The motive domains of control and truth align with conceptions of God's omnipotence and omniscience, but the link between control-versus truth-dominant motives and God concepts remains unclear. A convergence account predicts a positive association between these variables; a divergence account predicts an inverse association. Furthermore, the causal direction of an association under either account is unknown. To test between these competing accounts, Study 1 investigated whether people with God concepts dominant in control versus truth report motives that are also control- (vs. truth-) dominant. To investigate causality, Study 2 manipulated God concepts and measured motive dominance; Study 3 manipulated motives and measured God concepts. Study 4 replicated Study 1 with methodological enhancements. Collectively, results supported the convergence account, indicating that God concepts influence motive predominance. By integrating motivation and religious cognition research, this work elucidates the relations between beliefs about God's attributes and personal motives.

We then compute the cohomology of this category. AbstractLet k be a number field. We describe the category of Laumon 1-isomotives over k as the universal category in the sense of M. Nori associated with a quiver representation built out of smooth proper k-curves with two disjoint effective divisors and a notion of for such “curves with modulus”. This result extends and relies on a theorem of J. Ayoub and L. Barbieri-Viale that describes Deligne's category of 1-isomotives in terms of Nori's Abelian category of motives.

Two studies involving high school physical education students were conducted to investigate associations between 2 x 2 self-presentation motives and theorized antecedents. In Study 1 (n = 445), using path analysis, we found that positive predictive pathways emerged from fear of negative evaluation, trait agency and communion, self-presentational efficacy, and social self-efficacy to 2 x 2 motives. In Study 2 (n = 301), using cluster analysis, we found that approximately half the cohort was classified into a high motive endorsement cluster and half into a low motive endorsement cluster. The high cluster had significantly higher 2 x 2 motive, fear of negative evaluation, trait agency and communion, and self-efficacy scores. This work represents the first concerted effort to empirically examine proposed antecedents of 2 x 2 motives and serves to inform theorists and practitioners about dispositional and context-specific factors that may align with these motives.

Research suggests that touch promotes relationship well-being but has failed to consider motives for touch. We assessed general (Study 1) and daily (Study 2) approach and avoidance motives for touch and tested their precursors and consequences. Controlling for relationship quality and the other motive, greater attachment avoidance predicted lower approach and greater avoidance motives for touch in general but did not predict motives in daily life. Greater attachment anxiety simultaneously predicted greater approach and avoidance motives for touch in both studies suggesting anxiously attached people have ambivalent motives for touch. Critically, one’s own and one’s partner’s approach motives for touch predicted greater daily relationship well-being, whereas own and partner avoidance motives predicted poorer daily relationship well-being. We observed indirect effects linking attachment insecurity to relationship well-being through daily motives for touch. These results underscore the importance of attending to touch motives in future work, including future intervention work.

Background Why do we eat? Our motives for eating are diverse, ranging from hunger and liking to social norms and affect regulation. Although eating motives can vary from eating event to eating event, which implies substantial moment-to-moment differences, current ways of measuring eating motives rely on single timepoint questionnaires that assess eating motives as situation-stable dispositions (traits). However, mobile technologies including smartphones allow eating events and motives to be captured in real time and real life, thus capturing experienced eating motives in-the-moment (states). Objective This study aimed to examine differences between why people think they eat (trait motives) and why they eat in the moment of consumption (state motives) by comparing a dispositional (trait) and an in-the-moment (state) assessment of eating motives. Methods A total of 15 basic eating motives included in The Eating Motivation Survey (ie, liking, habit, need and hunger, health, convenience, pleasure, traditional eating, natural concerns, sociability, price, visual appeal, weight control, affect regulation, social norms, and social image) were assessed in 35 participants using 2 methodological approaches: (1) a single timepoint dispositional assessment and (2) a smartphone-based ecological momentary assessment (EMA) across 8 days (N=888 meals) capturing eating motives in the moment of eating. Similarities between dispositional and in-the-moment eating motive profiles were assessed according to 4 different indices of profile similarity, that is, overall fit, shape, scatter, and elevation. Moreover, a visualized person × motive data matrix was created to visualize and analyze between- and within-person differences in trait and state eating motives. Results Similarity analyses yielded a good overall fit between the trait and state eating motive profiles across participants, indicated by a double-entry intraclass correlation of 0.52 (P<.001). However, although trait and state motives revealed a comparable rank order (r=0.65; P<.001), trait motives overestimated 12 of 15 state motives (P<.001; d=1.97). Specifically, the participants assumed that 6 motives (need and hunger, price, habit, sociability, traditional eating, and natural concerns) are more essential for eating than they actually were in the moment (d>0.8). Furthermore, the visualized person × motive data matrix revealed substantial interindividual differences in intraindividual motive profiles. Conclusions For a comprehensive understanding of why we eat what we eat, dispositional assessments need to be extended by in-the-moment assessments of eating motives. Smartphone-based EMAs reveal considerable intra- and interindividual differences in eating motives, which are not captured by single timepoint dispositional assessments. Targeting these differences between why people think they eat what they eat and why they actually eat in the moment may hold great promise for tailored mobile health interventions facilitating behavior changes.

