Texto completo da fonteThis research explores the theatrical genre and its connections with the novelistic genre in the representation of migrant otherness in contemporary Spanish literature between 2000 and 2018. Focusing on African and Middle Eastern migrations that have reached Spanish shores since the 1990s, we compare the evolution of the figure of migrant otherness between the 1990s and 2000s, marked by a dramaturgical and literary shift. The analysis extends to Arabic-speaking playwrights who have experienced this migratory phenomenon, questioning how theater and the novel construct the figure of migrant otherness and crystallize the stereotypes perpetuated by our societies. These works, far from mere mimesis, challenge the social gaze shaped by the media and provide a space to examine the contours of migrant otherness, as well as the literary and dramatic strategies that bring it into debate. Finally, we examine the impact of these representations on Spanish society, which has been confronted with massive migratory flows since the 1990s, and on the new laws that have emerged in response (Organic Law 4/2000 and its successive amendments). Ultimately, this dramatic literature allows us to assess how it contributes to the construction of citizenship and civic engagement by offering a critical lens on the figure of the Other

Texto completo da fonteThe presence of the french language in morocco from the colonization period to nowdays has influenced considerably its sociolinguistic reality. To communicate recent realities that sundenly appear in moroccan society (suches institutions, concepts, objects. . . ) the local languages has and still has revourse to the french language. The close relations between the mother tongue languages and the evryday-life of native speakers (contact agent) have led these languages (maroccan arabic, berber) toborrow a greet deal from french. The number of borrowed words introduced in moroccan languages testify to that. According to the balance of power between french and moroccan languages, the shape and the content of contact was decided and took place so that each language has its own uses, own users and its own fonctions. Afonctional complementarity between these languages is clear in the moroccan speakers'daylife. This is true though the conflictuel character that marked and still marks their contact

Texto completo da fonteTangiers, a town situated at the extreme north of Morocco, a few dozen kilometers from Europe passing through Gibraltar or Algeciras, forms, if one takes into account its strategic position, the bridge and meeting point between two ancient continents, Africa and Europe. Our research deals with Spain's presence and influence in the northern regions of Morocco, together with what remains of Castilian in the vernacular of Tangiers, our research then is strictly orientated towards linguistics. The main forms of vernacular in tangiers is of course dialectal Arabic in its differences from the national language, for it offers a mixture of words borrowed from other dialects, such as that of the Djebelas, of the Berbers and above all words borrowed from Spanish. Like other towns which have felt in their town-bred vernacular the rather strong influence of the neighbouring mountain-dwellers, Tangiers was impregnated by the language of the population of the Rif and, of course, by the Spaniards who held the town. Such influences, which account for the differences between the vernacular of Tangiers and classic Arabic, are mainly to be found in the lexical field

Texto completo da fonteThe present work, concerning linguistic borrowings from arabic to wolof, aims at bringing forward the origin as well as the significance of borrowings. With this object, beginning with a historical presentation, we proceeded towards an analysis of the phenomena which have given way to borrowings, more specifically the phenomenon of interaction between people of different language groups. Interaction with arab allowed wolofs to encounter a culture with a literary tradition. The contact between the oral and the written language led to the conception and elaboration of written wolof (wolofal). We have undertaken a linguistic analysis of borrowings on the phonetical level to observe how a wolof speaker would pronounce an arabic phoneme non-existant in his own language. On the morphological level we have examined how these loanwords have been assimilated in the language and how they combine with morphemes specific to wolof. We have included a semantic study of borrowings as well, which throws light on their original meaning

Texto completo da fonteThe geographical span of this study is ancient Mesopotamia at its greatest extension, which means Iraq, Syria, Anatolia and Western Iran. Iraqi and Syrian Arabic are thus the main dialects used in this study but other Arabic dialects will be mentioned, such as Lebanese and Yemeni Arabic. The aim of this work is to search for and analyse potential borrowings (loanwords) to Akkadian in these dialects, in order to trace back their origin from the IIIrd millenium B. C. Aramaic, Syriac, Hebrew and Persian are the languages that might serve as intermediaries in this process, but other languages such as Neo-Aramaic will be mentioned. A choice has been made among the semantic fields that could be the richest in borrowings, like agriculture and traditional crafts (pottery, weaving). The diversity of the sources remains a problem that requires an adequate methodology : obviously, an akkadian text cannot be studied like an Iraqi folk song. The linguistic analysis of the data should help to shed light on the phonological and morphological rules at work in the process of borrowing between semitic languages, and thus help to specify the nature of this process. Eventually, the date will be analysed in its cultural and historical background, which will help qualify the notion of "borrowing", and in a larger perspective illustrate the constitution of the lexicon of these languages on a regional scale

