Jan Grzegorzewski (ok. 1846-1922) był publicystą i badaczem. Studiował slawistykę w Odessie. Od 1870 przebywał we Lwowie, Stambule, Bułgarii, Krakowie, Zakopanem. Prowadził w Sofii Instytut Hyacinteum (1904-1915). Ostatnie lata życia (1916-1922) spędził w Polsce. Badał folklor Spisza i Podhala. Publikował prace popularne i naukowe. Dzięki otrzymaniu subsydium z Kasy im. Mianowskiego, wraz z orientalistami A. Gawrońskim, W. Kotwiczem i J. Rozwadowskim, rozpoczął wydawanie naukowego periodyku „Rocznik Orientalistyczny (t.1, 1914-1918). Był współzałożycielem Polskiego Towarzystwa Orientalistycznego (1922). Opublikował dokumenty dotyczące stosunków polsko-tatarskich w XVII-XVIII w. Lata 1920-1922 poświęcił badaniu kultury i języka Karaimów w Haliczu. Dużo zebranych materiałów pozostawił w rękach wykształconych Karaimów halickich. Zachowane we Lwowie i Haliczu papiery po J. Grzegorzewskim zbadał T. Kowalski (1934). Mają one dużą wartość naukową.

In veel beschouwingen over onze huidige samenleving valt de term ‘vertrouwenscrisis’. Het begrip vertrouwen speelt een fundamentele rol in de theologie van Wilhelm Herrmann (1846-1922), die niet alleen de interpersoonlijke of sociale kant van vertrouwen belicht, maar ook het religieuze aspect daarvan. Vertrouwen opent het zicht op transcendentie. Herrmanns theologie is geworteld in het cultuurprotestantisme van de 19e eeuw, maar kan opnieuw belicht worden vanuit het perspectief van een publieke theologie, die zich richt op het belang van religieuze opvattingen voor het publieke debat.

We herein provide an annotated checklist for the Iranian Dasytidae and Rhadalidae (Coleoptera: Cleroidea). A total of 54 species and three subspecies of Dasytidae in 16 genera, four tribes and three subfamilies, and 11 species of Rhadalidae in five genera and three subfamilies are reported and discussed where necessary. Of these, 27 (sub-) species of Dasytidae (48%) and eight species of Rhadalidae (73%) are currently known only from Iran, and are here considered as endemic species. However, some species occurences are doubtful or need confirmation. One species (Dasytes xanthocnemus Kolenati, 1846) is reported from Iran for the first time. Furthermore, Danacea micans astrabadensis Pic, 1922 is resurrected from synonymy and given subspecific status.

The first catalogue of the Romanian Cholevinae (excluding Leptodirini) is presented, based on revised and new records. The overall distribution and distribution in Romania are documented for every species, with particular reference to subterranean environment (caves and subterranean superficial environment). Epigeal and hypogeal records are listed separately. Thirty two of forty nine species group taxa recorded in the Romanian fauna occur both in the epigeal and subterranean environment, 14 of them frequently recorded in the latter. Many species, dependant on the subterranean environment during certain stages of their life cycle, are considered troglophilic or subtroglophilic: Choleva cisteloides dacica Jeannel 1922, Ch. glauca Britten, 1918, Catops picipes Fabricius, 1792, C. longulus Kellner, 1846 and C. tristis Panzer, 1874. The Romanian fauna of Cholevinae is more similar to that of the Central Europe than the Balkan Peninsula.

There are fi ve species of the genus Pyrrhulina Valenciennes, in Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1846 and four species of the genus Copella Myers, 1965 in the north eastern part of South America up to now. P. fi lamentosa Valenciennes, 1846 – the type-species – and P. lugubris Eigenmann, 1922 are re-described. The relationships of P. stoli Boeseman, 1953 are discussed. The three taxa of the genus Copella (formerly Copeina) arnoldi, C. eigenmanni and C. carsevennensis established by Regan (1912) are re-described and compared. The type specimens of these three taxa are juvenil or semiadult fishes in poor conditions. A type locality is designated for C. arnoldi (Ilha do Arapiranga, Brazil, Para). This species was only known from aquarium fishes up to date. The designation was possible because of the discovery of specimens which were imported for aquarists in 1928 from this locality. C. eigenmanni comprises type specimens from different localities which represent different species (C. arnoldi from Brazil, Para, C. metae from Colombia and C. carsevennensis from Guyana). A lectotypus is designated for C. eigenmanni from the type specimens collected in Colombia. Copeina metae Eigenmann, 1914 is now a junior synonym of Copeina eigenmanni Regan, 1912. Now we know exactly which species C. eigenmanni represents. If there are other undescribed species from this region (estuary mouth of the Amazon) so the species can be better characterized by new adult specimens. C. carsevennensis lives in the Guyana countries sympatricaly with Pyrrhulina fi lamentosa. Copella callolepis (Regan, 1912) is a valid species. It was called C. spec. aff. meinkeni by Zarske & Géry (2006).

