Streszczenie:
In recent years, with the global energy shortage and severe environmental deterioration, railway transport has begun to attract great interest as a green transportation mode. One of the vital means to realize social sustainable development is to improve railway transportation systems, in which providing a demand-oriented train timetable with a higher service level is the most viable method. A demand-oriented train timetable problem generally deals with passengers’ train-choice decisions according to the queue principle, but it is not adapted to rail systems, such as China’s, where passengers usually book tickets a few days in advance by telephone or online instead of going to stations. This paper is devoted to modeling and solving the demand-oriented train timetabling problem integrated with passengers’ train-booking decisions. Firstly, a bi-level programming model is formulated for their integrated optimization on a rail network. Its upper-level model is to optimize train arrival and departure times at each visited station with the aim of reducing passengers’ total travel cost, while its lower-level model aims to determine passengers’ train-booking behavior using the user equilibrium theory. Then, a priority-based heuristic algorithm is designed to solve this model. It has two main steps at each iteration: one is to determine the number of passengers booking each train with a given train timetable, and the other is to improve the current train timetable based on the valuable information of passenger train-booking decisions. The performance, convergence, and practicability of the proposed method were analyzed based on the Changsha–Zhuzhou–Xiangtan intercity rail in China. Experimental results show the proposed method can effectively reduce the travel cost for passengers, creating a greater passenger demand for railway travel, which is beneficial to the sustainable development of railway systems and even society.

As they involve many interacting agents behaving in numerous ways that are extremely difficult to predict, urban transportation systems are complex in nature. The development of intermodal passenger transportation solutions to address the mobility issues constitutes a major thrust area of urban transport policies. But, to offer citizens comprehensive seamless mobility, intermodal transportation system management (ITSM) requires the integration of two major components. The traffic regulation support system, to help the operator responsible for the regulation tasks: coordination of timetables, synchronising arrival and departure times between the different transportation modes, and the traveller information system, giving customers access to information and using a comprehensive set of information tools. In this paper, a generic model of a transport management system, integrating these two components is proposed. This generic model is then used to elaborate a traffic regulation system in the case of a bimodal transportation system (tram-bus). The traffic regulation support system, based on the decision model of an operator, and the traveler information system are described.

The online operation management and the offline policy evaluation in complex transit networks require an effective dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) method that can capture the temporal-spatial nature of traffic flows. The objective of this work is to propose a simulation-based dynamic passenger assignment framework and models for such applications in the context of schedule-based rail transit systems. In the simulation framework, travellers are regarded as individual agents who are able to obtain complete information on the current traffic conditions. A combined route selection model integrated with pretrip route selection and entrip route switch is established for achieving the dynamic network flow equilibrium status. The train agent is operated strictly with the timetable and its capacity limitation is considered. A continuous time-driven simulator based on the proposed framework and models is developed, whose performance is illustrated through a large-scale network of Beijing subway. The results indicate that more than 0.8 million individual passengers and thousands of trains can be simulated simultaneously at a speed ten times faster than real time. This study provides an efficient approach to analyze the dynamic demand-supply relationship for large schedule-based transit networks.

University timetabling construction is a complicated task that is encountered by universities in the world. In this study, a hybrid approach has been developed to produce timetable solution for the university examination timetabling problem. Black Hole Algorithm (BHA), a population-based approach that mimics the black hole phenomenon has been introduced in the literature recently and successfully applied in addressing various optimization problems. Although its effectiveness has been proven, there still exists inefficiency regarding the exploitation ability where BHA is poor in fine tuning search region in reaching for good quality of solution. Hence, a hybrid framework for university examination timetabling problem that is based on BHA and Hill Climbing local search is proposed (hybrid BHA). The aim of this hybridization is to improve the exploitation ability of BHA in fine tuning the promising search regions and convergence speed of the search process. A real-world university examination benchmark dataset has been used to evaluate the performance of hybrid BHA. The computational results demonstrate that hybrid BHA capable of generating competitive results and recording best results for three instances, compared to the reference approaches and current best-known recorded in the literature. Other than that, findings from the Friedman tests show that the hybrid BHA ranked second and third in comparison with hybrid and meta-heuristic approaches (total of 27 approaches) reported in the literature, respectively.

