Texto completo da fonteEnvironmental education is one of the main tools to overcome the current loss of biodiversity. Media and school occupy a central place to educate public, but they broadcast almost exclusively messages based on few spectacular and exotic animals (polar bear, whales…). Scholar education has a crucial role to promote knowledge, awareness, of schoolchildren and thus their willingness to protect a wide range of organisms, including less popular species. Using written questionnaires, we surveyed in ten different countries on Europe 7, Africa 1, and Asia 2, the perceptions of schoolchildren aged from 6 to 14 years for animals. The outcome is alarming: schoolchildren are disconnected from their local environment. Mirroring media, schoolchildren can list very few animal species requiring protection which they watched on TV screens. However, a survey of the perception of schoolchildren for snakes showed a moderate aversion level and a clear willingness to protect them, a surprising and encouraging result. We brought almost 600 children to discover native snakes through field experiences. Via the activation of the affective channel, almost all the children expressed their willingness to protect snakes, at the same level than panda and other loveable species. This study reveals the failure of the scholar educational system that focuses on dogmatic message, virtual information and intellectual approach to the detriment of field trips and physical contact with wildlife. A concrete approach of biodiversity is however essential and urgent to reconnect children with their local environment. Our results reinforce the (so far) fruitless message that schoolchildren should be bring into the field to generate positive attitude and behaviour toward the protection of the biodiversity. Environmental education should not neglect unpopular organisms declared. To progress, significant efforts must be produced to not limit conservation messages and actions to few iconic species

Texto completo da fonteFrance/tour/détour/deux/enfants is a TV show in 12 episodes produced by Jean-Luc Godard and Anne-Marie Miéville for the French television in 1979. The series was broadcast in April 1980, by the channel Antenne 2. This dissertation is aimed at contextualizing this period of Godards work in partnership with Miéville, and indicating internal procedures of this series which crystallized the experimental process initiated by Godard in his early works (especially with the Dziga Vertov Group, as well as in the previous TV series Six fois deux, sur et sous la communication, 1976), and which would lead to his later video production, particularly Histoire(s) du Cinéma (1989). This work is divided into two chapters: Tour and Détour. The first chapter historically situates the production years of the series and contextualizes the dialogue it establishes with video-artists from those years, who started to see television as a place that could be occupied by art. The second chapter takes the concept of detour as its starting point and proposes an analysis on how one can see this notion in the formal construction of the series. In this sense, I incorporated the very notion of detour in order to propose an analysis that would favor some of the works elements: the frame, the margin, the manifestation of the feminine, the use of slow motion, the gestures and the face. The conclusion indicates how France/tour/detour/deux/enfants was forsaken as an example of the television trend to override any attempt of experimental and critical creation conducted from within, whether condemning it to disappearance, or relegating it to a state of exception.
Bouyacoub, Asma. "L'enfant, originel et original, chez Violette Leduc et Marie NDiaye". Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019TOU20112.
Texto completo da fonteThis study addresses several themes relating to childhood, as viewed by Violette Leduc and Marie NDiaye. There are many similarities in how these two authors perceive childhood, even though their positions in the literary landscape are quite different. In both of their works, a child's parents are either completely absent or else ever-present, and family relationships are influenced by objects of value to society such as money and appearance. This naturally leads us to consider the relationship between children and society, and how each one views the other. As social values impinge on the family, familial roles become reversed and children lose both their identity and their bearings. Nevertheless, despite attempts by parents and society to impose rules on children that restrict their freedom, we argue that childhood is constantly in a state of renewal. This manifests itself in many different ways, including the varied creatures and objects which fill a child's environment. Childhood, and its depiction within literature, is both rich and complex. As the authors write in defence of childhood, they alternate between fiction and autobiography. In doing so, they provide a perspective on childhood which is at the same time original and which takes its origins in their own respective childhoods

