Mejri, Mohamed Nidhal. "Securing Vehicular Networks Against Denial of Service Attacks". Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016USPCD038/document.
Pełny tekst źródłaIn this thesis we interested in securing Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) against Denial of Service attacks (DoS) judged to be the most dangerous attacks to such networks. Our work can be divided into three main parts. First, we studied all the various possible existing vulnerabilities to which are exposed VANETs, we focused especially on denial of service attacks. Based on our expertise in cryptography, we explored, identified and classified the possible solutions to a wide range of VANET security breaches from a cryptographic point of view. Indeed, we showed that cryptography with its primitives and fairly powerful tools solves many VANET security problems. Our first contribution in this direction is a secure group key generation algorithm for VANET platoons. In our second contribution, we have developed two new techniques to detect denial of service attacks in VANET networks mainly characterized by the high mobility and frequent disconnections which considerably complicate the detection. Our first detection algorithm is based on the linear regression mathematical concept, fuzzy logic and three newly defined VANET appropriate metrics. In our second algorithm we define a new Shannon Entropy based metric that we introduced for the first time to detect DoS attacks in VANET. Our third contribution was devoted to the reaction against the detected attacks. For that, we used the techniques offered by game theory. We have proposed two non-cooperative reaction games in strategic and extensive forms. For both detection and reaction proposed schemes, experiments were made essentially for the greedy behavior and jamming attacks. All our proposed algorithms present the advantage of rapidity, to be executed by any node of the network and do not require any modification of the 802.11p MAC layer protocol used as a standard for VANETs. In this work, we have participated in securing VANETs, however we believe that much remains to be done. Namely, for example the study of cryptographic solutions we have conducted, allowed us to discover how the use of cryptography for VANET security is a fairly broad topic which needs to be better explored. This will be for us a very promising subject

Pełny tekst źródłaWireless channel congestion control and decentralized resource allocation for 802.11p based V2X communication have been widely investigated for a single Cooperative Awareness service, considering mostly homogenous communication requirement per vehicle. Future connected vehicles will be based on multiple V2X services, with heterogenous number of services and communication needs, which existing resource allocation mechanisms does not address. In this thesis, we analyze several decentralized congestion control and channel resource allocation protocols standardized in Europe for initial V2X deployment. We present issues with the existing approach, in particular the inefficient channel capacity utilization, problematic cross layer coordination, inability to balance resources among multiple V2X safety services and distributed resource allocation for asymmetric number of services per vehicle. We propose improvements to the shortcomings, considering the requirements of future V2X scenarios. We demonstrate the limitations of classifying V2X services using static priority for Quality of Service and propose dynamic prioritization. We design a resource orchestrator at the Service Layer to improve cross layer coordination and dynamically distribute the limited channel resource among multiple services of a vehicle. Furthermore, we present a mechanism to decentrally orchestrate channel resource among a mixed distribution of vehicles with diverse channel usage requirements under channel congestion. Analytical and simulation-based results show the validity of our proposed approach, and the V2X application performance improvement it renders, compared to existing standardized protocols

Pełny tekst źródłaRoad traffic crashes are one of the world's largest public health and injury problems. Therefore road security has always been the main concern of transportation security stakeholders. During the last decades, public authorities and automotive companies have been involved in the safety improvement of our transportation systems by reducing the consequences of imminent accidents and decreasing the number of road injuries. Nevertheless, most of these preventive measures can only provide passive safety since they focus on the post collision phase. In fact, materials of energy absorption like airbags reduce the impact of an accident but do not prevent it. This recognition of the inadequacy of these passive measures has oriented industrials to new and innovative perspectives that seek to avoid accidents and detect dangers in advance rather than minimize the damage. In fact, according to relevant studies, 60pers of accidents can be avoided if the driver had been alerted half a second before the collision. Drastic steps are already taken by automobile manufacturers to offer to drivers a larger telematics horizon and therefore enhance their range of awareness. If a collision is inevitable, active safety technology can proactively prepare the vehicle for the impact to reduce injuries. For example, vehicles' sensors are employed to measure and assess a vehicle' s condition and environment, enabling the issuance of early warnings to drivers. On the other hand, a remarkable and similar step in that direction is achieved by networking research community using vehicular networks within Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

Pełny tekst źródłaThe present work corresponds to the course of Business Development 2, throughout the development we will apply concepts and tools learned throughout the career of the UPC University. Currently, Peru presents a gradual growth in the automotive fleet, with a greater concentration in Lima Metropolitana and Callao. Sample of this can be seen in everyday life, when see traffic everywhere. Service Car Xpress, raises the business idea that points to the automotive sector, car care and vehicle advice. Our idea is directed to B and C socioeconomic status and to people or companies that have vehicles considered second-hand or to those who are planning to acquire a vehicle within districts such as Miraflores, Surco, Chorrillos, Barranco, San Miguel, Surquillo and Jesús María. Service Car Xpress, arrives with a different value proposition, services purely at home trying to reduce the lost time of our customers while they are in workshops, we are going to make it be something simply practical and innovative, available at the time. In order to fulfill this value proposition, ScarX has created a business model that, through technology is going to optimize the time a car service can take. We offer our clients the highest quality in all processes taking advantage of all available resources.

