Cet article propose de faire le lien entre les différentes révolutions industrielles, les principales théories de l’apprentissage et la formation en ligne : à travers l’histoire, nous montrons comment l’éducation s’est toujours plus centrée sur l’apprenant, quand nos systèmes de production et d’éducation de masse ont dépossédé les consommateurs de la conception et de l’agencement des produits et les apprenants de leurs curriculums d’apprentissage. En introduisant une dimension connectiviste dans un cours à l’université, nous montrons ses effets sur les étudiants, sur leurs apprentissages et sur comment le connectivisme pourrait permettre de développer les compétences essentielles à la quatrième révolution industrielle.

This article begins with a critical review of alternative strategies currently in use to study educational productivity. These unfolding research programs are considered in the light of increasing public demands for improvement of productivity in education. A critique is offered of the dominant conception of the education production process that undergirds many of these studies, and alternative conceptions are offered. The effects of efforts to improve productivity are examined in the context of each of these different conceptions. The article concludes by advocating a new line of research designed to generate insight into more fundamental aspects of education production processes. This new type of productivity research places greater emphasis than is customary on the classroom as the unit of analysis.

Cet article prend en considération la période romaine de Paul Flandrin (1811-1902), se basant sur une ample production inédite de l’artiste : vingt cinq oeuvres entre dessins, peinture, carnets, albums y sont présentées et soumises à discussion critique en une mise en rapport avec Ingres et Corot, reconnus comme les deux référents de Flandrin. Nous nous proposons une lecture qui identifie, dans les années romaines (1834-1838), la naissance de deux parcours que le peintre entreprend en Italie et qui marquent l’ensemble de sa carrière : une ligne de simplification et de synthèse fondée sur l’étude d’après nature d’une part, et d’autre parte une manière poétique, intime et symboliste de conception de la nature. Sera également mis en valeur le réseau d’échanges et de relations artistiques entre Flandrin et ses collègues paysagistes.

The prediction of failures in a factory is now an important area of industry that helps to reduce time and cost of non-quality from the data generated from the sensors installed on production lines, this data is used to detect anomalies and predict defects before they occur. The purpose of this article is to model an intelligent production line capable of predicting various types of non-conforming products. For that, we will utilize the neural network methodology within the specific context of a production line specialized in juice manufacturing. Firstly, we introduce the production line under study, along with its distinct manufacturing phases. Secondly, we evaluate the performance indicators of this line, enabling us to gain an overview of its efficiency and overall performance. Subsequently, we present common industrial solutions that are frequently implemented to address the issues identified during our analysis. At this stage, we propose a predictive model based on neural network methodology. This model will possess the capability to detect and identify defective products and potential hazards within a production line before they occur. Throughout this study, we compare between three models of neural networks: LSTM model using Stochastic gradient descend (SGD), Feed forward model using ADAM Optimization and Feed forward model using Levenberg–Marquardt back propagation (LMBP), in order to determine the most optimal method in terms of achieved results. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness, performance, and accuracy of the results through the testing phase of the neural networks.

AbstractThe objectives of this study were to investigate reproductive performance and the influence of maternal environment on reproductive performance in two genetic lines of maiden heifers. These were given food and managed in the same way at the Langhill Dairy Cattle Research Centre. The two genetic lines were established in 1973; one has been selected for high combined yield of fat plus protein (selection line; S) and the other has been maintained at around the UK average for genetic merit of yield of fat plus protein (control line; C). Analysis of the reproductive performance of 988 heifers born between 1981 and 1998 showed that S heifers were poorer (all P < 0·05) than C heifers for all reproductive measures: conception at first service (S: 0·64, s.e. 0·02; C: 0·71, s.e. 0·03), interval between first and last service (S: 18·2 days, s.e. 2·2; C: 13·4 days, s.e. 2·2) and number of services per conception (S: 1·49 services, s.e. 0·06; C: 1·39 services, s.e. 0·06). S heifers were also younger at first service than C heifers (474·9 days v. 480·1 days, s.e. 1·9, for S and C respectively; P • 01). Fertility of service sires may have had some influence on these results, but this could not be investigated here, as S heifers were mated only to high merit bulls and C heifers to average merit bulls. However, within genetic line, the yearly downward trend in the average number of services per conception of heifers was significantly different from zero for the S line, but not the C line. There were no statistically significant relationships between conception rates in maiden heifers and their subsequent reproductive performance in first lactation. The effect of maternal environment on the reproductive performance of daughters as maiden heifers was investigated. There were no statistically significant relationships between daughter reproductive performance and dam parity or the feeding system of the dam (either a high or low level of concentrates). Within the limited range of nutritional status of dams during the periods post calving and in early pregnancy, there was no statistically significant effect of maternal nutrition on daughter reproductive performance.

Summary Economic and sensitivity analysis methods were used to evaluate financial returns from use of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) at the time of insemination to enhance fertility of dairy cows. A computer spread sheet was used to determine the best service(s) for GnRH treatment, the increase in conception rate required for economic benefit from treatment, and how profits from GnRH treatment are affected by drug cost, herd reproductive efficiency, and production costs. Financial returns increased from use of GnRH at insemination under most herd conditions. Herds with conception rates ≤45% benefited from GnRH treatment at any 1 or 2 inseminations. Herds with conception rates ≥60% benefited from GnRH treatment only at second or later services. Selection of second and/or third insemination as the GnRH treatment service usually resulted in the greatest total return. The enhancement of fertility necessary to achieve the break-even point with GnRH treatment at third service was 2% for low-and 5% for high-conception-rate herds. Base-line herd conception rates, estrus detection efficiency, replacement costs, value of excess days not pregnant, and cost of treatment had the greatest effect on returns from treatment. Herds with high conception rates and low replacement costs were likely to realize the least benefit from GnRH treatment at insemination. On the basis of our findings, we concluded that GnRH treatment at insemination is a profitable procedure under most herd conditions. Optimal treatment regimens for specific herds may best be determined by using herd performance and management data for calculating returns.

