Obiang, Pauline. "Activateur tissulaire du plasminogène : aspects cognitifs et environnementaux". Caen, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011CAEN3133.
Texto completo da fonteTissue-type plasminogen activator is a serine protease involved in numerous cerebral functions and dysfunctions. We previously reported that its expression decreased with age in several brain areas. Interestingly, aging is also associated with a cognitive impairment, which can be delayed by environmental stimulations. The aim of my thesis was to determinate the mechanisms underlying tPA-influenced behaviors, focusing my interest on environmental enrichment. Taken together, my results provide strong evidence that tPA is critically involved in the regulation of numerous behaviors, particularly of spatial and emotional memories. In addition, we reveal that environmental factors modulate tPA expression through an epigenetic mechanism, i. E. Histone acetylation. Finally, the molecular mechanism underlying tPA-influenced spatial memory has been characterized. Altogether, my works lead to a greater comprehension of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the complex relations between tPA, cognitive functions and environment

Texto completo da fonteThe parallel between insurance and criminal law can appear surprising the disciplines so much seem opposite. However, the study of these matters in the context of the environmental constraints imposed on the companies highlights of many common points. Guided by the same philosophy, the disciplines use of the same means to arrive at the same ends among which prevention. In the case of supervening of an environmental damage, they are complementary. They thus allow the company, author potential of a damage, to make the environmental risk controllable. For as much, they do not manage to neutralize any risk, is because of an insufficiency or imperfection which is their own, is because of an external pressures related to the risks themselves. In fact then, the victims suffer from it

Texto completo da fonteIn the past shelters for ships in iniquity, harbours true port places consisting of industrialo-port zones became. Doors were opened on the world, harbours are in the middle of the trades of States and constitute a not negligible trump in the foreign trade of these. Different laws and port reforms led the French legislator and the port actors to refocus the missions of each within the port place so that our harbours achieve the challenge of the competition imposed by our neighbours of the Benelux notably, and also answer the environmental pressures which Europe imposes on harbours. In France, harbours always have were considered to be utility with a duality which was translated by an administrative service for regalian missions and an industrial and commercial service for the more commercial missions. The French vision of the port public service appears since then outdated and France owes adapt to a harmonization of the management of its harbours in European norms. The reform of 2008 transferred tools to private firms, allowing the harbours to reorganize itself around development and management. It is necessary to consider the harbour as in the center of the chain of the commercial transport and an integrated management of these last appears necessary, implicating a development of our harbours side earths up, with of the Earth, fluvial and rail services which will be an answer to competition. The multimodality of harours is a working which France must set up and is under way of building, with a catch in count of environmentin the middle of every plan. France disposes big facede coastal region here not much or badly exploited. Port policy begins becoming one of the preferences of the national leaders and will allow in France of (re)to find itsmaritime vocation which for the time being too much for a long time ignored

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis is composed of four essays. The first two essays draw on behavioral corporate finance and show to what extent French firms can take advantage of investors’ erroneous judgment. We first study the impact of the familiarity bias on ownership. We find that firms with higher notoriety level, mostly small-cap ones, have higher individual ownership. Second, we test the catering hypothesis in dividend policy, in that whether firms are more prone to pay dividend when payers trade at a premium relative to non-payers. The results validate this hypothesis and support short-term opportunistic behavior by French firms, especially when family control is low or institutional ownership is high. The last two essays examine the impact of climate change issues on firms’ decisions, in an international setting. Especially, the third essay demonstrates that eco-efficiency-based strategies significantly matters to the financial outcomes of mergers and acquisitions, which supports the economic rationality underlying carbon reduction investments, and claims for a win-win relationship between corporations and their environment. The fourth essay that deals with the environmental voluntary disclosure, emphasizes the increasing interest of stakeholders toward this kind of information: firms with higher exposure, higher leverage and those that are in the scope of regulators tend to be more transparent in terms of carbon reporting. Moreover, firms that are less eco-efficient show higher probability to report on their environmental performance, suggesting the search for legitimacy
Driussi, Olivier. "Évolution de la région Baléares (Méditerranée occidentale) du néogène à l'actuel : aspects géodynamiques et paléo-environnementaux". Toulouse 3, 2014. http://thesesups.ups-tlse.fr/2657/.
Texto completo da fonteThe western Mediterranean is a complex area which results from the interaction between orogenic and extensional processes, within the framework of the convergence between Eurasia and Africa. The Balearic promontory is part of this region and is located to the junction of the three main basins: Liguro-Provençal, Algerian (oceanic) and the Valencia Trough (aborted rift). The age and opening direction of the Algerian basin are still unknown and the structure of the Balearic Promontory, poorly constrained, is rarely taken in account in geodynamics models, despite its key location. The aim of this study is to understand the Neogene evolution of the Balearic region from the basins opening, contemporaneous of the Betic thrusts, until its recent reactivation. We use a large database of seismic reflexion profiles coupled to geophysics models to quantify the former structure in order to understand the respective influence of both the Valencia Trough rifting and the shortening linked to the Betics orogeny. The Messinian Salinity Crisis (MSC) markers, ubiquitous in this region, are used as reference to study the recent deformation: the post-orogenic extension and the recent shortening of the Balearic Promontory. The results allow us to provide a new geodynamic scenario for the Western Mediterranean and suggest that the South Balearic Margin is segmented and partly a transform margin. Considering these results, we propose a NE-SW opening of the Algerian basin along these transform segments. The MSC markers are defined for the first time on the Balearic Promontory and have major implications on the MSC scenario. We show that the deep MSC deposits and the shallower one coexist on the Promontory and, thus, we discuss the actual terminology of the MSC deposits. The MSC deposits also point out a remobilization of the Balearic Promontory in spite of its poor general seismicity. This remobilization is mostly extensional but some shortening evidences are observed in the Ibiza region. We show that the recent deformation is continuous in time and in space along the Balearic Promontory

