"Abstract: The present study undertakes a reinterpretation of the tile stamp published for the first time by D. Tudor in 1965 with the reading FANIUS, interpreted as a civilian tile workshop owner. Even though no other stamps pertaining to this civilian tile manufacturer have been discovered at Drobeta, this particular stamp was interpreted in the same way in all subsequent publications. Our reading shows that is a tile stamp with the abbreviated name of the Legio V Macedonica, in the form V (quinta) Mac(edonica) retrograde. This new type completes the series of legion’s abbreviated name on tile stamps known from Drobeta. Key-words: tile stamp; Drobeta; Legio V Macedonica. Rezumat: Se reia lectura unei ştampile tegulare publicată de către D. Tudor în anul 1965, care citea FANIUS şi considera că este un antroponim, un producător civil de material tegular. Deşi nu s-au mai descoperit la Drobeta ştampile aparţinând acestui producător civil, ştampila apare intrepretată astfel în toate publicaţiile ulterioare. În realitate este o ştampilă cu numele legiunii V Macedonica abreviat V (quinta) Mac(edonica) în redare dextrogradă. Noua variantă se adaugă ştampilelor tegulare ale legiunii V Macedonica cunoscute la Drobeta, completând repertoriul acestora. Cuvinte cheie: ştampilă tegulară; Drobeta; Legio V Macedonica. "

Transgenerational Memory: From Pre-Holocaust to Post-YugoslaviaThe study focuses on Fanika as an example of documentary writing by firstand second-generation survivors, i.e. women in the mother-daughter relationship (Hanna Altarac/Fanika Lučić and Branka Jovičić), both from Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. The timeline of the life story of Hanna/Fanika, born in 1922 in a Sephardic family from Sarajevo, coincides on the macro level with the history of Yugoslavia (the establishment of the state and the interwar period, World War Two and the Holocaust, the postwar socialist period, the break-up of the country and post-Yugoslavia), which is important for the contextualization of the narrative. We have analyzed the motivation of first-generation survivor Fanika Lučić to present her memories of the Holocaust, highlighting the importance of communicative memory as an instrument of their transmission to a second-generation survivor as well as the process involved in their transfer from private to public narrative. Further analysis refers to the generic frames of the narrative, its hybrid character, and its liminal position at a point where biography and autobiography meet and interact. Mediation is a key procedure in Fanika, so attention has been dedicated to determining the degrees of mediation, their variation throughout the narrative and their impact on the substructures (narrative segments). Finally, we have identified, interpreted, and contextualized several gender markers appearing at various levels of the text. In conclusion, the book was designed not only to transmit the Holocaust testimony of Fanika Lučić, but also to provide a biographical account of her life in socialist Yugoslavia, her experience of the war in Bosnia, and the final phase of her life as a Canadian immigrant. Transgenerational memory and gender play a key role in the hybrid structure of this book, which is a welcome contribution to Yugoslav Holocaust literature. Pamięć międzypokoleniowa: od czasów przed Holokaustem do okresu postjugosłowiańskiegoArtykuł analizuje książkę Fanika jako przykład prozy dokumentalnej, autorstwa dwóch kobiet należących kolejno do pierwszego i drugiego pokolenia ocalałych z Holokaustu. Są to pochodzące z Sarajewa matka i córka – Hanna Altarac/Fanika Lučic i Branka Jovičic. Ramy czasowe historii życia Hanny/Faniki (ur. 1922 w sefardyjskiej rodzinie) zbiegają się z historią Jugosławii (powstanie państwa i okres międzywojenny, II wojna światowa i Holokaust, powojenny socjalistyczny okres, rozpad kraju i okres postjugosłowiański), co stanowi istotny punkt wyjścia dla kontekstualizacji narracji. W artykule poddano analizie zarówno motywację ocalałej z pierwszego pokolenia Faniki Lučić do przedstawienia swoich wspomnień z Holokaustu, podkreślając znaczenie pamięci komunikacyjnej jako narzędzia służącego do przekazywania wspomnień ocalałemu z drugiego pokolenia, jak i proces transferu wspomnień z narracji prywatnej do publicznej. Dalsza analiza odnosi się do ogólnych ram narracji, jej hybrydowego charakteru i jej pozycji liminalnej w punkcie, w którym biografia i autobiografia spotykają się i współdziałają. Ponieważ mediacja jest procedurą kluczową w Fanice, zwrócono uwagę na określenie stopnia mediacji, jej zmienności poprzez narrację, a także jej wpływu na narracyjne podstruktury (segmenty narracyjne). Wreszcie zidentyfikowano, zinterpretowano i osadzono w kontekście kilka wyznaczników płci pojawiających się na różnych poziomach tekstu. Podsumowując, książka miała na celu nie tylko przekazanie świadectwa o Holokauście Faniki Lučić, ale także przedstawienie biograficznego opisu jej życia w socjalistycznej Jugosławii, jej doświadczeń wojny w Bośni i ostatniej fazy jej życia jako imigrantki w Kanadzie. Pamięć międzypokoleniowa i płeć odgrywają kluczową rolę w hybrydowej strukturze tej książki, która wnosi istotny wkład do jugosłowiańskiej literatury Holokaustu.

AbstractThe letter of safe-conduct to Jewish envoys in Jos. Ant. 14.233 is widely held, following Niese, to have been written by the consul of 161 B.C.E., C. Fannius Strabo although the letter is placed by Josephus among Roman documents that date to 49 B.C.E. The circumstances of the civil war go some way to explaining the extraordinary nature of this document: the element of danger present on Cos in 49 B.C.E., danger that was not present in the second c. B.C.E., the legend PR on the Asian cistophori of C. Fannius and the meaning of the phrase στρατηγòς νπατoς. The letter is addressed to the archons of Cos, a form of address found in the rst but not the second c. B.C.E. Research from the last three decades provide fresh considerations that argue for an identi cation of the author of the letter with C. Fannius, the governor of Asia in 49/8 B.C.E., a date which accords with the chronological position given by Josephus.

