General rules

To reference a website or an individual webpage, The Chicago Manual of Style requires citing the following data when available: title of the webpage (article), title of the website, name of the owner or sponsor of the website, URL address, and date of publication or date when the content was last updated (or, if neither of these dates is known, the date when the content was accessed).

For providing uniform and easy-to-create references to users, the web service Grafiati uses the following templates to cite an online page:

Reference in a bibliography:

Author of the article (or owner of the website). "Webpage Title." Website Title, publication date, URL.

Full note:

Author, "Webpage Title," Website Title, publication date, URL.

Short note:

Author, "Webpage Title."
