This study aims to determine the management of information systems, supporting and inhibiting factors in the acceptance of new students at the Puteri Khadijah Islamic Boarding School Pamekasan. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data obtained from observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that first, in managing the information system for admitting new students at the Islamic boarding school, they planned by forming a committee, determining the opening and closing dates, the conditions that must be met, providing website-based forms, and file deposits and evaluating each process carried out. This has been done directly or in writing, after the entire program has been carried out with the evaluation, of course, to find out what is still lacking from the performance to the new student admissions committee then corrected in the future. Second, the supporting factors are the guidance from the caregivers, the direction from the coaches, and also the cooperation of the New Santri Admission committee, completeness of facilities, and infrastructure. The inhibiting factor is the lack of communication between fellow New Santri Admission committees

ABSTRACT Background The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is designed to inform members of the admissions committee about applicants’ academic readiness for medical school. Although previous work has shown that MCAT scores have some predictive validity evidence for a variety of medical student outcomes, there is also a concern that the MCAT is overly emphasized by admissions committees, which may, for example, affect matriculant diversity. The purpose of this study was to understand whether deemphasizing the MCAT by blinding committee members to applicants’ specific scores has resulted in matriculants with different pre-clerkship and clerkship performance. Method The Admissions Committee from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) created a policy to blind admissions committee members to MCAT scores. The MCAT-blinded policy was implemented for classes of 2022 to 2024. This MCAT-blinded cohort’s performance was compared with a previous cohort, classes of 2018 to 2020. Two analyses of covariance were performed to test for differences in the pre-clerkship and clerkship module scores. Undergraduate grade point average (uGPA) and MCAT percentile for matriculants were included as covariates. Results There were no statistically significant differences in either pre-clerkship or clerkship performance between the MCAT-revealed and MCAT-blinded cohorts. Conclusion This study found similar medical school performance between the MCAT-blinded and MCAT-revealed cohorts. The research team plans to continuously follow these two cohorts to understand their performance further down their education path, including step 1 and step 2 examinations.

This article addresses the responsibility of counseling psychology programs to communicate and implement the professional training values regarding diversity as articulated in the Counseling Psychology Model Training Values Statement Addressing Diversity (henceforth the “Values Statement”) clearly and directly in the advertising and admission process. This will help both applicants and admissions committees assess the best fit between program and applicant and allow for self-selection and committee selection with regard to applicants' aptitude to embody the training values (e.g., self-awareness, openness) specified in the Values Statement. The Values Statement can guide programs in their interview and selection process by providing a framework for assessing applicant readiness to pursue doctoral work in counseling psychology. Current admission practices in counseling psychology are reviewed in the context of the Values Statement. Then a model application review and interview process is described from advertising through selection.

Veterinary admission committees are asked to create and implement a fair, reliable, and valid system to select the candidates most likely to succeed in veterinary school from a large pool of applicants. Although numerous studies have explored grade point average (GPA) as a predictive value of later academic success, there has been little attention paid to how and where an applicant acquires his/her undergraduate coursework. Quality of academic program is an important component of applicant files, and it is suggested that the source of a candidate’s coursework might influence admissions committee decisions, perhaps even outside of the committee’s immediate awareness. Options for undergraduate education include taking classes at a traditional four-year institution, a community college, or online. This study provides an overview of the current state of online courses and community colleges in the US as a foundation to explore the views of veterinary admissions committee members pertaining to coursework completed at traditional residential 4-year schools or at community colleges and whether they are delivered on campus or online (at either type of institution). Survey participants reported a pattern of preference for traditional four-year residential coursework compared to online or community college courses. These results are interesting given the exponential growth of students taking online courses and data showing community colleges are providing a successful gateway to obtaining a four-year degree. This also points to the need for admission committees to discuss potential biases since the information about type of school and/or course may not be consistently available for all applicants. Finally, at a time when admitting a diverse class of students is a goal of many programs, it is of special concern that there are potential biases against courses taken online or from community colleges - venues that tend to draw a more diverse population than traditional 4-year universities.

