The role that trade logistics influence son volume and value of international trade and the extent to which poor quality logistics constitute a barrier to trade are determined. Analyzed various impacts of logistics quality, infrastructure and customs procedure son transportation costs. This study confirms strong impact of logistics quality on trade according the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index. Improvement the quality of logistics services is associated with trade growth and exports. Building capacity to connect to global logistic networks of firms, suppliers and consumers is a primary issue in development of international trade where predictability and reliability become even more important than costs.

The importance of efficient logistics for trade growth is widely acknowledged. Literature has shown that better logistics performance is strongly associated with trade expansion, export diversification, ability to attract foreign direct investments, and economic growth. On the other hand, international trade represents a challenge to logistic operations in transporting and storing products. High logistic costs and low quality of services may be considered obstacles to international trade. This research aims to assess Brazil’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in relation to its major competitors in international trade. The international trade data was collected from SECEX and COMTRADE, while the LPI was provided by the World Bank. Statistical techniques such as cluster analysis and multiple comparison tests of means have been applied to analyze the data. After using LPI index for the 39 competitors, it has been observed that Brazil occupies the 26th position in the rank of performers, behind South Africa, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The top performers are in general the leading exporters and importers worldwide (Germany, U.S.A., Japan and the Netherlands). Furthermore, they are the strongest competitors of Brazil in international trade. Thus, the competitiveness of Brazilian domestic firms depends crucially on a dynamic and competitive internal logistic environment in order to stand up to these countries. The results also indicate the bureaucracy as a major obstacle to the logistic performance of the country. The dimension Timeliness of Brazil is very close to the High Logistics Performance Group (HLPG) while Customs is very close to the Low Logistics Performance Group (LLPG). Although Brazil has failed in its customs operations, there seems to be more credibility in Brazilian dealings. The main contribution of this paper is to reveal logistical aspects in which Brazil has shown large inefficiencies. The difference among the logistic performance indexs also appears to be relevant to governments to address their new public policies and also to highlight the logistic obstacles of the Brazilian international trade.

The main purpose of the publication is the development of theoretical approaches, systematization of the results of analysis and definition of measures for the formation of logistic systems of trade enterpreneurship subjects (trade enterprises), which belong to the small business sector. The peculiarities of formation were identified and the problematic aspects of the modern stage of entrepreneurship development in Ukraine were identified. The existence of the logistic component in the general complex of the conduct of trading activity by the entrepreneurship subjects is determined. The essence and ratio of concepts «system of logistic» and «logistics system» of the enterprise are determined. The objective of the logistics system organization as a complex, economic and technical and technological system covering the logistics system of the enterprise is emphasized), personnel of the management services of the enterprise logistic activity, as well as legal, organizational,managerial and methodical principles of all these elements interaction of the system and its management, formed on the basis of the scientific and theoretical basis (theory) of logistics management. The peculiarities of the functioning of small business entities in Ukraine and the averaged parameters of commodity flows in this sector of economy are investigated, factors of logistic flows organization specificity formation in the retail segment, which influence the requirements for the creation and operation of trade enterprises logistic systems and the choice of approaches to them, are determined. The attention is drawn to the need to consider as the main factor in the formation of the trade complex system of logistic of operational and functional processes of logistics activities, which are carried out by a trading company in order to bring commodity flows to end buyers of goods. The necessity of determining the structure of the logistics system of the trading company is focused on taking into account the resources available from the dealer in order to create opportunities for organizational, economic, technical and technological interaction with other supply chain participants in which the given enterprise is involved, and simultaneously ensuring compliance of the goods sold with the requirements end buyers. The key directions of logistic activity improvement of enterprises of trade – subjects of small (and micro) entrepreneurship, which are connected with technical and technological and infrastructure improvements within the enterprise logistics system, introduction of modern management technologies in the logistics management subsystem and logistics administration, are grounded, as well as the use of outsourcing capabilities of logistics functions and operations and the use of modern communication tools for the radical change of trade technologies , which will be reflected in the requirements for organizing a complex of logistics activities of retailers and, accordingly, logistic systems created by them. The purpose of the research is to develop theoretical approaches, to systematize the results of the analysis of the essential characteristics and the composition of the trade company system of logistics, and to identify the main measures for the formation of the system of logistics of the subjects of trade enterprise (trade enterprises), which belong to the small business sector. Object of research – subjects of trade enterprise – trade enterprises, which belong to the small business sector. The subject of the study is theoretical and methodological principles of logistic activity organization and conceptual approaches to the construction of logistic formations in the conditions of integration processes. In accordance with the goal formulated, the main objectives of the study: • on the basis of analysis of the most common scientific theories to determine mechanisms for managing them; • to identify new approaches for identifying the essence of logistics, the content of logistics activities of trade enterprises and identify the actual problems of their construction; • to formulate a conceptual approach, basic principles and applied principles of organization of logistic formations with the participation of small business entities; • to develop scientific and practical recommendations on the construction of trade enterprises systems of logistics and their development taking into account the integration processes in the field of commodity circulation.

