This paper proposes a hardware platform for WCDMA baseband data transmission, which consists of USB3.0 interface, general purposes processor (GPP), and software defined radio (SDR) system. In view of the requirements of WCDMA system, the hardware platform consisting of USB3.0 controller, FPGA and DDRII was selected, which finally realized the high throughput rate and low delay transmission of baseband data of WCDMA system. The experimental results show that in this GPP software defined radio system, the interface speed of USB3.0 can reach 200MBps, and the loopback delay time of the system is about 0.7ms, which can meet the requirements of WCDMA system.

The bus video monitoring system is composed by WCDMA transmission system, video server system, system monitoring center and outreach system. By WCDMA wireless transmission module achieving real time video data return, while using VPDN network technology. Using of the DVS video server and by WCDMA transmission system, the monitoring videos information will be transmitted to the monitoring center rapidly and in real time. The monitoring center can remotely monitor, manage, and dispatch the bus. The results demonstrating this system has good real time transmission ability.

Noise in 4G communication systems is a pressing current problem. There are various ways to reduce phase noise. The sigma-delta passive adder entrenched (PAE) approach was chosen for the WCDMA system because it provides a spurious level, phase noise, and low stabilization time. Therefore, for WCDMA applications, this study proposes a frequency synthesizer. It is then suggested that the addition of a passive adder before the modulator's quantizer to eradicate any distortions created as a result of the quantization stage. The design factors for the suggested second order synthesizer for 4G are chosen based on the analytical results for all unit of the suggested system and in accordance with WCDMA specifications. The suggested PAE frequency synthesizer for the application of WCDMA reduces noise exact effectively, according to simulation findings. With this synthesizer, the in-band phase noise is -75 dBc/Hz. For frequency synthesizer simulation, MATLAB (R2020) is utilized.

Reception using an antenna will amplify the signal acquisition in accordance with the ability of the antenna itself. Signal instability that often occurs in WCDMA networks makes the need for strengthening the acquisition of the signal is very large. Antenna Wajanbolic is one option reinforcement signal acquisition. In WCDMA networks, downlink frequency used at 2100 MHz, while the uplink frequency to 1900MHz. Antenna wajanbolic Must ditune to resonate in the uplink frequency is 1900 MHz. The final project focuses on making wajanbolic antenna for Line of Sight (LoS) who works at a frequency of 1900 MHz for WCDMA (3G). In accordance with the name wajanbolic antenna, this antenna uses a reflector from the pan, with a waveguide of modified pipes are coated with aluminum duct tape, and a signal receiver using a USB 3G modem. From the results of the testing and analysis of the results showed that wajanbolic antenna is directional antenna that has the directivity signal. This wajanbolic got an antenna gain of 16 dB value. The results show that using distributed storage platform and WCDMA network to develop temperature sensor module and using web to develop temperature acquisition system that solve the problem of low efficiency, slowly computation speed cause by mass data storage and large data analysis in the temperature sensor network.These all meet the current new requirements of data expansion.

The article presents the application of a new analytical model of the full-availability group carrying a mixture of different multi-rate traffic classes with compression property for modeling the WCDMA radio interface with packet scheduling. The proposed model can be directly used for modeling of theWCDMA interface in the UMTS network servicing different traffic classes. The described model can be applied for a validation of the efficiency of the WCDMA interface measured by the blocking probability and the average carried traffic for particular traffic classes.

High speed packet access (HSPA) was introduced as the evolution of WCDMA system in 3GPP Rel 5 and 6 for downlink and for uplink. Moreover, HSPA+ Rel 7 makes WCDMA more competitive which adopted multi-input multi-output (MIMO) to support two blocks of data in a TTI and 64QAM for modulation to increase the peak rate. In HSPA+ Rel 8, combination of MIMO and 64QAM can further enhance the data rate in the good channel condition. Theoretically, the terminal can support the maximum downlink data rate of about 42Mbps.

