Each year the United States Army in-processes thousands of new recruits at training centers. Variations in the number of recruits who arrive for in-processing, particularly surges during summer time, cause problems that ripple throughout the entire Army training base. This thesis gathers and analyzes historical recruit and in-processing data for one Army training base: Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The recruit reception process is modeled as a network flow problem and analyzed through the use of computer simulation. Analysis of the problem using the model compares the status quo to various options for improving recruit "throughput." Policy options are explored on a cost and benefit basis. Recommendations improve reception battalion "throughput" by making better use of existing resources, and establish guidelines for allocating additional resources, thus contributing to solving a significant scheduling problem for the Army Training Centers.

Bats occupy diverse and unique niches and are regarded as important components in maintaining ecosystem health. They are major consumers of nocturnal insects, serve as pollinators, seed disperser, and provide important economic benefits as consumers of agricultural and forest pest insects. Bats have been proposed as good indicators of the integrity of natural communities because they integrate a number of resource attributes and may show population declines quickly if a resource attribute is missing. Establishing community- and population-level data, and understanding species interactions is especially important in changing landscapes and for species whose populations levels are threatened by outside factors of anthropomorphic disturbance from hibernacular visitation to energy production and fungal pathogens. For these reasons I have set out to establish habitat use patterns, detection probabilities, spatial and temporal occupancy, and investigate species interactions. This thesis is broken down into three distinct chapters each intended to be a stand-alone document. The first establishes the basic ecology from natural history accounts, provides an overview of the various sampling strategies, and gives a comprehensive description of the study area. The seconds sets out to identify the factors influencing detection probabilities and occupancy of six sympatric bats species and provide insight into habitat use patterns. The third examines spatial and temporal activity patterns and investigates species interactions. This study can provide understanding into the secretive and poorly understood patterns of free flying bats across the landscape. It can also deliver useful information to land managers regarding potential changes in landscape practices for the conservation of bat species.

Recently, Knowledge Management has been a popular subject discussed by industrialists and scholars. According to Peter F. Drucker, a master of management, knowledge will replace cost and the size of an organization is no longer a competitive factor but the knowledge workers. Paul H.J Hendrisks mentioned that without knowledge, an organization cannot exist. To keep the military knowledge passing down, is a very important job for the organization. Military training knowledge and related experience is accumulated through the experienced military seniors. Based on Information System(IT), the structure of this paper consists of three elements of Knowledge Worker, Knowledge Activities and Knowledge Repository to build a Knowledge Management System Architecture and fit into the military units in the environment of Military Nets. Finally, the test and training knowledge of Army Training Center will be example to give a full illustration of the Army Training Center operation-flow. It is hoped that with Knowledge Management System Architecture, we may set up a knowledge sharing and learning environment of the Military Nets.

As the economic pattern and social value changes, factors which affect the retaining intention of volunteers have also been changed. Moreover, there are still some doubts and stereotypes about military in people’s minds, and the birth rate decreasing is another factor affecting retaining intention. These reasons cause difficulties about recruitment. According to the current situation about the Army, the lack of personnel is normal condition. The result is that the weapons and equipment cannot be operated normally. No one would be responsible for internal work, or a person has to do multiple jobs. The loss of talented people makes some professional skills disappeared because the job is not been taking over, and relative training cost is increased as well. Defense Budget keeps in worse situation, therefore, instead of focusing on improving the effectiveness of recruitment, it is better to find ways to increase the retention rate, which is the this study focus on. This study is based on the volunteers, officers, and soldiers of the Army Engineering Training Center who are engaged in logistics operations. With literature review and expert interviews, There are 25 items in factors affecting retaining intention such as human resource reduction policy and physical fitness training standard policy, In the KJ classification can be summarized into five major aspects: policy, work mentality, practical work, personal factors and family factors. Through the Analytic Hierarchy Process of the questionnaire and the completion of the weight analysis, it is known that among the factors of the first level of structure, the top three factors affecting the retaining intention of volunteers, officers and soldiers are: policy, personal factors and family factors. In the different classes, the top three factors affecting the intention of officers are: policy, work mentality and family factors. For the non-commissioned officers, the top three factors are: family factors, personal factors and policy. For the soldier, the first three factors are: personal factors, policy, and family factors. Under the different genders, the top three projects affecting the willingness of male volunteers to stay in the camp are: policy system, family factors and personal factors. For female volunteers, the top three projects are: policy system, personal factors and family factors. After analyzing the influencing factors of the second layer, it is found that the top three influencing factors affecting the willingness of volunteers, officers and soldiers to stay in the camp are the information equipment control, internal management and family members'' ideas. For officers, the top three influencing factors are: manpower streamlining, internal management and information equipment control; for the non-commissioned officers, the top three influencing factors are: marital status, choice of service location and family views; for soldiers The top three influencing factors are: information equipment control, personal ambition planning and equipment use. Under the different genders, the top three influencing factors affecting the willingness of male volunteers to stay in the camp are: information equipment control, internal management and equipment use; for female volunteers, the top three influencing factors are: marital status Military social status and personal ambition planning. Overall, in the modern society with high-developed information, the habits and dependence on using information equipment are other physical and psychological effects. Physical and psychological addiction in information devices indirectly results in the difficulty of personnel recruiting, the increase in turn over rate, shortage of troops and training cost increasing.

