Resumo: Esta dissertação busca analisar e compreender o processo de luta e de resistência dos trabalhadores da fábrica Zanon, localizada no interior da Argentina, contra a precarização de seu trabalho ocorrida nos anos noventa numa conjuntura de reestruturação da produção e do trabalho. O desenlace dos conflitos entre estes trabalhadores e seus patrões foi a ocupação da fábrica e a gestão operária direta da produção. Mas para compreender os seus resultados, localizamos este processo na conjuntura econômica e política pela qual passou a Argentina durante o período neoliberal, que produziu como conseqüência um vertiginoso aumento do desemprego e das mazelas sociais no país. No início do século vinte e um, produto direto desta crise social, centenas de fábricas, após decretarem falência, foram ocupadas e colocadas em produção sob controle de seus trabalhadores, dando origem a um dos fenômenos operários mais interessantes da América Latina destes últimos anos. Porém, a maioria desta experiência esteve marcada pelos limites herdados da crise objetiva e subjetiva da classe operária. Mas Zanon destacou-se neste processo pela radicalidade de suas ações e propostas políticas. Negando a forma cooperativa e lutando pela estatização da fábrica sem indenização sob gestão operária, os ceramistas construíram uma forma de controle operária. Para compreender esta particularidade, reconstruímos as lutas impulsionadas pelo grupo de ativistas políticos que surgiu dentro da fábrica Zanon e que foi responsável por resgatar a tradição classista do movimento operário argentino. Em plena época de ceticismo e pessimismo histórico hegemonizados nos discursos teóricos e políticos das ultimas décadas do século vinte, os ceramistas de Zanon provaram, através de sua pequena experiência, que a classe trabalhadora continua sendo um sujeito social e político importante em nossa sociedade
Abstract: This dissertation holds the objective to analyze and comprehend the process of struggle and resistance of Zanons' factory workers, located in the South of Argentina, which was held against labour precarious process occurred during the 1990's in a conjecture of production and labour restructuring. The outcome of the conflicts between these workers and their employers will be both the seizure of the factory and the workers' control of production. In order to understand its results, we have studied this process in the economic and political conjecture that took place in Argentina during the neoliberal period. Intensive growth of unemployment and social hardship took place as consequence. In the early years of the XXI century, as a result of this social crisis, hundreds of factories, after declaring bankruptcy, were taken and put under control o f its workers, starting one of the most interesting workers' phenomenon of Latin America. The centrepiece of this experience, however, was retained within the limits inherited of the subjective and objective crisis of the working class. Despite this element which limited the political action of hundreds of other factories taken under control by its workers, Zanon stood out in this process for the radical roots of its actions and political proposals

This dissertation is available for free download through the University of Arizona library and the author's web site.Since Argentina's economic collapse of 2001, workers who occupied abandoned and bankrupt businesses and put them back into operation as cooperatives have attracted increasing attention on the part of academic researchers and other disaffected workers. This dissertation reviews the political economic contexts in which these "recovered businesses" were established, reviews the dynamics of social movements involved, and considers the Argentine recovered business phenomenon from three analytical perspectives: 1) Marxist poltical economy; 2) Neo-institutional analysis (drawing on the work of Ostrom); and 3) Sociospatial subjectivity (with particular reference to Butler, Lefebvre, and Bourdieu). The author, through these analyses, proposes a theory of the "industrial commons" and considers the potential for expansion and contraction of recovered business movements as their protagonists struggle to resist reterritorialization by forces associated with the state and the capitalist marketplace. Observations made by the author are supplemented by numerous quotations drawn from interviews conducted with Argentine recovered business workers in 2008.Key conclusions include the recognition that social and spatial changes have accompanied the expropriation of private workplaces and their conversion to cooperatives, that these changes may create contexts for the reproduction of cooperative values, and that the new political economic subjects produced through these processes may help to secure the long term viability and growth of not only recovered businesses, but a newly emerging "self-managed workers" movement, as well.

