Abstract: This thesis aims to provide a critical biobibliography of the "paulista" poet Péricles Eugênio da Silva Ramos (1919-1992), from a globalizing point of view hitherto not fully realized by specialized critics. This work includes his own poetic work (with five books of poetry), as well as his facets of translator and literary critic. The books, unpublished texts and manuscripts contained in the "Pericles Eugênio da Silva Ramos Collection", which is now under the custody of UNIFATEA, in Lorena-SP, the poet's home, are used for its accomplishment. the analysis and interpretation of his work. In this bibliographic context, the research serves as a methodological apparatus of the genetic critique of authors such as Eneida Maria de Souza, Louis Hay and Philippe Willemart. In the treatment of poetry and the translations of Péricles Eugênio da Silva Ramos, one begins with the theoretical reflections of the author on the traditional metric, on the rhythm in modern poetry and on questions of translation, also bringing to the analysis contributions of consecrated metricists such as Chociay and Said Ali, as well as translation ideas from authors like Paulo Rónai, Sebastião Uchoa Leite and Haroldo de Campos. The critical approach of the work sought to demonstrate how the form and content are delineated both in the different phases of his authorial production and in the translations of the poet, as well as seeks to investigate the reflexes of his literary erudition in his work, as well as hi... As a result, formation of Hydroxy Methyl Furfural (HMF), decrease in enzymatic activity, color deterioration, decrease in viscosity and many other structural changes are observed. HMF is produced as a result of Maillard reaction and/or hexose dehydration -which is undesirable-, practically, it is found in fresh honey in low levels, and increases due to heat treatment, storage temperature, pH (acidity) and sugar concentration of honey. HMF level and diastase number are important quality parameters and shelf life indicators of honey. Alternatives of v heat treatment may be the use of ultrasound and high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) to decrease viscosity, liquefy honey and thus minimise adverse affects of heat treatment. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of HHP (220-330 MPa, 50-60°
C, time) and ultrasound (24 kHz) on liquefaction and quality parameters (HMF, diastase number, color and viscosity) of different honey varieties (sunflower, cotton and canola) and to compare the changes with heat treated (50°
C and 60°
C, time) and untreated honey. Based on the results of the chemical and physical analysis, for HHP treatment the best treatment combination was determined as 220 MPa, 50°
C, 106 min. For ultrasound treatment the best treatment combinations were determined as 7 mm probe- 0.5 cycle (batch) applications. On this basis the study points out that Ultrasound and HHP can be suggested as alternative methods to traditional thermal treatment for the liquefaction of honey crystals. When compared to thermal treatment, Ultrasound is advantageous in shorter application times, slight changes in quality parameters and ease in operation. HHP treatment is also an alternative method with shorter application times and lower HMF values.

Texto completo da fontemrah July 2005, 245 pages CO2 is one of the hazardous greenhouse gases causing significant changes in the environment. The sequestering CO2 in a suitable geological medium can be a feasible method to avoid the negative effects of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. CO2 sequestration is the capture of, separation, and long-term storage of CO2 in underground geological environments. A case study was simulated regarding the CO2 sequestration in a deep saline aquifer. The compositional numerical model (GEM) of the CMG software was used to study the ability of the selected aquifer to accept and retain the large quantities of injected CO2 at supercritical state for long periods of time (200 years). A field-scale model with two injectors and six water producers and a single-well aquifer model cases were studied. In a single-well aquifer model, the effects of parameters such as vertical to horizontal permeability ratio, aquifer pressure, injection rate, and salinity on the sequestration process were examined and the sensitivity analyses were performed after simulating the field-scale model. The supercritical CO2, one-state fluid which exhibits both gas and liquid-like properties, and gaseous CO2 were sequestered in the forms of free CO2 bubble, dissolved CO2 in brine and precipitated CO2 with calcite mineral in a deep saline aquifer. The isothermal condition was assumed during injection and sequestration processes. The change in porosity and permeability values that might have occurred due to mineralization and CO2 adsorption on rock were not considered in this study. Vertical to horizontal permeability ratio and initial pressure conditions were the most dominating parameters affecting the CO2 saturation in each layer of the aquifer whereas CO2 injection rate influenced CO2 saturation in middle and bottom layers since CO2 was injected through bottom layer.

