Streszczenie:
ABSTRACT: Quinoa, is renowned as a grain of the 21st century in lieu of its capacity to withstand any climatic condition, its potential health benefits and exceptional nutritional value. Breakfast is the important meal of the day, which is skipped most often by most of the people. This study is framed with the objective of developing breakfast foods from the highly nutritious food grain like quinoa. As, Chapati and bars are easier to prepare and consume, the study aims at developing high-quality, convenient foods products by incorporating quinoa flour and quinoa flakes. The processed quinoa flour and flakes was substituted into the wheat flour and rice flakes in the proportion of 25, 50 & 75% to prepare chapati and bars of different variations namely variation1 (25Q:75W), variation2 (50Q:50W) and variation3 (75Q:25W). All the variations were analysed for physical characteristics, and organoleptic attributes like colour, appearance, mouth feel, texture, flavour, taste and overall acceptability was assessed by 30 panelist using a 9-point hedonic rating scale. The statistical analysis by Duncan’s test and ANOVA showed significant difference (p<0.05) in all the developed variations, when compared with control foods. The most accepted variation was subjected to nutrient analysis. The study report concludes that on comparing with control the presence of macronutrients such as protein and dietary fibre, micronutrients such as calcium, iron, phytochemicals like flavonoids (particularly quercetin, kaempferol and epigallocatechin) were found to be higher in variation 3 of the developed products (chapati and bars). Since quinoa is a gluten free food it can be given to celiac people, their high nutritious and dietary quality meets the demands of the food industry and consumers.

Streszczenie:
A high accuracy blade manufacture variation decomposition method was proposed to decompose the manufacture variations of compressor blades to systematic variation and non-systematic variation, which could help to clearly quantify the statistical characteristics of the effect of manufacture variations on the blade aerodynamic performance and to guide the modeling of manufacture variations in geometric uncertainty quantification and robust design studies. By conducting the decomposition of manufacture variations with 100 newly manufactured blades of a high-pressure compressor, it was found that the systematic variation could be modeled by using seven representative blade geometry design parameters well and the mean value of the non-systematic variation, which is determined by using the difference between the measured blade and systematically reconstructed blade, is close to zero. For the standard deviation of decomposed manufacture variations, the non-systematic variation accounts for about 40% of the whole, indicating that the systematic variation is the major component of the manufacture variation. However, based on statistical analysis and sensitivity analysis of the effects of the two types of manufacture variations on blade aerodynamic performance, it was found that the mean deviation of the blade loss mainly derives from systematic variations, and the loss dispersion caused by non-systematic variations is significantly greater than that caused by systematic variations. Furthermore, the blade loss at the high incidence angle is most sensitive to the inlet metal angle which belongs to the systematic variation. Meanwhile, the non-systematic variation near the leading-edge is the most sensitive, and it contributes to most of the performance disperse but only accounts for a geometric variation of about 0.45%.

Streszczenie:
The concentration of biomolecules in living systems shows numerous systematic and random variations. Systematic variations can be classified based on the frequency of variations as ultradian (<24 h), circadian (approximately 24 h), and infradian (>24 h), which are partly predictable. Random biological variations are known as between-subject biological variations that are the variations among the set points of an analyte from different individuals and within-subject biological variation, which is the variation of the analyte around individuals’ set points. The random biological variation cannot be predicted but can be estimated using appropriate measurement and statistical procedures. Physiological rhythms and random biological variation of the analytes could be considered the essential elements of predictive, preventive, and particularly personalized laboratory medicine. This systematic review aims to summarize research that have been done about the types of physiological rhythms, biological variations, and their effects on laboratory tests. We have searched the PubMed and Web of Science databases for biological variation and physiological rhythm articles in English without time restrictions with the terms “Biological variation, Within-subject biological variation, Between-subject biological variation, Physiological rhythms, Ultradian rhythms, Circadian rhythm, Infradian rhythms”. It was concluded that, for effective management of predicting, preventing, and personalizing medicine, which is based on the safe and valid interpretation of patients’ laboratory test results, both physiological rhythms and biological variation of the measurands should be considered simultaneously.

