Texto completo da fonteThe integration of mechatronic systems is the main source of their design complexity. Three key types of integration are at stake: multi-domain integration which is intended to synergistically integrate mechanics, electronics, information technology and automation; multi-level integration taking into account the interfaces between the different system abstraction levels, and finally physical integration that aims at embedding a large number of components in an increasingly limited volume. The purpose of our approach is to propose a means of assessing this integration degree in mechatronic systems design, as early as possible in the design cycle. The predesign phase indeed generates numerous architectures that will be shared, analyzed, debated and revised before being assessed in order to select the most relevant one according to the specifications to be met. Designers then require means and effective tools to compare alternative architectures, to justify and trace their design choices and thus facilitate decision-making trade-offs. Based on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), the metrics we developed aim at evaluating and quantitatively comparing the integration degree of mechatronic architectures, in order to provide systems architects an efficient support to opt for the concept to be selected. The objectives addressed by these metrics are multi-level, multi-domain and physical integrations, as well as the innovation degree and finally the design project implementation of mechatronic systems. These metrics have been implemented in SysML and experimented with a CAD tool (CATIA) on different architectures of two mechatronic systems: a wheel hub motor and a hybrid powertrain. Finally, a method to generate customized metrics has been established to meet industrial needs, by taking into account specificities relating to the culture, organization, strategy of each company and their designers’ knowledge and feedbacks

Texto completo da fonteNowadays, environmental proceedings can use more and more methods and design tools to start with the conception. However, these technical methods turn out to be untapped into architectural projects. This question orientated our research towards environmental quality of materials and processes of implementation. Through the update of the knowledge and innovative methods, our work tends to increase the capacity of operational practice in architecture. The implementation of a design assistance tool - easy to use for non experts and providing several clearly configuration fields, based on caseworks and linked to quality of materials - is a significant evolution in architectural communities. We point up several innovative propositions for future design assistance tools. We illustrate it by the setting up of a prototype named MaTerre’iO. This mock up informs architectural designers about the knowledge upon materials, and more specifically on the environmental engineering knowledge. The main repercussion of our researched work is to contribute to initiate an innovating interface between environmental engineering topics and expectations of architectural design

Texto completo da fonteDesign for efficient buildings is a complex process because of interaction between several stakeholders throughout life cycle phases. Today, many standards allow design to be assist taking in account energy performance and other performance aspects, such as indoor comfort, carbon footprint or project management. In this context, early-design stage plays a key role: early-design choices define design strategies that can influence the following phases (developed design, construction and operational). In order to optimize the whole construction process, constructability sets some principles based on the anticipation of risks about performance variations. Even if some tools and methods exist, in France constructability still needs to be formally integrated in design process. This thesis has two main goals: it aims to introduce the discipline of constructability in early-design stage and, on the other hand, it provides a performance assessment for conceptual design choices. The result consists in an assessment method able to support programme managers and designers to verify early-design relevance concerning constructability and performance aspects. The evaluation is based on seven criteria established by constructability concepts and performance-based tools. The method is applied to three case studies in order to show its applicability for both an early-design holistic assessment and a decision support approach concerning traditional or adaptive envelope components

Texto completo da fonteThis doctoral thesis consists of a research-based investigation on the different forms and types of French influence within the strategic politics of the Order of St. John and the gradual loss of Spanish domination in Malta. It examines the French influence on Maltese architecture during the seventeenth century that resulted from this change of allegiance. For this purpose the political, strategic, social and aesthetic factors, as well as the study of the formation and careers of the different personalities involved, are analysed in order to understand the importance of their role on the development of seventeenth century fortifications of the Maltese Islands and on the local architectural idiom. The various connections of the Knights belonging to the three French Langues with the French Court are therefore investigated in their historical context. This is also examined through the frequent correspondence between the Grand Masters and Kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV. The study shows how the arrival on the local scene of eminent French military engineers during the summer of 1645, marks the passage of the Order from the Spanish sphere of influence to the French. The French military engineers were active in the Maltese archipelago since Vauban had put France at the helm of the development of military architecture in the second half of the seventeenth century. The importance of Médéric Blondel, the first French resident engineer, as a catalyst of the development of French influence on Maltese architecture is investigated. The study examines how his influence is reflected on the work of Maltese architects at the end of the seventeenth century and on the classical elements which are introduced into Maltese baroque architecture that is highly influenced by the classical school of French architecture so greatly appreciated by Louis XIV

