The movement activity from Medan City to Tanjung Balai City is a fairly dense movement. The movement between the two cities can be served by several modes of transportation including trains and intercity transport buses (KUPJ, KUPJ TOUR, Sartika). The purpose of this study is to find out which public transportation is most interested in by the public before and after changes in the train system with city transportation buses, as well as analyze the variables of destination, consideration, and service of the Medan Tanjung Balai route. Based on the results of the analysis between passenger data from agencies and the results of field questionnaires, passengers prefer trains over intercity transport buses. This is due to the efficiency of fast train mileage compared to intercity transport buses. From the results of independent variables (goals, considerations, services) positively and significantly give a good influence to users of rail transport and city transport buses.

The most convenient means of transport while visiting Cape Town is getting around the town by tour bus. Tour buses in Cape Town shuttle regularly between major attractions of the town. Tourists can hop on and hop off at any bus stop they like. In May 2010, shortly before the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which took place in South Africa, an integrated electronic platform MyCiTi was implemented. Since then, passengers have gained access to current timetables and routes of buses, and got additional information about transport in Cape Town, which has turned out to be a significant convenience for them. Passengers can choose between four main colour coded tours: red, blue, yellow and purple. They can also transfer to another bus at transport nodes, which enables them to reach all tourist attractions in Cape Town. Moreover, there is possibility of buying day tickets or two-day tickets and taking a cruise which constitutes a great attraction in the offer of Citysightseeing company in Cape Town.

The article contemplates the problem of ignorance of fiction in modern society from different points of view. The reasons for literary illiteracy are considered. The authors propose holding a real tour on the streets of a city as a way to stimulate young generation’s interest in reading fiction. The city itself and its literary constituent act as a culturological evidence of the existence of different epochs, different people, but common timeless problems. To confirm this idea, the article provides a fragment of a real tour along the streets of Nizhny Novgorod.

Abstract Tomohon City is one of the tourist destinations which is currently experiencing an increase in tourist visits. This impacts traffic density because tourists still use private vehicles and large buses originating from Manado. Therefore, transportation and accessibility and connectivity are needed to connect one area to another through planning tour transport connectivity. The method used in this research is field data collection and descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis. After going through the data processing, the result is the type of vehicle used to plan of tour transport in Tomohon City is a small bus with 16 passengers. With the number of vehicles needed in the planning of tour transport, there are ten vehicles to accommodate the highest number of tourist visits on holidays with IDR. 400.000 / bus. The alternative route chosen is Tomohon Extreme Market -Lake Linow- Tomohon Prayer Hill.

The existence of tourism facilities and infrastructure are elements to facilitate the process of tourism activities. With the facilities and infrastructure, it is hoped that tourism activities can run smoothly. Among the facilities in tourism activities are transportation/tour buses, travel operators, travel agents, restaurants, hotels/inns, tourist attractions, and tourist attractions. PT Asli Prima Inti Karya is a company engaged in tourism bus rental services, located in Pandeglang Regency, precisely in Labuan, Banten province. PT Asli Prima Inti Karya organizes several tour package and travel agency activities. The conventional bus rental system did not initially cause problems in terms of service. Along with the increasing demand for rental, it takes a complete service so that customers can be served well. The author analyzes the problem and makes a bus rental application design as a solution to the problems in serving customers who will rent buses. The application design uses UML, and uses the Sublime Text 3 programming language, PHP, XAMPP Version 3.2.4, and the database used is MySQL. The results of the application test show that the existence of this information system can make it easier for tenants to carry out the bus rental process.

Although mainstream researchers have analyzed various aspects of the Grand Tour, they have tended to adopt a narrow definition limited to the experiences of young English gentlemen undertaking a study tour of Italy and France. This article poses a somewhat provocative question: was the Grand Tour feasible as a study tour of an English gentleman visiting Poland- Lithuania? Based on contemporary travel writing, the author reveals the challenges and the difficult logistics of such an undertaking.