Abstract The problem considered in the paper is motivated by production planning in a foundry equipped with the furnace and casting line, which provides a variety of castings in various grades of cast iron/steel for a large number of customers. The quantity of molten metal does not exceed the capacity of the furnace, the load is a particular type of metal from which the products are made. The goal is to create the order of the melted metal loads to prevent delays in delivery of goods to customers. This problem is generally considered as a lot-sizing and scheduling problem. The paper describes a mathematical programming model that formally defines the optimization problem and its relaxed version that is based on the conception of rolling-horizon planning.

There is evidence from UK field data to suggest that selection for milk yield has led to a deterioration in the fertility of lactating dairy cows (Pryce et al., 1997). As cow fertility may be affected by metabolic load and lactation effects, it is important to investigate the fertility of non-lactating heifers. Since 1973 selection line (S) cows at the Langhill Dairy Cattle Research Centre have been bred to bulls with the highest predicted transmitting abilities for weights of fat plus protein (PTA F+P) available in the UK, while the control line (C) are of about UK average genetic merit for PTA F+P. Results using data from lactating Langhill cows show that S cows have calving intervals that are, on average, 12 days longer than C cows, which is a combination of poorer conception rates and a delay in first observed oestrus (Pryce et al., 1999). The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of selection for PTA F+P on the fertility of maiden heifers at Langhill.

Research on the constitution, food security, and sustainable development have become widely explored. However, issues related to the legal framework in the context of a green constitution remain unresolved. This is particularly evident in Indonesia’s efforts to address the food crisis, which has led to substantial deforestation. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the implementation of food security efforts in line with a green constitution in Indonesia. Despite the potential for adopting sustainability for future generations, there is hesitance in implementing articles related to a green constitution in food security activities. This legal issue is examined as normative research using conceptual and comparative methods and deductive logic. The results show that, firstly, food security is a pillar in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), necessitating the correction of erroneous paradigms to optimize the strategic project. The urgency of the implementation in line with sustainable development is based on five fundamental points: conservation of natural resources, environmental protection, social welfare, sustainable economic growth, and fulfilling future needs. Secondly, legislation firmly establishes the significance of sustainable development principles to prioritize environmental consciousness. In addition, there is a need for reformulation in Article 33 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia by adding wording or explanations. This would regulate the limitations of environmental exploitation for community prosperity and establish regulations for development without shifting agricultural land and food production.

The consumption of electrical energy and other resources during the manufacturing phase is considered by the ecological footprint. This study offers a conception for the determination of the ecological footprint within manufacturing systems based on life cycle assessments. The existence of basic data is a requirement for such an evaluation. Therefore, a holistic measurement system is presented which is adaptable to small as well as large scaled production environments and different usage scenarios, e.g. full scale measurement or detailed process analysis.

For centuries, it is known that people always prefer to accommodate in the region where there is good transportation network. Proper organization of transportation is one of the key elements which influence the dynamics of the World economics system development. Thanks to infrastructure modernization which allows to transfer the goods between engaged parties, it is possible to increase production and commonly to intense exploitation of areas located near this infrastructure among others in industry purposes. With regard to increasing demand for effective and efficient transportation system, there is a real need to improve communication and transportation infrastructure. A chance for this target shall be modern high technologies, which allows running with very high speed and thus also to reduce journey time. For this purpose there were established and is still developing relatively new product – high speed rail which is supposed to revolutionize modern transportation system functioning in the World. The article calls attention on a chance for improving competitiveness of rail freight transportation in Poland thanks to developing high speed rail network. There is underlined also rationality of modernization of the rail line which connect the biggest cities in South part of Poland. The descriptive part of the article refers to the high speed rail system and its development conditions. The research part is a technical feasibility study about section Cracow – Katowice – Wroclaw and possibilities for adopting it to achieve high speed rail line parameters.

One of the main routes that anthropology has taken to study the production of material culture has been the anthropology of techniques. Although different scholars had recognized several problems and elaborated proposals to overcome them, it is still possible to recognize a temporal, spatial and technical conception grounded on a modern ontology that emphasizes a metronomic, abstract and mechanical understanding of them. To overcome this problem, this article proposes introducing the idea of rhythm into the analysis of the production of material culture. In order to do so, the author first elaborates a rhythmical approach to techniques. After which, the article’s focus falls on the rhythms of making petroglyphs in Cuesta Pabellón, a rock art site located in the Limarí Valley, Chile. The results suggest that rock art production is a rhythmical practice that involves a bodily itineration along different gestures, intensities, pauses, disruptions and spatial orientations which resonate and correspond with the way people produce this element of material culture. It is argued that the production of rock art resembles a way of dancing in which the engraver, the emerging line, and the previous lines made by others enter into the process of correspondences in which rhythms play a substantial role.

This article deals with the question of how academic freedom can be conceptualized and justified. First, I analyze two conceptions of academic freedom: institutional autonomy and intellectual and professional autonomy. I claim that institutional autonomy is a limited way to conceptualize academic freedom because there is no guarantee that institutions always favor freedom of intellectuals. In line with this, I argue that academic freedom as intellectual and professional autonomy should be the prior, if not the only, conception of academic freedom. Second, I examine critically different justifications of academic freedom that provide us with reasons to attach high protection to academic freedom as a particular right. I contend that the justification of the university as a realm of discovery of truth and independent knowledge production has to be complemented with the justifications of the university as a realm of democratic free debate and the autonomy of academics to speak freely. This is because, the discovery of truth argument alone does not require us to accept any moral principle other than skepticism about our own beliefs, which is not a strong ground for free speech on its own. Third, I argue that equal autonomy provides a good reason for academic freedom by emphasizing the rights of academics to speak in line with what they believe is true and only in this way can they contribute to the democratic debate in academia. This line of reasoning endorses the value of the search for truth and knowledge too since it is only possible for academics to perform the profession of search for truth when they are able to speak, write and research freely.