The paper investigates factors affecting logistics providers? satisfaction with HCMC logistic environment and then extend some remedies to enhance it. By using both quantitative and qualitative methods, the authors investigate 200 logistics providers operating in HCMC. The results show that the satisfaction with the logistic environment is affected by six factors: (1) the quality of trade- and transport-related infrastructure, (2) the ease of arranging competitively priced shipments, (3) the efficiency of the customs clearance process, (4) the ability to track and trace consignments, (5) the competence and quality of logistic services , and (6) the frequency with which shipments reach the consignee within the scheduled or expected delivery time.

The volume of international trade heavily depends on factors facilitating trade and contributing to reducing its costs. The importance of international logistics as trade facilitator is increasingly emphasised in the literature. The aim of the paper is to assess the level of the impact of logistics performance on trade volume in the Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs) and Western Balkans. In order to achieve the aim, the impact of Logistic Performance Index (LPI) on international trade in 2007 and 2018 is investigated. This relationship is examined using the gravity model approach with a focus on overall LPI and its components. The research results show that there is a positive statistical significance and impact of logistics on bilateral trade between CEECs, and logistics justifies the role of a trade facilitator. Besides, the importance of LPI components in intensifying international trade was emphasised. Research implications indicate that improving logistics performance and logistics services lead to a positive impact on the volume of international trade. Better logistics performance in trading countries will lead to increased bilateral trade and reduced trade costs. The limitation of the research is that only two years have been taken into account. This is done in order to highlight the differences between the year the LPI was introduced, and the last year the LPI was calculated.

Introduction. Trade enterprises aim to meet consumer demand and, as a result, make a profit. Uncertainty of the external environment and the presence of a number of different problems in the economic activity of trade enterprises necessitates a revision of approaches to the formation of trade and technological processes and their optimization based on the use of modern logistics tools. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to justify the need for the use of logistic tools in organizing trade and technological processes at trade enterprises, to identify the relevant stages of the implementation of logistics, the specificity of the main elements of the trading process. Methods. To establish and identify the constituent elements of trade and technological processes, the study used analytical empiricism with an emphasis on the logistic approach, which allows the formation of effective trading activities based on the optimization of logistic processes. The study used the method of assessment and generalization to develop and substantiate proposals aimed at the development of trading activities on a logistical basis. results. A conceptual approach to the introduction of logistics at trade enterprises has been formed taking into account the possibilities of optimizing the movement of goods based on high-quality information support for goods flows and their material and financial support. The study substantiates that the effective development of a trading company is possible by combining two important components of the process: a set of trading and technological processes, which are a totality of logistic operations for selling goods to customers and management of trade and technological processes. The result of the study is also the authentication of the stages of the formation of the logistics system and the development of the trading company, creating opportunities for the development of subsystems for managing its productivity, including through the use of modern information systems and platforms. Discussion. In this context, perspective direction of further research is the development of methods of analysis of actual indicators, research of components of formation of information support of reengineering of trade and technological processes of trade enterprises with use of modern software products and their resource potential.

Services have a direct impact on the competitiveness of the goods sector. This article illustrates the importance of logistics services, their trade dimension and how regulatory issues act as perhaps one of the most significant barriers to competitiveness. The article discusses recent developments and the role and benefits of logistics services and argues that from a trade agreement standpoint, logistics is a network industry that ultimately provides one service to a final client. It analyses logistics services from a services trade perspective and proposes that trade agreements should ensure access to and use of the infrastructure required to provide these services recognizing their interconnectedness. The article offers suggestions on additional policies World Trade Organization (WTO) members, and countries negotiating services agreements regionally or bilaterally, could follow in order to fully exploit the opportunities provided by logistics services. Local regulations and complementary policies in areas such as trade facilitation will always remain important.

