Abstract To introduce ocean literature as a starting point, the literary genre is divided into three forms of poetry, prose, and novels. Teaching materials cover a much wider range from ancient to modern. Attempt to collect teaching materials and teaching in all aspects, and make use of group learning collocated with different literary genres, forms, and media to activate teaching. It aims to enhance the literary attainments through the in-depth reading, and appreciation of the ocean literature. It is hoped that the students will be interested in ocean literature and cultivate the affection of understanding sea and loving sea from reading ocean literature. The first chapter discuss the research motive and purpose. And collating the research paper to clarify the ocean literature definition. Finally it explains the research method and structure of the thesis. The chapter from two to four is the main body of this thesis. According to the distinction of poetry, prose, and novels, it can be subdivided into classical, modern or Taiwan, western introduction and analysis, and do different teaching design. By using classroom group learning to analyze ocean literature, with common sense of Chinese culture, poetry, prose and related extension of teaching materials ,it raises added value of teaching materials. The last chapter is the research results of this paper, mainly to provide the future direction of development and recommendations can be extended, hoping for the ocean literature teaching a little cotton. Chang Man-chuan was famous for her best-selling novel Haishuizhenglan in 1985 and her books have always been the bestsellers in Taiwan since then. She continued her refined and lyrical style in the first collection of her prose Yuanchibumie and made a whole new field for prose. Afterwards, she stepped into various fields of writing—novels, prose, book collections, essays, audio books, and children’s books. She dedicates her life to promoting classic literatures and creates her own unique writing style. Majoring in traditional Department of Chinese, Chang has solid foundation for classic literatures; meanwhile, she also exerts herself to expend her living experience and enrich the materials for her prose. She integrates the novel writing style with her prose and makes the abundance and artistic value of her prose worth investigating. Since the Ministry of Education of Taiwan opened the textbook market, NanI has selected Chang’s Renjianqingfen in the junior high school textbooks and made her prose start obtaining people’s attention. Regardless of that people used to concentrate on her love themes, the controversy of being commercial, that her works are bestsellers but not literatures, or many critiques of “Chang Man-chuan Phenomenon,” Chang’s works are still valuable for pedagogic application. The themes of Chang’s prose start from her affection and relate to daily life; her works integrate classic and modern literatures and also combine different kinds of narrations and artistic writing styles. Therefore, the high achievement of her works is perfect for teaching materials. This dissertation selects four articles, This Used to Be My Playground, Hehuashengrih, Ciaokaiijhihdan, Zhuangzhucaishihwangdao, as teaching materials to be conducted on teaching composition and reading. It is shown that they can successfully help students build the bridge between classic and modern literatures and have better understanding of articles. Besides, they can provide students various inspirations, association, and the experience of beauty so that students can more precisely express themselves when they write, which represents the pedagogic value of Chang’s prose.

The state-of-the-art techniques in automatic document classification have become more popular on the Internet. Traditionally, Classification of office documents-- especially official government documents was done by humans. However, it may incur high cost and is error-prone.In this paper, we investigate effective document classification models for government documents, which make the job of document assignment more efficient. In the preprocessing steps, we extract the fields “Subject” and “Statement” and use CKIP as a lexical parser. Then we apply feature selection for a set of training and testing documents. Finally, we use both supervised and unsupervised models, which are SVM, Hierarchical Clustering and Self-Organizing Map respectively, to classify the testing documents. The results show that: (1) the use of a novel keyword selection model can effectively capture the semantics of the input documents. (2) Initially the unsupervised model is less effective in document classification, but after selecting suitable distance functions, key word mapping functions and linkage methods, the unsupervised model can achieve better results and its performance is close to the supervised model.

Abstract Chinese nation has great culture of more than 5,000 years. Its cultural cultivation is perceptual and has spiritual civilization. It has certain superiority relatively to the western science-based culture. However, Chinese Culture has confronted the merciless impact of western culture in the past one hundred years and has been in danger of elimination. As well as all sorts of Chinese culture also has faced the same destiny. People nowadays do not have many opportunities to have contact with Agarwood and barely know anything about the agalloch culture. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the incense essence & transformation, review the incense culture development and reconstruct the complete Chinese incense appreciation culture. Subsequently, this thesis would explain the incense functions to religions, and the incense perception & usage in religious ceremonies. Finally, it’ll let people have more understanding about the agalloch culture by collecting historic documents, present international viewpoints, plus the interviews and photos. First of all, at the beginning of the thesis, the incense culture will be introduced in order to illustrate the incense essence & its meaning, chronologically present the incense culture development, and demonstrate the incense usage methods & the incense transformation. Second, for the reason of understanding the incense culture, one must observe what important roll the incense plays in religious ceremonies. Therefore, it will discuss the incense position in rituals first, and then explain the symbolism & materiality, and finally account for its principle function. Third, through the document collection, arrangement, analyses, and comparison with the agarwood usage & management nowadays plus the interview presentation to compensate some insufficient parts, the incense culture could be thoroughly presented. The topic of this creation is “Incense”. It will illustrate the Aquilaria Culture & incense influences to religious incense application and the incense culture elements could be concluded with the interviews in person, documentary collection and induction which enables the “Aquilaria Culture ” to perpetuate.