This study described two companies’ financial compensation programs for semiconductor workers with suspected work-related diseases (WRDs) and discussed the major related issues. The key contents of the programs found on the websites opened by two semiconductor companies (Samsung and SK Hynix) were cited. In order to select the suspected WRDs for the FSC, all available epidemiologic studies related to health problems conducted in the semiconductor industry were reviewed. Most program contents are similar, although the amount of financial compensation and a few types of disease available for compensation differ between the companies. The group of cancer, rare disease, childhood rare disease among children born to semiconductor workers (hereafter selected diseases among offspring), and fetal loss, including spontaneous abortion (SAB) and stillbirth, were considered for compensation. An employment duration of longer than one year on a semiconductor production line is required for FSC for cancer or rare disease. The FSC for SAB and offspring disease require a period of employment longer than one month, either before three months prior to conception or between conception and childbirth. The maximum amount of compensation per type of cancer and rare disease was fixed based on the medical treatment fee. The FSC programs of the two companies have been operated successfully to date. These programs are arguably considered to contribute to resolving the conflict between companies and workers with WRDs.

There are three key times during the year when deer management interacts with behavioural needs to influence pr oductivity. At calving time , average neonatal losses are 10-12%. The most common causes of perinatal mortality are dystocia, starvation and misadventure. Observational studies have shown that loss of contact between the hind and calf, calf beating by hinds and entanglement of calves in fences are consequences of calving environments with high stocking densities, that lack vegetative or topographical cover, allow disturbance by humans, or provide unfamiliar social or environmental conditions. Weaning is a second critical production phase when management affects pr oductivity. Early post-weaning growth rates in calves weaned before the rut are not influenced readily by feed quality. Reducing weaning stress using management tools such as confining the calves indoors for a few days, or adding some unrelated hinds to the weaned group can improve weight gains at this time. Another option is to delay weaning until the calves are older. Mating time is a third critical period dur ing which management needs to take behavioural needs into account. Appr opriate stag-hind ratios and management at mating that increase the chances of conception have been identified. Suitable social conditions at mating differ between yearling and adult hinds. Fence line pacing is frequently observed at the above three critical times and can occur at other times of the year in response to unfavourable conditions. Pacing consumes energy and contributes to erosion and fence maintenance requirements. Attention to the behavioural needs of deer can help improve performance through appropriate management systems. AbstractIf vaccines are to reliably prevent disease, they must be developed, produced and quality-controlled according to very strict regulations and procedures. Veterinary viral vaccine registrations are governed by different rules in different countries, but these rules all emphasize that the quality of the raw materials—the cells, eggs, animals or plants that are used in production—need to be carefully controlled. The veterinary vaccine business is also very cost-conscious. Emphasis over the last 5–10 years has therefore been to develop culture systems that minimize labor and sterility problems and thus provide for reliable and cost-effective production. Implementing these often more complex systems in a production environment takes considerable effort, first in scale-up trials and further down the line in convincing production personnel to change their familiar system for something new and possibly untried. To complete scale-up trials successfully, it is absolutely necessary to understand the biochemistry of the cells and the influence of the virus on the cells under scale-up and later production conditions. Once a viral product can be produced on a large scale, it is imperative that the quality of the end-product is controlled in an intelligent way. One needs to know whether the end-product performs in the animal as was intended during its conception in the research and development department. The development of the appropriate tests to demonstrate this plays an important role in the successful development of a vaccine.

This article examines the American premiere of the German opera Jonny spielt auf as a form of what I call Jim Crow translation. As originally written and composed by Ernst Krenek, the opera centres on Jonny, a Black jazz musician, who disorders the logic of European cultural superiority. Although thoroughly modern in its original German staging, using stereophonic radios and film projectors, Krenek’s appropriation of Blackness relied on blackface baritones to play Jonny. When the opera came to New York’s Metropolitan Opera, the history of minstrelsy and the legal system of Jim Crow haunted the production. While Jonny was depicted as thoroughly cosmopolitan and modern in Krenek’s conception of the opera, the American production, under the management of Giulio Gatti-Casazza, attempted to turn Jonny into a white vaudevillian in blackface, a publicity stunt that brought the opera further attention under the guise of protecting American morals against a narrative of interracial sexual desire. Though Krenek created an opera based on the value of Black modernity, Gatti-Casazza displayed American racial anxieties through the opera’s promotion. The proposed revisions to the text, through which racialist regimes demonstrated their power over cultural production, reflect the role that translation can play in reinforcing the colour line.

Industry 4.0 (I4.0) is built upon the capabilities of Internet of Things technologies that facilitate the recollection and processing of data. Originally conceived to improve the performance of manufacturing facilities, the field of application for I4.0 has expanded to reach most industrial sectors. To make the best use of the capabilities of I4.0, machine architectures and design paradigms have had to evolve. This is particularly important as the development of certain advanced manufacturing technologies has been passed from large companies to their subsidiaries and suppliers from around the world. This work discusses how design methodologies, such as those based on functional analysis, can incorporate new functions to enhance the architecture of machines. In particular, the article discusses how connectivity facilitates the development of smart manufacturing capabilities through the incorporation of I4.0 principles and resources that in turn improve the computing capacity available to machine controls and edge devices. These concepts are applied to the development of an in-line metrology station for automotive components. The impact on the design of the machine, particularly on the conception of the control, is analyzed. The resulting machine architecture allows for measurement of critical features of all parts as they are processed at the manufacturing floor, a critical operation in smart factories. Finally, this article discusses how the I4.0 infrastructure can be used to collect and process data to obtain useful information about the process.