Subject of study. Logistics processes in the activities of trade enterprises in the conditions of European integration are considered. The purpose of the study. The purpose of the article is to study the logistics processes in the activities of Ukrainian trade enterprises entering the markets of the EU in the context of significant global changes. © Наталія Володимирівна Лагодієнко, Лариса Борисівна Скляр, 2021 Research methods. The methodological basis of the study is the position of theories of enterprise economics, trade, logistics, strategic management, systems and economic growth in the context of European integration, as well as system and structural analysis. Results. The peculiarities of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the European Union are outlined. The necessity of logistic strategies formation in trade enterprises is substantiated. The structure of foreign trade in goods and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on it, as well as the dynamics of exports and imports of goods are analyzed. The basic principles of logistics in the activity of trade enterprises entering the EU markets are determined. The basic scheme of logistic functional branches is formed. The key logistic concepts of trade enterprises are substantiated. Possibilities of solving optimization problems in the field of logistics in trade enterprises entering the markets of the European Union are considered and calculated. The formed sales channel should have developed both logistic, and marketing strategy. Next, the distribution policy is the sales method, commercial service and delivery service. There are relationships between these elements. The method of sale differs depending on whether they connect the seller directly or indirectly with the final recipient and which companies are involved. By choosing a distribution channel, the company decides which tasks it will perform and which will be transferred to independent market partners. Conclusions. This model is an integer linear programming of the transport type and has a similarity to the transport problem, which allows it to be solved by the method of potentials. The use of these models will help optimize the strategic directions of export activities for trade enterprises. Automobile Trade Logistics Park is one of the most important industrial zones for specific automobile trade and distribution in auto industry cities. The development control of physical spatial planning has a profound effect on the construction and operation of Automobile Trade Logistics Park. Three factors, including advantages of transportation, geographic features and industrial cluster, influencing the location of Logistics Park are discussed. The scales of automobile trade spaces built recent years in China are compared. Analyzing dual function of commerce and distribution, facilities in Automobile Trade Logistics Park are summarized. According to the arrangement of land use and spatial structure, development intensity of different space types for auto trade is proposed. The final section of this article examines the experience in Regulatory Plan of Auto Parts Logistics Center in TAIAN Hi-tech Industry Development Zone.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of logistics efficiency in RCEP signatory countries on Korea’s trade. In particular, after analyzing the effects of individual indicators of the logistics performance index (LPI) on trade, policy implications are drawn based on the results. Design/Methodology/Approach - In order to analyze the effect of logistics efficiency in RCEP countries on Korea’s trade, the independent variables of the gravity model included GDP, population, distance, and LPI. For detailed analysis, in addition to the LPI, the individual indicators of LPI are input to the independent variable for analysis. This study adopts varying coefficient models, the random effects model and fixed effects model, in order to more effectively analyze unobservable factors in the panel data. Findings - The empirical evidence using the gravity model showed that the coefficient of LPI was about 1.7 and statistically significant at the 1% level of significance. In other words, if the logistics efficiency of the RCEP signatory country increases by 1%, when other variables are constant, Korea’s trade volume increases by about 1.7%. As a result of analyzing the effect of LPI’s individual indicators on trade, it was found that the five individual indicators of logistics infrastructure, international shipment, logistics service, timeliness, and goods tracking affect trade. On the other hand, the clearance index was not statistically significant at any significance level. Research Implications - It was confirmed that the logistics efficiency of RCEP signatory countries is important for Korea’s trade facilitation. In other words, if not only Korea’s logistics efficiency but also the logistics efficiency of the RCEP signatory countries are improved, the facilitation of trade between the two countries can be achieved. To this end, it is necessary to reduce the logistics cost through the establishment of the logistics infrastructure, and it is also necessary to make efforts to increase logistics efficiency.

Countries will be able to determine the degree of logistics performance input components to provide the logistics output components, and countries will be able to reveal which logistics input components should be carried out to provide output components. This situation enables countries to make sense of their contributions to the global economy and global trade. In this context, the relationship structure between logistics performance input components and logistics performance output components over the values of Logistic Performance Index (LPI) components of the countries in 2018, 2016, 2014, 2012 and 2010 LPI reports has been predicted with Artificial Neural Networks. According to the findings, the predictive values of contribution to the affective structure of the input components were listed as infrastructure, customs and service quality, and the predictive values of contribution to the influence structure of the output components as timeliness, international shipments and tracking and trace. As a result of the findings, it was found that the independent variables included in the analysis have quite high predictive power for dependent variables. Finally, the significance and normalized significance estimation significance values of the independent variables are listed as infrastructure, service quality and customs. In the study, it was observed that the contribution predictions of customs and service quality logistic input components to the structure of affecting the logistic output components were less than the infrastructure component. Therefore, it has been concluded that countries should carry out activities that will provide logistics performance output components of service quality and customs components in order to increase their own logistics performance and to contribute more to the global economy and trade.

