Common to all commercial enterprises is the problem of violating the basics of the formation of intellectual activity. The same problem of enterprises’ intellectual activities is quite relevant from a practical point of view. One of the useful tools, the use of which makes it possible to translate the issues of intellectual activities, is the formation of a business model. In the process of the study reported here, a meaningful part of the intellectual business model of an enterprise was proposed and the corresponding concept was introduced. The main groups of indicators for assessing the level of intellectual activities of the business model of an enterprise were combined into the following clusters: qualifications (Q), skills (S), possibilities (V). The level of an enterprise's intellectual activities was assessed using an empirical and graphical method since the selected assessment indicators in their content can only accept point scores. The proposed methodology for forming a radar system to determine the format of business models for intellectual activity of trading enterprises is based on the definition of clusters of indicators to assess the level of an enterprise’s intellectual activities using an integral indicator. According to the radar system, the formats of enterprises' intellectual activities have been determined: innovative, integrated, rational, content-oriented, conducting. It was investigated that the potential for increasing the level of intellectual activity of the integrated format of the business model of an enterprise is about 14 %. The conclusion about the level of the enterprise's intellectual activities is made on the basis of determining the scale of values of expert assessments. Validation of the assessment of the level of intellectual activity of an enterprise was carried out separately for each format for all proposed clusters of assessment indicators. Based on the results of testing, recommendations have been compiled for choosing the format of a business model for the studied enterprises.

Topicality. Today, the profitability of the enterprise is the main indicator of economic stability, competitiveness, efficiency and the meaning of the creation and further existence of the enterprise in any field of activity. The main goal of the strategy for the development and efficiency of the enterprise is to ensure a sufficient level of competitiveness and obtain maximum profit, therefore, the search and justification of ways to increase the profitability of enterprises is always an urgent problem. In the modern world, during the period of active development of scientific, technical and innovative activities, the introduction of innovations into the activities of enterprises has a huge impact on the level of profitability of modern enterprises.Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to study the impact of innovative activity on the level of profitability of enterprises. In order to achieve the set goal, the following tasks were solved: the concepts of innovative activity and profitability of the enterprise were considered; the influence of innovative activity on the level of profitability of the enterprise is determined; the main indicators of innovative activity of Ukrainian enterprises are analyzed. Materials and methods. In the process of preparing the study, general scientific methods of cognition, observation, abstract-logical thinking, a systematic approach, and economic interpretation were used. Methods of a systematic approach to solving problems, as well as analysis, synthesis and unity of logical analysis and dialectical development, historical approach, statistical hypotheses and relationships, expert research.Research results. The article examines the concept of innovative activity and enterprise profitability; the influence of innovative activity on the level of profitability of the enterprise is determined; the main indicators of innovative activity of Ukrainian enterprises are analyzed. Directions for profit maximization and measures aimed at increasing the profitability of enterprises are proposed.Conclusion. The profitability of any enterprise can be increased due to the implementation of the results of innovative activities. The introduction of innovations makes it possible to produce products of higher quality and less energy consumption, and the operation of the enterprise is more efficient. But it can be said that one of the main problems of introducing innovations at enterprises is the unpreparedness of management to implement them in their economic activity. Although the efficiency of their use can significantly improve the profitability of business entities. Innovative activity is the direction of maximizing the demand for products, as a variety of forms of business organization, as a stage of the enterprise's innovative business strategy. The development and state of the innovation environment affects the level of profitability of enterprises. The introduction of innovations, the implementation of innovative activities at the enterprise allows to form such areas of profit maximization as: product, technological, organizational and management, resource, market. For the development and activation of innovative activities of domestic enterprises in the country, it is necessary to form and implement a system of targeted measures: development and introduction of a mechanism for granting benefits to enterprises that implement and realize the results of innovative activities; providing innovative enterprises with loans at a reduced credit rate; reduction of income taxation of enterprises that develop, implement innovations and use ecologically dangerous technologies, etc. The proposed measures will help create a favorable innovation climate, stimulate enterprises to increase their interest in the development and implementation of knowledge-intensive technologies, which in turn will lead to an increase in their profitability and competitiveness on the world market. In the country, there is no sufficient relationship between the amount of innovation financing for industrial enterprises and their own capital, the implementation of the results of innovation activity at domestic enterprises is expedient in order to increase their profitability, to determine an innovative development strategy, to make management decisions and increase efficiency and competitiveness. The prospect of further research in this direction is the identification of the relationship between the innovative activities of enterprises and their value indicators in the sector and the development of a universal model for assessing the impact of the innovative development of the enterprise on its profitability.