Les usines de production d’eau potable disposent d’un levier d’amélioration de leur empreinte environnementale, via le recyclage interne des effluents de lavage de leurs filtres. Cette pratique, déjà existante en France, diminue les prélèvements dans les ressources en eau, limite les rejets et peut conduire à une économie énergétique. Toutefois, en raison d’éventuels risques sanitaires liés à la qualité de la ressource et au type de traitement, chaque projet de recyclage est considéré comme un cas particulier, et soumis à autorisation spécifique. Le cadre réglementaire du recyclage étant assez général en France, il a fallu le compléter par un cadre sanitaire. Ainsi les acteurs locaux désireux de mettre en place de tels projets et les autorités sanitaires locales chargées d’instruire les dossiers disposent depuis 2017 de lignes directrices publiées par l’Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail (Anses), qui s’appuient sur des études et retours d’expériences de la Fédération professionnelle des entreprises de l’eau (FP2E). Pour compléter ce document de référence, la FP2E a édité en 2021 un guide destiné à accompagner les maîtres d’ouvrage, les maîtres d’oeuvre, les concepteurs et les opérateurs, dans la conception et la gestion opérationnelle de leurs projets de recyclage. Ce guide, également diffusé aux agences régionales de santé (ARS), synthétise les principales recommandations de l’Anses et illustre de façon concrète leur application pour les grandes configurations de filières rencontrées sur le terrain. Après une brève présentation du guide FP2E, des retours d’expérience de trois services d’eau potable ayant adopté le recyclage d’effluents de lavage sont exposés, avec dans chaque cas une description des motivations et des modalités de mise en oeuvre et une synthèse des principales étapes du projet. Ces exemples montrent que cette pratique, vertueuse pour l’environnement, est suffisamment encadrée pour assurer la sécurité sanitaire. Elle est donc à promouvoir plus largement.

La mission principale du groupe de travail Epnac est de mettre à disposition des informations techniques sur la conception, le dimensionnement et l’exploitation des ouvrages de traitement des eaux usées adaptés au contexte rural. Il s’adresse notamment aux maîtres d’oeuvre et maîtres d’ouvrage, qu’ils soient issus du domaine privé ou public. Le groupe national inclut l’ensemble des acteurs publics de l’eau et de l’assainissement (financeurs, législateurs, techniciens de terrain), en intégrant une caution scientifique par le biais de l’Institut national de recherche pour l’agriculture, l’alimentation et l’environnement (Inrae). Son mode de fonctionnement est inédit à l’échelle nationale, en particulier sa structuration en ateliers participatifs de travail, sur un socle d’acteurs experts et indépendants, avec l’implication active de l’État dans les réflexions. Après une décennie de travail, le groupe comptabilise 46 documents produits directement par ses 15 ateliers, de 2009 à 2019. Les productions sont en libre accès sur le site Epnac, qui contribue ainsi à la mise en ligne de 118 ouvrages de référence, et devient un centre de ressource national dans le domaine de la gestion des eaux urbaines résiduaires des petites et moyennes collectivités. Le colloque dénommé Journées techniques Epnac est également le reflet de ce partage des connaissances en toute objectivité, avec près de 150 participants chaque année venant de différents horizons de la sphère publique. Cette expertise portée par le groupe revêt toute son importance dans le contexte actuel de mouvance des acteurs territoriaux de la gestion de l’eau. Les nouveaux ateliers de travail oeuvrent dès 2020 sur les thématiques « réhabilitation des stations », « procédés nouveaux », « réglementation », « pluvial », « interaction avec les collectivités » et « réutilisation des eaux usées traitées ».

Cet article porte sur la conception et l’enseignement de cours en ligne dans le contexte de l’école secondaire de langue française en Ontario relativement à la reconnaissance de la diversité culturelle et linguistique des élèves. Des entretiens auprès de membres responsables de la conception des cours et du personnel enseignant ont été menés. L’analyse s’intéresse aux paradigmes et aux approches qui guident la conception de cours en ligne, à la flexibilité et à la variété de leurs composantes, à la communication qui y est prévue et à la sensibilité culturelle qui en ressort. Les résultats révèlent des approches et des pratiques qui exploitent peu ou mal certaines composantes disponibles et limitent l’apport même des élèves dans la construction des connaissances et la reconnaissance de la variété linguistique.

This article re-examines Krapp, ou La Dernière bande (1961), an opera adaptation of Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape (1958), which was a collaboration between the playwright and the Romanian composer Marcel Mihalovici. Beckett’s changes to the libretto give new insights into the writer’s developing concerns around form and his aesthetic of failure. In the programme for the Bielefeld production of the opera in 1961, Beckett supplied a sentence from the German translation of his Texts for Nothing, although inverting its first two clauses. His inclusion of this line in the programme affords us greater insight into Beckett’s ever evolving conception of the play. Shane O’Neill’s doctoral research on Samuel Beckett’s self-translated drama is funded by the Irish Research Council. He teaches at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, and has published essays in Samuel Beckett Today/Aujourd’hui and the edited volume Samuel Beckett and Translation (Edinburgh University Press, 2021).

A re-examination is made of the old interpretation that the male reproductive system of the short-beaked echidna (Tachyglossus aculateus), and monotremes in general, is ?primitive?. There is an emerging concept of the significance of the male reproductive system in relation to the role of males in conception. Even though some aspects of the male reproductive system of T. aculateus may be considered primitive and impose limitations on their life style, they nevertheless display significant specializations present in the male tract of other mammals: an epididymis with the unique initial segment and a role in post-testicular sperm maturation and storage, and homologues of the prostate gland and penis. The absence of a descended testis and scrotum has not restricted the survival of T. aculateus in virtually all habitats in Australia. However, it may restrict their capacity to breed throughout the year. It is suggested that T. aculateus is also specialised for sperm competition. An estimate of the rate of spermatogenesis indicates that it is comparable with other mammals. Consequently, the size of their testes and number of extragonadal sperm compared with other mammals are indicative that they are involved in sperm competition. The cooperation involved in the formation of sperm bundles is also indicative of sperm competition. Further, the formation of ?echidna trains?, in which a number of males will follow in line behind an oestrous female indicates that there is competition between males to mate with a female.

