As deep learning models have made remarkable strides in numerous fields, a variety of adversarial attack methods have emerged to interfere with deep learning models. Adversarial examples apply a minute perturbation to the original image, which is inconceivable to the human but produces a massive error in the deep learning model. Existing attack methods have achieved good results when the network structure is known. However, in the case of unknown network structures, the effectiveness of the attacks still needs to be improved. Therefore, transfer-based attacks are now very popular because of their convenience and practicality, allowing adversarial samples generated on known models to be used in attacks on unknown models. In this paper, we extract sensitive features by Grad-CAM and propose two single-step attacks methods and a multi-step attack method to corrupt sensitive features. In two single-step attacks, one corrupts the features extracted from a single model and the other corrupts the features extracted from multiple models. In multi-step attack, our method improves the existing attack method, thus enhancing the adversarial sample transferability to achieve better results on unknown models. Our method is also validated on CIFAR-10 and MINST, and achieves a 1%-3% improvement in transferability.

The fault diagnosis in the real world is often complicated. It is due to the fact that not all relevant fault information is available directly. In many fault diagnosis situations, it is impossible or inconvenient to find all fault information before establishing a fault diagnosis model. To deal with this issue, a method named active example selection (AES) is proposed for the fault diagnosis. AES could actively discover unseen faults and choose useful samples to improve the fault detection accuracy. AES consists of three key components: (1) a fusion model of combining the advantage of the unsupervised and supervised fault diagnosis methods, where the unsupervised fault diagnosis methods could discover unseen faults and the supervised fault diagnosis methods could provide better fault detection accuracy on seen faults, (2) an active learning algorithm to help the supervised fault diagnosis methods actively discover unseen faults and choose useful samples to improve the fault detection accuracy, and (3) an incremental learning scheme to speed up the iterative training procedure for AES. The proposed method was evaluated on the benchmark Tennessee Eastman Process data. The proposed method performed better on both unseen and seen faults than the stand-alone unsupervised, supervised fault diagnosis methods, their joint and referenced support vector machines based on active learning.

The rapid development of deep neural networks (DNN) has promoted the widespread application of image recognition, natural language processing, and autonomous driving. However, DNN is vulnerable to adversarial examples, such as an input sample with imperceptible perturbation which can easily invalidate the DNN and even deliberately modify the classification results. Therefore, this article proposes a preprocessing defense framework based on image compression reconstruction to achieve adversarial example defense. Firstly, the defense framework performs pixel depth compression on the input image based on the sensitivity of the adversarial example to eliminate adversarial perturbations. Secondly, we use the super-resolution image reconstruction network to restore the image quality and then map the adversarial example to the clean image. Therefore, there is no need to modify the network structure of the classifier model, and it can be easily combined with other defense methods. Finally, we evaluate the algorithm with MNIST, Fashion-MNIST, and CIFAR-10 datasets; the experimental results show that our approach outperforms current techniques in the task of defending against adversarial example attacks.

In the current study different geographic profiling methods were tested on a sample of burglaries in Warsaw. Overall 38 crime series were included in study, accuracy was measured as hit score and error distance. Results show limited obtained accuracy, comparably lower than what can be seen in similar tests conducted in western cities, but each method also shows improvement with series length. This shows that it is possible to use geographic profiling in polish setting, but also that there are significant limitations that one has to consider.

We investigate the use of example-based methods for Natural Language Processing tasks. Specifi- cally, we look at machine translation and preposition prediction. We propose a new framework for the hybridisation of Example-Based and Statistical Machine Translation (EBMT and SMT) systems. We add powerful new functionality to the Moses SMT system to allow it to work effectively with our EBMT system. Within this framework, we investigate the use of two types of EBMT system. We first create an EBMT system which uses string-based matching and evaluate it within the hybrid framework. We investigate several variations, but find that the hybrid system is unable to match the performance of the pure SMT system. We next created a syntax-based EBMT system which uses dependency trees to compare inputs to the example base, and show that this system is consistently better than the string-based approach. We find that while the SMT system still performs better overall, the syntax-based hybrid does perform particularly well for some examples. We then look at the application of example-based methods to preposition prediction for non- native English writers. We create two systems, one of which is syntax-based, and the other string- based. The syntax-based system again uses dependency information to make predictions, and we show that it performs with a very high precision but a low recall. The string-based system uses n-gram counts to make preposition predictions. We show that this approach is simple and fast, and performs as well as or better than other leading systems in the field. We conclude that example-based techniques continue to yield impressive results for NLP tasks, and expect the field to benefit further as computing and data resources develop.