Pełny tekst źródłaThe fact that vehicular ad hoc network accommodates two types of communications, Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure, has opened the door for a plethora of interesting applications to thrive. Some of these applications, known as infotainment applications, focus on enhancing the passengers' experience. They have rigid requirements in terms of delivery delay and throughput. Numerous approaches have been proposed, at medium access control and routing layers, to enhance the quality of service of such applications. However, existing schemes have several shortcomings. Subsequently, the design of new and efficient approaches is vital for the proper functioning of infotainment applications. This work proposes three schemes. The first is a novel routing protocol, labeled SCRP. It leverages real-time vehicular traffic information to create backbones over road segments and connect them at intersections using bridge nodes. These nodes are responsible for collecting connectivity and delay information, which are used to select routing paths with low end-to-end delay. The second is an altruistic service channel selection scheme, labeled ASSCH. It first collects real-time service channels information and feeds it to a stochastic model that predicts the state of these channels in the near future. The least congested channels are then selected to be used. The third is an analytical model for the performance of the IEEE 802.11p Enhanced Distributed Channel Access mechanism that considers various factors, including the transmission opportunity (TXOP), unexploited by IEEE 802.11p.

Pełny tekst źródłaVehicle to everything (V2X), including vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2I), is the umbrella for the vehicular communication system, where active road safety, infotainment and traffic management messages are transmitted over high-bandwidth, low-latency, high-reliability links, paving the way to fully autonomous driving. The ultimate objective of next generation V2X communication systems is enabling accident-free cooperative driving that uses the available roadway efficiently. To achieve this goal, the communication system will need to enable a diverse set of use cases, each with a specific set of requirements. The main use case categories requirements analysis, specifically the critical realtime applications, points out the need for an efficient V2X system design that could fulfill the network performance. The Fifth Generation (5G) technology, with its provisioned QoS features in terms of high capacity and low latency, is advocated as a prominent solution to cope with the firm requirements imposed by V2X applications. In this multifaceted vehicular 5G ecosystem, diverse communication technologies are envisioned, spanning from IEEE 802.11p, LTE, LTE-V to vehicular visible light communications. Therefore, the heterogeneity of radio access technologies will raise a concern regarding the seamless mobility management and the quality of service guarantee. This thesis provides a novel mobility management scheme devised for 5G vehicular networks based on the emerging Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology.SDN provides network programmability that strives to achieve an efficient network resource allocation and mobility management. Our research work tackles three objectives. At a first stage, we design a software defined vehicular network topology. On the top of this topology, we implement twoSDN applications, namely Network Selection Application and Mobility Management Application. The proposed architecture is enhanced by a controller placement solution that aims at reducing communication latency. Moreover, a special concern is devoted to design a SDN road active safety application that controls speed traps placement. The proposed application aims at reducing accidents rate which is a main purpose of future Intelligent Transportation System. The second objective of this thesis tackles the mobility management problem. This is achieved by implementing SDN mobility related applications on the top of the adopted network topology. The first application is dedicated to solve the network selection problem; it aims at mapping running V2X sessions to the corresponding technology. The second application is conceived to solve the handover procedure; this is achieved using packets duplication and introducing an efficient routing algorithm. The third thesis objective is focused on QoS provisioning for V2X communications
Naddeh, Nathalie. "Impact of slicing on radio resource management in 5G for vehicular URLLC and eMBB". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Institut polytechnique de Paris, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022IPPAS021.
Pełny tekst źródłaThe Fifth Generation-New Radio (5G-NR) introduced the concept of slicing to target different types of services. We consider in this thesis vehicular traffic, with vehicles sending two types of flows: enhanced Mobile BroadBand (eMBB) and Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC). These flows are transported in two different slices, the former trying to guarantee and/or maximize the throughput, while the latter has to meet stringent Quality of Service (QoS) constraints in terms of delay, on the order of 1ms, and reliability, on the order of 99,999%. These slices with heterogeneous traffic profiles and QoS requirements must share the same physical infrastructure. This thesis aims to propose new resource allocation schemes to satisfy URLLC stringent QoS requirements without impacting too much eMBB traffic. One main challenge is when resources initially reserved for eMBB must be allocated to the arrival of new URLLC flow. Due to using different numerologies, these resources need to be reconfigured, adding extra delay on the order of 80ms, which exceeds the URLLC delay budget. To respond to this delay problem, we propose proactive resource reservation schemes for URLLC which anticipates the vehicles' arrival in a cell and (re-)configures the slice before their effective arrival in the cell. These approaches enable to meet the delay and throughput requirements of vehicular URLLC and eMBB traffic, respectively. We additionally introduce an inter-slice dimensioning model that considers user's radio conditions and trajectories in the network, which enables taking into consideration users Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCS). By doing so, we achieve a better resource allocation through finer optimization. Our results show that we are able to satisfy traffic requirements with a better resource utilization.Eventually, we investigate an alternative dimensioning model based on large deviation bounds. We analyze the tail of the system corresponding to the URLLC outage region. We consider two approaches: with and without packet queuing. We observe that large deviation bounds result in slightly more over-reservation than the aforementioned approach when applied to URLLC, with the advantage of instantaneous computation of the needed resources