We show that the subcategory of mixed Tate motives in Voevodsky’s derived category of motives is not closed under infinite products. In fact, the infinite product$\prod _{n=1}^{\infty }\mathbf{Q}(0)$is not mixed Tate. More generally, the inclusions of several subcategories of motives do not have left or right adjoints. The proofs use the failure of finite generation for Chow groups in various contexts. In the positive direction, we show that for any scheme of finite type over a field whose motive is mixed Tate, the Chow groups are finitely generated.

The Abraham-motive in Matthew 1-4 Matthew’s indication of Jesus as the Son of David and the Son of Abraham develop along two lines in Matthew’s story. Firstly, is Jesus portrayed as the Son of David, who represents the “Jewish” line in the story. And secondly Matthew is using Jesus as Son of Abraham to develop the “gentile” line in the story. Matthew uses the Abraham motives in chapters 1-4 to illustrate the inclusion of the gentiles into the new people of God. Under discussion are the gentile women in the genealogy and other possible motives that reflect the story of Abraham.

This study examines the phenomenon of misuse of Prosperous Family Cards (KKS) carried out by Family Beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (KPM-PKH) in Babakan Village, Sandubaya District, Mataram City. This research aims to (1) find out the forms of abuse committed by KPM-PKH and (2) the motives behind KPM-PKH committing acts of abuse KKS. The study used Alfred Schutz's motive theory that focused on Because of Motive and In Order to Motive to analyze the motives of actors committing KKS abuse. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach to obtaining more in-depth data. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observations and documentation. The data analysis used is the Milles and Huberman model, namely by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study found that the form of KKS abuse carried out by KPM-PKH in Babakan Village was by practicing KKS pawns. In the practice of pawn KKS researchers found that there are two stages passed by KPM-PKH individuals, namely (1) negotiations and (2) transactions. The Reason for the Motives behind KPM's conduct of KKS pawn actions is (1) financial difficulties (2) ease of making transactions (3) environmental influences (4) monitoring and prevention efforts that are less than optimal (5) unequivocal sanctions. While In Order to Motive the actors doing KKS pawns are (1) obtaining money loans (2) meeting unexpected and urgent needs (3) obtaining loans faster.

This study aims to explore the obscuration of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices carried out by companies and their impacts on the ineffectiveness of social accounting. Three problems were investigated in this study, including 1) what is the motive behind the CSR practice, 2) how is the CSR obscuration pattern, and 3) how the CSR obscuration impacts the effectiveness of social accounting. This study was conducted on 28 companies that were members of the mining industries going public on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2021. To analyze the data, content analysis and taxonomy methods were employed. The results showcased an obscuration of CSR practices from their original goals. The obscuration of CSR could be seen from the motives underlying the CSR implementation, which prioritized economic motives rather than social motives. The five patterns of CSR obscuration comprised 1) motive shifting, 2) meeting the litigation, 3) emphasis on specific CSR implementation, 4) internal stakeholder orientation and support for company operations, and 5) being wrapped or entrusted with company promotion. As a result of the CSR obscuration, it impacted 1) the ineffectiveness of social accounting and 2) the shift in the CSR value from its original purposes.

In this paper we construct a $\mathbb{Q}$-linear tannakian category $\mathsf{MEM}_{1}$ of universal mixed elliptic motives over the moduli space ${\mathcal{M}}_{1,1}$ of elliptic curves. It contains $\mathsf{MTM}$, the category of mixed Tate motives unramified over the integers. Each object of $\mathsf{MEM}_{1}$ is an object of $\mathsf{MTM}$ endowed with an action of $\text{SL}_{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ that is compatible with its structure. Universal mixed elliptic motives can be thought of as motivic local systems over ${\mathcal{M}}_{1,1}$ whose fiber over the tangential base point $\unicode[STIX]{x2202}/\unicode[STIX]{x2202}q$ at the cusp is a mixed Tate motive. The basic structure of the tannakian fundamental group of $\mathsf{MEM}$ is determined and the lowest order terms of a set (conjecturally, a minimal generating set) of relations are deduced from computations of Brown. This set of relations includes the arithmetic relations, which describe the ‘infinitesimal Galois action’. We use the presentation to give a new and more conceptual proof of the Ihara–Takao congruences.