Recent advances in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, have made them able to communicate and collaborate, forming flying ad hoc networks (FANETs). FANETs are becoming popular in many application domains, including precision agriculture, goods delivery, construction, environment and climate monitoring, and military surveillance. These interesting new avenues for the use of UAVs are motivating researchers to rethink the existing research on FANETs. Therefore, this paper provides a comprehensive and thorough review of the different types of UAVs used in FANETs, their mobility models, main characteristics, and applications, as well as the routing protocols used in this type of network. Other important contributions of this paper include the investigation of emerging technologies integrated with FANETs.

The ever-increasing demand for flexible and portable communications has led to a rapid evolution in networking between unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) often referred to as flying ad-hoc networks (FANETs). However, due to the exclusive characteristics of UAVs such as high mobility, frequent topology change and 3D space movement, make routing a challenging task in FANETs. Due to these characteristics, designing new routing protocols for FANETs is quite difficult. In the literature study of FANETs, a variety of traditional ad-hoc networking protocols have been suggested and tested for FANETs to establish an efficient and robust communication among the UAVs. In this context, topology-based routing is considered the most significant approach for solving the routing issues in FANETs. Therefore, in this article we specifically focus on topology-based routing protocols with the aim of improving the efficiency of the network in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay, and network load. We present a brief review of the most important topology-based routing protocols in the context of FANETs. We provide them with their working features for exchanging information, along with the pros and cons of each protocol. Moreover, simulation analyses of some of the topology-based routing protocols are also evaluated in terms of end-to-end delay, throughput and network load the using optimized network engineering tools (OPNET) simulator. Furthermore, this work can be used as a source of reference for researchers and network engineers who seek literature that is relevant to routing in FANETs.

Flying ad-hoc networks (FANET) are one of the most important branches of wireless ad-hoc networks, consisting of multiple unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) performing assigned tasks and communicating with each other. Nowadays FANETs are being used for commercial and civilian applications such as handling traffic congestion, remote data collection, remote sensing, network relaying, and delivering products. However, there are some major challenges, such as adaptive routing protocols, flight trajectory selection, energy limitations, charging, and autonomous deployment that need to be addressed in FANETs. Several researchers have been working for the last few years to resolve these problems. The main obstacles are the high mobility and unpredictable changes in the topology of FANETs. Hence, many researchers have introduced reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms in FANETs to overcome these shortcomings. In this study, we comprehensively surveyed and qualitatively compared the applications of RL in different scenarios of FANETs such as routing protocol, flight trajectory selection, relaying, and charging. We also discuss open research issues that can provide researchers with clear and direct insights for further research.

A flying ad hoc network (FANETs), also known as a swarm of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), can be deployed in a wide range of applications including surveillance, monitoring, and emergency communications. UAVs must perform real-time communication among themselves and the base station via an efficient routing protocol. However, designing an efficient multihop routing protocol for FANETs is challenging due to high mobility, dynamic topology, limited energy, and short transmission range. Recently, owing to the advantages of multi-objective optimization, Q-learning (QL)-based position-aware routing protocols have improved the performance of routing in FANETs. In his article, we provide a comprehensive review of existing QL-based position-aware routing protocols for FANETs. We rigorously address dynamic topology, mobility models, and the relationship between QL and routing in FANETs, and extensively review the existing QL-based position-aware routing protocols along with their advantages and limitations. Then, we compare the reviewed protocols qualitatively in terms of operational features, characteristics, and performance metrics. We also discuss important open issues and research challenges with potential research directions.

The background of this research was to examine the performance of homemade urine control materials on urine chloride examination. This study was aimed to test the performance of homemade control materials from addition and spike placebo simulation on urine chloride examination using the Fantus method. This research applied an experimental research method. The stages of the study started with standardization of AgNO3 solution, preparation of urine control materials from addition and spike placebo simulation, as well as calculation of accuracy (%R), bias (%d) and coefficient of variation (%CV). The results showed that the normal and pathological levels of accuracy in the urine control materials from addition were 109.55% and 104.30%, while the accuracy values (%R) ​​for urine control materials from spike placebo simulation, for the normal and pathological levels, were high, 110.07% and 104.54%. The bias values (%d) obtained in the urine control materials from addition with normal and high pathological levels were 9.55% and 4.30% bias, while the bias values (%d) in the urine control materials from spike placebo simulation with normal and high pathological levels were 10.07% and 4.54%. The coefficient variation (%CV) values ​​in urine control materials from addition at normal and pathological high levels were 3.75% and 3.07%, while the %CV values ​​in urine control materials from spike placebo simulation at normal and high pathological levels were 4.55% and 3.11%. This study concludes that based on the accuracy (%R) and bias (%d) parameters, the homemade control materials from addition and spike placebo simulation have relatively good performance for urine chloride examination using the Fantus method. Meanwhile, based on the parameter of coefficient of variation (%CVV), the homemade control materials from the addition and spike placebo simulation have slightly lower performance for examining urine chloride with the Fantus method.