Background: Routinely-collected data offer great potential for epidemiological research and could be used to make randomised controlled trials (RCTs) more efficient. The use of routine data for research has been limited by concerns surrounding data quality, particularly data completeness. To fully exploit these information-rich data sources it is necessary to identify approaches capable of overcoming high proportions of missing data. Using a 2008 extract of the Scottish Care Information – Diabetes Collaboration (SCIDC) database, a population-based register of people with a diagnosis of diabetes in Scotland, I compared the findings of several methods for handling missing data in a retrospective cohort study investigating the association between body mass index (BMI) and all-cause mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Discussions with clinicians and logistic regression analyses were used to determine the likely mechanisms of missingness and the relative appropriateness of a selection of missing data methods, such as multiple imputation. Sequentially more complicated imputation approaches were used to handle missing data. Cox proportional hazard model coefficients for the association between BMI and all-cause mortality were compared for each missing data method. Age-standardised mortality rates by categories of BMI at around the time of diagnosis were also presented. Results: There were 66,472 patients diagnosed with type 2 DM between 2004 and 2008. Of these patients, 21% of patients did not have a recording of BMI at time of diagnosis. Amongst patients with complete BMI data, there were 5,491 deaths during 296,584 person years of follow-up. Amongst patients with incomplete data, there were 2,090 deaths during 79,067 person-years of follow-up. Analyses indicated that the primary mechanism of missingness was missing at random, conditional on patient year of diagnosis and vital status. In particular, patients with missing data had considerably worse survival than patients without missing data. Regardless of the method for handling the missing data, a U-shaped relationship between BMI and mortality was observed. Compared to complete case analysis, the association between BMI and alliii cause mortality was weaker using multiple imputation approaches with estimates moving towards the null. Closest observation imputation had the smallest effect on estimates compared to complete case analysis. Risk of mortality was consistently highest in the less than 25kg/m² BMI group. For example, estimates obtained using multiple imputation using chained equations indicated that patients with a BMI below 25kg/m² had a 38% higher risk of mortality than patients in the 25 to less than 30kg/m² BMI category. Conclusions: Alternative methods to complete case analysis can be computationally intensive with many important practical considerations. However, it remains valuable to explore the robustness of estimates to departures from the assumptions made by complete case analysis. The use of these methods can preserve the sample size and therefore may be useful in developing risk prediction scores. Mortality was lowest amongst overweight or obese patients relative to normal weight. Further work is required to identify optimal approaches to weight management amongst patients with diabetes.

As part of my thesis, I am interested in the issue of creating traditional 2D animations, where all the images are handcrafted. Specifically, I explore how computers can assist artists in producing animations efficiently without reducing the artistic creative process. To address this problem, my work falls within the scope of automatic methods, where the animator collaborates iteratively with the computer. I propose a method that takes two keyframe images and a series of 2D vector fields describing the motion in image space of the animation, and generates intermediate images while preserving the given style as an example. My method combines two manual animation techniques: pose-to-pose and frame-by-frame animation, providing strong control by allowing any generated image to be edited in the same way as the example images provided. My research covers several domains: motion analysis, 2D curve control, mark-based rendering, and paint simulation

The problem of simulating a crowd to see how it would behave in certain situations or just to create a realistic-looking scene to be used in a movie or video game is important and complex, and there are many different methods to solve it. This project is primarily an investigation of the example-based crowd simulation method described in the article "Crowds by Example" by Lerner et al. In the article, traced video footage of crowds are used to create a data set. The simulation program continuously finds situations in the data set that resembles the current situations in the simulation and updates the simulation thereby. We implemented this for around 10 agents using Unity 3D. Example-based crowd simulations does not only, like some other types of crowd simulation methods (for example ORCA), take collision avoidance into account but also the more complex ways the human mind thinks and therefore does not always behave as one would predict. The main conclusion is that this method of simulating crowds has the potential to create more realistic simulations than other forms of crowd simulations. The downsides are that the time the program spends creating simulations can quickly get very high and to make realistic simulations a lot of video footage must be filmed and then traced.

