Internal control tools constitute one of the modern frameworks approved by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO). "And the one which takes into account setting the objectives first, then estimating the possibility of those objectives being exposed to threats, then internal control procedures are designed that reduce the risks, and at the same time provide reasonable guarantees for achieving the organization's objectives and introducing all modern developments into the system. The contemporary trend of internal control focuses on the integration between managing the risks to which the organization is exposed and the internal control frameworks (Enterprise Risk Management- Integrated Framework) and its abbreviation (ERM), which provides the organization Management in conditions of uncertainty related to risks and their probabilities to be able to create and preserve value. The continuous developments in internal control systems, on the one hand, and competition between economic units, on the other hand, have led to many challenges through the use of modern technology and the innovation of new methods of development, which required the development of all sub-systems of control, including internal control systems, and then review the internal control structure and the extent of its acceptance of this computer-based technology and the effectiveness of its devices in providing information that supports the system's ability to adopt it. Based on this, the research topic was divided into five sections. The first section dealt with the research methodology, the second section dealt with the theoretical framework of the internal control system, and the third section dealt with the problems and limits of using electronic computers. The fourth section was devoted to studying the impact of using computers. The electronic section focuses on the components of the internal control system, while the fifth section is dedicated to stating the most important conclusions and recommendations.

What we understand is dependant on how we understand, by what means. With this in mind the electronic communication environment impact can be understood differently. The author singles out and interrelates lineality and simultaneity as the two competing modes of reasoning, whose application leads to strikingly contrasting results. The figure/ground approach, as it is practiced by contemporary researchers, allows to operate in the field more adequately. This fact is very important to know taking into consideration both its managerial potential and the educational promises. To add, the students today are known to be greatly influenced by the synchronous mode of perception and thinking as it is readily offered by electronic gadgets. On the other hand, they are often seen being estranged by the literary establishment's approaches still in use. In other words, there have emerged whole clusters of new problems in this respect both for the teachers and the studies themselves. To deal with them successfully, our task is to increasingly concentrate on renovating our electronic experiences communicating with the students to overcome the forthcoming difficulties in the process of promoting the new educational agenda and getting them adequately prepared for the new challenges of the electronic communication world. At to the notions which may be of great importance with this in mind, they include information retrieval, pattern recognition and interfacing, to name for the beginning just a few of them.

The objective of this paper is to assess the environmental impact of electric vehicles (EVs) and provide an overview of the current research in this field. This paper includes a literature review of various research studies on the impact of EVs on the environment, including their impact on air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and resource use. The findings of this paper suggest that EVs have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality, but their overall environmental impact depends on factors such as the source of electricity used to power them, and the materials used in their production. This research paper proposes a theoretical framework for assessing the environmental impact of electric vehicles (EVs). The framework is based on a systems approach, which considers the interrelated environmental, economic, and social factors that are affected by the introduction of EVs. The framework includes an analysis of the life cycle of EVs, including their production, use, and disposal, and considers the impacts of these stages on the environment. The proposed framework can serve as a guide for future research on the environmental impact of EVs. The paper highlights the environmental benefits and drawbacks of EVs, focusing on their impact on air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and resource use. The review concludes that EVs have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but their environmental benefits depend on factors such as the source of electricity used to power them and the materials used in their production.