The article is devoted to the study of approaches to the formation of a mechanism for managing the competitiveness of enterprises. The main factors ensuring the formation of effective competitiveness in modern conditions, as well as ways and methods of increasing the competitiveness of enterprises are identified. The key aspects of the enterprise's competitiveness are considered, taking into account modern operating conditions and the influence of internal and external factors on the sustainability of its development. The influence of the war on the activities of domestic enterprises is analyzed. It is substantiated that in market conditions the efficiency of enterprises is largely determined by their financial and economic prospects, profitability and competitiveness. It is competitiveness that determines the ability of an enterprise to sell such goods or services, the consumer attractiveness of which is higher than similar ones offered by competitors. Factors with the help of which it is advisable to assess the level of competitiveness of an enterprise in the market have been identified. A number of measures have been proposed to increase the level of competitiveness of an enterprise in conditions of instability. The main problems of increasing the level of competitiveness of an enterprise are identified, related, first of all, to the development of a competitiveness management system, the main element of which is the competitive strategies of the enterprise. Management of an enterprise's competitiveness should be aimed at neutralizing, overcoming and limiting the influence of negative, destructive factors of the influence of the external environment on the level of competitiveness. Forming a defense against them, using positive external influences to build up and implement a system of competitive advantages and enterprise strategies. It is noted that the competitive strategies of an enterprise must be adapted to the peculiarities of the structure of the competitive environment, as well as to the peculiarities of market dynamics

An enterprise’s capability is based on the quantity and collocation pattern of the heterogeneous resources it possesses. Innovation resources are the source of enterprise innovation capability. However, there is still a “black box” problem of the impact of the intensity of government support on enterprise innovation. Therefore, it is necessary to study high- or low-level enterprise innovation capability by combining the internal and external factors of the enterprise—the background characteristics of R&D personnel and the degree of government support. Based on the configuration perspective, this study uses the qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method to conduct a comparative analysis of the innovation capabilities of enterprises in five time windows over six years with the longitudinal database of China’s industrial enterprises whose operating income exceeds RMB 20 million from 2010 to 2015. This paper summarizes two ways of realizing high-level enterprise innovation capability: female and highly educated R&D personnel type, and highly educated R&D personnel and high government investment type. The enterprise innovation capability is affected simultaneously by multiple conditional variables, and the impact of each conditional variable on enterprise innovation capability has a trend. Further, it analyzes the impact of every antecedent variable comparing high- to low-level enterprise innovation.

The article presents the systematization of approaches to assess the enterprises' level of competitiveness. The advantages and disadvantages of the most famous models for assessing the competitiveness of business entities are considered. The identified shortcomings made it possible to form a hypothesis for studying the enterprises' competitiveness, taking into account the industry factor, financial criteria and quality indicators of the enterprise. For the formation of an objective adaptation model for assessing the competitiveness of an enterprise, taking into account its industry specificity, the author's approach to assessing the competitiveness of an enterprise, taking into account industry specifics, based on the relative and qualitative indicators of the enterprise's activities, selected by the expert assessment method, is considered. For trade enterprises, groups of the most significant indicators have been formed that characterize the competitiveness in the areas of observation of the sales of a trade enterprise, its costs, financial position and financial results, for the market share of the trade enterprise, the level of prices for goods, for the level of service of the trade enterprise. The indicators characterizing the level of competitiveness of a trading enterprise are divided into relative critical indicators and a group of qualitative critical indicators, which are included in the calculation of the complex coefficient of enterprise competitiveness model based on the theory of effective competition according to the weighted average arithmetic formula. The article presents the results of approbation of the proposed methodology on the example of the “PAO Magnit” trading enterprise and its trade competitors operating in Voronezh. The obtained results of the author's methodology for assessing the competitiveness of a trading enterprise have practical significance; the proposed model can be adapted according to the criteria for selecting indicators and their quantitative indicator, which contributes to the use of this toolkit in future studies of the competitiveness of trading enterprises.

