Texto completo da fonteHow to reconsider forest poli0cs in territories described as “deforested”, yet characterized by a reposi0oning of the fight against deforesta0on on the poli0cal agenda? Based on these contras0ng situa0ons, this research explores the rela0onships between forest territorializa0on processes and state construc0on, at the crossroads of poli0cal sociology and poli0cal geography. The research studies the gazeAed forests in Côte d'Ivoire, as contested social spaces, due to their belonging to the state since the colonial period. Since 2018, forestry policies have aimed to maintain and regain forest cover in these gazeAed forests, by reclassifying them as protected areas or gazeAed agro-forests. On the one hand, based on a socio-historical analysis, this research demonstrates that these reclassifica0ons are part of ongoing processes of state construc0on and forest reterritorializa0on, in a post-crisis context, by different networks of public governance. These reclassifica0ons show the plurality of poli0cal forests, more characterized by their belonging to the state. On the other hand, this research discusses the social intermedia0ons between state and non-state actors (development agencies, private companies, environmental NGOs). While administra0ve elites nego0ate state sovereignty through processes of hybridiza0on and social intermedia0on with these interna0onal and na0onal non-state actors, the laAer also mobilize the state apparatus and administra0ve elites to deploy their narra0ves and socio-ecological engineering, with differen0ated resources. Finally, this thesis conceptualizes ethno-environmentalism and studies its sociogenesis and social mobiliza0ons. Ethno-environmentalism is characterized by a poli0cal reframing of deforesta0on around peasant migra0ons, a redefini0on of long standing social struggles over land tenure around the fight against deforesta0on, and the mobiliza0on of autochthony, as a poli0cal iden0ty, in an ethno-na0onalist context. Ethno-environmentalism contributes to a redistribu0on of social, poli0cal and symbolic resources between social groups, defined by their autochthony or their belonging to the social category of the “foreigner”