Resumo:
High resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy has been used to examine the inner-shell and valence-shell electronic excitation of a number of polyatomic molecules, including SF₆, SeF₆, TeF₆, ClF₃, C₂H₃F, C₂H₃Cl, C₂H₃Br, C₂H₃I, Ni(CO)₄, (CH₃)₂SO and SO₂. The inner-shell and valence-shell electron energy loss spectra (ISEELS and VSEELS) were measured under low momentum transfer conditions with impact energy in the range of 1-3.7 keV and 0° scattering angle. Under these conditions the spectra are dominated by electric dipole-allowed transitions. The ISEELS spectra include all accessible core excitations of these molecules below 1000 eV equivalent photon energy. A number of specific investigations have been performed in order to extend present understanding of the physical nature of electronic excitation phenomena, in particular those involving inner-shell electrons. In addition the present work illustrates new applications of ISEELS to the study of chemical phenomena. In the investigation of (Coulombic) potential barrier effects in the "cage" molecules SF₆, SeF₆, TeF₆ and ClF₃, f-type continuum shape resonances are observed for the first time in the spectra of TeF₆ and they show very different spectral behavior from the d-type continuum shape resonances observed in the spectra of SF₆ and SeF₆. Consideration of both the ISEELS and VSEELS spectra indicates that there is a weakening of the potential barrier in going through the series from SF₆ to SeF₆ to TeF₆. The Coulombic potential barrier model provides an extremely satisfactory understanding of (a) the co-existence of intense continuum shape resonances and intense Rydberg transitions plus direct ionization continuum; and (b) the number and symmetry of continuum shape resonances observed in the ISEELS spectra of ClF₃. The physical significance of Coulombic potential barrier effects is further convincingly demonstrated by a comparison of the "central atom" inner-shell spectra of SF₆, ClF₃ and HCl. In contrast to earlier work, the present comparative study of the He(I) and He(II) photoelectron spectra and the VSEELS excitation spectra of the monohaloethylenes (i.e. C₂H₃X; X = F, Cl, Br and I) suggests that the HOMO orbital in C₂H₃I is predominantly of iodine 5p[sub ⊥](out-of-plane) character rather than of π character whereas the reverse situation applies to the HOMO orbitals of C₂H₃F, C₂H₃Cl and C₂H₃Br. Based on a term value correlation analysis, substitutional effects are found to be most prominent in the σ* -type orbitals, while the π* and Rydberg orbitals are less influenced. Linear correlations between the C-X bond strength and the term values for both inner-shell and valence-shell transitions to the σ* (CX) orbital are also observed. The ISEELS and VSEELS spectra of Ni(CO)₄ are compared with the corresponding spectra in free CO. The C and O Is spectra of these two molecules show some notable similarities despite the very different manifold of final states available. In particular the inner-shell spectra of both molecules exhibit intense ls → π* and ls → σ* transitions. High resolution ISEELS has been used to obtain vibrational resolved C Is spectra of Ni(CO)₄ and free CO. The implications and possibilities of studying dπ →pπ back-bonding in transition metal carbonyl complexes by high resolution ISEELS spectroscopy are discussed. The inner-shell (S 2s, 2p, C Is) excitations of (CH₃)₂SO (DMSO) measured by ISEELS are compared with synchrotron radiation studies of the S Is photoabsorption spectrum. The pre-edge regions of these spectra are interpreted as excitations to common manifolds of virtual valence and Rydberg orbitals. A linear correlation between the S-C bond lengths and the term values of S 2p[sub 3/2] → σ* (S-C) transitions is demonstrated for DMSO and a number of other sulfur compounds. The S 2p, 2s and O Is ISEELS spectra of SO₂ as well as the S ls photoabsorption spectrum are compared with and assigned according to the results of multichannel quantum defect theory calculations. The calculated energies and oscillator strengths of spectral features in these spectral regions are generally in good quantitative agreement with the measurements.

Chun, Yoonjong. "The impact of electronic commerce on buyer-supplier relationships in the Korean electronics industry". Thesis, University of Leeds, 2004. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/2613/.

