Perencanaan Struktur gedung SMPN 9 Bukittinggi bertujuan untuk meningkatkan daya tampung siswa/I dibukittinggi. Perencanaan ini merencanakan pembangunan struktur gedung untuk mencapai perencanaan yang kuat, aman, serta memenuhi syarat yang telah di atur dalam peraturan-peraturan yang berlaku untuk perencanaan struktur gedung. Perencanaan Struktur SMPN 9 Bukittinggi dipreliminary Desaign menggunakan ETABS. Pembeban yang diinput pada ETABS ialah beban mati, beban hidup, berat sendiri bangunan, beban gempa. Dari hasil preliminary desaign didapatkan haril penulangan balok induk (BI 1) ukuran 35 40 dengan mutu beton 30 Mpa, mutu baja 400 Mpa, penulangan tumpuan atas 4D16, tumpuan bawah 2D16, penulangan lapangan atas 4D16, lapangan bawah 2D16, tulangan sengkang tumpuan 10 100, sengkang lapangan 10 - 150. Kolom ukuran 60 45 mutu beton 30 Mpa, Mutu Baja 400 Mpa tulangan total aksial 24 D 22. Penulangan pelat atap tumpuan 10 150, lapangan 10 - 300. Penulangan pelat lantai tumpuan 10 – 150, lapangan 10 – 300. Dari perencanaan diatas dapat disimpulkan telah memenuhi syarat dan ketentuan yang ada pada peraturan dan standar indonesia.Kata Kunci : Struktur Balok, Kolom, Pelat lantai, Pelat Atap, Pembebanan, Tulangan

This study aimed to investigate the effect of HMGCR inhibitors on egg yolk cholesterol content and its biological mechanisms. Four groups of 180-day-old laying hens (n = 8 cages/group, 6 laying hens/cage) were fed a corn/soybean-based diet (control) and the control diet supplemented with an HMGCR inhibitor at 60, 150, and 300 mg/kg for 4 weeks. The experimental results showed that adding HMGCR inhibitors of 150 mg/kg or more can significantly reduce the cholesterol content in the liver, yolk, serum, and pectoral muscles of laying hens. The RNA-seq results showed that compared with the control group, the addition of HMGCR inhibitors of 150 mg/kg or more to the diet significantly upregulated genes related to cholesterol synthesis in the liver, and the genes involved in steroid synthesis and metabolism, sterol synthesis and metabolism, and cholesterol synthesis and metabolism were all affected by the HMGCR inhibitors. In summary, adding HMGCR inhibitors of 150 mg/kg or more to the diet of hens can significantly reduce the cholesterol content in egg yolk. After the HMGCR inhibitors inhibited the activity of the liver HMGCR, they also altered the expression of genes related to cholesterol synthesis, bile acid synthesis, and cholesterol transport in the liver, and ultimately reduced cholesterol synthesis and cholesterol transport to the egg yolk.