It is a contribution to the study of arabic loanwords in western europe. 173 etymons have been collected : 29 words of different nature, 109 of astronomy and astrology, and 36 of medecine and pharmacy. This work shows that the occidental loanwords from the arabic language have beginning during the third part of the eighth century

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis is a field study on diglossia and Arabic language production. Since the article by Ferguson (1959), numerous studies have appeared, often criticizing the dichotomous vision proposed by this author. After tracing the history of the Arabic language from its origins to the present day, we have studied the works of Arabic-Speakers on their language. From medieval times until the Naḥda, were Arabic-Speaking linguists aware of the diglossic situation?Using this historical perspective as a point of departure, we wanted to demonstrate the extent of the influence of the low variety (vernacular) on the high variety (literary) in Arabic language production through two sets of language production, one written and one oral. With this in mind, we used exam papers of students of different levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. For the study of the oral, we relied on a television extract. Can we make use of one variety without being subjected to interference from the second? This is the question that we attempt to address in this thesis

Texto completo da fonteThis dissertation describes and analyses language behaviour among Maghrebin immigrants families in France. We assume that in such situation of language contact (dialectal Arabic/French), there are necessarily situational factors and socio-psychological motivations which determine language choice. We believe that speakers exploit linguistic choices to convey intentional meaning of a socio-pragmatic nature. Our main aim is, then, to try to understand what motivates bilingual speakers to codeswitch. Another major concern of this dissertation is to explore the grammatical properties resulting from the contact of dialectal Arabic/French, two genetically (typologically) different languages, under the predictions of different theories of codeswitching. Dealing with cases of codeswitching and borrowing, we will try to propose some criteria to distinguish between the two types of occurrences. Me where symbolic exchanges take place. A kind of specific dreamtime seems to appear in what can be understood as a retreat to the desert

Texto completo da fonteMany studies have observed the importance and the effect of the mother tongue in foreign language classes, but it has not been fully valued in teaching. In an experimental didactic framework, we examined the use of mediation through the Arabic language among Arabic-speaking learners of French as a foreign language. This study focuses on the acquisition of the imperfect on the functional level, which is always a challenge for teaching/learning. This study focused in particular on the assimilation of the relations of simultaneity between processes that the imperfect may build in context: total simultaneity, partial simultaneity and interruption. Through a knowledge construction device associated with a mediative approach (and without mediation for the control group) as well as initial and final measurement instruments, we observe that the reference to the Arabic L1 can slow down the appropriation of the imperfect, by inducing confusion and causing overuse of the IMP with partial simultaneity and interruption. The main difficulty lies in typical perfective contexts of the passé composé with achievement verbs as well as in atypical imperfective contexts of the imperfect with accomplishment verbs. The experimental group performed notably less well in these two configurations, especially when they were found in a single utterance. We thus conclude that the positive transfer was only very partially effective, probably because it could not be automated in the experimental group

Texto completo da fonteThis Work focuses on early phonological and lexical development of Tunisian Arabic--speaking children. Its aim is to consider both the influence of articulatory constraints (phonatory maturity) and the input characteristics (CDS: Children Directed Speech) on first lexical productions. The data of this longitudinal study consists of spontaneous productions of 8 Arabic-speaking children who have been recorded at home in natural communication environnement with their mothers between 11 and 24 months. Analysis of data executes in two parts. In a first time, we measure the influence of articulatory constraints (biomécanics) by examining the evolution of phonetic complexity of the first words by using the Index of Phonetic Complexity (IPC) (Jakielski 2000). Secondly, we attempt to evaluate the effects of maternal input by the frequency of occurrence of the sounds presents in the CDS. The effects of these two factors are observed according to the linguistic stages of children. Our results show that the IPC children's increases significantly with vocabulary size. Moreover, we showed that although children’s IPC increases with time, its value is always inferior to that of target words. We propose that children’s realizations are the result of some kind of lexical selectivity which is determined by their phonatory maturity. (i.e. words composed of already attested segments in their phonetic inventory). In addition our results reveal that mothers adapt their language to their children’s abilities (i.e. the value of IPC of target words is inferior to that of adult’s words. Otherwise, the phonetic inventory show that the acquisition of the consonant system is also guided by the influence of the frequency of these consonants presents in the CDS. Bilabial consonants, approximants and nasals were acquired earlier because of their higher frequency in the CDS. The shapes of words produced by Tunisian children seem to be influenced also by the ambient language (Tunisian Arabic). With age, Tunisian children produce words increasingly long (three syllables or more) composed of different syllables increasingly complex (CVCC, CVCC). Finally we describe, through analysis of data, the development of the Tunisian first lexical productions that seem to have been more influenced by the phonetic-phonological complexity than by frequency of occurrence

