This study adopted a multiple case-study approach to investigate incidents, their impacts on performance, and revenues in the telecommunications sector using data from Ghana. The study used open-ended qualitative interviews and document review methods. The study performed a thematic analysis with the Atlas TI software program to analyse the qualitative dataset. The findings resulted in a model dubbed the “Telecommunications Sector Incidents Framework”, which reveals that faulty hardware, end-of-system life, cell site congestion, power failure, microwave link failure, fibre failure, and Wi-Fi disconnection are among the incidents prevalent in the telecommunications sector. The framework also reveals that the incidents occur frequently, resulting in an average revenue loss of GH₵2 to 3 million ($182K to $273K) per month. Again, it reveals that employees become demoralized due to a lack of work-life balance, sleepless nights, frustrations, and undue pressure, which affects their productivity levels. With this framework, mobile network operators (MNOs) could get a better understanding of the incidents to keep their occurrences to a manageable level, create an exceptional customer experience by reducing churn, and increase revenues.

To improve initial teacher training programs and favora positive encounter between students and those who design and implement them, it is necessary to have up-to-date information on entry profiles. This article describes the students according to their life experiences, previous knowledge, professional development and learning goals to know opportunities, needs and improvement trends. From a qualitative orientation, 62 initial evaluation tasks were selected for first-year students of the General Didactics subject of the Master's degree in Primary Education at Universidad XXX from the 2014-15 to 2019-20 academic year. The documentary analysis was supported by the computer software Atlas ti 9 from which emerged, through the articulation of the grounded theory, a set of categories whose relationships and interpretations, results were obtained that evidenced, among others: high teaching vocation and ideas preconceived in training and professional interests oriented to educational change. As main conclusions, it is proposed to connect with training and professionalexperiences related to the educational field as precursory teaching elements; promote innovative, participatory and teamwork methodologies; and guide the theory to educational practice and teaching organization.

Study purpose. Physical inactivity among school students was an existing health issue over the past decade. This became more alarming when the world was hit by the COVID–19 pandemic. Movement restriction that results temporary school closure significantly affect students’ physical activity participation. Therefore, strategies and practices to improve active play engagement as well as to counteract its negative health-related effects on students were widely implemented by teachers and administrators in school upon its re-opening. Numerous articles have been published on the effectiveness of school-based interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is still a lack of a review paper that deals with the identification of patterns and trends about school practices in this area. Hence, this paper intends to generate impressions and identify concepts within the published articles during 2021 to 2023. Materials and methods. Selected articles for this study were collected from the following databases: SCOPUS, Sage, ProQuest, Academic Search complete, Science Direct. Computer-assisted qualitative data analysis (ATLAS ti. 23) guided the comprehensiveness of this review. Study findings were generated and presented through quantitative and qualitative lenses. Results. Four central themes were identified: 1) Alternative Physical Education – modifying traditional physical education subject; 2) Physical literacy focus – approach anchored to multi-dimensional foundation in physical activity engagement 3) Web-based intervention – virtual and cyberspace approach and 4) Needs–based intervention – focusing on integration of participants’ attributes and specifically designed program. Conclusions. The structure of strategies conducted by schools were greatly affected by the current community health status. Findings of this study will serve as a reference for designing future intervention approach to address the sedentary lifestyles of young populations associated to specific community health and other related issues.

