The “IDEAS” section for this month focuses on patterning using geometric figures. The sequentially planned activities help students discover the attributes—segments and angles—of various figures and how the figures can be combined to make a pattern; they then apply this information to the everyday world in such activities as making quilts and tessellations (tiling patterns). With the teacher's guidance, students develop the language needed to talk about their discoveries (definitions of less familiar terms are furnished in the Glossary): thus they will be able to communicate mathematically about geometric figures and patterning. The parent-child activity reinforces the school activity. Parents are invited to help students look for patterns in their community and share their findings with their child's class.

The “IDEAS” section for this month focuses on connections between mathematics and environmental concerns. The activities were designed to make students aware of various materials that people ordinarily use and discard, to increase their knowledge of the numbers of materials that people use, and to make plans to use marerials more conservatively. Plans may include reducing materials used, reusing materials, or recycling them. Each activity includes gathering, graphing, and interpreting data, thus extending opportunities for communicating, reasoning, and problem solving. Each activity features ideas to share with classmates or family members. These activities' investigative approaches are recommended in the Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics (NCTM 1989). Discussing the environment connects school life to everyday life. Most students want to make a difference in saving the earth, and the activities in “IDEAS” can help them get a start or extend their efforts in this appealing and important area.

Although inclusive education has become a global norm, it cannot be said that there is a universal definition of it. Namely, the ideas of what inclusive education is are formed in a local context under the influence of societal, political, economic and cultural forces. This is confirmed also by results of the research the subject of which was examination of perceptions of inclusive school formed in the Slovak socio-cultural context. The aim of the research was to find out how education actors (teachers, school headmasters, teaching assistants, specialists providing support to pupils, parents) think about the concept "inclusive school". For this purpose, the Q-methodology was used that produced eight various descriptions of inclusive school. They uncovered various contexts in which education actors´ ideas about inclusive school were formed. Some are wider, others refer to socio-cultural specifics of the country; others are more personal, reflecting personal experience, inner beliefs or even projected ideas and desires. The research shows that the pedagogical discourse about inclusive education in Slovakia is not only specific, but also internally variable. ABSTRACT:Philosophers often talk about and engage with ideas. Scientists, artists, and historians do, too. But what is an idea? In this paper, we first motivate the desire for an ontology of ideas before discussing what conditions a candidate ontology would have to satisfy to be minimally adequate. We then offer our own account of the ontology of ideas and consider various strategies for specifying the underlying metaphysics of the account. We conclude with a discussion of potential future work to be done on the ontology of ideas.

Despite its apparent simplicity, the idea of connectedness has significant effects on topology and its applications. An essential part of the intermediate-value theorem is the idea of connectedness. In many applications, such as population modeling, robotics motion planning, and geographic information systems, connectedness is significant, and it is a critical factor in differentiating between various topological spaces. This study uses soft open sets and the concept of soft ideals as a new class of soft sets to present and explore the ideas of soft connected spaces and strongly soft connected spaces with soft ideals. Also, under certain assumptions regarding the subsequent concepts—soft-ideal connectedness and stronglysoft-ideal connectedness in soft-ideal topological spaces—we characterize this new class of sets by employing soft open sets and soft ideals to examine its fundamental features. Furthermore, we look at a symmetry between our new notions and other existing ones, and this study examines the relationships between these concepts.

In the article the specifics of the system-diachronic approach to the analysis of the different conditions of socialization of the personality are discussed. It contains the research of social representations of young people about the world in various conditions of socialization. The prospects of studying of social ideas about the world in dependence on the conditions of socialization of the personality are shown. The nuclear components of the influence of the ideas of young people about the world areallocated and described. The significant differences of the ideas independence on the favorable/unfavorable conditions of socialization of young people are revealed. Such differences, apparently, become possible in compliance with the following factors: 1) the contradiction between the attitudes, stereotypes and real life; 2) loss of life perspective. The obtained data allow assuming that the main component of the designing of negative social ideas about the world is the offense of young people on the conditions of surrounding social reality. In light of ongoing concerns about the relevance of scholarly activities, we ask, what are public ideas and how do they come to be? More specifically, how do journalists and other mediators between the academy and the public use social science ideas? How do the various uses of these ideas develop over time and shape the public careers of these ideas? How do these processes help us understand public ideas and identify their various types? In addressing these questions, we make the case for a sociology of public social science. Using data from newspaper articles that engage with seven of the most publicly prominent social science ideas over the past 30 years, we make three contributions. First, we advance a pragmatic, cultural approach to understanding public ideas, one that emphasizes fit-making processes and applicative flexibility. Second, we define public ideas: social science ideas become public ideas when they are used as objects of interest (being the news), are used as interpretants (making sense of the news), and ebb and flow between these uses as part of an unfolding career. Third, we construct a typology of public ideas that provides an architecture for future research on public social science.

