Streszczenie:
Without a common format, the financial community has been constantly penalized by the data exchange process. Currently, when financial data are dematerialized, they are exchanged in a multitude of formats: Excel files, free text, PDF, etc. Often not much more suitable for processing than photocopying and limited to certain platforms, these formats prove unsuitable for the exchange of information between programs, for analysis, comparison and presentation of reports to users. So far, despite a strong tendency to use XML syntax, attempts at convergence have struggled to generalize and apply to many sectors and contexts. In recent years, reporting requirements have led to a significant increase in the cost of using financial systems. The use of XBRL technology, using XML syntax, supported by many players in the world of finance, the software industry and adapted to reporting, can constitute the solution. Many governments, regulators, financial institutions are already using XBRL or have pilot projects in place. This document specifically targets XBRL. This technology, which is now recognized by the entire software industry, provides tremendous benefits for data exchange, storage, research and processing.

ABSTRACT The increased availability of video cameras, digital cameras, and imaging software has expanded the use of this equipment during oil spills and can improve the ability of observers to relay information in an accurate and timely manner. Digital images may be shared via electronic network, electronic mail or the World Wide Web so remotely located parties can view the same information recently observed by on-scene personnel. Adobe Systems, Inc. has developed Acrobat® software which is ideal for distributing electronic information1. Acrobat® software creates files which can be viewed using a freely distributed application which is easy to use and runs on many operating systems. This poster session demonstrates how digital images can better represent information obtained during spills and demonstrates methods for distributing the information.

Common specification of data promotes data exchange among many and unspecified individuals and organizations. However, standardization itself tends to discourage innovation that can create new uses of data. To overcome this dilemma of innovation and standardization, this paper analyzes and proposes hypotheses regarding the process through which the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has realized innovations such as web applications by updating the standard. I hypothesize the following changes in standardization process management at the W3C as key factors supporting innovation through standardization among stakeholders with conflicting interests: (1) defining the scope of the specifications to be developed according to functions instead of technical structures; (2) design of a development management policy based on feedback from implementations, referred to as an “implementation-oriented policy”; (3) inclusion of diversified stakeholders in open standardization processes that facilitate consensus formation and the diffusion of developed standards; and (4) adopting a royalty-free to encourage third-party developers to implement proposed specifications and advance update of proposals. This single case analysis leads to the development and diffusion of common technological data specifications, which are the driving factors for innovation utilizing big data generated by exchanging data of various origins.

Streszczenie:
Information exchange is a crucial component of many real-world multi-agent systems. However, the communication between the agents involves two major challenges: the limited bandwidth, and the shared communication medium between the agents, which restricts the number of agents that can simultaneously exchange information. While both of these issues need to be addressed in practice, the impact of the latter problem on the performance of the multi-agent systems has often been neglected. This becomes even more important when the agents' information or observations have different importance, in which case the agents require different priorities for accessing the medium and sharing their information. Representing the agents' priorities by fairness weights and normalizing each agent's share by the assigned fairness weight, the goal can be expressed as equalizing the agents' normalized shares of the communication medium. To achieve this goal, we adopt a queueing theoretic approach and propose a distributed fair scheduling algorithm for providing weighted fairness in single-hop networks. Our proposed algorithm guarantees an upper-bound on the normalized share disparity among any pair of agents. This can particularly improve the short-term fairness, which is important in real-time applications. Moreover, our scheduling algorithm adjusts itself dynamically to achieve a high throughput at the same time. The simulation results validate our claims and comparisons with the existing methods show our algorithm's superiority in providing short-term fairness, while achieving a high throughput.

The stock exchange represents the key institution for the development of capital market of any country. Thus the information system of every stock exchange must satisfy very strict international standards. The development of these systems is particularly difficult in countries in transition, due to intense economic and legal changes, lack of technical and financial resources, lack of experience and knowledge in the area of the capital market business, etc. Therefore the special software project management methodology for their realization must be clearly defined. In the development process of the Belgrade Stock Exchange (BSE) information system a new software project management methodology for its realization has been defined, the application of which is illustrated through a series of different development stages of the Belgrade Stock Exchange information system. In order to make all the problems more comprehensive, only the continuous trading method is described, being the most frequently used trading method in the world.

