Texto completo da fonteTwo main economic theories were identified among the economic theories which appear after Simon work: organizational ecology and strategic management. They investigate independently the problems of selection (embodying the integration of organizational forms) and adaptation. Recent research orientations focused on unifying the two approaches. However, no research studied merged these two approaches considered so far as independent. This is most likely due to the complexity of economic systems. This thesis defines a complete economic model integrating firms and organisational forms using an approach based on adaptive multi-agent systems. We show that adaptive multi-agent systems are well suited for the adaptation and selection problem and that the adaptation is not simply a feature of agents but also present at the organizational forms level. The first part of the thesis shows the advantages of using adaptive agents in modelling firms while highlighting the problems caused by the use of learning techniques in a multi-agent context. The second part models organizational forms and their interaction with firms. It proves the existence of a loop where each variation in the organizational forms is interpreted by firms which accordingly adapt, and where the adaptation of firms generates variations at the form level

Texto completo da fonteThis work centers on the tenet that organizational rationality is bounded: decision makers search, satisfice, and think in the way that is typical (in its integrity) only of humans. The dissertation explores this interplay between search and decision maker’s cognition and demonstrates how biases in characteristic aspects of our thinking can be instruments of behavioral strategy.As a starting point, I take search, sequential generation and evaluation of alternatives, as the first primitive of bounded rationality and complement it with integral elements of human cognition, such as automatic, intuitive thinking, specifically affect heuristic, and imperfect mental representations of reality. With the help of computational models, I track the effects of the corresponding biases (systematic affective preferences and systematic errors in mental representations) over time as organizations adapt to complex environments. This allows me to identify life cycles of the elements of human cognition and show that organizations should manage (rather than eliminate) some biases over time. Finally, I derive predictions and empirically test a subset of my propositions.In conclusion, this work aims to advance the emerging theory of behavioral strategy by jointly considering different primitives of bounded rationality and integrating them with the existing knowledge in organization sciences. A broad question that motivates this work is how organizations can manage the many bounds to human rationality

Texto completo da fonteIn France, 83% of sports facilities are owned by local authorities, which must finance their renovation and adaptation to new leisure and health practices, in a context of growing budget constraints. As a result, they have developed collaborations with the private sector, which have recently taken the form of works concessions, whereby a consortium of private companies is delegated a global mission (financing, design, construction and operation-maintenance). This form of contractualisation redefines positions and strategies for the stakeholders involved in sports facilities projects. The aim of this thesis is therefore to analyse public-private collaboration in the context of sports facilities concession projects. This issue will be studied in particular in the context of aquatic centres concession projects, based on the concept of institutional logics (Thornton et al., 2012). Five French aquatic centre projects were investigated based on 31 semi-structured interviews supplemented by a corpus of documents for each case (n = 378).This research highlights the need for specific project skills, which must be managed as part of a broader project management approach. The results also raise questions about the notion of economic risk and the place of public service within these hybrid facilities (Richet et al., 2009), while putting into perspective the efficiency allowed by the globalisation of missions within a single contract

Texto completo da fonteThe aim of the present study was to determine the effects of environmental temperature on cardiac function of teleostean species. Calcium activity of ventricular cardiomyocytes was established after different stimulations: hyperpotassic, isoprenaline-Iso, acetylcholine-Ach and caffeine. Myocardium contractility was studied by measurements of the isometric force, durations, contraction and relaxation kinetics of atrium and ventricular strips, after electrical stimulation at different frequences. Four groups of sea bass and solea were acclimated during four weeks respectively to 10, 15, 20, 25ʿC and to 6, 12, 18, 24ʿC. Between 6 and 25ʿC, intracellular calcium amount mobilized after hyperpotassic stimulation increases of 219% for sea bass and 71% for solea. Myocardium force, contraction and relaxation kinetics increase with temperature. Calcium content of sarcoplasmic reticulum-SR is more important at 24-25ʿC (+255% for sea bass and +45% for solea). Sea bass and solea develop cardiac responses similar of the very active teleostean species: more 50% of calcium available to myocardium contraction come from SR in sea bass acclimated to 10ʿC and in solea to 18-24ʿC ; at 18-25 ʿC, myocardium contractility increases between 0. 2 and 1. 2 Hz. Cardiac performances of sea bass and solea would be more efficient near their thermal optimum but only at moderate cardiac rates (12-72 bpm). Study of sympathic and parasympathic cardiac regulations has revealed many interspecific differences. Above thermal optimum, cardiac performances of Salmo trutta are stabilized. Nevertheless, when cardiac rates reach 85-95 bpm, these species develop cardiac disorders. Cardiac responses are function of multiple environmental factors, not only temperature

