Abstract The year of 2020 has been overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Medical workers throughout China have played critical roles in battling severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and saving lives. The whole of society has now fully realized the significance of medical workers and many began to think about medical education in China: How can we further improve medical education for the next generation of clinicians, medical scientists, nurses, public-health workers and administrators related to medical care, so that they are well prepared to meet societal needs for medical care in the ever-changing world? In this panel discussion, medical-education experts from several prominent medical schools in China gathered to discuss the reform and future development of China's medical education. <p>成都（今中國四川省成都市）大聖慈寺，是在安史之亂時由唐玄宗（685-762, 712-756在位）支持興建，其後逐漸發展為西南第一大寺。受命擘畫該寺規制者，則為一新羅入唐僧人無相（684-762）。無相是唐代禪宗傳承的重要人物，然其與大聖慈寺建立的關係，迄今仍未受到足夠重視。本文將考察無相在中國佛教文獻中的感通形象，及新羅佛教影響，與玄宗護國祈願等因素，如何使無相獲得建立大聖慈寺規制的機會，從而審視中古時期寺院的形成，以及王權與佛教的關係。</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><p>The monastery Dashengcisi 大聖慈寺 was built with Tang Emperor Xuan-zong 唐玄宗 (685-762, r. 712-756) support in Chengdu during the rebellion of An Lu-shan 安祿山 (703-757, r. 756-757) and became the largest monastery in southern-west China. The Silla monk Wu-xiang 無相 (684-762) stimulated the rules of the the monastery Dashengcisi and of crucial to the Ch&rsquo;an Sect 禪宗 in Tang. This article discusses how images of using thaumaturgic powers, the influence of Silla Buddhism and Xuan-zong&rsquo;s pray for protecting the country made Wu-xiang stimulator of rules of this monastery. Through this investigation, I will examine how monastery built and relation between kingship and Buddhism in medieval China.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Major findings of a project, Investigating The Markets Of Denim Wear In Hong Kong And China, sponsored by Institute of Textiles and Clothing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, are discussed. The project was conducted in Hong Kong and six other major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Harbin, Xi'an and Chengdu. Total sample size was 3,623. Three aspects of denim wear consumption were investigated and are discussed in the paper: dressing habit of Chinese consumers in denim wear, their consumption pattern, and brand awareness. Based on the findings, marketing implications are discussed as well. This information should be of use to manufacturers and retailers of denim wear and denim products for more effective marketing.

Zhengzhou, along with Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing and Wuhan, is one of the most important cities in inland China. It is the second largest city in central China, after Wuhan. It is the economic center of the province and the surrounding areas such as southeastern Shanxi and southwestern Shandong. The main purpose of this study is to learn the effect of Zhengzhou industrial tourism on Zhengzhou economic models as well as the deep changing of Zhengzhou’s economic model. The result shows that the relationship between industrial tourism and Zhengzhou’s economic is significant. The findings can suggest that developing industrial tourism in Zhengzhou influences on Zhengzhou’s economy positively.

Combined system of radiant cooling and dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) has advantage in energy-saving and thermal comfort. In order to investigate the energy saving potential of the system under different climate conditions in China, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Xi’an were selected, where summer energy consumption of the combined system and fan coil + fresh air system in reference building was calculated with BIN method respectively. The results show that radiant cooling system has better performance in energy saving than fan coil system by saving of 12-16%. The system operation time and outdoor climate are main factors influencing energy saving effect.

Today, the world is witnessing an enormous new economic wave, which has become an important and growing contributor to economic development. However, few studies compare the overall development of all new economic sectors in different cities or countries. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to contribute to the literature on the 21st century new economy in China, which is viewed as a crucial development direction. Accordingly, the new economic situation in 2018 in 15 major cities of China is evaluated by constructing an index system and adopting some new big-data technologies, whereby a new economy comprehensive index (NECI) for each city is obtained. This study finds that the cities ranked from high to low in the NECI are Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Nanjing, Chongqing, Suzhou, Zhengzhou, Wuxi, Tianjin, Qingdao, and Xi’an. Among them, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen belong to the first hierarchy. The findings provide a nuanced perspective on the intercity comparison of the new economy, and the index system presented in the study is urgently-needed for policy makers. Finally, based on the case study of Chengdu the study offers rich insights to city administrators in terms of how to promote the new economy.