We present a multi-method design for elucidating young, mostly illiterate children’s (grades 1 and 2 of Swiss elementary school, ages 6–8) ideas about energy. The design uses semi-structured interviews and video recordings as the main methods of data generation and collection, respectively. A plurality of tasks, including drawing, sorting and a newly developed picture stories task, target core aspects of the scientific energy concept in selected contexts. These tasks provide various opportunities for the children to connect to their prior experiences and express ideas verbally and non-verbally in age-adequate ways, e.g., by gestures or drawings. We illustrate the level of detail and complexity of the children’s responses and show how these reflect the children’s associations with energy and their patterns of argumentation. These rich data enable analysis regarding various aspects of the scientific energy concept, including sources, users, forms, and the transfer of energy, and the identification of possible starting points for early energy instruction.

Ideologies in political discourse have been keen research topics as they provide various views of an issue or event. The prominent aspect of ideology is that it attempts to bridge the political activism to the social world that reflects the authenticity of political figures. This study aims to compare the ideological notions in the political tweets of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak (henceforth, Najib) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi (henceforth, Modi) during the election campaigns. The discourse between both the political premiers are compared in relation to their active participation on Twitter in Asia. Data were collected over a period of 3 months during the election campaigns of both the countries which were from February to April 2013 in Malaysia and January to March 2014 in India. The study follows the qualitative research design by employing Fairclough’s three dimensional model in analyzing the lexical choices and the formation of ideas. The presence of various ideologies in the tweets portray the consensual power of the political leaders as the citizens accepts the former’s principles, ideologies and moral values. Hence, this study is significant because the study increases political awareness among citizens and provides insights on how language is employed by both leaders from different political coalition. Besides, this study produces knowledge that helps society to understand how 140 character can be a powerful tool in disseminating ideas during national elections and making election a success.

When trying to understand purity practices and conceptions of impurity, which often seem enigmatic, scholars construe “explanations” on very different levels and frequently do not distinguish clearly between cause and effect. In the present article, I seek to disentangle various levels or types of explanation, ranging from evolutionary and historical, through cognitive and social, to structuralist and symbolic. While many attempts to explain impurity look for origins, reasons, or at least backgrounds, others rather aim at the results, or functions, of various ideas and practices of purity. Some explanations focus on analogies and correspondences, even treating purity codes as object lessons or illustrations of beliefs. Several explanatory models are frequently used for claims at levels to which they do not belong. Special critique is directed against the misuse of functionalist, structuralist, and symbolic models beyond their validity at a certain level of reception, for arguing or implying more than they can actually accommodate. The usefulness and integration of biopsychological and cognitive linguistic models for solving certain key questions without imposing ideological superstructures is argued.

New directions in the study of cell death reflect the trends in the development of molecular biology and pharmacology in such areas as cytoprotection, oncology, and reparative medicine. We provide the data concerning the reversibility at a certain stage of changes caused by the induction of apoptosis in cell culture which characterizes a special process known as anastase as a mechanism for restoring the functional activity and structure of cells at early stages of programmed cell death caused by inducing impact.

Abstract In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, at a time when administrations in various countries set up new school systems or considered reforming existing ones, world exhibitions offered the ideal opportunity for the transnational exchange of knowledge and ideas. This article demonstrates both the impact of ideological views and individual actors on the circulation, adaptation, and dismissal of cross-border ideas and the impact of innovations on their views and actions. As such, it contributes both to our understanding of world exhibitions as mediators of educational reform and to the existing scholarship on the history of educational technology.

The benefits of ideation for both industry and academia alike have been outlined by countless studies, leading to research into various approaches attempting to add new ideation methods or examine how the quality of the ideas and solutions created can be measured. Although AI-based approaches are being researched, there is no attempt to provide the ideation participants with information that inspire new ideas and solutions in real time. Our proposal presents a novel and intuitive approach that supports users in real time by providing them with relevant information as they conduct ideation. By analyzing their ideas within the respective ideation sessions, our approach recommends items of interest with high contextual similarity to the proposed ideas, allowing users to skim through, for example, publications and inspire new ideas quickly. The recommendations also evolve in real time. As more ideas are written during the ideation session, the recommendations become more precise. This real-time approach is instantiated with various ideation methods as a proof of concept, and various models are evaluated and compared to identify the best model for working with ideas.

