ABSTRACTJohn Hardwig has championed the thesis (NE) that evidence that an expert EXP has evidence for a proposition P, constituted by EXP's testimony that P, is not evidence for P itself, where evidence for P is generally characterized as anything that counts towards establishing the truth of P. In this paper, I first show that (NE) yields tensions within Hardwig's overall view of epistemic reliance on experts and makes it imply unpalatable consequences. Then, I use Shogenji-Roche's theorem of transitivity of incremental confirmation to show that (NE) is false if a natural Bayesian formalization of the above notion of evidence is implemented. I concede that Hardwig could resist my Bayesian objection if he interpreted (NE) as a more precise thesis that only applies to community-focused evidence. I argue, however, that this precisification, while diminishing the philosophical relevance of (NE), wouldn't settle tensions internal to Hardwig's views.

Introduction. Conclusion.

That is, is there any evidence that the items actually reduce the risk of a mishap?

AbstractAn important question in the current debate on the epistemic significance of peer disagreement is whether evidence of evidence is evidence. Fitelson argues (persuasively in my view) that, at least on some renderings of the thesis that evidence of evidence is evidence, there are cases where evidence of evidence is not evidence. I introduce a ‘screening-off’ condition and show that under this condition evidence of evidence is evidence.

Background: Oligohydramnios, or abnormally decreased amount of amniotic fluid, complicates approximately 1 to 2 percent of pregnancies. It poses a risk to the fetus by contributing to perinatal morbidity and mortality, and due to iatrogenic preterm delivery. An increa se in operative delivery increases the risk to the mother. Oligohydramnios may result from known etiological factors or it may accompany other pregnancy complications. When no etiological factor or association is identified, it is termed “Isolated Oligo hydramnios’. Treatment strategies: This review presents the various treatment options for oligohydramnios in the light of current available evidence. Maternal hydration whether orally or by intravenous route is perhaps the most well studied intervention. Many therapeutic agents have also been tried. Of these, L - arginine and sildenafil have been supported by several studies but conclusive evidence for the same could not be identified Conclusions: In cases of isolated oligohydramnios, therapeutic interventi on is desirable to prolong the pregnancy so as to avoid preterm delivery and to prevent adverse perinatal outcome. Based on present scientific evidence we recommend that oral hydration therapy should be offered to the eligible women. Use of sildenafil citr ate for this purpose cannot be recommended till its safety is well established in view of the recent reports of adverse fetal outcome.

ABSTRACTI argue elsewhere (Roche 2014) that evidence of evidence is evidence under screening-off. Tal and Comesaña (2017) argue that my appeal to screening-off is subject to two objections. They then propose an evidence of evidence thesis involving the notion of a defeater. There is much to learn from their very careful discussion. I argue, though, that their objections fail and that their evidence of evidence thesis is open to counterexample.

Abstract. The quality standards established by the higher education control agencies in Ecuador require the demonstration of the processes of Higher Education Institutions through the evidence of the activities, each period in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory entities. The present research presents the results of the implementation of a system of control of evidences in the Career of Engineering in Systems and Computing of the National University of Chimborazo as a tool for the generation and validation of the evidences. An analysis of the generic model of evaluation, diagnostic situation, development and implementation of the solution and analysis of the changes generated by the implementation was performed. The results evidenced that the time of search, validation and collection of evidence decreased, also the increase of the quality of the information according to established guidelines, on the other hand, the difficulties found in the execution of the project were unveiled.

Machine learning is a field of artificial intelligence that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed, posing the problem of using the outputs of deep learning software as evidence in a judicial process.