Abstract Electronic-hailing (e-hailing) has experienced explosive growth in China. The Chinese government’s e-hailing policies illustrate its central–regional policy mix. This study analyzes e-hailing policies in four Chinese cities—Xi’an, Chengdu, Beijing, and Guangzhou—and compares these policies with goals in four policy areas. We show that local Chinese governments’ attitudes toward e-hailing are varied, contradictory, and in some cases even not in accordance with central government policies. Our insights demonstrate the limited generalizability of the policymaking experiments we studied. It would be difficult to infer broad policy implications from the experience any of the four cities has had with e-hailing, because China’s regionally decentralized innovation system and policy experiment process address the unique needs and contexts of regional governments on a case-by-case basis.

The International Symposium on Domain Theory (ISDT) is a conference series intended to be a forum for researchers in domain theory and its applications. Topics include topological and logical aspects of domains; categories of domains and powerdomains; continuous posets and their representations; partial orders, lattice theory and metric spaces; types, process algebra and concurrency; non-classical and partial logics; programming language semantics; applications in computer science and mathematics. This conference series was founded by Yingming Liu, Yixiang Chen, Klaus Keimel, and Guo-Qiang Zhang. All ISDT events have taken place in China. The first ISDT was held in Shanghai, October 17–24, 1999; the second ISDT was held in Chengdu, October 22–26, 2001; the third ISDT occurred in Xi'an, China, May 10–14, 2004; the fourth ISDT was held in Changsha, June 2–6, 2006; and the fifth ISDT took place in Shanghai, September 11–14, 2009.

The use of increasingly popularized information technology to improve education poverty and then promote the balanced development of education has become the development trend of world education. On the road to poverty alleviation, China has firmly grasped information technology to encourage school reform in areas with scarce educational resources. Among them, “Triple Classroom” was the accurate result of the deep integration of education, teaching, and information technology. Driven by the “Triple Classroom” project, the Shi Shi Middle School in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, built the online open course with the “Shi Shi Xiang Yun (SSXY)” online school as a platform. Thus, they send high-quality educational resources to areas with scarce educational resources and effectively promote education quality improvement in marginal areas.