The isolation enhancement between the donor antenna and the service antenna for indoor repeater systems is presented by using a frequency-selective surface (FSS). A unit cell of the proposed FSS consists of a quarter-wavelength resonator, a chip resistor, an FR4 substrate, and a ground plane. Applying the unit cells of the proposed FSS embedded a chip resistor on the side walls of each reflector for indoor WCDMA repeater antennas and aligning them along with the cross-polarization of each antenna, the isolation is improved by about 13 dB at the WCDMA band.

This paper reports on digital transmitter architecture for the 450 MHz band using an envelope delta-sigma modulator realized in CMOS and a voltage-mode class-S (VMCS) power amplifier (PA) based on GaN monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs). The class-S PA is characterized for narrowband single-tone signals and a single- as well as a four-carrier downlink wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) signal with a peak-to-average power ratio of 7.5 dB. Using single-tone excitation the PA shows a maximum drain efficiency of 86% and a peak output power of 4.4 W. At 6 and 10 dB back-off, 59 and 36% efficiency are achieved, respectively. With the single- and four-carrier WCDMA input signals maximum drain efficiencies of 64 and 53% are reached, respectively, and peak output power is 0.7 W. The adjacent channel leakage ratio shows values of about −34 dBc (5 MHz) and −38 dBc (10 MHz) for single-carrier WCDMA excitation. This is the first complete VMCS PA chain characterized with standard communication signals.

The basic characteristics for the WCDMA system, several typical scheduling algorithms are analyzed, and focused on the proportional fair algorithm, in order to maintain good performance of proportional fair algorithm in terms of throughput and fairness,and make it better adapt to the multi-service environment, this paper proposed a QoS-based proportional fair algorithm, using OPNET network simulation software to build a WCDMA network, respectively in different business environments to verify and compare the algorithm performance.The results show that under the multi-service environment, the performance of QoS-based proportional fair algorithm is better than the basic proportional fair algorithm in terms of throughput and average latency.

The Fourth Generation (4G) network is expected to serve mobile subscribers under dynamic network conditions and offer any type service: anytime, anywhere, and anyhow. Two such technologies that can respond to the above said services are Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). The main contribution of this paper is to propose a dedicated hardware module which can reconfigure itself either to the OFDM Wireless LAN or WCDMA standard. In this paper, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm is implemented for OFDM standard, and rake receiver is implemented for WCDMA standard. Initially efficient implementations of these two algorithms are tested separately and identified the resources utilized by them. Then the new hardware architecture, which configures to any one of these two standards on demand, is proposed. This architecture efficiently shares the resources needed for these two standards. The proposed architecture is simulated using ModelSimSE v6.5 and mapped onto a virtex 5 FPGA device (xc5v1x30ff324) using the tool Xilinx ISE 9.2i, and the results are compared with the standard approach. These results show that the proposed hardware architecture utilizes less number of resources compared to the conventional Reconfigurable Receiver Architecture System.

A compact (8 × 62 × 5 mm3; 2.48 cc) frequency reconfigurable antenna that uses electrical switching with PIN diodes is proposed for the low frequency LTE band (699 MHz–862 MHz), high frequency LTE band (2496 MHz–2690 MHz), GSM850/900 bands (824 MHz–960 MHz), and DCS/PCS/WCDMA bands (1710 MHz–2170 MHz). The penta-band PIFA is first designed for GSM850/900/DCS/PCS/WCDMA bands by using two slits and ground pins within a limited antenna volume (8 × 54.6 × 5 mm3; 2.18 cc). The frequency reconfigurable antenna based on this penta-band PIFA is thus proposed to additionally cover all LTE bands. The proposed antenna has two PIN diodes with an optimal location. For State 1 (PIN diode 1: ON state, PIN diode 2: OFF state), the proposed antenna covers the low frequency LTE band, DCS/PCS/WCDMA bands, and high frequency LTE band. For State 2 (PIN diode 1: OFF state, PIN diode 2: ON state), the antenna covers the GSM850/900 bands. Simulated and measured results show that the total efficiency of the proposed antenna was greater than 40% for all operating frequency bands.