Texto completo da fonteThe integration of mechatronic systems generates many multi-physical disturbances (thermal, electromagnetic and dynamic) making their choice of architecture complex. Indeed, the increasing introduction of electronic and electrical (E/E) components in most of the current systems, increases the risk of occurrence of many electromagnetic interferences (EMI) that can strongly degrade their behavior. While these electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems are usually addressed in the detailed design phase, where the possibilities of compromise are limited to a few positioning adjustments or costly protection solutions, one solution is to propose a collaborative framework for the evaluation, from the early design phases, of physical design architectures taking into account these electromagnetic (EM) constraints. Actually, it is important at this stage that all the multidisciplinary actors involved can define, modify/update, add their knowledge and constraints and exchange their data while continuing to work in their usual digital environment. In addition, these system engineering activities must be supported with "Model-Based System Engineering" (MBSE) approaches, to support the digital continuity, consistency and traceability of the models and data required for this evaluation process. To meet this need, this thesis is based on the MBSE SAMOS (Spatial Architecture based on Multi-physics and Organization of Systems) collaborative approach to support, from the preliminary design phase, the evaluation of the 3D concept architecture under electromagnetic constraints. In this context, we have initially developed a SysML extension called EMILE (ElectroMagnetic Interactions Layout Extension) to formalize and model, as early as possible, the EM constraints in the system model. This extension notably includes the definition of EM requirements, the description of electromagnetic coupling modes and the specification of simulation configurations allowing the further verification and validation of the requirements, thanks to the development of a Human-Machine Interface. Our research work then focused on an evaluation methodology combining a topological approach with EM modeling, in order to support the process of qualitative and quantitative evaluation of electromagnetic interference (EMI). Indeed, for a given type of EMI, the topological analysis of the system architecture allows to qualitatively identify the existence of the victim components and their associated potential aggressors. Once these potential EMIs have been identified, a quantitative evaluation can then be performed, for example based on the physical equations and laws of the identified coupling, and on the electromagnetic and geometric requirements predefined with the EMILE extension. As a result, this approach ensures the relevant choice of a 3D physical architecture of the concept under EM constraints. The proposed approaches have been illustrated on a case study of an electric vehicle power train, based on various software implementation scenarios (SysML, Modelica, Matlab, FreeCAD) within the Sketcher 3D EM tool

Texto completo da fonteWith the construction of increasingly complex robots, the growth of robotic software architectures and the explosion of ever greater diversity of applications and robots missions, the design, development and integration of software entities of robotic systems, constitute a major problem for the robotics community. Indeed, robotic software architectures and software development platforms for robotics are numerous, and are dependent on the type of robot (service robot, collaborative, agricultural, medical, etc.) and its usage mode (In cage, outdoor, environment with obstacles, etc.).The maintenance effort of these platforms and their development cost are therefore considerable.Roboticists are therefore asking themselves a fundamental question: how to reduce the development costs of robotic software systems, while increasing their quality and preserving the specificity and independence of each robotic system? This question induces several others: on the one hand, how to describe and encapsulate the various functions that the robot must provide, in the form of a set of interactive software entities? And on the other hand, how to give these software entities, properties of modularity, portability, reusability, interoperability etc.?In our opinion, one of the most likely and promising solutions to this question, is to raise the level of abstraction in defining the software entities that make up robotic systems. To do this, we turn to model-driven engineering, specifically the design of Domain Specific Modeling Language (DSML).In this thesis, we first realize a comparative study of modeling languages and methods used in the development of embedded real time systems in general. The objective of this first work is to see if there are some that can make it possible to answer the aforementioned questions of the roboticists. This study not only shows that these approaches are not adapted to the definition of robotic software architectures, but mainly results in a framework, which we propose and which helps to choose the method (s) and / or the modeling language (s) best suited to the needs of the designer. Subsequently, we propose a DSML called Robotic Software Architecture Modeling Language (RsaML), for the definition of robotic software architectures with real-time properties. To do this, a meta-model is proposed from the concepts that roboticists are used to in defining their applications. It constitutes the abstract syntax of the language. Real-time properties are identified and included in the relevant concepts. Semantic rules in the field of robotics are then defined as OCL constraints and then integrated into the meta-model, to allow non-functional and realtime property checks to be performed on the constructed models.Eclipse Modeling Framework has been used to implement an editor that supports the RsaML language. The rest of the work done in this thesis involved defining model transformations and then using them to implement generators. These generators make it possible from a RsaML model built, to produce its documentation and source code in C language. These contributions are validated through a case study describing a scenario based on the Khepera III robot