It identifies the main elements and proposes a system of indicators for assessing the organizational and economic logistics activities support of a trade enterprise. The research presents the sequence of determination of directions and tools for improvement of the organizational and economic logistics activities support of a trade enterprise. Purpose. The article aims to study the methodological principles of problem diagnostics and to determine the directions of improvement of the organizational and economic logistics activities support of a trade enterprise. Method (methodology) The methods of system and structural analysis, method of causative analysis, method synthesis and the relational method have been used in this research. On the basis of these methods the directions of the improvement of the organizational and economic logistics activities support of a trade enterprise are proposed. Results. In the conducted research the problem zones of organizational and economic support according to the main elements have been determined. The grouping of measures and tools for improvement of organizational and economic support of logistic activity while taking into account the criteria of operational efficiency has been done. The degree of coverage of the problem areas has been defined. The positive changes in logistics activities of the trade enterprise have been determined.

Seaports are fundamentally connectivity points in the global economic system, especially container ports, which are supportive and well-connected to major global trade routes. Regular and dependable services from shipping are critical to lowering the costs of trade, particularly transportation expenses, integrating supply chains, and enabling global trade. For Nigeria, trade costs seem to be an impediment to international trade development, and improving trade logistics performance is crucial to enhancing nations' trade acceptability. Field surveys were conducted in some selected seaports and outward environments, and hypotheses were examined in order to assess the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of the ports' facilities and activities. The result revealed that logistics costs, customs effectiveness, quality of infrastructure, government policies, and logistics service deliveries have significant effects on the development of seaborne trade in Nigeria. Therefore, institutional improvements will lower logistics costs, providing opportunities to expand seaborne trade, and benefit consumers worldwide through competitive freight costs.

Logistics performance of a country plays an important role within both economic and social developments. Therefore examining the relationship among the logistic performance, corruption and foreign trade volume of a country would contribute to the literature. Logistics Performance Index (LPI) has firstly been issued byWorld Bank in 2007 and continued in the years 2010, 2012, 2014. In this paper the mediator effect of Logistics Performance Index (LPI) on the relation between Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and Foreign Trade Volume (FTV) analyzed for the years 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014. The hierarchical regression analysis method was used in order to determine the mediator effect. As per the analysis results, the mediator effect of LPI on the relation between CPI and FTV is statistically significant. Consequently it could be suggested that the logistics ability of a country trigger the relation between corruption and foreign trade volume.

Abstract Trade facilitation promotes increased opportunities to participate in international trade. Current research has mainly analyzed the impacts of tariff-related and trade barriers. Nevertheless, as trade policies shift toward removing non-tariff barriers, studies addressing core elements become relevant, requiring a more systemic view at a simultaneous level. The study proposes that transportation infrastructure (i.e., roads, seaports, railroads, and airports) and logistics are core elements supporting trade facilitation efforts at the local level. The study provides empirical evidence on the direct and indirect effects among transportation infrastructure, logistics, trade facilitation, and trade. Partial least squares–structural equation modeling is the main empirical method employed to examine the interrelationship of the quality of transportation infrastructure, logistics, trade facilitation, and trade using a sample of 80 countries for the years 2012, 2014, and 2016. There is a large direct effect of transportation infrastructure on trade facilitation and a vast direct effect on logistics. Logistics has a small direct effect on trade facilitation. I also conduct mediation analyses, which show that logistics has a larger effect on trade via trade facilitation than transportation infrastructure quality has. These findings suggest that trade facilitation implementation might not be enough to tackle current challenges and ongoing economic development. Governments should prioritize the integration of logistics stakeholders in the public sector to optimize the benefits of global networks. Thus, the significance of transportation infrastructure and logistics in trade should not be neglected, as the private sector (i.e., logistics providers) play a large and relevant role in practice.