In motive research, only a handful of studies have appeared on the correlates and antecedents of fear motives. In this research, we contribute to both research and practice by investigating the relationships between fear motives, intrusive thoughts, self-control strategies, and positive affect. We propose that fear motives, similar to trait anxiety, are positively associated with intrusive thoughts and that intrusive thoughts, in return, are negatively related to the frequency with which individuals employ self-control strategies. Finally, we propose that the frequency of self-control strategies is positively associated with positive affect. To test these, two field studies with managers (Study 1: N = 100 and Study 2: N = 80) were conducted. Bayesian mediation analyses showed that in both Study 1 and Study 2, fear motives were positively associated with intrusive thoughts, and intrusive thoughts were negatively related to self-control strategies. Additionally, in line with predictions, intrusive thoughts mediated the fear motives-self-control strategies relation. Finally, in Study 2, we found self-regulation strategies to be significantly and positively associated with positive affect. The theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed.

The rise of social network sites (SNSs) provided users with new ways to initiate and maintain personal relationships. Numerous functions (e.g., messaging, sharing, and reacting on content) allow for social interaction customized to distinct relationship needs and behaviors. This study investigated the associations of attachment style with distinct SNS usage patterns. Furthermore, the relationships of SNS (1) motives, (2) activities, and (3) outcomes were examined. In line with previous research, attachment anxiety was strongly related to SNS use. It predicted all relational SNS motives and activities. In contrast, high avoidance predicted a higher motive to use SNS to maintain autonomy, less monitoring activity, and higher scores on social media addiction. SNS motives (i.e., intimacy) partially mediated the relationship of attachment style on SNS activities. Furthermore, certain SNS motives, activities, and combinations of both aspects fully mediated the associations between attachment dimensions and social media addiction. The findings indicate that neglecting the mediating role of SNS motives and activities might partly account for inconsistencies in previous findings.

This research was motivated by the high interest of students in choosing schools at MAN 1 Padang Panjang, especially students from outside the Padang Panjang area. This is evidenced by the number of students from outside the Padang Panjang area which is more than students from the Padang Panjang area itself. In the 2021/2022 academic year, out of a total of 663 students, 547 of them are students from outside the Padang Panjang area. This study aims to analyze the motives of students choosing to study at MAN 1 Padang Panjang. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. This Study was analyzed using the phenomenological theory of Alfred Schutz. The informant selection technique used purposive sampling with a total of 15 informants. Data collection techniques are observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there are several motives that underlie and cause students to choose to study at MAN 1 Padang Panjang which is divided into motives that cause and motives that encourage them to achieve goals. Because the motifs consist of family motifs, interesting and prominent extracurriculars and the existence of a pesantren/Islamic boarding school system. within the framework of the motive consisting of a desire to be independent, deepen religious knowledge and prepare to continue education to a higher level.

This study examines the motives (reasons) of social entrepreneurship in the field of education and enlightenment of the European Union. We used the methodology of collective case study to answer the research questions. Our final sample includes seven social enterprises which work at different levels (from European to local) and in different EU countries. We identified the following motives of social entrepreneurship in the field of education in the EU: 1) the desire to change society; 2) self-realization; 3) networking; 4) personal life situation; 5) access to funding and grant support. These motives in general (without details) are identical to the well-known motives of social entrepreneurship. A detailed analysis of the motives of social entrepreneurship in the field of education and enlightenment of the EU allowed us to identify its distinctive features (that are determined by the field of activity), namely: the motive to change society by means of education and art; the motive of self-realization by means of the acquisition or implementation of professional experience in the field of education and enlightenment; the motive of networking by means of the inclusion of educational institutions, students, pupils, teachers; the motive of networking by means of the involvement of children and youth as key participants and volunteers; personal life situation as a motive was often associated with obtaining education and new knowledge in difficult socioeconomic circumstances in the past. The studied social enterprises belong to the EU that has an influence on the studied motives: the desire to change society by means of education and introduction of the European Union’s fundamental values; the motive of state funding and grant support by means of access to the European funds. This study has its limitations being a collective case of seven non-profit organizations engaged in social and entrepreneurial activities in the field of education and enlightenment. These organizations operate at different levels (from European to local), but the case does not cover all the EU countries and at the same time does not show the specifics of particular countries that may become directions for future research. This study also has limitations imposed by the qualitative approach methodology. The obtained results can be used to conduct a quantitative study in the future with a survey of social entrepreneurs in the field of education and enlightenment in the EU.