Summary In this paper, it is intended to put a spotlight on some of the more interesting sections of the Coffin Texts, originating from human error, visible in the variation between the witnesses. Besides showing the sections of text with these variations, explanations are provided on how the distinct variations could have occurred. For this paper, three topics of variation will be discussed: Variation due to errors caught by the scribes, variation due to redaction, by replacing pronouns with the name of the owner or changing double columns into singular columns or by abbreviating sections of text and finally variations due to homophony.

A new state space model of multi-operational machining processes is presented for dimensional variation propagation, transformation and accumulation based on perturbation vectors (PV). Taking perturbation vectors (PV) for state vectors of part geometric variaton and the fixture variations for input vectors, the perturbation homogeneous transformation (PHT) is applied to analyze and derivate datum-induced deviation, re-location deviation, fixture error and machining error, and a state space model of variation propagation in multi-operational complicated machining processes is developed. Furthermore, a three-operation machining process of cylinder is given to illustrate the method presented. With the results of calculation and simulation, it is verified that the proposed model is effective and useful.

Streszczenie:
KBG syndrome (KBGS) is a rare autosomal dominant inherited disease that involves multiple systems and is associated with variations in the ankyrin repeat domain 11 (ANKRD11) gene. We report the clinical and genetic data for 13 Chinese KBGS patients diagnosed by genetic testing and retrospectively analyse the genotypes and phenotypes of previously reported KBGS patients. The 13 patients in this study had heterozygous variations in the ANKRD11 gene, including seven frameshift variations, three nonsense variations, and three missense variations. They carried 11 variation sites, of which eight were previously unreported. The clinical phenotype analysis of these 13 patients and 240 previously reported patients showed that the occurrence rates of craniofacial anomalies, dental anomalies, global developmental delays, intellectual disability/learning difficulties, limb anomalies, and behavioural anomalies were >70%. The occurrence rates of short stature, delayed bone age, and spinal vertebral body anomalies were >50%. The frequency of global developmental delays and intellectual disability/learning difficulties in patients with truncated ANKRD11 gene variation was higher than that in patients with missense variation in the ANKRD11 gene (p < 0.05). Collectively, this study reported the genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of the largest sample of KBGS patients from China and discovered eight new ANKRD11 gene variations, which enriched the variation spectrum of the ANKRD11 gene. Variation in the ANKRD11 gene mainly caused craniofacial anomalies, growth and developmental anomalies, skeletal system anomalies, and nervous system anomalies. Truncated variation in the ANKRD11 gene is more likely to lead to global growth retardation and intellectual disability/learning difficulties than missense variation in ANKRD11.

This study aimed at showing tendencies of phonological variation in Kῖῖkamba livestock bargaining register. The study applied variationist theory by Labov (1972). Accordingly, a mixed research design was adopted. The findings of the study showed that phonological variation exists within the Kῖῖkamba dialects and that such variations are geographically distributed. The results revealed variations that are regionally distributed. Thus, phonological variation in livestock bargaining register is a geographic dimension. The study revealed that phonological variation occurs in some words and that the words varied in sounds in three Kikamba dialects which are the Kĩmasakũ, Kĩkĩtui and Kĩkĩlũngũ dialects.

All the currently available interspecific scented cyclamen were bred by crossing Cyclamen persicum with only a wild species, C.purpurascens. To develop cyclamen with a wider variety of fragrances, we clarified the diversity of volatile compounds emitted from the flowers of 17 wild cyclamen species. We found that 14 of the wild species emitted fragrant compounds. In particular, C. pseudibericum, C. cyprium, C. libanoticum, C. purpurascens, C. cilicium and C. alpinum emitted floral compounds, and C. mirabile emitted fruity compounds. We produced interspecific hybrids between two C. persicum cultivars and C. purpurascens (which emitted the greatest number of volatile compounds) and analysed the scent characteristics of the resulting hybrids. We found that the hybrids varied in scent characteristics, even when the same parents were crossed; for example, we obtained hybrids with various proportions of citronellol, nerol and geraniol and various ratios of floral-scented and fruity-scented compounds.