This paper presents an entropy-based transit tour synthesis (TTS) using fuzzy logic (FL) based on entropy maximization (EM). The objective is to obtain the most probable transit (bus) tour flow distribution in the network based on traffic counts. These models consider fixed parameters and constraints. The costs, traffic counts, and demand for buses vary depending on different aspects (e.g., congestion), which are not captured in detail in the models. Then, as the FL can be included in modeling that variability, it allows obtaining solutions where some or all the constraints do not entirely satisfy their expected value, but are close to it, due to the flexibility this method provides to the model. This optimization problem was transformed into a bi-objective problem when the optimization variables were the membership and entropy. The performance of the proposed formulation was assessed in the Sioux Falls Network. We created an indicator (Δ) that measures the distance between the model’s obtained solution and the requested value or target value. It was calculated for both production and volume constraints. The indicator allowed us to observe that the flexible problem (FL Mode) had smaller Δ values than the ones obtained in the No FL models. These results prove that the inclusion of the FL and EM approaches to estimate bus tour flow, applying the synthesis method (traffic counts), improves the quality of the tour estimation.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on social and economic life, especially in Indonesia. In the city of Bandung itself, this impact is felt for workers in the tourism sector such as travel business owners, tour leaders, tour guides and tourism bus drivers. The writing of this research was carried out with the aim of knowing the negative impacts felt by tourism sector workers in the city of Bandung during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this study, the authors used a direct interview method using a semi-structured interview guide instrument, with the direction of the interview aimed at: 1) Knowing the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic felt by tourism workers. 2) Knowing the survival strategies carried out by tourism workers during the Covid-19 Pandemic. From the two subtitles, it can be seen that the direct impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on tourism business actors in the city of Bandung is seen from the income aspect. Most tourism workers in Bandung City have lost their livelihoods during the Covid-19 pandemic. So that requires tourism business actors to change professions in order to survive, such as: a) Selling used cars. b) Selling designs online. c) Selling catering. d) Changing the vehicle business unit from tourism buses to inter-island buses. e) Become a private driver or online. f) Selling used clothes online. g) Selling juice and hydroponic vegetable cultivation. h) Opening employment opportunities for other affected tourism business actors in the form of local courier applications in the city of Bandung. i) Selling frozen food.

Bandung is known as the capital of West Java. Bandung also develops as a culinary city. As a form of the Government's responsibility to facilitate tourists who come to Bandung, the Government has officially announced the "Bandros" Tourism Bus (Bandung Tour on Bus). But practically, there are many problems faced by stakeholders. Standardization of prices among passengers, limits on the number of buses that cannot serve passengers, unclear routes including departures and arrivals, unhealthy management for safety factors and an increase in the number of passengers that have a negative impact due to the quality of service. The purpose of this study is to describe service quality, community satisfaction and community interest in reusing Bandros, and also to obtain the results of an analysis of the extent to which service quality affects community satisfaction and its impact on community interest in reusing Bus Bandros. In this study, researchers used the descriptive-verification method. This method is used to verify the quality of service perception, community satisfaction and community intentions to reuse Bus Bandros by involving 500 respondents who wish to use Bus Bandros. The distribution and selection of respondents was carried out using convenience sampling. Path analysis is also used in this study. Based on the results of the statistical testing process found significant perceptions between service quality variables and brand image with public interest in the city of Bandung to use Bus Bandros. For recommendations in this study, clarity of information can increase the public's intention to use Bus Bandros, because the information submitted will provide clarity in order to increase public intention to ride Bus Bandros.