Streszczenie:
World-Systems Theory and Complexity Theory are siblings from the same parent of Von Bertalanffy’s foundational work on general systems theory. But they were ideologically separated at birth. World-Systems emerged out of dependency theory, itself a product of and reaction to neocolonialism after World War Two. Wallerstein’s historical analysis of the origins of unequal exchange in the “long” 16th C., first within Europe, and then encompassing its colonies, extended dependency theory’s exposure of exploitation by demonstrating the systemic consistency of geopolitical parasitism well before the modern era. Christopher Chase-Dunn has furthered that insight by using empirical research on the unequal exchange between the earliest known polities. His work has additionally shown how the methods of cross-polity parasitism have changed over time, both creating and undermining the empires of history in response to changing ecological and climatic constraints. His work also shows how systemic change often starts in the creative conditions unique to semiperipheries. The other child of general systems theory evolved in the worlds of physics and computer science, becoming known first as Chaos and later Complexity theory. It too expanded, demonstrating that positive causal feedback loops of energy and information could explain the life-processes of biology and evolutionary theory. Given their common ancestry and attention to the flows of energy and information, their re-connection was inevitable. This paper seeks to merge them. The approach will be to use complexity to explain how entropy builds structures on a physical level, then how those same dynamics created life, drove evolution, and continue to drive social complexity from our nomadic roots to our current global strife. The work of Chase-Dunn will be shown as logically consistent with complexity theory, and ideally a marriage of the traditions completed. As a former student and life-long colleague of Chase-Dunn’s, the author is also paying homage while pointing a way forward.

Almost all organizations in the world are under pressure to adopt new information systems in order to survive in competitive markets. Thus, improving our understanding of the inner working mechanism associated with adoption of new information systems has become increasingly important for researchers and practitioners alike. Although Davis’ technology acceptance model is the most widely applied theory, very little effort has been devoted to understanding the determinants of new system acceptance and usage beyond Davis’ model. In view of such, the main aim of this study is to investigate the driving force behind acceptance of and intent to use new information systems from the perspective of social exchange relationship. Results obtained confirm that perceived organizational support and leader-member exchange exert their influences via affective commitment to organization on attitude towards newly introduced information system. Practical implications, contributions and limitations of this study are discussed with suggestions for future research proposed.

Streszczenie:
Bluetooth is a low cost and low power wireless technology for connecting portable and / or fixed Bluetooth enabled devices to form short-range wireless ad hoc personal area networks (PANs). As the Bluetooth specification does not specify a protocol to form ad hoc Bluetooth networks, a method for forming an efficient Bluetooth network under a practical networking scenario is still an open research problem. This thesis introduces an approach to implement an indoor ad hoc Bluetooth wireless network, Bluetooth information exchange network (BIEN). This network formation is based on Bluetooth and Java technologies. A set of Bluetooth enabled devices configured with the BIEN software application are able to spontaneously establish a dynamic multi-hop wireless network using Bluetooth technology without the need of formal network infrastructure, centralized administration, fixed routers or access points. In this study, the performance evaluation focuses on the relation between network capacity and topology by testing end-to-end performance in terms of throughput and the latency of communication links with various parameters, including the hop number between nodes and the number of slaves in piconets. The evaluation results show that the throughput reduces with the increased length of a path, and with an increase in the number of slaves in a piconet in the network. The latency also increases with path length, and with the number of slaves in a piconet in the different experimental BIENs, whether if there is traffic or not in the networks. Experimental results have further confirmed the necessity to minimize the number of bridge nodes in the Bluetooth networks due to their traffic bottleneck effect. This work is an attempt at implementation of a distributed multi-hop scatter net with an integrated routing protocol in the practical environments, while most of the literature focuses on covering the modelling of it. It intends to demonstrate how Bluetooth technology with Java technology can be used to design, develop and deploy ad hoc wireless networks with the commercial Bluetooth devices, and examine how well Bluetooth technology supports ad hoc multi-hop wireless network technology.