Quenching my thirst for God: On Johann Wilhelm Herrmann’s understanding of the experience of God (Part II) This article, which is divided into two parts, focusses on the concept of the “experience of God” as understood by the German systematic theologian Wilhelm Herrmann (1846 - 1922) of Marburg in his “Der Verkehr des Christen mit Gott” (1886). The first part of the article which was published in the previous edition, explained the historical and theological context of Herrmann’s “Der Verkehr...” as well as the theological frontiers over-against which he responded in his understanding of the experience of God, characterized as a “searchfind-experience”. This second part elaborates on this “search-find-experience” by humans of God as understood by Herrmann, and indicates the influence it had on Herrmann’s two greatest pupils, namely Karl Barth and Rudolf Bultmann. It is argued that Herrmann’s understanding of the experience of God makes up the kernel of their theological vantage points, and in this respect, is critically evaluated.

An annotated list of 31 spider species of 12 families collected in Northeasten, Easten and Southern Ukraine is presented. Four speceis, Marinarozelotes manychensis (Ponomarev & Tsvetkov, 2006), Turkоzelotes kazachstanicus (Ponomarev et Tsvetkov, 2006), Zelotes atrocaeruleus (Simon, 1878), and Z. puritanus Chamberlin, 1922, are recorded for the first time from Ukraine. For Micaria coarctata (Lucas, 1846), this is the first record from the East European Plain. Nine species were recorded for the first time from Left-Bank Ukraine. To date, 1081 spider species are known from Ukraine and 757 species from Left-Bank Ukraine. Bsed on recent data, the northern boundaries of the geographic ranges of Drassyllus crimeaensis Kovblyuk, 2003 and Bassanioides caperatus (Simon, 1875) run along the northern coast of the Sea of Azov. For Marinarozelotes manychensis and Turkоzelotes kazachstanicus the northwestern coast of the Sea of Azov is the westernmost known limits of their distiribution. The range of Heriaeus horridus Tyschchenko, 1965 is delimited in the west by the right bank of the Dnieper estuary. Thirteen species are illlustrted.

<p align="center"><strong>Abstract</strong> </p><p align="justify">This article discusses the neglect of matrilineal tradition by Pariaman society during the colonial era (1846-1922), based on a study of autobiography written by Me’ Saleh gala Datoe’ Oerang Kajo Basa. The book entitled Tjoerito Parasaian Me’ Saleh is a family historical note of successful trader in Pariaman. The society in Pariaman is known as heterogeneous in terms of ethnicity, cultures, and religion, in contrast to <em>darek</em> society that is known as homogeneous in the mentioned fields. The heterogeneity of the Pariaman society then forms a social relational pattern and it is a different form compared to the <em>darek</em> society. The autobiography illustrates that the cultural characteristics of Pariaman society in the beginning was formed by their interaction with foreign people from Aceh, Nias, Bugis, India, China, Madura, Arab, and European countries. Since then they became an open minded people and easy to adapt with new influences. This condition resulted some matrilineal tradition applied in darek was not implemented and obeyed in <em>rantau</em>. </p>

