2053 Background: Poor T cell homing hinders the development of effective cell therapy for central nervous system (CNS) malignancies. Lessons learnt from inflammatory brain diseases can give insight into how to overcome the blood brain barrier (BBB) blockade created by cancer. Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule (ALCAM; CD166) is a pathological adhesion molecule upregulated in the endothelium of a number of inflammatory/infiltrative CNS diseases, such as multiple sclerosis. Antibodies blocking ALCAM decrease leukocyte access to the brain and are currently being tested in a clinical trial for MS. Methods: We studied the difference in the dynamic signature of adhesion molecules in the “anergic” brain tumor endothelium and that of infiltrative brain conditions. Consequently, we mapped the ALCAM minimal binding region to domain 3 (D3) of CD6 and created an artificial molecule with the intent of creating a novel cellular platform to reverse endothelial anergy, through ALCAM specific binding. Results: GBM endothelium fails to launch the second wave of adhesion molecules necessary for firm T leukocyte capture and effective BBB transmigration. Engineered D3 on the T cell crosslinked to ALCAM on endothelial cells in proximity ligation assays (PLA; < 40nm) during TEM. Under shear stress, D3 T cells showed a global improved ALCAM specific trafficking kinetics: higher capture on ALCAM+ endothelium, rolling with slower velocity, and better TEM. In an ex vivo model of BBB, D3 T cells exhibited higher transmigratory ability. We discovered that signaling through the D3 endodomain phosphorylated pZAp70 recruiting Talin that enables LFA-1 (ICAM-ligand) open confirmation, mediating effective TEM. Lastly, in an orthotopic model of GBM, D3 T cells homed more and accumulated at the tumor site compared to NT controls. And, testing Her2 CAR T cells on D3 platform showed an advantageous homing after IV administration which was reflected in tumor control and better survival. Conclusions: We created a cellular platform that enables targeted brain delivery of T cells. This platform serves as a gateway to the effective cellular therapeutics for brain malignancies but potentially as a delivery system for complex biologics for other pathological conditions.

Neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer disease (AD), afflict an increasing proportion of the older population with aging. Decreased exposure to sunlight and decreased consumption of fish, fruits, and vegetables, are two epidemiological factors that appear to be related to the pandemic of AD. In addition to replacing simple with complex carbohydrates and avoiding saturated fat, two nutritional components, vitamin D (acting through the endogenous hormonal form 1α,25 dihydroxyvitamin D, 1,25D) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (acting through the docosanoid lipidic modulators resolvins and neuroprotectins) have high potential for prevention of Alzheimer disease. 1,25D is a neuroprotective, it acts both directly and indirectly in neurons by improving the clearance of amyloid-beta by macrophages/microglia. Resolvins and neuroprotectins inhibit amyloidogenic processing of amyloid-precursor protein, inflammatory cytokines, and apoptosis. It is likely that the increased consumption of vitamin D and fish oil could prevent neurodegeneration in some subjects by maintaining adequate endocrine, paracrine, and/or autocrine production of 1,25D and the DHA-derived lipidic modulators. Before firm recommendations of the dosage can be proposed, however, the in vivo effects of vitamin D3 and DHA supplementation should be investigated by prospective studies.Key words: Alzheimer disease, vitamin D3, DHA, fish oil

An adult male cat presented to the Ontario Veterinary College after having a seizure at the humane society. The cat was diagnosed with primary hypoparathyroidism and was treated with calcium and vitamin D3 supplementation. Calcium supplementation included subcutaneous (SC) administration of diluted calcium gluconate according to protocols described in recent literature. Seven days after SC calcium administration, firm SC masses developed in the intrascapular area where the injections were given and in the dependent axillary area. These areas became raised, formed crusts, necrosed, and left scars. Although not histopathologically confirmed, the author postulates that this was a direct reaction to SC calcium gluconate administration.

The article presents data about the content of active metabolite of vitamin D3 – 25OHD3, calcium (total, bounded with protein and ultrafiltrated), inorganic phosphorus, magnesium and alkaline phosphatase activity and its isoenzymes in the blood of cows and their calves in the early postnatal period.Studies were conducted in the cows of the Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed and calves obtained from them. The experiment was performed during the winter housing period in pilot farm «Pasichna» of Institute of forage and agricultural Podillya NAAS of Ukraine, located in the natural geographical areas of Podillya. The blood for tests was collected from the jugular vein before morning feeding in the 5th−7th day since calving. The blood from the calves was collected in the following dates: at 5th−7th days old and at 28–30th days old. Vitamin D provision rate of animal organism was evaluated for the content of 25OH D3 concentration in blood. The level of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol is considered as a total reflection of the endogenous formation of cholecalciferol in the skin and its receipts from feed or vitaminpreparations. The concentration of 25ОНD3 in the blood of the examined animals was detected by means of the enzymelinked immunoassay using the test system developed by the Immunodiagnostik. The method is based on the competitive binding of 25OHD3 serum and 25OH D3-biotin with vitamin D3-binding protein (VDBP), that immobilized on 96-well immunological plates. The content of calcium (total, bounded with protein and ultrafiltrated), inorganic phosphorus, magnesium and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity were detected usingthe biological test kits produced by the Pliva Lachema firm (the Czech Republic). The performed research reported that the content of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in serum of calves at 5–7-days age old was in the range of 29 to 34 nmol/l and slightly increased for the 28–30-days. It was established the dynamics of changes in the content of total calcium and its fractions, inorganic phosphorus, magnesium and activity of alkaline phosphatase and its isoenzymes in calves blood from 5–7- to 28–30-day-olds. The concentration of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in the blood of calves in the first days after birth was lower, and the concentration of calcium and inorganic phosphorus – higher compared with their values in the blood of mothers in the postpartum period. It was found that the activity of alkaline phosphatase in the calf serum was higher, compared with its value in the serum of mothers. The increase in activity of alkaline phosphatase in the calf serum is expressed to a greater extent due to its bone enzyme.

The study aimed to determine the efficiency of a wastewater treatment plant and the quality of effluent discharged by the plant into the receiving water body (Okochiri River) in Eleme, Rivers State. The study lasted for four months. Wastewater samples were collected at various stages of the treatment unit and tested for major water quality parameter such as Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), oil/grease, phenol, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and sulphide. In general, the composite wastewater treatment system (comprising dissolve air floatation, Rotary Bio-Disk, and sedimentation unit) was effective in pollutant removal, except for sulphide, which had a negative efficiency (-238%). In line with Pearson Correlation, there are strong positive relationships between several parameters, such as pH and Sulphide (0.93), Phenol and Oil/grease (1.00), and Phosphate and Sulphide (0.91). The Principal Component Analysis yielded four principal components (PC1-4): PC1 parameters with the highest loadings on the first factor (D1) were sulphates and phenols, whereas Chemical Oxygen Demand and Biological Oxygen Demand had the highest loadings on the second factor (D2). Dissolved oxygen was most strongly associated with the third factor (D3), and pH was the parameter with the highest loading on the fourth factor (D4). It is recommended that the wastewater treatment system's overall efficiency be improved for the system to consistently meet regulatory limits for pollutant control. Recommendations for improving system efficiency include (1) ensuring regular maintenance of individual units in the treatment plant; and (2) maintaining optimal operating conditions for the rotary bio-disk unit.