Streszczenie:
In Saudi Arabia, medical errors are at an alarming level. Lack of a Health Information Exchange (HIE) system is one the greatest reasons for medical errors in the Kingdom. Health care in many countries has evolved with the invention of electronic health information exchange system, henceforth HIE. This research paper purposes to implement HIE in Saudi Arabia, which entirely does not have a system of the sort. It is imperative instill HIE in the health care system in Saudi to allow physicians, nurses, health care facilities as well as patients to electronically share medical information in a safe and secure manner. Many countries such as United States, New Zealand and Germany have had great success with the HIE system and have reported vast benefits. Benefits of HIE are such as reduction of health care cost as well as decreasing medical errors. For Saudi Arabia to reach the same heights, many stakeholders will be involved in the triumph of the HIE system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The biggest contributor will be the Ministry of Health, which will be in charge of implementing as well as making the system mandatory in the main four hospitals in the country: Shomasy, Kind Saud University Hospital, Ministry of interior Hospital and Ministry of Defense Hospital. Each hospital having their own current medical information recording system, will now have one universal system that is made sure to be secure and safe for patients as well as other participating organizations who have access to the HIE system. The main concentration of the HIE system in Saudi Arabia will be in the emergency care of these four hospitals. It is crucial to have an organized and controlled way of recording as well as accessing patient medical records electronically, in a fast and effective way. This paper proposes that an HIE system in Saudi Arabia will reduce the cost of medical care and decrease medical errors. Through the use of Lean thinking and the use of quality tools, the HIE system will be able to change and increase the reliably as well as effectiveness of Urgent Care in the country and therefore have consequent benefits as well. Also, understanding who is going to play a great role in the triumph of the HIE system, such as the Ministry of Health and knowing what stakeholders will need to be affiliated and contribute will lead the project to a better success.

Pokrzywa, Revonda Maria. "Systems Biology in an Imperfect World: Modeling Biological Systems with Incomplete Information". Diss., Virginia Tech, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/39938.

Pełny tekst źródła
Streszczenie:
One of the primary goals of systems biology is to understand the complex underlying network of biochemical interactions which allow an organism to respond to environmental stimuli. Models of these biological interactions serve as a tool to both codify current understanding of these interactions as well as a starting point for scientific discovery. Due to the massive amount of information which is required for this modeling process, systems biology studies must often attempt to construct models which reflect the whole of the system while having access to only partial information. In some cases, the missing information will not have a confounding effect on the accuracy of the model. In other cases, there is the danger that this missing information will make the model useless. The focus of this thesis is to study the effect which missing information has on systems level studies within several different contexts. Specifically, we study two contexts : when the missing information takes the role of incomplete molecular interaction network knowledge and when it takes the role of unknown kinetic rate laws. These studies yield interesting results. We show that when metabolism is isolated from gene expression, the effects are not limited to those reactions under strong control by gene expression. Thus, incomplete understanding of molecular interaction networks may have unexpected effects on the resulting analysis. We also reveal that under the conditions of the current study, mass action was shown to be the superior substitute when the true rate equations for a biological system are unknown. In addition to studying the effect of missing information in the aforementioned contexts, we propose a method for limiting the parameter search space of biochemical systems. Even in ideal scenarios where both the molecular interaction network and the relevant kinetic rate equations are known, obtaining appropriate estimates for the unknown system parameters can be challenging. By employing a method which limits the parameter search space, we are able to acquire estimates for parameter values which are much closer to the true values than those which could be obtained otherwise.