Texto completo da fonteSince the last quarter of the XIXe century, the story of childhood knows a significant development. Nowadays, the irruption of new stakes, sometimes of radical changes, tends to modify the story of childhood's appearance. Authors comprehend the child less as a purpose than a means. A function of intellectual vector competes with his nature of subject, without nevertheless destroying it. This work analyzes the contemporary story of childhood written in French language through a principal corpus of four texts : L'Amant (M. Duras), La Maison rose (P. Bergounioux), Onitsha (J-M. G. Le Clézio) and La Honte (A. Ernaux). It crosses, thanks to a diachronic and synchronic contextualization, various critical tools (narratology, psychoanalysis, sociolgy, etc. ) and it is based on five chapters : the contemporary reorganization of the genre's archetypes, their absence, their permanence, their rewritings, more or less subversive, reinforces the demand of demystification that has seized the story of childhood ; thus breaking with a certain idea of the childhood's myth, the imaginative territories work out, on the ruins of this myth, attempts to recreate childhood ; L'Ere du soupçon observed by N. Sarraure generates an aesthetics of the fracture that dislocate the formal architecture of the genre ; the relationships between child and adult consciences permit to describe the identity where, in addition, the conflicts of the subject are overexposed ; lastly, the influence of human sciences engenders an intense critical discourse in childhood's stories

Texto completo da fonteSince the seventies, Georges Lemoine's work has become noteworthy because of the modern way in which he illustrates great literary texts (Le Clézio, Bosco, Tournier, Yourcenar, Roy, Wilde, Andersen, etc. ). The aim of this thesis is to show how these illustrations develop together with the texts and to show what graphic requirements are needed in the creation of the pictures. This thesis will therefore place the illustrator within the French publishing world, and then analyse the specific requirements for book illustration. It will also look at the various steps needed in the genesis of a picture, question Georges Lemoine's interpretation, and focus on the semantic levels on which the pictures have an influence. Finally, this thesis will point out the illustrator's thematic preferences and the peculiarities of his style, which are developed around the symbolic and allegorical levels of his chosen texts. This research is based on Georges Lemoine's whole repertoire of illustrations and on a large amount of private archives. Several questions arise: what does illustrating a literary text involve? Can the illustration become some form of literature in itself? What are the relationships between text and images?

Texto completo da fonteAs she was nominated supervisor of the first "salle d'asile" in La Flèche (72) in 1834, Marie Pape-Carpantier (1815-1878) has devoted her engagement to the education of the early childhood for forty years. To bring her action to a successful conclusion, she leaves her native province to take part in the foundation of the first "Ecole normale maternelle" in Paris in 1847. As it was named the "Cours pratique", this space became propitious to the innovation and the formation of the natural method and its spearhead : the objects lesson. By dramatizing it, Marie Pape-Carpantier thinks it will carry knowledge and morals. But, Marie Pape-Carpantier, known for her courses and conferences, is also the one who expresses an opinion both philosophical and theological. According to her, as it may use adapted means and as it follows the natural laws conceived by the Creator, education is a rational relation, initiated by the mother, for the benefit of morals, reason and conscience of her child

Texto completo da fonteThe service of "specialised teaching methods" created to welcome and take in charge intellectually retarded children has strongly progressed with the so-called "specialised forms" created to be part of renewal french school system which began as early as 1959. The present work which situates these "specialised teaching methods" in the whole scheme of education, will show how this pedagogical network will re-assume and "recuperate" the pupils which the normal educational system would not comprehend and accept because of their inadequate performances compared to the normal requirements at the different levels of the ordinary cursus. This cursus becomes more and more normalised by the compulsory itinerary through the first and second form. The vast number of orientations in the "specialised sections" and the mostly popular social origin of the pupils raise many problems as to the real nature of the alleged deficiences. Compared to the performances in the high schools, are not the lower results in "specialised sections" a revealing factor of the social and familial ingredients of the working classes whose adaptation to the secondary school system is a kind of break with their own traditional vision of school? are we not then to contemplate a completely different approach by the working-class families in their search for efficient educational patterns in conformity with their own social network and their own capacity for intellectual mobilisation (though modulated) within their own symbolical mastery of time?