Le BIM s’est progressivement imposé comme un standard organisé autour d’une maquette numérique (BIM Niveau 2). Dans un environnement technologique à présent dominé par l’usage massif des réseaux numériques, les « plateformes de conception » représentent un nouveau paradigme de modélisation distribuée (BIM Niveau 3). Dans ce contexte, le principe « monolithique » des logiciels de bureau tend à évoluer vers des applications en ligne plus spécialisées. La possibilité qu’offre ce nouveau paradigme de composer des applications et des données provenant de sources variées rend possible la création de chaînes complexes de modélisation qui annoncent une évolution possible des principes fondamentaux du BIM.

The popularity of mobile devices in all social classes has motivated the development of mobile learning (m-learning) applications. The existing applications, even having many benefits and facilities in relation to the teaching-learning process, still presents problems and challenges, es- pecially regarding the development, reuse and architectural standardization. Particularly, there is a growing adoption of the Software Product Line (SPL) concept, in view of research that investigates these gaps. This paradigm enables organizations to explore the similarities and variabilities of their products, increasing the reuse of artifacts and, consequently, reducing costs and development time. In this context, we discuss how systematic reuse can improve the development of solutions in the m-learning domain. Therefore, this work presents the design, development and experimental evaluation of M-SPLearning, an SPL created to enable the systematic production of m-learning applications. Specifically, the conception of M-SPLearning covers from the initial study for an effective domain analysis to the implementation and evaluation of its functional version. In this regard, the products have been experimentally evaluated by industry software developers, pro- viding statistical evidence that the use of our SPL can speed up the time-to-market of m-learning applications, in addition to reducing their respective number of faults.

Qu’ont en commun l’art spiritualiste de Hector de Saint-Denys Garneau et le monisme de Paul-Émile Borduas ? Premier poète québécois à faire de la peinture un objet de réflexion esthétique, Saint-Denys Garneau tient pourtant en suspicion la modernité artistique, refusant « l’injure à l’art » que représentent pour lui le cubisme et l’art abstrait. Si l’ekphrasis, chez Saint-Denys Garneau, s’éloigne du « pittoresque » pour s’approcher du « pictural », l’idéalisation du sujet et l’objectivation de la vision qu’il cultive diffèrent cependant fortement de la conception du tableau de Borduas. Aux notions d’ordre, de centre, d’harmonie, d’unité, de transparence et d’élévation autour desquelles le poète et artiste ordonne encore le visible, Borduas oppose celles d’automatisme psychique, d’écriture automatique, de liberté du geste, de « désir-passion », de « grâce surrationnelle », appelant une exploration du chaos du monde intérieur et une plongée dans l’inconscient menant inéluctablement à un contact brutal avec la matière sensible. Prenant acte de l’apparition de Garneau et Borduas au même moment sur la scène publique montréalaise, vers 1937-1938, et cherchant à mesurer le pouvoir de séduction particulier qu’exercent sur eux durant ces années décisives la pensée et l’oeuvre de John Lyman, l’auteur interroge la conception antagoniste que chacun se forge du dessin et de la couleur et examine certains des enjeux essentiels, après la publication du Journal de Saint-Denys Garneau, qui déterminent la posture double et ambiguë de Borduas à l’endroit de l’héritage de l’écrivain.

The furniture industry constantly strives to search for ecological and cost-effective solutions in the production of wood-based composites. It is anticipated that furniture with a honeycomb core and HDF-facing will gain market share. Understanding how specific technical and procedural factors on the finishing line affect the resistance of coatings on furniture elements made of honeycomb boards was the main goal of the study. With the use of a digital microscope, the roughness of two different types of HDF was tested. On the industrial UV LED+Hg finishing line, 198 different surface coating variations were produced by applying five or six layers of varnish applied, ranging from 3 to 30 g/m2 and hardening them with various surface power densities. On the basis of statistical tests, the influence of individual factors on abrasion, impact, and scratch resistance was determined. The nanointendence test of the coatings was used to measure the hardness and elasticity modulus. The coloring caused by coffee traces was checked using a colorimeter. The findings confirm the conception that LED+Hg lamp modules can replace mercury and gallium-doped mercury lamps.

It implies the involvement of citizens in news collection, production, sharing, analyzing, discussing and commenting by using different platforms. The definition commonly accepted is that citizen journalism refers to news produced by amateurs, random people willing to share different information for different situations. Whether some sees these terms used to describe this phenomenon ambiguous others do not prefer to call it journalism and describe these people more as seasonal or circumstantial news gathers. However, this type of journalism is changing the mainstream media, the conception of news production and consumption even though opinions in about the impact it has on mainstream media are contradict. Observations has shown that revenues and audience for printed newspapers and advertisements have declined through the years forcing many newspapers to close their activity and making very difficult for others to survive. Answering these questions is extremely difficult but what we can say is that citizen journalism and professional journalism do differ in somehow and professionals like to draw a line between two types of journalism. Citizen journalism has both its negative and positive aspects and different scholars and professionals have different opinions regarding it.

Abstract Adipati Mangkunegara IV founded the Tasikmadu Sugar Factory in the Karanganyar region, Central Java, in 1871 and is still active today. The Tasikmadu sugar factory is an essential industrial heritage in Java because it is the first modern sugar factory in the Javanese kingdom that still survives its function. The existence of a sugar factory in the Javanese kingdom initiated the interaction between Javanese agrarian feudal culture and modern capitalism culture at that time. This paper aims to identify what cultural elements are present in Praja Mangkunegaran’s sugar factory environment. The cultural interactions in the sugar factory environment are then viewed from the system setting which consists of aspects of actors, activities, and places through a qualitative descriptive historical approach. The findings from the aspect of actors indicate central figures who are culturally very influential on the sugar factory production system. The activity aspect findings show that there are ritual activities in the production process that are culturally important because they are considered to determine the success of all activities in the sugar factory. The aspects of actors and activities are in line with findings from the aspect of the place, which show that rational considerations in factory buildings’ structure are related to the sacred-profane conception that is believed by the Javanese people. These cultural aspects play a role in supporting the sustainability of the Praja Mangkunegaran sugar factory.

