This study aimed to investigate the effect of HMGCR inhibitors on egg yolk cholesterol content and its biological mechanisms. Four groups of 180-day-old laying hens (n = 8 cages/group, 6 laying hens/cage) were fed a corn/soybean-based diet (control) and the control diet supplemented with an HMGCR inhibitor at 60, 150, and 300 mg/kg for 4 weeks. The experimental results showed that adding HMGCR inhibitors of 150 mg/kg or more can significantly reduce the cholesterol content in the liver, yolk, serum, and pectoral muscles of laying hens. The RNA-seq results showed that compared with the control group, the addition of HMGCR inhibitors of 150 mg/kg or more to the diet significantly upregulated genes related to cholesterol synthesis in the liver, and the genes involved in steroid synthesis and metabolism, sterol synthesis and metabolism, and cholesterol synthesis and metabolism were all affected by the HMGCR inhibitors. In summary, adding HMGCR inhibitors of 150 mg/kg or more to the diet of hens can significantly reduce the cholesterol content in egg yolk. After the HMGCR inhibitors inhibited the activity of the liver HMGCR, they also altered the expression of genes related to cholesterol synthesis, bile acid synthesis, and cholesterol transport in the liver, and ultimately reduced cholesterol synthesis and cholesterol transport to the egg yolk.

Background:Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are effective in reducing pain and stiffness in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients (pts).1However, continuous use of NSAIDs may lead to gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and renal toxicity.2Therefore, reduction in NSAID intake is desirable in AS pts. Objectives:To evaluate the long-term effect of secukinumab (SEC) on NSAID intake in AS pts pooled from the 3 SEC trials (MEASURE [M] 2-4).Methods:NSAID intake was evaluated prospectively using the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society (ASAS)-NSAID score.3The score was determined by type of NSAID, daily dose, and weights from frequency of intake, as well as % of time use in period. An ASAS-NSAID score of ‘0’ indicates no NSAID intake. Pts with ASAS-NSAID score >0 at baseline (BL) were analysed. SEC dose groups were defined as Any 150 or 300 mg, as defined for pooled safety analyses for SEC. Pts with initial placebo treatment (up to 24 weeks) were included in their respective post-Week 24 SEC dose groups to analyse ASAS-NSAID score at Year (Y) 2 (M2-4), Y3 (M2-3) and Y4 (M2) from BL. From the ASAS-NSAID score at BL, the mean change in ASAS-NSAID score, proportion of pts achieving 50% reduction, and the proportion of pts with score <10 were evaluated for each dose at Y2, 3 and 4. Based on the distribution of ASAS-NSAID scores at BL, 2 subgroups were evaluated: (i) <75 (low user); (ii) ≥75 (high user). Results:Overall, 562 pts (SEC: 150 mg, N=467; 300 mg, N=95) were analysed. The mean ASAS-NSAID score decreased with time in both dose groups. Greater improvements were observed in high NSAID users and with longer treatment exposure (Figure). Proportion of pts who achieved 50% reduction in ASAS-NSAID score increased with time in both SEC 150 and 300 mg groups. Proportion of pts with clinically meaningful reduction of ASAS-NSAID score <10 increased with time in both dose groups and in both low and high NSAID users (Table).TableTime (years)NSAID intakeLow (<0 ASAS-NSAID <75)High (ASAS-NSAID ≥75)OverallSEC 150 mg(N=167)SEC 300 mg#(N=37)SEC 150 mg(N=300)SEC 300 mg#(N=58)SEC 150 mg(N=467)SEC 300 mg#(N=95)Proportion of pts who achieved 50% reduction from BL in ASAS-NSAID score, % (n/m)*225 (38/154)18 (6/33)19 (50/267)14 (7/49)21 (88/421)16 (13/82)323 (13/56)21 (7/33)26 (26/100)17 (8/46)25 (39/156)19 (15/79)429 (7/24)-26 (14/54)-27 (21/78)-Proportion of pts with ASAS-NSAID score <10,% (n/m)*239 (60/154)33 (11/33)12 (33/267)12 (6/49)22 (93/421)21 (17/82)334 (19/56)33 (11/33)17 (17/100)13 (6/46)23 (36/156)22 (17/79)438 (9/24)-20 (11/54)-26 (20/78)-*Observed data.#MEASURE 3 that evaluated 300 mg was only a 3 year study.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the effect of secukinumab on radiographic progression through 52 weeks in patients with PsA from the FUTURE 5 study. Methods Patients with active PsA, stratified by prior anti-TNF use (naïve or inadequate response), were randomized to s.c. secukinumab 300 mg load (300 mg), 150 mg load (150 mg), 150 mg no load regimens or placebo at baseline, at weeks 1, 2 and 3 and every 4 weeks starting at week 4. Radiographic progression was assessed by change in van der Heijde-modified total Sharp score (vdH-mTSS; mean of two readers). Statistical analysis used a linear mixed-effects model (random slope) at weeks 24 and 52, and observed data at week 52. Assessments at week 52 included additional efficacy endpoints (non-responders imputation and mixed-effects models for repeated measures) and safety. Results The majority (86.6%) of patients completed 52 weeks of treatment. The proportion of patients with no radiographic progression (change from baseline in vdH-mTSS ⩽0.5) was 91.8, 85.2 and 87.2% in 300, 150 and 150 mg no load groups, respectively, at week 52. The change in vdH-mTSS from baseline to week 52 using random slope [mean change (s.e.)] was –0.18 (0.17), 0.11 (0.18) and –0.20 (0.18) in 300, 150 and 150 mg no load groups, respectively; the corresponding observed data [mean change (s.d.)] was –0.09 (1.02), 0.13 (1.39) and 0.21 (1.15). Clinical efficacy endpoints were sustained, and no new or unexpected safety signals were reported through 52 weeks. Conclusion Secukinumab 300 and 150 mg with or without s.c. loading regimen provided sustained low rates of radiographic progression through 52 weeks of treatment. Introduction: Secukinumab has demonstrated sustained long-term efficacy for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, but efficacy in mild to moderate psoriasis has not been rigorously evaluated. The secukinumab phase 3 clinical trial program included patients with mild to moderate psoriasis among populations with active psoriatic arthritis (EXCEED and FUTURE 2-5; NCT02745080, NCT01752634, NCT01989468, NCT02294227, and NCT02404350), and among patients with moderate to severe palmoplantar psoriasis (GESTURE; NCT01806597). Here, we report efficacy and safety of secukinumab in a pooled population of patients with mild to moderate psoriasis. Methods: This post hoc analysis included patients from the phase 3 EXCEED, FUTURE 2-5, and GESTURE trials, with mild to moderate psoriasis defined as either a baseline affected body surface area (BSA) of 3%-10% or a baseline Investigator’s Global Assessment modified 2011 score (IGA) of 2 or 3. Patients were pooled by treatment received through Week 16 (treatment period 1) and from Weeks 16 to 52 (treatment period 2), according to the following groups: treatment period 1 (secukinumab 300 mg, secukinumab 150 mg, or placebo) and treatment period 2 (secukinumab 300 mg or secukinumab 150 mg). Efficacy was assessed by the proportion of patients achieving 75% improvement in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI75), PASI90, and PASI100 among patients with a BSA 3%-10%; and by IGA 0/1 response with ≥2-point improvement among patients with baseline IGA score of 2 or 3. Descriptive statistics were reported for each outcome. Missing data were imputed using non-responder imputation. Results: Overall, 654 patients and 971 patients had mild to moderate psoriasis at baseline as defined by a BSA of 3%-10% or IGA score of 2 or 3, respectively. Demographics and baseline disease characteristics were similar between populations defined by BSA and by IGA. Among patients with a baseline BSA of 3%-10%, secukinumab resulted in greater achievement of PASI75/90/100 vs placebo at Week 12 (secukinumab 300 mg: 62.8%/44.4%/33.1%; secukinumab 150 mg: 48.0%/29.1%/19.4%; placebo: 11.7%/9.0%/8.0%), with increased responses at Week 52 (secukinumab 300 mg: 65.7%/56.5%/47.3%; secukinumab 150 mg: 58.1%/40.5%/31.3%). The proportion of patients with baseline IGA=2 or 3 achieving IGA 0/1 response with ≥2-point improvement was greater among patients receiving secukinumab 300 mg (46.6%) or 150 mg (37.2%) than placebo (8.6%) at Week 12, with increased responses at Week 52 (secukinumab 300 mg: 52.5%; secukinumab 150 mg: 44.4%). Conclusions: Secukinumab led to improvements in measures of disease severity among patients with mild to moderate psoriasis after 12 weeks of treatment vs placebo in a pooled analysis of patients with psoriatic arthritis or palmoplantar psoriasis. Both doses of secukinumab showed increased efficacy from Week 12 to Week 52.