The article considers the theoretical and methodological and practical principles of logistics processes management. Current trends in logistics development are outlined. It is shown that the trends demonstrate active implementation in the management processes of the elements of Logistics 4.0. The expediency of using economic-mathematical methods and models to solve logistics tasks is reasoned. An overview of ecommerce processes, typical for today, both in the world and in Ukraine, which directly cause changes in logistics, is made. The problem of optimization of transport costs for delivery of goods from the warehouses of the online store "Hope" to customers, taking into account the non-stationarity (seasonality) factor is defined. The economic-mathematical model of the problem of logistics processes management has been built and adapted as follows: selection of two seasonally-leased warehouses from five reserve ones and optimization of transport costs for delivery of goods from warehouses of the online store to customers. This optimization model was implemented to solve the problem of optimizing logistics costs for the online store "Hope", taking into account seasonal demand, transport tariffs, warehouses capacity and forecasted sales volumes. Various ways to solve the problem of logistics process management, which allows us to show the additional benefits of using these methods and determine the effectiveness of the decision taken are considered as well. The solution for the choice of warehouses and the optimal plan for delivery of goods to customers in order to minimize transportation costs is obtained. It is shown that with the use of economic and mathematical modeling to solve the problem of seasonally adaptive transition for logistics process management, it is possible to make the best choice of two additional leased warehouses from the five reserve ones, to find the optimal delivery plan, to reduce the total length of delivery route and, consequently, the costs of transportation of goods, to avoid shortages of goods in warehouses, in a timely manner and with minimal costs to satisfy the interests of customers of online store "Hope" goods. The economic interpretation of the results of the models implementation is presented and recommendations for their use are provided to achieve minimization of transportation costs, maximum flexibility, speed, reliability of the supply chain, ie to make effective management decisions.

In the process of port logistics outsourcing, because there are different throughput requirements of port logistics, there are inherent risks in logistics outsourcing companies, it cannot ensure the reasonableness of port logistics outsourcing. In this paper, a rationality analysis model of port trade logistics outsourcing based on analytic hierarchy process is proposed. Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process get different specification weights, and sort the importance degree of port trade logistics outsourcing risk, to create the hierarchical structure model of port trade logistics hierarchical assessment. The operating performance, cost performance and service performance and so on of port trade enterprises are made overall decomposition and analysis. Through the assignment make comparison operation to obtain the proportion of different schemes which should be accounted for in the overall target. Using analytic network process and customer rationality index model make accurate analysis of the rationality of hierarchical logistics outsourcing in port trade. The experimental results show that the coverage rate of logistics outsourcing, value of port trade and the effectiveness of the model under this kind of model is superior to the traditional model, and it achieves satisfactory results.

Motivated by concerns about the impact of trade and customs procedures upon humanitarian logistic operations, this article seeks to open a new chapter in the relevant literature. It builds on three case studies, each of which is a household name within the humanitarian space and has been developed with the support of key informants in those organizations. The analysis of the case studies shows how customs considerations impact upon the entire relief chain. A review of relevant literature and documents provides the necessary context. A list of recommendations, which have been identified in consultation with research participants and are based on established ideas in contemporary trade facilitation policy, is offered. Further dialogue between customs and humanitarian logistics practitioners is keenly encouraged.

ASEAN Countries members plus Japan, South Korea, and China (ASEAN+3’S) logistics performance play a significant role in maintaining and improving their export and import values, depending on the various commodities trade. Meanwhile, during uncertain situations today, the stakeholders need to enhance the capability of import and export activities to improve logistics performance. The study focused on the competitiveness of the manufacturing products traded by these countries. The study used panel data analysis based on the panel data of 11 years (2008-2018) from the 10 ASEAN+3 countries. Export value and Net Comparative Advantage (NCA) index (including net export and trade openness) were used as dependent variables in the two model studies, and logistics performance was the primary variable. The result shows that logistics performance positively affects the export and trade competitiveness models of ASEAN+3’s manufacturing products. The Logistics Performance Index (LPI) provides estimates that suggest that logistics performance has a significant impact on ASEAN + 3 export value (ExpM) and manufacturing trade competitiveness (NCAM). Meanwhile, there are different results of the effects of macroeconomic variables between the model of export value (ExpM) and the NCAM in the manufacturing in ASEAN+3’s. The ExpM model follows the theory that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) increase the competitive value in ASEAN+3 countries. Meanwhile, in the NCAM model, GDP and FDI reduce trade competitiveness because of the high value of ASEAN+3 manufacturing imports.