O objetivo deste estudo consiste em analisar como os discursos humorísticos materializados em postagens e comentários do grupo Fanfics corporativas se constituem como estratégias de resistência diante da racionalidade neoliberal, pois parodiam, satirizam e tornam risíveis práticas e condutas concernentes ao campo empresarial e corporativo e, por extensão, ao paradigma neoliberal. O aparato teórico que norteia esta investigação repousa nos postulados de Foucault (2008; 2010), de Dardot e Laval (2016) e de Possenti (2010). A metodologia segue uma perspectiva descritivo-interpretativa de natureza qualitativa. O corpus compreende quatro postagens e vinte comentários publicados no grupo Fanfics corporativas em dezembro de 2021. As análises atestam que os recursos linguístico-discursivos mobilizados para a construção do humor, como a paródia e a ironia, constituem estratégias de resistência em relação às vontades de verdade da racionalidade neoliberal, pelo fato de inserirem os discursos vinculados a tal racionalidade no esteio da fantasia, da fabulação e da ficção, destituindo-os de certa confiabilidade.

The concept of symbolic capital, introduced by Pierre Bourdieu (1986), has been applied to explain the circulation of value between game communities and the industry. The bottom-up approach can be found in the studies of so-called “gaming capital” accumulated by gamers (Consalvo, 2009), while the top-down approach focuses on the agents who hold the most power in the gaming industry (Nichols, 2013). These perspectives may require reconfiguration today: since the end of the 2010s, traditional power relations have been contested by ‘decentralized’ gaming that uses blockchain technologies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Their early adopters suggest that NFTs may disrupt traditional circulation of value to the benefit of players as opposed to major corporations. Many gamers, however, vehemently oppose NFTs in games. By combining these top-down and the bottom-up approaches, this article explains that the specific symbolic gaming capital remains systematically underappreciated in blockchain gaming, which operates along different vectors of power. To support my argument, I turn to the longest-running blockchain-based game CryptoKitties (Axiom Zen, 2017), and analyze the elements of the role-playing genre that appeared in the game during the collective process of continuous development. In the first case, these elements (‘fancies’) were added by the developers of the game, and in the second case, an RPG-like extension emerged as one of its fan spin-offs (KotoWars). I conclude that symbolic capital is community-specific in the case of blockchain gaming. It is only available to those who already possess considerable symbolic, and, much more importantly, financial capital within the crypto community.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely used in our modern society and their development is rapidly accelerating. Flying Ad Hoc Networks (FANETs) have opened a new window of opportunity to create new value-added services. However, the characteristics that make FANETs unique, such as node mobility, node distance, energy constraints, etc., imply that several guidelines need to be considered for their successful deployment. Although numerous routing protocols have been proposed for FANETs, due to the wide range of applications in which FANETs can be applied, not all routing protocols can be used. Due to this challenge, after breaking down and classifying the different types of existing routing protocols for FANET, this paper analyzes and compares the performance of several routing protocols (Babel, BATMAN-ADV, and OLSR) in terms of throughput and packet loss in a real deployment composed of several UAV nodes using 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi networks. The results show that Babel achieves better performance in the studied metrics than OLSR and BATMAN-ADV, while BATMAN-ADV delivers significantly lower performance. This experimental study confirms the importance of choosing the proper routing protocol for FANETs and their performance evaluation, something that will be extremely important in a few years when this type of network will be common in our day-to-day life.

Flying Ad-hoc Networks (FANETs) have been employed in modern warfare for monitoring and reconnaissance to produce a healthy living environment for wildlife through multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). FANETs allow multiple UAVs to communicate in 3D space to establish an ad-hoc network. FANETs applications, among others, can deliver costeffective services to help future wildlife. However, adopting FANET's technology in wildlife monitoring is difficult due to its challenges in mobility, data routing, energy, and security considerations. Therefore, this paper aims to look at FANET's possible applications in wildlife Monitoring and the implications and issues that come with them.

Los fangos activos generados por las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales contienen altas concentraciones de microorganismos patógenos y materia orgánica, convirtiéndose en un problema ambiental, el objetivo de esta investigación fue la estabilización de fangos mediante la técnica de Bokashi, se realizó un diseño completamente al azar (DCA) con cuatro tratamientos y cuatro réplicas. El T1 compuesto por 35% fango y 65% Bokashi, el T2 tuvo 45% de fango y 55% de Bokashi, el T3 55% de fango y 45% de Bokashi, y el T4 65% de fango y 35% de Bokashi. Los análisis estadísticos ejecutados mostraron que el T3 alcanzó mejores resultados para una estabilización de los fangos, presentando parámetros de valores óptimos de humedad de 46,35%, carbono de 42,73%, nitrógeno 1,55%, el valor de pH 6,4 y la temperatura que una vez estabilizada se mantuvo entre 30-31 ºC presentando potencialidades como alternativas eficiente, para la estabilización de fangos provenientes de plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales para ser utilizado en el sector agrícola.

