Streszczenie:
The Malaysian education sector is one of the cornerstones in producing high-quality graduates that fulfill the needs of today’s industries. Hence, having civil servants can achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) is crucial to ensure Malaysia is at its forefront especially in the higher education sector. Nevertheless, theunclear settings of KPIs could deter the University’s staff understanding of their role in realizing the goals. Therefore, this study sets to measure the level of the University’s current performance. Additionally, this study will propose University’s key performance raking based on Balanced Scorecard approach. Theinstrument used is a questionnaire that distributed to the target sample who hold positions as head of department in the main campus at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). These groups of target respondents are believed those who should demonstrate a good understanding of Universities’ KPIs. The resultshows that the University is in high performance and the learning and growth perspective of balanced scorecard need to improvise. Thus, this study will lead to a better management system and produces a high University performance.

Miller, Patrick. "University Regulation of Student Speech: In Search of a Unified Mode of Analysis". Michigan Law Review, nr 116.7 (2018): 1317. http://dx.doi.org/10.36644/mlr.116.7.university.

Pełny tekst źródła
Streszczenie:
Universities are meant to be open marketplaces of ideas. This requires a commitment to both freedom of expression and inclusivity, two values that may conflict. When public universities seek to promote inclusivity by prohibiting or punishing speech that is protected by the First Amendment, courts must intervene to vindicate students’ rights. Currently, courts are split over the appropriate mode of analysis for reviewing public university regulation of student speech. This Note seeks to aid judicial review by clarifying the three existing approaches—public forum analysis, traditional categorical analysis, and a modified version of the Supreme Court’s education-specific speech doctrine—and proposes a more precise version of education-specific analysis. This Note proposes that when student speech may not be reasonably attributed to the school, any attempt by the university to regulate the content of student speech must be narrowly tailored to target only exclusionary speech and to protect core moral and political speech.

This study presents the experience of managing Berdyansk State Pedagogical University in the first year of a full-scale war. The purpose is to analyze the impact of management decisions on the performance indicators of the university in the conditions of temporary occupation and relocation to a new place. The relocation of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University (BSPU) to a safer territory enabled the resumption of educational activities in May 2022, after 53 days of functioning under occupation by russian troops. University staff decreased by 13%, with 57% moving to Ukraine-controlled territories and 43% remaining in the occupied zone. In addition, the student contingent decreased by 15%. The university’s scientific activity during the war decreased for only 9% in publication activity, and funding for science in 2023 increased by 379% compared to 2021. The university continued its third mission of social cooperation by providing humanitarian and psychological assistance and documenting the testimonies of people affected by the occupation. The university community currently exists in a virtual format, with staff and students in different parts of Ukraine and the world. The university must look to the future and overcome existing problems, such as preserving academic potential and student contingent, restoring electronic systems, and continuing pedagogical education. AcknowledgmentThis study was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (grants 0121U10942 and 0123U100110).We are grateful to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for providing the security necessary to conduct this analysis. This work would not have been possible without the perseverance and courage of the Ukrainian army.We also thank the entire team of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. Thanks to your perseverance, resilience, and unity, the university continues to operate for the development of Ukraine.

Introduction. One of the goals of youth policy in the Russian Federation is the formation of a system of moral and semantic guidelines that can allow us to resist the ideology of extremism, nationalism, manifestations of xenophobia, discrimination and other negative social phenomena. Under the FSES university graduates are required to be able to navigate the socio-political environment, to have their own worldview, ideals and humanistic values, to have the ability to self-develop. Therefore, the active phase of youth education should be continued today beyond school education – in higher education. This requires the reanimation of the educational potential of universities. The main task of educating students at the university falls on the shoulders of curators of academic groups and tutors. The aim of the article is to compare the educational roles of curators and tutors in higher education.Material and methods. The material of the study was dissertations and articles in pedagogical periodicals devoted to the study of the activities of curators and tutors of universities, as well as the results of the practical organization of the work of a team of curators in a technical university. The study used the method of contextual analysis of publications and the setting of a pedagogical experiment to identify the effectiveness of the educational work of curators of student groups. Results and discussion. This article compares the educational roles of curators and tutors in higher education. It is noted that unlike tutors, the professionogram of curators of academic groups is not legally defined, their official duties are regulated by local acts established by universities independently. Comparing the functional responsibilities of tutors and curators shows the commonality of their educational roles, both categories are mentors of young people, implementing informal transfer of knowledge and social experience, providing assistance in personal and professional development. It is determined that the curator of the academic group is an employee of the educational organization from the teaching staff, who provides tutor support and academic guidance to the student group, organizes the educational and extracurricular activities of students with the aim of adaptation, harmonious development, personal and professional development of each student. It is concluded that the full implementation of the activities of academic groups’ curators requires the creation of an appropriate system of organizational and methodological support for this activity, including psychological and pedagogical training of academic groups’ curators.Conclusion. It is concluded that for the full implementation of the activities of curators of academic groups at a technical university, it is necessary to create an appropriate system of organizational and methodological support for this activity, including the psychological and pedagogical training of curators.