Unlike previous papers on international logistics and cross-border e-commerce trade, this paper sets Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries as an example to explore the dynamic interaction between international logistics and cross-border e-commerce trade. The panel data for the period 2000–2018 will be employed to perform an empirical analysis via a host of econometric techniques, such as panel unit root tests, panel cointegration tests, panel causality tests and the panel vector error correction model. Incorporating with other control variables, we find that there is a long-term relationship between international logistics and cross-border e-commerce trade. Specifically speaking, in the long-run, international logistics has a positive and significant effect on cross-border e-commerce trade. However, in the short-run, international logistics has a negative and significant effect on cross-border e-commerce trade. Furthermore, the results suggest that deviation from a cointegration system of cross-border e-commerce trade and international logistics will lead to the cross-border e-commerce trade and international logistics changing within the range of approximately 2.2% to 47.2% in the next period. Therefore, referring to these findings, each OECD country’s government should take up corresponding policies to ensure the sustainable development of both international logistics and cross-border e-commerce trade.

The paper introduces both intra- and extra-regional examples of the ways in which those challenges have been overcome in particular contexts through concerted action by government and the private sector. Findings – There are a lot of interesting experiences of overcoming logistics challenges, both inside and outside the Asia-Pacific region. Good practice experiences can be replicated by other countries in the region. Originality/value – While there have been a lot of discussions on logistics policy reforms, this paper is one of the first attempts that clearly link challenges with concrete case experiences where those are overcome. The paper discusses very practical issues in an analytically sound manner, using case method.

As a result of low level of development of logistics services in Ukraine and reduction of efficiency of logistics activity of trade enterprises the preconditions of development of logistics in trade are defined, expediency of research of changes of external environment is proved and the system of indicators reflecting a condition and dynamics of demand in the wholesale and retail market is proved. , the level of competition in the segment of trade enterprises. The expediency of considering logistics services with compliance with process-functional approaches, which allowed to define logistics activities as a set of processes for the implementation of functional tasks and management decisions, formed taking into account the goals of enterprises in the field of logistics. It is determined that the decisive tool of marketing and strategic means of improving competitive positions in the commodity market is customer service in the process of order fulfillment. It is noted that the improvement of service should take place throughout the logistics chain, harmonizing the relationship between technological components and elements of logistics systems. Green logistics has been a trend in the world. This research evaluates the impact of green logistics on international trade among APEC nations over the period of 9 years (2010 – 2018). The research uses an augmented gravity model to investigate the effects of green logistics on international trade through the Environmental Logistics Performance Index (ELPI). The results show that exporting countries applying green logistics increase the export volume to other members of APEC. In the long term, importing countries engaging in green logistics increase trade volume with green logistics countries in APEC. With the aim of enhancing international trade, APEC countries must improve domestic logistics performance. Through those analyses, research proposes several recommendations to encourage nations and enterprises to apply green logistics effectively.

The aim of the article is to determine the essence of the logistics potential of a foreign trade activity of a pharmaceutical enterprise and justify the methods for determining it. The materials used in the study include statistical data of the investigated pharmaceutical enterprises, namely JSC FF “Darnitsa”, PJSC NPC “Borschagovsky Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant”, PJSC “Pharmak”, LLC “FC Zdorovia” and JSC “Lekhim-Kharkiv”. The study used methods of analysis and synthesis, generalization, content analysis, questionnaires and methods for assessing potential. The questionnaire was used to select indicators that should be part of the logistics potential of a foreign trade activity of a pharmaceutical enterprise. The experts were 100 leading specialists of pharmaceutical companies. They are all involved in foreign economic activity. Experts are gender–divided into women (73 %), men (27 %); by age: up to 25 years – 8 %, 25–35 years – 14 %, 35–45 years – 27 %, 45–55 years – 36 %, over 55 years – 15 %; by experience: up to 5 years – 11 %, 5–10 years – 15 %, 10–20 years – 32 %, 20–30 years – 36 %, over 30 years – 6 %. The experts' conclusions are valid, the coefficient of concordance is 0.86, and the Pearson test exceeds the table value. The essence of the definition of "potential of logistics of pharmaceutical enterprise’s foreign trade activity" is investigated. The types of logistics potential of foreign economic activity and indicators that are appropriate to use for determining the level of development of the logistic potential in foreign economic activity are offered. The potential of logistics of foreign trade activities of pharmaceutical enterprises consists of the potentials of logistics in the field of export and import. The system of indicators for measuring the logistics potential of a foreign trade activity of a pharmaceutical enterprise contains indicators selected through content analysis and questionnaires. The method of estimation of logistics potential in foreign economic activity of pharmaceutical enterprise is offered.