Many women and women-run associations were involved in historical urban beautification in the United States, especially tree planting, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. While men had formal roles as city foresters, arborists, horticulturalists, and landscape architects, women from elite families sometimes labored for free to organize and advocate for urban tree planting. Tightly knit social circles of high-society women in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, yielded much greater influence in nascent tree planting and park creation movements than has generally been recognized. They often contributed their time, finances, input, and skill to landscape planting projects; however, they were not considered equal to the men who were compensated employees. These women planted, plotted, studied, and persevered, overcoming preconceived notions of womanhood, although their meaningful efforts were often viewed as merely an offshoot of their feminine domestic role. For women, limited by opportunities in male-dominated arenas, shaping their cities was a socially accepted means for empowerment. Ellen Waln Harrison (1846 to 1922) was a key figure in civic beautification in her hometown of Philadelphia and beyond. Ellen Harrison was married to Charles Custis Harrison, Provost of the University of Pennsylvania, and she personally oversaw campus landscaping efforts, and was referred to as his “right hand.” Her story is emblematic of a larger trend regarding women in botany, horticulture, and urban forestry around the turn of the 20th century.

As a result of a study conducted in 2018, 41 species of ground beetles from 23 genera were identified in the Ushachsky District of the Vitebsk Region (Belarusian Lakeland) as a part of ground beetle assemblages of meadow biocenosis with clogging by the invasive Sosnovsky’s hogweed, whereas without clogging with hogweed 38 species from 21 genera were identified. Species Notiophilus biguttatus (Fabricius, 1779), Dyschiriodes globosus (Herbst, 1784), Bembidion quadrimaculatum (Linnaeus, 1761), Pterostichus oblongopunctatus (Fabricius, 1787), P. minor (Gyllenhal, 1827), P. nigrita (Paykull, 1790), Platynus assimilis (Paykull, 1790), P. krynickii (Sperk, 1835), Bradycellus caucasicus (Chaudoir, 1846), Ophonus laticollis (Mannerheim, 1825), Harpalus latus (Linnaeus, 1758), H. progrediens (Schauberger, 1922), Badister bullatus (Schrank, 1798) were recorded only in the biocenosis with clogging with hogweed. The species richness and the value of the biodiversity index of the ground beetle assemblages of the meadow biocenosis with clogging with hogweed were higher than these parameters of the ground beetle assemblages of the meadow biocenosis without hogweed. In the conditions of invasive hogweed thickets stratobionts boreholes dominated in the ground beetle assemblages (relative abundance 28.57 %), the participation of eurytopic (6 species, 20.37 %) and forest species (7 species, 12.01 %) was high, with a decrease in the share of participation meadow species (3 species, 1.37 %). For the biocenosis littered with hogweed, a high proportion of mesophiles (19 species, 52.44 %) was observed, against the background of a low proportion of mesogyrophils (9 species, 37.69 %).

La Comarca Lagunera se caracteriza por una extrema variación en la disponibilidad de agua y por la carencia de datos climáticos amplios. Para extender en el tiempo las series de precipitación y de flujo; además de analizar la variabilidad hidroclimática de alta y baja frecuencia en la cuenca baja del río Nazas, se aplicó un modelo regresivo a partir de series dendrocronológicas de Taxodium mucronatum. La cronología generada superó los 500 años (1500 – 2003) y al compararla con la precipitación regional de verano (julio-septiembre) correlacionó significativamente (r = 0.83, p<0.0001). Una respuesta similar se obtuvo con el flujo estacional otoño-invierno (agosto-febrero), (r = 0.94, p<0.0001), con lo que se hizo la reconstrucción de las variables indicadas. La de precipitación mostró alta variabilidad interanual y multianual; sequías recurrentes sucedieron en los periodos: 1509-1520, 1548-1559, 1621-1622, 1684-1691,1758-1763, 1784-1789, 1809-181, 1846-1849, 1860-1865, 1922-1923, 1949-1956, 1962-1963, 1981-1985 y 1995-2000. Eventos húmedos con precipitación superior al 100% de la media reconstruida se presentaron en los años 1526, 1649, 1791, 1830 y 1991. Flujos reconstruidos con gasto extraordinario estuvieron ligados con el fenómeno de El Niño en su fase cálida, como los ocurridos en: 1717, 1725, 1752, 1805, 1855, 1870, 1880, 1888, 1894, 1904, 1925, 1947, 1958 1968, 1974 y 1991. Esta información puede ser usada por los administradores del agua y tomadores de decisiones en la Comarca Lagunera, para establecer la frecuencia de sequías y de avenidas extraordinarias con fines de manejo del recurso hídrico en la región.