The study delves into government-mandated E911 call reliability requirements and conducts a detailed analysis of two real-world issues affecting tight connectivity for E911 calls. Additionally, the research proposes network optimization solutions to address these challenges and enhance the overall reliability of emergency services. Findings: The findings of this research reveal insights into government-mandated E911 call reliability requirements and identify two practical issues affecting the continuity of emergency services during the transition from LTE to 5G (NR) and WCDMA. Unique contributor to theory, policy and practice: The study presents network optimization solutions aimed at overcoming these challenges, with the ultimate goal of improving the dependability of E911 calls and enhancing public safety.

Abstract This paper discusses a new analytical model of the WCDMA radio interface. The proposed model is based on Erlang’s Ideal Grading with multi-rate traffic and different availability characteristics. Thanks to the application this model, it is possible in the proposed model to take into consideration not only the influence of interference from different cells, but also different traffic management mechanisms. The operation of the new model is presented with the example of the WCDMA interface in which selected classes of calls have introduced traffic constraint. The proposed model is characterized by its simplicity, while the results obtained with its application are characterized by accuracy that is acceptable for the model to be used in engineering calculations.

This paper presents the isolation improvement techniques of a microstrip patch array antenna for the indoor wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) repeater applications. One approach is to construct the single-feed switchable feed network structure with an MS/NRI coupled-line coupler in order to reduce the mutual coupling level between antennas. Another approach is to insert the soft surface unit cells near the edges of the microstrip patch elements in order to reduce backward radiation waves. In order to further improve the isolation level, the server antenna and donor antenna are installedinorthogonal direction. The fabricated antenna exhibits a gain over 7 dBi and higher isolation level between server and donor antennas below −70 dB at WCDMA band.

HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) is the upgrade performance data packets extraordinary against WCDMA thus producing top speed 14,4 Mbps. One of the goals the creation of HSDPA is as an improvement over previous technologies. The expected improvement of HSDPA technology increasing the data rate is capable of exceeding data rate in order to WCDMA customer satisfaction in accessing multimedia content such as streaming video and data at high speed. Data Rate is the maximum data rate that can be accepted by the UE (User Equipment) in ideal conditions. One of the factors that affect the data rate is modulation scheme used by each of the technologies. QPSK modulation is used in WCDMA system and adaptive modulation (QPSK and 16QAM) is used in HSDPA system.In the research the results obtained by selection of symbol rate of 480 kbps bit rate will yield 960 kbps while the selection symbol rate is 960 kbps will produce 1920 kbps bit rate using modulation QPSK modulation. As for 16QAM modulation, symbol rate of 480 kbps produces 1920 kbps and symbol rate is 960 kbps bit rate produces 3840 kbps. Of the trial results, the more number of bits sent then the higher data rate that can be accepted by the UE (user equipment).

Third generation communication systems require receivers with wide bandwidth of operation to support high transmission rates and are also reconfigurable to support various communication standards with different frequency bands. An ideal software defined radio (SDR) will be the absolute answer to this requirement but it is not achievable with the current level of technology. This paper proposes the use of a six-port receiver (SPR) front-end (FE) in a WCDMA communication system. A WCDMA end-to-end physical layer MATLAB demo which includes a multipath channel distortion block is used to determine the viability of the six-port based receiver. The WCDMA signal after passing through a multipath channel is received using a constructed SPR FE. The baseband signal is then calibrated and corrected in MATLAB. The six-port receiver performance is measured in terms of bit error rate (BER). The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the transmittedIQdata is varied and the BER profile of the communication system is plotted. The effect of the multipath fading on the receiver performance and the accuracy of the calibration algorithm are obtained by comparing two different measured BER curves for different calibration techniques to the simulated BER curve of an ideal receiver.