As the core engine of the digital economy, the digital transformation can make modern enterprises survive and develop better now. By the sample data of listed companies in the years from 2015 to 2020, this paper identifies the degree of enterprise digital transformation through text analysis, empirically examines the impact mechanism of digital transformation on corporate risk-taking, and fully considers the heterogeneity problems. The findings are as follows: (1) Digital transformation can improve the level of enterprise risk taking, especially the improvement of enterprise financial stability and strategic risk taking; (2) in terms of enterprise attribute structure, digital transformation can significantly enhance the risk-taking level of non-state-owned enterprises and high-tech enterprises; (3) the mechanism identification test finds that innovation-driven and enterprise value enhancement play a strengthening role in the role of digital transformation in promoting enterprise risk-taking level, and resource allocation efficiency as a mediating path weakens the role of digital transformation on enterprise risk-taking level. This study provides a basis for promoting the improvement of enterprises risk-taking: digital transformation can help enterprises maintain financial stability, improve innovation output capacity, enterprise value level, enterprise risk-taking capacity and sustainable development. At the same time, the Chinese government should take measures to further stimulate the willingness of state-owned enterprises to digital transformation.

This paper first portrays the equilibrium payoff of enterprise’s cooperation of environmental governance based on the Cournot model. Secondly, the evolutionary game model in complex networks is adopted to depict the evolution of environmental governance cooperative behavior among enterprises. Further, the evolutionary process of environmental governance cooperative behavior of enterprises is simulated considering the supervision behavior of government and the reputation evaluation behavior of environmental social organization. The results show that the cooperation level of enterprise group under self-organization condition will reach a low level; the supervision of government can enhance the cooperation level of enterprise group with high betrayal tempatation while it has limited effect on enterprise group with low betrayal tempatation. The reputation evaluation behavior of environmental social organization can realize reputation effect to improve the the cooperation level of enterprise group with high betrayal tempatation. The enhance of reputation sensitivity can optimize equilibrium distribution of reputation and it can strengthen the reputation effect on cooperation level. Based on the analysis above, the suggestions to effectively improve cooperation level are given.

Language, for various reasons, tends to be a neglected area in the school physics curriculum. Discussion of "literacy" in the context of science teaching is limited, and many teachers are unclear about the issues involved. However, so-called "active reading" exercises have had an impact on the science curriculum up to GCSE level as part of a broader campaign for enhancing reading for learning. This has helped to highlight reading in science but without necessarily clarifying the issues or attempting to integrate results with what might be called "standard measures of progress". This study uses reading exercises constructed around topics in the Advanced level physics course, to investigate reading among physics students. Evidence of student progress and achievement such as homework marks and the A level grade, are related to students' responses on the exercises, to obtain an objective assessment of the value of language-related activities. Reasons for the choice of texts and methodologies are two-fold: From the point of view of the physics teacher, to allow an investigation into the range of skills and abilities which students demonstrate on language-based material. For the students involved, to make participating in the exercises useful and relevant to their studies. Analyses are directed at looking at the text, task and responses individually from a linguistic as well as a pedagogic perspective, and more particularly at the relationships between the areas. Connections between reading competence and achievement in physics are shown and suggestions are made on how teachers could encourage reading, monitor the reading competence of students and identify students with problems. Implications for future research into language in physics are also discussed.