L'analyse des seances de hamadani est inspiree par le peu d'etudes qui existent sur ce genre litteraire, qui, a notre avis, n'a pas encore recu toute l'atten tion qu'il merite. Ecrivain original, hamadani compte parmi les plus savants de son temps; ses preoccupations sont de reflechir a l'esthetique, de plaire au public, d'utiliser les techniques les plusdiverses en composant des exercices de style et de langue, en jonglant avec les tons et le verbe. Cet essai s'inscrit dans l'etude des composants de la virtuosite litteraire d'al-hamadani que nous qualifions de "jongleries verbales". Celles-ci se manifestent a des niveaux divers de la langue arabe, en particulier dans le langage mis en oeuvre, dans les registres du discours et dans les types textuels exploites par l'auteur. Malgre son extreme variete, les seances obeissent a une preoccupation qui suffirait a la distinguer et a la singulariser, celle d'interesser par la beaute de son style rythme et rime autant que par le choix des sujets. L'art du rytme et de la rime represente l'une des formes les plus attachantes des seances; concu pour un cadre large et varie, faisant appel a des moyens d'expression divers, il exige une grande concentration de la substance musicale et de son pouvoir expressif. L'analyse se propose donc de degager l'essentiel du parallelisme d'exposer a la fois ses origines, les principaux problemes esthetiques. .
The few critical studies devoted to the literary genre called "seance" are undoutedly the principal "raison d'etre" of this analytical study on hamadani"s "seances" which have not received yet the attention they deserve. Among the most inspired writers of his times, hamadani is interested in aesthe tics and the use of diverse tehniques related to style and language, in juggleries with tones and verbs, an art which hamadani masters with virtuosity. In spite of its extreme variety, the literary genre called "seance" has a preoccupation of its own embodied in the beauty of its style and the nature of its subjects matters. Parallelisme is one particular form of the "seances". The objective of the study is to look al its origines, its major techniques and features in our writer's works

This dissertation provides an understanding of Sediqeh Dowlatabadi's notion of modernity and her contribution to the Iranian women's movement by an examination of her life and writings. In particular, the dissertation pays attention to her role as a newspaper publisher of Zaban-e Zanan (Women's Tongue) and director of the Kanun-e Banuvan (Women's Society.) Dowlatabadi's understanding of her social condition was based on the space she found herself within at different phases of her life; the concept of modernity she held in her youth, which was partially inhibited by societal expectations, was not the view of modernity she ascribed to in the later stages of her career and has become known for as a pioneer of Iranian women's rights.In Chapter Two, Dowlatabadi's formative environment and benefits from a politically and culturally fluid space because of her family's heterodox religious ties and participation in events leading up to and during the Iranian Constitutional Revolution (1905-1911 CE) are examined. In this environment Sediqeh received a strong education but continued to adhere to many common cultural practices. Thereafter, in Chapter Three, Dowlatabadi's actions and writings during the first run of her publication are examined. "A Pitiful Story," which is a piece of Dowlatabadi's fiction from the period, is analyzed utilizing neo-historicist criticism. During this time period the public space allowed her to imagine a somewhat more liberal notion of modernity than many of her contemporaries. In Chapter Four, Dowlatabadi's support to go abroad and reasons for moving to an international space are considered. Her interactions with the international women's movement and the new space she found herself in are analyzed in Chapter Five; regardless, she remained true to her own Iranian-ness above all else. Finally, in Chapter Six, Dowlatabadi's return to Iran is deconstructed as is her behavior of working within the Pahlavi system to oppose it.Dowlatabadi made many unique contributions to the Iranian women's movement and the international women's movement. Dowlatabadi, in her role as an advocate of Iranian modernity, created a façade for herself as an "every woman" which other Iranian women could identify with and aspire to be.