She is the mother whom the dying soldier calls on | the ground of the battle waged in the name of the land that, in order to be most defended, calls itself »motherland ». Texto completo da fonteOur major concern is to understand gradual changes in the social groups of people turning to public creches. Through these changes the social role played by the creches will be questioned, and finally the link between the policy operated by child care centers on the one hand, and the way the parents use those centers on the other hand, will be involved. The sociohistorical research which was carried out enabled us to highlight the changes in the ideology on which this type of nurseries has been based, from the time they were created until now. The various family policies that have been implemented in France since 1950 was also examined, and the current running of public creche was assessed and questioned. The present study has been performed in Val-de-Marne, one of the very few French departments which have developed a growing network of institutional authorities such as the conseil general, city councils and the local family allowance office, which are commonly involved in child care policy. The collected information made it possible to pinpoint how equipment supplies and needs management are influenced by local policies. Finally, a complex network of relations appeared from the analysis of the way parents mentally picture child care centers. As a result, the cultural gaps or, conversely, the close links which have traditionally been reported as existing between certain types of social groups and the child care institution were questioned. A subsequent analysis of discourse made it possible to write an essay about the typology of the various relational patterns between parents and public creches. Our theoretical study was influenced by the concepts developed by Bourdieu - such as field, habitus and strategies - and the so-called comprehensive sociology, which implies a reversal in the mode of construction of an object

Texto completo da fonteRecognition plays an important role in animal communication systems and individuals often employ different sensory modalities to enact this activity. Although recognition has been widely investigated, especially for mother-offspring interactions, there is a dearth of information about multimodal recognition and the relative importance and interactions of various sensory cues. In this thesis, I explored multimodal communication in a colonial mammal – the Australian sea lion (Neophoca cinerea). Communication during mother-pup reunions is known to be multimodal in this species, yet the underlying processes of olfactory and visual recognition, as well as the interactions between acoustic, visual and olfactory cues remain unclear. Through chemical analyses, I determined whether chemical profiles differ among sex and age classes, colonies, and body regions of animals. Chemical similarities between mothers and pups indicate that phenotype matching may be used by Australian sea lions for olfactory recognition. I examined the role of visual cues in mother-pup recognition and found that age-specific visual cues assist mothers to refine their search for their offspring in the colony. Pups are capable of distinguishing various visual cues that can be used in the assessment of conspecifics. Having provided baseline information about the role of sensory cues in isolation, I determined how acoustic, olfactory, and visual cues are used in a synergistic way to ensure accurate mutual recognition and then interpreted the results using a cost-benefit perspective to disentangle the evolutionary pressures on each component of this communication system. I showed that although cues have the ability to convey given information in isolation, their role may be different when other sensory cues are present. Furthermore, there is a mutual dependency in the communication system, where the limitations imposed on one participant of the dyad affect cue use by the other. These findings contribute to a better understanding of mammal mother-offspring recognition and communication mechanisms in vertebrates

Texto completo da fonteThis master’s thesis in research and creative writing is divided in two parts – a novel and an essay. The former, La résilience des corps [The Resilience in Us], is a dualnarrative novel told from the perspectives of Clara and Romain, a couple whose plans for the future are turned upside-down by an unexpected pregnancy. Through the chapters, the protagonists take turns in the narrator’s seat, going back and forth between their past and present, while Clara’s voice multiplies under the grip of schizophrenia. The essay, titled Femmes sans enfant : une impossibilité? Analyse de La lune dans un HLM de Marie-Sissi Labrèche et d’Un léger désir de rouge d’Hélène Lépine [Women Without Children: An Inconceivable Prospect? An Analysis of Marie-Sissi Labrèche’s La lune dans un HLM and Hélène Lépine’s Un léger désir de rouge], answers a question that arose in the writing process of La résilience des corps: can a woman say « I do not want children » without having to justify her choice? Both novels are analyzed from a feminist perspective as to highlight the theme of motherhood in the characters’ words and action.

Texto completo da fonteWhat has become of children living in slums in Post-War France? Drawing from an investigation based on interviews, observations, archive work and statistics, I analyze in this dissertation the experiences and trajectories of individuals of Algerian, Moroccan and Portuguese descent who grew up in slums in Nanterre and Champigny-sur-Marne slums (Île-de-France region). I explain what it may have meant to live all these years in such a deprived, segregated and stigmatized form of housing and I insist on the diversity of residential experiences and of socialization effects. Indeed, previous slum children have known various trajectories and they don’t interpret this episode in the same way. Four profiles are analyzed: the reproduction of inequalities, the moderate mobilities, the reproduction of isolation, the upward trajectories. Two series of factor explain these differences. First, these families have first been targeted by national and local policies of housing and migration. By categorizing and treating differently slums depending on their inhabitants’ origins and on their location, these public policies have had very important short, mean and long time effects. Second, the trajectories have also been formed by their parents’ pre-migration resources and dispositions and by the relational contexts they evolved in while being in slums