Apart various fields of teaching, such metaphysics, theology, ethics, psychology, pedagogy, State system, which result from this creation, art and poetry could not go without being included as well (including the music). Otherwise, the Plato himself, in young age, except with mathematics he also dealt with poetry by believing that he is going to be more dedicated to it. But, it seems that acquaintance with the Socrates since he was 20 years old changed his mind and he was fully committed to the philosophy. His general philosophical reviews sublimating his philosophical ideas, which arise on the basis of the idea, as an alpha and omega of every human been in the world, took Plato away from poetry by making him more and more torrential in philosophy and more and more critical, even more cynical towards the poetry. The paper presents the results of a study conducted in 2021 of perceptions of trust in interethnic relations of representatives of various ethnic groups of a multicultural region. The purpose of the study was to examine the components of trust of ethnophores, to identify ideas about the factors affecting interethnic trust. The study used the authors methodology to assess the structure of ideas about interethnic trust, trust factors, as well as revealing the self-assessment of the ability to trust in interethnic relations. Respondents were offered a modification of the methodology Unfinished Sentences by Sachs Levy in the authors modification, reflecting the respondents understanding of the interethnic aspect of trust and the degree of trusting relationships to individual ethnic groups. When analyzing the features of the ideas of interethnic trust, the methodological development of the assessment of the structure of the ideas of trust was used by M.M. Borisova, S.D. Gurieva. The Students t-test was used in the study to determine the statistical significance of differences in average values. The sample consisted of 418 respondents, representatives of ethnic groups of Ossetians, Russians, Chechens, Kabardians, Georgians who live in the territory of the North Caucasus Federal District of the Russian Federation (Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Chechen Republic and Kabardino-Balkarian Republic). The study involved two age groups: the first respondents from 16 to 25 years old; the second respondents over 25 years old. The results of our study showed that the cognitive component in the structure of perceptions of trust prevails throughout the sample of subjects, regardless of age and ethnicity. As factors influencing interethnic trust, respondents identified: personal qualities of ethnophores, behavioral characteristics, the history of relations between peoples, social environment, knowledge about other peoples, the state, as well as the media.

Ukrainian parliamentarism and constitutionalism have a long history. Its brightest episode occurred 100 years ago, in 1917–1921, when the Ukrainian activists tried to cope with the breakup of the Romanov Empire by suggesting various projects of its reconstruction. In this article, I argue that the history of these projects began at least half a century earlier, when a young professor of history at Kiev University, Mykhailo Drahomanov, started to reflect upon future reorganization of the Russian Empire into a parliamentary state. Being an ardent advocate of turning the empire into a representative democracy, Drahomanov still felt uneasy about unapologetic support of parliamentarism. Having embraced Proudhonian idea of anarchy or self-government, he realized that the existence of parliament was not a universal cure for all political ills of the Russian Empire, especially for the main one—extreme state centralization. Hence, his views of political reconstruction of the empire did not necessarily mean transforming it into the Russian Republic. It seems that a reasonable and reasoned monarch, who could turn the empire into a federal state with a wide local self-government, would totally fulfill Drahomanov’s ideas of future Russia. His enormous influence upon the pre-war Ukrainian intellectuals explains why only few of them seriously discussed an idea of Ukrainian state independence in 1917.

Purpose – The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how the author's library was able to enhance the collaborative learning and teaching environment, with secondary goals to improve teaching effectiveness and increase sharing among librarians of ideas and techniques used in first-year student sessions. Design/methodology/approach – This paper describes the various measures of assessment (peer-to-peer, student feedback and self-reflection) that the College of St Benedict (CSB) and St John's University (SJU) Libraries implemented in 2011. The methods were used to improve teaching by listening to peers, getting feedback from students, and by also doing self-reflection. Many librarians were able to make changes that were beneficial to their teaching sessions. Findings – The outcome allowed librarians to incorporate new ideas into their own instruction sessions; re-evaluate teaching methods based on student feedback; and, to realize that self-assessment was beneficial. More importantly, it led to the development of Learning Goals for First Year Students. Originality/value – This is a significant contribution to the field of librarianship due to the lack of publications on the observations of peers. Articles about peer-to-peer feedback for librarians whose employment duties entail library instruction were difficult to find. Much of the literature focuses on faculty (who are not librarians) who go through peer-to-peer observations for their tenure files. This article focuses not only on peer-to-peer feedback but student assessment of librarians and self-reflections.

Abstract A contentious feature in the thought of Arthur Schopenhauer is his account of the Platonic Ideas. This is no doubt evidenced by the scholarly literature where various difficulties have been identified in regards to this introduction, and often varying positions maintained. Within this essay, I offer a survey of the major debates surrounding this issue. Following this, I turn to a specific question related to Schopenhauer’s claim that his own account of the Platonic Ideas is authentic to the original views of Plato himself. I show that, excepting minor points of similarity, Schopenhauer’s account is quite inauthentic to that of Plato. Still more, drawing upon his distinction between abstract and intuitive knowledge, I offer an interpretation of the relationship between Genius and contemplation employing the concept of a “circle of signification”. Finally, I identify some difficulties in relation to Schopenhauer’s views.

