Chemotherapy often results in cognitive impairment, and no neuroprotective drug is now available. This study aimed to understand underlying neurotoxicological mechanisms of anticancer drugs and to evaluate neuroprotective effects of PAN-811. Primary neurons in different concentrations of antioxidants (AOs) were insulted for 3 days with methotrexate (MTX), 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), or cisplatin (CDDP) in the absence or presence of PAN-811·Cl·H2O. The effect of PAN-811 on the anticancer activity of tested drugs was also examined using mouse and human cancer cells (BNLT3 and H460) to assess any negative interference. Cell membrane integrity, survival, and death and intramitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) were measured. All tested anticancer drugs elicited neurotoxicity only under low levels of AO and elicited a ROS increase. These results suggested that ROS mediates neurotoxicity of tested anticancer drugs. PAN-811 dose-dependently suppressed increased ROS and blocked the neurotoxicity when neurons were insulted with a tested anticancer drug. PAN-811 did not interfere with anticancer activity of anticancer drugs against BNLT3 cells. PAN-811 did not inhibit MTX-induced death of H460 cells but, interestingly, demonstrated a synergistic effect with 5-FU or CDDP in reducing cancer cell viability. Thus, PAN-811 can be a potent drug candidate for chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment.

Introduction: Telephone Triage Services (TTS) manage phone calls from the public regarding general medical problems and provide telephone advice. This telephone based care can overlap with care provided by Poison Centres. Our objective was to examine the impact of a provincial 811 TTS on the IWK Regional Poison Centre (RPC). Methods: This is a retrospective descriptive study using interrupted time series methodology. We compared monthly IWK RPC call volume in the pre-811 era (January 2007-July 2009) and the post-811 era (September 2009-December 2017). We summarized the characteristics of callers who accessed the IWK RPC in terms of client age, sex, intentionality, time of day, call disposition and outcome. Caller characteristics were compared between the pre- and post-811 eras using chi-square test for categorical variables. We used segmented regression analysis to evaluate changes in slope of call volume in the pre- and post 811 eras. The Durbin-Watson statistic was performed to test for serial correlation and the Dickey-Fuller test to investigate seasonality. Results: The dataset included 82683 calls to the IWK RPC – 27028 pre-811 and 55655 post-811. Overall, 55% of calls were for female clients and the largest age group was children aged 0-5 years (37%). Most calls originated from home (47%), followed by a health care facility (23%). Most calls were managed at home (65%). Less than 3% of calls resulted in major effect or death. The Durbin Watson statistic was not statistically significant (p = 0.94). The Dickey-Fuller test indicated series stationarity (p = 0.001). There was no statistically significant change in call volume to the IWK RPC due to the introduction of 811 (p = 0.39). There was no significant variation by time of day, day of week or month, with most calls occurring in the evening. There were significantly more calls regarding intentional ingestions in the post-811 era (23% vs. 19% pre-811, p < .001). Outcomes in the pre and post 811 eras were as follows: minor/no effect/non-toxic/minimal 80% vs. 78%; moderate 7% vs. 10%; and, major/death 1.7% vs. 2.0%. Conclusion: The introduction of a TTS did not change call volumes at our RPC. The increase in the percentage of calls about intentional ingestions may reflect an increase in call acuity as the 811-TTS likely manages calls about minor/non-toxic ingestions without consulting with the RPC. Our future research will examine the nature of poison related calls to the 811-TTS.

Background: Complications and adverse events after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction are well known, but they have been underestimated in previous studies. Purpose: To describe the complications and adverse events after ACL reconstruction within a 2-year follow-up and analyze them in relation to the type of graft. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: From 2000 to 2012, 958 patients with an isolated ACL injury underwent surgery by a single knee surgeon. ACL reconstruction was performed with the medial portal technique for the femoral tunnel and the use of bone–patellar tendon–bone (BPTB) or hamstring tendon graft. Patients were reviewed at 6 weeks and 3, 6, 12, and 24 months after surgery with the International Knee Documentation Committee score, plain radiographs, and the KT-1000 arthrometer. Results: Of 958 patients enrolled, 147 (15%) were lost at last follow-up. The 2 groups (bone–patellar tendon–bone [n = 257] and hamstring [n = 554]) were similar regarding the mean age at the time of surgery and preoperative anterior laxity. The main complications were as follows: anterior knee pain (n = 130 of 811, 16%), stiffness (n = 72, 8.8%), secondary meniscal lesions (n = 59, 7.2%), pain attributed to fixation (n = 79, 9.7%), ACL rerupture (n = 47, 5.7%), contralateral ACL ruptures (n = 24, 3%), patellar fractures (n = 3, 0.3%), infections (n = 9, 1%), and thromboembolic complications (n = 5, 0.6%). There was no significant difference between the grafts with respect to the frequency of joint stiffness, secondary meniscal lesions, or anterior knee pain. During the first 2 postoperative years, the percentage of patients with anterior knee pain was higher in the patellar tendon group (23.3% vs 12.6%, P < .001); however, this difference was not significant after the 2-year interval (3.1% vs 2.5%, P = .63). The percentage of patients with a rerupture of the graft was significantly lower in the patellar tendon group than in the hamstring group (25 of 811 [3.1%] vs 57 of 811 [7%], P = .023). Similar results were recorded regarding the pain related to the hardware material (7 of 811 [0.8%] in the BPTB group vs 113 of 811 [13.9%] in the hamstring group, P = .001). The percentage of ACL ruptures contralateral to the repair was higher in the patellar tendon group (41 of 811 [5%] vs 17 of 811 [2%], P = .016). Conclusion: The total rate of complications after an ACL reconstruction was 39%, and the surgical revision rate for any reason was 28%. Problems with the hardware material were more frequent in the hamstring group, leading to an increased rate of surgical revision. Anterior knee pain was initially higher in the patellar tendon group, but there was no significant difference in a 2-year interval. The rerupture rate was statistically higher in the hamstring group.