Vitamin D supplementation is proposed as a fall prevention strategy, as it may improve neuromuscular function. We examined whether three years of vitamin D supplementation (400, 4000 or 10,000 IU daily) affects postural sway in older adults. Three hundred and seventy-three non-osteoporotic, vitamin D-sufficient, community-dwelling healthy adults, aged 55–70 years, were randomized to 400 (n = 124), 4000 (n = 125) or 10,000 (n = 124) IU daily vitamin D3 for three years. Sway index was assessed at baseline, 12-, 24- and 36-months using the Biosway machine. We tested participants under four conditions: eyes open or eyes closed with firm (EOFI, ECFI) or foam (EOFO, ECFO) surfaces. Secondary assessments examined sway in the anterior-posterior (AP) and medio-lateral (ML) directions. Linear mixed effects models compared sway between supplementation groups across time. Postural sway under EOFO and ECFO conditions significantly improved in all supplementation groups over time. Postural sway did not differ between supplementation groups at any time under any testing conditions in normal, AP or ML directions (p > 0.05 for all). Our findings suggest that high dose (4000 or 10,000 IU) vitamin D supplementation neither benefit nor impair balance compared with 400 IU daily in non-osteoporotic, vitamin D-sufficient, healthy older adults.

Abstract von Willebrand factor (VWF) is a large multimeric protein whose monomers are of the domain structure D’-D3-A1-A2-A3-D4-B1-B2-B3C1-C2. The three tandem A domains mediate several important functions of the protein including supporting platelet adhesion, through an interaction of A1 with the platelet GP Ib-IX-V complex, and binding collagen, through A3 and A1. Further, the A2 domain contains the cleavage site for the plasma metalloprotease ADAMTS-13, which processes the newly synthesized and extremely adhesive ultra-large forms of VWF (ULVWF) to the forms normally found in plasma. Our goal was to compare the functions of the individual A domains as isolated domains to their function in the context of the A1-A2-A3 fragment. All recombinant domains were produced in bacteria. The A1-A2-A3 fragment contained an N-terminal thioredoxin-tag and a C-terminal 6Xhis tag and was purified in 2 steps using nickel and heparin columns. The recombinant protein was correctly folded, as indicated by the fact that it was recognized by a number of conformation-specific antibodies. Using ELISA, we examined the interaction of the fragment with both glycocalicin (the soluble extracellular domain of GP Iba) and collagen. At equivalent concentrations, A1-A2-A3 bound collagen better than did the isolated A1 and A3 domains, but the binding to glycocalicin was approximately 7.5 times lower than the A1 domain. We then tested the ability of the fragment to support platelet adhesion under flow, by coating the fragment onto a coverslip that made up the bottom of a parallel-plate flow chamber. In contrast to the findings with immobilized glycocalicin, immobilized A1-A2-A3 supported the attachment, rolling, and firm adhesion of the platelets to the surface, whereas A1 did not support firm adhesion. Finally, we tested cleavage of the fragment by plasma ADAMTS-13, using both ELISA and western blotting to detect cleavage. The rate of cleavage of the A1-A2-A3 fragment was much slower than that of the recombinant A2 domain, needing a longer incubation time to achieve a similar percentage of cleavage in a 15 fold higher concentration of plasma. These results show clearly that within the triplicate A domains of VWF, adjacent A domains influence each other’s functions, possibly by binding each other or by conformational modulation. The fact that the fragment is able to support firm platelet adhesion in isolation suggests that it may contain a second, previously unidentified binding site for platelet receptors.

We propose a roll-to-roll process for vitamin D3 patch production. A solution of 7-dehydrocholesterol is applied to a plastic film by roll-to-roll slot-die coating and dried by a far-infrared lamp. Upon exposure to ultraviolet B irradiation, these films are converted to previtamin D3 films. After heat-treating the previtamin D3 film, high-performance liquid chromatography measurements are performed using commercial vitamin D3 as a standard sample. The results confirm that vitamin D3 can be produced by large-area coating and post-treatment processes. Specifically, 3.16 ± 0.746 mg of vitamin D3 is obtained through ultraviolet B irradiation and heat-treatment of 24.8 ± 1.44 mg of coated 7-dehydrocholesterol.

Vitamin D3 is available in oral and injectable dosage forms. Interest in the transdermal route as an alternative to the oral and parenteral routes has grown recently. In this study, several film-forming solutions for the transdermal delivery of vitamin D3 were prepared. They contained 6000 IU/mL of vitamin D3 that formed a dry and acceptable film in less than 5 min after application. The formulations consisted of ethanol and acetone 80:20, and one or more of the following ingredients: Eudragit L100-55, PVP, PG, limonene, oleic acid, camphor, and menthol. Vitamin D3 release was studied from both the film-forming solution and pre-dried films using a Franz diffusion cell. The film-forming solution released a significant amount of vitamin D3 compared to the dry film, which is attributed mostly to the saturation driving force due to the evaporation of volatile solvents. In vitro permeation studies through artificial skin Strat M® membrane revealed that the cumulative amount of vitamin D3 permeated after 24 h under the experimental conditions was around 800 IU across 3.14 cm2. The cumulative permeation curve showed faster permeation in earlier stages. Young’s modulus, viscosity, and pH of the formulations were determined. Most of the formulations were stable for 3 weeks.

Vitamin D plays a crucial and very well-known role in regulation of calcium homeostasis and bone metabolism and mineralization. However, a huge and more recent body of evidence supports the positive influence of vitamin D on the regulation of immune response, ranging from protection against respiratory tract infections to prevention and management of asthma. Nevertheless, vitamin D deficiency is a very common condition and there is an increasing need for suitable products for proper supplementation, allowing good compliance also in specific populations. Orally disintegrating tablets (ODT) were first developed to overcome the difficulty experienced by pediatric and geriatric patients of swallowing traditional oral dosage forms and, recently, orodispersible films (ODF) are gaining popularity as novel dosage form for assuming active pharmaceutical ingredients, vitamins, and ingredients for food supplements. This study describes a 2000 IU Vitamin D3 ODF for daily intake, consisting of hydrophilic polymers and suitable excipients, manufactured by film-casting process. Elongation-at-break (E%), Young’s modulus (Y), and tensile strength (TS) were investigated using a dynamometer. Chemical stability was evaluated assaying the vitamin D3 in the films stored at different environmental conditions. In addition, in vitro disintegration and dissolution studies were performed. Correlation existed between the mechanical properties of the film and the residual water, acting as plasticizer. The stability study showed that vitamin D3 assay was ≥90% also after 3 months at 40 °C. The film disintegrated in less than 1 min and the vitamin D3 released was ≥75% after 15 min. An ODF with suitable properties can be manufactured and used as innovative dosage form for vitamin D3 food supplements.

Cotton photosynthetic efficiency and the root–shoot relationship are two important physiological indexes affecting the final yield, but the interactive effects of plastic film mulching and planting density on the cotton photosynthetic efficiency and root–shoot relationship have rarely been reported. We aimed to investigate the optimal plant density with or without plastic film mulching for improved seed cotton yield in southern Xinjiang. Therefore, a two-year field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of plastic film mulching (with or without plastic film mulching) and planting density (D1: 9 × 104 plants ha−1; D2: 18 × 104 plants ha−1; D3, 22 × 104 plants ha−1, local conventional planting density; D4, 27 × 104 plants ha−1) on the cotton root–shoot relationship, photosynthetic parameters, and seed cotton yield. Our results showed that the seed cotton yield was improved under plastic film mulching at all planting densities, but economic income was significantly lower in comparison to without plastic film mulching in 2023. Compared with D3, seed cotton yield and economic income at D2 increased by 6.9% and 12.2%, either with or without plastic film mulching, respectively. The highest increase in the seed cotton yield in D2 under plastic film mulching was due to the greatest improvements in the root production capacity and photosynthesis. The boll capacity of the root system (BCR) and boll loading of the root system (BLR) in D2 were the highest among all treatments with film mulching, being 9.0% and 16.9% higher than that in D3 in 2022 and 2023. However, the root–shoot ratio (R/S) was 7.1% and 6.9% lower in D2 than D3, under film mulching, in 2022 and 2023. Moreover, moderate plant density (D2) improved the SPAD value, chlorophyll fluorescence (Fv/Fm and PIabs), and photosynthetic parameter (Pn, Tr, and Gs) and decreased Ci compared with other planting density treatments in both years. Further analyses with correlation analysis showed that the seed cotton yield was highly positive correlated with BLR, BCR, and the photosynthetic parameter. In summary, suitable planting density (18 × 104 plants ha−1) combined with plastic film mulching has the potential to obtain high yields by enhancing the efficiency of photosynthetic assimilates, improving the capacity of cotton root production, providing a reference for suitable planting density under plastic film mulching.