Relevance. The number of scientists explored the motives of entrants to choose teacher’s profession noted, that now selection of pedagogical studies does not reflect future teachers’ pedagogical directivity, the motivation is small of future teachers’ to work pedagogical job. It is also noted, that enrolling graduates pay more attention to financial costs of studying or financial perspectives of interested specialty delegate. The research discloses future teachers’ motives for enrolling into pedagogical studies. The research focuses on the problem that motives for enrolling into pedagogical studies are still insufficiently investigated. The aim of the research is to reveal the motives for enrolling into the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences and their changes. The objectives of the research are as follows: 1. To identify the main motives for enrolling into pedagogical studies; 2. To compare the motives for enrolling into pedagogical studies of students who entered the university in different academic years (in 2002, 2010 and 2011 years). The empirical method was applied in the research which was carried out in three different faculties (those of Natural Sciences, Philology, and Mathematics and Informatics) of the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences in 2010–2011. The research sample included the answers of 270 first-year students. Questionnaire was prepared in order to analyze motives of first year entrants to Lithuanian Educational University and to compare it with results of 2000–2002 year study. 48 motives were presented in questionnaire and each of them had to be evaluated according significance. Motives were selected based on analysis of relevant literature and the structure of 2000–2002 study questionnaire. Main motives, mostly mentioned in scientific literature for choosing teachers profession, were distinguished in this study. The research findings reveal that, in 2010 and 2011, the main motives for the informants to choose pedagogical studies were their intention to acquire a diploma of higher education, a possibility to get a better-paid job, and career aspirations. Comparison of the data of the year 2002 and of 2010–2011 shows that in 2002 the choice of pedagogical studies (in the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences) was determined mainly by students’ extrinsic motivation – intention to acquire a diploma of higher education and to improve their financial situation as well as the social image. Similar motives were identified in 2010, when the main motives included a wish to acquire a diploma of higher education (though this motive was 20 percent weaker then), a possibility to get a better paid job, and career aspirations. Both in 2002 and in 2010 the same number of the informants mentioned their intrinsic motivation – aspiration to become a teacher as an important motive, and in 2011, however, the majority of the first-year students (72.9 %) did not consider becoming a teacher as important. The significance of such a motive as pedagogical love for children also decreased. This reveals a lack of professional purposefulness and that unmotivated students are admitted to pedagogical studies.

AbstractFor a perfect field k, we use the techniques of Bondal-Kapranov and Hanamura to construct a tensor triangulated category of mixed motives over the truncated polynomial ring k[t]/(tm+1). The extension groups in this category are given by Bloch's higher Chow groups and the additive higher Chow groups. The main new ingredient is the moving lemma for additive higher Chow groups by the authors and its refinements.

This research aims to uncover the meaning of modern Muslimah identity, which is constructed by micro-celebrities through their accounts on social media such as Instagram. In addition, it also explores the motives that underlie a person to become a celebrity on Instagram. Using a phenomenological approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with five informants, in addition to literature review and observation. The results revealed that the meaning of Muslimah identity is constructed by Instagram celebrities in three categories, namely: (1) The assertion of the definition of Muslimah is a Muslim woman who follows Islamic law, uses clothing as a cover for the aurat in accordance with Islamic law, the uploaded content displays positive content and does not expose the aurat, and in terms of endorsement, selecting the products received so as not to deviate from Islamic teachings becomes a necessity. (2) The motives of Muslimah celebgrams are divided into two, namely the motive of using Muslimah symbols and the motive of becoming a Muslimah celebgram on Instagram. In using Muslim symbols in the form of hijab, the motive is divided into two, namely the motive of cause and the motive of purpose. (3) Cause motives consists of fulfilling obligations as a Muslimah, encouragement from the family, and encouragement from the environment. The purpose motive consists of fulfilling religious obligations, protecting oneself, breaking the bad stigma against Muslim women, inspiring others, and improving oneself.