Texto completo da fonteOne of the major questions in the current ecological debate about global change is whether phenotypic plasticity will enable species to respond to the rapid pace of ongoing environmental change. The general objective of this thesis was to study the effects of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (n-3 PUFA) depletion on the plasticity of two species, the European bar (Dicentrarchus labrax) and the striped bass (Moronesaxatilis). In juvenile European bass, the combined effect of an increase in temperature and of a reduction in availability of n-3 nutritional PUFA resulted in marked modifications of the profile in neutral muscular fatty acids and a smaller liver mass.At high temperature, growth was increased with the two diets which suggests an absence of nutritional deficiency.Conversely, diet did not affect the hepatic transcriptional factors involved in regulation of FA bioconversion. Juveniles fed the low AGLPI n-3 diet had a higher critical swimming speed in presence of hypoxic or hypoosmotic constraints. In striped bass juveniles, AGLPI n-3nutritional availability brought modifications of lipid profile both in muscle (neutral fraction) and in liver. Diet with low AGLPI n-3 was associated with a larger cardiac mass, but had no effect on growth in cold water. A higher stress level was observed in FW which was associated to higher mortality. These results contribute to a better understanding of the impact of global changes on marine organisms and pave the way for new research perspectives

Marked by its environmental efficiency, environmental taxation does not actually include the issues, nor has the beneficial consequences that politicians may imagine

Texto completo da fonteCarbamazepine is a very usefull antiepileptic drug, widely used at the point of becoming an environmental marker of human activity. It is giving rise to rare but potentially lethal hypersensitivity reactions, with specific combination of skin manifestations, eosinophilia and multi-organ damage (DRESS syndrome). The pathophysiological hypotheses rely primarily to metabolites of carbamazepine, but the minor pathway of acridinic derivatives is little explored. The results obtained from ex vivo stimulation in our laboratory suggest both that acridine stimulates the secretion of interleukin-5 (main growth factor of eosinophils), and that the formation of acridine and acridone is possible in blood from primary metabolites (epoxide and iminostilbene). Clinical data show a decrease in blood levels of 9-hydroxymethyl-10-carbamoylacridan and in the ratio (acridine / acridone) during the state of DRESS. Co-treatment with valproic acid increases the basal rate of IL-5 and diverts, at least in part, to the metabolic profile of DRESS. The study of the action of environmental oxidative processes indicates that the purification processes by trickling filters and stabilization ponds increase the release of acridine, while activated sludge systems have little impact. Our work in human pharmacology positions acridine and acridone as regular blood metabolites, involved as markers or actors of the pathophysiology of DRESS. The determination of the metabolic profile appears warranted for atopic patients requiring co-therapy with valproic acid. Acridine also appears to be a marker of environmental interest

Texto completo da fonteDue to the increasing pressures being placed on the environment, firms and industries are being encouraged by all the socio-economic actors (government, consumers, shareholders, ecological's associations and the general public,. . . ) to modify their market's approach. The both desirable and inevitable inclusion of environmental factors into business will obviously also have an impact on corporate management policies. Because these factors touch all the variables in management. Some of them are synonymous of constraints due to costs : new technologies in production processes, risk management, human resources management,. . . The others are sources of opportunities : a good strategic environmental management policy and appropriated policies of the marketing-mix (product, communication, price, and distribution) can also reduce these costs and enhance market expediencies. An effective response to the environmental challenge requires both a global, sustainable and long term strategic management approach from firms and industries