Abstrak--- Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Untuk menghasilkan film animasi Pembelajaran Masa Nifas dan Menyusui untuk Program Studi D3 Kebidanan di Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, (2) Untuk mengetahui respon peserta didik terhadap film animasi Pembelajaran Masa Nifas dan Menyusui untuk Program Studi D3 Kebidanan di Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha yang telah dihasilkan. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan yang mengacu pada model ADDIE. Pada model ini memberikan kesempatan untuk melakukan evaluasi dan revisi secara terus menerus dalam setiap fase yang dilalui, sehingga produk yang dihasilkan menjadi produk yang efektif. Adapun tahapan dalam model ADDIE ini adalah analisis (analysis), desain (design), pengembangan (development), implementasi (implementation) dan evaluasi (evaluation). Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini adalah berupa DVD dan beberapa pengujian dilakukan pada film animasi pembelajaran Masa Nifas dan Menyusui dengan melakukan uji validitas ahli yang mendapatkan hasil validitas ahli isi dan ahli media denga rata-rata sebesar 1,00. Uji respon perorangan mendapatkan hasil persentase sebesar 90% pada kualifikasi Sangat Baik, uji respon kelompok kecil mendapatkan hasil persentase sebesar 83% pada kualifikasi Baik, dan respon uji lapangan mendapatkan hasil persentase 87% pada kualifikasi Baik. Dry eye syndrome (DES) is a chronic condition of the eye with insufficient production of tears leading to inadequate lubrication of eyes. Symptoms of DES are associated with discomfort and redness of the eye, blurred vision, and tear film instability which leads to the damaged ocular surface. Inflammation and oxidative stress play a significant role in the pathogenesis of the disease. In this study, the protective effect of different doses (100 or 200 mg/kg) of a novel multi-component oral formulation of lutein/zeaxanthin, curcumin, and vitamin D3 (LCD) was evaluated using a rat model with benzalkonium chloride (BAC)-induced dry eye syndrome. The formulation was administered orally to rats for 4 weeks. We observed a significant improvement in tear volume, tear breakup time, tear film integrity, and reduction in overall inflammation in rats fed with the LCD at dose 200 mg/kg performing better than 100 mg/kg. Furthermore, the formulation helped in lowering oxidative stress by increasing antioxidant levels and restored protective tear protein levels including MUC1, MUC4, and MUC5AC with 200 mg of LCD having the most significant effect. The results strongly suggest that the combination of lutein/zeaxanthin, curcumin, and vitamin-D3 is effective in alleviating the symptoms of dry eye condition with a multi-modal mechanism of action.

Hydroxyapatite Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 (HAp) is an important bioactive material for bone tissue reconstruction, due to its highly thermodynamic stability at a physiological pH without bio-resorption. In the present study, the Ag:HAp and the corresponding Ag:HAp + D3 thin films (~200 nm) coating were obtained by vacuum deposition method on Ti substrate. The obtained samples were exposed to different UV irradiation times, in order to investigate the UV light action upon thin films, before considering this method for the thin film’s decontamination. The effects of UV irradiation upon Ag:Hap + D3 are presented for the first time in the literature, marking a turning point for understanding the effect of UV light on composite biomaterial thin films. The UV irradiation induced an increase in the initial stages of surface roughness of Ag:HAp thin film, correlated with the modifications of XPS and FTIR signals. The characteristics of thin films measured by AFM (RMS) analysis corroborated with XPS and FTIR investigation highlighted a process of recovery of the thin film’s properties (e.g., RMS), suggesting a possible adaptation to UV irradiation. This process has been a stage to a more complicated UVA rapid degradation process. The antifungal assays demonstrated that all the investigated samples exhibited antifungal properties. Moreover, the cytotoxicity assays revealed that the HeLa cells morphology did not show any alterations after 24 h of incubation with the Ag:HAp and Ag:HAp + D3 thin films.

This study focuses on the effect of epoxy emulsion, a binder for producing water-borne intumescent fire protective coating for steel structures. The influence of binder on the fire resistive performance, char formation, thermal stability and bonding strength of the coatings were investigated in detail by using Bunsen burner test, thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Instron microtester. It was found that the fire protection performance and foam structure of coating sample D2 was significantly improved by adding 10wt% of epoxy resin which produced the greatest thickness of char layer. In addition, TGA results showed that the residue weight of coating D2 was higher than coating sample D3 with 15wt% of epoxy. This indicated that sample D2 has better anti-oxidation and thermal stability. The results of Instron microtester indicated that the bonding strength of the coatings was improved with the increase of epoxy content.

Orodispersible films (ODFs) are solid pharmaceutical forms for rapid local or systemic release of active ingredients. They are formed by a water-soluble polymer film that hydrates rapidly, adhering and dissolving immediately when placed on the tongue or in the oral cavity. In this paper, we describe the compatibility and disintegration times of compounded ODFs using OrPhylloTM, a new ready-to-use-vehicle, and APIs from different pharmacological classes, such as 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) 50 mg, bromopride 5 mg, coenzyme Q10 20 mg, melatonin 3 mg, resveratrol 5 mg, tadalafil 10 mg, vitamin B12 1 mg, or vitamin D3 2000 UI. ODFs were compounded and, subsequently, the samples were assayed using HPLC at initial (t = 0), 7 days (t = 7), 14 days (t = 14), 30 days (t = 30), 60 days (t = 60), 90 days (t = 90), 120 days (t = 120), 150 days (t = 150), and 180 days (t = 180) after compounding. Given the percentage of recovery of the APIs within the films, the beyond-use date of the final products (API + vehicle) was at least 90 days for vitamin D3, 150 days for bromopride and 5-HTP, and 180 days for coenzyme Q10, tadalafil, vitamin B12, resveratrol, and melatonin, when stored at room temperature. The average disintegration time was 46.22 s. This suggests that the OrPhylloTM vehicle is suitable for compounding ODFs with APIs from different pharmacological classes, with good compatibility and fast disintegration.

The combustible material of fire in fog discharge pipe is the cooking oil tar. Cooking oil tar was conducted on a specially designed laboratory-scale thermobalance (Macro-TG) with sample loading of 15g under dynamic air atmosphere. The effects of heating rate (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25°C/min) was examined. A simple kinetic description, named in this work as ‘First Order Reaction and Three-dimensional Diffusion Separate-stage Model (O1+D3)’ model, was developed based on the experimental results and integral analysis method. Experimental results shows that large amount of sample has a pyrolysis reaction retardancy. The distributed activation energy model was used to study the pyrolysis kinetics. Science the reaction occurred in small activation energy told us that if the cooking oil tar put on fire it will be spread rapidly and hard to put out.

Abstract A high-sensitivity three-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is proposed in this paper. The gold film is selected as the plasmonic metal and coated on the outside surface of the PCF to excite the SPR phenomenon. There are three different diameter air holes of d1, d2, and d3 distributed on the cross-section of the sensor. Among them, sensor performance can be affected by changing the diameter of the central hole and the thickness of the gold film. The sensor shows the maximum confinement loss value and spectral sensitivity of 50 dB cm−1 and 30600 nm RIU−1, respectively, at analyte RI (na = 1.41), and the corresponding maximum resolution is 3.27 × 10–6. The above simulation result shows that the sensor has excellent performance, thus laying the foundation for future research.