Methods. We assess the reliability of four logistics chain types based on a simulation model developed in the GPSS software environment using the method of statistical testing. Results. Customs and logistics service users challenge entities in the transport service market with the task of performing foreign trade operations in compliance with the highest level of quality and service reliability minimizing the cost of delivery and shipping time. The proposed method allows determining the probability of timely delivery of goods in different transportation directions as well as the reliability of the studied process. Scientific novelty. The obtained simulation results will make it possible to work out proposals and recommendations for customs and logistics service users on the choice of an optimal logistics chain type, taking into account its impact on shipping time and reliability of goods delivery. Practical value. The practical value of the research is that the proposed method will allow foreign economic entities to form logistics chains, taking into account available resources and the need to use the services of other companies in international goods delivery. In this case, the efficiency of a logistics chain can be further assessed by the shipping time and reliability for export/import operations.

The signing of RCEP has created new opportunities for the development of China's export trade, and international logistics capacity is an important factor affecting the conduct of international trade. This paper qualitatively describes and analyzes the LPI index and its sub-indicators of RCEP member countries, and empirically investigates the impact of logistics performance level on China's export trade through an extended gravity model. The study shows that there are large differences in logistics performance levels among RCEP member countries, especially in South Asia, where the quality of logistics infrastructure and customs efficiency are the most lagging behind, which are the key factors pulling down the logistics performance index; the signing of RCEP has effectively promoted China's foreign trade level, but there are great differences in export amounts to different countries, and the logistics performance levels of importing countries and China's export trade are significant positive correlation, the improvement of logistics performance is conducive to promoting China's export trade to RCEP member countries, and from the viewpoint of logistics links, the role of logistics infrastructure quality is the strongest, and the influence of cargo transportation timeliness is the weakest.

The article argues that the inventory category is one of the most important categories of logistics, which determines the objective need to conduct a study of the problems of inventory management and the implementation of a logistics concept. The emphasis is placed on the fact that the object of logistics study are material and related information flows, which, according to the logistics concept, are coordinated and managed between the source of supply and the end user within a single system. The logistics system of a trading enterprise is considered in the form of the following main subsystems: purchase, production and marketing. It is proposed from a logistical point of view to consider not the processes of marketing, production and supply themselves, but the movement of flows that arises in these processes. In this regard, the article proposes the system of performance indicators of logistics management inventory of retail trade enterprises.

Transport infrastructure and logistics are gradually becoming important factors affecting global trade. At the same time, with the international logistics corridor along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) going deep into construction, China is emerging as a unique case to study how logistics affects international trade. Therefore, based on the evaluation index system of logistics development level of China’s provinces by using the entropy method, this paper systematically analyzed the impact of logistics development level on bilateral trade from 31 China’s provinces to 65 countries along the BRI by using the improved gravity model with data for the period 2008–2018. Empirical results show: (1) Logistics development level had significantly promoted international trade development. (2) Compared with partner countries, China’s provincial logistics development level presented a greater impact on bilateral trade. (3) Influence of logistics development level was manifested in different periods, different international and regions, especially, logistics development level coefficient of the western region was negative, while that in eastern region was positive. In view of the above research results, we argue that strengthening domestic and international logistics construction is not only conductive to the sustainable development of China’s future trade, but also help to realize the coordinated development between China’s eastern, central and western regions.

With the global industrial integration, trade exchanges between countries are becoming more and more frequent and the competition for related international trade logistics is becoming more and more intense. This paper aims to study the optimization design of international trade logistics based on Internet of Things technology. For this reason, this paper proposes an RFID method, through which it is possible to master a journey in the actual international trade logistics process. And it optimizes and improves its related paths, shortens the time delayed on the road, and achieves the purpose of mentioning the carrying capacity. And for the actual use effect, the relevant experiments and analysis parts are designed to simulate it. The experimental results of this paper show that the improved and optimized international trade logistics shortens the carrying time by 28.6% and increases the carrying capacity by 34.2%, which greatly promotes the development of the relevant international trade logistics industry.