Background:Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are effective in reducing pain and stiffness in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients (pts).1However, continuous use of NSAIDs may lead to gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and renal toxicity.2Therefore, reduction in NSAID intake is desirable in AS pts.Objectives:To evaluate the long-term effect of secukinumab (SEC) on NSAID intake in AS pts pooled from the 3 SEC trials (MEASURE [M] 2-4).Methods:NSAID intake was evaluated prospectively using the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society (ASAS)-NSAID score.3The score was determined by type of NSAID, daily dose, and weights from frequency of intake, as well as % of time use in period. An ASAS-NSAID score of ‘0’ indicates no NSAID intake. Pts with ASAS-NSAID score >0 at baseline (BL) were analysed. SEC dose groups were defined as Any 150 or 300 mg, as defined for pooled safety analyses for SEC. Pts with initial placebo treatment (up to 24 weeks) were included in their respective post-Week 24 SEC dose groups to analyse ASAS-NSAID score at Year (Y) 2 (M2-4), Y3 (M2-3) and Y4 (M2) from BL. From the ASAS-NSAID score at BL, the mean change in ASAS-NSAID score, proportion of pts achieving 50% reduction, and the proportion of pts with score <10 were evaluated for each dose at Y2, 3 and 4. Based on the distribution of ASAS-NSAID scores at BL, 2 subgroups were evaluated: (i) <75 (low user); (ii) ≥75 (high user).Results:Overall, 562 pts (SEC: 150 mg, N=467; 300 mg, N=95) were analysed. The mean ASAS-NSAID score decreased with time in both dose groups. Greater improvements were observed in high NSAID users and with longer treatment exposure (Figure). Proportion of pts who achieved 50% reduction in ASAS-NSAID score increased with time in both SEC 150 and 300 mg groups. Hipertensi adalah naiknya tekanan darah sistolik dan diastolik lebih dari 140/90. Salah satu tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai antihipertensi adalah matoa yang mengandung senyawa Quercetin-3-O-rhamnoside dan Kaemferol 3-O-rhamnoside yang diyakini berpotensi sebagai antihipertensi. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti ingin mengetahui persentase penurunan blood flow pada tikus jantan yang diinduksi angiotensin II menggunakan ekstrak etanol daun matoa. Pengerjaan ini dimulai dengan membuat ekstrak etanol dari daun matoa dan membaginya dalam 3 variasi dosis, yaitu 75 mg/kgBB, 150 mg/kgBB, dan 300 mg/kgBB, kemudian diberikan perlakuan ke hewan uji yang telah diinduksi angiotensin II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi 3 dosis ekstrak etanol daun matoa dengan dosis 75 mg/kgBB, 150 mg/kgBB, dan 300 mg/kgBB, menunjukkan hasil berbeda. Ekstrak etanol daun matoa dengan dosis 75 mg/kgBB memiliki persentase penurunan 44.47%. Ekstrak etanol daun matoa dengan dosis 150 mg/kgBB memiliki persentase penurunan 53.36%. Ekstrak etanol daun matoa dengan dosis 300 mg/kgBB memiliki persentase penurunan 67.35%. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak terbaik yang berpotensi dalam menurunkan sirkulasi aliran darah atau blood flow adalah ekstrak etanol daun matoa dosis 300 mg/kgBB.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the effect of secukinumab on radiographic progression through 52 weeks in patients with PsA from the FUTURE 5 study. Methods Patients with active PsA, stratified by prior anti-TNF use (naïve or inadequate response), were randomized to s.c. secukinumab 300 mg load (300 mg), 150 mg load (150 mg), 150 mg no load regimens or placebo at baseline, at weeks 1, 2 and 3 and every 4 weeks starting at week 4. Radiographic progression was assessed by change in van der Heijde-modified total Sharp score (vdH-mTSS; mean of two readers). Statistical analysis used a linear mixed-effects model (random slope) at weeks 24 and 52, and observed data at week 52. Assessments at week 52 included additional efficacy endpoints (non-responders imputation and mixed-effects models for repeated measures) and safety. Results The majority (86.6%) of patients completed 52 weeks of treatment. The proportion of patients with no radiographic progression (change from baseline in vdH-mTSS ⩽0.5) was 91.8, 85.2 and 87.2% in 300, 150 and 150 mg no load groups, respectively, at week 52. The change in vdH-mTSS from baseline to week 52 using random slope [mean change (s.e.)] was –0.18 (0.17), 0.11 (0.18) and –0.20 (0.18) in 300, 150 and 150 mg no load groups, respectively; the corresponding observed data [mean change (s.d.)] was –0.09 (1.02), 0.13 (1.39) and 0.21 (1.15). Clinical efficacy endpoints were sustained, and no new or unexpected safety signals were reported through 52 weeks. Conclusion Secukinumab 300 and 150 mg with or without s.c. loading regimen provided sustained low rates of radiographic progression through 52 weeks of treatment. Introduction: Secukinumab has demonstrated sustained long-term efficacy for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, but efficacy in mild to moderate psoriasis has not been rigorously evaluated. The secukinumab phase 3 clinical trial program included patients with mild to moderate psoriasis among populations with active psoriatic arthritis (EXCEED and FUTURE 2-5; NCT02745080, NCT01752634, NCT01989468, NCT02294227, and NCT02404350), and among patients with moderate to severe palmoplantar psoriasis (GESTURE; NCT01806597). Here, we report efficacy and safety of secukinumab in a pooled population of patients with mild to moderate psoriasis. Methods: This post hoc analysis included patients from the phase 3 EXCEED, FUTURE 2-5, and GESTURE trials, with mild to moderate psoriasis defined as either a baseline affected body surface area (BSA) of 3%-10% or a baseline Investigator’s Global Assessment modified 2011 score (IGA) of 2 or 3. Patients were pooled by treatment received through Week 16 (treatment period 1) and from Weeks 16 to 52 (treatment period 2), according to the following groups: treatment period 1 (secukinumab 300 mg, secukinumab 150 mg, or placebo) and treatment period 2 (secukinumab 300 mg or secukinumab 150 mg). Efficacy was assessed by the proportion of patients achieving 75% improvement in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI75), PASI90, and PASI100 among patients with a BSA 3%-10%; and by IGA 0/1 response with ≥2-point improvement among patients with baseline IGA score of 2 or 3. Descriptive statistics were reported for each outcome. Missing data were imputed using non-responder imputation. Results: Overall, 654 patients and 971 patients had mild to moderate psoriasis at baseline as defined by a BSA of 3%-10% or IGA score of 2 or 3, respectively. Demographics and baseline disease characteristics were similar between populations defined by BSA and by IGA. Among patients with a baseline BSA of 3%-10%, secukinumab resulted in greater achievement of PASI75/90/100 vs placebo at Week 12 (secukinumab 300 mg: 62.8%/44.4%/33.1%; secukinumab 150 mg: 48.0%/29.1%/19.4%; placebo: 11.7%/9.0%/8.0%), with increased responses at Week 52 (secukinumab 300 mg: 65.7%/56.5%/47.3%; secukinumab 150 mg: 58.1%/40.5%/31.3%). The proportion of patients with baseline IGA=2 or 3 achieving IGA 0/1 response with ≥2-point improvement was greater among patients receiving secukinumab 300 mg (46.6%) or 150 mg (37.2%) than placebo (8.6%) at Week 12, with increased responses at Week 52 (secukinumab 300 mg: 52.5%; secukinumab 150 mg: 44.4%). Conclusions: Secukinumab led to improvements in measures of disease severity among patients with mild to moderate psoriasis after 12 weeks of treatment vs placebo in a pooled analysis of patients with psoriatic arthritis or palmoplantar psoriasis. Both doses of secukinumab showed increased efficacy from Week 12 to Week 52.