Employing a uses-and-gratifications approach, we examined the motives for following sports using the social media application Snapchat (version 9 [9.27.5.0 iOS/9.20.6.0] Andr). In Step 1 of the study, participant provided narratives ( n = 49) about their motivations for using Snapchat to follow sports. In Step 2, an online survey asked participants ( N = 263) to respond to 39 motive statements gleaned from narratives obtained in Step 1 as well as measures of points of attachment (POA), overall time spent viewing a variety of sports, and to rank the importance of various social media channels. Overall, four motives for using Snapchat to follow sports were conceptualized across 21 items (i.e., ease and convenience, behind the scenes, vicarious experience, unique points of view). Next, using regression analyses, we found that age, POA, social media preferences, and different sports viewed predicted motives for using Snapchat to follow sports to varying degrees. Theoretical implications and considerations for future research are also discussed.

ImportanceThe suicide mortality rate per 100 000 population (SMRP) consistently decreased before the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in Japan and then unexpectedly increased during the pandemic. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.ObjectiveTo identify trends in and factors associated with suicidal mortality and motives among students in Japan from 2007 to 2022.Design, Setting, and ParticipantsIn this cross-sectional study, data on SMRPs among Japanese middle-school, high-school, and university students were obtained from the government suicide database Suicide Statistics of the National Police Agency.Main Outcomes and MeasuresAge-dependent and temporal fluctuations in annual SMRPs, disaggregated by suicidal motive (7 categories and 52 subcategories), sex, and school, were analyzed using linear mixed-effect and joinpoint regression models, respectively.ResultsTotal suicide numbers from 2007 to 2022 were as follows: 760 male middle-school students, 635 female middle-school students, 2376 male high-school students, 1566 female high-school students, 5179 male university students, and 1880 female university students. The mean (SD) student populations from 2007 to 2022 were as follows: 1 752 737 (81 334) male middle-school students, 1 675 572 (78 824) female middle-school students, 1 648 274 (67 520) male high-school students, 1 614 828 (60 032) female high-school students, 1 652 689 (32 724) male university students, and 1 229 142 (57 484) female university students. Among male students, the leading motives were school-related factors (underachievement and worrying about the future), followed by family-related and health-related motives. Among female students, school-related and family-related motives decreased, but health-related motives showed an age-dependent increase. The SMRPs of middle-school male students and female students were almost equal (mean [SD], 2.7 [1.0] vs 2.4 [1.4]), but the age-dependent increase in SMRPs among male students was pronounced (mean [SD], high-school vs university male students, 9.1 [2.4] vs 19.6 [3.0]; high-school vs university female students, 6.1 [2.4] vs 9.6 [1.8]). However, the incidence of suicide among high-school students associated with health-related motives was greater in female students. The majority of suicides associated with major impactable suicidal motives (school-related, health-related, and family-related motives) began increasing before the pandemic. Changes in SMRP associated with interpersonal relationships, such as conflict with classmates or parents, were not significant, but the rates increased greatly during the pandemic. Conclusions and RelevanceSchool-related, health-related, and family-related problems were major motives, whereas the impacts of health-related and family-related motives increased and decreased with age, respectively. Notably, most SMRPs associated with major impactable motives (underachievement, conflict with a parent or classmate, and mental illnesses) had already begun increasing in the late 2010s, indicating that recent increasing SMRPs among school-aged individuals were associated with pandemic-related factors and other factors affecting this generation before the pandemic. It may be inappropriate to uniformly apply research findings based on school-aged individuals to school-based suicide prevention programs for students in middle school, high school, and university.

We investigated whether motivated reasoning rooted in partisanship affects the attributions individuals make about violent attackers’ underlying motives and group memberships. Study 1 demonstrated that on the day of the Brexit referendum pro-leavers (vs. pro-remainers) attributed an exculpatory (i.e., mental health) versus condemnatory (i.e., terrorism) motive to the killing of a pro-remain politician. Study 2 demonstrated that pro-immigration (vs. anti-immigration) perceivers in Germany ascribed a mental health (vs. terrorism) motive to a suicide attack by a Syrian refugee, predicting lower endorsement of punitiveness against his group (i.e., refugees) as a whole. Study 3 experimentally manipulated target motives, showing that Americans distanced a politically motivated (vs. mentally ill) violent individual from their in-group and assigned him harsher punishment—patterns most pronounced among high-group identifiers.