Transferrin (Tf) is an iron transport protein expressed in MCF-7 human breast cancer cells. In nuclear run-on assays, 17beta-estradiol (E2) increased the rate of Tf gene expression approximately 3-fold within 1 h after treatment and reporter gene activity was also induced in MCF-7 cells transfected with a construct containing a -3600 to +39 Tf gene promoter insert. Deletion and mutation analysis identified an E2-responsive promoter region between -811 and -762, which was GC-rich (80%) and contained two nonconsensus estrogen response elements (EREs). E2-responsiveness of this region was associated with a GGACA(N)(3)TGGCC motif (-803 to -791) which bound human estrogen receptor alpha (hERalpha) in gel mobility shift assays. In Drosophila Schneider SL-2 cells, the -811 to -752 was E2-responsive after cotransfection with hERalpha expression plasmid plus E2, whereas Sp1 protein did not induce transactivation. These studies confirm that E2 induces Tf gene expression through a nonconsensus distal ERE.

The molecular mechanism for colorectal cancer to develop remains unelucidated. To find biomarkers related to colorectal cancer development, we analyzed the gene expression profile of 380 colorectal cancer patients and 51 healthy controls by R software. Finally, 1579 upregulated differential expression genes (DEGs) and 3218 downregulated DEGs were identified. Then, the top 20 upregulated DEGs were compared with 181 upregulated DEGs that we reported previously, and 11 overlapped DEGs were found. NFE2L3 (nuclear factor, erythroid 2-like 3) was among those overlapped DEGs and was rarely reported in colorectal cancer. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results showed that higher NFE2L3 expression levels were identified in paired tumor samples than in paratumor samples (48 paired samples). Flow cytometry analysis revealed that the cell cycle was arrested at the G0/G1 phase after inhibition of NFE2L3 in both HCT116 and SW480 cell lines. Western blot detection showed that CCND1 and phosphorylated Rb transcriptional corepressor 1 at ser-807/811 (pRb1-ser807/811) expression levels were downregulated when NFE2L3 was inhibited in those two cell lines. A significant positive correlation was observed between NFE2L3 and CCND1 expression levels in colorectal tissue samples. These evidences indicate that downregulation of NFE2L3 induces cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase through downregulation of CCND1 and pRb1-ser807/811.

AbstractThe Ninian Field, located in the northern North Sea, lies in the East Shetland Basin on the west side of the Viking Graben. The field straddles Blocks 3/3 and 3/8 and is developed under a unitization agreement with Chevron UK Limited as operator. The structure is a westward tilted fault block. The estimated original oil-in-place contained in the marine-deltaic sandstones of the Middle Jurassic Brent Group, is 2920 MMBBL, of which an estimated 35 to 40% is recoverable. The oil is a paraffinic-naphthenic type with an API gravity of 36°. The field development consists of three fixed platforms with a total of 109 drilling slots. The natural drive in the field is negligible so that water flooding is required. The production of the Ninian Field started in December 1978 and reached a peak of 315 000 BOPD in the summer of 1982. At the end of 1988 over 811 MMBBL had been produced.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo a produção de exoantígenos H e M das amostras 58, B-679, A-811 e O187 de Histoplasma capsulatum, utilizando o meio NGTA (neopeptona, glicose, tiamina e asparagina) em períodos de cultivo de 1, 2 e 3 meses, a 36ºC, sob agitação constante (50 v.p.m.). Os antígenos brutos foram avaliados contra anti-soro e antígeno de Histoplasma capsulatum de referência (Center for Disease Control), 4 soros de pacientes portadores de paracoccidioidomicose, 7 de histoplasmose e soro hiperimune anti-H. capsulatum produzido em coelhos, através da reação de imunodifusão dupla. Verificou-se que, com exceção de B-679 com 1 mês de crescimento, todos os demais exoantígenos apresentaram as frações H e M de precipitação. Os exoantígenos obtidos de A-811 apresentaram só a banda H. Excetuando-se os exoantígenos 58 e B-679 com 1 mês de crescimento, todos os demais exoantígenos reagiram contra soros de pacientes com histoplasmose. Em relação aos soros de pacientes com paracoccidioidomicose, somente os exoantígenos 58 e O187 não apresentaram reação cruzada. Todos os exoantígenos reagiram frente ao soro hiperimune de coelho anti-H. capsulatum. Para obtenção de exoantígenos de H. capsulatum, sugerimos que as amostras sejam cultivadas sob as condições anteriormente descritas, adotando-se o período de 3 meses de crescimento, utilizando-se exoantígenos de referência como controles da reação.