近年來，香港有不少國際學校和直資學校開辦國際文憑課程（IB，International Baccalaureate），很多非華語學生選擇學習中文作為第二語言。然而，當中很多學生在使用詞彙上產生偏誤，而在二零零八年，香港教育局發布了《中國語文課程補充指引（非華語學生）》諮詢文件中，指出漢字的字形、聲調、語彙都是中文第二語言學習者的難點（香港課程發展議會，2008），這些難點均涉及語素。以往曾有不少研究，探討語素意識與詞彙知識習得的關係，因此，研究者期望以中文第二語言學習者作為研究對象，探討漢語語素意識與詞彙能力的關係。 本研究為量性研究，以語素意識與詞彙能力測驗和單元評估試卷來蒐集數據，並採用相關度測量研究方法分析數據，從而探討國際文憑課程中學項目學生在詞彙上的偏誤類型以及漢語語素意識與詞彙能力的關係，並提出建議以提升中文第二語言學習者的詞彙能力。本研究目的有三：（一）探究香港國際文憑課程中學項目學生在詞彙上的偏誤類型；（二）探究香港國際文憑課程中學項目學生的漢語語素意識與詞彙能力的關係；（三）歸納研究結果，並就教學和後續研究上提出具體建議，作為對外漢語教學之參考。 研究結果顯示，中文第二語言學習者的詞彙偏誤類型以「語音」為主，發展同音語素意識對於減少詞彙偏誤相當重要，此外亦需要加強發展部件規則的意識以及組字規則的概念，幫助他們掌握字形，對於減少詞彙偏誤亦有相當重要的作用。在漢語語素意識與詞彙能力的關係方面，中文第二語言學習者的語素意識對於詞彙能力有預測作用，同音語素意識對詞彙能力的預測作用大於同形語素意識的作用；而心理詞彙的語素意識、心理詞彙的數量及用詞能力三者有互相影響的關係，但仍需要進一步的研究。 International Baccalaureate (IB) Curriculum is adopted by more and more international schools and direct-subsidy schools in Hong Kong. At the same time, more and more non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students choose to study Chinese Language as a second language in IB curriculum. However, the vocabulary learning is one of the difficulties when they learn Chinese. The Education Bureau has published ‘Consultation Paper on Developing a “Supplementary Guide to the Chinese Language Curriculum for Non-Chinese Speaking Students” ’ and points out those NCS students encounter difficulties in learning Chinese graphemes, tones, vocabulary, etc. These difficulties are related to morpheme. Many researchers have conducted to study on relationship between morphological awareness and lexical knowledge. This dissertation aims to study on the relationship between morphological awareness and lexical ability of IB Middle Year Programme (MYP) students in Hong Kong. This is a quantitative research. Data collection includes two tests of the morphological awareness and lexical ability paper-pencil tests and one summative unit test of Chinese Language subject in a school. IB MYP students of two classes participated in this study and their morphological awareness and lexical ability were tested and analyzed by the statistical analysis software. The objectives of the study are: (1) Analysis on the types of lexicon errors of IB MYP students in Hong Kong; (2) Analysis on the relationship between morphological awareness and lexical ability of IB MYP students in Hong Kong; (3) Suggestions on developing of morphological awareness in learning Chinese Language as a second language. The results find that most of the lexicon errors were related to the tones and radical components of Chinese character, it is suggested to develop the homophone awareness and the orthographic awareness of Chinese character to reduce the lexicon errors. The morphological awareness of students has influence on student’s lexical ability. The homophone awareness has a closer relationship with lexical ability. The morphological awareness of the mental lexicon has an influence on the amount of mental lexicon and the ability of using lexicon. It is suggested to develop the morphological awareness of students in teaching Chinese as a second language to further study the relationship between the development of morphological awareness and mental lexicon in the future.

This study focuses on the effectiveness of schema theories to improve the ability of classical Chinese reading comprehension of Hong Kong secondary three students. A classical Chinese reading course is therefore setup to demonstrate the Chinese cultural schema (hereinafter referred to as “the course”). The result will be discussed below. Quasi-experimental research method is used in this study. Students are divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. They are compared in pre-test and post-test to evaluate the effectiveness of the course. In addition, individual interviews and questionnaires are conducted both before and after the course of Chinese cultural schema to experimental group in order to learn more their opinions in Chinese culture, reading classical Chinese and the course. It is shown that both “basic reading comprehension ability” (“understanding of basic / surface meaning”) and “advanced reading comprehension ability” (“understanding of implicit meaning”) are improved, in which “advanced reading comprehension ability” is ameliorated particularly. For the ability of “constructing new knowledge and personal views”, however, the improvement is not outstanding enough. It is also found that students are more interested in Chinese culture and reading classical Chinese after the course. The result of Chinese cultural schema takes time to reflect. Teachers are encouraged to help students by revision and link up to previous schemas. Once students’ knowledge is reinforced, there will be a fundamental change in their way of thinking. It enhances the course’s effectiveness and makes it more long-lasting. 本研究旨在應用圖式理論，設計一個以建構中國文化圖式為主的文言文閱讀課程(下稱：「中國文化圖式課程」)，藉以探討該類課程對提升香港中三學生文言文閱讀能力的成效。 研究主要運用準實驗研究的方法，透過比對實驗組學生和對照組學生前、後測的成績，藉以評定中國文化圖式課程的成效。此外，為進一步了解學生對中國文化、古典作品，以及是次實驗課程的看法，研究員亦於實驗前、後，向實驗組學生各進行了一次訪談及問卷調查。 研究結果顯示，中國文化圖式課程對提升香港中三學生文言文的「基本閱讀能力」(理解基本/表層文意) 和「深層閱讀能力」(理解篇章深層意義)，均有一定的成效；當中，尤以「深層閱讀能力」的成效最為顯著。至於「讀者層閱讀能力」(建構個人新知識及看法) 方面，於是次研究中，則暫未見顯著成效。此外，研究結果亦發現，學生於課程完結後，對中國文化及古典作品的興趣，亦有一定程度的提升。 圖式建構絕非一朝一夕的，教師在教學的過程中，宜反覆重溫、連繫學生的已有圖式，如是，學生的思維才能出現本質上的改變，而課程的成效也才能變得更加持久。