Rorqual whales are among the most species rich group of baleen whales (or mysticetes) alive today, yet the monophyly of the traditional grouping (i.e., Balaenopteridae) remains unclear. Additionally, many fossil mysticetes putatively assigned to either Balaenopteridae or Balaenopteroidea may actually belong to stem lineages, although many of these fossil taxa suffer from inadequate descriptions of fragmentary skeletal material. Here we provide a redescription of the holotype of Megaptera miocaena, a fossil balaenopteroid from the Monterey Formation of California, which consists of a partial cranium, a fragment of the rostrum, a single vertebra, and both tympanoperiotics. Kellogg (1922) assigned the type specimen to the genus Megaptera Gray (1846), on the basis of its broad similarities to distinctive traits in the cranium of extant humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae (Borowski, 1781)). Subsequent phylogenetic analyses have found these two species as sister taxa in morphological datasets alone; the most recent systematic analyses using both molecular and morphological data sets place Megaptera miocaena as a stem balaenopteroid unrelated to humpback whales. Here, we redescribe the type specimen of Megaptera miocaena in the context of other fossil balaenopteroids discovered nearly a century since Kellogg’s original description and provide a morphological basis for discriminating it from Megaptera novaeangliae. We also provide a new generic name and recombine the taxon as Norrisanima miocaena, gen. nov., to reflect its phylogenetic position outside of crown Balaenopteroidea, unrelated to extant Megaptera. Lastly, we refine the stratigraphic age of Norrisanima miocaena, based on associated microfossils to a Tortonian age (7.6–7.3 Ma), which carries implications for understanding the origin of key features associated with feeding and body size evolution in this group of whales.

There are two theories about the lyricist of A framed picture written on the south and north sides of Independence Gate. It was written by Lee Wan-yong(1858-1926), who was patriotic but degenerated into a traitor, and by Dongnong Kim Ga-jin(1846-1922), who devoted himself to modernization of Joseon and campaigned for independence until he turned his back on the world. Independence Gate is a national monument modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris in the form of a 14.2m high and 11.48m wide stone gate that greeted the envoys of Cheong since the Independence Association advocated the construction of Independence Gate in 1896. The south side of Independence Gate is engraved in Korean, and The north side is engraved with three letters of Independence Gate in Chinese characters. As both Lee Wan-yong and Kim Ga-jin were known as the best handwritings of the time, it is highly likely that they wrote the compilation of the Independence Gate. In addition, Lee Wan-yong was the chairman of the Independent Association and the foreign minister of the Joseon government at the time of the establishment of the Independent Gate, and Kim Ga-jin was also a member of the Independent Association and a high-ranking official of Joseon. Therefore, it is considered reasonable to interpret the answer to who wrote the compilation of the independent text in a calligraphy manner through the genuine enemies left by Lee Wan-yong and Kim Ga-jin. Therefore, this paper analyzes the calligraphy context of Lee Wan-yong and Kim Ga-jin and the font characteristics of similar handwriting left by them based on two different theories about independent writers.

Artists are responding very differently to the COVID-19 around the world. In Japan, this has been manifested in artistic production of the mythical creature called Amabie, one of the yōkai. Most often, it appears as a mermaid, with both animal and human features recognizable by its three limbs, long hair, beak-like mouth and body covered by scales. This is a mythical character which, according to legend, allegedly predicted the plague and advised people to share drawings of its image with each other, thus protecting them from diseases. The character was documented for the first time in 1846 in one of the early kawaraban newspapers. This paper presents a new wave of Amabie that overran social media when COVID-19 seriously affected Japan. The author focuses on the world of art, where the character distinctly stepped to the fore, and examines the characteristics of Amabie’s interpretation by selected artists. One of the first to attract special attention in this respect is the artist Shigeru Mizuki (1922–2015), a master of the yōkai genre, whose comic book featuring Amabie was revived in the midst of the pandemic. He was followed by other illustrators, designers and artists or groups of artists. Utilization of the character of Amabie as a talisman, however, is specific not only of the artists’ domain. The mass popularization of the character, including drawings, puppets, paper sculptures, costumes, sweets, tattoos and the like can be followed through all kinds of social media. The paper attempts to lay stress on the phenomenon of the struggle of Japanese society with COVID-19 through the prism of popularizing Amabie folklore, which has become in the last few months an internet meme and mascot of pop culture that has spread around the entire world.