Texto completo da fonteCes dernières décennies, le phénomène de lenvoi de travailleurs à létranger, communément appelé expatriation, a fait lobjet détudes dans les domaines des sciences sociales, de la politique et de léconomie, de lanthropologie et de la psychologie. Dans le domaine administratif, la grande majorité des études se concentrent sur la gestion du processus de transfert et très peu sur ladaptation personnelle de lexpatrié. Lon constate également dans cette littérature que la plupart des études de cas font références à des entreprises nordaméricaines, au détriment danalyses prenant en compte une plus grande diversité culturelle. Dans ce contexte, cette étude apporte un nouvel éclairage sur le sujet, en analysant la situation dune entreprise dorigine européenne pratiquant lexpatriation dans sa gestion des ressources internationales. Lobjectif principal de létude a été didentifier comment et avec quelle intensité les aspects organisationnels et socioculturels influent sur ladaptation de lexpatrié. Lentreprise considérée est le constructeur automobile PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN qui possèdent des filiales dans différents pays. Ont été interrogés douze employés de lentreprise qui vécurent des échanges internationaux, que ce soit de la maison mère vers une filiale étrangère ou dune filiale vers la maison mère, certains dentre eux ayant vécus le cycle complet de lexpatriation jusquau retour dans leur pays dorigine. Parmi de nombreux aspects, il ressort que le contexte professionnel et la vie personnelle de chaque individu peuvent être des facteurs influençant son adaptation à la situation dexpatriation de façon plus significative que les différences culturelles entre pays.
Nas últimas décadas, o tema da transferência de profissionais entre países, à qual convencionou-se chamar de expatriação, tem sido foco central de estudo em diversos campos tais como as ciências sociais, políticas e econômicas, a antropologia e a psicologia. No âmbito da Administração, a maior parte dos estudos concentra-se sobre aspectos gerenciais do processo de transferência, com pouco foco sobre a adaptação pessoal do expatriado. Verifica-se também na literatura da área uma maior concentração de estudos de casos de empresas norteamericanas, em detrimento de análises que levem em conta diferentes realidades culturais. Assim, o presente estudo procura trazer nova luz ao tema, analisando uma situação que envolve uma empresa de origem européia que utiliza a expatriação como uma prática na gestão internacional de seus profissionais. O objetivo principal do estudo foi o de identificar quais, como e em que grau de intensidade os aspectos organizacionais e sócio-culturais influenciam a adaptação do expatriado. A empresa focalizada foi a PSA Peugeot Citröen, fabricante de automóveis de origem francesa que possui filiais em diferentes países. Foram entrevistados doze profissionais da empresa que experimentaram o processo de transferência entre países, tanto da matriz francesa para filiais quanto de filiais para a matriz, incluindo-se no grupo indivíduos que viveram o ciclo completo da expatriação, até o retorno ao seu país de origem. Entre outros aspectos, os resultados sugerem que as condições profissionais e de vida pessoal de cada indivíduo podem representar fatores que influenciam a sua adaptação à situação de expatriação de modo até mesmo mais significativo do que as diferenças culturais entre países.

Texto completo da fonteThe PhD dissertation dealt with two kinds of organisational changes that aim at defining paths for future agricultural development in sub-Saharan African countries. Both were related to market, the first concerned cash crop market structure and reforms, the access to second financial markets and more particularly insurances. The two first chapters were dedicated to institutional changes. We looked empirically for supply responses of market reforms in the cotton sector of 16 sub-Saharan African countries. We controlled for the availability of environmental factors on yield and area cultivated with cotton using the average of available precipitations and temperatures during the crop cycle, weighted by density of cotton cultivation over national cotton production zones. We found that reforms leading to regulation and strong competition had a significant impact, both on area and yield (but no significant impact of reforms leading to low competition). In a nutshell, reforms have generally led to higher yields but that introducing strong competition significantly lowered the area cultivated with cotton. The three last chapters concerned a relatively recent organisational innovation designed for fostering investments and technology adoption: weather index-based insurance mechanisms. I studied the potential of index-based insurances in developing countries, using detailed agronomic data on cotton cultivation in Northern Cameroon and millet cultivation in South-West Niger, matched, in both cases, with observations from high density networks of rainfall stations. Those papers compare the performance of various meteorological indices based on daily rainfall data

Texto completo da fonteDue to the inevitability of human-induced climate change, adaptation of human systems has become a priority of municipal political agendas. However, the implementation of actions on reducing the vulnerability of populations and territories to cope with impacts faces several barriers, including cognitive, organizational and institutional ones. As part of this doctoral research, the 83 semi-structured interviews conducted with professional actors in climate change between Paris and Montreal confirm the idea of a mosaic of social representations generated by the term "adaptation to climate change," which gives rise to various interpretations once implementation started. The qualitative analysis of field data, supported by lexicometric tool, allows to a better understanding regarding logic of actions, including some challenging municipal decisions or those behind organizational dynamics. From these results, the research wants to expose the advent of adaptation to climate change in an urban context of major industrialized countries such as Montreal or Paris can not be equated with a change paradigm, but more like a vehicle helping to implement the precepts of sustainable development, initiated by "sustainable" movements in Rio (1992). Thus, although currently specifically identified in the climate topic, adaptation could quickly become an essential tool for participation in the fabric of the city viable
