This paper promotes a concept of a museum collection management and the related policy by which it is expressed. Collecting and deaccessioning (as essential activities of collections development), loans and accessibility - in international and Croatian museum practice - are also analyzed. In the end, the paper advocates the establishment of a national association of museums that could serve, together with other support points, a purpose of a professional gathering around topics on collection management.

The collection development and management literature from 2011 and 2012 explores how libraries are making difficult collection choices with decreasing funds, competing needs for space, and a continually developing e-market. Digital content is no longer new in collection management, but some of the ways the content is chosen have changed; collection-building activities now include various models of patron-driven demand acquisitions. Other literature in this area examines how libraries are addressing their print and electronic collections with topics including open access materials, shared collection building, and weeding collections for repurposed space.

Vicki L. Gregory is a well-known academic who has written seven other books describing librarianship and electronic and web resources. This review pertains to the second edition of her 2011 landmark textbook, Collection Development and Management for 21st Century Library Collections, which had been in good company with Peggy Johnson’s Fundamentals of Collection Development and Management and Maggie Fieldhouse and Audrey Marshall’s Collection Development in the Digital Age. Providing a thorough introduction on the management and future of library collections, this text offers practical tools and invaluable advice. The content is geared toward students of information science who are new to collection maintenance and collection development. However, this book would also be beneficial for all levels of practitioners. Gregory clearly describes the useful collection development and maintenance processes that all librarians, whether in the collection manager role or not, would find invaluable.

Background of the study: Local Content is an important collection owned by the library as a source of information about local entities for users. Purpose: This study aims to find out how collection management is carried out by the Library and Archives Service of Bengkulu Province on local content collections and what efforts have been made toward cultural preservation, especially on local content collections. Method: This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this study used observation and interview technique. Findings: Based on data sourced from interviews with deposit service librarians, namely the Library and Archives Service of Bengkulu Province, they have managed local content collection well in procurement, processing, and storage. However, there needs to be an evaluation to develop the procurement of local content collections due to the relatively long flow of collection procurement. Conclusion: The Library and Archives of Bengkulu Province has carried out activities in order to maintain the preservation of collections and in managing deposit collections including, collecting, managing, and preserving.

The DINA Symposium (“DIgital information system for NAtural history data”, https://dina-project.net) ends with a plenary session involving the audience to discuss the interplay of collection management and software tools. The discussion will touch different areas and issues such as: (1) Collection management using modern technology: How should and could collections be managed using current technology – What is the ultimate objective of using a new collection management system? How should traditional management processes be changed? (2) Development and community Why are there so many collection management systems? Why is it so difficult to create one system that fits everyone’s requirements? How could the community of developers and collection staff be built around DINA project in the future? (3) Features and tools How to identify needs that are common to all collections? What are the new tools and technologies that could facilitate collection management? How could those tools be implemented as DINA compliant services? (4) Data What data must be captured about collections and specimens? What criteria need to be applied in order to distinguish essential and “nice-to-have” information? How should established data standards (e.g. Darwin Core & ABCD (Access to Biological Collection Data)) be used to share data from rich and diverse data models? In addition to the plenary discussion around these questions, we will agree on a streamlined format for continuing the discussion in order to write a white paper on these questions. The results and outcome of the session will constitute the basis of the paper and will be subsequently refined.

Theological libraries exist in a changing educational environment. New technologies impact how library services and library resources are managed and provided for students and faculty. This essay describes the formation of the 2015 collection management policy for the libraries of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a multi-campus graduate school that trains students for service in congregations, religious organizations and ministries, and in mental health practice. The article suggests that collection management policy development must be collaborative and align with the mission, degree programs, and courses offered by the school. Moreover, it must serve all students--those in residence, those who commute to campus, and those who study through distance courses and programs. Library directors must engage their library professionals, faculty, students, and senior administrators.

Waste management is necessary in today's world because, with the growing population, waste generated by the human is also increasing. Million Tons of waste is being produced by the people all over the world every day. If waste is not properly disposed off, it may lead to huge health issues and it may have adverse effects on our environment also. Among all, waste collection and transportation are one of the costliest stages in solid waste management. As the truck driver must go to each bin every single day and check whether the bin is full or not. If the bin is not full, it is not only waste of time but also wastes of fuel for truck and it also increases pollution due to smoke released from trucks, needs more men for checking all the bins in different routes. In this paper, we are going to propose a smart solution for this problem using the Internet of Things. We use an ultrasonic sensor to measure the size of the bin, and raspberry pi to process the information further. This sensor data will be sent to the cloud using Wi-Fi module of raspberry pi, from the cloud the data is sent to android app. When the trash inside the bin crosses the certain threshold level, that bin and its location are shown in the App using google maps, and the current location of the truck driver is detected, and shortest path is shown. By this the garbage bins can be emptied before the dustbin overflow.