The New Student Admission Program (PPDB) is an annual program at MTS Miftahul Huda Tegal Sari. Previously, the new student admission process was done manually, requiring physical visits to the school to fill out registration forms and gather information. This was not effective. Therefore, this research has created an online system for new student admissions. Using the waterfall method, data was collected through observations, interviews, and literature studies. The result is a web-based PPDB information system using the CodeIgniter framework, which simplifies the admission process for prospective students and schools. This system is expected to assist the PPDB committee in managing new student data more effectively and efficiently. Information technology-based PPDB has great potential to enhance the management of the student admission process in schools.

Digital transformation is increasingly affecting various areas of higher education. Digital services and tools significantly change the principles of interaction between the admissions committee and the applicant, the teacher and the student, the higher education institution and the regulatory authorities. The process of introducing the super service “Admission to university online”, which began in 2019, was supposed to change the mechanism for submitting applications to universities. It was assumed that applicants would be able to upload the necessary documents to the service and enroll in the selected educational institution without the need for a personal visit. In the future, the super service was supposed to replace traditional forms of filing documents. However, by 2022, the submission of paper documents directly to the university is still the main and most popular mechanism for interaction between the applicant and the admissions committee. This work is a continuation of a study conducted since 2020 at Kazan State Agrarian University, the purpose of which is to identify the main obstacles to the effective use of the superservis “Admission to university online”. The paper presents and compares with last year’s results the data of a newly conducted survey of applicants who visited the university in person. The identified main reasons for refusing to use the digital service are the same, but the share of applicants who used this mechanism for submitting documents to the university is growing. The result of the study was proposals for the university’s admissions committees to more effectively implement digital tools and obtain the necessary competencies when interacting with applicants through superswervis. The proposed activities include the use of educational computer classes to access the super service, online counseling of applicants by university teachers, a chatbot for automatic answers to the most popular questions and the holding of various competitions and quizzes to raise awareness of the possibilities of the super service in social networks and in career guidance work. The authors' proposals should help the admissions committee to increase the level of customer focus and improve the image component of Kazan State Agrarian University.

Dniprovsky State Technical University is located in the city of Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region. It consists of 4 faculties and 18 departments. The total number of students in all forms of education is about 2000 people. Teachers of the university prepare bachelors and masters in full-time and part-time forms of education. Also, admission of applicants is carried out in graduate school and doctoral studies in certain specialties. The introductory company of 2022 in Ukraine was held under martial law, which led to significant changes in the conditions of admission to higher education institutions compared to previous years. Among the main changes are the following: admission using the results of external independent assessment or national multidisciplinary test, creative competition, master's test of educational competence, entrance exams (at the expense of the state budget), as well as motivation letters (at the expense of individuals and / or legal entities), the list of persons of preferential category has been expanded and the possibility of admission is provided based on the results of individual oral interviews in full-time or remote forms. The results of the admission campaign to the Dniprovsky State Technical University for obtaining bachelors and master's degrees are analyzed, shortcomings in the organization and conduct of admission in 2022 are identified. In order to improve the work of the admissions committee and increase the volume of enrollment in the Dniprovsky State Technical University during the following admission campaigns, the following measures can be proposed: support for low-demand specialties from applicants (lower cost of education, encouragement of students), development of a plan for career guidance work for 2023 with the participation of representatives the rector's office, deans, departments, admissions committee and the establishment of control over its implementation, conducting career guidance work in educational institutions and advertising activities in the media, the Internet, conducting preparatory courses in the subjects of the national multidisciplinary test, programs of the master's test of educational competence and in-depth study of a foreign language, as well as open days.