Grand Teton (GRTE) and Yellowstone (YELL) National Parks are experiencing an increase in visitation of Chinese tourists over the last few years, but little is known about the expectations, behaviors, and actual experiences of these new visitors. Cultural differences and language barriers contribute to misunderstanding and confusion between park management and visitors, which may lead to regulation violations and conflicts. A better understanding of Chinese tourists’ expectations and experiences is essential for better communication strategies to facilitate preservation of natural resources. To address this, we interviewed Chinese tourists traveling individually or on tour buses, and tour guides for Chinese tourists in GRTE in summer 2018. Three major themes emerged from our interviews: 1) Factors that influence Chinese tourists’ decision-making process, among those the most significant ones are the reputation of YELL and different information sources in China; 2) Dominant expectations among Chinese tourists and the role these expectations are playing in tourists’ satisfaction; and, 3) Chinese tourists’ actual experience that may be different from those of domestic travelers. Buses are one of the most widely chosen transportation methods to support the mobility of the Indonesian people. Mobility that is often found in addition to public transportation, is also often found in the mobility of tourism tour activities for a travel group. The number of tourist destinations to which passengers go up and down makes the assistant bus driver or group leader work hard to ensure that the number of passengers boarding the bus matches the number of groups. It often takes a long time to ensure the accuracy of the number of passengers before departure to the next destination. This conventional method results in the delay of the tourism tour schedule. In this research, the author designs a webcam-based bus passenger face detection system using the Single Shot Detector (SSD) method that can provide real-time information to bus drivers, assistant bus drivers or group leaders. The results obtained by the system obtained an achievement of 95% of the total system creation along with testing the detection of bus passenger faces in actual conditions resulted in an average accuracy of 77.5%.

Fundamental transit service design in a number of small cities in Western Europe, which have reputationally good transit systems, is discussed. This work was the result of a transit study tour sponsored by the Transit Cooperative Research Program of TRB. Key differences between transit design practice in Europe and the United States include longer distances between stops, superior customer information at bus stops, more frequent service, and downtown schedule coordination in the European systems. The combination of low-floor buses, off-board fare collection, long distances between stops, and multiple boarding doors on buses enables these systems to carry a large number of customers without deteriorating schedule speed. Several transit systems have used imaginative methods of providing service in low-density markets such as sparsely settled areas and evening and weekend transit service. These include the use of group taxis that travel between downtown and bus stops in the rest of the city. Compared with U.S. transit systems of comparable size, European transit systems are more technology driven. Even small cities have traffic-signal preemption systems, schedule adherence systems, and off-board electronic fare collection technology. Possible application of some of these techniques to transit practice in the United States is discussed.

AbstractBetween the early twentieth century and the 1960s, the Indian state began to incorporate the easternmost Himalayas. This article illuminates this state-making process by examining its material and communicative culture, embodied in tour diaries. These diaries were not private reflections written during one's spare time but the compulsory output of administrative tours. Often followed by more reflective notes, their perceived insights were used to determine local or general policy changes. Drawing on a literature that sees paperwork as constitutive of bureaucracy, this article argues that tour diaries exemplified and buttressed a certain form of frontier governance, marked by itinerancy and personalization well into independence. In their historical development, their language and materiality, their administrative usage, tour diaries embodied more than anything else the contingent, spatially uneven, and fractured nature of Indian state-making in the Himalayas, revealing the importance of process geographies anchored in paperwork circulation for its sustenance. Human visitors to the park are represented by 3D animated avatars and can explore a square mile of 3D terrain. In addition to human visitors, the park hosts a number of computer simulations, including tour buses and autonomous animated figures. Diamond Park is implemented using a software platform called Spline, which makes it easy to build virtual worlds where multiple people interact with each other and with computer simulations in a 3D visual and audio environment. The American minister Charles Monroe Sheldon published the “runaway bestseller” In His Steps “What Would Jesus Do?” in 1896. The initial, and stupendous, popularity of Sheldon’s social gospel novel has not yet been scrutinised in relation to its historical antecedents. By 1899 the weekly Outlook remarked on the transatlantic cross-over of the book, stating: “wherever one went in London, whether on trains or buses, in bookstores or shops, [one] found people talking about In His Steps.” In that same year W. T. Stead reissued his non-fiction book If Christ Came to Chicago, which had first been published in Chicago in 1894, two years before Sheldon’s sermon-story. The 1899 title page declared: “The Precursor of ‘In His Steps’/ If Christ came to Chicago!... /What Would Jesus Do?” Stead’s non-fiction book sold well on both sides of the Atlantic, before and after Sheldon’s novel was published. So, was this simply a marketing stunt designed to attract more readers? Or did Stead’s new title register deeper concerns about the relationship between fiction, journalism, and the social gospel movement? Investigating the somewhat vexed relationship between these two texts, this article traces the transatlantic roots of In His Steps. Comparing the afterlife of the novel with its immediate non-fiction ancestor, I explore the synergetic, if at times uncomfortable, relationship that developed between the social gospel movement and the periodical press at the end of the nineteenth century.