Examining the recent post-Marxist conception of labor in the contemporary context of financialization and global crisis, this essay contests prevailing ideas about the contemporary eradication of the distinction between production and reproduction, between labor and life, encapsulated in the notion of “real subsumption.” Departing from these ideas I argue that the extraction of value from “life” takes place through multiple and contradictory modalities, and propose the concept of “life-times” as a way to foreground important differences in the social uses, practices, understanding, valorization, and inhabitation of the times of life and their relations in a global economy in which the “production time” of capital has encompassed all of life. Drawing on the social contexts of undocumented immigrants, guest workers, refugees, and displaced persons, I elaborate on differential life-times from the side of life destined for disposable superfluity. I look at acts of “fate playing” in the contexts of migrant Filipina workers and the urban lumpenproletariat to view those dimensions of social reproductive work on the part of disposable peoples that persist beyond and despite capitalist subsumption and exceed most theoretical accounts of labor. An attention to such remaindered life-times raises questions about the limits of our political imagination and of our vision of the time line of global capitalism’s duration and end.

The deformation process of steel in the semi-solid state, or thixoforming is an alternative solution to the classical industrial processes that are the casting or the hot forging. Thixoformed steel parts are of better quality and may substitute advantageously parts realized in cast iron leading to an improvement of the rigidity, for example, but also parts in aluminium alloys obtained by the main deformation processes: for lower volume, thixoformed steel parts, keeping the same functionality, present superior mechanical properties than the parts realized in aluminium alloys. The industrial development of the steel thixoforming must be accompanied by the knowledge and the various parameters control of the process: steel grades definition and elaboration, the homogeneous high-temperature heating of the slug before deformation, conception or re-conception of the part to adapt it to the process and the practice properties, the equipment definitions which are used for the deformation operation at the semi-solid state. The handling system is also important in the thixoforming process; it is going to allow the slug transfer, at the semi-solid state, between the heating zone and the tooling or to evacuate the thixoformed part towards the mean assuring the quality heat treatment of the part. The means choice which are industrially going to ensure the process have a big importance to obtain successful production line and so, a cost reduction by “finished” part competitive with regard to processes used classically today. After the description of the applicable key points to the main parameters and the solutions used to obtain a successful product: high mechanical characteristics, near net shape or net shape geometry, no flash and limited machining operation, ... are described , The investigations finished with an approach comparing the part cost realised by thixoforming process with regard to classical processes.

AbstractSelection of dairy cattle for increased milk production has decreased some indices of reproductive efficiency. For example, days open are increased by one day for every 100 kg of increased milk yield per lactation. Some of the change in days open can be explained by delayed onset of oestrous cyclicity and lower conception rate to artificial insemination in cows with greater milk production. Despite these negative associations between milk production and reproduction, reproduction in herds of high producing dairy cattle is not necessarily compromised relative to reproduction in herds of low producing dairy cattle. This is because there is a large environmental effect on dairy reproduction. High producing herds generally have better management and better oestrous detection. Therefore, high producing dairy herds may partially overcome the antagonistic relationship between milk production and reproduction. Physiological mechanisms that lead to poorer reproduction in high producing cows are partially defined. Negative energy balance that occurs in high producing dairy cows can be associated with a delay in the initiation of ovarian cycles and the interval to first breeding. Many of the effects of negative energy balance on postpartum reproduction can be explained by decreased serum luteinizing hormone (LH) that is associated with negative energy balance. Serum LH increases as cows move toward positive energy balance and greater LH stimulates growth and ovulation of ovarian follicles. We have initiated studies to address physiological differences in high and low index dairy cows. The reproductive endocrinology of cows from a control line (5,900 kg milk/lactation) and a select line (10,900 kg milk/lactation) of dairy cows at the University of Minnesota was studied over a two-year period. Cows in Year 1 were similar for serum concentrations of LH, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and oestradiol (preovulatory period). In both years, serum concentrations of progesterone during luteal phases, however, were decreased in select cows. The Year 2 cows also had a delay in the return to oestrous cyclicity that was associated with reduced LH. The possibility that decreased progesterone causes infertility in dairy cows will require further study. Collectively, these data suggest that changes in blood progesterone concentrations may explain, partially, lower fertility in high index dairy cows.

Résumé L’essor des technologies liées à l’Internet et l’utilisation du e-commerce, font naître de nouvelles attentes de la part des clients et des collaborateurs. Et, les entreprises soucieuses de leur progrès tentent à satisfaire continuellement leurs clients potentiels. Cependant, la sécurisation du paiement en ligne présente encore quelques problèmes. Le présent article décrit la conception, l’architecture ainsi que quelques fonctionnalités d’une application web dont les données ont été intégrées dans une base des données, mais bien manipulables même à distance, pour résoudre le problème d’achat des logiciels à distance par les clients avec possibilité de paiement sécurisé en ligne et une livraison automatique via leur boîte électronique (e-mail) [1]. This paper describes a research study related to the development (conception, production, implementation and evaluation) of a set of transmedia activities associated with the study of humans ‘use of rocks. To do so, a narrative was created to guide students through a set of tasks—namely, during and after a field trip. During this field trip, students had to macroscopically identify a rock sample and record its geographical location, as well as take pictures in six stations. According to the data collected, students would, after the field trip, share this knowledge in a digital learning environment and collect pieces of a puzzle and, in some cases, badges. These transmedia activities, in line with the STS (Science-Technology-Society) perspective, aimed at contributing to the diversification of educational resources for Geosciences education. The study, predominantly qualitative in nature, reached 104 students from the 7th and 5th grades in a Natural Sciences course and the analysis of data suggests that students showed some skills in areas such as “interpersonal relationships”, “scientific, technical, and technological knowledge” and “information and communication”, although in this case they can be considered rather limited.