AbstractA survey of the occurrence of Dirofilaria immitis, Borrelia burgdorferi, Ehrlichia canis and Anaplasma phagocytophium in dogs was undertaken in the People's Republic of China between October 2008 and October 2009. A total of 600 blood samples were taken from dogs in four cities in China: 300 in Beijing, 150 in Shenzhen, 30 in Shanghai and 120 in Zhengzhou. All samples were tested for the heartworm antigen and antibodies of canine B. burgdorferi, E. canis and A. phagocytophium by using the canine SNAP® 4Dx® test kit. The occurrence of D. immitis, B. burgdorferi, E. canis and A. phagocytophium was 1.17% (7/600), 0.17% (1/600), 2.17% (13/600) and 0.5% (3/600), respectively. In Shenzhen city 2% (3/150), 8.67% (13/150) and 2% (3/150) of samples were positive for D. immitis, E. canis and A. phagocytophium, respectively. The occurrence of heartworm antigen was 0.33% (1/300) in Beijing, 2.00% (3/150) in Shenzhen, 3.33% (1/30) in Shanghai and 1.67% (2/120) in Zhengzhou. We found E. canis and A. phagocytophium only at one site, Shenzhen, while the only occurrence of B. burgdorferi was at Beijing. In conclusion, the dog population in China is at potential risk for D. immitis, B. burgdorferi, E. canis and A. phagocytophium infection, the risk being especially high in southern China.

