Central Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada, is host to ∼700–630 Ma felsic and associated mafic volcanic rocks that are relatively rare in other parts of the Avalon Composite Terrane, occurring elsewhere only in the Stirling Block of southern Cape Breton Island and in parts of eastern Newfoundland. The mafic rocks of central Cape Breton Island are typically intraplate tholeiitic basalts generated by melting of a garnet-bearing mantle source. They lack a continental trace element and εNd imprint although they were emplaced on continental crust; they resemble oceanic island basalts. Contemporaneous volcanism in the Stirling Block is calc-alkaline and formed in a volcanic arc setting. In the absence of evidence for an intervening trench complex or suture, it may be inferred that the central Cape Breton tholeiites formed in a back-arc setting relative to the Stirling Block. This rifting may represent the initial stages of separation of an Avalonian arc from western Gondwana. The arc rifted further between ∼630–610 Ma when the younger Antigonish-Cobequid back-arc basin formed. Subsequently, the extensional arc became convergent, telescoping the back-arc basin. Northwestward migration of calc-alkaline arc magmatism may be related to shallowing of the associated Benioff zone through time.

Le but de cette étude est de faire l'inventaire complet de l'ensemble des articles et écrits publiés par l'hebdomadaire briochin de langue bretonne au cours de ses vingt-deux années d'existence (janvier 1898-septembre 1920). Elle rassemble donc, dans un premier temps, ces articles et écrits suivant le thème abordé dans chacun d'eux ou, s'il s'agit de morceaux à vocation plus littéraire, selon leur forme : poèmes ou compositions en vers, pièces de théâtre, récits et contes, proverbes, avis, annonces publicitaires, lettres de lecteurs ou à l'adresse des lecteurs. D'une manière générale, chacune des grandes parties de cette étude (17) est précédée d'une présentation soulignant l'idée force ou les caractéristiques principales communes à l'ensemble des textes rassembles dans ces parties ainsi que d'une table alphabétique de ces textes ou thématique dans le cas des proverbes, par exemple. A l'intérieur de ces parties, il est donné, pour la plupart des écrits, un extrait significatif de leur teneur ou de leur forme. On trouve en fin de travail, outre la table des auteurs et de leurs écrits, un court index regroupant les principaux noms, événements, associations ou partis mentionnes dans le journal, mais que le seul titre des articles ne permettrait pas de retrouver, une chronologie succincte des années concernées, un aperçu des écrits en langue bretonne publies par la "Croix des Côtes-du-Nord" avant la création de "Kroaz ar vretoned", de 1896 a 1897, un tableau notant, par numéro du journal, la fréquence des formes littéraires et des grands thèmes traites ainsi qu'un document relatif a la confrérie culturelle "Breuriez ar brezhoneg"
The purpose of this study is to draw up a complete inventory of all the articles and works having been published in the weekly periodical edited in Breton language during twenty-two years, from January 1898 until September 1920, in Saint-Brieuc. It consequently gathers articles and writings according to the matters treated in each of them or, when the pieces have a more literary character, depending on their form : poems, verse compositions, theater-plays, tales and stories, proverbs, advices, publicity notices, letters from or to readers. As a rule, each of the main parts of this study (17) is preceded by a general presentation, accentuating the principle ideas or characteristics that are common to all the texts collected in these parts, so as an alphabetical list of these texts or a table of contents, for instance, for the proverb. For most of the writings in these parts is given a significant excerpt for their tenor or their form. Besides the list of the authors and their writings, one can find at the end of the study a short chronology, a summary of the writings having been published in Breton by "la Croix des Côtes-du-Nord" before "Kroaz ar vretoned" was created (1896-97), a table showing for each number of the periodical the frequency of literary forms as well as the principal subjects and, to end with, a document about the cultural guild "breuriez ar brezoneg by its cofounder yves le moal (1913)

“Revolutionary” Egypt that functioned as the crucial tool, through an occupation regime that established structures tailored to force Yemen’s incorporation into the global economy. Informing the bureaucratic imprints of this attempt was the hegemonic doctrines of modernization. And yet, those efforts proved short-lived, and a failure. Through its ubiquitous presence in universities and deep infiltration into the new multi-lateral institutions charged with bringing change to the Global South, theories of modernization and the prescriptions for how to realize it became unquestioned (social) science. Reflecting the power of the postwar society which produced these theories, within a few years, modernization’s ideals and the various blueprints to realize them were applied by most international donor agencies and governments. Presented through various multi-lateral organizations and directly implemented by way of aid agencies, it can be observed that throughout the 1960s and into the 1970s, the actual discourse of modernization imposed a narrowed idea of what was both correct economic practice and necessary for the global economic order envisioned by the Bretton Woods agreements to take place

Concernant le couple de langues français-japonais, les ressources disponibles sur le Web sont peu nombreuses et de taille modeste. Il existe cependant de nombreux dictionnaire imprimés de qualité et à large couverture. C’est pourquoi nous avons lancé le projet jibiki.fr de construction d’un dictionnaire japonais-français de qualité et à large couverture à partir de récupération de données issues du dictionnaire de Jean-Baptiste Cesselin (1940) que nous avons numérisé et lu optiquement. Nous avons complété ces données par d’autres issues du dictionnaire JMdict de Jim Breen (2004) et de Wikipedia pour pallier le manque de vocabulaire récent. Nous avons ensuite installé ces données sur une plateforme de gestion de ressources lexicales en ligne. Les utilisateurs peuvent alors consulter le dictionnaire et corriger les erreurs qu’ils trouvent lors de la consultation. La plateforme possède également une interface de programmation (API) qui permet de programmer des scripts afin de corriger automatiquement certains phénomènes repérés lors de consultations. La ressource ainsi construite est disponible en téléchargement libre de droits. Cet article décrit certaines techniques de correction automatique et manuelle à l’issue des 3 ans et demi du projet.