This development is displayed by three levels and at the heighest level an individual can go beyond the expectations of society with principles of justice and respect for basic human rights and dignity. However, although the characters in Eliot'

. Industrial and product designers are invited to use the findings of the thesis to assist in developing a common smart materials language and culture, enriched by details, technicalities, opportunities, and creative and innovative material attributes. The study commences with the creation of a concise and compact reservoir of technical knowledge on smart materials and critically contrasts two established systems of classification for smart materials. Then, the subject of materials information appropriate to industrial design is discussed, highlighting channels through which smart materials information may be communicated at an optimum level so as to be amenable to exploitation by industrial designers. A sectoral analysis of smart materials use follows, including the presentation of factors that may hinder their more extensive exploitation in major industrial sectors. v The thesis concludes that smart materials have potential to initiate a breakthrough in the materials universe, and that industrial designers have a role in promoting smart materials knowledge, the capabilities of smart materials, and their innovation possibilities. It is recomended that since smart materials are a new generation of materials quite different from the conventional, they be promoted carefully through the proposed Information Hierarchy.

Texto completo da fontek, Muhammet Sancar M. of Arch., Department of Architecture Supervisor of the thesis: Prof. Dr. Vacit Imamoglu April 2011, 156 Pages Starting from the second half of the 20th century, the number of aged people and people with aging-related disabilities has increased significantly in the world. Parallel to this increase, special projects have been developed for aged people in the developed countries, but with these projects aged people were often excluded from society. People with disabilities were already living isolated from society. With the effect of raising awareness in the public after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, in the course of the last sixty years studies have been realized and new standards and principles have been developed for elderly people and people with disabilities to benefit from the social life equally together with everyone and to raise their quality of life. Starting with the barrier-free design approach, a new period improving and changing the view point of design from general and private design to design for all, to inclusive and/or the universal design has begun. In the thesis, this period has been reviewed through the summarized definitions of these stages. The effects of these improvements have been related to the design and construction of the built environments and buildings. Therefore, people with disabilities started to participate in the society more than ever. The implementation of principles of the Universal Design in the public buildings, especially to hospitals, cultural centers and shopping centers has gained more importance in order to advance full social integration of people with disabilities to the society. Number of shopping centers in Turkey increased rapidly after 1995. In this thesis, two examples were examined and evaluated in the light of universal design principles. The problems faced in these buildings were examined in order to design more inclusive buildings and environments. A brief history of shopping centers was presented. Brief information about some examples of old bazaars from Anatolia and shopping centers from different countries were given.

This dissertation is focused on studies of contact zones and the cultural meetings between native Brazilian people and Jesuits missionaries in Portuguese America, dated by sixteenth century. For noticing the stress and conflicts, we choose analyses some letters written by priest Jose de Anchietain reference to the missionary activities in the cities of Sao Vicente and Piratininga (1554 1570). Based on an interdisciplinary premise, in cooperation with Anthropology and History references about the theme, the proposal of our analysis is identifying references in the missionary letters which allow us to think how native Brazilian people were instructed about religion and how they resisted to the new culture that they were being forced to, as well as the challenges and possible contradictions shown in the Colonizer’s praxis. We intend, this way, contribute to the knowledge expansion about the introduction of the Catholicism in Brazil by sixteenth century, in the context of Science of Religion

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis contains 63 published papers, reviews and book chapters, and 18 U.S. and Australian patents, which constitute the major part of my work for the period 1977-2011. These works encompass contributions in four major areas of organic chemistry: 1) physical organic chemistry and applied organic chemistry, consisting of 13 published works during the period 1977-1998; 2) synthetic organic chemistry, natural products chemistry, and medicinal chemistry, consisting of 27 published works during the period 1979-2010; 3) the pedagogy and history of chemistry, consisting of 13 works during the period 1994-2011; and 4) laser tissue welding and photo-biological applications of organic chemistry, consisting of 9 published works during the period 1993-1998. The patents cover two major areas: 1) 10 patents granted during the period 1993-2009, describing the applications of 4-amino-l,8-naphthalimide derivatives in analysis, photo-biology and medicine; and 2) 8 patents granted during the period 2002-2008, describing the preparation and uses of acidbased antimicrobial materials. The works presented in physical organic chemistry include a highly cited book chapter, and a computer program for the calculation of isotope effects, based on a simple valence force field. Despite advances in both computer speed and memory size, this program has been used to model transition states in enzymatic reactions for over three decades; today, those models are then used as input into more sophisticated computations. Synthetic organic chemistry has been the major part of my independent career, and comprises the major part of my works. The works presented have been cited an average of 6 times each (excluding self-citations), with approximately half being cited 10 or more times. My initial work was in the synthesis of polycyclopentanoid compounds, which led to the discovery of a useful intramolecular cyclization of epoxypropiolate esters with Lipshutz "higher order" cuprate reagents. In the 1990s, I began a collaboration that led to the first synthesis of the 3-bromo-4-alkylamino-N-alkyl-l,8-naphthalimides and showed their potential as photochemically-activated antiviral compounds; hydrophilic versions are used in laser tissue welding. The latter dyes are now in Phase I human trials. Our most recent work has a new focus on the development of new oral anticoagulants; our first paper is part of this submission. My work in the History of Chemistry has resulted in 9 published papers and one book chapter. In my 1994 papers on the rise of chemistry at Kazan; University, in Russia, I coined the phrase, "cradle of Russian organic chemistry." This phrase has been adopted by Kazan' State University as an unofficial slogan, is used on their official web site, and appears in their publications. The 1994 papers have been scanned posted on the Kazan' State University web site. My work in pedagogy has led to 5 publications in the Journal of Chemical Education, one of which has been cited 16 times since its publication.

