Objective To determine the individual and contextual factors of the under-five survival rate and to assess for possible characteristics that may lead to variance among regencies in Indonesia. Methods Data from 2015 Intercensal Population Survey (Survei Penduduk Antar Sensus/SUPAS 2015) in Indonesia were analyzed using multilevel survival analysis. The Intercensal Population Survey covers all regions in Indonesia up to the regency level. Data were collected by direct interviews of selected household members, with regards to demographic and household characteristics, including births and deaths of under-fives. Our sample population was limited to all under-fives who were born and died during the 2010-2015 period. The number of subjects analyzed was 219,413 after exclusion of children with incomplete data. Results Individual factors associated with under-five survival rate were maternal education, maternal age at first birth, work status, sex, previous birth interval, type of birth, place of residence, and sanitation level. The contextual factor (health care facility ratio per 1000 under-fives per regency) was not associated with under-five survival rate. The 5.27% variance can be explained by the differing characteristics among regencies. Conclusion The individual factors affecting the survival of under-fives are maternal education, maternal age at first birth, maternal work status, sex, previous birth interval, type of birth, place of residence, and sanitation level.