Bharathiyar's poems can be credited with leading the trend of Tamil literature to a new dimension in the twentieth century. It was Bharathiyar's works that made the Tamil language, which was immersed in the luxuriant flavours of the small literary genres in the palaces of the small land kings, rise up with a new force towards a new direction. Bharathiyar's poems, which arose for the liberation of the land, shed light on various fields, like women's liberation, spiritual liberation, caste liberation, and social liberation. Mahakavi Bharathiyar's poems became a rallying cry against slavery. Bharathiyar's family background, life in the city of Kasi, and friendship with Sri Aurobindo were factors in Bharathiyar's Hinduism. The reason why Bharathiyar took the nickname Shaktidaasan was because of his great love for Shakthi worship. Thus, even though Shakthi was sung as the supreme deity, Bharathiyar became a great devotee of the Vaishnava deity Kannan by composing the great poem Kannan Paattu. Bharathiyar's concept is also a celebration of the higher ideals of Buddhist philosophy. Although many poems have been sung with involvement in the various religious practises of India, it is also possible to know that religious harmony thoughts such as "one is supreme and we are its people" are prevalent in Bharathiyar's poems. Thus, speaking and writing about the ideas of religious harmony found in Bharathiyar's poems is an unavoidable requisite in today's environment. In this way, the ideas of religious harmony found in Bharathiyar poems are the foundation for the formation of a cultured society with high religious tolerance.

In recent years, a number of researchers have agreed that ideas, along with material factors, contribute to the construction of any explanations for social transformations. At the same time, there is a stable and sharply opposite opinion that ideas in themselves are exclusively theoretically overloaded constructs that, in principle, mean little. An important remark is the instrumental role of ideas in overcoming the limited rationality of various actors, without recourse to which they would hardly have achieved the desired pragmatic effects of committed actions. This article is devoted to the applied meaning of ideas that are embodied in whole technologies for managing social processes. The importance of intellectual resources in the context of Postmodernity has been substantiated. It is shown what modern technologies of social management are. Revealed the place of ideal elements in the structure of process management. In the logic of the author's approach, examples of the distribution of ideas from genesis to their practical implementation in various spheres of public life are considered. Clarified the innovativeness of ideas to which actors are permanently referring. The state of manipulative practices that powerful subjects are forced to resort to has been updated. A classification of ideas defining the conceptual foundations of alternative utilitarian actions is given. In conclusion, the main findings are summarized and the results of the study are summed up.

This paper discusses and compares two concepts of text and modes of interpretation: the postmodern and the rabbinic. The primary focus is on this phenomenon which we call literary postmodernism which has been discussed, criticized and praised, from an increasing number of perspectives over the past few decades&&but which we still, for various reasons, cannot quite define. It is generally regarded as an undermining of the conventions of our literary tradition, and perceived as an innovation in modern culture&&though we still disagree about when it began and certainly about where it is taking us. It is often presented as a new way of looking at narrative mechanisms which have been forgotten or suppressed in out literary canon. My proposition, however, is that the postmodern phenomenon is not a new way of reading and writing: It is a way of seeing which in several respects resembles ancient rabbinic modes of interpretation so closely that we may begin to consider it as old ideas in a new setting.

The cause of 75% of all implantation failures is impaired endometrial receptivity. Most of the implantation window markers studied are regulated by estradiol and progestrone. Steroid hormones are involved in the binding of molecular makers to specific nuclear receptors and any disturbance in steroid receptor expression can lead to impaired endometrial morphofunctional properties and receptivity. There are three levels of receptivity: genetic, proteomic, and morphological. According to genetic studies, during the implantation window period, there is a 10-fold increase in the expression of about 395 genes in parallel with a decrease in the expression of other 186 genes, various proteases, cell adhesion molecules and matrix proteins. Proteomic markers that affect endometrial receptivity include various growth factors, cytokines, cell adhesion molecules, and integrins. One of the main markers of the morphological level of receptivity is the pinopodia. Over the past 20 years, a large number of molecular markers of endometrial receptivity have been studied and the understanding of implantation mechanisms has expanded. But, despite this, no ideal marker for the assessment of endometrial receptivity in impaired fertility has been found. For the most accurate and effective diagnosis and to reduce the incidence of early reproductive loss, it is necessary to investigate all three levels of endometrial receptivity.