Li Shangyin has been regarded as a representative of aesthetic literature since ancient times. His works have an important position of taking the previous and opening up the later generations in literary styles. However, later studies on literary works are more conducive to the scope of his poetry. People have a lot of comments on his writing. The negative evaluation mainly focuses on its numerous stacks of allusions. Of course it is a bias that occurs only when the essence of his works is not properly and appropriately probed. Therefore, this study uses an objective perspective to analyze the existing texts of Li Shangyin’s works and the relevant materials by means of "literature research" and "historical research". In addition, from the genre, content and thought, form, and method of analysis, especially focusing on his external form of writing skills and ideological connotations. For writing skills, duality, use, resignation, and rhythm are included. The ideological connotation includes Li Shangyin's perspectives on literature, politics, and religion. In addition, the classification of the "law of order", "law of change", "law of communication, "law of unification" in the rules and syntax, and the classification direction of "expression function" and "single sentence structure", are taken into consideration, hoping to present the richness both in the lay out and thoughts in his writing. In addition, Li Shangyin's influence on later generations comes down to the value of historiography, literature, practicality, aesthetics and other fields. The relevant evaluations are dialectically based on this study, and it proves that Fan Nanwen has the position of template in practical writing.

The revolution and evolution of literary forms is of paramount importance to the study of the Gu-wen (Ancient Prose) Movement during Dynasty Tang. One of the ways to observe such changes and following impact, is to analyses the literary works, and the compilation of literary collections by gu-wen writers, to compare the similarities and differences of the view on literary forms of gu-wen during Middle and Late Tang Dynasty. Tang literature uses literary form to determine a work’s placement in literary collections. Intact literary collections from the period are already rare indeed, however collections which are strongly affiliated with the Gu-wen Movement make up the majority of the surviving collections. The major ones being Dugu Ji’s Collected Works of Pi-ling, Han Yu’s Collected Works of Master Chang-li, and Du Mu’s Collected Works of Fan-chuan. Of these three, the one that has been given the most attention for its association with the Ancient Prose Movement is doubtless Han Yu, a principle proponent and progenitor of the movement. Those collections connected with the Gu-wen Movement are most important when examining the changing concept of literary form via the changing principles of collection arrangement. Due to Han Yu’s diligent attempts to break the mold of literary form, he is of signal importance. Dugu Ji was a pioneer in literature looking to Han Yu for inspiration. Though Du Mu was not Han Yu’s disciple, he promoted Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan’s works, and became one of the remarkable Gu-wen writers in the Late Tang period. Both of them respectively belong to the period before and after Han Yu, their representative value is undoubted. The collection assembled by Li Han the Collected Works of Master Chang-li is of central importance; after this comes Liang Shu’s Collected Works of Pi-ling and finally Pei Yanhan’s Collected Works of Fan-chuan. The view of these three authors and these three editors toward literary form, both in points differing and resembling, can serve be used to observe the former, middle, and later periods of literary collections. This thesis places greatest emphasis on the views of the three original authors and then uses the viewpoints of the collection editors for reference in order to better explain the process of change that occurred in the Gu-wen Movement- as well as examine Han Yu’s contribution to and influence on the Gu-wen Movement. Dugu Ji’s literary works most often adhere to the rules of literary genre. His epitaphs such as ‘Epitaph of the Junior Chamberlain of the Grand Court of Revision and Censor of Tang, Master Du gu from Henan’ adhere to the rules for the genre, individually and in the established order listing the subject’s name, family, and life events. His gift prefaces, for instance, the ‘Preface presented to Li Bai departing for Cao-nan’ are filled with a passionate style but are still in keeping with the demands of genre laid down in previous generations; it has no major deviations from established form. His prefaces for literary collections such as the ‘Preface of Collected Works of the Deputy Rectifier of Tang, Huangfu Ran’ emphasizes the principles of the Gu-wen Prose Movement and did not deviate from literary tradition. Liang Shu was Dugu Ji’s student who compiled the Collected Works of Pi-ling after his death. The arrangement of literary forms in this collection is clear and organized; the order of the collection is rational and shows the influence of Zhao Ming Selected