Texto completo da fonteThis research tries to prove that the poetic discourse developed in the novels by Peruvian author José María Arguedas can be considered as heterolingual, in that the Spanish language he uses is highly influenced by Quechua. The endeavour in this work is to study how it is possible to translate Arguedas's poetics while remaining faithful to the imprint left by Quechua on the Spanish language. The comparative analysis of the translations of the three novels, Yawar fiesta, Los ríos profundos and El zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo, reveals the evolutionary process of the heterolingual poetic in José María Arguedas writings. This evolution presents a challenge to his translators who have been compelled to create a new “linguistic hospitality” in their working language

Texto completo da fonteThe present study examines the various factors who triggered the development of an important cultural translation current in the XIXth century.French language was then one of the main source languages to be translated. French novel, if we consider literary translation, was growingly spread, so it allows us to think upon the translation practices, its characteristics, its problems and how it influenced arabic language and culture. In the second part, this work studies literary translation and its problems, through the french novels which were translated in the XIXth century. For this, we decided to analyze several translations of « Paul and Virginie » released end of XIXth century. They show how many translators had keen interest for that novel at this time.Third part covers the ensuing cultural aspects and the huge ideological, linguistic and literary upheaval that translation of many french books, particularly novels, brought about. This thesis is part of researches who deal with translation in general and those linked with the arab world in particular. It intends to enrich the discovering of other people thema. It seeks to deepen, understand and promote cultural exchanges between arabic speaking and french speaking people in particular. Through the new vision it brings, it also contributes to the history of ideas

Texto completo da fonteSituations of population contact imply social, cultural and linguistic dynamics from which the protagonists never remain unscathed. This is the case of Hispanics in the United States, whose contact with the US culture favored the development of a mixed culture and a linguistic phenomenon known as Spanglish. Spanglish evokes concurrently linguistic, social, cultural and political questions and the purpose of the present work is to elucidate its implications in linguistics. This study focuses on transfers from English into United States Spanish, and on how these variations obey the system’s parameters. The present analysis is the latest in a series of linguistic studies focused on the oneness of the sign. It is based on the principle that variations that appeared in United States Spanish are significant ; their emergence reveals the system’s inherent dynamics and challenges the immutable nature of the cultural and linguistic factors that define the Hispanic civilization

Texto completo da fonteThe incursion of Islam in Sub-Saharan Africa from the 19th Century was operated through trans-Saharan commerce between the peoples of North Africa and those of the Sahel. This contact, maintained by the commercial caravans of these two peoples engendered the progressive islamisation of the Hausa-speaking populations. Under the influence of Arabic, several terms were introduced into Hausa lexicon. This Islamic effect comes with a revolution in the production of Arabic-Ajami literature. Thanks to the adaptation of Ajami writing, Nana Asma’u, a renowned polyglot, wrote several poetic works in the 18th Century, most of which are in the Hausa, Fulfulde and Arabic languages. On the basis of these observations, this thesis proposes to analyse the borrowed Arabic lexicon in the poetic works of the author, and their integration into the Hausa language. From the methodological perspective, our research work relies on a combination of two methods: linguistic and statistical; which enable us to analyse all the phenomena relating to linguistic and cultural hybridization in the works of Nana Asma’u. Our corpus is made up of poetic works that we have first of all lemmatized using statistical calculations with the help of Excel software. The principal results, obtained in the form graphs, indicate a frequency of very high usage of words borrowed from Arabic. The association of the linguistic and computer analyses enabled us to confirm, in a formal and impartial manner, that most of the frequent borrowings fall under religious domains, and as such linked to situational vocabulary