PENGUKURAN KUALITAS BERKAS CITRA RADIOGRAFI NEUTRON PASCA PENAMBAHAN SISTEM TOMOGRAFI DI RN1 BATAN SERPONG. Pengukuran kuatitas berkas citra radiografi neutron pasca penambahan sistem tomografi di RN1 BATAN Serpong, telah dilakukan. Pengukuran bertujuan untuk menentukan kualitas berkas neutron berdasarkan standar ASTM E-545-05. Pengukuran dilakukan dengan metode langsung (film radiografi) menggunakan cuplikan standar Sensitivity Indicator (SI) dan Beam Purity Indicator (BPI), serta film AGFA D3. Kualitas berkas neutron yang keluar dari tabung berkas ditentukan oleh karakteristik kolimator yang digunakan. Pada saat film radiografi neutron dioperasikan bersamaan dengan sistem tomografi, kualitas berkas yang didapat secara kuantitatif dari hasil pengukuran densitas citra dari cuplikan BPI menggunakan densitometer, mendapat jumlah neutron termal: 40,20 %; neutron terhambur: 0,70 %; gamma: 1,50 %; produksi pasangan: 3,30 %; jumlah garis dan yang terlihat masing-masing: 6 dan 4. Sedangkan apabila film radiografi neutron saja yang dioperasikan, mendapatkan jumlah neutron termal: 62,20 %; neutron terhambur: 0,50 %; gamma: 1,80 %; produksi pasangan: 2,30 %; jumlah garis dan yang terlihat masing-masing: 7 dan 4. Kualitas citra radiografi neutron pada saat film radiografi dioperasikan bersamaan dengan sistem tomografi, tidak baik (buram). Kualitas citra radiografi neutron apabila film radiografi neutron saja yang dioperasikan menjadi lebih baik (terang dan kontras), berdasarkan standar ASTM E-545-05 diklasifikasikan ke dalam kategori II. Dapat disimputkan bahwa untuk mendapatkan kualitas citra radiografi neutron yang lebih baik, maka film radiografi tidak dioperasikan bersamaan dengan sistem tomografi.

Blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction is prevalent in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders. Restoring normal BBB function through RNA therapy is a potential avenue for addressing cerebrovascular changes in these disorders that may lead to cognitive decline. Although lipid nanoparticles have been traditionally used as drug carriers for RNA, bicelles have been emerging as a better alternative because of their higher cellular uptake and superior transfection capabilities. Cationic bicelles composed of DPPC/DC7PC/DOTAP at molar ratios of 63.8/25.0/11.2 were evaluated for the delivery of RNA in polarized hCMEC/D3 monolayers, a widely used BBB cell culture model. RNA-bicelle complexes were formed at five N/P ratios (1:1 to 5:1) by a thin-film hydration method. The RNA-bicelle complexes at N/P ratios of 3:1 and 4:1 exhibited optimal particle characteristics for cellular delivery. The cellular uptake of cationic bicelles laced with 1 mol% DiI-C18 was confirmed by flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. The ability of cationic bicelles (N/P ratio 4:1) to transfect polarized hCMEC/D3 with FITC-labeled control siRNA was tested vis-a-vis commercially available Lipofectamine RNAiMAX. These studies demonstrated the higher transfection efficiency and greater potential of cationic bicelles for RNA delivery to the BBB endothelium.

The heterogeneous structure of TFR's results in high resistivities and high current noise. Accepting models of conduction in TFR's, according to which the resistivity is determined by a resistance independent of bulk-resistivity of a metallic-like component, it will be shown, that R□andCeff*(describing current noise behaviour) increase with d and d3, respectively, when d is the grain size. On the other hand, both quantities depend on the volume fraction of the metallic component in the same manner. This leads to the conclusion, that a general dependence in the formCeff*= f(R□) cannot exist.

Introduction De novo generation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) for therapeutic use has been a long-standing goal of regenerative medicine. During development, the first definitive hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) derive from a small number of specialized vascular endothelial cells (EC), named hemogenic endothelial cells (HECs), located in the Aorta-Gonado-Mesonephrose (AGM). The process of HEC conversion to HSPCs is known as endothelial-to-hematopoietic transition (EHT). During EHT, endothelial features are lost while switching on hematopoietic transcriptional programs leading to drastic functional and morphological changes that generate free-floating, round hematopoietic cells from large, flat, anchorage-dependent ECs. Key steps regulating EHT are difficult to elucidate using in vivo models because the hemogenic capacity of HECs occurs within a 2-day developmental window. Only a tiny number of cells undergo EHT in vivo. New model systems that overcome current in vivo obstacles are required so the details of EHT and the mechanisms that lead to the generation of HSPCs can be better understood. We previously reported that fully-committed ECs can be converted to functional HSPCs by ectopic expression of transcription factors Spi1, FOSB, GFI1, and Runx1 (SFGR) and an appropriate vascular niche (Sandler et al. Nature, 2014; Lis et al. Nature, 2017). But conversion using this method required several weeks and was associated with variable and low efficiency. Here, we show that our new in vitro EHT platform (ivEHT), very closely recapitulates the process of EHT in vivo and can be used to uncover heretofore unrecognized steps necessary for EC conversion to HSPCs. Methods All steps in the in vitro conversion of ECs to HSPCs were systematically analyzed and optimized. The refined model utilized new media constituents and polycistronic constructs to ensure ectopic expression of transcription factors Spi1, FOSB, GFI1 and Runx1 (SFGR)in human umbilical vein-ECs (HUVECs) in appropriate ratios and sequence. Results The new ivEHT platform yields efficient EC conversion to hematopoietic like CD45+ cells (≥80%) and high temporal reproducibility of conversion that is largely complete within 96 hrs. The ivEHT sequence of conversion closely follows the timing and sequence of EHT in vivo. Initially, transduced HUVECs are large, flat cells with CDH5-marked intercellular junctions and firm adhesion to basement membrane. Within the first 24hrs of induction, SFGR-HUVECs downregulate ECs markers CD31, KDR, CDH5 and activate the endogenous RUNX1 locus detected by the expression of nuclear GFP (GFPn) under control of the human RUNX1+24 enhancer (detected using a lentiviral reporter vector). Day 2 (D2) is characterized by complete clearance of endothelial-specific Weibel-Palade Bodies (WPBs, marked by Von Willebrand Factor, VWF) and excess mitochondria. This window also initiates morphologic changes in RUNX1-GFPn marked cells with loss of intercellular junctions and attachment to basement membrane and initial expression of hematopoietic markers such as CD45. Days 3-4 are marked by loss of cell volume and cytoplasm, cellular rounding and detachment from matrix, and increased expression of CD45 and other hematopoietic markers like cKIT, MPL, CD43. These stages of conversion are only identified in RUNX1-GFPn marked cells and by the end of D5, ~80% of cells have fully converted to CD45+ cells. Conversion is not accompanied by cell proliferation, but after D5 cell numbers expand rapidly. The ivEHT platform is scalable and highly reproducible making it amenable to higher-throughput testing in 96-well format using flow cytometry readouts. Using the ivEHT platform, we have captured and validated in AGM explants previously unobserved aspects of early EHT that is complete between D2-D3. Discussion This work promises a reproducible, faithful, and scalable platform which generates hematopoietic like cells while successfully recapitulating early steps of the EHT in the AGM. Importantly, this platform is readily accessible and is easily customized for discovery of EHT molecular details currently hidden to science, allowing significant advances in the understanding of how HSPCs emergence in vivo.