Streszczenie:
This chapter is from an invited presentation (15 pages long) given at the Aachen Colloquium on Click - A Split World, November 2004. It has appeared in the book [Gespaltene Welt? Technikzugange in der Wissensgesellschaft, edited by Max Kerner and Thomas Muller, and published by Bohlau Verlag, Koln, 2006] and is the author's final version. Introduction: I am asked to reflect on social and cultural consequences of technical development and try to answer a few questions: â ¢ In what different kind of ways access to knowledge is modified in an information technology-based society that is dominated by technical resources? â ¢ Does global exchange of information enable ubiquitous access to knowledge? â ¢ By which means do information technologies contribute to the solution or intensify global and local problems? â ¢ Which requirements arise from this problem for an IT-based society? I shall try to answer these questions from the point of view of a Third Worlder. Most other speakers at this colloquium are thinkers and experts known for their scholarship and academic achievements. I do not belong to the same league. I am not saying this out of humility; I am making a statement of fact. Then why am I here? Because I have felt the impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on the developing world and I have been working for many years to overcome the 1 deleterious consequences of ICTs in the context of the poor and the marginalized. I wish to share with you what I have learnt through working in the field. I am coming from India where we had a major election a few months ago. We are happy about the election for two reasons. One, contrary to what is happening in many parts of the developing world, democracy in India is vibrant and we have been holding free and fair elections consistently for more than 50 years. Two, despite outstanding achievements in the areas of high technology in general and information and communication technologies (ICTs) in particular, the ruling governments in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh belonging to two different parties have failed to return to power, largely because the rural poor voted against them. Thanks to rapid developments in indigenous capabilities combined with favorable policies by the governments in these two southern states of India, a number of IT industries and research laboratories â both Indian and multinational â sprung up, mainly in the capital cities Bangalore (referred to as the Silicon Valley of the East) and Hyderabad (half jocularly called Cyberabad). But these developments did not have a perceptible impact on the rural poor, who felt that they were neglected. What can information and communication technologies (ICTs) do to help the poor? Can they do anything at all? That is a question that dominates the development discourse. If poverty has been so persistent that we could not eliminate it with all our efforts till now, how can the use of ICTs make a difference? Poverty is much more than absence of money. Often generations in poverty lead people to a sense of utter hopelessness and deprive them of their sense of self-respect and dignity. They are deprived of access to essential assets and opportunities such as education, healthcare, employment, land and other natural resources, services, infrastructure and credit. They have little say in their polity and society. They are not empowered to participate in making the decisions that shape their lives. They become increasingly marginalized, excluded and vulnerable to exploitation. This exploitation manifests in several forms such as bonded labour, child labour, inadequate compensation for work if and when they get work, ill treatment and deprivation of basic rights. It will be naïve to believe that we can solve the problem of poverty by providing access to computers and telecommunication to the poor of the world.1 We have always lived in an unequal world, but now the gap between information â havesâ and â have-notsâ is widening fast. As Kofi Annan2 has noted, â there is a real danger that the worldâ s poor will be excluded from the emerging knowledge-based 2 global economy.â Virtually every new technology tends to exacerbate the inequalities that separate the rich from the poor. The last few years have seen many initiatives that deploy ICTs in rural communities in many developing countries. Many world leaders have spoken in glorious terms about the tremendous potential of these new technologies in transforming the lives of the poor. â Technology doesnâ t come after you deal with poverty, but is a tool you use to alleviate poverty,â says James D Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank. Says Mark Malloch Brown, Head of UNDP, â ICTs can help us reach the Millennium Development Goals including the goal of halving poverty by 2015.â It is mastery over technology that enabled the early adopters of industrial revolution technologies to colonize and exploit the rest of the world. If the developing countries fail to take advantage of the new ICTs, the consequences could be far more serious. If we want technology to work for the poor we must make special efforts. In this talk I will describe from my own personal experience two widely different programmes where we are attempting to bridge the gulf that divides the rich from the poor through innovative use of information and communication technologies. In the first part of my talk we will look at how we at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) are trying to harness ICTs as part of a holistic strategy for alleviating poverty in rural India. I will show why the emphasis should be on people and the public commons approach rather than on technology. In the second part, we will look at how the advent of new technologies has opened up the possibility for making knowledge distribution in science and scholarship a level-playing field. Here again the public commons approach is the key to success.

Health information exchange (HIE) - the electronic exchange of health information among healthcare institutions - has been projected to hold enormous promise as an antidote to the fragmented healthcare delivery system in the United States. After decades of mostly failed attempts, we still do not know how to make HIE work. This thesis is the beginning of a systematic understanding of HIE, focusing on the clinical users and the context in which the users and the technology interact. It uses a systems approach to understand HIE from the perspectives of the core stakeholders including healthcare providers, patients, health IT vendor companies, public policy, and the HIE organizations that supply data exchange services. The core contributions of the thesis are contained in four studies. Values of healthcare providers as stakeholders in HIE In a stud y of three communities, healthcare provider organizations were found to expect regional HIE organizations to bring them benefits from the ability to measure care quality. However, one relatively larger community placed greater value on the strategic interests of its individual provider institutions, whereas two smaller communities valued the interests of the communities as a whole. Factors that affect clinicians' usage of HIE. In a study of clinician-users of an operational HIE, usage factors were categorized as motivators and moderators. Motivators for individual clinicians' usage of HIE included improving care quality and time savings. Moderators were numerous and included gaps in data, workflow complexity and usability issues. Several policy options and implications are discussed including: requiring HIE organizations to report metrics of HIE contributions and accesses; certifying HIE vendor companies to provide standardized usage metrics; and creating incentives for clinicians as well as HIE organizations and regional health IT extension centers to meet HIE usage targets. Analysis of opportunities to use HIE. In one community, 51% of visits involved "care transitions" among individual providers, and 36-41% involved care transitions between medical groups. The percentage of a provider's visits which involved care transitions varied considerably by clinical specialty and even within specialties. Within primary care, individual clinicians' "transition percentages" varied from 32% to 95%. This study discusses how policies designed to foster HIE usage should take this variation into account. Analysis of mergers and provider recruitment on HIE value. In a simulation study of patient visit patterns in 10 communities, the results suggest that even after substantial consolidation of medical groups, an HIE would still have considerable value as measured by the number of opportunities for data exchange. However, in each community a small number of medical groups were key: if absent from a community HIE, these groups would reduce the value by 50%. Conversely, if they were the only groups participating, the HIE's value would only achieve 10-20% of its value with all groups participating. The results of these studies suggest that HIE will be needed even in the event of the expected large-scale consolidation of healthcare providers. However, efforts will be needed to recruit medical groups to join HIE organizations, to improve HIE technology, and to train clinicians to integrate HIE into their workflows.