Resumo:
Buyer-supplier relationships are said to be developing toward more collaborative forms based on hierarchical cooperation and away from adversarial forms based on market competition. However, proponents of transaction cost economics (TCE) have predicted that e-commerce would lead to more competitive relationships because e-commerce reduces transaction costs. Several theories have been employed in formulating the research framework for this study to explain these seemingly contradictory positions. The main underpinning for the conceptual framework of the research is based on the rationale of TCE, the dichotomy between market and hierarchy; while other theories, relational exchange theory (RET) and resource dependence theory (RD F) are used to complement TCE. This integrative view that combines TCE, RET and RDT proposes the research hypothesis that utilization of e-commerce will facilitate a collaborative relationship between buyer and supplier both directly and via the mediating roles of assets specificity, trust and dependence. A questionnaire-based survey has been carried out into the Korean electronics industry since electronics industries of Korea are well developed, and the business culture of Korean industry is similar to that of other Asian countries. Exploratory factor analysis has been conducted on the data collected by the survey to discover the underlying structure for the questionnaire items. Structural equation modelling using AMOS Graphic 4.0 has been employed to test the research hypothesis. Focusing on buyers (suppliers) and their key suppliers (buyers) in the electronics industry, this empirical study provides a support for the view that utilization of e-commerce is reconciled with growing tendency toward collaboration as an interaction strategy in an industrial market. This study claims that e-commerce contributes to building a long-term collaborative relationship rather than a transactional exchange for short-term economic gain. In addition, depersonalization caused by e-commerce has not happened yet, and electronic interconnection consolidates assets specificity, trust and dependence and collaborative relationship between trading partners either direct or indirect way.

Resumo:
In many countries, motorcycle crashes constitutes a significant proportion of all road crash fatalities and injuries and safety measures can be successful only if much more attention is devoted to this issue. Several Roadside guard systems such as concrete barriers, wire rope barriers and steel guard rails are used to protect occupants of four wheels and heavy trucks. Yet motorcycle riders are vulnerable to any crash scenario, resulting in major injuries. Also the climatic conditions have a major impact on motorcyclists. Thousands of motorcyclists are killed or injured in road accidents. The need to provide and improve crash survival programs in collision environment is the subject matter of interest and research. In this research, simulation of full scale crash tests of a motorcycle with rider driven in an upright position and sliding on the road surface impacting on steel barriers and concrete barriers are carried out by DEKRA Accident Research, to analyze real-world crashes. It is most important to evaluate head injury risks as it causes a serious threat to life. The motorcycle model with a rider are developed in MADYMO 6.3 and validated using the real time barrier tests. Under normal road conditions, the motorcycle driven in an upright position is assumed to have a pre-crash velocity of 60km/h impacting at 12° on a concrete barrier. The validation criteria used are: motorcycle kinematics, rider kinematics and the rider injury criteria. The results obtained in this research are found to be in a reasonable correlation with the experimental data. A parametric study is then conducted to investigate the crash for various impact speeds (40 km/h, 60 km/h and 80 km/h) under different impact scenarios (6° impact, 8° impact, 12° impact, 24° impact, 45° impact, 60° impact and 90° impact). An icy road condition is then studied. A study of kinematics and injury parameters for a motorcycle rider is proven to be different under various impact speeds (40 km/h, 60 km/h and 80 km/h) under different impact scenarios (6° impact, 8° impact, 12° impact, 24° impact, 45° impact, 60° impact and 90° impact). Design of Experiments is conducted to study the contribution of the road condition, impact angles, speed and the interaction of these factors. The result from this study helps in understanding the factors affecting the crash and rider injuries. Design of Experiment also provides a valuable knowledge about the contribution of factors chosen (road type, angle of collision and speed) towards accidents.

Gupta, Naman. "Head impact evaluation onto conventional tempered glass and laminated glass car windows in side impact and rollover accidents". Thesis, Wichita State University, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10057/7036.

Texto completo da fonte
Resumo:
The occupant injuries in the side impact crash and rollover are more severe than those in frontal impacts as the occupant is partially or fully ejected through the side window and comes in contact with foreign objects such as poles, trees, other vehicles, etc. Since ejections are mainly caused by failure of side window glass conventionally made of tempered glass, the vehicle side window glass is increasingly being replaced with laminated glazing by the automotive industry. Laminated glass does not break upon impact and helps in keeping the occupant from ejecting out of the car in side impact or rollover. In this research, the impact injury potential to the human head is studied and quantified for both tempered glass and laminated glass windows. First, the finite element (FE) models of tempered glass and laminated glass are developed in Hypermesh. These FE models are quasi-statically tested with a hybrid III dummy free-motion head-form (FMH). Force versus displacement graphs are plotted and validated with the results obtained from a physical static experiment. A series of impact test simulations are conducted on both tempered and laminated glass with the H-III FMH at varying impact speeds. Acceleration and the head injury criteria (HIC) values are determined for each impact test simulation. The simulations clearly indicate that the tempered glass fails upon impact and the FMH ejects; however the laminated glass does not break and contains the FMH. A second series of impact test simulations involve a FE model of a rigid pole placed behind the two glass types to study the secondary head impacts. The results show that the tempered glass breaks and allows head to strike the pole with high head injury potential, whereas the laminated glass contains the head. Based on the results, this study demonstrates the laminated glass acts as a shield between the occupant and the surrounding objects and protects the occupant from ejecting.