We characterized the full-length genomes of nine hepatitis C virus genotype 3 (HCV-3) isolates: QC7, QC8, QC9, QC10, QC34, QC88, NE145, NE274 and 811. To the best of our knowledge, NE274 and NE145 were the first full-length genomes for confirming the provisionally assigned subtypes 3d and 3e, respectively, whereas 811 represented the first HCV-3 isolate that had its extreme 3′ UTR terminus sequenced. Based on these full-length genomes, together with 42 references representing eight assigned subtypes and an unclassified variant of HCV-3, and 10 sequences of six other genotypes, a timescaled phylogenetic tree was reconstructed after an evolutionary analysis using a coalescent Bayesian procedure. The results indicated that subtypes 3a, 3d and 3e formed a subset with a common ancestor dated to ~202.89 [95 % highest posterior density (HPD): 160.11, 264.6] years ago. The analysis of all of the HCV-3 sequences as a single lineage resulted in the dating of the divergence time to ~457.81 (95 % HPD: 350.62, 587.53) years ago, whereas the common ancestor of all of the seven HCV genotypes dated to ~780.86 (95 % HPD: 592.15, 1021.34) years ago. As subtype 3h and the unclassified variant were relatives, and represented the oldest HCV-3 lineages with origins in Africa and the Middle East, these findings may indicate the ancestral origin of HCV-3 in Africa. We speculate that the ancestral HCV-3 strains may have been brought to South Asia from Africa by land and/or across the sea to result in its indigenous circulation in that region. The spread was estimated to have occurred in the era after Vasco da Gama had completed his expeditions by sailing along the eastern coast of Africa to India. However, before this era, Arabians had practised slave trading from Africa to the Middle East and South Asia for centuries, which may have mediated the earliest spread of HCV-3.

Abstrak. Tapai merupakan makanan yang dihasilkan dari hasil fermentasi, salah satunya berbahan dasar dari ubi kayu. Fermentasi oleh ragi (saccharomyces serevesiae) menjadikan perubahan kimia pada substrat karena aktivitas enzim yang dihasilkan mikroorganisme. Parameter-parameter yang ditinjau adalah perubahan kadar C6H12O6, gas C2H5OH, gas CO2, suhu dan kelembapan dalam proses fermentasi melalui sistem pengukuran elektronik berbasis mikrokontroller Arduino Uno. Rangkaian sensor mengandung modul input yaitu sensor FC-28, sensor MQ-3, sensor MG-811, sensor DHT-11 dan modul pemroses mikrokontroler ATMEGA238 dengan sistem Arduino Uno dan pada komponen output menggunakan layar LCD 2X16. Kadar karakterisasi berdasarkan keluaran ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) untuk C6H12O6 adalah 535 untuk tapai ubi kayu. Kadar C6H12O6 akan terus menurun dari hari pertama sampai hari keempat yang mencapai 175 pada tapai ubi kayu. Diperoleh nilai akhir kadar gas C2H5OH yaitu 582. Kadar gas CO2 406 untuk tapai ubi. Selanjutnya nilai suhu 31oC untuk tapai ubi dengan nilai kelembaban 95RH. Waktu panen tapai dapat dipersingkat yaitu dari 7 hari menjadi 4 hari. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi pemakaian yang dapat dipergunakan untuk tampilan komposisi tapai secara komersial atau untuk tujuan kesehatan. Abstract. Tapai is food produced from fermentation, one of which is made from cassava. Fermentation by yeast (Saccharomyces serevesiae) causes chemical changes in the substrate due to the activity of enzymes produced by microorganisms. The parameters reviewed are changes in levels of C6H12O6, C2H5OH gas, CO2 gas, temperature and humidity in the fermentation process through an electronic measurement system based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller. The sensor circuit contains an input module, namely FC-28 sensor, MQ-3 sensor, MG-811 sensor, DHT-11 sensor and ATMEGA238 microcontroller processing module with the Arduino Uno system and the output component uses a 2X16 LCD screen. The grade based on the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) output for the C6H12O6 is 535 for cassava tapai. Levels of C6H12O6 will continue to decline from the first day to the fourth day reaching 175 in cassava tapai. Obtained the final value of C2H5OH gas content is 582. CO2 gas content of 406 for cassava tapai. Furthermore, the temperature value of 31oC for cassava tapai with a humidity value of 95RH. The harvest time for tapai can be shortened from 7 days to 4 days. This research is expected to provide usage information that can be used to display tapai composition commercially or for health purposes. We examined the relationship between social physique anxiety (SPA) and physical activity (PA) in 3-generation families, and also looked at gender differences related to SPA and PA. Self-presentation concerns as related to PA were examined by means of SPA in a sample of 811 participants from 218 families and spanning 3 generations. Participants assessed their SPA and recorded their PA over 1 week. Gender differences in SPA appeared across 3 generations such that females had higher SPA levels than did males. Significant correlations appeared between girls and mothers, boys and fathers, husbands and wives, and fathers and their fathers. Nevertheless, PA level was found not to be related to SPA. As correlations were found between parents and their children across 3 generations, changing behavior should be targeted both in schools and in the community.