Until Childe Harold's Pilgrimage (1812–18), Byron was on the edge of fame. He broke this barrier through his European Tour (1809–11) which provided inspiration for the famous poem. Whilst extending social boundaries, through his meeting with Ali Pasha, Byron expanded the itinerary of the traditional ‘Grand Tour’ to include land, like Albania, previously unmarked by British boots. Byron mirrors his pioneering travel practices in his fiction. On the edges of Childe Harold are footnotes that cover anthropological, topographical, and autobiographical ground, advancing cultural understanding of areas either neglected or misrepresented by previous writers. I argue that, through revisions of these footnotes, Byron sought to dispel and correct myths relating to obscure European nations, perpetuated by ‘irresponsible’ accounts of previous travellers and in doing so strove to educate his readership on the benefits of informed, reasoned debates, built on empirical knowledge. This article establishes a link between Byron's poetry and politics to assess how far his demand for objectivity in literature bled into his political ambitions.

When Charles Dickens tried to lobby for American support of an international copyright agreement during his wildly popular 1842 tour of the United States, the English author was famously shocked to find himself lambasted as an elitist who dared expect payment for what Americans believed they had the right to read for free (McGill 109–40; Claybaugh 71; Pettitt 152). Dickens encountered in the practice of literary piracy, or what was called in the United States, the culture of reprinting, a deep fissure in capitalist democratic culture between individual ownership and public access, an ideological divide that forms the backdrop for the creation and circulation of nineteenth-century print. If the legal privatization of intellectual property hovered in the imagination of so many Victorian writers, it formed the happy ending of a long nineteenth-century struggle over literary piracy, a contention of goods that shaped the Victorian stage as we well as the transatlantic literary marketplace.

AbstractThe condition sometimes referred to as “economy class syndrome,” and also known as “traveler's thrombosis,” is a distinctive pathological condition characterized by occurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in a patient who has recently experienced a long journey (i.e., ≥ 4 h). Typically, the identified travel is by airplane, but travel with other vehicles, such as trains, trucks, buses, or cars, could potentially qualify as contributing to VTE events. Although the enhanced risk of VTE after long haul flights is now widely acknowledged, albeit potentially overhyped, the risk of venous thrombosis after prolonged travel by other modes of transport, in particular, by cars, is less well appreciated. Current evidence, collected from some epidemiological studies, suggests that if any risk of VTE can be attributed to prolonged and uninterrupted car travels, and we give moderate credibility to such an association, the risk may be similar to that already proven for long haul flights. The risk is especially high in individuals undergoing uninterrupted car journeys lasting 4 hours or longer, in vehicles with a narrow seat-pitch, and in particularly would affect those with pre-existing acquired or inherited prothrombotic conditions. The putative biological mechanisms basically entail venous stasis and edema, which are often compounded by a certain degree of hypercoagulability. When these factors are combined with preexistent prothrombotic conditions, the risk may be substantially magnified. In this perspective, then, ‘car thrombosis’ may be regarded as a trigger rather than a risk factor for venous thrombosis. Although the current evidence is certainly not solid enough to endorse the use of general chemical prophylaxis for lowering the risk of car-related VTE, a set of possible precautionary measures, with no or very little side effects, may be suggested before planning prolonged car travels, especially for at risk individuals.

Using the notion of fetishism, we analyse the construction of Chaco touristic products, delving into the social relations that are made invisible appearing in the physical shape of objects with value. We continue research initiated in 2012 and 2019 (referring to processes of commodification of Chaco indigenous handicrafts and culture in tourist‑cultural projects). We use the ethnographic method, covering ethnographic interview and reviews of official documents and websites. The construction of the products in question, by tour operators, state agents and non‑governmental organizations, involves an administration of perceptions that articulate reality and fiction. The fiction of “the typical” as something that is there to be shown is linked to products presented as the same after through operations of selection, naming, hierarchisation, demonstration, translation and certification. These operations, however, remain unfocused, thus promoting the sense of “the typical” as something that is there.