An experiment was conducted with maize for silage as a main irrigation culture in the experimental field of the Agricultural Institute - Stara Zagora. The following variations have been tested: variation 1 - no irrigation (sentinel); variation 2 - optimal irrigation, 80%-85% of FC (100% irrigation); variation 3 - Irrigation as variation 2 but with first irrigation cancelled; variation 4 - irrigation as variation 2 but with second irrigation cancelled; variation 5 - irrigation as variation 2, but with third irrigation cancelled. On the basis of a chemical analysis of the sudangrass forage for the raw protein content, FUM, FUG and PDI were defined. It was found that the highest yield of raw maize protein grown as the main crop was obtained from the optimal irrigation variation, both in the non-fertilized and the fertilized variation, respectively with 1023.5 kg / ha and 1303.5 kg / ha. The optimal water supply of maize provides the highest energy efficiency of the forage expressed in FUM -15022.8 kg / ha, FUG -15584.4 kg / da, PDI - 1060 kg / ha for non fertilized variations and FUM -16873.5 kg / ha, FUG -17516.3 kg / ha, PDI-1219 kg / ha with fertilizer applied.

Streszczenie:
The effect of random variations in layer properties of a pavement-subgrade system on surface deflections is investigated. This is done by using a stochastic finite-element framework based on the perturbation method. The Taylor's expansion scheme is used. The variations of the surface deflections are related to the variations of layer moduli via a coefficient matrix, thereby allowing an investigation of the sensitivity of measured deflections to the variation of pavement and subgrade moduli. The analyses confirm that surface deflections are not very sensitive to variations of modulus within the pavement structure. Using the Boussinesq-Odemark approximation, it is concluded that, for the sample problem analyzed, the effect of higher-order terms on variation estimates of displacement is negligible when the coefficient of variation of subgrade modulus is less than 15 percent. The effect of inertia on the coefficient of variation of displacement due to variations in layer moduli is also briefly addressed. It is demonstrated that the variation in displacement under the load is sensitive to both the loading frequency and the equivalent mass of the pavement-subgrade system, particularly in the vicinity of the natural frequency of the system.

The variation in population density in a corn crop can positively, negatively or neutrally affects plant productivity depending on the productive potential of the area. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of the variation in corn seed dosage on crop yield, and define from which percentage of variation the productivity of the sown line is affected negatively. The experiment was installed at FCAV-UNESP, in Jaboticabal (SP), Brazil. Twelve variations on plant population were evaluated, ranging from -27% to 27%, varying with a frequency of 4.5%. The morphological and productive characteristics of each treatment were evaluated through regression analysis. Each 1% of negative variation on seed dosage was lost 1.06% in corn yield. Positive variations, however, presented changes that were 0 to -2.59%. Negative variations on seed dosage reduced corn productivity by up to 28%. The positive variation affects the productivity of the crop in a less accentuated way, with a reduction in productivity that reaches 2.59% in the largest variations and may even cause positive productivity results depending on the maximum potential of the area.

Streszczenie:
Positron lifetimes and microhardness have been measured as a function of the thermal fatigue cycle number N in 4Cr5MoSiV steel. It is found that with increasing N: (a) the positron lifetime parameters τ1, τ2, I1, I2 and ôτ and the microhardness parameter MH all exhibit quasi-periodic up-and-down variation; (b) these parameters have the same period of variation; and (c) the period of up-and-down variation becomes gradually longer. The variation of MH reveals that fatigue hardening and fatigue softening occur alternately in the process of thermal fatigue. The variations of positron lifetime parameters reveal variations of defects in the fatigued materials. These variations are attributed to microdeformation and dynamic recovery dominating alternately in the process of thermal fatigue.

