Abstract Background: According to World Malaria Report 2019, 3% of the global malaria cases are reported from India. Most cases of malaria in India are due to infestation by Plasmodium falciparum (65%) and Plasmodium vivax (35%). Only a few thousand cases of Plasmodium malariae has been reported from foothill areas in Orissa. Malaria due to Plasmodium ovale is not very common in India and till date only 9 cases have been reported. We are reporting a case of P. ovale malaria which was diagnosed and treated at Government Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala, in a patient who had returned from Uganda. Diagnosis was made with the specific morphological features of these parasites like oval shape of parasitised RBCs, fimbriation of RBCs and very prominent shuffners dots. Interpretation & Conclusion: This is the first case of Pl. ovale reported from central Kerala. This case of plasmodium ovale malaria could be an isolated imported case and there are no reported cases of local transmission so far following detection of this case. Keywords: Malaria, Plasmodium ovale, fimbriation.

Central giant cell granuloma (central giant cell granuloma) is an uncommon benign bony lesion that occurs in the mandible and maxilla and accounts for approximately 7% of all benign tumours of the jaws [1]. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined central giant cell granuloma as an intraosseous lesion consisting of cellular fibrous tissue that contains multiple foci of haemorrhage, aggregations of multinucleated giant cells and occasional trabeculae of woven bone [2]. Central giant cell granuloma occurs predominantly in children or young adults, with approximately 75%of cases presenting before 30 years of age although presentation can occur at any age [3]. Females are affected more frequently than males, with a ratio of 2:1

Analyzing the achievements and results of the past period, we can see that cooperation between the Central Asian states is entering a new stage at a time when multilateral cooperation around the world is in crisis and mutual trust is declining. In a historically short period, unprecedented progress has been made in relations between Central Asian states. Most importantly, important and mutually beneficial agreements have been reached on the use of borders and water resources, which were previously an obstacle to the development of regional cooperation. At the initiative of our President, new mechanisms of cooperation have been established. Examples of this are the Consultative Meetings of Central Asian Heads of State, the establishment of inter-parliamentary groups, the Council for Cooperation in Border Regions, ministerial and interdepartmental commissions, and investment funds.

The nature and scope of the Federal Reserve's authority and the structure of its decision making are now “on the table” to an extent that has not been seen since 1935, and the Fed's vaunted independence is under some attack. This essay asks what the Federal Reserve should—and shouldn't—do, leaning heavily on the concept of economies of scope. In particular, I conclude that the central bank should monitor and regulate systemic risk because preserving financial stability is (a) closely aligned with the standard objectives of monetary policy and (b) likely to require lender of last resort powers. I also conclude that the Fed should supervise large financial institutions because that function is so closely to regulating systemic risk. However, several other functions now performed by the Fed could easily be done elsewhere. (JEL E52, E58, G21, G28)

Purpose: The article aims to examine the impact of women’s decision-making power in families on their gender stereotypes about business executives in the promising but insufficiently explored regions of Central Europe (CE) and Central Asia (CA). Methodology: The study utilized multiple linear regression and Spearman’s correlation coefficients to analyze survey data (No=6,869) from Central European (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia) and Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan). Findings: Central Asian women demonstrated stronger gender stereotypes about business executives compared to the Central European sample. Equally shared power in decision-making with a part-ner has a positive impact on weakening women’s gender stereotypes about top managers. Men’s unilateral decision-making correlates with their spouses’ higher gender bias, whereas independent women’s decisions do not reveal a relationship with their gender stereotypes. Research limitations: The study does not control respondents’ marital and mother’s status and excludes one of the Central Asian states, namely Turkmenistan. Research implications: Policymakers can use the present findings to forecast how familialist pol-icies reproduce gender stereotypes and inhibit gender equality. The research complements the specificity of the vicious cycle linking gender roles and stereotypes in the context of CE and CA and expands the “family cage” phenomenon. Originality/value: First massive research on gender stereotypes about business executives embrac-ing the Visegrad Group and four Central Asian states. The study discovers the internal aspect of family impact on women’s views of top managers that has been neglected before.

Nishopur was the place where all scientists of Iran and Central Asian gathered and all Transoxianamosques were full of with the students who came far from countries. The seismic observations in Central Asia were conducted by networks of three states: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakh-stan, Uzbekistan,  consisting of 26, 36 и 20 stations respectively. The catalog for 2013 includes 341 events with КР=8.614.7. Focal mechanisms are found for 82 earthquakes with КР≥9.6. The strongest event in the catalog with КР=14.7, called the Sarydjaz earthquake, occurred on January 28 at 16h38m in the territory of Kazakhstan, 240 km southeast of Almaty city. The epicenter is located in a sparsely populated mountainous terrain. In the nearest settlements, no serious damage was found. In general, the seismic process in the region occurred in the background regime. The main seismically active zones and their configuration remained unchanged. Only the level of seismic activity of different zones and the location of the centers of strong earth-quakes changed.

ABSTRACT Central vertigo can clinically manifest in three ways: Acute onset of vertigo and dizziness, recurrent attacks and chronic central vertigo. In patients with acute onset of symptoms it is essential to differentiate between central and peripheral vertigo because this has major diagnostic and therapeutic implications. A differentiation can most often be achieved by a careful neuroophthalmological and neuro-otological bedside examination. One should look in particular for the following five signs of central lesions: skew deviation/vertical divergence (as a component of the ocular tilt reaction), gaze-evoked nystagmus contralateral to a spontaneous nystagmus, saccadic smooth pursuit, acute nystagmus in combination with a nonpathological head-impulse test and central fixation nystagmus. The most frequent forms of central vertigo with recurrent attacks are vestibular migraine and episodic ataxia type 2. Clinically relevant types of chronic or chronic progressive central vertigo are neurodegenerative disorders affecting the cerebellum which are often associated with cerebellar ocular motor dysfunction, in particular downbeat nystagmus. Treatments of choice for a prophylactic therapy of vestibular migraine are betablocker, topiramate or valproic acid. A new treatment option for episodic ataxia type 2 and downbeat nystagmus are aminopyridines (potassium channel blockers). How to cite this article Strupp M, Brandt T. Central Vertigo.