The antiarrhythmic activity of bis-alkoxyphenyltriazaalkanes 1 and bis-alkoxyphenyldiazaalkanes 2 was analyzed in a model of reperfusion arrhythmia in rats. It was found that the key requirements for the compounds activity in this model are the use of 2,3,4 trimethoxyphenyl aromatic pharmacophores and the presence of a central nitrogen atom in the linker. The most active compounds were ALM-802 (trihydrochloride N1–(2,3,4-trimethoxybenzyl)-N2– {2-[(2,3,4-trimethoxybenzyl)amino]ethyl}-1,2-ethanediamine) and ALM-811 (N1-(2,3,4-trimethoxybenzyl)-N3-{3-[(2,3,4-trimethoxybenzyl)amino]ethyl}-1,3-propanediamine trihydrochloride), which significantly prevented the development of ventricular tachycardias and/or ventricular fibrillation.

A new species of the orphnine scarab beetle genus Madecorphnus Paulian, 1992, Madecorphnus grebennikovi Frolov, Akhmetova & Vishnevskaya, new species, is described from the Marojejy National Park, Sava Region, northeastern Madagascar. The new species can be distinguished from the congeners by the parameres narrowly rounded in lateral view and having a small but distinct lateral teeth, and by the endophallic armature consisting of 1) a long straight sclerite with attached to its end a 2/3 shorted, somewhat curved sclerite, 2) separate smaller, elongate sclerite, and 3) a rather large area of microspinules. The 811 bp long fragment of the mitochondrial gene COI (DNA barcode) is provided as a part of the diagnosis of the new species. An updated key to the Madecorphnus species is given.

Abstract. The northerly Etesian winds are a stable summertime circulation system in the eastern Mediterranean, emerging from a steep pressure gradient between the central Europe and Balkans high-pressure and the Anatolian low-pressure systems. Etesian winds are influenced by the variability in the Indian summer monsoon (ISM), but their sensitivity to external forcing on interannual and longer timescales is not well understood. Here, for the first time, we investigate the sensitivity of Etesian winds to large volcanic eruptions in a set of model simulations over the last millennium and reanalysis of the 20th century. We provide model evidence for significant volcanic signatures, manifested as a robust reduction in the wind speed and the total number of days with Etesian winds in July and August. These are robust responses to all strong eruptions in the last millennium, and in the extreme case of Samalas, the ensemble-mean response suggests a post-eruption summer without Etesians. The significant decline in the number of days with Etesian winds is attributed to the weakening of the ISM in the post-eruption summers, which is associated with a reduced large-scale subsidence and weakened surface pressure gradients in the eastern Mediterranean. Our analysis identifies a stronger sensitivity of Etesian winds to the Northern Hemisphere volcanic forcing, particularly for volcanoes before the 20th century, while for the latest large eruption of Pinatubo modelled and observed responses are insignificant. These findings could improve seasonal predictions of the wind circulation in the eastern Mediterranean in the summers after large volcanic eruptions.

Abstract. The temperatures in large parts of Europe have been record high during the meteorological autumn of 2006. Compared to the 1961–1990 normals it was more than three degrees Celsius warmer from the North side of the Alps to southern Norway. This made it by far the warmest autumn on record in the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, with the records in Central England going back to 1659, in the Netherlands to 1706 and in Denmark to 1768. Also in most of Austria, southern Sweden, southern Norway and parts of Ireland the autumn was the warmest on record. Under the obviously false assumption that the climate does not change, the observed temperatures for 2006 would occur with a probability of less than once every 10 000 years in a large part of Europe, given the distribution defined by the temperatures in the autumn 1901–2005. However, even taking global warming linearly into account the event was still very unusual, with return times of 200 years or more in most of this region using the most conservative extrapolation. Global warming and a southerly circulation were found to give the largest contributions to the anomalous temperature, with minor contributions of more sunshine and SST anomalies in the North Sea. Climate models that simulate the current circulation well do not simulate an increasing probability of warm events in autumn under global warming, implying that it either was a very rare coincidence or some non-linear physics is missing from these models.