As organizations grow larger, so does the information base of the organization, and the need to findimportant information increases along with it. However, many organizations are neglecting theimportance of information. Enterprise search lets users search for information in multiple informationrepositories from one single application, without having to know where the information resides. The focalfirm of this research, Findwise AB, is a Swedish IT consultancy firm specialized in delivering searchsolutions to its customers. It has been shown that not many organizations have a strategy for their internalwork with enterprise search. Therefore, Findwise wants to be able to deliver enterprise search strategies toits customers. Such a strategy would facilitate the customers’ development of their internal enterprisesearch management. However, this requires the ability to define an organization’s current and future statewith regard to enterprise search management, something that, up until now has not been possible. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop an enterprise search management maturity (ESMM)model, which Findwise’s consultants can use for assessing an organization’s current state, as well aspossible future state within enterprise search management. Through an extensive literature study, incombination with an empirical study consisting of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, theESMM model was developed. The themes of the identified maturity levels of enterprise searchmanagement are; knowledge, management, priority, standardization, and sustainability. It is concludedthat the parameters to evaluate on each of these maturity levels are the three parameters information, technology, and user. Each of these parameters consists of three specific factors to evaluate, providingguidelines for what to look at in an assessment. This will enable Findwise to define an organization’scurrent and future state within enterprise search management, as well as enable organizations to gain themost benefit out of their enterprise search solution.

Northrop Grumman Newport News is committed to implementing lean on the enterprise level. This thesis is focused around work toward creating a global, high-level information and material value stream map for a specified pipe assembly. It identifies the largest areas of waste in the value stream and their root causes. The recommendations assist with the reduction and elimination of the major time delays, inventory buildups, re-work, excessive processes and other waste in the system. The pipe assembly chosen as the basis for the enterprise value stream map is part of a system, newly developed for the current aircraft carrier. The pipe assembly is representative of other pipe assemblies fabricated in the shipyard, so challenges experienced with the manufacturing and flow of the selected assembly are likely to be seen in many other pipe assemblies in the facility. A large number of assemblies was examined to determine the root causes of delivery problems. The analysis was based on the criticality of the ship need date. The root causes for the late assembly delivery were found to be inadequate material inventory levels in the warehouses, lack of fabrication timeline coordination between fabrication shops, late engineering drawing revisions, underestimated fabrication durations, late supplier delivery, late material purchase order placement, and lost material. Suggestions are provided to improve operational efficiencies by targeting the elimination of these root causes that result in the delay of assembly fabrication. Some include material ordering process reorganization, shop loading variability elimination, fabrication timeline alignment, metric realignment, and rework system prioritization. Recommendations for future work focus are
(cont.) concentrated on the control of the stock material inventory levels, alignment of the incentives across the enterprise, and reorganization of the planning processes.

This thesis within economics is examining the impact that remittances could have on the level of new small and medium sized enterprise start-ups. Remittances could be seen as a capital flow and would therefore increase the level of new SME start-ups but is this really the case? A model is developed with a panel data set over 45 countries all across the globe over a two year period. Six businesses environment variables are included in the regressions to see how the businesses environment affects the level of new SME start-ups. This model is also used when testing if the relationship between remittances and the level of new SMEs are stronger in the middle income countries than in the lower income countries. The descriptive statistics shows that both remittances and the number of new SME`s have increased from 2003 to 2005. The level of new SME`s have increased with a larger percentage share in the middle income countries relative to low income countries. The results from this thesis are somewhat difficult to interpret. Although there seems to be the case that remittances are not affecting the level of new SME start-ups when including all the countries in the same regression. As the countries are divided into two groups one can see a stronger relationship between remittances and the level of new SME started in the low income countries than in the middle income countries. One can also see that credit right and the cost of starting a new business is strongly related to the level of new SME.

Not only does IT allow us to do what we always did faster and more effectively, but it also allows us to do new things, organize ourselves differently, and work in ways previously unimaginable. However, these advantages come at a cost: as we become increasingly dependent upon IT services, we also demand that they are continuously and uninterruptedly available for use. Despite advances in reliability engineering, the complexity of today's increasingly integrated systems offers a non-trivial challenge in this respect. How can high availability of enterprise IT services be maintained in the face of constant additions and upgrades, decade-long life-cycles, dependencies upon third-parties and the ever-present business-imposed requirement of flexible and agile IT services? The contribution of this thesis includes (i) an enterprise architecture framework that offers a unique and action-guiding way to analyze service availability, (ii) identification of causal factors that affect the availability of enterprise IT services, (iii) a study of the use of fault trees for enterprise architecture availability analysis, and (iv) principles for how to think about availability management. This thesis is a composite thesis of five papers. Paper 1 offers a framework for thinking about enterprise IT service availability management, highlighting the importance of variance of outage costs. Paper 2 shows how enterprise architecture (EA) frameworks for dependency analysis can be extended with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Bayesian networks (BN) techniques. FTA and BN are proven formal methods for reliability and availability modeling. Paper 3 describes a Bayesian prediction model for systems availability, based on expert elicitation from 50 experts. Paper 4 combines FTA and constructs from the ArchiMate EA language into a method for availability analysis on the enterprise level. The method is validated by five case studies, where annual downtime estimates were always within eight hours from the actual values. Paper 5 extends the Bayesian prediction model from paper 3 and the modeling method from paper 4 into a full-blown enterprise architecture framework, expressed in a probabilistic version of the Object Constraint Language. The resulting modeling framework is tested in nine case studies of enterprise information systems.