Texto completo da fonteThe built environment and transportation (eg. walking, cycling) influence person mobility and social interaction; especially for children aged (between 10 and 12 years) who are beginning to explore and to know their physical and social environment. However, there is little information about the relationship between transportation and children social interaction. Understanding better the potential links, this research has examined the relationship between each of the following variables: the built environment, active transport frequency and independent mobility with social interaction (face-to-face and virtual) among students who studied at primary schools in Quebec City. This study used data collected through a survey questionnaire administered in person and completed by respondents in class. The sample consists of n = 197 respondents from six schools that are located in three urban sectors of Quebec City: central, old suburbs and new suburbs. For reasons of analysis and comparisons of results, two schools per geographic region were considered. The chi-square test of independence and logistic regression (binomial model) were used to do statistical analysis on the self-reported frequency of social interaction and mode use. The results show that children living in the new suburb had more virtual social interaction after school as compared to children living in the central areas, but there is no link between the type of built environment and children’s face-to-face social interaction. Having social media frequency influences the likelihood of children's virtual social interaction. Active transport frequency is more associated with children’s face-to-face social interaction. The results show that children who regularly do active transport have more face-to-face social interaction compared to their peers who rarely travel by foot or bike. This research also confirms that walking or cycling frequencies are not related to virtual social interaction. Finally, having a high level of autonomy for children’s movements (based on the right to walk or cycle alone) influenced social interaction (face-to-face) compared the situation where children have a low level of freedom movement alone or with peers. Finally, the study confirms there is a link between child’s gender and face-to-face social interaction. For example, having face-to-face social interaction, boys get more than girls with the same age. However, our results suggest there is no link between virtual social interaction and child's gender.

Texto completo da fonteFinding the set of optimal architectures is an important challenge for the designer who uses the Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE). Design objectives such as cost, performance are often conflicting. Current methods (OOSEM with SysML or ARCADIA) are focused on the design and the analysis of a particular alternative of the system. In these methods, the topology and the execution platform are frozen before the optimization. To improve the optimization from MBSE, we propose a methodology combining SysML with the concept of “decision point”. An initial SysML model is complemented with “decisions points” to show up the different alternatives for component redundancy, instance selection and allocation. The constraints and objective functions are also added to the initial SysML model, with an optimiza-tion context and parametric diagram. Then a representation of a constraint satisfaction problem for optimization (CSMOP) is generated with an algorithm and solved with an existing solver. A demonstrator implements this transformation in an Eclipse plug-in, combining the Papyrus open-source tool and CSP solvers. Two case studies illustrate the methodology: a stereoscopic camera sensor module and a mission controller for an Unmanned Aerial Vehi-cle (UAV)

Texto completo da fonteFrom the perspective of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, there is no reality that exists in itself, no raw fact, no absolute reality: everything that we define as reality is, in fact, only the result of interpretation processes that are unique to us. Mo-reover, the data stored in information systems is often nothing more than the coded representation of statements made by human beings, thereby inherently involving human interpretation and consequently being affected by the same biases and limitations that characterize the human psyche. This thesis introduces a new conceptual framework, the "Data binding and reification" (DBR) model, that describes the process of data interpretation, and then the reification of information, using a new approach that places human-perception mechanisms at the heart of this process. By mobilizing cognitive and beha-vioral sciences, this approach allows us to identify to what extent human intervention and the structure of the environment to which one is subjected condition the emergence of cognitive biases affecting these processes. Experimental results partially validate this model by identifying the characteristics of the environment that affect, in an organizational context, the data-collection process and the quality of the information produced. This work opens up numerous perspectives, such as the development of a choice architecture in the sense of the economist Richard Thaler, which could improve the very process of data collection by modifying the experience of users of the information system

Texto completo da fonteIn the middle of the twelfth century, the abbatial church of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa was endowed with a ''tribune'', a deep choir screen built on two bays. Dismantled in the sixteenth century this ''tribune'' is only known today by its 180 pink marble sculptures scattered throughout France and abroad. Since its discovery in the 1950’s, several attempts have been made to reconstruct this liturgical nonpareil of architecture. Their results differ on several points : the inventory, the location of the construction in the nave of the abbey church, the shapes of the structure and the positioning of the sculptures themselves. The stones preserved, numerous and varied in nature, are sufficient to allow a 3D reconstruction in the form of a digital anastylosis. From the Greek word, anastellein, “to rebuild,” this study appoints an attempt to digitally reconstruct the disappeared monument from its remaining elements. With no contemporaneous descriptions or representations that of the tribune and lacking precise textual and iconographic evidence, it is the careful analysis of the stones themselves that allow the formulation of a new hypotheses. Through this research, a new methodology for the study of the scattered fragments issued from the dismantled structure has been developed and tested for the purpose of their anastylosis. Every stone attributed to the ancient ''tribune'' has been digitized and integrated in the proposition of a 3D reconstruction. The latter has brought a better understanding of the sculpted set and its architecture, renewing discussions on the structure's artistic, liturgical and historical aspects. Thus bringing clarity to its iconography, functions, dating and context of commissioning