Foram avaliadas características do sistema radicular (pré e pós-pastejo) dos capins aruana e tanzânia submetidos a doses de nitrogênio (150 e 300 kg ha-1 de N) e pastejados por ovinos em lotação rotacionada com três a sete dias de pastejo e período de descanso variável. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos completos casualizados (dois) com duas repetições, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas (parcelas =capins e subparcelas=doses de N) e medidas repetidas no tempo. No pré-pastejo, o capim-tanzânia, na média entre doses de N e períodos de pastejo, apresentou maior quantidade de massa seca da matéria orgânica (MSMO) (1,7 mg cm-3 de solo) que o capim-aruana (1,2 mg cm-3 de solo), além de maior comprimento de raízes (119,1 cm cm-3 de solo e 68,7 cm cm-3 de solo, respectivamente). A dose de 300 kg ha-1 de N contribuiu para maior comprimento do sistema radicular (107,1 cm cm-3 de solo) que a dose de 150 kg ha-1 de N (80,7 cm cm-3 de solo). O crescimento radicular pós-pastejo demonstrou similaridade de comportamento entre as variáveis mensuradas, de modo que o crescimento de raízes se tornou mais evidente após a segunda semana de rebrotação. Na média de capins, doses de N e idades de crescimento, no período equivalente ao outono/inverno, o crescimento de raízes (em MSMO foi de 3,9 mg 100 cm-3) aumentou para 12,9 mg 100 cm-3 no inverno, caiu para 4,7 mg 100 cm-3 na primavera e elevou novamente para 17 mg 100 cm-3 no verão. Comportamento semelhante foi observado para comprimento e superfície de raízes, coincidindo os períodos de maior crescimento com os de maior pluviosidade. A dose de 150 kg ha-1 de N promoveu maior crescimento em comprimento e superfície de raízes que a dose de 300 kg ha-1 de N nos períodos de maior pluviosidade.

Tigernuts have so many food and medicinal potentials as it contains some amount of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. Despite the food and health benefits associated with this tuber, its production in southern Nigeria is at an abysmal level probably due to lack of knowledge for its production or utility. This experiment was conducted at the University of Nigeria Teaching and Research Farm to evaluate the effect of seven complementary fertilizer treatments on the growth and yield of tigernut. The experiment is an attempt to develop appropriate agronomic practice that will assure regular cultivation culture. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with seven fertilizer treatments and replicated 10 times. Treatments were NPK 15:15:15 (300 kg/ha), NPK 20:10:10 (300 kg/ha), poultry manure, PM, (5 t/ha), NPK 15:15:15 (150 kg/ha) + 3 t/ha PM, NPK 20:10:10 (150 kg/ha) + 3 t/ha PM, K-nitrate (100 kg/ha) + Ca-nitrate (100 kg/ha) + 2.5 t/ha PM and control (No fertilizer application). Fertilizer treatments significantly (p < 0.05) influenced growth and yield parameters except fresh weight of leaves, length of longest root and weight of seed planted. Significantly (p < 0.05) superior values of growth and yield parameters were obtained in plants grown with NPK 15:15:15 (300 kg/ha), followed closely by the application of NPK 20:10:10 at 150 kg/ha plus 3 t/ha PM. This study recommends application of NPK 15:15:15 (300 kg/ha) or the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizer (NPK 20:10:10 at 150 kg/ha plus 3 t/ha PM) to boost the yield and growth of tigernut.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a deadly vascular disease characterized by multiple disparate molecular pathways controlling vasoconstriction and hyperproliferation throughout the pulmonary vasculature. Importantly, the selection and proliferation of hardier pulmonary endothelial cells in PH may describe the origins of the anti-apoptotic and hyperproliferative phenotypes characterizing severe PH pathogenesis. However, the importance of cellular survival in mediating intercellular transfer of regulatory factors during PH progression has yet to be clearly defined. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) may coordinately regulate PH progression, but their integrative functions have been difficult to describe with conventional methods. Recently, using a network-based bioinformatics approach, we identified the miR-130/301 family as a master regulator governing pulmonary vascular proliferation as well as vasoconstriction and vessel stiffening in PH through repression of its direct target gene PPARγ. In this study, we additionally identify miR-130/301 as a regulator of cellular survival and show that the dysregulation of miR-130/301 in PH increases apoptotic activity in pulmonary arterial endothelial cells. Furthermore, we identify NCOA3 and PTEN as direct targets of miR-130/301 through which this miRNA family may control apoptotic signaling in the pulmonary vasculature. Our observations provide critical insight into the systems-level regulation of both cellular survival and proliferation by the miR-130/301 family in PH pathogenesis. Specifically, this model establishes a mechanistic framework describing the importance of miR-130/301 in the initiating apoptotic events of PH development. Moreover, our study suggests broad propositions for miRNA-based therapeutics for treating PH and further endorses the application of in silico network theory to decipher the combinatorial molecular origins of complex diseases such as PH.