Abstract. This work is part of a broader study of educational activity by university teachers after the implementation of the EHEA. This research is funded by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Scientific Policy UCM (call for proposals 210-GR35/10). The present contribution focuses on the comparative analysis of assessment procedures used by university faculty teaching at different degree levels. We believe that assessment is the key to understanding teachers’ beliefs with regard to the teaching-learning process. The methodology used was the discussion group. The sample included two groups of teachers who teach degree programs for Elementary School Teachers and master’s programs for Secondary School Teachers at public universities in Madrid: Complutense, Autónoma and Alcalá de Henares. Data processing was performed by way of content analysis using the Atlas-ti 0.5 computer application, which helps create the conceptual network for the categories obtained from the participants’ responses. The two groups of teachers spoke about the two basic types of assessment: a) learning-process, b) results. In the case of learning process assessment, both groups feel that developing portfolios and co assessment are important, though the Primary school group also points to self-assessment while the Secondary school group favours standards-based assessment. For results-based assessment Secondary school teachers only believe in assessing homework, but the Primary school group also include tests. In short, both Primary and Secondary school teachers believe in the learning process approach, but this belief is stronger for Secondary school teachers. Keywords: assessment, university faculty, teacher training, discussion group. Abstract The objective of this research is to interpret the experience of parents and, preschool and elementary school teachers regarding elementary school students' education in the new modality from which the curriculum was developed, facing the challenges encountered by tutors in their new role as teachers at home during the COVID-19 confinement. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were obtained from in-depth interviews applied to 21 preschool and elementary school teachers and 56 parents. Data analysis was performed with ATLAS.ti software. The results indicate that parents find it difficult to offer pedagogical support to their children, so they demand greater pedagogical support and preparation by teachers, which implies changes in the organization of the school and adaptation of the curriculum to the characteristics of the environment and the educational needs of their students. In this modality, teachers replicate the curriculum, consequently students are unmotivated to learn since the study program is not responsive to their interests and needs.

<i>Background</i>: Cervical cancer is the most common cause of morbidity and death among female cancer patients globally, particularly in poor nations like Ethiopia. It is a preventable, non-communicable disease of public health relevance. In Ethiopia, women's acceptance of the services for cervical cancer screening and treatment is low and poorly recorded. The goal of the current study is to investigate the obstacles that HIV-positive women face while trying to use cervical cancer screening. <i>Objective</i>: To investigate cervical cancer screening barriers among HIV positive women at Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College, Ethiopia, 2021. <i>Methods</i>: Between April and June of 2021, a qualitative study was carried out with women who tested positive for HIV and were enrolled in the ART clinic at Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College. At the time of the study, HIV-positive women and medical professionals were purposefully chosen from an ART clinic. In all, 14 patients and 9 healthcare professionals participated in the study. A schedule for in-depth interviews were used to gather data. Analysis was done by using atlas ti computer software. <i>Result</i>: The risk factors and symptoms of cervical cancer were not well known to the respondents. Women have identified several factors that impact their use of cervical screening: inadequate knowledge of the significance of screenings, perceptions of the seriousness of cervical cancer, the separation of the screening location from ART, having conflicting concerns, and emotional barriers like anxiety about a positive result, embarrassment, and shame anticipation. These same problems were recognized by healthcare professionals as obstacles to cervical screening. <i>Conclusion</i>: This study offers extensive data on the various complex reasons why women do not participate in cervical cancer screening programs. Consequently, it is crucial to develop interventions that can address and reduce these barriers.

In a number of works of art, I have taken an interest in insects, bookworms that eat books, electronics as anatomy and clever robots whose actions in a way resemble the apparently primitive abilities of insects. This text has its starting point in two works of art, Eaten Books and Atlas of AInsects. In the artworks, I am interested in insect anatomy and insects as symbols of decay, survival, extinction, death and post humanity. The text is originally from an artistic lecture about my work with insects and coding, and is based on a reading from within the computer program Eaten Books. Tourist activity is transforming the economic life of a community with sui generis characteristics. Three events have led to this transformation: the resurgence of new tourism demands, the construction of the highway and the incursion of the federal program of Magic Towns. The objective of this paper focuses on rescuing the voices of local actors on the subject, for which we resorted to the grounded theory methodology to build a new object of study, which questioned local development in San Sebastián del Oeste. The technique used was the Atlas ti program. Among the main results, it was found that: the economic benefits generated by the influx of tourists to the area are reflected in the investments of external enterprises. The locals obtain marginal income. The economic sector with the greatest advantages is local gastronomy

This chapter considers computer-aided deductive critical discourse analysis with ATLAS-ti 6.2 using a case study on eco-social work research from Mauritius. Data for this case study were gathered in digital audio format from eight focus group discussions, three semi-structured interviews and various reports from secondary sources. For the analysis, a literature review using ATLAS-ti was first carried out, in order to develop a conceptual/theoretical framework related to eco-social work. Then, the gathered data were directly plugged into ATLAS-ti for a computer-aided deductive critical discourse analysis using the developed eco-social work conceptual/theoretical framework from the literature review. Using the case study as an example, this chapter (a) demonstrates the techniques, and (b) appraises the opportunities, limitations and challenges of computer-aided critical discourse analysis.