AbstractA survey of the occurrence of Dirofilaria immitis, Borrelia burgdorferi, Ehrlichia canis and Anaplasma phagocytophium in dogs was undertaken in the People's Republic of China between October 2008 and October 2009. A total of 600 blood samples were taken from dogs in four cities in China: 300 in Beijing, 150 in Shenzhen, 30 in Shanghai and 120 in Zhengzhou. All samples were tested for the heartworm antigen and antibodies of canine B. burgdorferi, E. canis and A. phagocytophium by using the canine SNAP® 4Dx® test kit. The occurrence of D. immitis, B. burgdorferi, E. canis and A. phagocytophium was 1.17% (7/600), 0.17% (1/600), 2.17% (13/600) and 0.5% (3/600), respectively. In Shenzhen city 2% (3/150), 8.67% (13/150) and 2% (3/150) of samples were positive for D. immitis, E. canis and A. phagocytophium, respectively. The occurrence of heartworm antigen was 0.33% (1/300) in Beijing, 2.00% (3/150) in Shenzhen, 3.33% (1/30) in Shanghai and 1.67% (2/120) in Zhengzhou. We found E. canis and A. phagocytophium only at one site, Shenzhen, while the only occurrence of B. burgdorferi was at Beijing. In conclusion, the dog population in China is at potential risk for D. immitis, B. burgdorferi, E. canis and A. phagocytophium infection, the risk being especially high in southern China.

Tigernuts have so many food and medicinal potentials as it contains some amount of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. Despite the food and health benefits associated with this tuber, its production in southern Nigeria is at an abysmal level probably due to lack of knowledge for its production or utility. This experiment was conducted at the University of Nigeria Teaching and Research Farm to evaluate the effect of seven complementary fertilizer treatments on the growth and yield of tigernut. The experiment is an attempt to develop appropriate agronomic practice that will assure regular cultivation culture. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with seven fertilizer treatments and replicated 10 times. Treatments were NPK 15:15:15 (300 kg/ha), NPK 20:10:10 (300 kg/ha), poultry manure, PM, (5 t/ha), NPK 15:15:15 (150 kg/ha) + 3 t/ha PM, NPK 20:10:10 (150 kg/ha) + 3 t/ha PM, K-nitrate (100 kg/ha) + Ca-nitrate (100 kg/ha) + 2.5 t/ha PM and control (No fertilizer application). Fertilizer treatments significantly (p < 0.05) influenced growth and yield parameters except fresh weight of leaves, length of longest root and weight of seed planted. Significantly (p < 0.05) superior values of growth and yield parameters were obtained in plants grown with NPK 15:15:15 (300 kg/ha), followed closely by the application of NPK 20:10:10 at 150 kg/ha plus 3 t/ha PM. This study recommends application of NPK 15:15:15 (300 kg/ha) or the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizer (NPK 20:10:10 at 150 kg/ha plus 3 t/ha PM) to boost the yield and growth of tigernut.

SummaryThe effect of heat treatment on the profiles of casein micelles obtained at 340 and 280 nm from controlled pore-glass chromatography of milk was studied in a series of unhomogenized whole milk samples which had been heated in a pilot plant at 75, 90, 105, 120, 135 and 150 °C for holding times of 4, 16, 32, 72, 150 and 300 s. A second experiment was carried out in which whole milk was preheated at temperatures between 70 and 110 °C for 13, 60 and 180 s before being treated at 120 °C for 4 s or 150 °C for 16 s. The average micelle size in some of the samples was determined by photon correlation spectroscopy. Profiles were divided into four fractions in which micelle size decreased from fraction 1 to fraction 4. The dimensions of these fractions were expressed in terms of size relative to that of the total profile. Fraction 4 was not affected by any of the heat treatments. Fractions 1–3 were significantly affected only by temperatures above 120 °C. Between 120 and 150 °C fraction 1 increased significantly while fractions 2 and 3 showed a corresponding decrease. Holding time affected fraction 1 only above 120 °C. For fraction 2 there was no effect in < 32 s at temperatures less than 150 °C. Fraction 3 was the most sensitive to changes in holding time, but no effect was observed below 105 °C. Average micelle size measurements indicated that a substantial size increase only occurred in those milks heated at 135 °C for longer than 16 s and in all the samples at 150 °C. To assess whether this increase in micelle size was reversible, samples were dialysed against a 70 mm-NaCl solution containing 10 mm-EDTA and then separated by column chromatography on Sephacryl S-300. The proportion of materials which was undissociated by dialysis remained unchanged for temperatures below 120 °C, but progressively increased with treatments more severe than 120 °C for 16 s. Column profiles were not influenced by variations in the conditions of preheating