Renovation of Defense Force is a series of non-stop processes, including not merely hysical weapon renovations, streamlining of systems, organizations, trainings and military theories, but also at the same time cultural renovations, promotion on management mechanisms and non-stop improving of how people think. This research focuses on how MOS (military occupational specialty) instructors (with different backgrounds and specialties) in an Army Branch Training Center would accept the overall policy on “Digital Learning” implemented by the MND (Ministry of National Defense), in order to discover answers to the following questions: (1)How well can these instructors participate on digital learning? (2)How can MND policy on “Digital Learning” influence these soldiers (and instructors)? This research had been conducted through questionnaires on 104 MOS instructors of a chosen Army Branch Training Center, and the outcome was a result after calculated statistically under oriented-descriptions, independent t-sample Examinations and single-variable analysis via IBM SPSS-22. The outcome of the research tells us that MOS instructors will react positively on” Acknowledgement on Usefulness” in face of “Computer-related anxiety”, and they also have high interest on “Acknowledgement on Simple Problem-Shooting” when facing “Self-Oriented Learning”, “A Supportive Working Environment”. Different hierarchical branches (Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers) can also affect how well one accepts “Digital Learning System”.

Since the full-enlisting system has been executed for the national defense policy in recent years, the military of R.O.C will be served by the voluntary military service totally. However, it needs considerable time and the training costs to train a qualified officer, sergeant and enlisted man. The longer the time they serve in the military, the better the training they obtain to execute their tasks more efficiently. Therefore, it is a very important and serious issue for our military policy to decrease the turnover intention of the ones in the voluntary military service, to reduce the training costs, to avoid wasting the time, to increase the utilization of human resources and to maintain the national military strength. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of leadership styles, job stress, job satisfaction and life adjustment on the turnover intention of the army officers, the sergeants and the enlisted men in the voluntary military service. The innominate questionnaire survey is implemented as the method of research, and the army officers, the sergeants and the enlisted men in the voluntary military service from a recruit training center in Chiayi are selected as the object of study. 700 copies of the questionnaires have been issued. 588 copies are returned and effective. The effective returned rate is 84.0%. The following conclusions are obtained: (1) Leadership styles has negative effect on job stress and turnover intention, and positive effect on job satisfaction and life adjustment. (2) Job stress has negative effect on job satisfaction and life adjustment, and positive effect on turnover intention. (3) Life adjustment has positive effect on job satisfaction, and negative effect on turnover intention. (4) Job satisfaction has negative effect on turnover intention. (5) Job stress has partial mediation effect between leadership styles and life adjustment. (6) Life adjustment has partial mediation effect between job stress and job satisfaction. (7) Job satisfaction has partial mediation effect between life adjustment and turnover intention. (8) Job stress and life adjustment have partial mediation effect between leadership styles and job satisfaction. (9) Life adjustment and job satisfaction have partial mediation effect between job stress and turnover intention. (10) Job stress, life adjustment and job satisfaction have total mediation effect between leadership styles and turnover intention. (11) All the five aspects have notably different results depending on the age, the educational background, the post and the seniority. (12) The five aspects have partially different results depending on the gender, the marital status and the official rank.