Bouali, Tarek. "Platform for efficient and secure data collection and exploitation in intelligent vehicular networks". Thesis, Dijon, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016DIJOS003/document.
Pełny tekst źródłaNowadays, automotive area is witnessing a tremendous evolution due to the increasing growth in communication technologies, environmental sensing & perception aptitudes, and storage & processing capacities that we can find in recent vehicles. Indeed, a car is being a kind of intelligent mobile agent able to perceive its environment, sense and process data using on-board systems and interact with other vehicles or existing infrastructure. These advancements stimulate the development of several kinds of applications to enhance driving safety and efficiency and make traveling more comfortable. However, developing such advanced applications relies heavily on the quality of the data and therefore can be realized only with the help of a secure data collection and efficient data treatment and analysis. Data collection in a vehicular network has been always a real challenge due to the specific characteristics of these highly dynamic networks (frequent changing topology, vehicles speed and frequent fragmentation), which lead to opportunistic and non long lasting communications. Security, remains another weak aspect in these wireless networks since they are by nature vulnerable to various kinds of attacks aiming to falsify collected data and affect their integrity. Furthermore, collected data are not understandable by themselves and could not be interpreted and understood if directly shown to a driver or sent to other nodes in the network. They should be treated and analyzed to extract meaningful features and information to develop reliable applications. In addition, developed applications always have different requirements regarding quality of service (QoS). Several research investigations and projects have been conducted to overcome the aforementioned challenges. However, they still did not meet perfection and suffer from some weaknesses. For this reason, we focus our efforts during this thesis to develop a platform for a secure and efficient data collection and exploitation to provide vehicular network users with efficient applications to ease their travel with protected and available connectivity. Therefore, we first propose a solution to deploy an optimized number of data harvesters to collect data from an urban area. Then, we propose a new secure intersection based routing protocol to relay data to a destination in a secure manner based on a monitoring architecture able to detect and evict malicious vehicles. This protocol is after that enhanced with a new intrusion detection and prevention mechanism to decrease the vulnerability window and detect attackers before they persist their attacks using Kalman filter. In a second part of this thesis, we concentrate on the exploitation of collected data by developing an application able to calculate the most economic itinerary in a refined manner for drivers and fleet management companies. This solution is based on several information that may affect fuel consumption, which are provided by vehicles and other sources in Internet accessible via specific APIs, and targets to economize money and time. Finally, a spatio-temporal mechanism allowing to choose the best available communication medium is developed. This latter is based on fuzzy logic to assess a smooth and seamless handover, and considers collected information from the network, users and applications to preserve high quality of service

Pełny tekst źródłaTraffic congestion has become a constant in city life, and Lima is not the exception. However, there are actions that can be implemented to minimize the time lost when traveling on high-traffic routes, especially during rush hours, such as the case of the road network formed by the Faustino Sánchez Carrión and La Marina avenues, from Gregorio Escobedo Ave. to Antonio José de Sucre Ave. In that context, the purpose of this project is to provide an alternative of road offer management which contributed to improving traffic measurement indicators; among them, saturation degree, intersections level of service that are part of the research, and delays due to waiting time. In doing so, Synchro 8 is used. This simulation software functions as a support for the solution model generation, which is performed at the mesoscopic level. Synchro is compatible with the Highway Capacity Manual - HCM 2000 and 2010; but also, it has a set of tools that allow it to incorporate its own analysis technique. In the case of this project, traffic evaluation is developed on the basis of vehicular operation system by means of the HCM 2010 Automobile Methodology; that is, the pedestrians and cyclists analysis are not taken into consideration. The results obtained show that it is possible to optimize vehicular traffic through the correct use of traffic simulators and not only through large-scale geometric interventions, or with excessive investment in new infrastructure.

Pełny tekst źródłaThe objective of this thesis is to propose mitigation measures that allow reducing traffic congestion on the road network around the Shopping Center to be built in the La Molina district called “Portal La Molina”. To do this, based on a theoretical and practical analysis, according to the detailed segmentation methodology in the Highway Capacity Manual 2010 (HCM 2010), vehicle counts were carried out for three days in January 2020 at the three critical intersections around of the project. With these data, the service levels of the three analyzed intersections were determined, these being level “D”, “C” and “C” for the current situation. Then, considering a future situation projected to 5 years which includes the operation of the "Portal La Molina" Shopping Center, a result of service level "F", "D" and "F" was obtained. Likewise, both scenarios were simulated in Synchro Studio 9 software, managing to represent the geometric characteristics of the road, vehicle entry and exit, vehicle queues, volume and capacity of the intersections. Subsequently, these results were compared with those obtained from the simulation of the measures proposed by the approved Road impact study of the project. Finally, to solve this situation, modifications were made such as the implementation of traffic lights, optimization of the traffic light cycle, modification of lanes, change of vehicular and pedestrian accesses, which resulted in a service level "F", "C" and "C”. Which allows to comply with the reduction of congestion in the area of influence of the project.