Suryanarayana, Vidya. "Impact of hypervisor cache locking on performance". Diss., Wichita State University, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10057/10616.

Texto completo da fonte
Resumo:
Server virtualization has become the modern trend in various industries. Industries are resorting to the deployment of virtualized servers in order to cut the cost of additional, expensive hardware and consolidate the servers on minimal hardware for easier management and maintenance. Virtualized servers are often seen connected to disk arrays in many industries ranging from small to medium business to large data centers. In such a setup, assuring a low latency of data access from the disk array plays an important role in improving the performance and robustness of the overall system. Caching techniques have been researched and used in the past on traditional processors to reduce the number of memory accesses and have proven benefits in alleviating the response times of applications. The research done in this paper explores caching on the hypervisor and analyzes the performance of data cache locking technique in hypervisor caches. The research aims at reducing the Input / Output (I/O) latency in a server virtualized Storage Area Network (SAN) setup, which thereby increases the performance of applications running on the virtualized servers. The authors introduce a miss table that can determine the blocks of data in the hypervisor cache that need to be locked. Way cache locking method is used for locking, such that only selected lines of cache are locked (not the entire cache). The proposed cache locking technique is later evaluated with the introduction of a small victim buffer cache and probability based cache replacement algorithm. Valgrind simulation tool was used to generate memory traces by virtual machines (VMs). Experimental results show an improved cache hit percentage and a considerable reduction in the I/O response time due to the proposed cache locking technique when compared to the results without hypervisor cache locking.

Resumo:
On-board electronics in advanced military apparatus are often subjected to severe ballistic shocks and vibrations. Safeguarding on-board electronic sensors from such transient shocks due to ballistic impact is of concern. While several studies document material characteristics of electronic boards under quasi-static and low impacts, few researchers addressed the behavior of these boards under severe impact loading. This paper presents the results of testing electronic boards under different strain rates to assess the effects of strain rates on modulus of elasticity of the boards. The results are used to suggest material models that can be used in finite element codes to accurately describe the behavior of these boards under impact loading.

Resumo:
This paper brings new evidence on the impact of The Peruvian Job Youth Training Program (Projoven). Compared with prior evaluations of the program, this one has several advantages. This is the first experimental impact evaluation of Projoven, and also the first to measure impacts over a longer period: almost three years after training. Additionally, the evaluation supplements data from a follow-up survey with administrative data from the country's Electronic Payroll (Planilla Electrónica), allowing for a more accurate measure of formal employment. It also measures whether socioemotional skills of beneficiaries improved with program participation. The evaluation finds a high long term positive impact of Projoven on formal employment. It also finds certain heterogeneity of program impacts across subpopulations. Impacts on formal employment vary depending on the beneficiaries' gender and age, with different patterns of statistical significance depending on the data source used to measure employment formality. Finally, it does not find significant impacts on socio-emotional skills.

This paper summarizes a randomized experiment to study the effects of an Internet-based intervention on type 2 diabetes patients in Montevideo, Uruguay. A specially designed website and electronic social network allowed participants to navigate freely, download materials, and interact with other diabetics and specialists. No significant impact was found on participants' knowledge, behavior, or health outcomes. Only a minority of patients logged on to the website, and most were only reached by email and mobile text (SMS). Patients' gender, marital status, and education influenced their participation on the website.