This article explores the staging of the Hop On–Hop Off buses, bus-tour and actual embodied performances enacted by tourists on the move. We draw on a performance-inspired terminology to explore the co-production of mundane tourist experiences. Following calls for not making moral judgements or belittling sightseeing tourists and understanding the mundane dimensions of tourist practice, we conduct empathetic research with and about them. We also draw on performance metaphors to highlight the staged and scripted nature of these tours. However, to disavow assumptions that sightseeing is a uniform, fully choreographed practice, we identify different practices and motives within an otherwise much-scripted practice. We show that Hop On–Hop Off practices potentially undermine distinctions within tourism theory between (1) individual tourism and mass tourism, (2) self-directed active mobility (such as walking) and designed passive mobility (such as the sightseeing bus), (3) bubbles and local neighbourhoods and (4) gazing and glancing.

_ Metallica, an iconic American heavy metal band, began the European leg of its M72 World Tour in Europe on 24 May, rocking in Munich, Germany. Although their high-decibel signature guitar riffs, dynamic drumming, and fast tempos have been widely celebrated and anticipated, their tour buses have attracted their own dedicated groupies. These groupies are interested in the alternative fuels keeping the buses rolling on the 2-month, 7,200-mile journey across nine countries and include Shell, big-rig and electric vehicle manufacturers, and producers of hydrogen, biofuels, and LNG. The band’s gear will be hauled using a diverse fleet of special-edition vehicles built by Italian manufacturer Iveco. Ten Iveco S-Way heavy-duty natural gas vehicles and four S-Way trucks powered by renewable diesel will utilize Shell’s refueling network. The fleet will include a convoy for additional logistics and show support, comprising two S-eWay trucks—the first fully electric heavy-duty trucks manufactured by the company—two S-Way LNG trucks, and one more S-Way powered by renewable diesel. An S-eWay fuel-cell truck will also join the convoy for the final Spanish dates. Iveco’s sister brand, Iveco Bus, will shuttle the band’s crew on-site at the venues with eDaily minibuses and an Evadys coach. Shell’s renewable diesel, BioLNG, LNG, and FuelSave diesel will be used in the trucks. Iveco’s hydrogen fuel-cell trucks are powered by fuel-cell systems from HTWO, a hydrogen business brand of Hyundai Motor Group, and use hydrogen produced by Air Liquide. The truck manufacturer displayed its first prototype of a heavy-duty fuel-cell truck in June 2023 during the opening of Air Liquide’s hydrogen refueling station in Fos-sur-Mer (Marseille). The large-capacity high-pressure station (1 ton/day) is supplied with hydrogen through pipeline and features a fast refueling time at 700-bar pressure. The Fos-sur-Mer station is part of the HyAMMED project supported by French funding. The new station is also part of H2Haul, the European project cofinanced by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. Air Liquide and Iveco were among the first partners of the H2Haul project when it was launched in 2019. A second high-capacity station (700 bar, 2 tons/day) dedicated to heavy vehicles will be installed in Salon-de-Provence to supply a potential fleet of 50 hydrogen Iveco trucks from 2025 as part of the R’HySE project which aims to deploy new infrastructure to distribute hydrogen sources in the south of France. Not Without Challenges Although Europe has available more alternative-fuel infrastructure than the US, Metallica’s route is experiencing some issues. The longest leg of the journey will be from Warsaw to Madrid, about 1,800 miles. Consider the following ranges of the Iveco tour trucks: EV models, 311 miles; LNG 994; and fuel cell EVs, 500. Iveco CEO Gerrit Marx said in a recent Wall Street Journal article that the lack of charging and fueling stations between venues means the battery-electric and hydrogen trucks will be mostly for promotional use at concerts. Natasha Highcroft, a director of TransAm Trucking, which provides logistics for Metallica, added, “We use alternative fuels as and when we can, as much as possible, but until the infrastructure is there, it’s very difficult.” “There is no silver bullet solution that alone will enable the whole transport industry to decarbonize. Instead, we are seeing a range of alternative fuels available and being developed, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The key is to evaluate each and see which is the best fit,” wrote Volvo Trucks Environment and Innovation Director Lars Mårtensson on Volvo’s website. This tour fits the bill by providing a real-world example of the use of various alternative fuels on a large scale, and how far innovation and development have come. Metallica’s high profile and popularity draws attention in much of the world. Less so may be the carbon footprint associated with the metal band genre. A 2022 study by Power Play used Billboard rankings to find the most-popular touring musicians in six genres, then analyzed their 2022 tour dates to estimate their carbon emissions. The estimates considered factors such as total flight and total driving emissions (metric tons of CO2), average distance traveled per tour, and average number of shows. Metallica ranked No. 6 in the top 10 emitters in the metal genre for total flight (804 metric tons of CO2) and total driving emissions (40 metric tons of CO2). Iveco said in a statement, “Metallica will make a significant leap forward on its decarbonization journey. Environmental sustainability and social responsibility are the common ground on which the partnership between Iveco and Metallica is built.” The truck manufacturer aims to keep the buzz alive. In the school bus scheduling problem, the main contributing factor to the cost is the number of buses needed for the operations. However, when subcontracting the pupils’ transportation, unbalanced tours can increase the costs significantly as the lengths of some tours can exceed the daily fixed driving goal and will result in over-hour charges. This paper proposes a mixed integer programming (MIP) model and a matching-based heuristic algorithm to solve the “balanced” school bus scheduling problem with fixed start times in a multi-school setting. The heuristic solution always has the minimum number of buses as it starts with a minimal number of tours and does not alter the number of tours during its balancing stage. The effectiveness of the heuristic is tested by comparing its solutions with results from solving the MIP using commercial solvers whenever solvers could find a good solution. To illustrate the performance of the MIP and the heuristic, 11 problems were examined with different numbers of trips which are all based on two real-world problems: a California case study with 54 trips and the Howard County Public School System with 994 trips. Our numerical results indicate the proposed heuristic algorithm can find reasonable solutions in a significantly shorter time. The balanced solutions of our algorithm can save up to 16% of school bus operation costs compared with the best solution found by solvers from optimizing the MIP model after 40 hours. The balancing stage of the heuristic decreases the standard deviation of the tour durations by up to 47%.