The objective of this thesis is to study the role of passion for outdoor activity on nature affiliation and conflict toward environmental protection and their influence on environmental motivation, while emphasizing the role of emotions and place attachment as mediators

Texto completo da fonteThe last thirty years have seen the risk of pollution increasingly take the form of major technological accidents and micropollutions. It is this new kind of risk that we call "major environmental risk". The aim of this thesis is to determine how this new risk can be submitted to economic management. After having demonstrated that the major environmental risk is a non-probabilisable risk due to an inmeasurable probability of occurrence and unpredictable real maximum consequences - a situation of uncertainty according to f. H. Knight's defini- tion - with the notions of responsibility liability and general interest being chal- lenged, the author proposes a double economic management of the major environmental risk. First, a "downstream management" based ont he "economy of conventions" consist- ing of a four level insurance system. Second, an "upstream management" which, given the limits of the neoclassical theory in general and the decision theory in particular, requires the conceptualiza- tion of an "open economy" whereby the means of intervention is the "normative manage- ment under constraint"

Texto completo da fonteThe work presented in this thesis belongs to the field of pollution control under asymmetric information. In the first part the problem of non-point source pollution is analyzed. In this case, traditional measures like taxes or quotas are not available as individuals emissions cannot be observed at a reasonable cost by the regulatory agency. The form that the polluter pay principle can take in this context is examined. The choice of the agency between regulate from the level of ambient pollution level or damage realized and regulate the abatement effort is also analyzed. In the second part, I analyses the interactions between environmental policy and the wish of a government to sustain the competitively of home pollutant industries that compete on oligopolistic markets. We extend the results obtained by the literature to the realistic case of an uninformed agency

Texto completo da fonteModern concerns lead us to maintain and expand our communication routes while preserving natural resources. In this context, the use of hydraulic road binders (HRB) during excavation works allows the use of in place materials having initially poor geotechnical properties. This thesis work deals with the valorization of a wastepaper sludge ash (WSA), industrial by-product from recycled paper, and a natural pozzolan as key components of new HRB. Physical, chemical and mineralogical characterization of these materials was carried out. Their reactivity with lime and gypsum was evaluated using a new chemical test method developed to assist the HRB design. If this method remains to be optimized, it allows the design of HRB using pozzolan or WSA without clinker. Finally, the performance of HRB, formulated by the developed chemical test method or with a part of CEM I, were characterized on mortars and treatment of two clay soils. An environmental assessment of a binder containing a majority of WSA finishes the study

Texto completo da fonteThe residue from cheese production is whey, which has a biological oxygen demand (BOD) of between 40,000 and 60,000 mg/L. However, according to the standards prescribed by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change the effluent BOD cannot exceed 10 mg/L. The high content of lactose represents an important environmental burden which obliges them to be managed. The drying of whey, the valorization of its proteins or lactose, the production of methane constitute some alternatives of valorization’s pathways. To date, few studies have been done to evaluate the environmental impact of whey valorization. The objective of this project was to assess and compare the environmental impact of four whey management scenarios. The scenarios considered were: the production of skimmed whey; the production of whey powder; the production of methane and the production of diols. Data from cheese dairies in Québec concerning energy consumption and the quantity and nature of the raw materials used made it possible to determine the environmental impact of each evaluation procedure. According to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, the environmental impact was quantified on climate change (CC), ecosystem quality (QE), human health (SH) and resources (R). The results showed that the production of diols generates more environmental impact followed by the production of whey powder. The production of skimmed whey and methane results in a reduction of the impact on CC and R. The data obtained in this project could help to guide industrialists in their choice of processes for managing whey and permeate in a context of eco-efficiency.

Texto completo da fonteDespite their usefulness, few researches in social marketing have been conducted in the environmentaldomain (McKenzie-Mohr et al., 2011). This research proposes to focus on the persuasion of environmental associations promoting the adoption of pro-environmental behaviors on the littoral. A qualitative study carried out among 17 actors in coastal protection shows that the different elements of the social marketing mix are deployed by these actors with a predominance of communication in the case of associations. As the literature highlights the low level of involvement in environmental issues in recreational and tourism contexts, the second study focuses on communication heuristics. Thus, through a quantitative study of 1360 individuals, we analyze the effect of two communication heuristics: the nonprofit brand as the source of the message and the social norms within the message through a modeling of their effects on three pro- environmental behaviors (Garbage collection, petition signing, donation). The results model the antecedents of attachment to the nonprofit brand and show its significant positive effect on the adoption of pro-environmental behaviors. However, social norms do not moderate this relationship. This research contributes to the literature on social marketing highlighting the effects of nonprofit brand attachment to the adoption of behavior promoted by the association. It also contributes to the literature on pro- environmental behavior by studying these behavior in a less studied context, the recreational context. From a managerial standpoint, it offers a way to guide future communication campaigns of environmental associations and invites them to work on their branding strategy to accentuate the effects of thesecampaigns

