Diabetic retinopathy is a medical condition that occurs due to diabetic mellitus causing blindness in the later stages. As the name says it is caused for people with the diabetes of type 1 and type 2 for a period of 20 years or more. However, early diagnosis and proper treatment at the initial stages could reduce aggressive forms of threatening retinopathy by up to 90%. According to the 2019 census from the ninth edition of the IDF Diabetes Atlas, India is put in the second slot right up to 2045 with people who are aged between 20-79 years. In 2019, India had 77 diabetic patients. In the recen

One hundred fifty subjects aged 30-70 years attending OPD at Old Civil hospital, Surat, participated in the study and were divided into three groups. Group I included 50 healthy non-diabetic subjects who served as control. Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a significant public health concern affecting individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM). Despite treatment advances, a substantial proportion of patients do not respond adequately. This study investigates risk factors associated with the progression of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) to proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) in type-2 diabetes patients. BACKGROUND Patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) are 25 times more likely to become blind than non-diabetics.1 One of the main difficulties in establishing a relationship between the degree of hyperglycemia and the long-term complications of diabetes is the lack of a reliable and objective method for the assessment of diabetic control. Recordings of glycated proteins, serum proteins, and primary hemoglobin, have added a new dimension to glycemia assessment. HbA1c has been known to be a marker to assess the long-term control of diabetes mellitus. Few studies have shown the correlation between

Every diabetic patient after ten years of the disease is at risk of diabetic retinopathy and should thereby be referred to an ophthalmologist for screening.