ObjectiveTo explore how and why self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) is carried out in a real-world context.Research design and methodsWe conducted a multicase study among ten people with type 1 and insulin-treated type 2 diabetes mellitus in Scotland, alongside seven nominated support people and four healthcare professionals. All participants were interviewed in depth and six participants provided SMBG diaries. Stones’ version of structuration theory informed the analysis.ResultsPeople with diabetes were able to provide immediate motives for SMBG at particular times, often having different motives on different occasions. We identified six such motives, including routine, in response to symptoms, associated with a diabetes review, to facilitate lifestyle, when a ‘good’ result was expected, and higher level motives for longer term glycemic control. These motives were influenced by underlying attitudes toward diabetes that included level of engagement and responsibility for diabetes, a desire not to be controlled by diabetes, resistance to diabetes, diabetes education and relationship with the health service, fear of hypoglycemia, and prevention of diabetes complications. Five responses to test results were identified, depending on the immediate motive and underlying attitudes.ConclusionsPeople with insulin-treated diabetes do not necessarily self-monitor with an explicit goal of improving long-term glycemic control, but may have other motives that are important to them. An individualized understanding is therefore needed to advise people with diabetes how SMBG can be optimized for them.

Globally, a large proportion of people do not participate in adequate physical activity to gain health benefits. Physical inactivity is a primary risk factor for global mortality. Research suggests that motives and passion influence participation in physical activity. The main purposes of the present study were to examine the relationship between motives and passion for participation in physical activity among adults, and to examine whether motives and passion predicted physical activity. Prior to data collection, we translated and validated the Physical Activity and Leisure Motivation Scale (PALMS) and the Passion Scale (PS) into Urdu. With the research sample, both translated questionnaires showed acceptable internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and factorial validity. To address the main purposes, we then employed a quantitative, cross-sectional research design, with a sample of 572 adults between 18 and 65 years (31.51 ± 10.25), who regularly participated in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Participants completed the PALMS, the PS, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Correlation coefficients showed strong relationships between motives and harmonious passion, and weaker, negative relationships between motives and obsessive passion. We used stepwise multiple regression to test whether motives and passion subscales were significant predictors of overall PA measured by the IPAQ. In step 1 of the regression model, mastery and physical condition motives were significant predictors of overall physical activity. Further, in step 2, the mastery motive and harmonious passion were significant predictors of overall physical activity, accounting for 26% of the variance, with F (5, 566) = 38.84, p < 0.01. The present study provides a basis for physical activity interventions examining whether increasing motives and passion leads to higher adherence to and lowered dropout from physical activity.

The rampant development of Ukrainian amateur football encourages scientists to conduct study concerning the motivation of sportsmen to train and participate in competitions. The football players in the endeavor to succeed, to satisfy the necessity to be a member of a team integrated by common aims, interests and motifs. The aim of our study was to reveal the peculiarities of the influence of motivation to play football of amateur sportsmen of FT of Kyiv on their competitive activity. The amateur football players of "Stina" FT, 1 League, Kyiv and "Darnytsia" FT, 2 League, Kyiv took voluntary participation in the study, aged 20 to 45 years of each club, respectively, a total of 40 sportsmen. We studied the issue of the influence of motivation on competitive activity in amateur football with the help of the following method: "Motives for playing sports" by A.V. Shaboltas and the test "Motivation for success" by T. Ehlers. In accordance with the study, the main motives of sports activities of football amateurs of both teams are the following: the motive to succeed in sports, the motive of physical self-affirmation, sports-cognitive motive, which testify to the goal orientation of amateur football players in the process of the game on the field. Among the dominant motives of "Stina" FT amateur sportsmen are the motive of success in sports; motive of physical self-affirmation, civic and patriotic motive, which allows the team to maintain quite high rating in the standings during 2019. An inexpressive motivational pole of the football players of "Stina" FT has a tendency to succeed 40%, compared with a tendency to fail 20%. Motivation among 70% of "Darnytsia" FT players is focused on avoiding failures, which is evidence of unformed positive game motivation, volition to avoid discomfort, related to the possible failures. Motivation to succeed prevails among the players of "Stina" FT, which is 80% of the team. We observe that the percentage of sportsmen whose motivation is focused on success is higher among "Stina" FT football players of "Darnytsia" FT. The amateur football players of 1 League have a well-formed and well-ordered motivation to succeed. Leading place in the hierarchy of motives takes the motivation for success, which is related to self-determination of team players.
