Streszczenie:
This research report presents the experience of Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (UNIMINUTO, the head office and the headquarter of Cundinamarca) on designing and implementing a meteorological measurement network. Initially, the meteorological stations were installed in urban environments (some headquarters of the university) and open spaces (farms of the university) in order to monitor variables that allow to know and understand the atmosphere behavior at high temporal resolutions. This article highlights the participation of some Colombian universities in the creation of environmental monitoring networks that contribute to the risk management associated with extreme weather events, as well as to the local and regional meteorological research and the academic and scientific dissemination. It is also analyzed social, academic and investigative impacts generated by the creation of automatic meteorological measurement networks. Furthermore, it is studied how these individual efforts facilitate and contribute to strength agreements with government institutions for environmental management purposes. At the end of this report, it can be found UNIMINUTO’s own experience formulating projects and researches to facilitate students and teachers’ learning process and contribute to strength the institutional research using high-quality and high temporal resolution climatological data.

The current research integrated Open educational resources —OER— in a general english course at Uniminuto, a private university located in Bogotá. The primary objective was to innovate the process of teaching English as a foreign language through the use of Open educational resources to develop speaking skills in students with a B1.1 level. As a result, it was possible to identify that the OER allowed students to improve the way they speak and communicate with others in English. Moreover, the resources helped the students to develop an autonomous learning style and improve their digital skills.

The present investigation analyzes the relationship between the self-regulation of learning and the personality characteristics of university students belonging to the Minuto de Dios University Corporation - UNIMINUTO of Bogotá - Colombia the sample consisted of 75 men and women between 18 and 45 years of age. From the application of the instruments: Gordon's personality profile and inventory (ancestry, responsibility, emotional stability, sociability, caution, originality, commitment, vitality, and self-esteem) and the self-report questionnaire - self-regulation of learning, the correlational analysis was carried out. Using Spearman's Rho (significance level p<0.05). The results suggest that students who know and apply learning self-regulation techniques tend to be dominant (ancestry) independent, so they take responsibility for their personal goals (commitment), emotionally stable, and friendly. On the other hand, students who are cautious, original, and oriented towards understanding others tend to give little importance or use, to a lesser extent, the use of self-regulated learning strategies.

This research sought to characterize consumers and consumption in the UNIMINUTO Agroecological Fair and the Minuto de Dios Solidarity Market, which both have a low number of consumers and sales. A survey was designed and implemented through a Google form and in person, between September and October 2019. The total sample was 146 consumers (90% reliability, 5% error). The results were analyzed through descriptive statistics and comparison with other studies. The consumer’s profile is mostly university students of natural sciences, young adults of low and low-middle income strata from small households, and women; the age, gender, and educational level are common features with similar studies. The consumer lacks knowledge about the products, the participatory certification, and pricing, which can be remedied through consumer education. The supply and quality of agroecological products must also be improved.

The dynamics and demands of contemporary society require increasingly tight adjustments concerning time, space, and human relationships. Maintaining a healthy balance among work, education, and leisure is necessary and challenging. In this scenario, distance education and information and communication technologies offer university-level training opportunities for those working in various contexts. In addition to time management challenges, finding leisure spaces that promote well-being presents another challenge. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the implications of simultaneously working and studying in leisure spaces and times, particularly focusing on students pursuing education through a distance-learning modality at the Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios-UNIMINUTO at a national level in Colombia. Methodologically, the study adopted a mixed research approach, utilizing a sequential explanatory design. Data were collected through questionnaires and the focus group technique. The analysis was based on categories such as serious leisure, casual leisure, digital leisure, and satisfaction with leisure. The quantitative component constituted a sample size of 455 students. The results revealed the characteristics of the leisure spaces within this population and the level of satisfaction with the limited leisure times and spaces available, given the peculiarity of working and studying concurrently. This satisfaction, whether derived from serious, casual, or digital leisure activities, correlated with the achieved well-being on personal and familial dimensions. Streszczenie:
The authors in this chapter describe the approach, purpose, and work of the International Research Center for the Development of Education (CIIDE per the acronym in Spanish) as an illustration of a glocanal internationalization effort involving research and flows of faculty and administrators between a non-elite university in the Global South and a research-intensive university in the Global North. CIIDE is a joint effort between the College of Education at the University of Missouri in the U.S. and the main campus of the Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (UNIMINUTO) in Bogotá, Colombia. In this chapter, first, the authors review the two theoretical lenses informing the analysis of the conceptualization and work of CIIDE, which are the glocanal agency heuristics developed by Marginson and Rhoades (2002) and the work of George Mwangi (2017) on mutuality in internationalization. Then, the authors present the actual work of CIIDE, including its origins and daily operations, followed by an analysis of CIIDE´s glocanal agency heuristics and mutuality.

The study aimed to examine the influence of user-education programmes on the information and study skills and competencies of first-year students at North–West University, Vaal Triangle Campus (VTC), in South Africa. The study adopted a quantitative approach and employed the case study method. The respondents consisted of 1,885 first-year students across two faculties with a sample size of 320, which were selected using the systematic sampling technique. The self-developed questionnaire was then distributed among the respondents. Out of 320, 266 students responded to the questionnaire, which produced a good response rate of 83%. The collected data were analysed using frequency and percentages and presented in tables and charts. The results revealed that a substantive number of first-year students never attended training on library use, including high school, public, college or any other academic libraries, prior to their arrival at the university. However, after attending the user-education programmes, they became independent users of the library and its resources, which was of great importance to lifelong learning and, thus, increased the usefulness of the library.

This article presents a case study exploring the remote learning experience of the Graphic Planning and Visual Creation classes of a journalism course offered at the Araguaia Campus of Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso, Brazil. This study focused on the second semester of 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the active learning methodology of the flipped classroom was employed in these classes. Using a qualitative and descriptive approach, we analyze the experience of teaching practical subjects — normally taught in person in university labs using specific software programs — in a remote setting without hampering the teaching–learning process. In this case study, the students and professors used Canva as an innovative learning method to effectively create high-quality advertising and journalistic works.

Streszczenie:
The challenge of fostering media and information literacy (MIL) is particularly significant in a society marked by the accelerated growth of fake news, digital noise, and information overload. This challenge is compounded by the new generation’s particular experience and use of media, platforms, and content. Therefore, it is crucial to promote new projects and initiatives that reinvent educational dynamics, types of content, and the role of young people. This chapter presents a comparative analysis of six MIL projects conducted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in Spain over the last 10 years, which combine gamification, experiential learning, and multimedia messages, to encourage young people to look at media critically. These initiatives have resulted from national and international calls and/or have been awarded different prizes and recognition in the fields of communication and education. The comparison of these six cases highlights young users’ recognition and persuasive capacity of learning dynamics based on escape rooms, educational video games, projectbased learning, exploration, and storytelling. The study concludes that MIL education requires increasingly innovative and unconventional proposals adapted to new media and platforms. It is crucial to develop these in collaborative lines of research between academia, the media, and other industry players.