The relative competitiveness of triazine-resistant (TR) and -susceptible (TS) common waterhemp, as a component of fitness, was assessed using TR and TS biotypes collected from the same field in Fillmore County, Nebraska. Competition between biotypes was evaluated under greenhouse conditions using a set of replacement series experiments with five ratios of TR:TS (1:0, 3:1, 1:1, 1:3, and 0:4) and four plant densities (50, 100, 150, and 300 plants m−2). No difference in final individual plant weight between TR and TS plants was observed in the absence of interbiotypic competition at all plant densities examined. Interbiotypic competition was indicated by ANOVA of plant weight and modified relative crowding coefficients (RCC) for plant weight, height, and volume. Replacement series diagrams showed TS plants were more competitive than TR plants, as measured by plant weight at densities of 50, 100, and 150 plants m−2. TS and TR plants were equally competitive at 300 plants m−2. Individual TS plant weight for 50, 100, and 150 plants m−2was greatest at the 3:1 ratio (TR:TS) and decreased as the proportion of susceptible plants increased. Individual TR plant weight for 50, 100, and 150 plants m−2was greatest at the 1:0 ratio and decreased as the TR proportion decreased. Lack of interbiotypic competition at 300 plants m−2and decreasing TS plant weight with increasing ratios suggest intrabiotypic competition. RCC values for volume and height were calculated weekly during the experiment and indicated the competitive advantage of TS plants was constant from transplanting through harvest.

Gude nuts are known as wooden nuts on Kisar Island, which is an area that uses wood nuts as food. This study aims to determine the viscosity value and organoleptic test of pigeon pea sauce based on the weight of the beans. This research was conducted in February - March 2021 at the Laboratory of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP, Pattimura University, Ambon and a viscosity test at the Ambon Industrial Standardization and Research Institute (Baristand) using an experimental research type and the research design used was a completely randomized design ( RAL), using 3 treatments, namely the weight of pigeon pea 150 g, 300 g and 450 g and using 2 replications to obtain 6 samples. This study showed that the weight of pigeon pea had an effect on the viscosity and organoleptic of soy sauce. From the viscosity analysis, the highest viscosity was obtained, namely 608.065 cp with a weight of 450 g pigeon pea, while for pigeon pea 300 g 411.065 cp and 150 g gude beans at 141 cp and organoleptic test obtained the average value of the texture of soy sauce on the treatment of pigeon pea and soy sauce 450 g pigeon pea 300 g with an average value of 4 (very thick) and peanut gude 150 g with an average value of 3 (thick). In the flavor of pigeon pea sauce 300 g and 150 g have an average value of 3 (fragrant), while for the treatment of 450 g peanuts is 4 (very fragrant). The color of the soy sauce in the pigeon pea sauce treatment was 450 g and 300 g with an average value of 4 (very black), and the 150 g peanut sauce treatment was 3 (black). In the treatment of 450 g of pigeon pea sauce and 300 g of pigeon pea sauce, the average value was 3 (sweet). For 150 g of pigeon pea soy sauce, on average the panelists gave a score of 2 (less sweet). There is an influence on the viscosity because the weight of the nuts used is different. while the organoleptic test showed a thick, fragrant, less sweet, and sweet taste.

Preliminary test was conducted to physically observe and determine the range of Fe and Al concentrations that Scirpus grossus can grow and survive. Pails of 3 L containing 3 kg of sand and 42 days old S. grossus were exposed to different concentrations of Fe and Al solution mixture for 21 days. The mass ratio between Fe and Al in the solution mixture was 3:1. After 21 days of exposure, the plants had shown that they could grow and survive in concentrations up to 300 mg/L Fe + 100 mg/L Al. Effect concentration (EC50)value for single Fe and Al toxicity to S. grossus was predicted between 300 mg/L Fe + 100 mg/L Al and 450 mg/L Fe + 150 mg/L Al. Therefore, it is suggested for the next study of phytotoxicity the Fe and Al concentrations range may start as low as 30 mg/L Fe + 10 mg/L Al up to 450 mg/L Fe + 150 mg/L Al.

Two kinds of monochromators covering the energy ranges 100–150 keV and ∼300 keV have been designed for inelastic (Compton) scattering experiments at the elliptical multipole wiggler beamline, BL08W, of SPring-8. Finite-element analyses using ANSYS for bent crystals indicate that thermal problems are not serious for the 300 keV monochromator, while an energy spread of about 10−3 for the 100–150 keV monochromator is possible in the centre of the crystal. Detailed calculations of X-ray interaction with the silicon crystal were performed. The results show that Compton scattering is a dominant process and deposits about 100 W continuously.