The purpose of this work was to first investigate the impact of cold plasma (CP) treatment, performed at various times (0–30 min), on the characteristics of basil seed gum (BSG), as well as the fabrication of functional edible films with the modified BSG. FT-IR spectra of CP-treated BSG revealed change at 1596 and 1718 cm−1, indicating the formation of carbonyl groups. Both untreated and CP-modified BSG dispersions showed shear-thinning behavior with a higher apparent viscosity for the CP-modified dispersions at studied temperatures. Untreated BSG dispersion and the one treated by CP for 10 min revealed time-independent behavior, while those treated for 20 and 30 min showed a rheopectic behavior. CP-modified BSG dispersion had higher G′, G″, and complex viscosity than untreated BSG. Higher contact angle for the CP-modified BSG suggested enhanced hydrophobic nature, while the surface tension was lower compared to the untreated BSG. SEM micrographs revealed an increase in the surface roughness of treated samples. Moreover, modified BSG was successfully used for the preparation of edible film incorporating tannic acid and vitamin D3-loaded nanophytosomes with high stability during storage compared to the free form addition. The stability of encapsulated forms of vitamin D3 and tannic acid was 39.77% and 38.91%, more than that of free forms, respectively. In conclusion, CP is an appropriate technique for modifying the properties of BSG and fabrication of functional edible films.

The aim of the present study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy/efficacy of digital imaging fiber-optic transillumination (DIFOTI) with film and digital radiography, in detection of approximal caries lesions. One hundred and twelve approximal surfaces were scored for caries, using DIFOTI images film and digital radiographs. All three sets of images were examined twice by 8 observers, with a minimal interval of one week between examinations. Validation of histological sections served as a reference standard. Reproducibility, based on intra- and interobserver agreement, was similar for all three methods. At diagnostic threshold D1 (enamel and dentin caries), DIFOTI showed significantly higher sensitivity, but differences in specificity between methods were nonsignificant. Diagnostic accuracy in the form of area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was significantly higher for DIFOTI. At diagnostic threshold D3 (dentin caries), the differences in sensitivity and AUC among methods were nonsignificant, but DIFOTI showed significantly lower specificity. Compared with the radiographs, DIFOTI showed closer agreement, expressed as weighted kappa values, with the reference standard. The results show that underin vitroconditions, the diagnostic accuracy of DIFOTI in detecting early approximal enamel lesions is greater than that of film and digital radiography, while the potential for detecting lesions in dentin is similar for all three methods.

The paper presents data on the use of the alkaline aluminosilicate binder-based adhesive of the system Na2O•Al2O3•(4-6)SiO2•(17-20)H2O for gluing and fire protection of structural timber elements. The results of the study of thermoresistant phases in the reaction products of the alkaline aluminosilicates are reported and discussed. The results allowed to show that at SiO2/Al2O3 between 5 and 6 the zeolite-like phases of heulandite types, which, under action of temperatures, are able to form a porous aluminosilicate artificial stone with low thermal conductivity (λ=0.09 Wt/m•К, DSTU B V.2.7-105-2000 (GOST 7076-99)) are formed in the reaction products. The use of the developed aluminosilicate adhesives allow for to classify the structural timber elements as hardly burnable and hardly flammable materials (GOST 12.1.044-1989, EN 13823 + A1: 2014-12, ASTM E119-07). They have the following characteristics: water resistance D3 (EN 204:2001), resistance in splitting up 7.8 MPa (GOST 16483.5-1973), adhesion in normal pull-off test up to 2.6 MPa (GOST 32299-2013 (ISO 4624:2002)).

Mass-spectrometric thermal decomposition experiments with submicron films of neat polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), and PMMA-fullerene composite (PMMA-C60) after UV irradiation are discussed. The experiment registers thermal desorption mass spectra (TDMS), that is the monomer desorption rate versus time upon gradual heating the PMMA films in a given heating regime. The spectra provide information on the amount of the monomer desorbed at different decomposition stages upon heating the given amount of film material as well as on the spectral shape changes. It is shown that both amount of monomer and the TDMS spectral shape are sensitive to the presence of fullerene and UV irradiation. The experimental results are discussed in terms of quantum chemical models of binding. The DFT/B3LYP-D3/def2/J RIJCOSX level of theory was used. The MMA-C60 structures which can yield different amounts of monomer have been compared.

Abstract Objectives Dry eye is common condition of eye with insufficient production of tears leading to inadequate lubrication of eyes. It is chronic in nature & may be associated with discomfort & eye redness, blurred vision & tear film instability leading to potentially damaged ocular surfaces. Inflammation & oxidative stress play significant role in pathogenesis of disease by causing ocular surface disruption. Traditional Rx for dry eyes such as artificial tears, punctual plugs, prescription eye drops, etc. doesn't adequately address underlying causes of dry eyes. Further many of treatments are in form of eye drops that require regular administration to eyes, which is inconvenient & contains preservatives that further irritate eyes. We evaluated integrated active formulation administered orally to alleviate symptoms of dry eyes in rat model. Methods We used proprietary formulation technology to blend multiple ingredients into an integrated oil suspension (OS) that can be conveniently used in an oral dosage form. Ingredients included bioavailable form of Curcumin, Lutein/Zeaxanthin (L/Z) and Vit D3 formulated as an integrated product. Dry eye condition was created by administration of BAK (benzalkonium chloride) to eyes of female Wistar rat twice daily for 14 days, followed by initiation of supplementation by administering integrated dry eye formulation by oral gavage for 4 weeks at dose of 100 & 200 mg/kg b.w. to evaluate effect of this novel formulation. 7 rats were included in each group. Results There was significant improvement in tear volume, tear breakup time, tear film integrity & reduced overall inflammation, histopathological examination with supplementation. Our formulation helped in lowering oxidative stress as evidenced by significant reduced serum & corneal MDA, increased corneal SOD & corneal GPx. Levels of inflammatory cytokines such as NF-κB, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 & IL-8 were significantly reduced & protective proteins such as MUC1, MUC4, MUC5AC and MMP-9 were restored by supplementation with integrated dry eye formulation which were otherwise lowered in dry eye condition. Conclusions Our results strongly suggest that our novel integrated active formulation of Curcumin, L/Z, Vit D3 is effective in alleviating symptoms of dry eye condition with multi-modal mechanism of action in dose dependent manner. Two-dimensional (2D) SnO is a p-type semiconductor that has received research and industrial attention for device-grade applications due to its bipolar conductivity and transparent semiconductor nature. The first-principles investigations based on the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) level of theory often failed to accurately model its structure due to interlayer Van der Waals interactions. This study is carried out to calculate structural and electronic properties of bulk and layered structures of SnO using dispersion correction scheme DFT+D3 with GGA-PBE to deal with the interactions which revealed good agreement of the results with reported data. The material in three-dimensional bulk happened to be an indirect gap semiconductor with a band gap of 0.6 eV which is increased to 2.85 eV for a two-dimensional monolayer structure. The detailed analysis of the properties demonstrated that the SnO monolayer is a promising candidate for future optoelectronics and spintronics devices, especially thin film transistors.