A Thesis submitted to The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine.
Objective: There is a disparity in physician to population ratios between rural and urban Arizona. The University of Arizona Medical School has a unique opportunity to increase the supply of physicians serving in rural Arizona through its admissions process. This study is a quality improvement project which examined whether or not the admission committee members at both the Tucson and Phoenix campuses are considering probability of future rural practice when making admission decisions and if they know the evidence based predictors for rural practice. Methods: The admission committee members from the University of Arizona Medical School were asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding their preferences for future rural practitioners and if they knew the two most accurate predictors for rural practice. Results: There were 22 respondents to the survey- 12 out of 13 from Phoenix and 10 out of 14 from Tucson. Fifty-nine percent (n=13) of the total respondents listed likelihood to practice in a rural community as positively affecting their admission decision, 27 percent (n=6) said it does not affect their decision at all, and 13 percent (n=3) said it affects their decision very positively. All 22 respondents correctly identified rural background as one of the two strongest predictors of rural practice while 11 correctly identified stated interest in family practice as the other. Conclusion: The University of Arizona Medical School admissions committees are well positioned to increase the supply of rural physicians in Arizona. Even still, some of the members of the committee could benefit from education regarding accurate predictors of rural practice.

This research attempted to ascertain whether the ratings of applicants in the admissions-evaluation process of Dallas Theological Seminary (Admission Committee Rating, or ACR) were related to persistence in seminary study sufficiently to allow reasonable prediction of completion based on the strength of the ratings. Five ACRs were examined - the total ACR and its four components, strength of previous academics, personal references, potential and promise for ministry, and previous ministry experience. Other non-admissions factors were also examined to see what relationship they had to persistence. Those factors were years of matriculation, age at matriculation, gender, marital status, ethnicity, nationality, types of previous higher education, whether or not financial aid was received (if known), and the total amount of financial aid received (if known). Persistence in the study was defined as graduation from the seminary's major four-year master's degree program (Th.M.) within the time limits published for the degree. Analysis results indicated that only two of the five ACRs were statistically significant, ministry potential and ministry experience, but the relationship with completion was weak. The conclusion reached was that the relationship between the strength of the admission evaluation and persistence was practically insignificant and contributed little to the ability to predict completion on that basis alone.

AbstractThis chapter examines the distinctive nature of academic integrity in graduate legal education in Canada, a nature rooted in the fact that almost all graduate students in law have practiced law. I consider the general acceptance of the unattributed copying of others’ writing within the legal profession and the judiciary, contrasting that tolerance―even approval―with the unsympathetic reception given the same practices in the academy. I then turn to graduate legal education in common law Canada and the diversity among graduate students in law, including significant differences in their undergraduate legal education. Then, because many of the graduate students who have practiced outside Canada want to be admitted to practice law in Canada, I look at the impact that academic misconduct may have on their ability to be admitted to practice. In order to do so, I review all published Canadian court and tribunal admission decisions that considered academic misconduct committed while in law school. Lastly, in light of unique challenges of graduate legal education, I offer some suggestions for preventing academic misconduct and facilitating students’ engagement with their own scholarship.

Abstract When the committee from Plymouth had purchased the territory of Eastham of the Indians, “it was demanded, who laid claim to Billingsgate?” which was understood to be all that part of the Cape north of what they had purchased. “The answer was, there was not any who owned it. ‘Then,’ said the committee, ‘that land is ours.’ The Indians answered, that it was.” This was a remarkable assertion and admission. The Pilgrims appear to have regarded themselves as Not Any’s representatives. Perhaps this was the first instance of that quiet way of “speaking for” a place not yet occupied, or at least not improved as much as it may be, which their descendants have practised, and are still practising so extensively.

Abstract Nothing revealed more clearly the unreality of Allied reparation demands and the unlikelihood of any effective, or even genuine, German attempt to fulfil them than the .brief history of the London Schedule of Payments. The failure of the creditors to charge interest on the bulk of Germany’s notional obligation of 132 billion marks was a tacit admission of the financial impossibility of their demands; and their refusal to vest adequate powers in the Committee of Guarantees, the sub-committee of the Reparation Commission which was set up to supervise the collection of interest and amortization on the remaining 50 billion gold marks, showed that, despite their Germanophobic posturing, the bourgeois liberal governments of the victors were ultimately unwilling to assert sufficient control over the German economic and financial system to obtain the required transfer of wealth.