Research objectives: Attribution and description of the anonymous manuscript, conventionally named “History of Crimea”, from the collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Research materials: Anonymous manuscript “History of Crimea”, kept in the collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences under the signature B 747. Results and novelty of research: The manuscript is a miscellany of various information about the Crimean Khanate, as well international relations, mainly between Russia and Turkey. In 1881, its Ottoman-Turkish text in Arabic script was published by the famous Russian researcher Vasiliy D. Smirnov (1846–1922), on the basis of the St. Petersburg copy, with corrections made according to the copy kept in Paris. V.D. Smirnov made several assumptions on who was the author of the text. The analysis showed the correctness of one of his assumptions, namely that the author – compiler of the text was Kesbî, the Turkish official from the second half of the eighteenth century. The identification of the author became possible due to the appearance of studies on the written heritage of Kesbi in recent decades, primarily the works of A. Ogreten. The comparison of B 747 with the text of “İbretnüma-yı devlet” (“Instruction to the State”, 1213 AH (1798–99 CE)) published by Ahmet Öğreten in 2002, leaves no doubt that the “History of Crimea” is the St. Petersburg copy of the aforesaid manuscript. In recent years, new hypotheses also appeared concerning the author, disputing the opinion of A. Öğreten and aiming to show that the miscellany was compiled not by Mustafa Kesbî, but by another Ottoman official, who wrote under the pseudonym Kesbî, Mehmed Haşim. At the same time, the text of the St. Petersburg copy of “İbretnüma-yı devlet” published by V.D. Smirnov 140 years ago, as well as the copy of the manuscript kept in Paris, still remains out of sight of Turkish specialists engaged in the study of this written text.

The Haplodrassus species of the the Maghreb are revised. Six new species are described: H. dentifer Bosmans & Abrous, sp. n. (♂♀, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Spain), H. longivulva Bosmans & Hervé, sp. n. (♂♀, Algeria, Morocco), H. lyndae Abrous & Bosmans, sp. n. (♂♀, Algeria, Morocco, Spain), H. ovatus Bosmans & Hervé, sp. n. (Tunisia, Algeria), H. securifer Bosmans & Abrous, sp. n. (♂♀, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium) and H. triangularis Bosmans, sp. n. (♂♀, Morocco, Tunisia). The following new synonyms are proposed. Drassus corticalis Lucas, 1846, syn. n. and Drassus similis C.L. Koch, 1866, syn. n. were found to be junior synonyms of Drassus rufipes Lucas, 1846. Drassus parvulus L. Koch 1882, Drassodes acrotirius Roewer, 1928, Drassodes seditiosus Caporiacco, 1928, Drassodes parvicorpus Roewer, 1951 and Haplodrassus maroccanus Denis, 1956 are junior synonyms of Drassus omissus O.P.-Cambridge, 1872 syn. n. and this species is transferred to Haplodrassus comb. n. (taken out of the synonymy with H. morosus (O.P.-Cambridge, 1872, contra Levy, 2004). Drassodes nigroscriptus deminutus Simon, 1909 and Drassodes nigroscriptus Simon, 1909 are synonyms and the species is transferred to Haplodrassus comb. n. Haplodrassus isaevi Ponomarev & Tsvetkov, 2006 is a junior synonym of Haplodrassus orientalis (L. Koch), 1866 syn. n. comb. n. H. macellinus hebes (O.P.- Cambridge, 1874) is a synonym of Haplodrassus macellinus (Thorell, 1871) syn. n. Haplodrassus vignai Di Franco, 1996 is a synonym of H. macellinus (Thorell, 1871) (taken out of the synonymy of H. invalidus O.P.-Cambridge, 1872, contra Levy, 2004). H. gridellii Caporiacco, 1949 is taken out of the synonymy with H. pugnans (Simon, 1880) and synonymized with H. rufipes (Lucas, 1846) syn. n. (contra Levy, 2004). The following new combinations are proposed. Drassodes rhodanicus Simon, 1914 = Haplodrassus rhodanicus (Simon, 1914), comb. n. Drassus crassipes Lucas, 1846 = Haplodrassus crassipes (Lucas, 1846) comb. n. The following new status is proposed: Haplodrassus typhon (Simon, 1878) is removed from the synonymy of H. macellinus Thorel, 1871, is declared a valid species, a female lectotype is designated and the unknown male is described. Drassodes severus L. Koch, 1839 and Drassodes spinicrus Caporiacco, 1928 are declared nomina dubia. The female of H. rhodanicus is described for the first time, and the male illustrated for the first time. All Haplodrassus species occurring in the Maghreb are redescribed as well as Haplodrassus macellinus (Thorell, 1871), only occurring in S.W. Europe and deleted from the North African list. New distribution data and photos of other European Haplodrassus species are presented.