This article argues for a broader and more socially relevant photosynthesis instruction in compulsory science education. Presently, the predominant practice is traditional instruction, focusing on students' conceptual understanding of photosynthesis based on molecular and energy-related principles. Views of what is referred to as scientific literacy change in line with the new values and demands of a globalised society. Scientific literacy has evolved from a narrow conception of natural sciences to a broader teaching approach, addressing science from a whole society perspective. The article discusses how photosynthesis instruction can be redirected tofuture issues such as societal and sustainability and argues for a wider approach to scientific literacy involving active citizenship to address present and future sustainability challenges. A scientific literacy model is presented, along with its relation to the concept of powerful knowledge, defined as the kind of knowledge students need to have control and agency in their own lives. Powerful knowledge is discussed in terms of how photosynthesis instruction could be used to address societal and sustainability issues such as climate change, food chains, energy issues and food production. The need for a new and updated photosynthesis education 2.0 is presented.

Palm oil is Indonesia's leading commodity that is able to compete in the international market. However, there are often accusations that Indonesian palm oil is unsustainable due to problems of deforestation, corruption and human rights violations against land grabbing of indigenous and local communities. So that they lose their homes and find it difficult to meet their needs because they depend on the forest. In response to this, the government has updated the ISPO regulations through Presidential Regulation Number 44 of 2020 concerning the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil plantation certification system. The formulation of the problem from this research is whether ISPO is in accordance with human rights principles and what is the future conception so that ISPO is more in line with human rights principles. This research is included in normative legal research using a legal and conceptual approach. Based on the research results, it is known that ISPO has complied with several human rights principles, such as universal principles and non-discrimination. ISPO principles and criteria should be adjusted to the capacity of independent smallholders, so that there is equality in efforts to increase oil palm production.

Trainings and seminars in education have spoken much on the advent of Education 4.0 and have advanced to Education 5.0. It implies that education is towards artificial intelligence or machine learning. The digital technology grew fast. Gadget dependence was very evident even to learners. Informal and nonformal education took place on the internet through gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, etc. Influences of social media is high including the young ones and adults, even to professionals. It is projected that the main problem arising is on the attitude, skills and knowledge of teachers adapting advanced digital technology towards the goal of education 5.0. This study explored on attitude, skills, and knowledge KSA model of business resolving the so-called education institution and industry gap. Bloom’s domain of learning and the structured functional theory were applied, leading to the conception of 4C shells of mind, specifically, critical thinking, creative thinking, communication skills and character. Teachers from different legislative districts of province of Cavite served as respondents utilizing survey questionnaire thru google forms. Percentage, base and rate, and ranking principles were used. Descriptive statistics, such measures of central tendency, measures of position and measures of variation were determined and analyzed. Inferential tools such as Z-test, Analysis of Variance, Tukey’s Honestly Significant Difference test, Levene’s test of homogeneity were employed. The results were evaluated using 8 Scale Balanced Value-Agreement Equivalence. The proponents found out that the teachers have a very high positive attitude in adapting digital advancements in terms of sex, age, type of service school and grade level. Attitude was quite affected by lack of knowledge on the advancements on digital technology. Also, the teachers utilized different digital technology in giving activities to their respective learners. Hence, the study recommended more trainings and workshops, face to face or online, for teachers. An additional teacher’s skill, lesson video production, must be developed. This can enhance their critical and creative thinking, communication skills and character. Its development, also, leads to a magazine of lesson “magazsson” production seen to empower the attitude, skills, and knowledge of teachers. In line, a classroom studio “classtudio” must be designed and provided to strengthen the lesson video and production skills and abilities meeting the goal of teaching as a science and art.

This paper presents the observations and reflections of four faculty members who developed experiential online learning pathways for students in diverse professional programs. In relation to programmatic expectations of Nursing, Education and Business, the challenges and opportunities for experiential online learning design are discussed. In addition, the scaffolding and development of online learning within an undergraduate degree, which ladders into professional programing, are presented. Using Kolb’s Experiential Model of learning design to structure the discussion, the faculty members reflect on the success of implementation from their various positions as leaders and instructors of programs. They seek to answer questions for themselves and their faculties in relation to the feasibility of designing experiential learning opportunities online and how this can contribute to deepening professional practice. The paper closes with implications for practice for other post-secondary educators who may be considering experiential online learning.
Notre article présente les observations et les réflexions de quatre enseignants qui ont mis au point des parcours d’apprentissage expérientiel en ligne pour des étudiants inscrits dans divers programmes professionnels. Nous discutons des difficultés et des possibilités de l’apprentissage expérientiel en ligne par rapport aux attentes des programmes de soins infirmiers, d’éducation et de commerce. De plus, nous présentons la construction et l’élaboration de l’apprentissage en ligne dans un programme de premier cycle universitaire qui conduit à l’élaboration de programmes professionnels. En utilisant le modèle expérientiel de conception de l’apprentissage de Kolb pour structurer la discussion, les enseignants réfléchissent aux réussites dans la mise en œuvre de leurs différentes fonctions de chefs de programme et d’instructeurs. Ils se posent des questions – pour leur propre compte et pour les enseignants – sur la faisabilité de la conception d’apprentissages expérientiels en ligne et se demandent comment cela peut contribuer au perfectionnement de leur pratique professionnelle. Nous nous penchons enfin sur les conséquences de notre étude pour la pratique d’autres éducateurs, au niveau postsecondaire, qui envisagent peut-être l’apprentissage expérientiel en ligne.