This chapter looks at the Committee on Information's second three-year term from 1953 to 1955, which marks the temporal parameters on its previous term from 1950 to 1952. It examines the presidential administration in Washington that signaled stronger US anti-Soviet rhetoric at the United Nations and a more overt effort to use the Committee on Information for propaganda purposes. It also investigates the Cold War's expansion beyond Europe and the first expression of developing world consciousness in the Bandung Conference that brought colonial questions at the United Nations. The chapter covers the initial stirrings of reformist campaigns and the admission of sixteen new UN member-states, which laid the groundwork for a dramatic expansion in the UN role in the nontrust dependent territories. It mentions the US desire to curry favor with the developing world at a time when the focus of the East–West rivalry was shifting from Europe to Africa and the Middle East.

The Scandinavian Neurotrauma Committee (SNC) was initiated by the Scandinavian Neurosurgical Society to improve the care of neurotrauma patients. The SNC has presented evidence-based guidelines for initial management of minimal, mild, and moderate head injuries. Separate guidelines are presented for children and adults. The biomarker S100β‎ is included in the adult guidelines in an attempt to reduce computed tomography (CT) usage and costs. The aim of the guidelines is to guide physicians in the emergency department during initial management of adult and pediatric patients with minimal, mild, and moderate head injuries, specifically to decide which patients are to receive CT scanning, admission, or discharge from the emergency department.

INTRODUCTION In sub-Saharan Africa, over 400,000 children die annually from malaria and other preventable illnesses. Little is known about where these children die, from which causes, and under which circumstances. A better understanding of these factors is crucial to effectively address the remaining burden of preventable childhood diseases and mortality. Rectal artesunate (RAS) is a potentially life-saving pre-referral treatment for children with severe malaria. However, limited evidence is available regarding the operational feasibility of incorporating RAS into the continuum of care for severe malaria, and the unanticipated consequences, like inappropriate use as artemisinin monotherapy or treatment of uncomplicated malaria, this could have on overall case management. METHODS The Community Access to Rectal Artesunate for Malaria (CARAMAL) study accompanied the implementation of RAS as a pre-referral treatment in DRC, Nigeria and Uganda. 8,563 children aged <5 years with severe febrile illnesses were detected and enrolled at primary care level, and 6,348 at referral health facilities. The children were followed up during admission and after 28 days to assess healthcare-seeking patterns, RAS use and acceptance, anti-malarial treatment received at the various points of contact with the health system, and health outcomes at day 28. ETHICS This study was approved by the World Health Organization’s Research Ethics Review Committee; the University of Kinshasa School of Public Health Ethics Committee; the Health Research Ethics Committee of the Adamawa State Ministry of Health and the National Health Research Ethics Committee, Nigeria; the Research and Ethics Committee of the Makerere University School of Public Health and the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology; and CHAI’s Scientific and Ethical Review Committee. RESULTS Post-RAS introduction, RAS was administered to 88% of eligible patients in DRC, 52% in Nigeria, and 70% in Uganda. We followed up 93% of enrolled children (13,870/14,911) 28 days after enrolment at home to determine status and healthcare trajectory. After roll-out, RAS users were less likely to complete referral than RAS non-users in the pre-roll-out phase in DRC (adjusted odds ratio, aOR: 0.48) and Uganda (aOR: 0.72). Postreferral treatment with parenteral artesunate was high (above 80%), but the administration of a full course of artemisinin-based combination therapy to complete treatment as per WHO guidelines was variable (from virtually zero in Nigeria to 65% in DRC). Hence, many children were in fact treated with artemisinin monotherapy. Case fatality rates (CFR) varied largely by country and place of initial presentation (range: 0.3% to 15%). RAS was associated with reduced likelihood of being dead or sick on day 28 only in Uganda (aOR: 0.61, p<0.05) where overall CFR was lowest. No protective effect was found in DRC and Nigeria. Most children were considered healthy on day 28, but over 60% had detectable malaria antigenaemia. CONCLUSION For RAS to be an effective pre-referral treatment for children with severe malaria in hard-to-reach locations, underlying health system factors need to be addressed to ensure a functional continuum of care.