The author of this note paper considers the cholera epidemic's impact on Hawthorne's writing life and how it reverberates through her own writing of historical fiction during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

The war in Ukraine, the closure of airspace and drastic changes in demand affected the marketing, advertising, eventing and logistics of tour operators. In this regard, the segment of bus tours, which allow tour operators to avoid logistical problems, is actively developing. Entry into the niche of bus tours by new competitors presupposes the active use of marketing tools by all market participants. Marketing in the segment of bus tours is changing radically under the influence of the recent pandemic and quarantine restrictions, the war in Ukraine, the economic crisis, the active implementation of information technologies and digitalization, the emergence of new generations of consumers, environmental activities and other factors. Theoretical aspects of bus tourism marketing are developed and practices of using marketing tools by tourist operators of the bus tour segment in the crisis state of the domestic tourist market are generalized in this article. The essence, goals and objectives of marketing activity in the field of organized bus tourism are considered. The concept, specifics and types of bus tourism are described. It is proposed to understand bus tours as trips of organized groups of tourists on their own or rented buses of tourist operators along a certain route and a formed excursion program. Factors affecting the development of bus tourism and tourist demand for bus tours are noted. The marketing practice of domestic tourist operators in the «bus tours» segment is summarized and it is concluded that they understand the threats and modern challenges, therefore they actively use marketing tools to successfully compete and maintain their market share. The considered practices of marketing activity form cases for players of the tourism market to adapt their offer to modern realities related to the crisis state of the domestic tourism market caused by the war, a decrease in demand, population migration, the change of generations of consumers and demonstrate experience in using new communication channels, tools of sustainable tourism, etc.

Although most critics have focused on the overall negative aspect of Jack Wilton’s Italian tour in The Unfortunate Traveller (1594), as suggested in the title of Thomas Nashe’s prose fiction, the specificity of the narrator’s Venetian adventures should be examined more closely. This paper argues that Thomas Nashe’s representation of Venice needs to be reassessed in the context of Thomas More’s Utopia and the question of the ideal commonwealth. Notwithstanding Nashe’s reliance on pervasive irony, the author provides an image of the city-state which – thanks to a retrospective approach – puts the topic of alternative urban spaces in the early modern period into perspective.