Colourless single crystals of Na2TiOS2 were obtained by a fusion reaction of a stoichiometric mixture of Na2S, Na2SO3, titanium-powder and elemental sulphur. Na2TiOS2 is monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 6.861(3), b = 13.610(9), c = 5.733(9) Å, β = 113.24(2)°, Ζ = 4. The crystal structure (R = 0.032, 811 observations, 55 variables) is characterized by infinite anionic chains of TiO2S2-tetrahedra sharing the oxygen atoms (d̄Ti-o = 1.842 Å, d̄Ti-s = 2.227 Å, Ti—O—Ti = 134.3°). The chains are separated from each other by octahedrally coordinated Na+ ions. The structure may be considered as a quaternary variant of the Na2GeS3-structure type.

This work introduces the synthesis of hybrid polymer electrolytes based on polyethylene oxide (PEO) and electrolyte solution bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide lithium salt/ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI/EMIMTFSI) with in situ produced and dispersed silica particles by the sol–gel method. Conventional preparation of solid polymer electrolytes was followed by desolvation of lithium salt in a polymer matrix of PEO, which, in some cases, additionally contains plasticizers. This one-pot synthesis is an alternative route for fabricating a solid polymer electrolyte for solid-state batteries. The presence of TFSI- reduces the crystallinity of the PEO matrix (plasticizing effect), increases the dissociation and solubility of LiTFSI in the PEO matrix because of a highly delocalized charge distribution, and reveals excellent thermal, chemical, and electrochemical stability. Tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) was chosen due to the slow reaction rate, with the addition of (3-glycidyoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GLYMO), which contributes to the formation of a silica network. FTIR studies confirmed the interactions between the silica, the polymer salt, and EMIMTFSI. Impedance spectroscopy measurements were performed in a wide range of temperatures from 25 to 70 °C. The electrochemical performance was explored by assembling electrolytes in LiCoO2 (LCO), NMC(811), and LiFePO4 (LFP) coin half-cells. The HPEf15 shows a discharge capacity of 143 mA/g for NMC(811) at 0.1 C, 134 mA/g for LCO, and 139 mA/g for LFP half-cells at 0.1 C and 55 °C. The LFP half-cell with a discharge capacity of 135 mA/g at 0.1 C (safety potential range of 2.8 to 3.8) obtained a cyclability of 97.5% at 55 °C after 100 cycles. Such a type of electrolyte with high safety and good electrochemical performance provides a potential approach for developing a safer lithium-ion battery.

496 Background: HCC patients (pts) with Child Pugh B (CPB) cirrhosis have poor prognosis and limited treatment (Tx) options. Nivolumab demonstrated durable responses and acceptable safety in Child Pugh A (CPA) HCC in the CheckMate-040 trial with rates of hepatotoxicity similar to non-HCC populations. The safety and efficacy of nivolumab has not been established in pts with CPB cirrhosis. Methods: Design: Retrospective case series with IRB approval. Key eligibility: HCC with CPB cirrhosis; treated with nivolumab as standard Tx; enrolled in the UCSF Hepatobiliary Tissue Bank and Registry. Study endpoints: Safety during nivolumab Tx including all-cause grade(Gr) ≥ 3 adverse events (AE), serious AE (SAE), any grade immune-related (ir)AE, and systemic steroid (SS) requirement; clinical outcomes including time on Tx (TOT) with nivolumab and overall survival (OS). Results: Thirteen pts were included: male 77%; Asian 38%, white 54%; median age 66 (range: 26-86); HCV Ab+ 31%, HBsAg+ 23%; BCLC B/C 31%/69%; median Child-Pugh score 8; median prior systemic Tx 1 (range: 0-6); prior sorafenib 69%, median duration on prior sorafenib 137 days (range 10-341). The Table depicts safety outcomes on nivolumab. Median TOT on nivolumab: 44 days (95% CI: 32, 98) (range: 17-811+). Median OS from start of nivolumab: 119 days (95% CI: 40, 247) (range: 40-811+). Best response of at least stable disease occurred in 3/13 (23%) of patients, including prolonged stable disease (SD) for 6+ months and complete response (CR) for 24+ months on nivolumab (1 pt each). Conclusions: CPB HCC pts treated with nivolumab experienced high rates of all-cause Gr ≥ 3 AE and SAE and short OS, similar to prior studies in CPB HCC. Rates of irAE attributed to nivolumab were similar to rates reported in CheckMate-040 CPA population, without unexpected AE. A subset of pts experienced prolonged stable disease and CR. Nivolumab warrants further study in CPB HCC.[Table: see text]