Pełny tekst źródłaCurrently, importers and dealers of new light vehicles in Peru tend to centralize and outsource their automotive logistics needs (storage, pdi and distribution), but the current supply is poor, as verified in the survey. This represents an opportunity, considering that a sustained growth in the level of sales of new vehicles in our country is expected (68% accumulated from 2018 to 2027), according to projections of the Asociación Automotriz del Perú (AAP). MAQUINARIAS S.A., is a recognized company in the peruvian automotive sector, since it has more than 60 years, and is currently going through a stage of changes, which makes it have available installed capacity (warehouse, infrastructure and equipment). The present project (2020-2029), proposes the creation of a differentiated value proposal focused on: the location of the warehouse and the reputation of the company, defining market penetration strategies, with the aim of positioning this new line of business and reach at least the projected occupancy level (starting with 25% in the first year and with an annual growth of 10%). The initial investment is S / 2'639,468.03, (60% share capital - S / 1'583,680.82) and (40% financing - S / 1'055,787.21), determining a WACC of 11.12%, so after the economic-financial evaluation, a positive NPV is obtained, a TIRM greater than the WACC and a payback period within the analysis period. Therefore, it is concluded that the project is viable, so its implementation is recommended.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis proposes a solution scenario to the existing vehicular congestion at the intersection of Velasco Astete Avenue and Primavera Avenue located in the district of San Borja bordering Surco. Considering the current demand and vehicle offer, and the geometric characteristics that this intersection and its adjoining streets have. Likewise, the behavior of the studied crossing was evaluated under the newly implemented “Pico y Placa” vehicle restriction plan. This plan effectively altered the vehicle flow, despite not being a road affected by this measure, it was concluded that it indirectly affected the vehicle flow. It should be noted that the only purpose of evaluating the conditions of this vehicle restriction plan was to collect the field information, as accurately as possible and obtain accurate and real results. Once all the information was collected in the field, various parameters were analyzed, in order to obtain values such as the level of service and the delays of the intersection under study. Having obtained the results of the current road conditions, the possible mitigation plans were evaluated to improve the service conditions of the study area. Opting for a geometric redesign in collaboration with a coordinated traffic light at the intersection of Avenida de la Floresta and Monte Pío Street with Primavera Avenue. A noticeable improvement was obtained in the studied crossing, not only for level of service but for the delays too, without having to sacrifice the fluidity existing in the newly opened crossing.

Pełny tekst źródłaEach day, Humanity loses thousands of persons on roads when they were traveling to work, to study or even to distract. The financial cost of these injuries is also terrifying: Some statistics evaluate the financial cost of vehicle accidents at 160 billion Euro in Europe each year. These alarming figures have driven researchers, automotive companies and public governments to improve the safety of our transportation systems and communication technologies aiming at offering safer roads and smooth driving to human beings. In this context, Vehicular Adhoc Networks, where vehicles are able to communicate with each others and with existent road side units, emerge as a promising wireless technology able to enhance the vision of drivers and offer larger telematic horizon. VANETs promising applications are not only restricted to road safety but span from vehicle trafficoptimization like flow congestion control to commercial applications like file sharing and internet access. Safety applications require that their alert information is propagated to the concerned vehicles (located in the hazardous zone) with little delay and high reliability. For these reasons, this category of applications is considered as delay sensitive and broadcast-oriented nature. While classical blind flooding is rapid, its major drawback is its huge bandwidth utilization. In this thesis, we are interested on enhancing vehicular communications under different scenarios and optimizations: First, We focus on deriving a new solution (EBDR) to disseminate alert messages among moving vehicles while maintaining it efficient and rapid. Our proposal is based on directional antennas to broadcast messages and a route guidance algorithm to choose the best path for the packets. Findings confirmed the efficiency of our approach in terms of probability of success and end-to-end delays. Moreover, in spite of the broadcast nature of the proposed technique, all transmissions stop very soon after the arrival of a packet to its destination representing a strong feature in the conception of EBDR. Second, we propose a novel mathematical framework to evaluate the performance of EBDR analytically. Although most of the proposed techniques present in literature use experimental or simulation tools to defend their performance, we rely here on mathematical models to confirm our achieved results. Our proposed framework allows to derive meaningful performance metrics including the probability of transmission success and the required number of hops to reach thefinal destination. Third, we refine our proposed broadcast-based routing EBDR to provide more efficient broadcasting by adjusting the transmission range of each vehicle based on its distance to the destination and the local node density. This mechanism allows better minimization of interferences and bandwidth's saving. Furthermore, an analytical model is derived to calculate thetransmission area in the case of a simplified node distribution. Finally, we are interested on data collection mechanisms as they make inter-vehicle communications more efficient and reliable and minimize the bandwidth utilization. Our technique uses Q-learning to collect data among moving vehicles in VANETs. The aim behind using the learning technique is to make the collecting operation more reactive to nodes mobility and topology changes. For the simulation part, we compare it to a non-learning version to study the effect of the learning technique. Findings show that our technique far outperforms other propositions and achieves a good trade off between delay and collection ratio. In conclusion, we believe that the different contributions presented in this Thesis will improve the efficiency of inter-vehicle communications in both dissemination and data collection directions. In addition, our mathematical contributions will enrich the literature in terms of constructing suitable models to evaluate broadcasting techniques in urban zones