Abstrak Prodi D3 Animasi ISI Yogyakarta (Prodi Animasi) sebagai lembaga pendidikan pencetak pekerja seni dalam bidang animasi perlu melakukan proses diseminasi yang berkesinambungan sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan animo masyarakat. Terkait tujuan tersebut, Prodi Animasi memerlukan sebuah media diseminasi komunikasi yang relevan dengan perkembangan zaman, sesuai dengan latar belakang target audiens, serta mampu merepresentasikan karakter Prodi Animasi itu sendiri. Berdasarkan kriteria tersebut, maka film iklan animasi berjudul “Metamorfodream” dipilih sebagai sebuah model media diseminasi. Film iklan ini dirancang dengan memadukan unsur storytelling dan periklanan sehingga menghasilkan iklan dengan pola komunikasi soft selling. Landasan teori yang digunakan adalah teori film animasi oleh Jean Ann Wright dan konsep mengenai identitas brand oleh Derrick Chong serta teori penceritaan Struktur Tiga Babak oleh Weels Root. Metode penciptaan yang dipakai adalah proses penciptaan kreatif oleh Graham Wallas. Tujuan penelitian ini difokuskan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan pola komunikasi soft selling melalui storytelling dalam film iklan Metamorfodream, di mana unsur storytelling akan digunakan dalam membangun bahasa komunikasi sehingga iklan yang dihasilkan akan bersifat soft selling sehingga dapat dinikmati sebagai sebuah karya film. Kata Kunci: diseminasi, film iklan animasi, storytelling, soft selling AbstractAs an educational institution that produces art workers, the Animation Program in the Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta needs to carry out a continuous dissemination process to increase public interest. Related to this goal, the Animation Program requires a communicative dissemination medium that is relevant to the times and suitable to the audience's background. It should be able to represent the character of the Animation Study Program itself. Based on these criteria, the animated advertising film entitled “Metamorphodream” was chosen as a media dissemination model. This advertising film is designed by combining storytelling and advertising elements, so as to produce advertisements with soft-selling communication type. The theoretical basis used is the theory of animated films by Jean Ann Wright, the concept of brand identity by Derrick Chong, and the theory of storytelling in Three Acts Structure by Weels Root. The method of creation used is the creative creation process by Graham Wallas. This research aims to know how soft- selling communication patterns can be applied through storytelling in the Metamorphodream advertising film. Storytelling elements will be used in building a communication language so that the resulting advertisements will be soft selling so that they can be enjoyed as a film. Strawberries show a short post-harvest conservation period. To improve it, the effect of different post-harvest storage temperatures, conservation methods and three different storage periods were tested on ‘San Andreas’ strawberry, right after harvest. The experiment consisted of a three factorial 2 x 5 x 3 (temperatures x methods x storage periods), arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD). Four replications were used for each treatment, each with five sampling units. The treatments tested were: storage temperatures - 1°C and 18°C (T1 and T2); conservation methods - sodium hypochlorite 0.5% (C1), potato starch film 6% + sodium hypochlorite 0.5% (C2), cassava starch film 6% + sodium hypochlorite 0.5% (C3), UV-C radiation (C4), and control (no treatment) (C5); Storage period - 3, 6, and 9 days (D1, D2, D3, respectively). The parameters assessed were flesh firmness, color (hue angle, chroma, and luminosity), soluble solids (SST) and mass loss. Fruit kept at a temperature of 1°C showed better traits than those stored at 18°C, regardless of the method and storage period. Among the conservation methods tested, only UV-C and sodium hypochlorite improved some attributes (firmness and SST) when associated with refrigeration at 1°C. The use of potato and cassava starch is not as expected since they do not improve conservation and the total soluble solids contents.

Film mulching in combination with high plant density (PD) is a common agronomic technique in rainfed maize (Zea mays L.) production. However, the effects of combining colored plastic film mulching and PD on dry matter accumulation (DMA) dynamics and yield of spring maize have not been thoroughly elucidated to date. Thus, a 2-year field experiment was conducted with three mulching treatments (no mulching (M0), transparent plastic film mulching (M1), and black plastic film mulching (M2)) and five plant densities (60,000 (D1), 67,500 (D2), 75,000 (D3), 82,500 (D4), and 90,000 plants ha−1 (D5)). A logistic equation was used to simulate the DMA process of spring maize by taking the effective accumulated air temperature compensated by effective accumulated soil temperature as the independent variable. The results showed that compared with M0 treatment, the growth period of M1 and M2 treatments was preceded by 10 and 4 days in 2016, and 10 and 7 days in 2017, respectively. The corrected logistic equation performed well in the characterization of maize DMA process with its characteristic parameter (final DMA, a; maximum growth rate of DMA, GRmax; effective accumulated temperature under maximum growth rate of DMA, xinf; effective accumulated temperature when maize stops growing, xmax; effective accumulated temperature when maize enters the fast-growing period, x1). Plastic film color mainly affected DMA by influencing xinf. PD mainly affected DMA by affecting GRmax and x1. During the first slow growing period, the DMA of M1 treatment was the largest among the three mulching treatments, however, during the fast growing period, the DMA of M2 treatment accelerated and exceeded that of M1 treatment, resulting in the largest final DMA(a) and yield. When the PD was increased from D1 to D4, the maximum growth rate (GRmax) continued to increase, and the effective accumulated temperature when maize enters the fast growing period (x1) continued to decrease, which substantially increased the final DMA(a) and yield. The application of M2D4 treatment can harmonize the relevant factors to improve the DMA and yield of spring maize in rainfed regions of Northeast China.

Summary Present study describes the determination of nicotine in various plant samples with a low content of this compound. Nicotine is found naturally in plants from the Solanaceae family. The plants from Nicotiana genus contain large levels of nicotine. However, only low levels are present in plants from Solanum genus including potato, tomato, eggplant, and from Capsicum genus, which are used as food. Because the levels of nicotine in these materials are in the range of parts per billion, the measurements are difficult and the results are very different from study to study. The present study evaluated the level of nicotine in a number of plants (fruits, roots, leaves, tubers) from Solanaceae family (not including Nicotiana genus) and from several other vegetables commonly used as food. The analysis consisted of the treatment of plant material with an aqueous solution 5% NaOH at 70°C for 30 min, followed by extraction with TBME containing d3-nicotine as an internal standard. The TBME organic layer was analyzed on a 7890B/7000C GC-MS/MS system with a 30 m × 0.25 mm, 0.25 μm film CAM column. The MS/MS system worked in MRM positive ionization mode monitoring the transition 162 - 84 for nicotine and 165 - 87 for d3-nicotine. Particular attention was given to the preservation of the intact levels of nicotine in the plant material. The plant material was analyzed as is, without drying and with minimal exposure to contaminations. Separately, the moisture of the plant material was measured in order to report the nicotine level on a dry-basis. Levels of nicotine around 180 ng/g dry material were obtained for tomatoes and eggplant (fruit) and lower levels were obtained for green pepper and potato. Similar levels to that in the tomato fruit were detected in tomato leaves. Materials from other plant families also showed traces of nicotine. [Beitr. Tabakforsch. Int. 27 (2016) 54-59]

- 5-amino-2(p-aminophenyl) benzoxazole (AAPB) and its derived polyimide prepared with pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) were synthesized successfully. Their structures were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, Element analysis, 13C NMR, Solid-state 13CNMR, DSC, TG and XRD. The polyimide was synthesized via a conventional two-stage method. The intermediate poly (amic acid) had inherent viscosity of 1.06dL/g and could be thermally converted into light yellow polyimide film. The polyimide showed excellent solvent resistance and good thermal stability. The glass transition temperature (Tg) was found to be 314°C, the decomposition started at a temperature above 500°C in air and above 550°C in argon atmosphere. The thermal degradation of the polyimide was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in order to determine the actual reaction mechanisms of the decomposition process. The apparent activation energy (Ea) was obtained following Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method. The activation energies of different mechanism models and pre-exponential factor (A) were determined by Coats-Redfern method. Compared with the value obtained from the Ozawa method, the actual reaction mechanism obeyed three-dimensional diffusion model, Jander equation (D3) with integral form g(α)=[1-(1-α)1/3]2.