Context. During each iteration of the application, we need to test the usability of the application. Therefore, how to improve efficiency and test according to the user's real experience is a problem faced by the company. According to our preliminary research on the literature. In the past, the usability of software systems was evaluated subjectively and the process was not well defined [21]. Every usability evaluation method has its advantages and disadvantages. Some are difficult to apply, and others are dependent on the measurer's opinions or instruments [21]. Moreover, currently, there are few studies on usability testing for e-commerce applications. And there is a lack of a usability test optimization scheme suitable for e-commerce applications. Therefore, we choose this direction for research. Objectives. This paper aims to provide an optimization method for usability testing process based on user requirements for e-commerce applications existing in the market, so that enterprises can more effectively implement the usability testing process in the process of iterative update of applications. Methods. In order to find the answers to the research questions, we used Literature review and Survey to collect the data. In the Survey section, we used the Questionnaire and Interview methods. After the data collection is completed, we perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data and organize the research conclusions. Results. Through a literature review, we conducted a systematic review of the usability challenges in e-commerce applications and how to overcome them. And we found the research direction in this process. We use the questionnaire to obtain the usability requirements of respondents (also users of e-commerce applications) for e-commerce applications, and use our optimization method (EEC) to translate user's requirements into usability test script content. And according to the feedback of the respondents to determine the content priority. We used interviews to understand the priorities that companies follow when actually performing usability testing. And compare it with the priority of our script to verify the effectiveness of our method. Conclusions. We summarize relevant conclusions by finding answers to research questions. Finally, an optimization method for usability testing is summarized, which will help future testers better implement usability testing to a certain extent.

In this thesis I have studied the so-called “Ševčík method” based on the example of his 40 Variations, op. 3. I’ve tried to achieve a deeper understanding of what the exercises are good for and how they work. I took a closer look at Otakar Ševčík’s life and work history, I also investigated other’s opinions and judgements of the “method” that were appearing in press and literature during the last hundred years. The practical part of my project is the experiment that I’ve put myself through. I was diligently practicing 40 Variations every day, trying to improve my technique and learn by playing how to apply those exercises in real life. As a result of this process I’ve developed my bow technique and gained better understanding of how to use Ševčík’s exercises.

The sounding part of the work consists of the following recordings:

1)Mozart before 2) Mozart after 3) Rossini before 4) Rossini after

The Corona virus situation spring semester 2020 has caused limitations in the recording possibilities. The recordings may be supplemented.

The monograph reveals the basics of complexity theory and methods for assessing complexity. The concept of complexity consideration is based on the analysis of complexity as a common attribute in processes and systems. The monograph describes the main methods for assessing different types of complexity. The concept of considering complexity in this monograph is also based on the fact that complexity is a comparative characteristic. It is given on a relative scale of difficulty. Therefore, complexity must be defined on a relative scale of “simplicity-complexity.” This concept motivates the consideration and analysis of the concept of “simplicity” as a complement to the concept of “complexity”. These concepts set the scale of complexity. The monograph provides a comparative analysis of the related concepts of simplicity and complexity. Three methods for assessing complexity are described: expert assessment of complexity, assessment of complexity using mathematical metrics, comparative assessment of complexity based on the theory of comparative analysis. The monograph contains a taxonomy of the main types of complexity. The content of the main types of complexity is revealed in detail: descriptive complexity, system complexity, modeling complexity, computational complexity. algorithmic complexity, deterministic complexity. Specific cognitive difficulties are described in detail. For cognitive complexity, special assessment methods are used. An interpretation of the concept of cognitive filter is given. Complexity is associated with the concept of complex systems. In most monographs on complex systems, the complexity aspect has not been considered or is viewed in a simplified manner. This monograph examines complexity as a characteristic of complex systems and the basis for their classification. Emergence is described as a characteristic of the complexity of systems and complex processes. The monograph contains a taxonomy of complex systems with characteristics of the complexity of different systems. Complex data systems have been explored. An analysis of organizational complex systems is given. Various types of complex ergatic systems have been described. An analysis of complex technical systems is given. Self-developing complex systems are described. autopoiesis of a complex organizational and technical system has been studied as a principle of systems development. Cyber-physical systems are described as an example of the development of complex systems. The monograph is intended for specialists in the field of computer science, systems analysis, artificial intelligence and philosophy of information.