Pełny tekst źródłaSmart parking, allowing drivers to access parking information through their smart-phone, is proposed to ease drivers' pain. We first spotlight the manner to collect parking information by introducing the multi-hop sensor network architecture, and how the network is formed. We then introduce the traffic intensity models by looking at the vehicle's arrival and departure probabilities, following the heavy-tailed distribution. We study the deployment strategy of wireless on-street parking sensor layouts. We define a multiple-objective problem and solve it with two real street parking maps. In turn, we present a Publish-Subscribe service system to provide good parking information to drivers. We illustrate the system with a vehicular network and point out the importance of content and context of a driver’s message. To evaluate the resilience, we propose an extended Publish-Subscribe model, and evaluate it under different unforeseen circumstances. Our work is based on the premise that large-scale parking sensors are deployed in the city. We look at the whole picture of urban service from viewpoint of the municipality. As such, we shed light on two main topics: the information collection on sensor deployment and an extended version of Publish-Subscribe messaging paradigm. Our work gives a guideline from network-related perspectives for city before launching a smart parking or any similar real-time urban service. It also provides a meaningful evaluation platform for testing more realistic datasets, such as real vehicle traces or network traffic

Pełny tekst źródłaThe thesis topic is a part of the global interest in wireless vehicular networks. Over the past decade, the number of road accidents has increased quickly with the growth of the automotive sector. Statistics have demonstrated that the high number of accidents on the road is primarily due to the high traffic density and the lack of information about other drivers' decisions. Recent studies have shown the importance of vehicular communications, which allow the exchange of real-time traffic safety information between vehicles and thus contribute to accidents avoidance.Through vehicular communication, known as vehicle-to-everything (V2X), which includes vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure, vehicles can exchange road safety and traffic management messages with low latency. Platoon formation is considered an interactive option that can improve V2X communication and ensure more safety. The vehicle platoon is defined as a group of vehicles following each other, moving in a straight line with a very short inter-vehicle space. Several vehicle platoon formation strategies have been defined in order to manage the platoon's lifetime and stability. However, none of these strategies has taken into account traffic congestion and speed constraints. The first objective of our work is to propose a new platoon formation algorithm called speed platoon splitting (SPS) where vehicles are grouped according to their destination (the leading vehicle has the farthest destination and the latest vehicle has the nearest destination). The main purpose of SPS is to target alleviating congestion by using a ticket pool and classify platoons according to their velocity in two different lanes. Performance analysis shows that SPS provides platoon stability and reduces highway congestion.V2X communications can be achieved via radio frequency (RF) technologies, especially the 802.11p standard. However, due to the accelerated growth in the number of devices, this technology suffers from several problems such as high latency and channel congestion. An alternative communication solution is provided by visible light communication (VLC). VLC is the usage of visible light as a wireless data transmission technique. VLC reduces complexity and cost, enables high precision positioning and increases network scalability and security. The second objective of this thesis tackles the performance of VLC in V2V among the platoon members. For this purpose, we considered two mathematical models validated by simulations for two different scenarios (we have taken an M/M/1 and an M/GI/1 queues for the first and the second scenarios respectively). The performance evaluations present a detailed study of the VLC in the presence of disruptive vehicles and they are used to derive computations of the Quality of Service parameters. The main conclusion drawn is that VLC technology is considered an efficient technique but it is affected by disruptive vehicles. The third objective of the thesis focuses on proposing a mechanism for vertical handover (VHO) between VLC and RF technologies. This objective is composed of two parts, the first one is based on the threshold value to make a vertical handover decision or by using machine learning techniques. The second part is to choose the appropriate technology after VHO using the utility function or the cooperative game.Throughout the thesis, the performance evaluation of the VLC is based on mathematical modelling. Moreover, the simulation is performed to validate this mathematical modelling

Pełny tekst źródłaTraffic congestion is one of the most acute problems in the city of Lima. This problem is reflected in almost all the streets and main avenues of the city, due to factors such as the increase in the vehicle fleet that collapses the capacity of the road infrastructure and leaves the traffic management for which it was designed in disuse; In other words, the increase in the flow of vehicles causes great congestion, long queues of vehicles, prolonged delays and poor service levels. The study area to be treated is in the district of Surco and the intervened road is the Caminos del Inca avenue in the stretch from Batallón Callao street to Cádiz street crossing important avenues such as Velazco Astete and Higuereta. This is one of most heavily traveled avenue in the district of Surco because of the shopping centers, institutes, universities, among others, that are close to this important traffic artery. Therefore, this thesis work has as main objective to reduce the vehicular congestion of this avenue and improve the service levels of its intersections with the implementation of the green wave through modeling and simulation in the Synchro 8 software. For the elaboration of this research work, field data were collected, such as the vehicle capacity to determine the peak hour and the hourly volume of maximum vehicular demand, as well as the measurement of the traffic light cycles and their faces in a typical day of the week. With all this data compiled in the field work, saturation degrees and current service levels were obtained so that later they can be evaluated in order to implement the green wave and optimize traffic. Finally, with the implementation of the green wave and traffic management modifications, notable improvements were obtained such as optimization of service levels at intersections, for example, at intersection No. 01 it went from C to B, at No. 02 from F to D, in No. 03 from C to B and in No. 04 from C to B; in the same way, the travel time from an extreme point, intersection No. 01, to the other, Intersection No. 04, improved considerably from 6 minutes and 30 seconds approximately to 1 minute and 28 seconds due to the progressive synchronization of the green colour of the traffic lights in each intersection.