Neoliberalism has been on the rise at least since the mid-1980s. The economization of the social and the increasing globalization of capital show all the characteristics of a neoliberal governmentality, as Michel Foucault has analyzed it (cf. Foucault 2008). Gilles Deleuze described this process as a new transformation of the disciplinary society into a control society, which he briefly sketched and described in his far-sighted and ‘prophetic’ essay (cf. Deleuze 1992). However, it is not just as if Deleuze is saying “Fuck ould Foucault, move over.” Rather, Deleuze shows that Foucault’s analysis revealed that the disciplinary society (with its heyday in the 18th, 19th, and much of the 20th century) was only the actual (still present but disappearing) of the then pertinent predicament, whereas the society of control was already chomping-

The authorities in charge of managing our Andean basins work in unimaginable water-powered landscapes from the Peruvian legislator point of view. They should generate and apply peculiar mechanisms. Why? Because the national legislator is traditionally positioned on the coast, a region very different to the Andean highlands and punas. The use of ethnographic evidence coming from a drainage basin in the Central Andes (Mantaro River, Junin) lets me depict in detail how public officers appeal to mechanisms of location, adaptation and regulation in order to adjust the official regulations, to cover the needs of the farming organizations of watering, and to affirm their positions as representatives of the Peruvian government. The consequence is that they exceed and also violate the regulatory channels that control their administrative functions. In this way, they incorporate a new function to their official position, that is, to develop peculiar administrative patterns to process the tightness between the inflexibility of the State Water Right and the demands of recognition and balance that the andean watering organizations propose to the Government.
Las autoridades encargadas de gestionar nuestras cuencas andinas ejercen sus funciones en paisajes hidráulicos inimaginables para el legislador peruano. Para ello deben generar y aplicar mecanismos peculiares. ¿Por qué? Porque el legislador nacional se encuentra tradicionalmente parapetado en la costa, una región muy diferente a las sierras y punas andinas. El uso de evidencia etnográfica proveniente de una cuenca hidrográfica de los Andes Centrales (Río Mantaro, Junín) me permite detallar cómo los funcionarios estatales apelan a los mecanismos de localización, adaptación y regularización con el fin de modular la normatividad oficial, atender las necesidades de las organizaciones campesinas de riego y afirmar su papel como representantes del Estado peruano. El resultado es que desbordan y hasta violan los cauces normativos que regulan sus funciones administrativas. De este modo, incorporan una nueva función a su papel oficial que consiste en desarrollar peculiares prácticas administrativas para procesar la tensión entre la rigidez del derecho estatal de aguas y las demandas de reconocimiento y articulación que los regantes andinos le plantean al Estado.

A search for neutrinoless double-beta decay (0vBB) is performed using 36.55 g of the isotope Nd-150 with 5.25 y of data from the NEMO experiment. A complete background model for this source foil is constructed using a binned likelihood fit across several observables in multiple control channels. The 2vBB decay half-life is measured to be T(2v) = 9.34 +/- 0.22 (stat.) [+0.60, -0.59] (syst.) x 10^18 y, which represents the most precise measurement for this isotope to date. A multivariate analysis is performed in the search for 0vBB decay. As no evidence for 0vBB decay is observed, lower limits are obtained on the half-lives for several underlying beyond standard model mechanisms. The observed lower limit assuming a light Majorana neutrino exchange is T(0v) > 18.96 x 10^21 y at 90% CL, corresponding to an upper limit on the effective neutrino mass of < (2.64--8.64) eV, representing the most stringent limit obtained with the isotope Nd-150.

Here we report the effect of annealing/dewetting temperature on the development of plasmonic gold (Au) nanoislands on anatase titanium dioxide (TiO2) film. A 140 nm thick TiO2 film was deposited using atomic layer deposition (ALD) and 6 nm Au was deposited using e-beam sputtering. Samples were annealed at 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 ˚C for 3 minutes and analyzed using ellipsometer, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy. Plasmonic Au nanoislands formed at annealing conditions of temperature above 200 ˚C for 3 minutes. Also, no phase change of anatase TiO2 was found for annealing temperatures below 350 ˚C for a heating period of 3 minutes.