Henceforth, the environmental riskapprehension requirement must guide the company throughout its existence. The accounting law, asmuch for its historical abilities to apprehend the risks of the company as for its quality of organizing thelanguage of the company, appears as the instrument that can help in the identification and control of theenvironmental risk. Through the concept of environmental liability, the accounting law offers, on onehand, an environmental risk reading grid that highlights most of the nuances of this risk. On the otherhand, because of the concept of environmental liability, the accounting law reveals its ability to controlthe damaging consequences that the environmental risk imposes on the company or the environment. The merits of the accounting law as regards the apprehension of the environmental risk of the companymust not however mask an original conception exclusively based on the recognition of the violations ofthe financial capital of the company. Because persisting in the path of ignorance of an environmentalcapital has the effect of restricting the apprehension of environmental risk, the refoundation of theaccounting law in the direction of the integration of an environmental capital offers to the accountinglaw the opportunity to assert itself as a branch of law which, although specific, is none the less alive andas such, capable of evolution

As a matter of fact, earthworks characteristics involve very different issues that these concerning pavements, hot mix plants, etc. While comparing to various construction sectors, the large volume of moved earth induces lager fuel consumption by working machines and related emission of toxic compounds. Since nearly one liter of fuel is consumed per cubic meter of moved material, the environmental impacts cannot be neglected. In a first step, we proposed a methodology for analyzing the earthwork activity by identifying elementary tasks and associated fuel consumption so as to probe their relative importance. This based on the extensive survey of earthworks and the development of a basic earthmoving model. In a second step, we constructed a database for earthwork machinery in-situ emissions. There is currently very little data available in the literature. Furthermore, the latter usually base on combusted fuel with average emission factors for heavy duty on-road transports and theoretical combustion equation data. This hardly fit to the specific and highly variable driving cycle of the earthwork machines. Hence, we developed an original approach that allowed measuring in-situ the actual regulated pollutants emissions of working machines. This included the set up of an innovative experimental protocol and use of several analyzers that were not initially designed to endure the extreme conditions typical of an earthwork site. Lastly, once the data have been collected and processed, these were implemented in the new database and a numerical tool dedicated to the calculation of earthwork machines emissions. In spite of the investigated fleet and collection time limitations, this thesis consists of the first stage to a broader environmental assessment of earthwork machines emissions. It thus sets a framework for future cooperation with machines manufacturers, which so far very were cautious over the idea such partnerships

In this field, which acquires today great importance with all the problems of food, respect for nature and respect for the human; the problems are endless and the entire planet is facing challenges like no other since the beginning of the great civilizations. Starting with hunger, conflict, pollution, and depletion of natural resources, the problems appear almost insurmountable. We tried throughout this work to know what a managerial approach can provide and examined three major fields of management. The general approach concerning the laws, guidelines and provisions implemented at international and national levels. The financial approach on how to charge the commitment of the companies whether it is related to the food or simply to environmental issues, this is at the level of accounting and evaluation that mostly contribute to the knowledge of financial information systems of the companies and the marketing approach that requests here, more than elsewhere probably, to approach the question of the media and advertising organizations pressures, in order not to appoint others, who find some privileged lands to create rash and purely epidermal reactions where the common consumers or even other companies are forced to adopt often expensive measures when they are not harmful

The dynamics of their expansion and their diversity leads to open an economical and ecological work in order to analyse them, selecting the acceptibility criteria, rather than the ecological one. We present an analysis of the various conditions of VEA emergence and durability in the agricultural sector, especially in wine growing and fruit arboriculture. As a matter of fact, these two sectors are concerned by the non-point source pollution due to chemical products. In order to cope with this major environmental issue, the actors have chosen two VEA models : organic farming and integrated farming. Starting from the economics of conventions theoretical foundations, we build an analysis that fits with the environmental problem, articulating possible worlds of environmental protecting production and environmental conventions. It allows us to focus on the distinction between the two VEA types in both processes