Financial security is the basis for the effective development of any economic agent; it is especially important for enterprises, since their financial security underlies the security of both households and the state. This article examines the risks that can lead to the loss of the financial security of an enterprise, which the author classified into: general economic, industry- specific and risks of a particular enterprise. Hedging financial security risks will be most effective if the management of the enterprise evaluates the risks, using the classification proposed by the author. The financial security of an enterprise depends on the financial resources necessary for its normal condition, ensuring their placement and efficient use, financial stability with other legal entities and individuals, solvency and financial stability, as well as on the efficiency of the operating, financial and other activities of the enterprise. By the financial condition one can judge the solvency, liquidity and financial stability of the enterprise. In a market economy, defining the boundaries of an enterprise's financial security is one of the most important economic problems, since insufficient financial stability can lead to a shortage of funds for enterprises, and to their insolvency and, ultimately, bankruptcy, as well as "excessive" stability will slow down development, burdening the enterprise with excess inventories and reserves. Financial security should be considered taking into account the risks that arise both at the level of the economy as a whole, and at the level of the industry and at the level of the enterprise itself.

Abstract The world is in a journey to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emission targets in line with the Paris Agreement to limit the rise of global average temperature to below 2degC and strive to achieve 1.5degC combating climate change. PETRONAS has taken progressive steps to position the organization by declaring Net Zero Carbon Emission by 2050 aspiration. The immediate short-term target is to cap the GHG emission by 20241. Enterprise Decarbonization unit is established to accelerate decarbonization solutions & projects across the Enterprise encompassing Upstream, Gas and Downstream Facilities. The methods utilized for the execution is first to identify the emission sources across the Enterprise through evaluation of the actual & forecasted emission profiles for the past 5 years and next 5 years. The major sources such as Flaring & Venting, Stationary Combustion, Inherent, Fugitive and Purchased Energy are categorized and mapped. The possible solutions are also identified and mapped against the Focus Areas such as Carbon Capture and Storage, Energy Efficiency & Electrification Improvement, Zero Flaring & Venting and Renewables.1 The projects appliable to each facility are then measured quantitively in terms of their Cost, Schedule, Carbon Abatement & Project Complexity & Maturity. The projects are then ranked to an index, allowing prioritization and sequencing of high impact projects that could contribute to the target. The projects are then executed through a 3-pronged strategies which are front loading the activities, bundling solutions for scale and pace, and advocating open innovation. A dedicated corporate decarbonization budget is also allocated to drive the decarbonization project focusing on reducing emissions. Through the execution of the projects in a centralized and orchestrated manner, Enterprise Decarbonisation has been able to realise some early successes. The short-term projects and programs are accelerated to achieve the target as aspired based on the Net Zero Carbon 2050 Pathway2. The novel approach in this paper is the methodology used to identify, prioritize & accelerate programs to ensure quick deployment ensuring a good portfolio sequencing.

This research provides a cross-country perspective on the rate of digitalisation of Irish enterprises. We explore differences across countries, sectors and firm size categories by deploying data on both the usage of digitalisation technologies (stock of digital activities) as well as investment in new digital activities (flow). We draw on two main datasets: a) the Eurostat ICT usage in enterprises survey; and b) the European Investment Bank Investment Survey. We find that Ireland performs relatively well in terms of e-commerce and some more advanced technologies. However particular sectors and firm size groups (such as construction and smaller firms) display low levels of digitalisation. This supports the continued deployment of a sector-specific targeted policy approach that can cater for heterogeneous challenges faced by different firms. We find some evidence of correlations between enabling factors like employment skill levels and the cost of finance and the level of investment in digitalisation.

