Abstract The current study investigated how language experience impacts phonologically-mediated meaning activation. Monolinguals and bilinguals made living/non-living judgments on English homophones (e.g., beech, beach) while Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) were recorded. Context was manipulated by making the preceding trial either unrelated (e.g., servant → beech) or semantically-related, creating priming. The related context either strengthened (e.g., oak → beech) or diminished (e.g., oak → beach) a homophone’s meaning. In the unrelated context, both groups utilized phonology similarly to access meaning, as evidenced by a later N400 and a larger late positive component (LPC) for homophones than for non-homophonic words. However, when the context primed the incorrect meaning (e.g., oak → beach), only monolinguals exhibited N400 attenuation and delayed LPCs, indicating that they were mistakenly using phonology and context to access meaning and were then required to reanalyze their interpretation. These results provide insight into how oral language experience impacts phonological activation of meaning.

The results of field observation for recreation load on Sevastopol beach “Vasileva balka” from May till October 2016 was presented. Maximal attendance of the be3ch was registered during July – mid-August. Median of guest number from 9 till 19 was 380, minimum – 130, maximum – 625 persons. Maximal and average actual recreation loads on the beach did not exceed values estimated by SanPiN norms.

This research was conducted in June 2019 to determine the kind of marine debris, source, production and the correlation with the number of tourists in Air Manis, Nirwana, and Carolina Beach of Padang City, West Sumatera. Three sampling stations were surveyed. The results showed that marine debris found in those beaches were categorized organic, such as: fruits, leaves, wood, bamboo, sea plants and else an organic especially: plastic, glass, rubber, metal, etc. Air Manis Beach had the highest production of marine debris (1340 pcs), followed by Nirwana Beach (538 pcs) and Carolina Beach (500pcs). The source of marine debris were assessed to come from visitors and from outside those beac hes carried by sea current. The total of marine debris production was 29.165 kg. Plastic was the most common type of debris found. The production of garbage in the number of visitors shows very strong relationships (Y = -94,505 + 2,018x ; r = 0,97 ). There is strong correlation between the number of visitors and marine debris production in those beaches.

Sidodadi Village is one of the villages located in southern Malang area located in Gedangan sub-district. The village is one of the villages that has the most extraordinary natural potentials such as Ungapan Beach, Bajulmati Beach, Parangdowo Beach, Jolangkung Beach, Bengkung Beach, Ngudel Beach, and Ngantep Beach, which is a beach located in the southern cross of Malang Regency. Rows of mountains are sturdy and beautiful to make the tourists interested to travel there.Sidodadi village area bounded with Sumbermanjing wetan district in the east, village elephant rejo in the west. On the other hand, not only the potential of nature is extraordinary, but the results of the abundant earth. Rice, corn, coconut, banana, rice, cassava, mangosteen, durian, and palm are natural products that can be processed there. The potential possessed and remarkable until now has not been published or promoted through websites and social media, to hog the visitors who more aplagi most visitors see the first reference before coming directly.The abundant natural resources with the stammered human resources of technology will make the potential of nature unknown to the wider community. Coral cadets and devices in the village of Sidodadi maximal educated High School (SMA) and only two people who can take the bench lecture. This is where the turmoil experienced by villagers Sidodadi where they can not publish the area. Only limited to the beaches that have been published, but for other natural potentials can not be published because of lack of knowledge about the use of the internet (Online Media). Abstract The performed research showed that since the first third of the 20th century until today the beach width at various sections of the Gulf of Kalamita has decreased two-to fourfold, and at some of them beaches have totally disappeared. The average coast erosion rate for the last 100 years has been 1.3 m/yr, with the maximum being 7.8 m/yr. These processes are accompanied with depletion of debris on the beach and underwater slope, erosion of bench deposits, and destruction of coastal structures. This is due to deficiency of beach-forming material resulted from intense economic management in the coastal area. Implementation of scientifically and technically sound coastal protection projects is essential to preserve the beaches of the Gulf of Kalamita.