The multidimensional open epistemological active network MOGAN is the basis for the transition to a qualitatively new level of creating logical artificial intelligence. Mivar databases and rules became the foundation for the creation of MOGAN. The results of the analysis and generalization of data representation structures of various data models are presented: from relational to "Entity — Relationship" (ER-model). On the basis of this generalization, a new model of data and rules is created: the mivar information space "Thing-Property-Relation". The logic-computational processing of data in this new model of data and rules is shown, which has linear computational complexity relative to the number of rules. MOGAN is a development of Rule - Based Systems and allows you to quickly and easily design algorithms and work with logical reasoning in the "If..., Then..." format. An example of creating a mivar expert system for solving problems in the model area "Geometry"is given. The monograph discusses theoretical and practical issues related to the completion of the implementation of the introduction of new forms of ownership in the formation of the railway holding JSC "Russian Railways". The organizational and economic results of the structural reform of railway transport in Russia are analyzed in comparison with the experience of modern reform of foreign railway transport. The variants of transformation of the modern cargo transportation management system in the new economic conditions are proposed. The main results of the study of modern economic and organizational conditions of cargo transportation, taking into account the specifics of working with a private car fleet, are presented. Based on a large-scale analysis of the loading dynamics of the main directions of the Russian Railways network and the resulting unevenness of operational work, new approaches are proposed for the formation of the market of freight operators of rolling stock. An economic assessment of the implementation of scenario options for the introduction of technological outsourcing is given on the example of JSC "Federal Freight Company" with the justification of a methodological approach for the formation of a consolidated fleet of wagons based on the algorithm of the cost method for calculating the throughput during the consolidation of a fleet of freight wagons. For practitioners and researchers involved in cargo transportation management, forecasting and formation of private fleets of freight cars. It will be useful for graduate students, undergraduates and students of economic faculties of railway universities when studying courses in the economics of railway transport and the cost of freight transportation.

The ageing management of power plants is nowadays a main issue for all nuclear industry actors: states, regulatory agencies, operators, designers or suppliers. Consequently, lots of operators have to deal with demanding security requirements to ensure the operation of power plants. Regarding with fatigue assessment of nuclear components, stringent safety standards are synonymous of new parameters to take into account in the fatigue analysis process, for instance: new design of fatigue curves, consideration of environmental parameters or stratification effects. In this context AREVA developed within the integral approach AREVA Fatigue Concept (AFC) new tools and methods to live up to operators’ expectations. Based on measured thermal loads, the Fast Fatigue Evaluation (FFE) process allows for highly-automated and reliable data processing to evaluate time-dependant cumulative usage factors of mechanical components. Calculation and management of results are performed with the software FAMOSi, thus impact of operating cycles on components in terms of stress but also with regard of fatigue can be taken into account to plan an optimized decision related to the plant operation or maintenance activities. The FFE process was exemplary applied in 2012 in the EnBW Power Plant of Neckarwestheim (GKN II) to perform an informative fatigue diagnose of a spray line flange for different operating cycles. This paper describes the calculation methodology but also some relevant results to point out the benefits of this method to the ageing management of mechanical parts.

Abstract A method of quantifying the relative stability of rotordynamic oscillations is developed. The approach is based upon application of Floquet theory, in conjunction with Poincaré mapping, to measured (and periodic) vibration data. Detailed knowledge of a dynamic model or of the internal dynamics of the system is not required. Example cases are evaluated for a rotor interacting with a clearance bearing in order to demonstrate the method. Results are presented and discussed for simulation data (obtained from a simplified model for the example system) and for measured data from an experimental test rig.

Volume 1 covers the execution of CPT-based site investigations and presents a comprehensive literature review of CPT-based soil behavior type (SBT) charts and estimation of soil variables from CPT results. Volume 2 covers the methods and equations needed for CPT data interpretation and foundation design in different soil types, while Volume 3 includes several example problems (based on instrumented case histories) with detailed, step-by-step calculations to demonstrate the application of the design methods. The methods included in the manual are current, reliable, and demonstrably the best available for Indiana geology based on extensive CPT research carried out during the past two decades. The design of shallow and pile foundations in the manual is based on the load and resistance factor design (LRFD) framework. The manual also indicates areas of low reliability and limited knowledge, which can be used as indicators for future research.