Abstract Abstract 3526 Alternative donor hematopoietic cell transplantation (AD-HCT) for patients with Fanconi anemia (FA) is challenging. We report on the outcomes of 94 patients with FA, median age 9.0 (range 1–33) years, who underwent AD-HCT at our institution from 1999–2010, using one of three consecutive prospective phase II total body irradiation (TBI) containing clinical trials. With each trial, one change was made from the previous trial to systematically study the optimal AD-HCT approach for FA patients. In Trial 1, from 1999–2003, fludarabine (FLU) 140 mg/m2 was added to the conventional cyclophosphamide (CY), antithymocyte globulin (ATG), TBI 450 cGy preparative regimen to overcome the high risk of graft failure. In Trial 2, from 2003–2006, CT guided thymic shielding (TS) was included during TBI to improve immune reconstitution. In Trial 3, from 2006–2010, a TBI dose-de-escalation trial with TS was performed to determine the lowest possible dose of TBI required for engraftment. All patients received CY 40 mg/kg, FLU 140 mg/m2, ATG and single fraction TBI using 150, 300 or 450 cGy, with or without TS as per specific protocol. Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis consisted of cyclosporin A and methylprednisolone. Graft sources included T-cell depleted bone marrow (BM; n=75), single umbilical cord blood (UCB, n=17) or double UCB (n=2). At the time of HCT, 74 patients had aplastic anemia (AA) and 16 patients demonstrated early MDS defined as refractory anemia (RA, n=8), refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts (RARS), RA with multilineage dysplasia (RCMD, n=4) or RCMD and ringed sideroblasts (RCMD-RS, n=4). One patient had RA with excess blasts-2 (RAEB-2) and 3 patients had acute myeloid leukemia (AML). For the entire cohort of 94 patients, probabilities of neutrophil and platelet engraftment were 97% and 75%, respectively. In Trial 3, two recipients of TBI 150 cGy developed secondary graft failure and dose de-escalation was stopped at TBI 300 cGy. For all patients, probabilities of grade II-IV and grade III-IV acute GVHD were 23% and 10%. Probability of chronic GVHD was 13%. In multivariate analysis of 89 patients (excluding 3 patients with GFR <40 and 2 recipients of TBI 150), higher 3-year mortality was associated with older age (>10 years), and any transfusions prior to HCT. Lower 3-year mortality was associated with Trial 3 (Table). Of the 8 patients in Trial 3 who were <10 years of age and never received transfusions before HCT, 7 are alive and well. Immune reconstitution and infectious disease data analyses are in progress. Table: Factors Associated with 3 Year Survival after HCT: Multiple Regression Analysis Factors N Relative Risk (95% CI) P-value Trial 1: Cy-Flu-ATG-TBI 450* 43 1.0 2: Cy-Flu-ATG-TBI 450+TS 16 0.7 (0.3–1.7) 0.39 3: Cy-Flu–ATG-TBI 300+TS 30 0.4 (0.1–1.0) 0.04 Age 210* 49 1.0 >10 40 2.1 (1.0–4.4) 0.05 Prior Transfusions None* 27 1.0 1–20 45 2.7 (1.0–7.5) 0.05 >20 17 2.9 (1.0–8.8) 0.06 * reference Based on the results of the largest single center analysis of alternative donor HCT for FA patients, four findings emerge: (1) TBI 300 cGy +TS with CY-FLU-ATG is sufficient for consistent engraftment but TBI 150 cGy +TS is not adequate; (2) rates of GVHD are low with T cell depletion; (3) patients with FA and marrow failure should be referred to HCT before receiving transfusions, and (4) superior survival is associated with CY-FLU-ATG-TBI 300+TS followed by T-cell depleted AD-BM or unmanipulated UCB, potentially due to enhanced immune recovery. Longer follow-up is required to determine whether this approach is associated with reduced late effects, particularly endocrinopathies and malignancy. Abstract Context Elagolix is an oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist recently approved for the treatment of endometriosis-associated pain and being developed for heavy menstrual bleeding associated with uterine fibroids. Objective The objective was to evaluate the effects of elagolix on ovulation and ovarian sex hormones. Design and Setting This was a randomized, open-label, multicenter study. Participants Participants were healthy ovulatory women aged 18 to 40 years. Interventions Elagolix was administered orally for 3 continuous 28-day dosing intervals at 100 to 200 mg once daily (QD), 100 to 300 mg twice daily (BID), and 300 mg BID plus estradiol/norethindrone acetate (E2/NETA) 1/0.5 mg QD. Main Outcome Measures The main outcomes measures were ovulation rates measured by transvaginal ultrasound, progesterone concentrations, and hormone suppression. Results Elagolix suppressed ovulation in a dose-dependent manner. The percentage of women who ovulated was highest at 100 mg QD (78%), intermediate at 150 and 200 mg QD and 100 mg BID (47%–57%), and lowest at 200 and 300 mg BID (32% and 27%, respectively). Addition of E2/NETA to elagolix 300 mg BID further suppressed the ovulation rate to 10%. Elagolix also suppressed luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone in a dose-dependent manner, leading to dose-dependent suppression of estradiol and progesterone. Elagolix had no effect on serum biomarker of ovarian reserve, and reduced endometrial thickness compared to the screening cycle. Conclusion Women being treated with elagolix may ovulate and should use effective methods of contraception. The rate of ovulation was lowest with elagolix 300 mg BID plus E2/NETA 1/0.5 mg QD.

Plant growth regulators have a significant impact on increasing both quality and quantity of plant yield for either mixed or separated application. The research was aimed to identify the effect of spraying plant growth regulators on duku flowers for fruit formation. The research was conducted from December 2014 to May 2015 in Sijacarana Local Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of Propagation, South Sumatra Province in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Timur Regency. Duku tree used was 15 years old with the height around 10 meter. Complete Randomized Design was used with 3 replications where duku trees as the replicates. The spraying consisted of 3 single plant growth regulator treatments and 6 mixed treatments which were P1 (BAP 300 mg.L-1), P2 (NAA 300 mg.L-1), P3 (GA3 300 mg.L-1), P4 (BAP 100 mg. L-1 + GA3 200 mg.L-1), P5 (BAP 200 mg.L-1 + GA3 100 mg.L-1), P6 (BAP 150 mg.L-1 + GA3 150 mg.L-1), P7 (NAA 100 mg.L-1 + GA3 200 mg.L-1), P8 (NAA 200 mg.L-1 + GA3 100 mg.L-1), P9 (NAA 150 mg.L-1 + GA3 150 mg.L-1). Spraying was applied twice with a half dosage for each application. First application was performed about one month after flowering, and the second was one and a half month after flowering. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and least significance difference at α 5%. The measurement of parameters were carried after harvest or 3 months after treatment. Results showed that plant growth regulator positively affected duku fruit formation. GA3 treatment then was considered as the best treatment as it had a unison in fruit maturity, the highest number of fruit per bunch, weight per fruit and total fruit weight per bunch, and had the lowest number of green fruit and seed per fruit.