Sea oats (Uniola paniculata) is an aesthetically pleasing native plant used for beach restoration along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast. Many beaches in this region have shallow, saturated dune profiles, which reduces sea oats survival. The objective of this study was to develop methods to identify saturation-tolerant sea oats breeding lines. Sea oats seedlings were evaluated for saturation tolerance in greenhouse, beach, and field environments from 2010 to 2012. In 2010, sea oats grown under eight treatments (seven greenhouse treatments and a natural beach site) were examined. In 2010, sea oats seedling survival 2 and 3 months after transplanting (MAT) was greatest for four greenhouse treatments (nonflooded control, 6 cm cyclic flood, 6 cm static flood, and 10 cm cyclic flood) and least at the beach environment (Holly Beach, LA). In 2011 and 2012, sea oats grown under six treatments (four greenhouse treatments, a natural beach site, and a saturated field site) were examined. In 2011, sea oats seedling survival 3 MAT ranged from 0.3% to 98%. The nonflooded greenhouse control had the greatest survival, whereas plants grown on dry bench regularly watered with 35 parts per thousand (ppt) saline solution had the least survival. Sea oats constantly flooded with 14 cm of saline water in the greenhouse had the least survival 2 and 3 MAT, 70% and 41%, respectively. Sea oats survival when flooded with 14 cm of fresh water 3 MAT correlated with a saturated beach environment, Holly Beach, LA, 6 MAT (r = 0.970, P = 0.030) and a saturated field environment, Baton Rouge, 6 MAT (r = 0.994, P = 0.006). These findings suggest that survival of sea oats grown in a greenhouse in 14 cm fresh water for 3 months correlates to sea oats survival at saturated beaches after 6 months, in the absence of significant storm events. Identifying protocols for selection of saturation-tolerant sea oats lines is essential to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of northern Gulf of Mexico sea oats breeding programs.

This thesis examines the nature of changes that occur within the beach profile at St. Clair Dunedin on the south coast of the Otago Peninsula. The profile changes are linked to variations in the wave and wind environments, and the results are compared to both previous local work and to the relevant theory and models accepted in the literature. Erosion at St. Clair occurs during extended periods of strong southwest winds which are associated with increased wave heights, decreased periods and enhanced longshore currents. Under these conditions sand is transported both offshore and alongshore to the east, away from the western St. Clair corner, resulting in a lowering of the beach profiles. Erosion is accentuated at St. Clair by the presence of a sea wall, resulting in exceptionally low profiles which may allow fill to be eroded fom behind the concrete seawall face. While erosion is shown to be associated with predominantly steep waves, ( > 0.09) accretion at St. Clair was shown to often be unrelated to wave steepness. Within the significant accretion periods the longshore current direction was considered to be of greater importance. Thus currents moving to the west under the influence of easterly quarter swells transport sand in to the western St. Clair corner. The presence of the western headland blocking these currents results in rapid deposition, and accretion of the St. Clair profiles. Allen (1985) showed that the critical wave steepness equation of Dean (1973) applied for a medium sand beach. The equation was shown not to apply to inshore data for the south coast of the Otago Peninsula. This was considered to be due to the higher wave energy experienced on the Otago Peninsula. The failure to gain a critical wave steepness was considerd to be due to the inconsistent survey base, and the fact that at St. Clair the accretional periods were influenced primarily by longshore sand transport over wave steepness.

This project consisted of a series of short stories which worked together creating a larger fictional piece in the form of a non-continuous narrative. This non-continuous narrative is in the tradition of Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio, and Louise Erdrich's Love Medicine. The stories in this type of fiction are connected by similar themes and settings, allowing the reader to participate directly in the creative process. The reader helps create the fiction by drawing his or her own conclusions about the characters and places from between the individual stories. By involving the reader more directly in the outcome, this type of narrative creates a more emotional response to the work. Each of the stories in this project were set in a town called Sand Beach, Michigan, and involved four generations of women in a single family. The major themes of the stories were mother/daughter relationships, healing, and redemption. Common images in the stories presented were, Lake Huron, the town of Sand Beach, and a rock in the local region bearing Native American petroglyphs Each of these images participated in the development of the common themes.