The first part of the thesis analyses the way agri-environmental payments are perceived by French farmers using a method derived from discrete choice models applied to a survey of farmers from the Lozère area. Auctions allow the policy maker to take into account the various objectives he seeks to attain simultaneously. Thus the definition of a scoring function to weigh various selection criteria of the farmers’ bids is an important challenge. The second part of this thesis uses a decision model to study the impact of the choice of these scoring functions on the environmental gain and the budget efficiency of the auction. The particular case of the Grass premium is analysed. The simultaneous implementation of multiple agri-environmental measures does not account for the potential cost synergies that the farmer benefits from. Basing on experimental results, the last part of this thesis analyses the relative performance of three types of auction in the presence of cost synergies

Although they are of interest principally because of their economic value, this paper argues that environmental and sociopolitical aspects of the plantations must be taken into account. The first part considers the international scale illustrating that big-leaf mahogany is the most commercially important timber species in the Neotropic zone and is facing global overexploitation. This reality contributes to the advantageous position of planted Fiji mahogany. This much said, Fiji as an island state presents a number of distinctive parameters, notably a limited land surface and fragile ecosystems. The second part of this study elaborates on the history and management of Fiji mahogany in order to take into account their specific parameters. The third part will discuss the place mahogany plantations occupy in Fiji’s economic and sociocultural configuration. Through a geocultural approach, the study focuses on the distinctive population dynamic in Fiji where ethnic Fijians and Indo-Fijians have cohabited for about four generations in a complex situation, notably with regard to indigenous land tenure, productive versus subsistence agriculture, rural versus urban societies and a colonial regime. The study concludes that an interdisciplinary and multi-scale approach clarifies the complex situation in which the Fiji mahogany plantations are being developed.

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis contributes to an understanding of the relationship between trade and the environment, with an emphasis on the role of environmental regulation among countries. Three essays deal with this link from different perspectives. The first chapter analyses the effectiveness of the formalization of the Basel Convention on trade in hazardous wastes in the European Union (EU-WSR), followed by developing countries, and divided into regions. I build an environmental regulation index, which includes the quality of the institutions. The results show little evidence of a waste haven effect in the least developed EU countries. In the regional analysis, there is no evidence of the effectiveness of the EU-WSR. The second chapter examines the effectiveness of international environmental agreements. This chapter assesses the effects of the ratification and adoption of these agreements on imports of hazardous chemicals and persistent organic pollutants. The results underline the partial effect of these two conventions. More specifically, when assessing a less restrictive arrangement, imports are reduced only when the exporter ratifies the agreement. In assessing the ban on persistent organic pollutants, imports are reduced. The third examines the effect of environmental regulation on environmental outcomes. This chapter has taken into account the determinants of pollution and an environmental regulatory variable composed of environmental laws adopted by countries. The results show that environmental laws have an effect improving environmental outcomes. This effect is unique to environmental outcomes and to the law. Thus, some previous conclusions drawn from the literature on the beneficial effect of trade on the environment are questioned

The aim of this thesis is to provide better understanding of the potential benefits achieved by firms through communicated their environmental engagement to their external stakeholders. Using a sample of French listed firms belonging to the SBF 120 stock index over an eleven-year period (2001-2011), this research examines the mechanisms by which environmental reporting can influence firms’ financial performance. First, it illustrates the potential benefits for firms that report more on environmental initiatives, with regard to two important categories of stakeholders: shareholders and customers. Second, it investigates circumstances under which firms operating in environmentally sensitive industries can obtain financial benefits from the disclosure of their environmental initiatives. Our findings show that firms can reap economic benefits arising from environmental information disclosed to shareholders and customers

We use the Agence Theory to design a regulation mechanism of horticultural sector pollutions with asymetric information. In the first chapter, we describe the sector and its capacity of environmental nuisance. In the second chapter, we compare the theory on instruments with the regulation practices in horticulture. Then, we connect the theorical specificities of instruments with the characteristics of the horticultural sector to determine an adequat instrument. At last, in the third chapter, we determine a regulation mechanism which the regulator propose to the horticultural producers. We establish the incentives constraints of the regulator and we present the analytical solution of its program

Texto completo da fonteThe filter aids, especially the diatomites, are widely used during winemaking in precoat filtration process because they delay the fouling. These particles cannot be effectively regenerate. According to the European directive, since July 2002, the disposal of the spent diatomites used in precoat filtration is prohibited because they are not final wastes. The aim of the study is to propose regenerable filter aids having a high environmental acceptability and being compatible with wine. The new filtering particles must be inert regarding wine and available in different sizes for the various applications in wine production. Several particles have been tested in deep or precoat filtration. Some particles seem to be really effective as filter aids (celluloses, rilsan, etc. . . ) and are able to be cleaned or up-graded. Sand filter is very effective too, especially when the filter bed depth is equal to 1 meter. EPS beads could be used for wine clarification. Moreover, these filtering particles are backwashable and they don't affect the wine quality