Abstract This chapter provides a general description of introns in Drosophila genes, with emphasis on the genetic information responsible for the correct specification of boundaries between introns and exons. The problem of locating introns within unannotated DNA sequences is posed by any large genomic sequencing project, and provides a perspective for discussing the information that specifies their removal. I want to stress, however, that there may not be a single set of rules that can identify all introns in all tissues. Certainly, it has become clear that the rules for locating introns will differ between species, such as flies and humans, in different taxonomic classes. Here, I will attempt to describe in general terms both what is known about how introns are recognized by the splicing machinery, and how an investigator might go about identifying introns within the sequence of his favorite Drosophila gene. Ultimately, such searches will be carried out by computer. Most current software, however, is designed specifically or primarily for species other than Drosophila (one exception is the program GM (Fields and Soderlund 1990), which accepts organism-specific consensus matrices and codon asymmetry tables). I am currently developing computational applications of the ideas described here, and interested readers are encouraged to consult current releases of the electronic Drosophila Information Newsletter.

This chapter examines the adequacy of preparedness to tackle the spread of COVID-19 and the prevailing challenges as the impetus for the emerging competencies required in nursery and primary schools for children aged 5-10. It then unfolded the emerging skills needed by the practitioners in the wake of the pandemic. Policy recommendations were solicited from the teachers, proprietors, and children. The authors adopted a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews driven by the saturation point. The use of computer-aided qualitative data software (Atlas. ti) through visualization networks indicated evidence of inadequate preparedness to tackle the spread of COVID-19. They found 13 thematic challenges associated with the Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) protocols and the need for training. The findings also unfolded a visualization network featuring 11 pre-requisite skills that emphasized hygienic protocols. Appropriate training, government, and international organization interventions to cover the identified lapses are recommended.

Current techniques for processing high resolution Fourier transform spectra revolve around interactive graphical display of the spectrum on a computer. The DECOMP spectrum decomposition program is designed explicitly for the reduction of Fourier transform spectra and focuses on reducing a spectrum into a list of line parameters. Basic methods of spectrum manipulation will be demonstrated and a IBM PC - compatible computer will be available for hands-on demonstrations of the process of spectrum analysis. Figures 1 and 2 illustrate the process of background subtraction: in Figure 1 a low resolution spectrum is generated by binning the high resolution spectrum and beneath the spectrum is a background correction function generated by creating a low resolution "minima" spectrum and smoothing the spectrum. The results of the background correction are given in Figure 2. Figure 3 illustrates a common problem in Fourier transform spectroscopy: the finite length of the interferogram introduces "ringing" into the spectrum. Using a filtered fitting routine in DECOMP the ringing can be effectively removed yielding a spectrum illustrated in Figure 4, in which several new spectral features that had been hidden beneath the ringing. An example of the atlas plots that can be generated using DECOMP is given in Figure 5.

A dynamic simulation model of the contractile function of the heart is presented. The contractile function simulation is based on the modeling of the muscle fibers' structure according to the Atlas of human anatomy and the use of parameters of their geometric shape as parameters that control the contraction. The basic concepts of the architecture of muscle fibers of the myocardium and the structure of the blood supply to the heart are investigated. An algorithm is developed for local parameterization of the contractile function of the heart, which mimics blood flow and conduction disturbances via special control functions. The algorithm of the simulation model is shown in the example of only the left ventricle of the heart but is embedded in the full three-dimensional model of the ventricular complex of the heart. The simulation model is implemented as a solid-state parameterized model in the Autodesk Maya tool environment, managed by a program in the embedded Python language. The result is compared with the results of the OpenCMISS software in favor of the latter. It is planned to continue work with the implementation of the most advanced concept of the myocardial architecture of Torrent-Guasp together with the networks of electrical excitation and blood supply.