This business plan purposes the creation of a private transportation service, Beach Transportation, in Southern Orange County which assists the elderly and handicap. The goal of our business will be to provide the highest quality transportation to those who require disability services or assistance at an affordable rate. This plan of starting small and in a focused market gives of room for future growth and expansion. The financial and technical feasibility help demonstrate the companies requirements for startup and revenue estimates. While Beach Transportation will have to work hard to create a customer base it should succeed due to establishing the business within a large target market and starting on low cost operations to allow the company to grow.

Seagull Beach is a creative work about a woman who moves to a seaside town. While there, she is befriended by an artist and volunteers at the aquarium. The woman, Shell, becomes involved in a mystery involving drug smuggling and murder. Shell and her friend, Linda, solve the mystery through a series of unexpected events. Chapter one establishes Shell in Seagull Beach and introduces Linda. The plot begins with a mutilated dolphin on the beach and the appearance of a bald-headed man. Chapter two takes the reader into the aquarium and expands the cast of characters. The plot is further developed during a party scene when an angry exchange is overheard by Shell. The plot thickens, in chapter three, with the meeting of three men in an all night cafe. Later on, Shell sees a picture of the mysterious bald-headed man, in the local newspaper. Chapter three ends with the discovery of Roger's body. Chapter four has Shell and Linda trying to make some sense of Roger's death. Shell receives Roger's diary on the afternoon of his funeral. Chapter five is an important chapter for this work. It is here that we get a glimpse of a drug encounter that sets up the following scene between the drug smugglers. The use of dolphins as drug runners is also established. In the final two scenes, Shell's RV is ransacked, and the man who killed the dolphin is also killed. The suspense heightens in chapter six as Shell and Linda break into Roger's office. Shell later sees the drug delivery take place and has a confrontation as she walks across a dark parking lot. The work ends with an unexpected revelation and a conversation between Shell and Linda.

After compiling an appropriate list of beach criteria from established award programs and experts, the research landscape architect observed the Virginia Beach Resort Zone for areas of intense beach user activity.  The resulting analysis of these "hot-spots" indicated that urban resort beach users visiting the recreational beach during high-use times tended to gravitate toward locations on the resort beach which were close to three needs:  public parking, public restrooms, and inexpensive refreshments.  This pattern shows the apparent preferences of many beach users for certain amenities.

Detta projekt handlar om att skapa en ny hemsida till Åhus Beach. Huvudmålen är att den ska vara fullt responsiv och fullt ut dynamisk. För att göra hemsidan dynamisk har vi använt oss av wordpress som CMS-verktyg. För att kunna utnyttja wordpress till dess fulla potential har vi använt oss av ett plugin som heter Advanced Custom Fields Pro. Nästan allting på hemsidan så som texter, bilder, färger, knappar och även sidor är möjliga att ändra på via wordpress. Miljön som använts är en wordpress boilerplate som kallas Bedrock tillsammans med ett starttema som kallas Sage och allting har kodats i Visual Studio Code. Med allt detta tillsammans har vi utvecklat en fullständig ny och fräsch hemsida till Åhus Beach. Slutresultatet är en sida som innehåller sidor för tre olika evenemang, deras undersidor med menyer. Sidan innehåller nyheter, erbjudanden, information om eventen, kartor, kontaktinformation, sökfunktion och videos.

We find that, in addition to a normal fibrinopeptide A (FPA), fibrinogen Long Beach releases an abnormal FPA whose HPLC behavior suggests and whose amino acid analysis confirms the substitution of His for Arg at position 16, the thrombin cleavage site. However, this dysfibrinogen displays properties strikingly different from those previously reported to be associated with Aa 16 Arg → His substitutions. These properties include a limited release of normal FPA (18-20%) by both thrombin and batroxobin, an essentially full release of abnormal FPA (40-50%) by thrombin (1.5 NIH u/ml) in contrast to a 7-8% release of abnormal FPA by batroxobin, and a complete failure of highly purified batroxobin to clot the dysfibrinogen while generating a fragment which migrates between the B8 and y chains on SDS gel electrophoresis. The basis for these differing properties is not yet clear.