Cette ligne de séparation correspond certes à une réalité historique, mais dont le tracé et la conception ont varié dans le temps. La même racine Land renvoie aux termes de landgraviat, de Landvogt, de Landweibel… Ces désignations font l’objet d’interrogations et d’exposés qui les présentent comme des éléments intrinsèques à l’histoire de l’Alsace, renvoyant à toute la région ou seulement à une partie de son territoire. Y aurait-il, dans la réalité historique autant que dans l’imaginaire collectif d’érudits, deux Alsaces, celle du Nord et celle du Sud, un patriotisme de la petite patrie régionale et un autre de la patrie locale ?

Pseudoarthrosis is the presentation of false joints or non-union, primarily in long bones. While pseudoarthrosis most often presents as the lack of union between parts of a fractured or broken bone, it is also suspected that pseudoarthrosis results from a congenital disorder of unknown origin. While the etiology is unclear, there is an association with a congenital defect in neurofibromatosis type 1 gene through the neurofibromin protein. This defect occurs during the germ line mutation of conception and is often identified during early childhood. Pseudoarthrosis is more often difficult to detect in adults as it is frequently corrected during childhood. Germ line defects along the neurofibromin protein often result in a lack of communication from the reticular activating system (RAS) molecular signaling, which, in turn, impacts skeletal osteon production. Consequently, osseous lesions may develop and lead to a lack of cellular control over osteoblast signaling in the long bones of the skeleton. Understanding the origins of congenital pseudoarthrosis and its relationship with neurofibromatosis type 1 could lead to a better understanding of both conditions. Understanding these conditions can be useful for interpreting forensic contexts. These contexts include having the histological knowledge of osteology in these diseases for identification purposes. Given that both neurofibromatosis type 1 and pseudoarthrosis are uncommon conditions, their presence may aid forensic practitioners in determining cause of death or identification of the individual. This paper reviews new advances towards understanding the root cause of pseudoarthrosis.

ResumoEste artigo discute os conceitos de imagem e ficção no âmbito da produção de conhecimento em Psicologia Social. A noção de imagem costuma estar associada à tradição platônica que relaciona a produção imagética ao campo da representação, entendendo as imagens como cópias de um suposto modelo original. Tal concepção instaura um procedimento comparativo que qualifica modelos e cópias, dando lugar às classificações que determinam o verdadeiro e o falso. O texto, acompanhando o pensamento de Deleuze e outros autores, problematiza a ideia de imagem como representação e como simulacro, tendo em vista o processo intrínseco de ficcionalização que opera em seu âmago. Diante dessa possibilidade de abordagem epistemológica, são mencionadas a genealogia e a cartografia como proposições metodológicas que não apenas lançam mão da ficção na produção do conhecimento, mas que operam uma certaficcionalização da realidade, dando visibilidade ao que Deleuze chama de fabulação e de potência do falso.Palavras-chave: Imagem; Ficção; Fabulação; Psicologia Social; Epistemologia. AbstractThis article discusses the concepts of image and fiction within the scope of knowledge-production in Social Psychology. The notion of image is usually associated with the Platonic tradition which links imagistic production to the field of representation and understands images as copies of a supposed original model. This conception establishes a comparative procedure which discerns between copies and models, giving rise to classifications that distinguish between the true and the false. The text, in line with the thinking of Gilles Deleuzeand other authors, problematises the idea of image as both representation and as simulacrum by way of the intrinsic process of fictionalization operative at its core. In view of this possible epistemological approach, genealogy and cartography are invoked as methodological propositions that not only use fiction in the production of knowledge, but which participate in a certain fictionalization of reality, giving visibility to what Deleuze calls fabulation and the power of the false.Keywords: Image; Fiction;Fabulation;Social Psychology; Epistemology.

Les mutations vécues présentement dans le domaine de l’accès au savoir invitent les professionnels de l’information à réfléchir à différentes alternatives pour conserver la mission traditionnelle des bibliothèques. Or, au moment où la médiation numérique gagne du terrain dans les bibliothèques, nous voyons une augmentation de la vision ludique des interrelations sur le Web. Maintenant désignée sous le terme de « gamification », cette tendance s’inscrit dans une grande mouvance qui perçoit la bibliothèque comme un terrain de jeux intellectuels où est valorisé l’apprentissage alternatif. C’est dans cette approche qu’au cours des deux dernières années, nous avons conçu plusieurs projets de jeux en ligne pour la médiation numérique. Que ce soit avec des jeux d’accroche, de médiation ou des jeux sérieux, les jeux en ligne sont de puissants outils de motivation pour promouvoir les services et les produits.

Abstract. I argue in this paper that there are certain similarities between Catharine MacKinnon, on the one hand, and Mary Wollstonecraft and Jean Jacques Rousseau, on the other, in the conception of inequality and its origins. All three make two important claims that characterize their accounts of inequality: first, that inequality is not natural, and second, that the differences which are alleged to justify inequality are in fact produced by the inequality. These two claims distinguish one way of arguing for equality. I contrast this with another way of arguing for equality, one which acknowledges natural differences.Résumé. Dans ce texte, je soutiens qu'il y a des similarités entre les conceptions de l'inégalité et de ses origines de Catharine MacKinnon d'une part et de Rousseau et Wollstonecraft d'autre part. Tous trois soutiennent deux thèses importantes qui caractérisent leur conception de l'inégalité : premièrement, l'inégalité n'est pas naturelle; deuxièmement, les différences qui sont invoquées pour justifier l'inégalité sont en fait le produit de cette inégalité. Ces deux positions sont distinctives d'une ligne d'argumentation défendant l'égalité. Je contraste cette ligne d'argumentation avec une seconde façon de défendre l'égalité qui diffère de la première en ce qu'elle reconnaît les différences naturelles.