Over the last few years there has been a considerable development in the eld of vehicular communications (VC) in order to develop standards and prototypes that satisfy the requirements of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). One of these standards is the IEEE 802.11p that de nes the physical layers to create a platform for vehicular communications. Cars and elements on the road are viewed as wireless routers (nodes), creating a VANET (Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network), which is part of the ITS. It's intention is to provide several services as: a safer environment for drivers by reducing the number of accidents/injuries; improve tra c congestion and consequently reduce the impact of cars in the environment; provide infotainment services. These networks have promising features to guarantee a high level of safety between drivers, however they have to work on a secure and anonymous way since they can be threatened and attacked by malicious sources. Therefore more recently studies have focused on studying the impact of security on VC. In this dissertation it is proposed the creation of an architecture and the analysis of the impact of security services when they are added to VANET. This is achieved by using the IEEE 1609.2 Standard to overcome the limitations of security on vehicular communications. An implementation of the required cryptographic algorithms and protocols to manage the sharing of secure messages according to the IEEE 1609.2 Standard was developed with the help of the OpenSSL library. The ECDSA cryptographic algorithm ensures the authentication of all messages, which is the focus of this dissertation. In order to achieve an architecture capable of being integrated and tested in a real scenario, the implemented system was joined with other applications as the WSMP (WAVE Short Message Protocol) and the generation of CAM messages. With this integration it was possible to evaluate the overhead that is caused when the process to sign/verify a digital message is added to a vehicular communication. For these tests a Raspberry-Pi was used as a On Board Unit, concluding that a pure software implementation is not feasible, allowing only a maximum number of 40 signature veri cations/second using the ECDSA cryptographic algorithm.

Pełny tekst źródłaWhat will be tomorrow's big cities objectives and challenges? Most of the operational problems from the real world are inherently subject to uncertainty, requiring the decision system to compute new decisions dynamically, as random events occur. In this thesis, we aim at tackling an important growing problem in urban context: online dynamic vehicle routing. Applications of online vehicle routing in the society are manyfold, from intelligent on demand public transportation to sameday delivery services and responsive home healthcare. Given a fleet of vehicles and a set of customers, each being potentially able to request a service at any moment, the current thesis aims at answering the following question. Provided the current state at some moment of the day, which are the best vehicle actions such that the expected number of satisfied requests is maximized by the end of the operational day? How can we minimize the expected average intervention delays of our mobile units? Naturally, most of the requests remain unknown until they appear, hence being revealed online. We assume a stochastic knowledge on each operational problem we tackle, such as the probability that customer request arise at a given location and a given time of the day. By using techniques from operations research and stochastic programming, we are able to build and solve mathematical models that compute near-optimal anticipative actions, such as preventive vehicle relocations, in order to either minimize the overall expected costs or maximize the quality of service. Optimization under uncertainty is definitely not a recent issue. Thanks to evolution of both theoretical and technological tools, our ability to face the unknown constantly grows. However, most of the interesting problems remain extremely hard, if not impossible, to solve. There is still a lot of work. Generally speaking, this thesis explores some fundamentals of optimization under uncertainty. By integrating a stochastic component into the models to be optimized, we will see how it is in fact possible to create anticipation

Pełny tekst źródłaThe vehicular network concept, which initially focused on vehicle-to-vehicle communication, is opening up to other types of communications involving vehicles and infrastructure (network), cloud or pedestrians, etc. to meet the needs of the wide variety of new applications envisaged in the framework of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The multitude of network access technologies, the very high mobility of vehicles and their high density in urban areas, and the predominance of wireless communications make it a heterogeneous network, with very dynamic characteristics, some of which are difficult to predict, and subject to scalability problems. Given these issues, one direction, considered by the scientific community, is to apply the SDN (Software Defined Network) paradigm to vehicular networks as a means of, on the one hand, enabling the hybridization and unification of control of different network access technologies and, on the other hand, taking advantage of the centralized view of the network and contextual data from the cloud to develop new control algorithms that can potentially rely on the prediction/estimation of the network state and thus anticipate certain control decisions. Therefore, this thesis is part of this framework. Its contributions aim at developing the concept of SDVN (Software Defined Vehicular Network). Four contributions are developed. The first one specifies the architecture of a hybrid SDN vehicular network capable of meeting the challenges described above. This architecture is complemented by an SDN controller placement solution. We propose a dynamic approach capable of adjusting the optimal placement of controllers according to network topology changes due to road traffic fluctuations. This work also covers the problem of global network vision that an SDN controller can build up, which is a prerequisite and the cornerstone of any network control function. To this problem, we propose amendments and extensions to the "de facto" topology discovery service designed for wired networks to adapt it to the vehicular context. As a complement to the discovery service, we also propose a topology estimation service based on Machine Learning techniques to provide network control functions with a potential vision of the future state of the network and thus open them to proactive and intelligent network control