Mediafandomeja on tutkittu eri tieteenaloilla vuosikymmeniä. Tuona aikana tutkimusten painopiste on siirtynyt kriittisestä voimaannuttavaan, minkä jälkeen ne ovat asettuneet tämän hetken monitieteellisiin näkökulmiin. Yksi mediafandomien toimintatapa on kuitenkin jäänyt tutkimuksessa vähemmälle huomiolle. Kyseessä on fandomien harjoittama julkisuuden henkilöiden fanitus, johon perehdyn tässä artikkelissa tarkastelemalla näyttelijöiden Benedict Cumberbatchin ja Tom Hiddlestonin mediafandomeja Tumblr-mikroblogipalvelussa. Selvitän, miten tutkimuskohteenani olevien mediafandomien harjoittama julkisuuden henkilöiden fanitus ilmenee ja millaisia eri merkityksiä se saa. Perehdyn fanittamisen tapoihin ja merkityksiin fanitutkimuksen klassikon, Henry Jenkinsin osallistuvan kulttuurin teorian avulla. Palaan Jenkinsin teoriaan, koska mediafandomien harjoittamaa julkisuuden henkilöiden fanitusta ei ole aiemmin yhdistetty siihen. Tarkastelen artikkelissani näissä fandomeissa esiintyviä erilaisia fanituksen tapoja. Erityisesti käsittelen persoonakuvien rakentamisen tapaa, jota ei ole aiemmin tutkittu. Kyseessä on fanituksen tapa, jossa fanit muodostavat ja ylläpitävät yhdessä fanituksen kohteen persoonasta rakennettua mielikuvaa. Tarkastelen ja analysoin tekemiäni löytöjä Jenkinsin osallistuvan kulttuurin teorian kautta. Persoonamielikuvien rakentaminen nousee tärkeään asemaan, sillä se osoittaa, että nämä fandomit luovat ja ylläpitävät yhteisiä metatekstejä, mikä on tärkeää osallistuvassa kulttuurissa. Esitän, että mediafandomien harjoittama julkisuuden henkilöiden fanitus kuuluu osallistuvan kulttuurin piiriin samoin kuin mediafandomien harjoittama mediatuotteiden fanitus. Artikkelin lopussa tarkastelen myös hieman osallistuvan kulttuurin muutosta ja pohdin, miten tutkimuksen kohteena olevien fandomien toiminta sopii Jenkinsin omaan päivitettyyn versioon teoriasta. During this time the emphasis of the research has shifted from critical to empowering, after which it has settled to the current multidisciplinary studies that cover multiple viewpoints. In spite of all these studies, one media fandom practice, the fandom of public figures, has been left in the sidelines. In this article, I focus on this type of fandom through the media fandoms of the actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston in Tumblr microblog service. In this article, I ask how the subjects of my research practice their fandom and what different meanings these practices have. I look into different ways in which Henry Jenkins’ participatory cultural theory can be used to analyze the practices and meanings of these two Tumblr-based fandoms. I return to this classic of fandom research, because it has not been used to explore the fandom of public figures before. My article focuses on different ways fandom manifests, specifically in these Tumblr-based platforms. I focus especially on a previously unresearched fandom practice, the construction of persona images. This refers to the way fans collectively form and maintain the image of the public persona. Based on my findings I compare the ways in which the practices of these fandoms relate to Jenkins' theory of participatory culture. The construction of mental images of the public figures is a key element here, because it shows that these fandoms create and maintain metatexts, which is one of the most important practices of the participatory culture. I argue that the fandom of public figures is a part of participatory culture (Jenkins) similarly to the fandom of brands and products. At the end of the article, I take a quick look at the changes taking place in participatory culture, and ask how the fandoms I have researched fit into Jenkins updated version of the theory.

Telecommunications among unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged recently due to rapid improvements in wireless technology, low-cost equipment, advancement in networking communication techniques, and demand from various industries that seek to leverage aerial data to improve their business and operations. As such, UAVs have started to become extremely prevalent for a variety of civilian, commercial, and military uses over the past few years. UAVs form a flying ad hoc network (FANET) as they communicate and collaborate wirelessly. FANETs may be utilized to quickly complete complex operations. FANETs are frequently deployed in three dimensions, with a mobility model determined by the work they are to do, and hence differ between vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) and mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) in terms of features and attributes. Furthermore, different flight constraints and the high dynamic topology of FANETs make the design of routing protocols difficult. This paper presents a comprehensive review covering the UAV network, the several communication links, the routing protocols, the mobility models, the important research issues, and simulation software dedicated to FANETs. A topology-based routing protocol specialized to FANETs is discussed in-depth, with detailed categorization, descriptions, and qualitatively compared analyses. In addition, the paper demonstrates open research topics and future challenge issues that need to be resolved by the researchers, before UAVs communications are expected to become a reality and practical in the industry.

El presente artículo tiene como propósito el estudio de las series abridged, un tipo de parodias, realizadas por aficionados occidentales, que emplean de forma resumida el metraje original de animes populares. Este fenómeno mediático, que se ha popularizado en Youtube, evidencia, primeramente, las posibilidades de adaptación y transformación que los nuevos medios y tecnologías brindan a los entusiastas del anime, y segundo, la tendencia de los aficionados a utilizar la parodia como una estrategia para aprehender el universo mediático y, de la misma forma, como un comentario crítico de la realidad. En el contexto de la cultura digital, y a través de la revisión de la parodia, de la intertextualidad y de la intermedialidad, se analizan las series abriged basadas en los animes de Dragon Ball Z, Yu Gi Oh! y JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. De este sucinto examen, se pueden extraer las siguientes conclusiones: primeramente, esta clase de parodias guardan una relación estrecha con otras expresiones realizadas también por fans, tales como las fanfictions, o fanfics, el fansub, el fandub, el fanart, los fanfilms y los fangames; segundo, las series abridged, y todas las demás recreaciones de admiradores del anime, son artefactos intertextuales e intermediales, en tanto remiten a mundos textuales previamente constituidos y a medios convergentes; por último, dado que los universos ficcionales y mediáticos pueden concebirse como artefactos de comprensión y comunicación de y con la realidad, las reelaboraciones paródicas realizadas por los fans, y denominadas como series abridged, constituyen no sólo la reinterpretación de dichos mundos, sino también una forma en que los aficionados se apropian de la realidad, o realidades, que el anime y demás productos culturales referencian.