Between the two great obelisks of Istanbul’s Atmeidan, rests the battered and truncated remains of one of western civilization’s most intriguing and important artifacts: the Serpent Column of Delphi. With its two companions, the ancient bronze pillar marks the spina of the Byzantine hippodrome around which the chariots of the Empire once raced. Today only tour buses make the circuit. The Serpent Column is all the more extraordinary simply by its continued existence. On public display for over 2300 years, it somehow escaped the fires, earthquakes, and lootings which destroyed almost all other Hellenic bronze masterpieces. As one author at the turn of the twentieth century noted, ‘Nothing in Constantinople, perhaps in the world, has such a history.’ It is not, however, the purpose of this study to present that history, but rather to examine new evidence and make new arguments concerning crucial points in it. More specifically, this article will concentrate on the column’s physical state, as well as some local folklore surrounding it, from its removal to Constantinople in the fourth century until its truncation in 1700.

Case overview Mr Srinivas Kesineni has been chairman of Kesineni Tours and Travels for the last 19 years. Kesineni Tours and Travels is one of the fastest growing bus travel and transport organisations. The case describes the journey of Kesineni Tours and Travels since its inception. It also outlines different strategies adopted by the Chairman to reach newer heights, to survive and to grow in the turbulent times of changing technology and rising competition from different means of transportation. This unique organisation is run by family, friends and well-wishers of the owners, yet it is professional in its approach in operations. The board of directors of Kesineni Tours and Travels has approved the financial results of 2010, which shows 55 percent growth and Rs 86.71 crores turnover. This is a remarkable achievement and recognition for a company that has been in the business since 1992. In early 1992, entrepreneur Mr Srinivas Kesineni thought of a bus transportation business when he started with just two buses, and today when the organization is the largest tour and travel company in the region serving approximately 15 lack customers in a year covering 75 destinations with around 425 daily schedules. He and his team have been working tirelessly and the company has a remarkable presence in the tour and travel business in India with occasional innovative moves from optimising bus routing, initiating sleeper coaches, introducing Volvo buses to the fleet, entering the cargo transportation business and more. This business has grown at CAGR of 24.07 percent since 2000-2001. Students reading this case may come to the class with preconceived views that the journey of the organisation since its beginning is an ordinary story, but this case creates an opportunity for students to come to their own conclusion how different strategies and the synthesis is important for achieving desired outcomes form time to time. This case facilitates the deductive learning process by identifying different strategic elements form the case and to understand its synergy to explain McKinsey 7s framework. Expected learning outcomes These include: understanding different strategies and policies adopted by the organisation and its impact on performance; understanding the importance of alignment of processes and departments in achievement of organisational strategy; and analysing and understanding the concept of the McKinsey 7S Framework, which is a helpful tool to understand the performance of the organisation. Historically until now, accessibility, especially transportation, has played an important role in tourism development. This study aims to identify tourists erceptions of tourist transportation (KM Sabuk Nusantara 66) as an attraction for tourists visiting the Kepulauan Seribu from the port of Sunda Kelapa. This study adopted a qualitative approach to triangulation data collection techniques. The research location was carried out at Sunda Kelapa Port, involving the ship captain (PT. Pelni) and the KSOP Sunda Kelapa Port staff. The number of samples determined using a purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, tourists are determined by the judgmental sampling technique. This data collection was carried out for three months, from May to July 2018. This study found that the KM Sabuk Nusantara 66 Ship's feasibility is following tourists' perceptions based on 10 indicators of transportation factors to support tourism. This research can be used to suggest ship operators and destination managers' development improve service quality continuously. This study has limitations on the sample of transportation companies involved. Future research is expected to reach a wider sample or even reach other transportation types, such as tourist trains, tour buses, or even air transportation.