According to their usages, they can be classified into two types of ITS applications, which are safety applications and non-safety applications. Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a key component of ITS since it enables communications among transportation units. These communications support different ITS applications with various properties. Between two types of applications, we are interested in safety applications which have tighter quality and security constraints. Depending on an applied scenario of a given safety application, the exchanged information among vehicles must be broadcast locally within one-hop communication and/or also be notified to vehicles in large range. The main objective of this thesis is to improve the performance of safety applications in term of the quality of service and security, in both one-hop communication and multi-hop communication. We focus on reliability, connectivity and Denial of Services (DoS) attack. We study and propose technical solutions coming from lower layers (Physical, MAC and network layers) which play a fundamental role in mitigation to challenges created by the nature of the vehicular environment. Firstly, we introduce a reliable scheme to achieve the reliability for broadcasting. In our scheme, the safety messages are rebroadcast when the sender is solicited. This increases the percentage of vehicles receiving the messages while duplicated messages are limited. Secondly, with consideration of the fragmentation of the network, we study solutions that overcome the temporary disconnection in the network to bring the safety information to the recipients. Based on the social properties of vehicular networks, we propose a social-based forwarding protocol to support the communication between vehicles to points of interest that provide safety services with looser time constraints, such as search and rescue. Thirdly, we investigate jamming attack, a kind of DoS attacks, which is crucial for safety applications because of the adequate condition of the attack at the lower layers. We model jamming attack on broadcasting in order to study the degradation caused by the attack on network performance. The degradation at a certain level in network performance is an indication of a jamming attack presence in the network; therefore results from this analysis will allow us to determine network performance thresholds to distinguish between normal and attacked scenarios. However, according to our analysis, the method using the degradation as an indication to detect a jamming attack is not feasible for real-time applications. Hence, we propose methods to detect jamming attacks in real-time. Our methods allow real-time detection with high accuracy, not only at the central monitor but also at each vehicle. Therefore, vehicles are noticed about the attack soon enough to recover the communication and react to these attacks

Pełny tekst źródłaVehicular networks, also known as VANETs, are an ad-hoc network formed by vehicles and road-side units. Nowadays they have been attracting big interest both from researchers as from the automotive industry. With the upcoming of automotive specific operating systems and self-driving cars, the use of applications on vehicles and the integration with common mobile devices is becoming a big part of VANETs. Although many advances have been made on this field, there is still a big discrepancy between the communication layer services provided by VANETs and the user level services, namely those accessible through mobile applications on other networks and technologies. Users and developers are accustomed to user-to-user or user-tobusiness communication without explicit concerns related with the available communication transport layer. Such is not possible in VANETs since people may use more than one vehicle. However, to send a message to a specific user in these networks, there is a need to know the ID of the vehicle where the user is, meaning that there is a lack of services that map each individual user to VANETs endpoint (vehicle identification). This dissertation work proposes VANESS, a naming service as a resource to support user-to-user communication within a heterogeneous scenario comprising typical ISP scenario and VANETs focused on mobile devices. The proposed system is able to map the user to an end point either locally (i.e. there is not internet connection at all), online (i.e. system is not in a vehicular network but has direct internet connection) and using a gateway (i.e. the system is in a vehicular network where some of the nodes have internet access and will act as a gateway). VANESS was fully implemented on android OS with results proving his viability, and partially on iOS showing its multiplatform capabilities.

Nós utilizamos os simuladores Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO), Objective Modular Network Testbed in C++ (OMNET++) e o Vehicles in network simulation (Veins).

Pełny tekst źródłaThe traffic explosion in today’s mobile networks is one of the major concerns of mobile operators. This explosion is mostly widening the gap between networks’ capacities and users’ growing needs in terms of bandwidth and QoS (Quality of Service), which directly impacts operators’ business profitability. In this context, Device-to-Device (D2D) communications offer mobile operators business and technical opportunities by allowing the network traffic offload with D2D direct communications between mobile devices. The recent standardization of D2D-based services as Proximity Services (ProSe) by the 3GPP provides already a set of enhancements to the current LTE/4G architecture to support these services. However, still in its infancy, the proposed solutions are envisioned for short-term market deployments and for a limited set of service categories (i.e public safety services). As a first contribution of this thesis, the proposed Distributed ProSe Architecture enhances the current ProSe architecture for a longer term deployment perspective of D2D-based services. On the basis of this enhanced architecture, vehicular communications and related services are further investigated as a specific implementation of ProSe as well as a new market opportunity for mobile operators. The CVS (Cellular Vehicular Services) solution is then introduced as an architecture framework that enables the integration of vehicular networks into mobile operators’ network infrastructure. A mobile network clustering algorithm and D2D relay-based communication mechanisms are used in the solution design in order to optimize the use of both core and radio network resources. Performance evaluation through analytical modeling and simulations are also carried out to validate the proposed contributions

Pełny tekst źródłaVehicle-to-anything (V2X) refers to an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) where the vehicles and infrastructure systems are all interconnected with each other. This connectivity provides precise knowledge of the traffic situations across the entire road network which in turn helps to enhance traffic safety, reduce congestion time, avoid economic losses, in addition to enable a variety of novel ITS applications for road safety and passenger infotainment. V2X communications is based on two technologies; Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) which is an essential technology for realizing V2X and cellular networks which provide an o_-the-shelf potential solution for V2X communications. Although the research community has achieved much great progress on V2X study, there are still some challenges that need to be overcome and some key issues that need to be further investigated. This thesis considers two of the most prominent issues; reliability and security of V2X communications. From the reliability perspective, we first propose User Model-based Method to evaluate the capacity of IEEE 802.11p-based DSRC standard to meet the Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements of safety messages dissemination. The novelty of the method lies in its application which avoids the problem of defining a Markovian model by determining the steady state moments of the induced delay process. This applicability feature provides important insights about IEEE 802.11p design parameters and its functionality leading to proposed reconfigurations for enhanced performance. Moreover, we propose Regenerative model, that we believe to be the first to address the problem of interconnected-traffic process characterization in large-scale hybrid V2X networks. The latter is a primary concern in achieving efficient and adequate operability for large-scale vehicular networks. From the security perspective, we introduce a new optimization methodology which ties the QoS requirements of different application classes with the basic design parameters of the contention resolution mechanism in IEEE 802.11p MAC protocol. In addition, a novel detection algorithm for jamming attacks in the vehicular environment is proposed. The algorithm utilizes the developed optimization methodology to de_ne a detection threshold. By integrating the sequential detection of change method it traces and detects jamming attacks whenever the threshold value is crossed. Analytical and simulation experimentations have been performed for each contribution to show the validity of the proposed methods/models and to prove their efficiency