Polycrystalline samples of La0.67Ba0.33(Mn1-xRux)O3 with x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2 have been prepared using solid state reaction. The effects of doping of Ru at Mn site on La-Ba-Mn- O ceramics, the characteristics and magnetotransport properties of CMR materials are investigated. The magnetoresistance (MR) effect is measured using the four point probe technique. The magnetoresistance defined as MR% = (Ro – RH)/RH x 100% was measured at a magnetic field of H ≤ 1T at 90K, 100K, 150K, 200K, 250K, 270K and 300K for the sample of doping x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2. Overall, MR drops slowly when temperature rises. All doping concentration gives small variation range (~2.7% to ~26.78%). The electrical property has determined by using standard four-point probe resistivity measurement in a temperature range of 30 K to 300 K. Metalinsulator transition temperature (Tp) shifted to lower temperatures as Ru doping is increased. In this paper the structural pattern and microstructure property have investigated via XRD. XRD patterns show that these systems are in orthorhombic distorted perovskite structures.

O baru (Dipteryx alata Vog.)

ABSTRACTThe effects of using freeze-dried extracts (FDEs) of spearmint (Mentha spicata), fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), and turmeric (Curcuma longa) as well as adjusting the baking temperature and time on acrylamide formation in pita bread were investigated to obtain the most acceptable conditions that produced the lowest acrylamide concentrations. A Box-Behnken design was adopted for optimization of the pita bread formulations by adding FDEs (3 to 25 g/100 g of wheat flour) and adjusting the baking temperature (200 to 300°C) and baking time (3 to 11 min), and the effects of these changes on color parameters, phytochemical attributes, and acrylamide concentrations were evaluated. Increasing the concentration of FDE and decreasing the baking temperature and time considerably decreased the acrylamide concentration in bread for all experimental trials. No acrylamide was detected in pita bread formulated with 25 g of mint FDE/100 g of wheat flour and baked at 250°C for 3 min, formulated with 25 g of mint or fennel FDE/100 g and baked at 300°C for 7 min, formulated with 3 g of mint, fennel, or turmeric FDE/100 g and baked at 200°C for 7 min, formulated with 14 g of mint FDE/100 g and baked at 300°C for 3 min, and formulated with 25 g of mint or fennel FDE/100 g and baked at 200°C for 7 min. Pita breads formulated with fennel and turmeric FDE were given high sensory scores.

Background:Secukinumab (SEC) 150 and 300 mg doses are approved for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). SEC 300 mg is the recommended dose for patients (pts) with concomitant moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis or who are anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF) inadequate responders. An increase from 150 mg to 300 mg has been reported to be beneficial in some patients with a suboptimal response to SEC 150 mg.1Here, we present a post hoc analysis in anti-TNF naïve pts who escalated from SEC 150 to 300 mg dose in two Phase 3 studies, FUTURE 4 (NCT02294227) and FUTURE 5 (NCT02404350).Objectives:To evaluate the clinical efficacy on joints following dose escalation from SEC 150 to 300 mg on ACR responses in anti-TNF naïve pts with PsA.Methods:Study design, patient inclusion and exclusion criteria of the FUTURE 4 and FUTURE 5 studies have been reported previously.1–3In FUTURE 4, 341 pts were randomised in a 1:1:1 ratio to SEC 150 mg with loading dose (LD), SEC 150 mg without LD, or placebo. In FUTURE 5, 996 pts were randomised in a 2:2:2:3 ratio to SEC 300 mg with LD, SEC 150 mg with LD, SEC 150 mg without LD or placebo. Following a protocol amendment, pts were allowed to escalate from 150 mg to the 300 mg dose, in the event of suboptimal response based on investigator’s judgment, starting at Week 36 in FUTURE 4 and at Week 52 in FUTURE 5. ACR responses in anti-TNF naïve pts were evaluated pre- and up to 32 and 40 weeks post-escalation, in FUTURE 4 and FUTURE 5, respectively: pts were grouped into four ranges based on their response: no (< 20); low (≥ 20 to < 50); moderate (≥ 50 to < 70); high (≥ 70) ACR responses. Data presented are as observed in the Sankey-style overlay plot. Results:Dose escalation from SEC 150 to 300 mg occurred in 136 pts in FUTURE 4 and in 236 pts in FUTURE 5. The proportion of ACR responders increased and the proportion of non-responders decreased in anti-TNF naïve pts who escalated from SEC 150 to 300 mg in the two studies. The proportion of anti-TNF naïve pts with a response ≥ACR50 increased from 20% to 41% in FUTURE 4 and 28% to 46% in FUTURE 5, post dose escalation. The ACR responses in anti-TNF naïve pts up to 40 weeks after escalation from SEC 150 to 300 mg are presented in the Sankey-style overlay (Figure).Figure.ACR Response bar chart with Sankey-style overlays up to 40 weeks, after dose escalation from SEC 150 mg to 300 mg, in anti-TNF naïve pts in FUTURE 4 and 5Conclusion:The proportion of ACR responders increased within 12-16 weeks and was sustained up to 40 weeks following dose escalation in anti-TNF naïve pts with PsA. These results suggest that dose escalation from SEC 150 to 300 mg may be beneficial in anti-TNF naïve pts with a suboptimal response on SEC 150 mg.References:[1]Kivitz AJ, et al. Physalis peruviana has been widely used as a medicinal herb for treating various diseases since ancient times. This study aimed to examine the hepatoprotective potential of the ethanolic extract of P. peruviana fruit (EPPF) against lead acetate (LA) intoxicated male albino rats. The experimental rats were divided into ten groups of 4 animals. Animal of Group I served as normal, Group II animals were administered orally 15 mg/Kg body weight of LA, Group III to V animals received EPPF 150mg/kg, 300 mg/kg and 600 mg/kg respectively, Group VI animals received standard silymarin 50 mg/kg, and Group VII to X were treated with LA (15 mg/kg) with EPPF 150, 300, 600 and std 50 mg/kg, orally for 32 days respectively. The degree of protection was measured by estimating hematological parameters such as Hb, RBC, WBC, PCV, platelets, MCV, MCHC, and ESR and biochemical parameters such as urea, creatinine, Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL, bilirubin, SGOT, SGBT, ALP, GGT, protein, albumin and globulin. Lead acetate induced alterations of hematological and biochemical parameters were observed in group II animals and these levels brought back to normal in the animals treated with EPPF at the concentrations of 150, 300 and 600 mg/kg which was significantly similar to silymarin treated animals. The data of the results obtained depicted that the fruit extract of P. peruviana was found to have promising protective efficacy against lead acetate induced liver toxicity.