Many research topics these days involve the study of resonances in different structured media, especially in the field of optics. The seemingly different discovery of cyclotron resonance in metals by Azbel and Kaner in 1956 {Zh. Eksp. Teor. Fiz. 30, 811 (1956) [Sov. Phys. JETP 3, 772 (1956)]} that opened a new way to study the Fermi surface of metals has never been linked to optics. However, some later works of Azbel on resonant tunneling are closely related to the concepts currently developing in optics and photonics, and here I discuss some of those fundamental ideas underpinned by the physics of Fano resonances and bound states in the continuum with a few examples of their experimental demonstrations.

Мета дослідження – вивчення обізнаності жіночого населення Львівської області про роль фолієвої кислоти (ФК) у попередженні вроджених вад розвитку плода (ВВР). Матеріали та методи. Проведено опитування вагітних жінок Львівської області та аналіз 811 анкет респондентів. Вивчали питання стосовно вживання зазначеного препарату: дози (100, 200, 400 або 500 мкг), до та під час даної вагітності, тривалості прийому препарату, до зачаття та перші три місяці вагітності, а також обізнаності населення відносно преконцепційної дії фолієвої кислоти. Результати дослідження та їх обговорення. Аналіз даних анкет показав, що з 811 жінок проживали в місті 622 (76,69 %), а 189 (23,31 %) – в селі. Вивчення паритету вагітності показало, що значно більше було жінок із І та ІІ вагітністю (48,20 % та 33,97 % відповідно). Найбільш поінформованими про значення ФК були жінки, вагітні вперше (30,83 %) та вдруге (25,40 %), з них значно частіше були жительки міста. Більшість респондентів отримала знання про ФК від медиків – 58,08 %, причому достовірно більше цих жінок було з міста, ніж із села (46,0 % та 12,08 % відповідно, Р<0,001). Лише 40,44 % вживали ФК до вагітності протягом від одного до трьох місяців. Всього близько 1/3 (37,73 %) жінок вживали ФК у дозі 400 мкг. Причому 26,26 % респондентів застосовували препарат протягом 2 місяців до вагітності, та 41,92 % – трьох місяців під час вагітності. Значно частіше це були мешканки міста, ніж села (Р<0,001). Висновки. Встановлено, що серед жіночого населення Львівської області поінформованість про фолієву кислоту як кращу справжню профілактику вроджених аномалій розвитку плода є недостатньою. Це стосується даних про сам препарат, його дозу прийому та термінів і тривалості вживання.

As tecnologias digitais são ferramentas que podem auxiliar em diversos contextos de ensino, principalmente para a educação especial, e no caso desta pesquisa, a discalculia. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar os resultados de um estudo realizado para coletar e avaliar evidências sobre ferramentas computacionais gratuitas que auxiliem alunos com discalculia. Para atingir nosso objetivo, realizamos uma revisão sistemática da literatura, que fornece um método objetivo para identificar as evidências existentes relacionadas a um tema de pesquisa. Os resultados indicam que, dos 811 trabalhos encontrados nas 10 bases de buscas, somente 3 abordaram o uso das tecnologias digitais com crianças com discalculia na educação básica no contexto brasileiro. Nesses 3 trabalhos, foram mapeadas 21 ferramentas computacionais. Observou-se que, em relação a produção do conhecimento sobre as tecnologias digitais e a discalculia para o contexto escolar brasileiro, são poucas as pesquisas realizadas, o que pode dificultar a sua utilização nesse contexto.

The present cross-sectional study aimed to examine the influence of diet on brain creatine (Cr) content by comparing vegetarians with omnivores. Brain Cr content in the posterior cingulate cortex was assessed by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS). Dietary Cr intake was assessed by 3 d food recalls. Vegetarians had lower dietary Cr intake than omnivores (0·03 (sd 0·01) v. 1·34 (sd 0·62) g/d, respectively; P= 0·005). However, vegetarians and omnivores had comparable brain total Cr content (5·999 (sd 0·811) v. 5·917 (sd 0·665) IU, respectively; P= 0·77). In conclusion, dietary Cr did not influence brain Cr content in healthy individuals, suggesting that in normal conditions brain is dependent on its own Cr synthesis.