Solid waste management operations are collecting, transportation, and disposal of residential, commercial, institutional, construction, demolition, and wide street areas; the result of the daily activity of humans needs to be properly managed. Iraq faces many problems associated with its unregulated solid waste systems. First, however, this study examined the reality of solid waste management in Iraq and ways to develop it. The total number of participants in this research was 326 participants .The data collected in February and March 2021, interview methodology and questionnaire which used, and the analysis software used for this research is IBM SPSS version 23; the two methodologies were used and combined to reach the largest possible amount of qualitative and quantitative information that may be absent from the researcher and to reach good results and outputs for the research, for reasons including obtaining more and deeper information to reach the largest segment of society and to achieve the goals of the thesis and obtain good results by integrating the two methodologies. The study concluded by analyzing the data, The municipality’s weak role and the lack of regular timetables in organizing waste collection and transportation operations, and 64% agreed that there are not sorting of waste from the source; also, the lack of cooperation and coordination between the public and the municipality, 39% agreed that most municipalities do not have healthy and environmentally safe landfills for waste disposal, 33% strongly agreed that there are no appropriate policies and laws that enhance the effectiveness of solid waste management, 49% strongly agreed that residents are ready to sort the waste in the designated place in case the municipality provides the containers, 53% agreed that residents are willing to pay for collecting waste from their homes or stores. After analyzing the study results, Iraq needs stations for sorting and transporting waste and stations for recycling plastic, paper and metals. Also, there is a need for sanitary landfills compatible with environmental conditions, and the municipality should play a greater role and give the private sector a greater role in the solid waste management process and overcome obstacles that hinder the work of investment companies, in addition to raising community awareness through holding educational workshops. For example, in schools and universities to spread environmental awareness in the community.

Timetable optimization for urban subways is aimed at improving the transportation service. In congested subway systems, the effects of crowding at stations and inside the vehicles have not been properly addressed in timetabling. Moreover, it is difficult to show the time of values in different riding conditions. In this paper, we consider the passenger-travel process as a physical activity expending energy and formulate a travel energy expenditure function for a heavily congested urban subway corridor. A timetable optimization model is proposed to minimize the total energy expenditure, including waiting on the platform and travelling in the vehicle. We develop a heuristic generic algorithm to solve the optimization problem through a special binary coding method. The model is applied to the Yi-zhuang line in the Beijing subway system to obtain a passenger-oriented energy-minimizing timetable. Compared with using the existing timetable, we find a 20% reduction in average energy expenditure per passenger and a RMB 47,500 increase in social profits as the result of the timetable optimization.

With fixed running times at sections, cooperative scheduling (CS) approach optimizes the dwell times and the headway time to coordinate the accelerating and braking processes for trains, such that the recovery energy generated from the braking trains can be used by the accelerating trains. In practice, trains always have stochastic departure delays at busy stations. For reducing the divergence from the given timetable, the operation company generally adjusts the running times at the following sections. Focusing on the randomness on delay times and running times, this paper proposes a stochastic cooperative scheduling (SCS) approach. Firstly, we estimate the conversion and transmission losses of recovery energy, and then formulate a stochastic expected value model to maximize the utilization of the recovery energy. Furthermore, we design a binary-coded genetic algorithm to solve the optimal timetable. Finally, we conduct experimental studies based on the operation data from Beijing Yizhuang subway line. The results show that the SCS approach can save energy by 15.13% compared with the current timetable, and 8.81% compared with the CS approach.

In this paper, a new model, known as the multimodal dynamic timetable model (DTM), is presented for computing optimal multimodal journeys in schedule-based public transport systems. The new model constitutes an extension of the dynamic timetable model (DTM), which was developed originally for a different setting (unimodal journey-planning). Multimodal DTM demonstrates a very fast query algorithm that meets the requirement for real-time response to best journey queries, and an ultra-fast update algorithm for updating the timetable information in case of delays of scheduled-based vehicles. An experimental study on real-world metropolitan networks demonstrates that the query and update algorithms of Multimodal DTM compare favorably with other state-of-the-art approaches when public transport, including unrestricted—with respect to departing time—traveling (e.g., walking and electric vehicles) is considered.