We present comprehensive cathodoluminescence measurements from thin amorphous a- SiC films doped with rare earths. The a-SiC films were prepared by rf magnetron sputtering using a high purity SiC wafer in high purity argon atmosphere (5N, pressure approx. 0.2 mbar). The rare earth doping (Tb, Dy and Eu concentrations were below 2%) was performed by placing respective rare earth metal pieces of appropriate size onto the Silicon Carbide wafer. The rare earth ion emissions cover the colors green (Tb), yellow (Dy) and red (Eu). The optical and related structural properties of the films are correlated by means of high resolution transmission electron microscopy in combination with cathodoluminescence measurements in a scanning electron microscope. In addition, the corresponding compositions are determined by energy-dispersive x-ray analysis. The cathodoluminescence spectra of the rare earth 3+ ions are recorded in the visible at 20°C in the asgrown condition and after annealing treatments in the temperature range from 300°C to 1050°C by steps of 150°C. The anneal-related changes in the cathodoluminescence emission spectra and in the microstructure of the films are addressed. The SiC films show amorphous structure almost independent of the annealing treatment. Optimal annealing temperature for emissions of Tb3+ doped a-SiC were derived to be 600°C whereas Dy3+ and Eu3+ emissions increase at least up to 1050°C.

Background: Despite the benefits and clinical necessity of insulin treatment in type 2 diabetes (T2D), healthcare providers are reluctant to initiate insulin, and patients are reluctant to start it for several reasons, one of these being the complexity of insulin treatment. Patients and their healthcare providers can benefit from titration algorithms (TAs) or rules that assist with the initiation and titration of insulin, performing the calculations that are needed to safely initiate and conservatively adjust. Methods: The primary objective for this in silico study was to examine the effectiveness of 3 dose TAs (1-3) for optimization of basal insulin glargine (Gla-100 and Gla-300). In the simulations, 100 virtual subjects with T2D were included (50% men, age 62 ± 3 years, HbA1c 8.1% ± 2.9%, body weight 94 ± 16 kg). Subjects were studied under each TA (TA1 and TA2 fasting blood glucose [FBG] targets 90-130 mg/dL, TA3 FBG target 110-150 mg/dL). Initial dose of both insulins was based on 0.2 U/kg body weight. During 3 months, subjects reported their FBG to the LTHome web-based dose guidance system with a rules engine to safely guide long-acting insulin titration and maintenance. Subjects followed dose recommendations to reach designated FBG target ranges. Results: All subjects reached stable doses under all TAs with both Gla-100 and Gla-300 insulin, and 93 or more of the 100 subjects, depending on the assigned TA, achieved the target FBG range within the 3-month simulation for all TAs. Mean FBG was lowered (Gla-100: 155 ± 40 to 118 ± 11 mg/dL with TA1 and TA2 and 132 ± 12 mg/dL for TA3; Gla-300: 125 ± 14 with TA1 and TA2 and 134 ± 15 mg/dL with TA3). Calculated HbA1c improved from 8.1% ± 2.9% to 7.1% ± 2.5% for TA1 and TA2 and 7.5% ± 2.5% for TA3, a reduction of 0.9% and 0.6% over 3 months for both insulins. Three subjects on Gla-100 and one subject on Gla-300 experienced mild hypoglycemia. Conclusion: All TAs delivered safe dose recommendations with minimal hypoglycemia, leading to a stable glucose control in the majority of subjects.

The demand for cassava tuber in Indonesia is high, however, domestic production is still limited therefore increasing production is important. Ultisol soils have the potential for cassava production, but low soil fertility in such soils needs to be improved. The research aimed to evaluate the effect of soil organic carbon (SOC) and NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of cassava tuber in an ultisol. The experiment was conducted at the Jonggol Experimental Farm, IPB Bogor, West Java from September 2022 to January 2023. The experiment used a split-plot design with three replications. The main plot was SOC level of 1.93 (control), 2, 3, and 4%, and the subplot was NPK 15-15-15 level of 150, 300, 450, and 600 kg ha-1. SOC level was increased through the application of cow manure 0, 3.59, 54.93, and 106.27 tons ha-1 corresponding to SOC levels of 1.93 (control), 2, 3, and 4%, respectively. Results showed that enhancing SOC up to 3% and NPK 300 kg ha-1 were enough to support cassava growth as shown by plant height, stem diameter, and leaf number. The leaf number was the highest in the 3% SOC+150 kg NPK, 2% SOC+300 kg NPK or+450 kg NPK, and control+600 kg ha-1 NPK treatment. Leaf greenness was only affected by adding NPK fertilizer; a high greenness value was obtained at NPK level of > 150 kg ha-1 and 300 to 600 kg ha-1 resulting in non-significantly leaf greenness. The status of N and K in the leaves increased by SOC and NPK treatments, while the P status was unaffected. SOC at a level of 3% and NPK at a level of 150 kg ha-1 stimulated cassava to produce the highest fresh tuber weight (1.85 kg per plant) at 4 months after planting. Cassava productivity in ultisol soil can be increased by applying cow manure of 54.93 tons ha-1 to enhance SOC up to 3% combined with NPK of 150 kg ha-1. This study investigated the effect of applying one heating-cooling cycle on the interface strength parameters of saturated clay soil-concrete, and the potential use of the heating process to improve the side capacity of piles driven in clayey soil. A large direct shear test device with inner dimensions of 300 mm, 300 mm, and 200 mm for width, length, and height, respectively was modified to perform the interface soil-concrete tests. A concrete block (300 mm × 300 mm × 100 mm) was built and placed at the bottom section of the shear device. Watlaw heating fire rods system was used to heat the circulating water that heat the specimens. The experimental tests were conducted on Low Plasticity Index soil with PI=12. The specimens were first consolidated to a target normal stress prior to shearing. Two specimens at different testing temperature (room temperature = 20 °C, 70 °C) were tested for each of the four different normal stresses (30, 69, 110, and 150 kPa). The temperature for the heated specimens was increased gradually during the heating process from the room temperature (20 °C ± 2 °C) to 70 °C ± 2 °C in 3 hours. The specimens were then cooled back to room temperature. The test results showed significant increase in both peak and residual interface shear strength parameters by 13.6% and 15.6% increase in friction angle, respectively. Also, volumetric strain under shearing decreased after the heating and cooling cycle by 30.0%, 24.4%, 11.3%, and 24.2% under 30 kPa, 69 kPa, 110 kPa, and 150 kPa, respectively.