We present opportunities for diversification of production, diversification at the household level, and diversification through the global, regional and local trading systems for resilient food systems. There are a number of trade-offs which must be navigated as we strive to achieve greater food system resilience. These include the need to deliver short-term humanitarian aid without jeopardizing long run development, mitigation of rising global temperatures even as the food system adapts to the inevitable changes in the earth’s climate, taking advantage of the benefits of globalization while avoiding the downsides, and encouraging agricultural production and boosting rural incomes while also protecting the environment. Much will be gained for resilience building by highlighting successful solutions and facilitating the exchange of tools, data, information and knowledge and capacity.

AbstractIn this chapter, we explore and analyze the foundations of our societal relationships, in relation to the concept of industrial transitions. When trying to understand how humans, collectively and prospectively, adapt or react to socioeconomic disruptive changes like the one Industry 5.0 is enacting, two concepts emerge. The first concept is the scope at which humans can handle complex issues. The second is the speed at which they are able to reframe their mental models, based on exposure to high-speed information exchange, that may drive thinking towards unexpected and completely different outcomes. We argue that ecosystems and their innovation capabilities are the only available mechanism we collectively have to build creativity and address the prioritizing of societal values. Innovation ecosystems can supply the testbed pathways on which better societal functions may emerge. In summary, this chapter discusses ways in which socioeconomic transitions could be dynamically applied to relevant functional systems, with a time horizon that allows enough time for evaluation of the effects (positive or negative), so that elements could be changed and/or introduced into or for the system. The circular society described in this chapter would have both intended and unintended consequences, as does any social complex adaptive system. As such, changes to any social contract defining particular interactions and relevant issues, would in turn, contribute to the fabric of preconditions and definitions of the transition between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0.

AbstractEssentially, digital rights management refers to “trusted exchange of digital information over the Internet in which the user is granted only those privileges granted by the document sender”. Digital rights management systems serve multiple functions, such as access control, usage control, billing, and the pursuit of legal infringements. These functions are achieved through various technologies, such as encryption, digital signatures, digital watermarks, secure authentication, rights expression languages, and product key. In recent years, digital rights management systems have been controversial due to privacy concerns, their potential negative impact on open-source software, and their incompatibility with fair use principles. And, in an increasingly interconnected world, digital rights management systems will become increasingly important, but they will lose their influence in specific industries, such as the traditional music industry.

AbstractMoney laundering (ML) poses a clear and present threat to citizens, democratic institutions and the financial system. The rules to prevent dirty money from being laundered through the financial system have grown into a huge regulatory framework. A selection of analytical and partly overlapping perspectives with specific challenges for the emerging regulatory framework is continuously identified and presented: Firstly, the increase in private–public cooperation where private actors have been involved in shaping the regulatory framework and been assigned “policing” tasks. Secondly, the exchange of information and the specific challenges posed by digitalisation. Thirdly, the interaction between administrative law and criminal law and different types of sanctions. Fourthly, the increased focus on EU security policy and the long-standing so-called securitisation of ML and terrorist financing (TF), which has led, among other things, to an increased competence for the EU institutions to regulate this area. What shortcomings and legal challenges remain, and are they addressed by the existing and recently updated instruments as well as recent legislative proposals, or is there room for further reform? These analytical and partly overlapping perspectives are addressed in this chapter followed by current reform proposals, and finally, the new EU legislative package and remaining challenges.