Recently, the flying ad-hoc network (FANETs) is a popular networking technology used to create a wireless network through unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this network, the UAV nodes work as intermediate nodes that communicate with each other to transmit data packets over the network, in the absence of fixed an infrastructure. Due to high mobility degree of UAV nodes, network formation and deformation among the UAVs are very frequent. Therefore, effective routing is a more challenging issue in FANETs. This paper presents performance evaluations and comparisons of the popular topology-based routing protocol namely AODV and position-based routing protocol, namely LAR for high speed mobility as well as a verity of the density of UAV nodes in the FANETs environment through NS-2 simulator. The extensive simulation results have shown that LAR gives better performance than AODV significantly in terms of the packet delivery ratio, normalized routing overhead, end-to-end delay, and average throughput, which make it a more effective routing protocol for the highly dynamic nature of FANETs.

"Este artigo tem como objetivos caracterizar o conceito de autoria em rede, descrever os conteúdos disponíveis no site Spirit Fanfics e Histórias, bem como analisar de que modo acontece o processo de construção das estórias e como proporciona aprendizagem aos sujeitos. Foi utilizada a pesquisa netnográfica, por meio da qual se analisou o site a partir da observação participante para construção dos dados, e a metodologia qualitativa quanto aos procedimentos. Foram aplicados questionários aos participantes, a fim de reunir informações acerca da produção de fanfics e da autoria em rede. Como resultados, destacamos que a autoria em rede e a colaboração, presentes na produção de fanfics, conduzem os sujeitos ao engajamento, por meio do qual aprendem sobre o conteúdo imerso na narrativa ficcional produzida."

Salt tolerance of seven Texas Superstar® perennials [Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii (Turk’s cap), Phlox paniculata ‘John Fanick’ (‘John Fanick’ phlox), Phlox paniculata ‘Texas Pink’ (‘Texas Pink’ phlox), Ruellia brittoniana ‘Katie Blue’ (‘Katie Blue’ ruellia), Salvia farinacea ‘Henry Duelberg’ (‘Henry Duelberg’ salvia), Salvia leucantha (mexican bush sage), and Verbena ×hybrida ‘Blue Princess’ (‘Blue Princess’ verbena)] was evaluated in a greenhouse experiment. Plants were irrigated with a nutrient solution at electrical conductivity (EC) of 1.1 dS·m−1 (control) or a salt solution at EC of 5.0 or 10.0 dS·m−1 (EC 5 or EC 10) for 8 weeks. ‘John Fanick’ and ‘Texas Pink’ phlox plants in EC 5 had severe salt foliage damage, while those in EC 10 were died. Mexican bush sage in EC 10 had severe salt foliage damage. Turk’s cap, ‘Katie Blue’ ruellia, ‘Henry Duelberg’ salvia, and ‘Blue Princess’ verbena had minor foliar damage regardless of treatment. EC 5 reduced the shoot dry weight (DW) by 45% in ‘Texas Pink’ phlox and 11% to 18% in ‘Katie Blue’ ruellia, ‘Henry Duelberg’ salvia, and mexican bush sage, but did not impact the shoot DW of Turk’s cap and ‘John Fanick’ phlox. EC 10 further decreased the shoot DW of ‘Katie Blue’ ruellia, ‘Henry Duelberg’ salvia, and mexican bush sage plants by 32%, 29%, and 56%, respectively. EC 5 decreased leaf net photosynthesis (Pn) of ‘Texas Pink’ phlox and mexican bush sage, while EC 10 reduced Pn of all species except ‘Henry Duelberg’ salvia and ‘Blue Princess’ verbena. ‘Katie Blue’ ruellia and ‘Blue Princess’ verbena had relatively lower leaf Na concentration and ‘John Fanick’ phlox, ‘Texas Pink’phlox, and mexican bush sage had higher leaf Cl concentrations. In summary, Turk’s cap, ‘Katie Blue’ ruellia, ‘Henry Duelberg’ salvia, and ‘Blue Princess’ verbena were the most tolerant perennials, and ‘John Fanick’ phlox, ‘Texas Pink’ phlox, and mexican bush sage were the least tolerant to salinity.

Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relação de alteridade, a partir da proposta bakhtiniana, em comentários de leitores a fanfics publicadas no site brasileiro Spirit Fanfics e Histórias. A fanfiction é uma história de ficção escrita individual ou coletivamente a partir de livros, séries, filmes e/ou personagens de outros autores, sendo majoritariamente popular entre leitores e escritores jovens. Esses textos circulam na internet, em comunidades específicas – sites criados com esse fito, como o selecionado – e, nesse espaço de produção escrita, escritores e leitores dialogam sobre as produções, por meio dos comentários, no intuito de aperfeiçoá-las, sob os valores desse espaço. Para isso, o ato de comentar a produção do outro, manifestando seu posicionamento individual, a fim de colaborar com o desenvolvimento do texto, é fundamental e, por isso, é requerido pelos escritores e pelo próprio site. Os estudos bakhtinianos indicam que os enunciados concretos – manifestações de linguagem em atos/eventos interativos – são elaborados por sujeitos sociais sempre na relação com o outro, a quem se dirige, direta ou indiretamente. Assim, embasado pelos estudos de Bakhtin, de Volóchinov e da Análise Dialógica do Discurso, este trabalho analisa as relações de alteridade em cinco comentários postados em fanfics do seriado 13 Reasons Why, selecionados de um conjunto de 120, os quais compõem uma pesquisa de doutoramento em andamento, na qual o critério de seleção foi a presença de elogio/crítica justificada ao texto. Por sua vez, os comentários analisados neste artigo são representativos da alteridade nesse corpus maior. A metodologia selecionada – o cotejamento – consiste no colocar textos em relação, no intuito de ampliar os contextos para a compreensão dos enunciados, conforme propõe Bakhtin. Da proposta bakhtiniana, destacamos os conceitos de arquitetônica, diálogo, enunciado concreto, campo de atividade e alteridade como relevantes para a presente discussão, os quais embasam as análises propostas. Partiu-se da hipótese de que as relações de alteridade são elemento central para a edificação desses textos nessa comunidade colaborativa de produção escrita. Diante disso, os resultados alcançados indicam que o comentário é constituinte da fanfic, o qual orienta a produção com base na relação de alteridade entre autores e leitores. Somado a isso, o artigo destaca a importância do gênero comentário para essa relação, o qual se mostrou, por meio das análises, como singular nesse espaço, com as relações entre eu e outro marcadas em sua arquitetônica. Com isso, este artigo contribui para a área dos estudos bakhtinianos com considerações sobre os gêneros do discurso em contexto digital.