Covert communication can effectively improve the security of communication content, which has been widely used in wireless communication systems. Most approaches for covert communication are based on the principle of text-embedded in upper layer of the OSI model. In this paper, a novel covert communication scheme is proposed. This method takes advantage of scramble codes and message processing rules of the WCDMA system. It uses a downlink scramble code in the normal WCDMA uplink signal, so that the covert messages will not be received by the base station (BS) and the user equipment (UE). Simulation result shows that the proposed covert communication method has a low bit error rate (BER) performance, and will only make the signals of different business to a slightly lower data transmission rate.

Perkembangan industri wireless saat ini mengalami kemajuan sangat pesat. Teknologi 3G yang ditetapkan oleh ITU akan berperan sangat penting dan semakin dominan dalam perkembangan teknologi komunikasi. Dengan berkembangnya jumlah pelanggan selular WCDMA dipastikan membutuhkan juga cakupan jaringan di dalam sebuah area, baik di dalam ruangan maupun di luar ruangan. Pembahasan berupa studi kasus mengenai analisa cakupan sinyal sistem WCDMA pada sebuah area. Yang paling berpengaruh dalam penelitian ini adalah Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) dan Received Signal Code Power (RSCP). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil perhitungan EIRP adalah 58 dBm dan RSCP -117,73 dBm. Selanjutnya, hasil drive test menunjukan pada bagian outdor lantai 1 diperoleh hasil sebesar -90 dBm, sedangkan untuk bagian indoornya yaitu -99 dBm. Untuk bagian outdoor lantai 2 nilainya -95 dBm dan bagian indoor-nya yaitu -100 dBm

A dual-mode low pass sigma-delta (ΣΔ) modulator at clock rates of 160 and 100 MHz respectively with cascaded integrators is presented for WCDMA and Bluetooth applications. One of main features is that cascaded integrators with feedback as well as distributed input coupling (CIFB) topology erase a summation amplifier and save power consumption. Another feature is that only one set loop filter is designed by switching capacitors to achieve a dual-mode function and greatly saves chip area. A prototype is fabricated in TSMC 0.18-m CMOS process. At the supply voltage of 1.8 V, measured results have achieved the SNDR of 42/33 dB over 1/2 MHz, respectively for Bluetooth/WCDMA. The chip dissipates a low power of 10.5 mW. Including pads the chip area is only 0.61 (0.71× 0.86) mm².

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to design and realize a high gain power amplifier (PA) with low output back-off power using the InGaP/GaAs HBT process for WCDMA applications from 1.85 to 1.91 GHz. Design/methodology/approach – A three stages cascaded PA is designed which observes a high power gain. A 100 mA of quiescent current helps the PA to operate efficiently. The final stage device dimension has been selected diligently in order to deliver a high output power. The inter-stage match between the driver and main stage has been designed to provide maximum power transfer. The output matching network is constructed to deliver a high linear output power which meets the WCDMA adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) requirement of −33 dBc close to the 1 dB gain compression point. Findings – With the cascaded topology, a maximum 31.3 dB of gain is achieved at 1.9 GHz. S11 of less than −18 dB is achieved across the operating frequency band. The maximum output power is indicated to be 32.7 dBm. An ACLR of −33 dBc is achieved at maximum linear output power of 31 dBm. Practical implications – The designed PA is an excellent candidate to be employed in the WCDMA transmitter chain without the aid of additional driver amplifier and linearization circuits. Originality/value – In this work, a fully integrated GaAs HBT PA has been implemented which is capable to operate linearly close to its 1 dB gain compression point.

First built models of Remotely Piloted Air System (RPAS) communication channels based on Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) 3GPP Standard were designed. Base Station (BS) transmission within the Radio Line of Sight (RLoS) and through the satellite using Beyond Radio Line of Sight (BRLoS) was considered. The dependencies of the Bit Error Rate (BER) on the signal-noise ratio for different RPAS velocities and WCDMA сhannel models were obtained. The dependences of the BER on the signal-noise ratio for different levels of satellite transponder nonlinearity were studied. The dependence of the BER on the BS antenna diameter in case of the transponder nonlinearity was analysed. The dependencies for satellite channel characteristics, first obtained taking into account the motion of the RPAS, make it possible to predict the behavior of the communication system in critical conditions.