Xylophile Latreille, 1825 is confirmed to be a vernacular unavailable name, whereas Xylophilus Latreille, 1829 (type species Notoxus populneus Creutzer, 1796) is a synonym of Aderus Stephens, 1829 n. syn. Xylophilus Curtis, 1830 (type species Anthicus oculatus Paykull, 1798), is removed from synonymy with Aderus Stephens, 1829 and is established to be an objective synonym of Euglenes Westwood, 1830 n. syn. Xylophilus bimaculatus is confirmed to be only a subsequent incorrect spelling (unavailable name) of X. bisbimaculatus Hampe, 1850. Euglenus, Aglenes, Helophilus, Pseudoloterus, Tokyophilus, Tokiophylus, Xilophilus and Xylophylus are established to be subsequent incorrect spellings (unavailable names) of Euglenes Westwood, 1830, Hylophilus Berthold, 1827, Pseudolotelus Pic, 1901, Tokiophilus Pic, 1921 and Xylophilus Latreille, 1829, respectively. Xylophila Lamarck, 1817 is excluded from the Aderidae; a formal assignment of this genus to a family based on a type species selection has not been done.

The total number of species of Lernanthropidae previously recorded from Australian waters is 15 (i.e., one species each of Aethon Krøyer, 1837, Lernanthropodes Bere, 1936, and Lernanthropsis Do, in Ho & Do, 1985; 10 species of Lernanthropus de Blainville, 1822; and two species of Sagum Wilson, 1913), and all of these records are reviewed. We report here the presence of three species of Aethon. One species, A. garricki Hewitt, 1968, is reported from Australian waters for the first time and a new species, A. bicamera sp. nov., is described from the latrid, Latris lineatus (Forster, 1801) caught off South Australia. The genus Lernanthropodes is represented by a single species, L. trachinoti Pillai, 1962. We recognize Chauvanium Kazachenko, Kovaleva, Nguyen & Ngo, 2017 as a subjective synonym of Lernanthropodes and transfer its type and only species C. chauvani Kazachenko, Kovaleva, Nguyen & Ngo, 2017 which becomes Lernanthropodes chauvani (Kazachenko, Kovaleva, Nguyen & Ngo, 2017) n. comb. Lernanthropsis mugilii (Shishido, 1898) is reported here from Mugil cephalus Linnaeus, 1758 sampled in Queensland and in New South Wales. The genus Lernanthropus is the most species rich and we report the presence of 20 nominal species on Australian marine fishes. This total includes six new species: L. alepicolus sp. nov. from Alepes apercna Grant, 1987, L. elegans sp. nov. from Atractoscion aequidens (Cuvier, 1830), L. gnathanodontus sp. nov. from Gnathanodon speciosus (Forsskål, 1775), L. paracruciatus sp. nov. from Protonibea diacanthus (Lacepède, 1802), L. pemphericola sp. nov. from Pempheris compressa (White, 1790), and L. selenotoca sp. nov. from Selenotoca multifasciata (Richardson, 1846). In addition, we report the presence of another four species in Australian waters for the first time: L. abitocephalus Tripathi, 1962, L. cadenati Delamare Deboutteville & Nuñes-Ruivo, 1954, L. microlamini Hewitt, 1968, and L. pomadasysis Rangnekar & Murti, 1961. After reexamination of the types of L. paenulatus Wilson, 1922 held in the USNM, we relegate this species to subjective synonymy with L. seriolii Shishido, 1898. Previous records of L. paenulatus from Australian Seriola species should be reassigned to L. seriolii. Lernanthropus ecclesi Kensley & Grindley, 1973 is recognized as a junior subjective synonym of L. micropterygis Richiardi, 1884, and L. delamarei Marques, 1960, which is based on the male only, is tentatively considered to be a junior subjective synonym of L. micropterygis. Males are described for the first time for three species; L. breviculus Kabata, 1979, L. microlamini and L. mollis Kabata, 1979. A member of the genus Mitrapus Song & Chen, 1976, M. oblongus (Pillai, 1964), is reported from Australia for the first time, on Herklotsichthys castelnaui (Ogilby, 1897) caught off Queensland and New South Wales. Finally, two species of Sagum were previously known from Australia and here we add three more. Two of the newly reported species were originally described as species of Lernanthropus but we formally transfer them here to Sagum as S. lativentris (Heller, 1865) n. comb. and S. sanguineus (Song, in Song & Chen, 1976) n. comb. The males of S. lativentris and S. vespertilio Kabata, 1979 are described for the first time. A key to the females of the 31 species of lernanthropids found in Australian waters is provided.