Ce travail a pour ambition de montrer qu’une analyse linguistique du discours rapporté dans la presse écrite permet de démontrer comment et par quels moyens énonciatifs les journalistes de notre corpus représentent le discours autre dans les articles d’information. Nous essayons de rendre visible la prise de position des journalistes de notre corpus de travail à la lumière des théories d’hétérogénéité énonciative. Dans ce but, les idées de J. Authier-Revuz sur la représentation du discours autre (RDA) en tant que forme relevant de l’hétérogénéité montrée nous servent de cadre théorique.Les articles de presse constituant notre corpus de travail sont extraits des quotidiens Le Monde, Libération, Le Figaro, (2009-2013) et la revue iranienne Zanân « les femmes ». Le choix des quotidiens français et celui de la revue iranienne ont été motivés par le fait qu’ils constituent un corpus contrastif. Notons que notre corpus français est considéré comme les quotidiens de références par plusieurs études et projet de recherches. Notre choix de Zanân s’explique par l’un de nos objectifs initiaux de recherche qui est celui de mener une recherche sur la représentation du discours autre dans un corpus à la fois contrastif et francophone. Le fait que Zanân a été traduite en français nous conforte dans notre orientation
This work aims to show that a linguistic analysis of reported speech in the newspapers helps demonstrate how and by which means the journalist represents another speech in news items. We try to make visible the position taken by journalists of our studied object in the light of enunciative heterogeneity theories. In this purpose, the ideas of J. Authier-Revuz on the representation of other discourse (RDA) as a form within the shown heterogeneity serve as our theoretical framework.The articles constituting our body of work are extracted from Le Monde, Libération, Le Figaro (2009-2013), and the Iranian journal Zanân “The Women”. The selection of French newspapers and one magazine of Iran were motivated by the fact that they constitute a contrastive corpus. Note that our French corpus is considered the daily reference of several studies and research projects.Our choice of Zanân is explained by one of our initial goals of research is that of conducting research on the representation of another discourse in a corpus both contrastive and francophone. This thesis is divided into four sections. The first chapter deals with Mamlūk historiography and its major characteristics, alongside an examination of the life al' Aynī's, who was one of the most prominent historians of the period. Special attention is paid to his professions, masters, students as well as his numerous works. Chapter two, on the other hand, focuses on the copies of 'Iqd al-jumān fi tārīkh ahl al-zamān, mentioning the published volumes that covered most of the Ayyūbid and Mamlūk eras. The rest of this chapter deals with the methodology used in the edition of Volume eleven (431-520/1040-1126) as well as demonstrating its importance and sources. Chapter three presents an edition of the Arabic text of Volume eleven. Chapter four is a separate volume, which initially deals with the life and works of the historian Muḥammad b. 'Abd al-Malik al-Hamadhānī. The rest of chapter examines the historical fragments from his lost historical book, called 'Unwān al-siyar fī maḥāsin ahl al-Badū wa'-l Ḥaḍr, also known as Al-Ma'ārif al-muta'akhkhira: these fragments are to be found in Volume eleven of the 'Iqd al-jumān. At the end of this chapter, the Arabic text is reconstructed and its biographical materials, are reorganised in alphabetical order.

This dissertation focuses on the impact of Netherlandish art on the development of Farangi Sāzi in the Safavid period during 1588-1722. This impact was examined in two parts: first, examining a group of the Europeanized artworks that were executed by Persian royal painters, and second, the sojourn of eleven Netherlandish painters in Persia, specifically the service of three painters in the royal library. The study will then argue to what extent these two stories are correlated or independent.
Celem pracy jest omówienie wpływu sztuki holenderskiej na rozwój stylu Farangi Sāzi w okresie panowania Safawidów, w latach 1588-1722 r. Oddziaływanie przeanalizowano w dwóch częściach. Najpierw została zbadana grupa zeuropeizowanego malarstwa autorstwa nadwornych malarzy perskich. Następnie rozważono wpływ obecności jedenastu holenderskich malarzy w Persji, a w szczególności dokonań trzech z nich w bibliotece królewskiej. W pracy przeanalizowano do jakiego stopnia te dwa zdarzenia są ze sobą powiązane bądź niezależne.

The dissertation Magical Realism in Persian and Saudi Narrative Writing views as essential the assumption that the phenomenon of magical realism is not restricted solely to the cultures with colonial legacy, but is transferable to literary works created under systematic and systemic violence anywhere in the world. Previous research of the dissertation's author proved the existence of parallels in the dynamics of sociopolitical development of Iran and Saudi Arabia in the 20th century, foremost in the power relation of the states to their citizens and in the status of women in the society, while there was a strong tendency towards institutionalization of the traditional patriarchal, androcentric and misogynic societal paradigms since the second half of the 20th century. In the last thirty years, women have countered this situation through increased literary activity that has turned out to be an important means of self-fulfillment and emancipation. The fact that some of the most significant Iranian and Saudi women writers use magical realism directed the research to examination of this concept's relevance for the Persian and Saudi narrative writing, inquiry into the reflection of the gender issues and their comparison in both literatures.