Streszczenie:
Variable refrigerant flow type is a multi-split type air conditioner for multi-story buildings. The aim of this study getting obtains optimization placement of the condensing unit to inlet air temperature in a multi-story building using the CFD method. The simulation was conducted from the 11th to the 30th floor. There are three variations of condensing unit position on each floor (Variation 1), on every two floors (Variation 2), and on the roof (variation 3). The result of the first variation is 35.32 °C, with the difference between the highest and lowest is 3.9 °C. The average temperature of the 2nd variation is 34.44 °C, with the difference between the highest and lowest being 0.92 °C. The average temperature of the 3rd variation is 36.65 °C, with the difference between the highest and lowest being 8.03 °C. Among the three variations, the 2nd variation of the condensing unit input air temperature is lower. Then the difference between the highest and lowest temperatures is not too far apart, indicating a more even distribution of air. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd variations condensing unit position do not exceed Panasonic VRF air conditioner operational temperature limit, which is 52 °C.

Streszczenie:
Marine diesel engine excitation can occur from the cycle-to-cycle variation in the engine output. The cycle-to-cycle variation in maximum cylinder pressure (Pmax) is often used to represent this variation. Earlier studies examined the correlation between the cycle-to-cycle variation in the maximum cylinder pressure (Ρmax), pressure impulse (PI) and ignition delay (ID) for the case of constant injection setting. This paper summarizes the results of systematic experiments to determine the cycle-to-cycle variations when the injection timing is changed. In these tests the cycle-to-cycle variations in the maximum cylinder pressure (Pmax), ignition delay (ID), and corresponding pressure impulse (PI) are examined for a single-cylinder test diesel engine at various speeds and compression ratios. Comparisons show that the cycle-to-cycle variations of the diesel engine power output are strongly affected by the injection timing. The best parameter for describing the cycle-to-cycle output variation is shown to depend on the specific engine test condition.

Streszczenie:
According to the sensory drive model, variation in visual properties can lead to diverse female preferences, which in turn results in a range of male nuptial colors by way of sexual selection. However, the cause of variation in visual properties and the mechanism by which variation drives female response to visual signals remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that both differences in the long-wavelength–sensitive 1 (LWS-1) opsin genotype and the light environment during rearing lead to variation in opsin gene expression. Opsin expression variation affects the visual sensitivity threshold to long wavelengths of light. Moreover, a behavioral assay using digitally modified video images showed that the expression of multiple opsin genes is positively correlated with the female responsiveness to images of males with luminous orange spots. The findings suggest that genetic polymorphisms and light environment in habitats induce variations in opsin gene expression levels. The variations may facilitate variations in visual sensitivity and female responsiveness to male body colors within and among populations.

Streszczenie:
Spatial and temporal variation in ecological environments may result in spatial and temporal variation in communities. Temporal studies of biodiversity are essential for forecasting future changes in community structure and ecosystem function. Therefore, determining the mechanisms that drive temporal change in communities remains an important and interesting challenge in ecology. We quantified spatial and temporal variations in carabid beetle communities and site-specific environmental factors for 5 years at nine study sites on three mountains in the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range, Korea. Carabid beetle communities exhibited significant temporal variation, which was larger than spatial variations between and within mountains. Environmental factors mostly varied between sites within mountains. Community variation was only weakly associated with environmental factors at wide scales, i.e., between sites on three mountains, but was strongly associated at narrow spatial scales, i.e., between sites within one mountain. Our results indicate that temporal variation in communities occurs in response to variations in the local climate, and that the patterns of temporal variation differ between mountains. Thus, temporal surveys of insect communities and climates at local scales are important for predicting temporal changes in the communities.