Various risks and uncertainties are strengthening the downside of the global economy. This paper aims to estimate the impact of the US–China conflict and the World Trade Organization (WTO) Appellate Body’s shutdown on global logistics demand and to show the seriousness of the situation. Existing literature studies on protectionism or the US–China trade conflict were considered, with a focus on the effects of specific issues or impact on bilateral relations. No research has quantitatively considered the adverse effects of the Appellate Body’s shutdown. In this situation, questions can be raised whether the current global shipping logistics system can be sustainable or not. This paper attempts to estimate the shrinking demand for shipping logistics due to global protectionism. Using a dynamic general equilibrium model and trade-cargo-container conversion methodology, which differentiates this paper from previous studies, the paper suggests that the combination of tariffs and NTBs can severely reduce international trade and the demand for maritime logistics services. Depending on the scenario, port cargo is expected to decrease by 3.95 to 6.9 trillion tons, which can be half of the global cargo. Based on these estimates, this paper suggests that a catastrophe could occur in global trade order as well as global maritime logistics. Finally, underlining that the international trade order should not be severely damaged, this paper proposes that countries around the world should seriously discuss this issue at the 12th WTO Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Kazakhstan in June 2020.

Palm oil is one of the most traded vegetable oils in the global market due to its versatile usage and having a lower price than competitor products. Trade is related to logistics performance as it connects the exporter and importer countries; thus, improving the indicators of logistics also improves the performance of trade, especially in agricultural export. Currently, no study has revealed the effect of logistics performance on palm oil export by considering all the indicators. This study investigates the impact of all the indicators of the logistics performance index on palm oil and palm-based products. Using a panel data regression approach, the extended gravity model is applied in this study to examine Indonesia and Malaysia as the leading exporters of palm oil and palm-based products. The results reveal that all the Logistics Performance Index indicators affect palm oil and palm-based products export in Indonesia and Malaysia. The critical indicators of the Logistics Performance Index in Indonesia are timeliness and tracking and tracing. However, competence and quality of trade infrastructure are the main indicators of Malaysia's palm oil and palm-based products. The future direction of this research is to explore other agricultural commodities and extend the period of the analysis.

World trade transformations make the variability of cargo delivery logistics more strategically significant. In order to determine sector strategic priorities the authors of the article set innovative objectives of maritime transport logistics to optimize the international shipping process. The authors justify the need for innovative decisions in modern maritime logistics based on strategic analysis of the trends in transport structure of the global cargo traffic with the consideration of competitive advantages of maritime transportation. Transformations in the international trade are considered to be one of the key trends affecting the development of transport and logistics sector. The authors make use of extensive analytical material to show the way the transformation of the world trade affects the contents of the logistic schemes of maritime cargo transportation in terms of the dynamics of its quantitative indicators, commodity and geographical structure. In accordance with the study the authors conclude that the sectoral strategic development of maritime transportation ought to correspond to the innovative type of development of intermodal transportation taking into account the crucial factor of time.

In supporting competition areas, the International Trade and many kinds of free trade agreements in many industries will become progressively stringent. The implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community increases the need to grow the competitiveness of domestic industries through developing the performance of its logistics system. The Logistic Report Index 2018 was released by the World Bank Indicated that Indonesia rank was in 46th position out of 160 countries. Indonesia will definitely not be able to compete with their ASEAN peers if the development of infrastructure is still poor and logistics cost is higher than another countries. Thefore Indonesia is innovating Minicont-Mini Shipping Container which cutt off by up to 30% logistics cost and potentially become the next logistic defense. By applying quintuple helix this research is to analyze how Minicont can cut off logitisct cost significantly and support logistic defense in the future. The researchers apply descriptive method for data analysing and the result proved that Minicont shorten supply chain process.

Logistics has become one of the most important economic sectors. It significantly affects the transport infrastructure and many other sectors that are crucial for the country’s development. It is the factor that also influences trade efficiency. However, the question arises if logistics performance is significant for the trade of critical goods which are energy raw products. The aim of the paper is primarily to investigate the EU energy trade flows in general and to estimate the effect of logistics performance on the international trade of energy raw products. The energy raw products are grouped into solid, liquid, and gaseous products, and separate estimates are made for their export and import. The analysis also differentiates between the trade flows, that is export and import within the EU and trade flows between EU member states and third countries. The empirical model is based on the theory of gravity model extended to include the six subcomponents of the Logistics Performance Index (LPI). The results present that: (1) the standard gravity model variables, such as GDPs of reporter and partner countries and contiguity, are successful in explaining the trade flows of solid and liquid raw energy but in case of gas products, are insignificant; (2) the results indicate that all logistics’ performance subcomponents are highly significant and show positive effects on the export of liquid energy products, while for the solid and gas products, it seems to be insignificant when the energy commodities are more complex and costly to transport and store, and therefore, contiguity, i.e., when countries share a common border, positively affects energy trade; (3) the EU imports most liquid energy products, but is generally very dependent on energy imports. EU policymakers should strive to either make more use of domestic resources or switch more to renewable energy sources.