Zeylanicobdella arugamensis infection causes health problems for cultured grouper. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of citric acid soaking as an anti Z. arugamensis ectoparasite. A total of ±120 Z. arugamensis were isolated from sick hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus x E. lanceolatus) placed in Petri dishes (6 Petri dishes). Citric acid solution with 0, 50, 100, 150, 250, and 400 ppm was added to the petri plates. Immersion of Z. arugamensis was carried out for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Each 30 Z. arugamensis/treatment/30 minutes was taken and placed in 3 petri dishes (10 individuals/petri dish) filled with seawater. Observations were made on the response of Z. arugamensis. Comments were made on cocoon development into larvae. The citric acid safety test was conducted on cantang hybrid grouper infected with Z. arugamensis. A total of 3 test fish were soaked with citric acid solution in seawater at concentrations of 0, 150, 250, and 300 ppm. Observations of fish condition were made after 30 and 60 minutes of immersion. The results showed that citric acid concentrations of 250 and 400 ppm effectively killed Z. arugamensis (76.67±15.28-100%), and their cocoon development reached (0%). A citric acid concentration of 300 ppm is still safe to use for immersion of cantang hybrid grouper infected with Z. arugamensis for 60 minutes. Citric acid concentrations of 250-300 ppm can also release Z. arugamensis from the fish body. Citric acid has antiparasitic properties and lowers the pH of seawater.

Abstract Introduction Patients with excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) associated with narcolepsy or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) struggle to maintain wakefulness. Solriamfetol (Sunosi®) is a dopamine/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor with agonistic properties at TAAR1 and serotonin 1A receptors; it is approved to treat EDS associated with narcolepsy (75–150 mg/day) or OSA (37.5–150 mg/day). This post-hoc analysis characterized the effects of solriamfetol on the propensity of participants with EDS associated with narcolepsy or OSA to maintain wakefulness. Methods The safety and efficacy of solriamfetol has been evaluated in participants with EDS and narcolepsy or OSA in the phase 3 trials, TONES 2 and TONES 3. Participants were randomized to placebo or solriamfetol (37.5 mg [OSA only], 75 mg, 150 mg, or 300 mg) once daily for 12 weeks. This post-hoc analysis evaluated the proportion of participants who achieved improvement from baseline on various 40-minute Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) thresholds (≥5, ≥10, ≥15, and ≥20 minutes) and mean sleep latencies ≥30 and ≥40 minutes at weeks 1, 4, and 12. Comparisons between solriamfetol and placebo were evaluated using Fisher’s exact test. Results A greater proportion of participants with narcolepsy achieved improvement from baseline of ≥15 and ≥20 minutes on the MWT with solriamfetol 150 mg (36% and 18%, respectively) and 300 mg (38% and 28%) compared with placebo (4% and 4%) at week 12 (P≤0.028); findings were similar at week 12 in participants with OSA with solriamfetol 75 mg (28% and 13%), 150 mg (37% and 25%), and 300 mg (44% and 28%) compared with placebo (8% and 3%; P≤0.034). A greater proportion of participants with narcolepsy achieved MWT sleep latency ≥30 minutes at week 12 with solriamfetol 150 mg (24%) and 300 mg (30%) compared with placebo (2%; P≤0.002); results were similar in participants with OSA for MWT sleep latency ≥30 minutes at week 12 with solriamfetol 75 mg (28%), 150 mg (34%), and 300 mg (44%) compared with placebo (11%; P≤0.012). Conclusion These findings suggest solriamfetol leads to substantial improvements on objective propensity to stay awake in a large proportion of patients with narcolepsy or OSA when compared with placebo. 41 Background: AMG 208 is a small molecule MET inhibitor that suppresses proliferation and induces apoptosis in human tumor xenografts. This first-in-human study evaluated the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of AMG 208. We report data from the dose escalation part of the study. Methods: Key eligibility criteria: ≥ 18 yr, advanced solid tumors, ECOG ≤ 2, and evaluable/measurable disease. Using a modified Fibonacci design, 3–9 pts were enrolled into 1 of 7 sequential dose cohorts (25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, and 400 mg) of AMG 208. Pts received AMG 208 orally on days 1 and 4–28 once daily. If no dose limiting toxicity (DLT) was seen on days 1–28, pts received AMG 208 once daily starting at day 36 provided pts showed no evident disease progression. In cohorts 1–3, a standard 3+3 design was followed. In cohorts 4–7, a modified 3+3+3 design was followed. Results: As of July 16 2012, 54 pts (25 mg [n=6], 50 mg [n=4], 100 mg [n=4], 150 mg [n=3], 200 mg [n=16], 300 mg [n=10], and 400 mg [n =11]) had received ≥ 1 dose of AMG 208. 67% were men; 19% had prostate cancer (PC). Median (range) age: 61 (39–80) yr. ECOG 0/1: 52%/48%. 6 DLTs were seen: a grade (G) 3 increased AST (200 mg), a G3 thrombocytopenia (200 mg), a G4 acute myocardial infarction (300 mg), a G3 prolonged QT (300 mg), and two G3 hypertensions (400 mg). The maximum tolerated dose was not reached. 83% of pts had tx-related adverse events (AE). Tx-related AE occurring in > 10 pts: fatigue (n=24), nausea (n=18), hypertension (n=12), and diarrhea (n=11). 24% of pts had grade ≥ 3 tx-related AE. AMG 208 was orally bioavailable with a 30–35 hr mean half-life in plasma. Exposure increased linearly with dose; accumulation at day 28 was 2.7-fold across cohorts. Of the 42 pts with available tumor response data for site reads, 1 had complete response on bone scan (PC 300 mg) while 2 had partial responses (PR; PC 400 mg and kidney cancer 200 mg; both had -33% tumor shrinkage), and 29 had stable disease (SD); 1 other PC pt had PR after data cutoff. Of the 35 pts with available tumor response data for central reads, 26 had SD. FLT and biomarker data will be presented. Conclusions: AMG 208 up to 400 mg daily had manageable toxicities and showed evidence of antitumor activity, especially in prostate cancer. Clinical trial information: NCT00813384.