Works, placing rhapsodies and poetry first followed by essays. Every section is divided into first public then private works and first those works regarding the temporal world followed by those works about death. The section for every literary form is chronologically ordered. Several sections are additionally ordered by the elegance or vulgarity of the content, as well as the principles of base position or high position, close or distant relationships, etc. The sections thus tend to be ordered internally by content and then by year. At the same time Liang Shu also considered the author during the editing process. Liang made certain modifications to the ordering that adhere to Dugu Ji’s ideal principles on gu-wen writing. Han Yu was not constrained by traditional standards of writings. He managed to grasp the essence of the changes and development of literature, so as to the basis of his innovative reform movement. Han Yu’s ‘za-zhu’ (雜著), such as ‘The Five Discourses’ (五原), ‘Miscellaneous Talk’ (雜說), ‘Epilogue of the Bibliography of the vice censor-in-chief, Zhang Xun’ (張中丞傳後敘), and ‘Account of a Painting’ (畫記) are examples of his genre-breaking works. He has been accused of “making literature a game”, “filling his works with fluff and not substance”- but this only highlights the history-making nature of his ideal literary standard. His deconstruction of form to create literature can be seen as a sort of literary game, as an experiment in breaking old forms in traditions. This way of writing certainly attacked the traditional Tang understanding of literary form and its purpose- and Li Han’s understanding of literature reflects this. Li Han was the son-in-law of Han Yu’s eldest daughter. He compiled a collection for the Han Yu works, while his way of going about it was appropriately unique. Although Li Han also followed the accepted pattern of rhapsody, poetry, and composition, it’s also obvious from his organization that his concept of literary form was already quite different from Liang Shu’s. He put all the unique ancient prose, ‘za-zhu’ written by Han Yu and placed it after rhapsodies and poetry at the head of the composition section. This sort of organization in a literary collection was unheard of and far-reaching in its consequences. His wild and unclear organization of sections and the material organized into each section was the subject of much debate by scholars for years after. Many believed that though he was Han Yu’s student he did not understand the true nature of Han Yu’s gu-wen and this was the cause of such reckless organization. This is reflective of the change in thinking that Han Yu’s Gu-wen Movement caused in literary forms. Li Han’s view of literary forms had already loosened and caused began to cause him difficulty in determining into which category each work should be sorted. As scion of a noble house, Du Mu was a Confucian master, skilled in the military theories, an accomplished poet. He set out to be the glory of his house and the reformer of his nation. His admiration for Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan’s literary style influenced his literary style. His work with ancient prose literary forms spanned numerous genres, many of which were similar to the ones that Han Yu had worked in, for instances, ‘Record of a General in Yen’ (燕將錄), ‘Bibliography of Lady Dou’ (竇烈女傳), and ‘Preface of Sun Tzu with Annotations’ (注孫子序 ). Many of his works like ‘Discourse on the Imperial Guards’(原十六衛) and ‘Argument on Face Reading’ (論相) can be seen as literary form breaking, but his focus was not on deconstructing the forms and neither was it on literature as a game. But compared with Dugu Ji, who was previous to Han Yu, his concept of literary form is already greatly loosened. Pei Yanhan was Du Mu’s nephew and was asked by Du Mu to compile his literary works. The result of Pei’s labor was the Collected Works of Fan-chuan. Compared with Li Han, Pei’s ordering is quite tidy. The traditional system of rhapsodies and poetry followed by composition is followed in Du Mu’s collection. The editor tends to follow accepted practice as well using the social status and kin relationships of the recipients of each work to determine its placement in the collection- and of course finally putting this system into chronological order. The Collected Works by Fan-chuan also has another important point. Du Mu once burned his manuscripts which he considered extraneous, which implies his remaining works are much more representative of his literary views than they would otherwise be. However, Du Mu’s editor placed all those works which defied classification at the head of the collection- a move similar to Li Han’s, and this also shows that Pei Yan-han was well aware of both the classic concept and gu-wen concept of literary form and knew how to strike a balance between them in the ordering of Du Mu’s literary collection. By comparing and contrasting these three collections- their editors and authors- we can understand the values of the ancient prose movement and its aesthetic system more clearly. This comparison furthermore provides an invaluable chance to see the true extent of Han Yu’s influence on the Tang dynasty concept of literary forms.