Abstract This paper investigates open-loop control of the mixing between an inner stream and an outer stream in a coaxial combustor geometry. The inner and outer air streams enter the combustor geometry at different temperatures and mimic a gaseous fuel and combustion air stream respectively. Of specific interest in this study is the behavior of the coherent structures in the coaxial jet streams, and the manipulation of these coherent structures with controlled perturbation to enhance jet-spreading and scalar-mixing. The spectra of the unforced flow reveal the presence of a dominant coherent mode at 100 Hz (identified as the fundamental mode fo), as well as 150 Hz (3 fo/2) and 300 Hz (3 fo). Single-mode forcing of both the inner-jet and the outer-jet at 100 Hz, 150 Hz, 300 Hz, and 1 kHz is explored, and attention is focused on the spreading of the inner-jet shear layer and the outer-jet shear layer. It is observed that the 300 Hz mode shows the greatest enhancement in the spreading rate of the velocity shear-layer in the near field (x/D &lt; 1), while downstream of x/D = 1, the 100 Hz appears to show the most significant effect. Scalar mixing is also significantly enhanced, with the 300 Hz forcing showing the largest enhancement. Dual-mode forcing is also investigated with 100 Hz inner-jet, 300 Hz outer-jet forcing and 300 Hz inner-jet, 100 Hz outer-jet forcing. The 100 Hz inner-jet, 300 Hz outer-jet forcing is shown to lead to greater enhancements in scalar mixing man all other cases considered.

The pulsed time structure, high intensity, and tight collimation of synchrotron x-ray sources provide new opportunities for the investigation of transient physical properties. The time structure of the x-rays from a synchrotron source is typically 150-ps long pulses separated by 300 ns. By triggering an experiment in sync with these x-ray bursts, measurements can be made with 150-ps resolution as long as the x-ray detector can resolve the 300-ns pulse spacing. Using streak cameras, time resolution down to picoseconds can be achieved by time resolving within a single bunch since the peak intensity within a bunch is ~3 × 1016 photons/s. Next generation sources such as an undulator at the Advanced Photon Source will be 100–1000 times brighter than presently available sources. Nanosecond studies of pulsed laser melting and regrowth of Si and Ge are described, and related experiments involving high-heat flow and supercooled liquid structure are discussed. Single shot crystallography and experiments using the pulsed time structure for neV energy resolution x-ray diffraction via Mossbauer transitions are also discussed.

Two major components of insensitive munition formulations, nitroguanidine (NQ) and 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO), are highly water soluble and therefore likely to photo-transform while in solution in the environment. The ecotoxicities of NQ and NTO solutions are known to increase with UV exposure, but a detailed accounting of aqueous degradation rates, products, and pathways under different exposure wavelengths is currently lacking. We irradiated aqueous solutions of NQ and NTO over a 32-h period at three ultraviolet wavelengths and analyzed their degradation rates and transformation products. NQ was completely degraded by 30 min at 254 nm and by 4 h at 300 nm, but it was only 10% degraded after 32 h at 350 nm. Mass recoveries of NQ and its transformation products were >80% for all three wavelengths. NTO degradation was greatest at 300 nm with 3% remaining after 32 h, followed by 254 nm (7% remaining) and 350 nm (20% remaining). Mass recoveries of NTO and its transformation products were high for the first 8 h but decreased to 22–48% by 32 h. Environmental half-lives of NQ and NTO in pure water were estimated as 4 and 6 days, respectively. We propose photo-degradation pathways for NQ and NTO supported by observed and quantified degradation products and changes in solution pH.

Transportation agencies in northern environments spend a considerable amount of their budget on salt for winter operations. For example, in the state of Indiana, there are approximately 120 salt storage facilities distributed throughout the state and the state expends between 30 M USD and 60 M USD on inventory and delivery each year. Historical techniques of relying on visual estimates of salt stockpiles can be inaccurate and unhelpful for managing the supply chain during the winter or planning for re-supply during the summer months. This project report describes the implementation of a portable and permanent LiDAR system that can be used to inventory indoor stockpiles of salt in under 15 min and describes how this system has been deployed over 300 times at over 120 facilities. A quick and easy accuracy test, based on the conservation of volume, was used to provide an independent check on the system performance by repositioning portions of the salt pile. Those tests indicated stockpile volumes can be estimated with an accuracy of 1%–3% of indicated stockpile volumes. The report concludes by discussing how this technology can be permanently installed for systematic monitoring throughout the year.