We examine the innovation and competitiveness of firms, especially with regard to the channels of technology transfer and the nature of innovation activities that influence firm performance in Cambodia's economy. Despite the growing importance of innovation, there has been no empirical analysis of the factors affecting technological and innovative development and the impact that these factors have on firms’ productivity in Cambodia. We use the World Bank Enterprise Survey for Cambodian enterprises for our empirical implementation. The results of the research indicate that overseas linkages that include both upstream and downstream activities could affect productivity growth at both firm and industry levels. We also find that technology and innovation have a positive impact on the productivity of firms in Cambodia.

This article discusses the concept of the social orientation of activity and the entrepreneurial approach at the level of the Russian Federation, including a number of aspects of the legal regulation of public relations between organizations of state power and social entrepreneurs. The main problem of the study is the study of the sequence of the assignment of the status of a social enterprise by the authorities Russia at the federal level. Currently, the question is being raised about the adoption of a separate federal legislative act "On the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Russian Federation." The introduction of the relevant law is necessary, since the reasons are the basis for the inevitability of consideration of public problems and the adoption of relevant official documents in all regions of the Russian Federation.

Public employment services (PES) offer tools through different channels to both employers and job seekers. The multiplicity of services and channels, paired with processes that are sometimes inadequately mapped, creates challenges when implementing digital systems. This document discusses how using enterprise architecture can provide a framework for defining and representing a high-level view of the organizations processes and its information technology (IT) systems, as well as their relationship with different parts of the organization and external entities. Having a strategic vision and a high-level design allows implementing systems in phases and modules to organize services to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. This document aims to support policy makers, managers and officials working with employment policies in understanding the benefits of implementing a comprehensive digital transformation in institutions within the framework of a strategic tool such as enterprise architecture.

Resumo:
This paper studies for the first time the impact on various measures of economic efficiency of regulatory complexity by sector in Spain. We base our analysis on an innovative database that classifies 206,777 regulations by economic sector and region, which highlights the growing volume of regulation, as well as its diversity by sector, region and business cycle stage. This analysis first looks at the aggregate impacts of sectoral regulatory complexity on the employment-to-population ratio, total working hours, sectoral GDP shares, labour intensity and capital intensity. Secondly it delves into the heterogeneous impacts observed across firms of different sizes and ages, drawing on the MCVL (Continuous Work History Sample), a rich database at the enterprise level. On the first front, we estimate a set of multiple fixed-effects model specifications across 13 economic sectors, 23 regulatory sectors and 17 Spanish regions over the period 1995-2020. Our results suggest that greater regulatory complexity has a negative impact on the employment rate and on value added. The effect on employment is consistent with previous findings for the United States. In particular, ceteris paribus, each additional increase in the regulatory complexity index is associated with a 0.7 percent drop in the sector-level employment share. Furthermore, our findings suggest that several distortionary sector-level effects of increasing regulatory complexity are taking place. For instance, markedly lower labour intensity and decreased sector-level investment rates, which confirm that greater regulatory complexity entails non-trivial sector-level costs. Distortionary effects of regulatory complexity materialise through compositional differences, mainly in the form of reduced wages and a lower investment rate.

Resumo:
China has recently become the third largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world and is a major source of development aid for developing countries, including those in the Caribbean. The capital flows it provides have taken the form of loans to governments to finance infrastructure projects and to expand production of oil and other raw materials. There have been indications of interest in further investment in the Caribbean from Chinese enterprises and entrepreneurs. This is driven by both state policy, which seeks to more actively integrate China into the global economy, and enterprise-level interests by both state and private enterprises. Caribbean governments have generally been receptive to prospective incoming FDI. This paper identifies the instances of Chinese FDI in the Caribbean to date and discusses the potential for further investment, highlighting opportunities in agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, and fishing. The factors influencing the emergence of Chinese FDI in the Caribbean include: the ongoing learning process by both investors and the governments of host countries; the performance of vanguard companies; transnational ethnic business networks; the local business environment; and the policies of Caribbean governments.