This thesis proposes a game-based educational computer aid tool for children to assist their English learning by interacting with different input interfaces such as writing pad, mouse and microphone to achieve the goal of writing, recognizing and pronouncing letters. To improve children’s concentration we have designed and implemented a virtual software robot as a partner in this tool during children’s learning. With the aim to boost the effect of learning, it allows several children to connect this game at the same time to internet that provides an unrestricted space environment for users. We chose six children aged 5 to 7 who are English beginners as our observation. We divided our teaching materials into two groups. One is called experimental group and the other is called compared group. These children are given examinations and questionnaires before and after using both materials. The scores of these examinations and questionnaires are our observation datum and they have been analyzed to be our results in detail. The experimental results demonstrate this educational computer aid tool has increased the learning interest and effectiveness.

Nowadays, with the advent of communication technology and frequent contacts between countries, intercultural communication has become more and more important. More contacts lead to more conflicts. They caused by different languages, backgrounds, minds, values or life environments. This thesis proposed by Hofstede’s "onion theory" and "cultural dimensions theory" to discuss cultural differences in intercultural communication. In order to communicate without problems, the number of learning foreign languages is growing. It reflects the importance of intercultural competence. In this regard, it is also an important issue: how can people through the variety trainings to improve their intercultural competences. It is generally believe that language is the only one way to communicate with other people. However, according to Birdwhistell’s research, it shows that the use of verbal behaviors in communication is nearly 35%, but the application of nonverbal behaviors is over 65%. Even in Mehrabian’s research, it displays that communication depend on 93% nonverbal behaviors. In intercultural communication, misunderstandings and conflicts caused by nonverbal differences are more than language differences caused. This thesis introduces many different nonverbal communications and their expressions in different cultures so as to let people know the importance of nonverbal in intercultural communication. In addition to enhance students’ language ability, teacher can also pay attention to improve students’ intercultural and nonverbal competences. The most important is that teacher can put the introductions of nonverbal behaviors into foreign language class.

ABSTRACT The critical language learning age is from three to preschool, because the frequency of language contact and interests emerged from it in this period will have significant influence. According to the researcher’s teaching experiences, most preschool children have little interest in languages learning because of passive learning by traditional teaching program. Eventually, there is insignificant effect of language skill training by this kind of teaching program. Therefore, the critical trend of languages learning nowadays is to provide diversity of active and participative learning program. There are numerous researches of languages learning which corroborated with information-media in elementary and junior high school. However, there are rare researches that are based on preschool children. Hence, the subjects of this study aimed at preschool children. It conducted by Quasi-Experiment based on a case study at a preschool with a class of sixty students aged seven. The study focused on language curriculum; where it includes variety information-media tools such as projector (MW853UST) for video playing, the Interactive Whiteboard PointWriteTM, computers in the school to support digital software CDs and many other tools. The teaching program used for this study was "Topic teaching". Every week, a topic was chosen and quantitative measurement was collected before and after the teaching to compare the effectiveness. This experiment will leads to a quantitative result. Analysis tool was Statistics Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0 and Microsoft Excel 2013. The aim of this study are (1) to discuss the impact of students' communication abilities based on information-media teaching strategy embed with early childhood language teaching; (2) to understand the impact of students' spelling abilities based on information-media teaching strategy embed with early childhood language teaching. According to the analysis of the research data, the result showed that collaborating information-media teaching strategy with early childhood languages teaching have positive impacts on students' communication and spelling learning skills. The result revealed that employing information-media strategy into language teaching can lead to positive influence on preschool children’s languages learning and can also improve their learning outcomes. In the future, parents and teachers can work together to help children familiar with such learning environment and provide guidance of using information-media teaching materials correctly. 【Abstract】 The purpose of this study is to built the analysis system index of parts of speech ; exploring the distribution of parts of speech in Chinese, Nature Science and Social Study of children’s corpus; developing the fittest regression model of predicting text appropriate reading grades; exploring the relationships among parts of speech and questions of different reading comprehension levels; analyzing the performances of reading comprehension levels among students with different abilities. The major findings are as following: 1. The indexes of occurrence rates of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs were established successfully. 2. The development curves of four indexes are getting gentle with ascending text grades in children’s corpus; nouns have the highest rate of occurrence and are followed by verbs, adverbs and adjectives in each article. 3. The explained variance of text appropriate reading grades predicted by parts of speech’ index is 2.2%; the rate of occurrence of verbs is a better predictor over those of nouns, adjectives and adverbs. 4. The index of word class is moderately correlated to direct retrieval and direct reasoning which are of lower reading comprehension levels; the index of parts of speech has low correlation to integrative annotation and examining evaluation which are of higher reading comprehension levels. 5. Direct retrieval is the best predictor to reading comprehension for the low-achieving group of students; examining evaluation is the best predictor to reading comprehension for the high-achieving group of students.