Influence of the bias voltage Ub and the deposition rate  on the structure, grain size D, and coercivity Hc of NiFe films with the thickness d from 30 to 980 nm, grown onto Si / SiO2 substrates by DC magnetron sputtering, was studied. In the case Ub = 0, the decrease of  from ≈ nm/min to ≈ 7 nm/min is accompanied by the increase of the critical film thickness dcr from dcr ≈ 220 nm to dcr ≈ 270 nm. In this case, Hc in the films with d < dcr is characterized by the dependence Hc ~ D6 and varies from ~ 1 to ~ 20 Oe. In the case of Ub = -100 V, the effect of the deposition rate on the coercivity is much more noticeable. At ν = 7 and 14 nm / min, the films demonstrate soft magnetic properties (Нс ≈ 0.15 - 1.4 Oe) and the absence of dcr for the entire range of studied thicknesses. The films obtained at ν = 21 and 27 nm / min turn into the “supercritical” state at d ≥ dcr ≈ 520 nm, and, in the region d < dcr, they are characterized by the dependence Hc ~ D3 and by the increase of coercivity from ~ 0.35 to ~ 10 Oe.

Alih media rekam medis merupakan proses pemindahan rekam medis inaktif berbasis kertas ke dalam bentuk file (micro film, file dalam hard disk, file dalam compact disc) dengan tujuan agar lebih efisien. Metode ABK-Kes adalah suatu metode perhitungan kebutuhan SDMK berdasarkan pada beban kerja. Penelitian ini mengenai Tinjauan Kebutuhan Tenaga Alih Media Rekam Medis di RSIJ Cempaka Putih Jakarta menggunakan metode ABK-Kes. Tujuan penelitian menghitung kebutuhan tenaga alih media rekam medis. Penelitian menggunakan metode ABK-Kes. Dengan sampel yang berjumlah 100 berkas rekam medis yang telah dihitung menggunakan rumus slovin. Hasil penelitian Standar Prosedur Operasional (SPO) Alih Media masih mengacu kepada SPO Retensi, karena SPO pada bagian Alih Media belum tersedia. Jam kerja petugas dari pukul 07.30-16.30 WIB atau setara dengan 40 jam/minggu. Sementara hasil perhitungan standar beban kerja petugas yaitu 662.840. Faktor Tugas Penunjang sebesar 2,34% dan Standar Tugas Penunjang sebesar 1,02. Hasil kesimpulan Rekapitulasi SDMK Alih Media Rekam Medis yang dibutuhkan berjumlah 6 orang sedangkan saat ini petugas hanya 1 orang. Saran sebaiknya ada penambahan SDM alih media sebanyak 5 orang dengan kriteria minimal lulusan D3 Perekam Medis dan Informasi kesehatan sesuai kompetensinya.

Abstract Objectives Dry eye is a chronic condition associated with insufficient tear production and faster tear evaporation and commonly accompanied by inflammation that may lead to ocular surface damage. We have developed a multi-ingredient formulation containing lutein, zeaxanthin, curcumin, and vitamin D3 to address conditions associated with dry eye. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of our formulation in subjects with mild to moderate dry eye symptoms. Methods This was a randomized, double-blind, parallel, placebo-controlled study. Sixty subjects with mild to moderate DES were randomly assigned in a 1 : 1 ratio to the test or placebo groups. Subjects consumed one capsule of the test or placebo product every morning through the study duration of 56 days. The test product comprised 20 mg lutein, 4 mg zeaxanthin, 200 mg curcuminoids, and 600 IU vitamin D3 in form of a capsule. The placebo product contained soybean oil. Changes in tear volume by Schirmer's test and severity of dry eye discomfort measured by Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) score, changes in Standard Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness (SPEED) questionnaire, tear film break up time (TBUT), corneal & conjunctival staining, tear osmolarity, Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMP)-9 levels in tear fluid, and artificial tear usage were evaluated. Results Thirty subjects in Test and 29 in Placebo group completed study. We observed statistically significant (P &lt; 0.05) improvements in tear volume, TBUT, and a reduction in dry eye discomfort as measured by OSDI and SPEED scores from baseline to day 56 in the Test group. Mean corneal & conjunctival staining scores, tear osmolarity and tear MMP-9 levels also showed significant improvements (P &lt; 0.05) when compared to Placebo on day 56. Artificial tear usage & frequency of usage were significantly reduced (P &lt; 0.05) in test group as compared to Placebo. Products were well tolerated without any adverse events. Conclusions Our multi-ingredient formulation demonstrated significant improvement in dry eye conditions including eye hydration and moisture, tear stability and quality, and overall improvements in eye comfort. Uji kompetensi merupakan salah satu tekanan akademik yang harus dilewati mahasiswa semester akhir. Proses yang dialami mahasiswa dalam menghadapi uji kompetensi membuat mahasiswa rentan untuk mengalami stress. Mekanisme koping yang digunakan mahasiswa sangat menentukan keberhasilan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi uji kompetensi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui gambaran stress, tanda dan gejala stress, dan mekanisme koping dalam menghadapi uji kompetensi pada mahasiswa DIII Keperawatan Fakultas Kesehatan Universitas Samawa. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratif. Sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester VI Program Studi DIII Keperawatan Fakultas Kesehatan Universitas Samawa. Teknik sampling secara purposive sampling dengan kriteria mahasiswa semester VI berjumlah 15 orang, dan partisipan yang mengalami stress dalam menghadapi uji kompetensi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model interaktif. Hasil menunjukkan gambaran stres karena factor internal yaitu motivasi rendah. Tanda dan gejala stress mahasiswa ditunjukkan seperti sulit makan, sulit tidur, dan konstipasi. Gangguan mental adanya rasa takut, cemas, gelisah, depresi, pusing, dan tidak semangat belajar. Sumber stress pada mahasiswa karena susah dalam mengatur waktu. Koping mahasiswa dalam menghadapi stress antara lain dengan cara share atau berdiskusi dengan teman atau keluarga, menghibur diri dilakukan dengan; shoping, jalan-jalan, main game, dan nonton film, mencari referensi belajar.selain itu juga berdoa, sholat dan sabar. The process experienced by students in facing competency tests makes students vulnerable to experiencing stress. The coping mechanism used by students will determine the success of students in facing the competency test. The purpose of the study was to determine the description of stress, signs and symptoms of stress, and coping mechanisms in the face of competency tests on Diploma Nursing students, Faculty of Health, Samawa University. The method used qualitative with a narrative approach. The research sample was the sixth semester students of the Diploma Nursing Study Program, Faculty of Health, Samawa University. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with the criteria of 15 semester VI students, and participants who experienced stress in facing the competency test. The data analysis technique used an interactive model. The results show a picture of stress due to internal factors, namely low motivation. Signs and symptoms of student stress are shown such as difficulty eating, difficulty sleeping, and constipation. Mental disorders are such as fear, anxiety, depression, dizziness, and lack of enthusiasm for learning. The stress cause is difficult to manage time. Student coping in dealing with stress, among others, by sharing or discussing with friends or family, entertaining themselves is done by; shopping, sightseeing, playing games, and watching movies, looking for learning references. 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [1,25(OH)2D3] binding sites were studied along the nephron of rats. The animals were pretreated with the diphosphonate EHDP at doses that inhibit the endogenous production of 1,25(OH)2D3. A dry film autoradiographic technique was applied to tubular segments isolated by microdissection from kidneys incubated in vitro with various concentrations (0.2-12 nM) of [3H]1,25(OH)2D3 in the presence or absence of an excess unlabeled hormone (X200) in order to determine specific binding. Total, nonspecific, and specific labeling were quantified by silver grain counting over cytoplasmic and nuclear areas. Specific nuclear labeling appeared in the cortical ascending limb and papillary collecting tubule at 1 nM. In the distal tubule and, to a lesser extent, in the cortical collecting tubule a specific nuclear labeling was also present, but only at higher concentrations. No specific nuclear labeling was detected in the proximal tubule. All along the nephron, a significant and nonspecific labeling was observed in the cytoplasm, either alone or superimposed over the specific nuclear labeling. In conclusion 1,25(OH)2D3 specific binding sites appear to be localized mainly in the cortical ascending limb of the loop of Henle, in the distal and cortical collecting duct, and in the papillary collecting duct.