O estudo investiga as possibilidades de aprendizagem por meio da autoria na produção de fanfics. A pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar como os sujeitos imersos na cultura digital, por meio da autoria em rede, do ponto de vista da transmidiação marcada nas fanfics, aprendem a partir das produções e colaborações. A metodologia contempla a abordagem qualitativa, a pesquisa bibliográfica e netnográfica. Os dados foram coletados a partir dos registros feitos por meio da observação participante e da análise dos questionários aplicados aos participantes da pesquisa, beta readers do site Spirit Fanfics e Histórias. Com isso, foi elucidado que por meio da liberdade, da autoria e coautoria em rede e da colaboração os sujeitos engajam-se na produção de narrativas ficcionais. E, uma vez que precisam apropriar-se de conteúdos específicos que são tratados nas histórias, quando são tratados, constroem conhecimento de forma autônoma.

<p>Pretende-se analisar as <em>fanfics</em> e suas influências nas práticas de letramentos literários digitais de estudantes do ensino médio. O estudo fundamentou-se nas abordagens dos seguintes autores: Barton e Hamilton (2000); Lévy (1999); Lima e Menezes (2017); Lorenzi; Pádua (2012); Marcuschi e Xavier (2010); Moreira (2013); Neves (2012); Padrão (2007); Rojo; Barbosa; Collins (2005); Silva (2017); Soares (2002); Vargas (2015). A metodologia utilizada priorizou abordagem qualitativa, mediante técnicas procedimentais, tais como: pesquisa de campo em duas escolas públicas da rede estadual de Pernambuco, aplicação de questionários com estudantes do ensino médio. Os resultados da pesquisa revelam que a maior parte dos estudantes não tem conhecimento sobre as <em>fanfics</em> (62,3%) e 83% não costumam ler <em>fanfics</em> na <em>internet</em>. Mesmo sem o conhecimento do gênero <em>fanfic</em>, muitos estudantes (39,6%) afirmaram que gostariam de que o professor de literatura trabalhasse com <em>fanfics</em> em sala de aula. No cenário da cultura digital, a escola precisa desenvolver ações para motivar letramentos literários nos meios digitais, no sentido de ampliar práticas de leitura e escrita direcionadas à literatura. A <em>fanfic</em> pode se transformar em uma ferramenta didática importante para estimular essas práticas de letramentos dos jovens estudantes do ensino médio, interessados nas conexões entre literatura e outras linguagens do ciberespaço.</p><p><strong>PALAVRAS-CHAVE</strong>: Literatura. With the growing utilization of intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) clusters in both military and civilian domains, the routing protocol of flying ad-hoc networks (FANETs) has promised a crucial role in facilitating cluster communication. However, the highly dynamic nature of the network topology, owing to the rapid movement and changing direction of aircraft nodes, as well as frequent accesses and exits from the network, has resulted in an increased interruption rate of FANETs links. While traditional protocols can satisfy basic network service quality (QoS) requirements in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) with relatively fixed topology changes, they may fail to achieve optimal routes and consequently restrict information dissemination in FANETs with topology changes, which ultimately leads to elevated packet loss and delay. This paper undertakes an in-depth investigation of the challenges faced by current routing protocols in high dynamic topology scenarios, such as delay and packet loss. It proposes a Q-learning empowered highly dynamic, and latency-aware routing algorithm for flying ad-hoc networks (QEHLR). Traditional routing algorithms are unable to effectively route packets in highly dynamic FANETs; hence, this paper employs a Q-learning method to learn the link status in the network and effectively select routes through Q-values to avoid connection loss. Additionally, the remaining time of the link or path lifespan is incorporated into the routing protocol to construct the routing table. QEHLR can delete predicted failed links based on network status, thereby reducing packet loss caused by failed route selection. Simulations show that the enhanced algorithm significantly improves the packet transmission rate, which addresses the challenge of routing protocols’ inability to adapt to various mobility scenarios in FANETs with dynamic topology by introducing a calculation factor based on the QEHLR protocol. The experimental results indicate that the improved routing algorithm achieves superior network performance.

The advent of flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) has opened an opportunity to create new added-value services. Even though it is clear that these networks share common features with its predecessors, e.g., with mobile ad hoc networks and with vehicular ad hoc networks, there are several unique characteristics that make FANETs different. These distinctive features impose a series of guidelines to be considered for its successful deployment. Particularly, the use of FANETs for telecommunication services presents demanding challenges in terms of quality of service, energy efficiency, scalability, and adaptability. The proper use of models in research activities will undoubtedly assist to solve those challenges. Therefore, in this paper, we review mobility, positioning, and propagation models proposed for FANETs in the related scientific literature. A common limitation that affects these three topics is the lack of studies evaluating the influence that the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) may have in the on-board/embedded communication devices, usually just assuming isotropic or omnidirectional radiation patterns. For this reason, we also investigate in this work the radiation pattern of an 802.11 n/ac (WiFi) device embedded in a UAV working on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Our findings show that the impact of the UAV is not negligible, representing up to a 10 dB drop for some angles of the communication links.