AbstractThe cellular network standard 5G meets the networking requirements for different industrial use cases due to the advantages of low latency, high bandwidth, and high device density while providing a very good quality of service. These capabilities enable the realization of wireless digital twins (DTs), a key element of future cyber-physical production systems. DTs for prediction, monitoring, and control of machine tools need physical modeling as well as the bidirectional exchange of information between the digital and the physical world. 5G is a wireless communication technology with the potential to disruptively change industrial communication. 5G enables wireless, highly scalable, and flexible realization of even safety- and latency-critical connections. In this paper, a 5G enabled DT of a machine tool for process control, monitoring and simulation is developed and implemented. A bidirectional communication between the physical machine tool and the DT is realized via 5G. Moreover, process prediction is enabled based on physics simulation. Next to the physical modeling of the machine behavior, a 5G-capable interface between the input and output signals of the machine control system and the developed DT is implemented. Moreover, the DT is migrated in a wireless form to an edge server. Furthermore, the capabilities of the DT are demonstrated. Therefore, the architecture and implementation of the DT as well as its benefits and challenges are outlined.

Abstract The Application Protocol Information Base (APIB) is an on-line repository of documents for the Standard for the Exchange of Product model data (STEP, officially ISO 10303 — Product Data Representation and Exchange). Document types in the APIB include STEP Application Protocols and Integrated Resources. Application Protocols are standards that are intended to be implemented in software systems, and Integrated Resources are used by them as building blocks. Application Protocols and Integrated Resources are represented in the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) in the APIB in order to facilitate efficient information search and retrieval. This paper describes a World Wide Web gateway to the APIB, implemented using the Common Gateway Interface (CGI) standard. The APIB gateway allows STEP developers to efficiently search for ISO 10303 standards and supporting information. The only client software required to use the APIB gateway is a third party web browser.

Streszczenie:
Abstract In collaborative product development (CPD), iterative design with heterogeneous CAD systems is always completed by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other suppliers around the world. Therefore, product data exchanges among different heterogeneous CAD systems are crucial in CPD. However, the major bottleneck is that parametric part models of complex products cannot be exchanged among heterogeneous CAD systems. Published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) is the most common solution for geometry-based data exchanges and product annotations in the manufacturing industry. However, the exchanged STEP parts cannot be modified due to the loss of important information including modeling history, parameters and constraints, which involve the design intent. Therefore, the challenge of modification on exchanged parts needs to be overcome for iterative design in heterogeneous CAD systems of the manufacturing industry. In this paper, a method of part parametric model data exchange and reconstruction based on feature script is proposed. The main idea is features, which include reference features (like datum-plane, datum-axis, and datum-point), shape features (like extrude and rotation), auxiliary features (like fillet and chamfer), and sketch features. These features are taken as the fundamental elements of a part in CAD system, and each is defined by feature script and saved as an extensible markup language (XML) node. The feature modeling history of a part is regarded as a tree structure, which can be converted to an XML tree structure. In part model reconstruction, the proposed method utilizes a persistent naming mechanism and geometric data to identify topological entities, and then realize the persistence of constraint information and parameter driving of part model. The proposed method will be applied to part data exchange and parametric model reconstruction among heterogeneous CAD systems in the following process: (i) the feature tree and parameters of the parametric model are obtained in the source CAD system; (ii) the feature model data is translated into feature script and saved as XML format file; (iii) the feature script file is read, and the parametric model is reconstructed in the target CAD system according to modeling history. In order to verify the accuracy of data exchange and model reconstruction between Creo and CATIA, a method on constraints equivalence analysis and feature comparison is also proposed for analyzing the similarities and differences between source and target parametric models. In addition, a case study is presented to demonstrate the potentials of the proposed method for parametric-feature model exchanges among heterogeneous CAD systems in web-based collaborative product development.

The Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) are being driven to provide this luxurious experience through the development and adaptation of new technology. In a luxurious car, an infotainment system consists of a high-resolution touchscreen display, smartphone pairing, support for multimedia, installed applications for entertainment, etc. The applications responsible for this experience will exchange the data from the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to the server and vice versa. If all applications require a unique port for the exchange, then the number of ports will be more which means the number of entry points to exploit the system by an intruder will be increased. For the secure exchange of information, the ECU software consists of a firewall that monitors this exchange and allows only the safe transfer of data to avoid the compromise of the system. A firewall blocks unwanted traffic and data from unauthorized resources. Linux system establishes the firewall through the iptables which has rules to filter ipv4 and ipv6 packets. But these rules are in the root file system which can be accessed directly. If there is no monitoring system for these tables, an intruder can change the rules which leads to an entire system compromise. The proposal is to place the rules in secure storage which is difficult to access by an intruder. This concept makes use of ARM TrustZone technology and requires an implementation of a trusted application running in a secure world through which secure storage can be accessed. In this paper, a comparison of the time taken to enforce the rules between the default process and the proposed process is shown.</div></div>

Abstract Usually, the available software packages qualified to run within the manufacturing world were developed without a global view of the manufacturing system. When a factory wants to move towards Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) the integration of these commercial tools should be considered. Therefore, a possible approach to enhance production can be to consider the integration of already existent system’s tools using a standard data exchange format. UNINOVA - Institute for the Development of New Technologies, in the scope of a European project, has been developing a STEP (ISO10303) based toolkit (SIP) to aid the integration of these applications and the management of the achieved integrated system. Up to the moment some managerial and engineering software applications have been integrated using SIP inside industrial companies. The software packages used, the steps followed to integrate them, and the results obtained using SIP in these manufacturing environments will be described and commented within the paper. Also, the internal architecture of SIP and the global information system architecture based on standard models are presented, highlighting the implementation aspects occurred during the developments for the industry.

Streszczenie:
As artistic research work in various disciplines and national contexts continues to develop, the diversity of approaches to the field becomes ever more apparent. This is to be welcomed, because it keeps alive ideas of plurality and complexity at a particular time in history when the gross oversimplifications and obfuscations of political discourses are compromising the nature of language itself, leading to what several commentators have already called ‘a post-truth’ world. In this brutal environment where ‘information’ is uncoupled from reality and validated only by how loudly and often it is voiced, the artist researcher has a responsibility that goes beyond the confines of our discipline to articulate the truth-content of his or her artistic practice. To do this, they must embrace daring and risk-taking, finding ways of communicating that flow against the current norms. In artistic research, the empathic communication of information and experience – and not merely the ‘verbally empathic’ – is a sign of research transferability, a marker for research content. But this, in some circles, is still a heretical point of view. Research, in its more traditional manifestations mistrusts empathy and individually-incarnated human experience; the researcher, although a sentient being in the world, is expected to behave dispassionately in their professional discourse, and with a distrust for insights that come primarily from instinct. For the construction of empathic systems in which to study and research, our structures still need to change. So, we need to work toward a new world (one that is still not our idea), a world that is symptomatic of what we might like artistic research to be. Risk is one of the elements that helps us to make the conceptual twist that turns subjective, reflexive experience into transpersonal, empathic communication and/or scientifically-viable modes of exchange. It gives us something to work with in engaging with debates because it means that something is at stake. To propose a space where such risks may be taken, I shall revisit Gillian Rose’s metaphor of ‘the fold’ that I analysed in the first Symposium presented by the Arne Nordheim Centre for Artistic Research (NordART) at the Norwegian Academy of Music in November 2015. I shall deepen the exploration of the process of ‘unfolding’, elaborating on my belief in its appropriateness for artistic research work; I shall further suggest that Rose’s metaphor provides a way to bridge some of the gaps of understanding that have already developed between those undertaking artistic research and those working in the more established music disciplines.

The main findings indicate that there are legal constraints in relation to the definition of PEPs and the obligation to declare beneficial owners. There are also operational constraints in terms of the measures implemented to identify PEPs and to ensure the integrity of information systems. Likewise, this document presents recommendations to address the barriers identified and analyzes best practices to help strengthen the detection and prevention mechanisms used by Central American governments and financial institutions for cases in which PEPs use the financial system to launder money obtained through corruption and related crimes.

Streszczenie:
Not since the end of World War II have supply chains been as highly exposed to risks as they are now. The Fourth Industrial Revolution poses unprecedented challenges for production and distribution systems. It also creates important opportunities, particularly in risk management. Indeed, new digital technologies will foster the emergence of the connected supply chain as a critical element for risk management. Supply chain connectivity is defined as the seamless flow of materials, information, and financial resources along the supply chain, enabled by two factors: information systems connectivity and physical connectivity. This paper analyzes both factors and how new technologies can improve them. It also discusses the barriers that prevent the achievement of a connected supply chain and, with it, improved risk management. Finally, it discusses the role that the public sector can play in overcoming these barriers.