Pure WO 3 and Ag-WO 3 (mixed solid solutions Ag with WO 3 ) have been successfully synthesized by sol-gel method and the influences of calcination temperature on the particle size, morphology of the WO 3 and Ag-WO 3 nanoparticles were investigated. Powder X-ray diffraction results show that the hexagonal to monoclinic phase transition occurs at calcination temperature varying from 300°C to 500°C. SEM images show that calcination temperature plays an important role in controlling the particle size and morphology of the as-prepared WO 3 and Ag-WO 3 nanoparticles. The NO 2 gas sensing properties of the sensors based on WO 3 and Ag-WO 3 nanoparticles calcined at different temperatures were investigated and the experimental results exhibit that the gas sensing properties of the Ag-WO 3 sensors were superior to those of the pure WO 3 . Especially, the sensor based on Ag-WO 3 calcined at 500°C possessed larger response, better selectivity, faster response/recovery and better longer-term stability to NO 2 than the others at relatively low operating temperature (150°C).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of simvastatin (SIM) and L-carnitine (LC) additives and their interactions, on productive performance and carcass quality of broilers. For this purpose, a feeding trial was conducted, under 3×3 factorial design, using SIM at 0, 1 or 2 g/kg level and LC at 0, 150 or 300 mg/kg level in a basal-diet and originating a total of nine treatments: T1 (control-diet, 0/0), T2 (0/150), T3 (0/300), T4 (1/0), T5(1/150), T6 (1/300), T7 (2/0), T8 (2/150), and T9 (2/300). Feed intake was higher in T2 (4716 g), T7 (4722 g) and T9 (4698 g) than in T1 (4545 g; P<0.05) considering the last growing phase (35-42 days) or whole 42-day production cycle. An improvement of feed efficiency was also observed in T8 (1.64) and T9 (1.67) when compared to T1 (1.77; P<0.05), and these were mainly due to SIM × LC interactions (P<0.05). The LC influenced positively (P<0.05) the weight of eviscerated carcass, breast, drumsticks and abdominal fat, as well as plasma triglycerides level. This findings suggests that the combination of SIM and LC additives have a positive influence on growth performance and carcass traits of broiler chickens.

Background: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of 70–150 μm doxorubicin drug-eluting bead (DEB) transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) with those of 100–300 μm DEB-TACE as first-line treatment in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: We retrospectively investigated 72 patients who underwent TACE with 70–150 μm DEBs (n = 40) or 100–300 μm DEBs (n = 32) for HCC in a tertiary center between March 2013 and May 2019. Initial treatment response and adverse events were assessed using the modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors and the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 5.0, respectively. Results: At the 2-month post-treatment assessment, the complete and objective response rates were 47.5% and 85.0%, respectively, for the 70–150 μm group and 34.4% and 81.3%, respectively, for the 100–300 μm group; however, the difference was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). In total, 65% patients in the 70–150 μm group and 59.4 % patients in the 100-300 μm group experienced at least one symptom of post-embolization syndrome after TACE; all symptoms were classified as grade 1 or 2. There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of post-procedural laboratory changes such as changes in liver enzymes and bilirubin levels (p > 0.05). Laboratory toxicity of grade 3 occurred in three patients, all of which were transient elevation of liver enzyme levels. Hepatobiliary adverse events, such as bile duct injury, biloma, liver abscess, and hepatic infarction, were not observed in either treatment group. Conclusion: This study found no significant difference in tumor response between 70–150 μm and 100–300 μm DEB-TACE. Both groups showed favorable safety profiles, and the difference was not significant.

Thin and thick BaTiO3-polymer nanocomposite dielectric films were prepared using BaTiO3 nanoparticles and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The cubic BaTiO3 (~ 30-60 nm) and tetragonal BaTiO3 (~ 120 nm) synthesized via hydrothermal/solvothermal route were used as nanofillers. The dielectric constant of 9 was achieved for the films of thicknesses in the 150-300 nm range, which corresponds to a capacitance density of 32 nF/cm2. The dissipation factor of the composite film was of a value of 0.04 at 10 kHz. Thick films (~ 16.3 µm) were prepared by doctor blade method and tested for their capacitance and dielectric properties in the 10-100 kHz frequency range for cubic and tetragonal BaTiO3. The BaTiO3 particles were dispersed homogeneously in the films at lower filler loading. The homogenous distribution of BaTiO3 achieved by surface functionalization of BaTiO3 nanoparticles and use of tetragonal BaTiO3 resulted in the improvement of electric properties of thick and thin films.

Cholecystokinin (CCK), CCK octapeptide (CCK-8), and caerulein (Cae) are the most potent trophic factors in the pancreas when given exogenously or released from the intestine. Recent studies have suggested that this growth-promoting effect of CCK was initiated through the occupation of the CCKA receptor. This study was then undertaken to determine whether occupation of the high- or low-affinity CCKA receptor is involved in the growth process and to establish which transduction signals have been selectively activated. As an answer to the first question, rats were infused with CCK JMV-180, a CCKA high-affinity agonist, at doses of 50, 100, 150, and 300 micrograms.kg-1.h-1, or Cae (0.25 micrograms.kg-1.h-1) for 4 days. After rats were killed, their pancreatic weight and contents of protein, DNA, RNA, amylase, and chymotrypsinogen were estimated. To investigate the transduction signals, rats were infused for 30 min to 4 h with 300 micrograms.kg-1.h-1 JMV-180, or pancreatic acini were exposed in vitro to 1 microM JMV-180 for 5 or 30 min. After rats were killed, pancreases were used to monitor tyrosine kinase, phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) 3-kinase, and phospholipase D (PLD) activities. The first set of experiments indicates that JMV-180 caused a dose-dependent effect on pancreas growth, with the 300 micrograms.kg-1 x h-1 dose giving the maximal effect comparable to that of Cae. Furthermore, JMV-180 induced concomitant early increases in tyrosine kinase and PLD activities both in vivo and in vitro and PtdIns 3-kinase in vitro.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

The mechanical properties and the phase stability in yttria and ceria stabilized zirconia containing 0-20wt% A12O3 during aging in air (300°C) and in water vapor (150°C, 180°C, 200°C and 250°C) are investigated in this paper. It is found that water can greatly accelerate the degradation of Y-Ce-TZP. The addition of Al2O3 to Y-Ce-TZP prevents the low temperature degradation in air. Also Al2O3 particles can restrain the phase transformation of tetragonal to monoclinic in Y-Ce-TZP under water vapor condition when the temperature is below 200°C.