Summary and main findings 1.Twelve of the 32 local authorities automatically pay school clothing grant to families who receive a qualifying benefit administered by the local authority such as Housing Benefit or income-related Council Tax reduction. 2.School uniform banks report difficulties that are created for families through uniform policies, for example requiring 100% black shoes, items with logos, tartan and hard to find colours, such as turquoise or maroon. 3.In 2022-23 there was a drop in the number of children for whom school clothing grant was awarded while the percentage of children living in poverty increased. A possible explanation for this drop is the provision of universal free school meals. Previously families would have been applying for both free school meals and clothing grant at the same time. This highlights the need to make it easier to receive school clothing grant. 4.Local authorities do not record information in terms of the Scottish Government’s 6 priority family groups for those applying for and/or receiving school clothing grant. Thus, local authorities cannot monitor if certain groups are less likely to apply for or receive the grant under their local Child Poverty Action Plans. 5.Eighteen local authorities have never paid more than the national minimum school clothing grant. However, other local authorities have taken a different approach, for example, in 2023-2024 East Dunbartonshire is providing double the national minimum school clothing grant (£240 for primary and £300 for secondary pupils). In 2022-2023 six authorities made an extra payment over the winter months ranging from £20 to £150.

There were two main objectives of this research. The first objective was to verify SINTEFs' pipe/soil interaction model test results, on which the A.G.A. Level 2 and 3 soil models are based. The second objective was to quantify the amount of conservatives built into the model equations for stiffer clay soils (above 30 psf shear strength). The original testing (at SINTEF) was done in soft clay soils (30 psf), and extrapolations to stiffer soils were done very conservatively, because data was not available. To accomplish these two objectives, pipe-soil interaction model tests were conducted at Texas A and M University in clay soils of approximately 30, 75, and 150 psf shear strength. Twenty-seven monotonic loading tests, and fifty-seven cyclic tests concluding with pipe break-out were performed. This is roughly four times the amount of testing originally done on clay by SINTEF. The test parameters and results are summarized in Table 1-1 for the monotonic loading tests, and Table 1-2 for the cyclic (displacement controlled) loading tests.

За дендрометричними і санітарними характеристиками та показника- ми декоративності з’ясовували сучасний стан вікових екземплярів дубу звичайного на території парку культури та відпочинку ім. Федора Мер- шавцева (м. Кривий Ріг). В межах території парку виявлено 64 екземп- ляри вікових дерев дубу звичайного. Вони згруповані у чотири локації: Фундатори Криворіжжя (чотири дерева), Криворізька діброва (46 дерев), Криворізький квартет (п’ять дерев), Гданцівські дуби (дев’ять дерев). Ві- кові дерева парку характеризуються: 1) унікальними дендрометричними показниками висоти дерева (від 14 м до 38 м, в середньому 25 м) та ді- аметру стовбуру (від 37 см до 102 см, в середньому 62 см); 2) задовіль- ним санітарним станом та високою естетичністю; 3) наявністю вікових (100–200 років) та багатовікових (200–1000 років) екземплярів (вік двох дерев перевищує 300 р., вік восьми дерев перевищує офіційний вік на- шого міста – 245 р.). Рекомендовано створення ботанічної пам’ятки природи «Вікові дерева дубу звичайного парку імені Федора Мершавцева (м. Кривий Ріг)».

Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) technology collects geochemical data at a fraction of the cost of traditional laboratory methods. Although the pXRF spectrometer provides concentrations for 41 elements, only a subset of these elements meet the criteria for definitive, quantitative, and qualitative data. However, high-quality pXRF data obtained by correct application of analytical protocols, can provide robust insight to stratigraphy and sediment characteristics that are often not observed by, for example, visual core logging, grain size analysis, and geophysical logging. We present examples of geochemical results obtained from pXRF analysis of drill core samples from three boreholes located in Canada, that demonstrate: 1) Definitive stratigraphic boundaries observed in geochemical changes obtained from 380 analyses collected over 150 m of core, which intersects three Ordovician sedimentary formations and Precambrian granite. These boundaries could not be reconciled by traditional visual core logging methods. 2) Significant elemental concentration changes observed in 120 samples collected in each of two ~120 m deep boreholes located in a confined paleo-glacial foreland basin. The collected geochemical data provide insight to sediment provenance and stratigraphic relationships that were previously unknown. 3) Abrupt changes in the geochemical signature in a subset of 135 samples collected from a 151 m deep borehole intersecting Quaternary glacial derived till, sands, and ahomogeneous silt and clay succession. These data provide a platform for discussion on ice sheet dynamics, changes in depositional setting, and changes in provenance. Results from each of these studies highlights previously unknown (invisible) geological information revealed through geochemical analyses. A significant benefit of using pXRF technology is refining sampling strategies in near real time and the ability to increase sample density at geochemical boundaries with little increase in analysis time or budget. The data also provide an opportunity to establish a chemostratigraphic framework that complements other stratigraphic correlation techniques, including geophysical methods. Overall, data collected with pXRF technology provide new insights into topics such as spatial correlations, facies changes, provenance changes, and depositional environment changes.

Background: COVID-19 had a huge impact on the wellbeing of healthcare workers (HCWs). This is well documented during the first peak of the pandemic. With cases in the UK rising for a third peak, hospitalisations and deaths surpassing the first, there is very little known about the mental health of HCWs during this time. Methods: Using a questionnaire, data was collected from patient-facing staff at Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Trust to quantify and compare the period prevalence of symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD during the first peak (P1: March-May 2020) and third peak (P3: December 2020-Feburary 2021) of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as wellbeing service use, demographics of responders and what they found most difficult during the peaks. Results: Of 158 responders, only 22·4% felt they had enough access to wellbeing services during P1 and 21·5% in P3. Of those who used wellbeing services 34·4% found them useful in P1 and 34·6% in P3. 70·3% of responders felt that not enough was done for staff wellbeing. The median anxiety score decreased from P1 (10(range 5-17)) to P3 (8(range 4-16)) p=0·031. Under 30-year-olds’ depression and PTSD scores increased from P1 to P3 (depression: P1 7(1-11), P3 8(3-14), p=0·048, PTSD: P1 4(0-7) peak 3 5(2-9), p=0·037). Several groups showed a decrease in anxiety scores from P1 to P3 including; over 30-year-olds (P1 10(5-17), P3 7(3-15) p=0·002), BME responders (P1 8(3·75-15) P3 6·5(1-12) p=0·006), AHP (P1 14(7-19), P3 11(5-19) p=0·005), ITU workers (P1 15(8-18·25) P3 12(5·75-18·25) p=0·004), and those who were redeployed (P1 8(5-18·25), P3 5(2-14·75), p=0·032). Conclusion: We have observed changes in mental health symptoms within the study population as the peaks of the pandemic continue. With the majority of responders reporting they felt not enough had been done for their wellbeing support - and of those who used the wellbeing services only around 1/3 felt they were useful - we hope that this paper can help inform wellbeing provision and identify groups at higher risk of developing mental health symptoms.

Based on a multi-attribute assessment of the environmental impacts and challenges associated with global Bitcoin (BTC) mining activities around the globe, we call for urgent action by the scientific, policy, and advocacy communities. The worldwide BTC mining network consumed 173.42 TWh of electricity during the 2020–2021 period, bigger than the electricity consumption of most nations. The mining process emitted over 85.89 Mt of CO2eq in the same timeframe, equivalent to the emission caused by burning 84 billion pounds of coal or running 190 natural gas-fired power plants. The environmental footprint of BTC mining is not limited to greenhouse gas emissions. In 2020–2021, the global water footprint of BTC mining was about 1.65 km 3, more than the domestic water use of 300 million people in rural Sub-Saharan Africa. The land footprint of the global BTC mining network during this period was more than 1,870 square kilometers, 1.4 times the area of Los Angeles. These striking numbers highlight the heavy reliance of the BTC network on fossil fuels and natural resource-intensive energy sources, resulting in major but unmonitored and unregulated environmental footprints. To mitigate the environmental costs of BTC mining, immediate policy interventions, technological advancements, and scientific research are crucial. Proposed measures include enhanced transparency, economic and regulatory tools, developing energy-efficient alternative coins, and the adoption of greener blockchain validation protocols.