The main purpose of the study is to identify active strains by screening lactic acid bacteria that have a positive effect on internal hollow organs damaged by alcoholic beverages. The probiotic product contains active isolates. They are active individually or as part of a consortium. The object of scientific research was mare's milk, koumiss, shubat, yogurt, kefir. During the research, 16 pure cultures of lactic acid bacteria were isolated from lactic acid products. Their antibiotic resistance and antimicrobial activity have been studied. The study revealed 8 isolates with high probiotic activity. Active isolates were identified using the MALDI-TOF Biotyper Bruker mass spectrometer and it was found that they belong to the following Lactobacillus: L. casei, L. paracasei, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus, L. acidophylus, L. brevis, L. fermentum. Active strains (Lactobacillus casei d-3, Lactobacillus paracasei S-612, Lactobacillus plantarum S-106, Lactobacillus plantarum S-414, Lactobacillus rhamnosusS-811, Lactobacillus acidophylus S-1, Lactobacillus brevis S-2, Lactobacillus fermentum d-4) were selected to create the necessary consortium for probiotic a product used to repair internal hollow organs damaged by alcoholic beverages. Зерттеудің негізгі мақсаты – алкогольдік сусындармен зақымдалған ішкі ағза қуыс мүшелеріне оң әсер ететін сүтқышқылды бактерияларға скрининг жүргізу арқылы белсенді штаммдарды анықтау. Abstract Background Prophylactic medication following ileocecal resection (ICR) is recommended in patients with Crohn’s disease (CD), particularly in patients at increased risk of recurrence. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of prophylactic medication on long-term prognosis. Methods A retrospective cohort study was performed in patients with CD who underwent a primary ICR. Patients were divided into two groups: prophylaxis (i.e. initiation of prophylactic medication<12 weeks following ICR) versus no prophylaxis. The primary and secondary outcomes were surgical recurrence and severe endoscopic recurrence (modified Rutgeerts score ≥ i3). To compare the outcomes between both groups, inverse propensity score-weighted comparison was used to adjust for confounding and selection bias. The survival and association between prophylaxis and both outcomes were assessed with Kaplan-Meier analyses and Cox proportional hazard models. Results 811 patients underwent an ICR [median follow-up 5.8 years (IQR 2.5 – 10.7)](Table 1). Prophylaxis was initiated in 297/811 [37%] patients. In 364/514 [71%] patients without prophylaxis, medication was started after median follow-up 15 months [IQR 7.2 – 46.5]. Cumulative rates of surgical and endoscopic recurrence at 1, 2, 5 and 10 years were significantly lower in patients with prophylaxis versus no prophylaxis [1%, 3%, 9% and 19%, vs. 3%, 4%, 11% and 23%, p < 0.05] and [4%, 8%, 15% and 27% vs. 10%, 16%, 25% and 40%, p < 0.01]. Propensity-scored weighted analysis showed that patients treated with prophylaxis were less likely to experience surgical recurrence [aOR 0.52; 95% CI 0.33 – 0.82] and severe endoscopic recurrence[aOR 0.53; 95% CI 0.35 – 0.81]. In multivariable analysis, prophylaxis was identified as protective factor for surgical [aHR 0.67, 95% CI 0.45 – 0.99] and severe endoscopic recurrence [aHR 0.54, 95% CI 0.37 – 0.78] (Table 2). Conclusion Surgical and severe endoscopic recurrence up to 10 years following primary ICR are significantly reduced in patients with CD who received prophylaxis as compared to no prophylaxis. Prophylaxis was associated with the prevention of surgical and severe endoscopic recurrence.

Pencemaran udara dapat terjadi di dalam ruangan, salah satu sumbernya adalah respirasi manusia. Respirasi mengeluarkan gas karbon dioksida yang dapat menyebabkan keracunan jika dihirup berlebihan. Keracunan karbon dioksida dapat menyebabkan berbagai penyakit hingga kematian. Maka dibuatlah alat pendeteksi kadar karbon dioksida agar menghindari terjadinya keracunan dilengkapi exhaust sebagai alat mengurangi kadar karbon dioksida dan aplikasi telegram sebagai media informasi. Sistem menggunakan input sensor MG-811 sebagai deteksi kadar karbon dioksida dengan tingkat akurasi sangat tinggi dibandingkan jenis sensor lainnya dan sensor HC-SR04 untuk mendeteksi jumlah orang. Exhaust sebagai output menggunakan metode Logika Fuzzy Mamdani untuk menentukan lama exhaust aktif. Pengujian dilakukan dengan 3 kategori yaitu 3 orang, 5 orang, dan 9 orang. Hasil pengujian Rules Fuzzy pada sistem hanya memiliki error 1,09% dibandingkan MATLAB, nilai tersebut dapat dikategorikan sangat kecil. Selanjutnya jumlah ideal orang untuk ruangan 3x4 meter adalah kurang dari 5 orang untuk menghindari terjadinya keracunan akibat gas karbon dioksida

Despite recommendations against routine imaging, chest radiography (CXR) is frequently performed on infants hospitalized for bronchiolitis. We conducted a review of 811 infants hospitalized for bronchiolitis to identify clinical factors associated with imaging findings. CXR was performed on 553 (68%) infants either on presentation or during hospitalization; 466 readings (84%) were normal or consistent with viral illness. Clinical factors significantly associated with normal/viral imaging were normal temperature (odds ratio = 1.66; 95% CI = 1.03-2.67) and normal oxygen saturation (odds ratio = 1.77; 95% CI = 1.1-2.83) on presentation. Afebrile patients with normal oxygen saturations were nearly 3 times as likely to have a normal/viral CXR as patients with both fever and hypoxia. Our findings support the limited role of radiography in the evaluation of hospitalized infants with bronchiolitis, especially patients without fever or hypoxia.