This paper in view of non-professionally-trained worker, and does not take the opera as the personal economy amateur, spontaneous composition association for object of study. By observes, the file analysis, the in-depth interview that to carry on the field research. And to discuss the difficult position of the organization manages, the curriculum arrange and the student study. The findings are： 1.The amateur performing organizations all hold the extremely important status in the past and the future of Taiwanese opera. 2.The Ren-Hon Taiwanese opera study camp was present only long-term activity Taiwanese opera amateur performance organization in Jiayi area, and promoted the fine Taiwanese opera take “esthetics Taiwanese opera” as the summons. 3.The Xiang-cheng Taiwanese opera theatrical troupe, recruits students regularly at every year , obtains the Tainan outstanding performance team many times. 4.There are reviews about the present situation and the difficult position of the study objects, and the feasible concrete proposal to the sustainable development of amateur Taiwanese opera performing arts organizations. 5.In conclution, The amateur performing organizations should make good use in the strength of “wildly”,and to create the peak again for the Taiwanese opera.

Resumo:
This essay disputes Weberian ideas of how Confucian thought prevented capitalistic development in China. Accepting Fernand Braudel’s separation of capitalism from market economy, it outlines the evolution of business culture and a market economy and their relation to Confucian ethics in Chinese history. It argues that Confucian ideas about industry, frugality and the preciousness of time, and Chinese merchants’ ethical qualities such as cheng (sincerity), xin (trustworthiness), and buqi (non-deception), combined with an “immortality anxiety” led the Chinese market to undergo a “process of rationalization” between 1500 and 1800 even though it did not lead to the rise of capitalism.

Karl Anker Jørgensen of Aarhus University found (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 6650) that an organocatalyst could mediate the fragmentation of the prochiral cyclopropane 1 with high ee to the easily epimerized product 2. Guofu Zhong of Nanyang Technological University devised (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 6089) a dipolar cycloaddition strategy for the organocatalyzed combination of 3 and 4 with PhNHOH to give the highly substituted cyclopentane 5. Professor Jørgensen also established (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 7338) that conjugate addition of 7 to the prochiral cyclohexenone 6 proceeded with high ee. The initial adduct could be converted into the alkene 8, the alkyne, or the ketone. Wen-Jing Xiao of Central China Normal University, following up on the work of Gong and Cheng, developed (Tetrahedron 2009, 65, 9238) a simple organocatalyst for the desymmetrizing Michael addition of 9 to 10 to give 11 with high de and ee. Control of sidechain chirality is an important aspect of carbocyclic construction. Samuel H. Gellman of the University of Wisconsin demonstrated (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2009, 131, 16018) that the organocatalyzed addition of 13 to 12 proceeded with high facial selectivity and excellent diastereocontrol. In a complementary approach, Alexander J. A. Cobb of the University of Reading optimized (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2009, 131, 16016) an organocatalyst for the cyclization of 15 to 16, again with high facial selectivity and excellent diastereocontrol. Ying-Chun Chen of the West China School of Pharmacy established (Organic Lett. 2009, 11, 4660) conditions for the organocatalyzed combination of 17 with 18 to give 19. In a related approach, Bor-Cherng Hong of the National Chung Cheng University showed (Organic Lett. 2009, 11, 5246) that 20, 21, and 22 could be combined under organocatalysis to give 23 in high ee with excellent diastereocontrol. Both of these approaches, and several others that have been published recently, were carried out with aryl substituents. It remains to be seen whether alkyl substituents, which would be more useful in a target-directed synthesis, would be compatible with these methods for ring construction.