Texto completo da fonteIn 1535, the building of Notre-Dame des Marais the parish church of La Ferté-Bernard has been deprived of maître-maçon for two years and the fabrique has just obtained an indulgence enactment, when a new maître-maçon is elected by the people of La Ferté, Mathurin Delaborde from the city of Chartres. A city maître des maçons and bailiwick in Chartres, Mathurin Delaborde becomes the maître-maçon of the chancel screen of the cathedral. On his arrival in La Ferté-Bernard, the nave, transept and church tower have been built for over thirty years whereas the choir is in the middle of its construction. The northern chapels are built, as well as the axis chapel which has just been paid for and windowed. Although soberly flamboyant crafted, the structure remains unvaulted. Thirty four years later, in 1569, the structure is almost finished when the people of La Ferté call on a new maître-maçon to finish the flying buttresses. The building bears the MdLB monogram in two different places – on the triforium and on the staircase turret of the choir. With three levels elevation, the voûtes plates of the radiating chapels and especially the great amount of « à l'antique » decoration sculpted on its inner and outer walls, the choir of the church Notre-Dame des Marais in La Ferté-Bernard is a « window opened upon the Renaissance »

Texto completo da fontePea, well-adapted to the Normandy pedoclimatic context, represents an important nutritional source of plant proteins. At present, protein crops are among the promoting crops in view of their many agronomical, economic, and environmental interests. Despite their multiple advantages, the cultivation of protein peas is not as successful, mainly due to strong attacks by various phytopathology. The most damaging is pea root rot caused by Aphanomyces euteiches leading to a significant drop in yield and thus can penalize farmers. As there is no effective treatment to date, numerous focus researches are in progress to develop efficient control methods, which requires a holistic understanding of the pathobiome. In this thesis, studies were focused on the understanding of some direct and indirect resistance mechanisms of pea root rot caused by A. euteiches. The contribution of biotic factors in this disease were studied, specifically the influence of varietal genotype and its associated phytobiome, and so the establishment of multiple interactions with microorganisms. The comparative analysis of disease severity and induced architectural modifications, showed a differential expression according to their affiliation to winter or spring group. The two winter pea cultivars characterized by a high cold tolerance presented two features of interest: a delayed impact on aerial part despite significant root damage and an increased growth of root system in response to infection. In addition, the study of intra-nodule bacterial diversity in these same cultivars showed that the diversity of their nodule microbiome varies according to varietal genotype. This study highlighted the strong biocontrol potential of intra-nodule bacterial endophytes, with a higher relative abundance of known antagonistic bacterial genera towards A. euteiches for two winter pea cultivars. The varietal genotype therefore constitutes a direct and indirect lever by the establishment of interactions with beneficial microorganisms, to fight against pea root rot. The last research line has demonstrated the strong influence of plant cultivated species on the microbial associations in the rhizosphere, specifically a modulation of the assemblage of beneficial populations. Shaping the microbial community composition though the cultivation of crops to the benefit of the next crop represents an additional argument in favor of crop rotation use as a lever against phytopathology. Several interesting alternatives were highlighted in this research work to effectively and efficiently manage A. euteiches: at the cultivar scale, by specific characteristics in relation to varieties’ genotype and their ability to select protective endophytes, and at the scale of crop rotation, by shaping microbiome in favor of pea. Great research perspectives are emerging, especially the efficiency of protection resulting from all potential isolated biocontrol agents, which would allow the development and implementation of beneficial consortia adapted to Normandy soils and to pea cultivars specificities

Texto completo da fonteLithography and Moore’s law have led to extraordinary advances in integrated circuits manufacturing. Nowadays, many complex systems can be embedded on the same chip. Development constraints of these systems are so significant that a good planning from the beginning of the development stage is essential. Thus, the planning of energy management at the beginning of the development cycle has become important in the design of these systems. For several years, the idea was to reduce energy consumption by adding a cooling system once the circuit is created, a heat sink for example. The current strategy is to integrate energy constraints in the early stages of circuits design. It is therefore important to know the energy dissipation before the integration of the components in the architecture of a multiprocessor system so that each component can work within the limits of its thermal stresses. When a component is running, it consumes electric energy which is converted into heat. The aim of this thesis is to find an efficient assignment of components in a multiprocessor system architecture in three dimensions, taking into account the limits of its thermal factors.