Cet article vise à retracer la création, la publication, la traduction et la circulation du recueil Mon pays autour de 1890, notamment les transferts des savoirs sociaux et de la littérature chinoise en langue française puis portugaise, pour examiner la genèse et des échanges culturels et des relations diplomatiques sino-brésiliennes dans la fin du XIXe siècle, par l’intermédiaire d’une francosphère. En examinant l’utilisation des imageries littéraires et des événements réalistes dans le portrait que le diplomate-écrivain Chen Jitong fait de son pays, et la réception de ses articles dans différents contextes en France et au Brésil, nous essayons de comprendre, comment Mon pays(Meu Paiz) relevant d’une littérature sino-franco-brésilienne opère un tour de passe-passe entre réalité et fiction et élargit ainsi les horizons de l’historiographie au carrefour de ces trois pays, contribuant finalement à leurs propre identité culturelle.

Margaret Atwood is the only Canadian author whose 80th birthday in 2019 was celebrated by the global academic community. This is not surprising, as she is the most famous Canadian writer, popular also outside literary circles. On this occasion, Slovene Canadianists organized a literary event at the Maribor University Library, which presented an outline of Atwood’s oeuvre and a selection of translated poems and excerpts of prose texts; some of these were translated especially for the event. Of Atwood’s rich and varied oeuvre, only eight novels, a few short fiction pieces and some thirty poems have been translated into Slovene. This article thus aims at presenting those aspects of Atwood’s work which are less know to Slovene readers. It is no secret that Atwood is often labelled a feminist writer, mostly on account of The Handmaid’s Tale and the TV series based on the novel. However, many Slovene readers may not know that she also writes poetry, short fiction, non-fiction and children’s literature, that she is a committed environmentalist, and that she discussed the problem of “Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth” in a prestigious lecture series. There are not many authors who master as many genres as Atwood and who are so well-received by readers and critics alike. The latter is true of Atwood also in Slovenia, and we can only hope that Slovene publishers will make more of Atwood’s work available to Slovene readers. All the more so since Atwood has no plans to end her career: just before her 80th birthday she was on a tour in Europe promoting her latest novel, The Testaments, and she would have continued touring in 2020 were it not for the COVID pandemic.

The research method that used in this research was descriptive method. This research shown the Toilet, Trash and places of worship are becoming the most important means of desired by the tourists who visit the Sembalun regions.The researcher found the condition of the Hotel or other accommodation danTempat Worship is there in halal tourism Sembalun regions, East Lombok Regency is very good compared with the condition of the other supporting facilities. The travelers feel facilities that easy to reach within in the Sembalun Lawang are worship place, the Hotel/accommodation/Lodging, restaurant/dining and two wheeled vehicle parking Area. The results of this research suggest to Government and societies of Sembalun Lawang immediately provide toilets and Trash at every attraction in the Sembalun Lawang. The Government should immediately set up hotels and other akodomasi so that sufficient for the number of tourists coming to the Sembalun Lawang and not to interfere with the natural landscape Sembalun regions as the main attraction of this area. Faslilitas parking for tour buses should be immediately provided. This study describes the history of the company in the field of PT. NPM transportation. This type of research includes qualitative research using historical research methods. In historical research there are several steps namely heuristics (collecting data), source criticism (making criticism of existing sources), interpretation (making interpretations related to historical facts) and historiography (writing history). The results of this study explain the development of PT.NPM Padang Panjang as a family company still survives until the third generation. PT. NPM Padang Panjang was established in 1937 by Bahauddin Sutan Barbanso Nan Kuniang. In 1997 the company experienced a setback caused by several factors, namely; (1) the monetary crisis caused capital and spare parts costs to be expensive, so that it affected the increase in transportation prices, (2) the strategy of low-cost aircraft fares since 2002, (3) the existence of travel and minibuses resulted in passengers leaving large buses as a result PT. NPM stopped the AKDP (Inter-City Within Province) route in mid 2008. In the third Angga Vircansa Chairul (2009) PT. NPM experienced a heyday after formalizing tourism transportation in 2012 under the name Vircansa Tour Bous. End of 2018 a fresh breeze for transportation companies after the government implemented an increase in aircraft fares. Until 2019 PT. NPM serves regular transportation and tourism with the latest online ticket and route purchase system to Riau province.