Este artigo apresenta esquema didático e crítico, a partir do Método de Marx, das teorias Positivistas, Funcionalistas, Estruturalistas e Pós-Modernistas. Conclui que a dialética, a contradição e a totalidade permitem compreender que a educação e o ensino são determinados pelas condições de produção e distribuição, sem que essa suposição signifique uma posição mecânica, imobilistica ou idealista. A review of genus-group names for darkling beetles in the family Tenebrionidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) is presented. A catalogue of 4122 nomenclaturally available genus-group names, representing 2307 valid genera (33 of which are extinct) and 761 valid subgenera, is given. For each name the author, date, page number, gender, type species, type fixation, current status, and first synonymy (when the name is a synonym) are provided. Genus-group names in this family are also recorded in a classification framework, along with data on the distribution of valid genera and subgenera within major biogeographical realms. A list of 535 unavailable genus-group names (e.g., incorrect subsequent spellings) is included. Notes on the date of publication of references cited herein are given, when known. More than 4700 nominal family-group names (including names for fossils and ichnotaxa) are nomenclaturally available in the order Coleoptera. Since each family-group name is based on the concept of its type genus, we argue that the stability of names used for the classification of beetles depends on accurate nomenclatural data for each type genus. Following a review of taxonomic literature, with a focus on works that potentially contain type species designations, we provide a synthesis of nomenclatural data associated with the type genus of each nomenclaturally available family-group name in Coleoptera. For each type genus the author(s), year of publication, and page number are given as well as its current status (i.e., whether treated as valid or not) and current classification. Information about the type species of each type genus and the type species fixation (i.e., fixed originally or subsequently, and if subsequently, by whom) is also given. The original spelling of the family-group name that is based on each type genus is included, with its author(s), year, and stem. We append a list of nomenclaturally available family-group names presented in a classification scheme. Because of the importance of the Principle of Priority in zoological nomenclature, we provide information on the date of publication of the references cited in this work, when known. Several nomenclatural issues emerged during the course of this work. We therefore appeal to the community of coleopterists to submit applications to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (henceforth “Commission”) in order to permanently resolve some of the problems outlined here. Based on my revision of the types of Nearctic aleocharine staphylinids numerous nomenclatural and taxonomic changes are proposed. The paper presents vitas of two famous Russian scholars: Dymitr N. Sobolew (1872–1949) and Nikołaj J. Krisztafowicz (1866–1941), who worked 20 years in Poland and produced a more complete understanding of country’s geological structure. Their scientific contributions were closely connected with their preceptors and fellow workers: petrographer and mineralogist Aleksandr J. Lagorio (1852–1922), geologist and paleontologist Włodzimierz P. Amalicki (1860–1917), and geologist and soil scientist Wasilij W. Dokuczajew (1846–1903).