At present, the applications of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are becoming more and more widespread, covering many civil and military fields. When performing tasks, UAVs will form a flying ad hoc network (FANET) to communicate to each other. However, subject to high mobility, dynamic topology, and limited energy of FANETs, maintaining stable communication performance is a challenging task. As a potential solution, the clustering routing algorithm divides the entire network into multiple clusters to achieve strong network performance. Meanwhile, the accurate localization of UAV is also strongly required when FANETs are applied in the indoor scenario. In this paper, we propose a firefly swarm intelligence based cooperative localization (FSICL) and automatic clustering (FSIAC) for FANETs. Firstly, we combine the firefly algorithm (FA) and Chan algorithm to better cooperative locate the UAVs. Secondly, we propose the fitness function consisting of link survival probability, node degree-difference, average distance, and residual energy, and take it as the light intensity of the firefly. Thirdly, the FA is put forward for cluster-head (CH) selection and cluster formation. Simulation results indicate that the proposed FSICL algorithm achieves the higher localization accuracy faster, and the FSIAC algorithm achieves the higher stability of clusters, longer link expiration time (LET), and longer node lifetime, all of which improve the communication performance for indoor FANETs.

Clustering methods are promising tools for ensuring the network scalability and maintainability of large-scale flying ad hoc networks (FANETs). However, due to the high mobility and limited energy resources of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), it is difficult to maintain the network reliability and extend the network life of FANETs. In this paper, a new K-means algorithm is developed, and a dynamic transmission power of the cluster heads based clustering (DTPCH-C) scheme is proposed. The goal of this scheme is presented for FANETs to improve the reliability and lifetime of FANETs. Firstly, the optimal number of clusters is calculated and the initial UAV clusters are set up by a K-means algorithm. Then, using a weighted clustering algorithm, the adaptive node degree, the node energy and the distance from the cluster head are weighted and summed for the cluster head election. In the process of inter-cluster communication, the cluster head adjusts its transmit power in real-time through meshing and mobile prediction, thus saving the energy consumption and improving the network lifetime. The proposed DTPCH-C simultaneously optimizes the cluster number, the cluster head energy consumption, the selected cluster head, and the cluster maintenance process. The simulation results show that compared with traditional clustering methods, the proposed DTPCH-C has obvious advantages in terms of the network reliability, network life, and energy consumption.

Development of participatory culture together with computer network technologies has given rise to amateur network fiction: fanfiction. Fanfic texts emerge as derivative works of fiction reproducing transformed components of popular canon. The linguistic and cultural importance of fanfiction, underpinned by its overwhelming popularity, explains the urgent need in its comprehensive philological analysis. The article studies intertextuality as the creative principle of fanfiction, introducing the concepts of the intertextual vector of a fiction text, retrospective and prospective intertextuality, and makes use of specific examples to analyse it. A key feature of fanfiction is its intertextual imbalance. Fanfics are derivative texts created by retrospective intertextuality (references to the precedent canon). At the same time, fanfics rarely become precedent texts, weakening their prospective intertextuality. A rare example of intertextually balanced fanfic is the Middle-earth novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. Their retrospective intertextuality relies upon the Anglo-Saxon epic “Beowulf”, Scandinavian and Finnish epics, Old Germanic legends, novels by F. Cooper, and other texts. Such a wide scope of precedent texts makes the novels culturally rich and profound, which, together with their gripping plot and unique characters, ensures their precedence and the balance between retrospective and prospective intertextuality, with the latter implemented in countless fanfics. Prospects for further study include research into canon transformation in fanfics and intertext typology in fanfiction.

During an interview in September 1986, some three years prior to seeking political asylum with his wife at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, Fang Lizhi was asked how he felt about the progress of political reform in China. Fang responded, “I must start with cosmology in answering this question.”Fang's linkage of politics with cosmology – a branch of astrophysics concerned with the origins of the universe – must seem peculiar to those who know him only as a human rights advocate and critic of the Chinese Communist Party. Yet this was no idiosyncrasy on Fang's part. Fang's life and published work from the early 1970s to the present leave no doubt that his emergence as the symbolic leader of China's democracy movement is deeply rooted in his experiences and outlook as a scientist.Fang's personal universe began to expand in 1972, when he and his colleagues at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) published a paper in Physica entitled “A Solution of the cosmological equations in scalar-tensor theory, with mass and blackbody radiation.” This innocuous-sounding article met with a furious response from leading theoretical circles of the Party. Fang et al. had broken a long-standing taboo by introducing the Big Bang theory to the Chinese physics world. Insofar as the Big Bang contradicted Engels's declaration that the universe must be infinite in space and time, Fang's paper was tantamount to heresy.

Flying ad hoc networks (FANETs), composed of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), possess characteristics of flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and rapid deployment, rendering them highly attractive for a wide range of civilian and military applications. FANETs are special mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), FANETs have the characteristics of faster network topology changes and limited energy. Existing reactive routing protocols are unsuitable for the highly dynamic and limited energy of FANETs. For the lithium battery-powered UAV, flight endurance lasts from half an hour to two hours. The fast-moving UAV not only affects the packet delivery rate, average throughput, and end-to-end delay but also shortens the flight endurance. Therefore, research is urgently needed into a high-performance routing protocol with high energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel routing protocol called AO-AOMDV, which utilizes arithmetic optimization (AO) to enhance the ad hoc on-demand multi-path distance vector (AOMDV) routing protocol. The AO-AOMDV utilizes a fitness function to calculate the fitness value of multiple paths and employs arithmetic optimization for selecting the optimal route for routing selection. Our experiments were conducted using NS3 with three evaluation metrics: the packet delivery ratio, network lifetime, and average end-to-end delay. We compare this algorithm to routing protocols including AOMDV and AODV. The results indicate that the proposed AO-AOMDV attained a higher packet delivery ratio, network lifetime, and lower average end-to-end delay.