An algorithm of generalized kinematic chains and its computer program are developed in this paper. By this program, users can give the number of links and joints and then the link assortments and contracted link assortments can be calculated. The synthesis of multiple link adjacency matrix (MLAM) and the cut-link diagnosis are proposed to produce effectively the generalized kinematic chains. The algorithm can automatically determine the feature of a chain, which is connected, closed, non-isomorphism, without any cut-link (or cut-joint), and with simple joint only. Then, it can be called a generalized kinematic chain. Finally, various given number of links and joints, the nice looking atlas of generalized kinematic chains can also be generated. The developed computer program could help designers to be able to study and compare different devices in a very basic way.

In this paper, a new approach for graphical enumeration of epicyclic gear mechanisms is presented using the concept of acyclic graph. A new graphical code has been introduced to specify the priorities of all vertices of associated displacement graph. This graphical code is used to identify open graph, redundant links and isomorphic graphs. A computer program has been developed for automatic enumeration of displacement graphs as well as automatic detection of isomorphic graphs and open graphs and graphs with a redundant link without using adjacency matrices. This simplified methodology has been applied for the enumeration of epicyclic gear mechanisms with up to 12-links having up to 9 coaxial links. An atlas for 11 and 12-link mechanisms has been constructed using the proposed methodology.

Locks are important safety devices in our daily lives. The purpose of this study is to design new mechanisms of multipoint mortise locks based on a systematic approach. Firstly, the classification and advantages of mechanical locks are introduced, and the definitions and the development of mortise locks are described. Then, the multipoint mortise locks are decomposed into four sub-parts by the different functions, including the latch bolt lock, the dead bolt lock, the dead-latch bolt lock, and the connecting mechanism. The four sub-parts are further analyzed to conclude their structural characteristics as well as design requirements and constraints. Based on Yan’s creative mechanism design methodology, the concepts and the atlas of designs are synthesized systematically. One feasible mechanism is further chosen for detail design. Finally, a computer program for simulation is developed and prototypes are built for verifying the design results. The results of this study provide a valuable reference for designing multipoint mortise locks and for the analysis of mechanism characteristics of mortise locks.

Practice has often proven that in many cases the multimedia technological applications (internet, media editing hardware and software platforms) can rise the quality of the educational act by optimizing the information transfer, pupils’/students’ development of specific competences, development of creativity and involving in common activities with the help of the internet. Nevertheless, a series of studies reveal the fact that teachers consider the student-teacher relation could not be replaced, even partially, by technology. The present paper presents the results of a study run in the 14 gymnasiums and high schools from Arges county and University of Pitesti. The purpose of the study is to identify the perception of the social-humanistic discipline teachers in pre-university education and of the students at the social-humanistic faculties (psychology, history, journalism), wishing to become teachers, on the use of ICT resources in the didactical process. Analyzing the perception of the teachers and students in the group on the efficiency of multimedia means in facilitating the transmission of knowledge and the shaping of pupils’ competences, in the judicious management of the time allocated to class teaching, in the differentiated treatment of pupils, in intermediating the pupil-teacher relationship, is among the objectives of this study. The research hypotheses of this study are: there are differences as regards students’ and teachers’ perception on the utility of multimedia means in facilitating the application of teaching-learning methods which are attractive and interactive for pupils; the existence of differences as regards students’ and teachers’ perception on the judicious management of the time allocated to class teaching through the use of multimedia means, the existence of differences as regards students’ and teachers’ perception on the individualization of training through the application of multimedia methods, the existence of differences as regards students’ and teachers’ perception on the intermediation of the pupil-teacher relationship through social media means. The methodology used in this investigative approach is the questionnaire applied to the social-humanistic discipline teachers in pre-university education and those students who attend the courses of the psycho-pedagogical studies program with certification for a teaching career and who have evaluated the university didactic staff. The study was carried out on a group of 41 socio-humanistic teachers and 56 third-year students of the University of Piteşti, in the social and human sciences field. Only third-year students were included in the group because the Computer Assisted Instruction was a subject studied during that year. Also during the third year students undertake pedagogical training and have access to schools in order to attend to lessons and to teach a certain number of hours. Findings and Results of this study have aimed at the verification of research hypotheses. The results have been processed and interpreted through descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Three of these hypotheses have been confirmed and one has not been confirmed following data processing and interpretation. The conclusions further to the research provide relevant data for improving the ICT use methodology in the process related to the teaching of social-humanistic disciplines.