This paper investigates the chaos-based assessment of the Key performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Cellular network congestion during and after 2011 People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election in Eagle Square within Abuja and its environs. Chaotic quantifiers such as average mutual information, Lyapunov exponents and specific attenuation were employed to study the congestion rate or dynamical state of the network. The chaotic assessment of the Wideband Code Division Multiplexing Access (WCDMA) data services provided by MTN network using KPIs are reported. The data retrieved from the three Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) were used to analyse the performance of the network. The results revealed the state of dynamical behaviour of the congestion during the study period. The aim of this paper is to combine smart antenna beamforming and RAKE receiver in wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA). The proposed method combines spatial diversity as well as temporal diversity to improve the performance and overcome both interferences and multipath fading. This investigation has focused on one of the new proposed blind beamforming algorithms. It is based on constrained constant modulus (CCM) algorithm which is used for deriving a recursive-least-squares (RLS-) type optimization algorithm. We illustrate the comparison of bit error rate (BER) of the proposed receiver with simple correlator and also 1D-RAKE receiver in multiuser detection (MUD) WCDMA. The simulation results show that the proposed 2D-RAKE receiver offers lower BER rather than conventional ones, that is, it is an effective solution for decreasing the effect of interference and increasing the capacity, in a joint state.

Numerous applications use position location such as emergency calls, network optimization to resource management and improve the performance of handover in cellular network.U plink Time Difference of Arrival (U- TDOA) technique in cellular networks is dealt with this technique based on estimating the time difference between the received signal to the base stations of a certain subscriber using the Generalized Cross Correlation method. Chan’s method is used in solving the resulting hyperbolic equations for finding the Position Location (PL) of a certain subscriber. Chan’s method give accurate results, compared with other techniques .in this paper we concern on the some factors (increase sample, increase power without and with interference cancellation) for improved U-TDOA Accuracy.

Due to the fast changing wireless communication standards coupled with strict performance constraints, the demand for flexible yet high-performance architectures is increasing. To tackle the flexibility requirement, software-defined radio (SDR) is emerging as an obvious solution, where the underlying hardware implementation is tuned via software layers to the varied standards depending on power-performance and quality requirements leading to adaptable, cognitive radio. In this paper, we conduct a case study for representatives of two complexity classes of WCDMA channel estimation algorithms and explore the effect of flexibility on energy efficiency using different implementation options. Furthermore, we propose new design guidelines for both highly specialized architectures and highly flexible architectures using high-level synthesis, to enable the required performance and flexibility to support multiple applications. Our experiments with various design points show that the resulting architectures meet the performance constraints of WCDMA and a wide range of options are offered for tuning such architectures depending on power/performance/area constraints of SDR.

Em telecomunicações, com o crescimento da demanda de tráfego de dados nas redes de terceira geração (3G), as operadoras de telefonia móvel têm atentado para o direcionamento dos recursos em infraestrutura nos locais onde se identifica maior necessidade. O direcionamento desses investimentos tem o objetivo de manter a qualidade do serviço prestado, principalmente, em regiões urbanas densas. Neste trabalho, é realizada a predição de séries temporais em redes HSPA – WCDMA dos parâmetros: potência recebida (Rx Power), potência de código do sinal recebido (Received Signal Code Power – RSCP), relação energia por chip em função da interferência (Energy per chip/Interference – Ec/Io) e taxa de transmissão (throughput) na camada física. A coleta dos valores dos parâmetros foi realizada numa rede em pleno funcionamento através de um drive test na cidade de Natal – RN. O modelo utilizado para predição das séries temporais foi o Modelo de Alisamento Exponencial de Holt. O objetivo das predições das séries temporais é verificar para quais parâmetros da rede HSPA – WCDMA o modelo de Holt melhor se adequou.