In the course of the study, the mathematical expectation for each of the intervals, as well as the spectral density equation for the degree of gas pressure increase and the spectral density equation for the performance of the centrifugal supercharger of the gaspumping unit, were determined at appropriate intervals. To gain insights into the structure and function of the wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genomes, we identified 278 ESTs related to abiotic stress (cold, heat, drought, salinity, and aluminum) from 7671 ESTs previously mapped to wheat chromosomes. Of the 278 abiotic stress related ESTs, 259 (811 loci) were assigned to chromosome deletion bins and analyzed for their distribution pattern among the 7 homoeologous chromosome groups. Distribution of abiotic stress related EST loci were not uniform throughout the different regions of the chromosomes of the 3 wheat genomes. Both the short and long arms of group 4 chromosomes showed a higher number of loci in their distal regions compared with proximal regions. Of the 811 loci, the number of mapped loci on the A, B, and D genomes were 258, 281, and 272, respectively. The highest number of abiotic stress related loci were found in homoeologous chromosome group 2 (142 loci) and the lowest number were found in group 6 (94 loci). When considering the genome-specific ESTs, the B genome showed the highest number of unique ESTs (7 loci), while none were found in the D genome. Similarly, considering homoeologous group-specific ESTs, group 2 showed the highest number with 16 unique ESTs (58 loci), followed by group 4 with 9 unique ESTs (33 loci). Many of the classified proteins fell into the biological process categories associated with metabolism, cell growth, and cell maintenance. Most of the mapped ESTs fell into the category of enzyme activity (28%), followed by binding activity (27%). Enzymes related to abiotic stress such as β-galactosidase, peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and trehalose-6-phosphate synthase were identified. The comparison of stress-responsive ESTs with genomic sequences of rice (Oryza sativa L.) chromosomes revealed the complexities of colinearity. This bin map provides insight into the structural and functional details of wheat genomic regions in relation to abiotic stress.

In the 2-year, phase 3 CARE-MS studies of alemtuzumab in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, infusion-associated reactions (IARs) were the most common adverse events. Here we report on IARs during 4-year follow-up. Patients who were treatment-naive (CARE-MS I; NCT00530348) or with inadequate efficacy response to prior therapy (CARE-MS II; NCT00548405) received 2 annual courses of alemtuzumab 12 mg, and as-needed retreatment in an extension study (NCT00930553). Patients received methylprednisolone on the first 3 days of each course. IARs were any adverse event occurring between start of infusion and within 24 hours after end of infusion. 742/811 alemtuzumab-treated patients entered extension. Over 4 years, 70.4% received only 2 initial treatment courses; 22.6% and 6.1% received 3 and 4 courses, respectively. IARs were most frequent in Course 1 (84.7%) versus Courses 2 (68.5%), 3 (65.7%), and 4 (71.1%); frequency decreased on infusion Days 2 and 3 versus Day 1. IARs were predominantly mild to moderate; none led to study withdrawal or death. Serious IAR incidence was 3.1%. Most common IARs were skin disorders (predominantly rash), headache, pyrexia, and nausea. One confirmed anaphylaxis and one non-anaphylactoid hypotension event resolved with treatment. Effective IAR management included premedication, infusion monitoring, symptomatic treatment, and infusion interruption/adjustment.

Resumo:

This research discusses citation analysis that can be used as a tool for evaluating library collections. The aim is to investigate the type, author, half-life, and availability of literature being cited and also the different numbers of certain literature used in the final assignments of D-3 Library students. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with the research population of all final assignments of D-3 Library students from 2017-2020, amounting to 71. The writer used a documentation techniques to collect the data. The results show that the literature cited books are 686 (68.39%), theses/thesis/final assignments are 156 (16%), journals are 72 (7.18%), websites are 61 (6%), laws as many as 21 (2.09%), as many as 7 dictionaries (0.7%). The most frequently cited authors were Sugiyono with 44 citations and Sulistyo Basuki with 35 citations. The half-life of the citation literature was 4 years. The availability of cited literature was 811 (81%). For every year, literature has a different number in usage. There were some enhancements in the use of books, journals, and internet websites in 2017-2020.