The production of semantic annotations has gained renewed attention due to the development of anatomical ontologies and the documentation of morphological data. Two methods are proposed in this production, differing in their methodological and philosophical approaches: class-based method and instance-based method. The first, the semantic annotations are established as class expressions, while in the second, the annotations incorporate individuals. An empirical evaluation of the above methods was applied in the morphological description of Neotropical species of the genus Lepidocyrtus (Collembola: Entomobryidae: Lepidocyrtinae). The semantic annotations are expressed as RDF triple, which is a language most flexible than the Entity-Quality syntax used commonly in the description of phenotypes. The morphological descriptions were built in Protégé 5.4.0 and stored in an RDF store created with Fuseki Jena. The semantic annotations based on RDF triple increase the interoperability and integration of data from diverse sources, e.g., museum data. However, computational challenges are present, which are related with the development of semi-automatic methods for the generation of RDF triple, interchanging between texts and RDF triple, and the access by non-expert users.

This project developed and evaluated methods for distinguishing between natural gases from different sources. Identification of particular "batches" of gas can be of considerable importance. For example, means of distinguishing between gases can demonstrate whether a gas appearing at the surface over a storage area is migrating storage gas or is gas formed by bacterial action above the storage zone. As another example, identification methods can allow detection of migration from a storage zone to an adjacent production zone. Two general methods were evaluated/developed in this project; tracers and compositional methods. Relative migration rates of a series of potential tracers were evaluated under a variety of conditions and in varying reservoir materials. Tracers having the best migration characteristics were identified. Potential tracers (either present in natural gas or added) which are not detected by electron capture or flame ionization detectors need improved methods of detection. The discharge ionization detector was evaluated for the detection of argon, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, Freon-14 (carbon tetrafluoride), and neon. Two computer programs, based on regression and factor analysis methods, to aid in the identification of gases using compositional analyses, were further developed and improved.

The problem of determining the investment priorities of the national economy development has been actuated. It has been argued that the formation of institutional preferences for activation of industry investment processes should be carried out taking into account the potential ability of each sectoral group enterprises to increase the added value. The scientific and methodical approach for sub-sectors investment attractiveness assessment has been formed on the example of the Ukrainian food industry. It has been recommended to use for this substantiated set of relative performance indexes which are duplicated in aggregate statistical state surveys based on the enterprise’s financial statements. It has been formed the recommendations for the investment priorities of food industry development in Ukraine which are based on the appropriate calculations made by the TOPSIS and CRITIC methods. Methods of economic-statistical and comparative analysis were used for structural and dynamic characteristics of the Ukraine industrial enterprises activities. Given that innovation processes should also cover small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, whose resource opportunities are mostly limited, it is proposed to expand them within the framework of a strategic partnership. Graphic modeling methods have been used to visualize the process of building the business structures resource potential on the basis of their strategic partnership. The influence of the motivational environment on the value of organizational relations within the partnership has been formalized.

The development of education is associated primarily with the use of ICT. A significant experience is already gained in how to use educational computer systems while new forms and methods of learning based on modern information technology are being developed and used. In relation to free software, a period when the quantity should translate into quality and an indicator of such translation is development of the concept of the introduction of free software in educational activities of universities. The proposed concept, let’s take Ukraine as an example, determines the main aim of introduction of free software in the training of pre-service of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science; defines the objectives, measures, principles, the role and value of free software in the informatization process and results of its implementation.

Geophysical detection of clandestine tunnels is a complex problem that has been met with limited success. Multiple methods have been applied spanning several decades, but a reliable solution has yet to be found. This report presents shallow seismic data collected at a tunnel test site representative of geologic settings found along the southwestern U.S. border. Results demonstrate the capability of using compressional wave diffraction and surface-wave backscatter techniques to detect a purpose-built subterranean tunnel. Near-surface seismic data were also collected at multiple sites in Afghanistan to detect and locate subsurface anomalies (e.g., data collected over an escape tunnel discovered in 2011 at the Sarposa Prison in Kandahar, Afghanistan, which allowed more than 480 prisoners to escape, and data from another shallow tunnel recently discovered at an undisclosed location). The final example from Afghanistan is the first time surface-based seismic methods have detected a tunnel whose presence and location were not previously known. Seismic results directly led to the discovery of the tunnel. Interpreted tunnel locations for all examples were less than 2 m of the actual location. Seismic surface wave backscatter and body-wave diffraction methods show promise for efficient data acquisition and processing for locating purposefully hidden tunnels within unconsolidated sediments.