Предметом статьи является философское и художественное переосмысление Андреем Белым открытий, совершенных на рубеже XIX и ΧΧ веков в науках об атоме. В связи с этим рассматриваются особенности личности и характер философско-поэтических воззрений отца писателя — выдающегося математика и философа Н.В. Бугаева (1837–1903). Дается очерк естественно-научных интересов и занятий Белого в университетские годы, включая описание «профессорской» среды и его контактов с известным физиком и философом Н.А. Умовым (1846–1915). Анализируются представленные в переписке с Ивановым-Разумником попытки Белого переформулировать открытия наук об атоме на языке И.В. Гёте и Р. Штейнера. Показано, каким образом возникшие в физике теории атома как эфирного «вихря» или солнечной системы в миниатюре, «упраздняющие» понимание атома как неделимой частицы вещества, позволяют Андрею Белому говорить о завершении эпохи позитивистского материализма, дают ему возможность постулировать «солнечную» природу атома, возвещать новую «научно-духовную» картину мира, сравнимую с «новым химическим Заветом». В качестве упрощенного, но близкого аналога для построений Белого указывается на работу Алисы Бейли «Сознание атома» (1922). The article treats Andrei Bely’s philosophical and artistic reinterpretation of the discoveries in atomic sciences made at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In this connection, under consideration is the personality, philosophical and poetic views of Bely’s father, famous mathematician and philosopher Nikolai Bougaïeff (1837–1903). A survey of Bely’s natural and philosophical interests and studies during the years at the university is given, including a description of the “professorial” environment and his contacts with the well-known physicist and philosopher Nikolay Umow (1846-1915). Bely’s attempts, represented in the correspondence with Ivanov-Razumnik, to reformulate the discoveries in atomic sciences in the language of Goethe and R. Steiner are analyzed. It is demonstrated in which way the concepts of the atom as a vortex of the aether or the solar system in miniature, proposed by the physicists, “abolishing” the understanding of the atom as an indivisible particle of matter, allow Andrei Bely to talk about the end of the epoch of positivistic materialism, enable him to postulate the “solar” nature of the atom, announce a new “scientific-spiritual” view of the world, comparable to a “New chemical Testament.” As a simplified but close parallel to Bely’s speculations, Alice Bailey’s work “The Consciousness of the Atom” (1922) is pointed out.

Abstract This is a translation of two prefaces to Urdu translations of Arabic- and English-language histories, published in 1921 and 1922, respectively, around the topos of medieval Muslim Spain. Both translations were prepared by Maulavī Ḳhalīl ur-Raḥmān, who is also the writer of the first preface. The second preface is an introduction by Muḥammad ʿInāyatullāh written partly to acknowledge the immense labor undertaken by Ḳhalīl ur-Raḥmān, and partly to introduce the larger project of translating Islamic histories into Urdu. The first translation is of Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Maqqarī at-Tilmisānī’s (d. 1632) Andalusian history, written in 1617 in Arabic and titled Nafḥ ut̤-T̤īb (The Breath of Perfume). The Urdu translation was published from Aligarh in November 1921. The second is a translation of S. P. Scott’s (1846–1929) English-language history written in 1904, The History of the Moorish Empire in Europe, which was published in Lahore in 1922 under the Urdu title Aḳhbār ul-Undulus. Through these prefaces, Ḳhalīl ur-Raḥmān’s translations reveal a vibrant world of translational activities centered around the Department of Composition and Translation in Osmania University, Hyderabad Deccan. Both prefaces demonstrate the centrality of the practice of translation in the project of (re)claiming the history of Muslim medieval Spain specifically, and Islamic history broadly. Both prefaces take up the context of translating medieval Spain into Urdu as an opportunity to meditate on global Islamic histories and the role of translation in reviving connections lost because of colonial violence. At the same time, Ḳhalīl ur-Raḥmān’s translations of these voluminous works of Andalusian history are not a one-off event, but signal a much larger, concerted effort to bring (back) al-Andalus into Urdu. At the same time, even as the two prefaces together seek to bring historical knowledge into Urdu, they themselves constitute significant intellectual productions in their own right, comprising intensive research around the idea of Islamic history writing in Urdu. Both Ḳhalīl ur-Raḥmān and Muḥammad ʿInāyatullāh engage with multiple strands of scholarship, ranging from past Islamic scholars writing in Arabic, nineteenth-century Orientalist accounts, as well as works by Urdu- and English-language scholars contemporaneous to them. Straddling these multiple worlds, these texts together provide a meditation on the role of translation and history writing in the elaboration of a Muslim intellectual production in colonial modernity.