Pełny tekst źródłaThis Thesis is developed in the field of Service Productivity focused on the line of Business Post Sale of Automotive Companies. Despite the fact that the Automotive sector has a great impact of the Peruvian GDP, this sector is not yet optimized by the automotive companies. Throughout this paper it shows that there is a low sales productivity post within a dealership Toyota brand due to the lack of standardization of the relevant procedures for repair and maintenance. A complete diagnosis is made to find the main problems of the company using Engineering tools, a hypothesis is proposed and opportunities for improvement are quantified. It is found that the current productivity after-sales service is 0.92 u / Hh, due to inadequate working methods, internal disorder workshop and lack of knowledge of ability of service providers working on site. Once the problems are identified, service models are revised to develop a methodological route that will allow increasing productivity indicators. To this end, the three solution proposals were developed and implemented: Supplier Relationship Management, Standardization of the Express service and 5S Optimization. Finally, the scope of this paper to validate the proposed standardized model, resulting in increased productivity to 1.2 u / Hh and internal process improvement. The economic impact of the implementation of the improvements has a TIR 113% and the B / CE of 6 in the Automotive Workshop.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis consists of the research and development of the implementation of ITS technologies to improve the passability at the intersection of Primavera and Velasco Astete avenues. This implementation is aimed at reducing vehicular congestion at the intersection through better traffic management without the need to implement road infrastructure based on civil works, such as extension of lanes, creation of viaducts, overpasses, among others, which require a greater capital investment. It is for this reason that the purpose of this thesis is in the proposal to improve the current traffic situation on the stage under study with the implementation of ITS technologies through its simulation in the Aimsun v8.2 software. For this, the service levels were studied according to the concepts established by the HCM 2010 methodology. The implementation of ITS in the scenario studied allowed an average reduction of 150 seconds in the delay time, the factors of the average tail and vehicle density also showed improvements. Likewise, the level of service (LOS), after the analysis of the results, presented a significant improvement when passing from an F classification to a C classification at the main intersection studied. Finally, from the cost analysis carried out, through the association with the social value factors of time, VHMD and travel time, it was obtained that the implementation of STIs at the intersection would represent a benefit of S /. 1,227.77 / km. Hour. Average passengers.

According to market analysis, the same business strategy and an established business plan; The starting point of the project is to meet the need of clients who attend similar businesses where the process is manual to rustic in many cases where it is observed that the tangible time / price factor is a marked deficiency in many of them. A production projection is also presented based on a number of vehicles per day to be served that generate a profitability associated with the need for capital amortization, operating expenses, personnel, even perhaps an expansion could be estimated if it were the case in the future of Increase in the number of vehicles in the country, which currently has good expectations. Finally, the conclusions detailing the result of analyzing the different variables that can affect the development of the business, the need for an adequate marketing and market plan, the importance of the place of operations, the main differentiated characteristic of the business ( automated vehicle washing) and what it represents as a vision in a public in need of this type of services.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis research work was carried out with the idea of formulating improvement proposals for the reduction of the TCO for fleet management by attention of a company that provides service to the main telecommunications companies. Currently, the cost of this management represents 42% of the company's total costs, therefore, it represents an important opportunity to start an analysis of its TCO and identify potential savings. The challenge of this company is to become the reference network service provider for communications and energy companies in a profitable manner, for this reason an adequate management of their costs is the way to be competitive. The problem identified is about the non-compliance with the budgets assigned to fleet management, this budget being distributed among all its offices. The negative impact of this situation generates over costs for the organization and possible loss of customers due to not being able to offer competitive prices in the tenders it participates. To solve the problem, the thesis is divided in five chapters: The first focuses on the definition of the problem and the justification of why the analysis of this thesis is necessary. In the second chapter, the concepts related to TCO and fleet management are presented, as well as lean tools that will be the basis for formulating proposals for both reductions of TCO and increase of attentions; additionally, the state of the art with academic research related to the topic. In the third chapter, the current situation of fleet management related to the TCO and level of attentions are described, the office and the cost components for improvement are analyzed and defined, in addition to identifying the causes that originate the problems. With the identification of the causes, in the fourth chapter, we proceed to develop the improvement proposal supported by Lean tools, to finally finish with the calculations of expected benefits and mainly the impact on the TCO and current management budget. Finally, the fifth chapter shows the final conclusions and recommendations for implementation. The work performed expects as a final result the reduction in the TCO by attention and compliance with the assigned budgets of fleet management, optimizing the company's cost management and contributing positively by increasing the possibilities of opening new businesses by offering competitive prices in tenders.