Texto completo da fonteThe purpose of this doctorate is to study the manuscripts and the prints of the Bible historiale, holy history written by Guyart des Moulins by the end of the XIIIth century from the Historia Scolastica by Petrus Comestor. The Bible historiale meets a great succeed during the XNth and XVth and we tried to collect ail the remaining manuscripts ail over the world -144 pieces. Proposais for classifications have been made to understand this production. By the end of the XVth century, the Bible historiale is printed by Antoine Vérard; then we get interested by the twenty-seven printed during the first half of the XVIth century. In the manuscripts and the prints, we get attached to Gomer, the wife of prophet Hosea, the first of the twelve Little Prophets of the Bible. A catalogue of her representations in the manuscripts of the Middle Age and in the prints of the first half of the XVIth century was established; it helps us to appreciate the importance of the Jerôme'comments in the representation of Gomer in the Bible historiale; the character is used to show first how fits the biblical kinship in the Bible, then to push up the cult of saint Anna and finally to contribute to promotion of the cult of Virgin Mary, by its participation to one of the most important quarrel of the time : the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, and by its valorization of the Christian "holy family"

Texto completo da fonteIn Creep show, the narrator presents his creeps – some family members who are schizophrenics and inadequately appointed – and revives them by its words. By remembering certain moments when the insanity showed itself to him, he wants to dig up the buried and make them speak by lending them his writing. In a split narrative, which could evoke a collection of portraits in movement, the protagonists are presented as monsters, dreamers or sources of inspiration according to the narrator who literally dives back into the past. Presenting mental illness as the shame and the fear of the words, Creep show is a novel about silence and about the importance to understand adequately the insanity; it is a short narrative of seventeen scenes where the writing of a traumatism is experienced as a love story. The essay entitled “Je est des autres.” De l’esthétique borderline chez Marie-Sissi Labrèche describes the genesis of a “borderline” aesthetic. In a psychoanalytical and narratological approach established on the concepts of the melancholy, the kitsch and the crypt, the analysis tries to show which type of thematic and formal construction supports this aesthetic. With representative elements of the universe of Marie-Sissi Labrèche (the question of the limit, the death drive, the body obsession and the instability), the essay is interested in the way the narrator of Borderline ( 2000 ) offers a reading of the sedimentary identity and a misleading self-portrait. According to these elements of reflection, the hypothesis of a textual machine working in and by the instability (and the otherness) leads the analysis to the idea that writing the trauma could represent an attempt at reclaiming identity through the aesthetic called “borderline”.

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis is dedicated to the analysis of six novels published in France during the last fifteen years that explore childhood suffering : Viol by Danièle Sallenave (1997), L’Enfant éternel by Philippe Forest (1997), Le Cri du sablier by Chloé Delaume (2001), Tom est mort by Marie Darrieussecq (2007), Les Mains gamines by Emmanuelle Pagano (2008) and Un petit viol by Ludovic Degroote (2009). Although the unhappy childhood has long been addressed in fiction, these novels operate a unique deflection in their treatment of the theme. While acknowledging that this scandal defies reason, the authors of these texts, rather than attempting to explain, seek to invent the linguistic, stylistic and narrative means by which to express childhood suffering, without diminishing its unfathomable nature. In diverse ways, each looks to reproduce within the text this failure of reason, to question where axiology commands definitive judgments. According to these authors, the suffering of the child, before it can be denounced, must first be announced. In this way, the treatment of this theme may be perceived as a touchstone for speech, language, narrative – literature itself. The study of this corpus first requires meticulous analyses that employ tools and concepts drawn from diverse theories and methods – linguistics, stylistics, rhetoric, pragmatics, semiotics, narratology –, in order to shed light on the semantics and semiotic displacements operated by the six authors on the lexicon and the usual modes of signification. In the spirit of the sociocritical perspective, the results of these analyses will then be projected upon the French imaginaire social for the purpose of assessing the epistemological pertinence and the uniqueness of these literary strategies in regard to other contemporary discursive practices.