Este artigo, situada nos estudos de gênero textual, tem o objetivo de entender a fanfic como gênero, a partir da observação do contexto de produção da escrita das histórias de fãs dentro de duas plataformas de autopublicação intituladas Wattpad e Nyah! Fanfiction, assim como as ações de linguagem que permeiam a escrita das fanfics e de que forma esses elementos são constitutivos na configuração da fanfic compreendida aqui como um gênero textual. Para atingir o objetivo pretendido, fez-se necessária uma escolha teórica que abordasse a produção textual, numa perspectiva interativa, sendo assim, foi mobilizada a teoria do Interacionismo Sociodiscursivo (doravante ISD) na proposta de Bronckart, partindo do pressuposto que o contexto de produção diz respeito ao conjunto dos parâmetros que podem exercer uma influência sobre a forma como um texto é organizado. Foram analisadas dois tipos de fanfictions, a primeira do tipo oneshot - fanfics de até um capítulo - e a segunda do tipo drabble - fanfics que são fanfics escritas em cem palavras. Os resultados mostraram que os textos escritos por fãs, dentro das plataformas de autopublicação, constituem-se em um gênero digital e multimodal, além de serem textos coletivos que socialmente impactam nas práxis de leitura e produção textual, expandindo-as, além de intensificar a reflexão do gênero discursivo enquanto prática social, considerando o entorno do texto e as características específicas. Com esta pesquisa, espera-se contribuir para o campo de estudo dos gêneros digitais e multimodais.

Albanian Roman Catholics, fandas, were settled in the Prizren and the Peć Sanjaks and in the area around Đakovica. Over time, their number increased with newcomers from the north of today's Albania and with high birth rates. In the areas where they were inhabited, they acted in an organized manner and, together with the Muslim Albanians, attacked the Serb population. They committed daily atrocities against the Serbs, who were forced to abandon or undersell their properties; they sought salvation outside the borders of the Ottoman Empire. The actions of the fandas, organized into groups, were well designed and supported by the Roman Catholic priests and the Austro-Hungarian representatives, which also aimed to displace the Serb population from Metohija. Numerous examples were noted that point to the coordinated action of Austrian diplomats and Roman Catholic priests in the Kosovo vilayet. Their help and support additionally encouraged the fandas to continue with even more frequent and stronger attacks on the Serbs in the Peć and the Prizren Sanjaks. Ottoman authorities were often powerless to oppose and prevent Albanian Mohammedans and fandas from committing atrocities. The Serbs turned to the consul of the Kingdom of Serbia in Priština and the Russian consuls in Prizren and Mitrovica for help. Realizing that the fandas were persistent in their intention to displace the Serbian population, Consul Miroslav Spalajković proposed certain measures to the Government in Belgrade that could affect the improvement of the situation. His opinion was supported by the later consul, Milan Rakić. The consul's concern for the survival of the Serb population was justified and the reports to the Belgrade Foreign Ministry were replete with grim events describing numerous arson, killings, thefts, and large numbers of victims. The situation in the Kosovo vilayet had been further exacerbated by the resistance from the Albanians who opposed the reforms. The resistance and demand of Albanian Mohammedans were joined by Albanian Roman Catholics. However, some time later, after the incident in the mosque in the village Smonice in the Đakovica area, there was a conflict between the two sides, which spread to other parts. Until this conflict, the Albanian Mohammedans and fandas in Đakovica lived in relatively good relations. There were blood feuds among them, but they were resolved like all the others among the Albanians themselves. Among the conflicting parties, a new and important element appeared, the religious element. As an epilogue to the conflict and the fight between the two warring parties, there were many wounded and dead. Regardless of that, the oppression towards the Serbs had not decreased, so the Serbian consul in Priština came up with the idea to use the situation and request additional army forces be sent. The Mohammedan leaders resorted to the tried and tested method of tying besa, first in Peć, where they held a meeting and formed a committee for protection against evil deeds, which included four Serbs. After that, gatherings were held in other parts of the Kosovo vilayet, where, among other things, the issue of fandas was discussed. The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Serbia in Skoplje had information on the complete reconciliation of Mohammedans and Roman Catholics and the conclusion of a political agreement. A new situation in the Ottoman Empire soon followed-on July 24, 1908, the Constitution was proclaimed and the Young Turks took power. However, the Serbs of the Peć and the Prizren Sanjaks did not benefit from that, because crimes, murders, arsons, and the reactivation of the Roman Catholic Committee continued.

Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) have recently attracted elevated levels of interest in large-scale and ever-growing wireless communication networks through the utilization of flying objects, e.g., satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles/drones (UAVs). Interestingly, the applications of UAV-assisted networks are rapidly becoming an integral part of future communication services. This paper first overviews the key components of NTN while highlighting the significance of emerging UAV networks where for example, a group of UAVs can be used as nodes to exchange data packets and form a flying ad hoc network (FANET). In addition, both existing and emerging applications of the FANET are explored. Next, it provides key recent findings and the state-of-the-art of FANETs while examining various routing protocols based on cross-layer modeling. Moreover, a modeling perspective of FANETs is provided considering delay-tolerant networks (DTN) because of the intermittent nature of connectivity in low-density FANETs, where each node (or UAV) can perform store-carry-and-forward (SCF) operations. Indeed, we provide a case study of a UAV network as a DTN, referred to as DTN-assisted FANET. Furthermore, applications of machine learning (ML) in FANET are discussed. This paper ultimately foresees future research paths and problems for allowing FANET in forthcoming wireless communication networks.