Streszczenie:
As an important task of construction project management, construction schedule management is related to the realization of project period, cost, quality, and other objectives. However, in actual construction, problems such as difficulties in plan implementation and management are often encountered, and schedule delays often occur. Moreover, with the increase in the scale and complexity of modern buildings, the management of construction schedules has brought about larger issues and higher requirements have been put forward for the management level of the construction schedule. The traditional timetable management and scheduling is not highly relevant to the project entity. There is no entity change, the project information loss is serious, the tracking and control of the construction timetable is not in place, there is fine management, and the construction timetable management cannot meet the needs of modern construction. In order to ensure the smooth implementation of projects and objectives, it is urgent to explore new management ideas and methods to promote the smooth progress of construction process management. BIM technology has the advantages of visibility, simulation, adjustment, optimization, and advanced data integration, which helps to make up for the shortcomings of previous schedule management and improve the level of construction schedule management. Based on the research situation of large-scale construction project monitoring system and the analysis of information fusion technology, this paper proposes a large-scale construction project monitoring system scheme based on multisensor network information fusion. Through the investigation of the monitoring content, the composition of the multisensor network is determined. This paper is applicable to large-scale construction projects. Through the research and design of hardware modules, software modules, and fusion algorithms, the data acquisition, transmission, calculation, and display functions of the monitoring system based on multisensor network information fusion are realized, which can effectively monitor the entire process of large-scale construction projects.

Streszczenie:
The article considers the issue of improving the efficiency of educational information acquisition by future electrical engineering students. Several methods for forming the timetable of tutorials are analyzed, which ensure the increase of fundamental and practical knowledge levels, the ability to work with technical equipment, and solve non-standard situations that might happen in working conditions. Streamlining of tutorials timetable was proved by the main principle of optimization of this process. The research was carried out on the example of teaching technical subjects of study to students during the academic semester. Subjects of the study were taught cyclically within two weeks. Processing of the results was carried out by methods of mathematical modeling and harmonic analysis. The obtained results were verified using a cybernetic model of the learning process by introducing the proposed optimal timetable of tutorials into the general timetable of classes. The survey proved the efficiency of educational information acquisition by electrical engineering students. As criteria for evaluating the efficiency of educational information acquisition, it is proposed to consider the mathematical expectation and dispersion of acquisition on the cycle interval. Based on the optimization approach and using the methods of harmonic analysis and mathematical modeling, the principle of increasing the efficiency of assimilation of educational information by electrical students, i.e. placing different forms of organization of training in a stable schedule, is determined. It has been proven that the introduction of additional consultations into the schedule according to the developed principle allows to even out the discreteness of information delivery, which increases the mathematical expectation of learning by 50% and reduces the variance by 1.8 times, significantly increasing the level of student training. Key words: human and machine systems, information acquisition, information presentation schedule, dispersion, cybernetic model.

Streszczenie:
Automatic Train Systems (ATSs) have attracted much attention in recent years. A reliable ATS can reschedule timetables adaptively and rapidly whenever a possible disturbance breaks the original timetable. Most research focuses the timetable rescheduling problem on minimizing the overall delay for trains or passengers. Few have been focusing on how to minimize the energy consumption when disturbances happen. In this paper, a real-time timetable rescheduling method (RTTRM) for energy optimization of metro systems has been proposed. The proposed method takes little time to recalculate a new schedule and gives proper solutions for all trains in the network immediately after a random disturbance happens, which avoids possible chain reactions that would attenuate the reuse of regenerative energy. The real-time feature and self-adaptability of the method are attributed to the combinational use of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Deep Neural Network (DNN). The decision system for proposing solutions, which contains multiple DNN cells with same structures, is trained by GA results. RTTRM is upon the foundation of three models for metro networks: a control model, a timetable model and an energy model. Several numerical examples tested on Shanghai Metro Line 1 (SML1) validate the energy saving effects and real-time features of the proposed method.

Streszczenie:
Abstract Technology is the science that studies processes, methods and operations run or applied onto raw materials, matters or data, in order to obtain a certain product. Information is the material signal able to launch a material reaction of a dynamic auto-tuning system for which the system is conditioned and finalized. Information Technology is the technology needed for handling (procuring, processing, storing converting and transmitting) information, in particular, with the use of computers [Longley, D. & Shain, M. (1985), p. 164]. The importance of IT in the economic growth and development is widely known, taking into account the impact that technology can have on the success and survival, or the failure of the economic activity of enterprises/organizations, IT offering various management information systems (MIS), executive and feedback segments, which all have important and beneficial implications in management and control.