El CDT-ASTIN formuló este proyecto, incorporando una tecnología de punta y la única planta piloto del país para su transferencia al sector productivo y su aplicación en la Formación Profesional que imparte el SENA. Con el objetivo de incrementar la eficiencia y vida útil de las herramientas utilizadas en los diferentes procesos de manufactura de las empresas participantes del proyecto, se fabricaron, mediante un estudio experimental, recubrimientos de nitruro de titanio (TiN) sobre probetas de acero tipo herramienta. Para ello se seleccionaron aceros de las casas fabricantes más relevantes en el medio industrial colombiano, específicamente el acero Thyrodur T-2510 de Ia firma Thyssen, el acero K-460 de Bohler y el acero RUS 3 de la firma Rochling. Posteriormente se efectuaron recubrimientos del mismo material sobre los aceros AISI D3. H13. P20, 420 y M2. Las probetas recubiertas fueron sometidas a diferentes ensayos de caracterización, donde se determinaron propiedades importantes como la dureza, la adherencia, la composición, la morfología y el espesor. Para tal fin se utilizaron técnicas de caracterización tales como la prueba Calote, la prueba de Rayado, el método de Rockwell C, la Perfilometría, la Difracción de Rayos X, la Microscopia Electrónica de Barrido y la Microscópica de Fuerza Atómica. Estas pruebas se realizaron en alianza y colaboración con los laboratorios de Física del Plasma de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sede Manizales, el Laboratorio de Recubrimientos Duros del Departamento de Física de la Universidad del Valle y el Laboratorio de Metalografía del CDT-ASTIN. Una vez optimizados los parámetros de deposición del TiN se recubrieron las herramientas aportados por las empresas (207 piezas) y se sometieron a las respectivas pruebas de campo, lográndose un incremento de su vida útil que osciló entre 50 y un 600% con una reducción de los costos de producción de más del 40%.

The worldwide machine tool market is anticipated to reach a value of USD 68.9 billion by 2021, from USD 65.6 billion in 2020. This projection is based on the progressive production drop within the car industry, which is the largest customer of machine devices, and supply chain disruption. The machine tool industry in Taiwan faces a severe challenge and has been unobtrusively experiencing an inner reshuffling and innovative transformation. The developing strategic alliances reflect a basic endeavor by numerous firms to improve their specialized capabilities. This study applied the DEMATEL, a suitable method for gathering group knowledge to form a structural model and visualize the casual relationship between subsystems through a casual diagram, revealing that the causal relationships between measurement criteria and the proposed model can provide a viable assessment of the alliance with satisfactory criteria that fit the decision-makers requirements, especially when the assessment criteria are various and interrelated. Financial resources were the strongest factor within the strategic behavior dimension (D1), whereas the minimize manufacturing cost was the foremost basic determinant in the cost perspective (D2). The specialists also demonstrated that obtaining dominant technology was a determinative component within organizational learning (D3). This paper offers proposals for government authorities to plan a machine tools industry strategy for Taiwan and for companies to formulate business directions for long-run advancement.

Multiwavelength Raman spectroscopy (325, 514, 633 nm) was used to analyze three different kinds of samples containing sp2 and sp3 carbons: chemical vapor deposited diamond films of varying microstructure, a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposited hydrogenated amorphous carbon film heated at 500 °C and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite exposed to a radio-frequent deuterium plasma. We found evidence that the lower part of the phonon density of states (PDOS) spectral region (300–900 cm−1) that rises when defects are introduced in crystals can give more information on the structure than expected. For example, the height of the PDOS, taken at 400 cm−1 and compared to the height of the G band, depends on the sp2 content, estimated by electron energy-loss spectroscopy. This ratio measured with 633 nm laser is more intense than with 514 nm laser. It is also correlated for diamond to the relative intensity ratio between the diamond band at 1332 cm−1 and the G band at ≈1500–1600 cm−1 when using 325 nm laser. Moreover, it is found that the shape of the PDOS of the exposed graphite samples is different when changing the wavelength of the laser used, giving evidence of a double resonance mechanism origin with the rise of the associated D3, D4 and D5 bands, which is not the case for a-C:H samples.

Bursaphelenchus firmae n. sp. is described. This new species was isolated during a field survey of longhorn beetle-associated nematodes. The fourth-stage dispersal (dauer) juveniles of the new species were recovered from dissected bodies (tracheal system) of Monochamus grandis, which emerged from dead logs of Japanese fir, Abies firma, collected from Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan. The new species is mid-sized for the genus, with females 603-828 μm and males 530-698 μm long. Four lateral lines occur on the body surface and seven genital papillae are found in males (P1 ventral single papilla and P2-P4 pairs). A long and arcuate spicule forms a trapezium in lateral view and a rather large, sub-squared, bursal flap and a vulva with conspicuous vulval flap are present. The female tail is smoothly tapered and possesses a conspicuous and blunt mucro. Based upon its diagnostic morphological characters, the new species belongs to the B. xylophilus group of the genus, and is closely related to B. fraudulentus, B. mucronatus, B. doui, B. macromucronatus and B. populi. It is distinguished from these five species by the morphology of the male bursal flap and the female mucro and several morphometric values. Molecular phylogenetic analyses inferred from D2/D3 LSU suggest that the new species is close to B. mucronatus and B. xylophilus, i.e., these three species form a well supported monophyletic clade within the genus. Although the new species has a weak pathogenicity to pine trees, it does not seem to be a severe risk to native pine forests.

Increasing agricultural yields and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are the main themes of agricultural development in the 21st century. This study investigated the yield and GHGs of a jujube–alfalfa intercropping crop, relying on a long-term field location experiment of intercropping in an arid region. The treatments included four planting densities (D1 (210 kg ha−1 sowing rate; six rows), D2 (280 kg ha−1 sowing rate; eight rows), D3 (350 kg ha−1 sowing rate; ten rows)) and four nitrogen levels (N0 (0 kg ha−1), N1 (80 kg ha−1), N2 (160 kg ha−1), and N3 (240 kg ha−1)) in the jujube–alfalfa intercropping system. The results showed that the jujube–alfalfa intercropping system is a the “source” of atmospheric CO2 and N2O, and the “sink” of CH4; the trend of CO2 fluxes was “single peak”, while the trend of N2O and CH4 fluxes was “double peak”, and there was a tendency for their “valley peaks” to become a “mirror” of each another. The magnitude of emissions under the nitrogen level was N3 > N2 > N1 > N0; the content of soil total nitrogen, quick-acting nitrogen, and the global warming potential (GWP) increased with an increase in the amount of nitrogen that was applied, but the pH showed the opposite tendency. The D2N2 treatment increased the total N, quick N, SOC, and SOM content to reduce the alfalfa GHG emission intensity (GHGI) by only 0.061 kg CO2-eq kg−1 compared to the other treatments. D2N2 showed a good balance between yield benefits and environmental benefits. The total D2N2 yield was the most prominent among all treatments, with a 47.64% increase in yield in 2022 compared to the D1N0 treatment. The results showed that the optimization of planting density and N fertilization reduction strategies could effectively improve economic efficiency and reduce net greenhouse gas emissions. In the jujube–alfalfa intercropping system, D2N2 (eight rows planted in one film 160 N = 160 kg ha−1) realized the optimal synergistic effect between planting density and nitrogen application, and the results of this study provide theoretical support for the reduction in GHGs emissions in northwest China without decreasing the yield of alfalfa forage.
