The main purpose of the article is to look at the doctrine of Gregory the Great and explore his teaching on the means, through which a Christian can advance spiritually, i.e. achieve a spiritual unity with God. According to the teaching of Gregory the Great, a hu- man being in his/her nature constantly pursues God. To realize human natural longing, the human needs the assistance of God’s grace. The human should consent to the cooperation with God’s grace. First of all, one should discover and wake up in one’s self the longing for God, which is the force d’être of every spiritual development. This longing for God is a state of the introductory unity with God. To improve and solidify this longing human’s should purify it from the earthly devotion, then spiritually improve one’s self in the reading of the Holy Scripture, model one’s self after the life of just people, pray, make use of sacramental grace, observe the commandments of God, and do good deeds.

Love in Islam: Analysis of Concepts and Contexts based on Translation Love is the noblest human feeling, the dimension of affliction and longing par excellence. In the Islamic context, studious, sages and poets have shone since ancient times; they praised and experienced intense moments of this distinguished human sentiment. Among them, great personalities stand out who shaped it in their writings, experiences and adventures, such as Ibn Ḥazm of Córdoba, author of The Dove Necklace or Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyya author of Rawḍat al muhibbīn wa nuzhat al muṣtāqīn (Garden of lovers and walk of the longing), in addition to the great Sufi sheikhs. ABSTRACTThis article is concerned with the longing for home of British soldiers during the First World War. What, it asks, can such longings reveal about the psychological impact of trench warfare? Historians have differed in the significance that they ascribe to domestic attachments. Some argue that a ‘cultural chasm’ developed between the fronts, producing anger and disillusionment among soldiers which would surface fully fledged after the war, while others assert the continuing vitality of the links with home. Evidence for both these perceptions can be found in the letters written by British soldiers to their families. The functions of nostalgia could range from reassurance or momentary relief from boredom and impersonal army routines, through flight from intolerable anxiety, to survival through the power of love. Although animated by solitude, nostalgia provided a means of communication with loved ones. Its emotional tones varied according to the soldier's age and the nature of his attachments to home. The young soldier's reminiscences of home conveyed, not just the comforting past, but the hateful present. Nostalgia, being rooted in early memories of care, could be a potent vehicle for arousing the anxieties of loved ones, especially mothers. Among married men, the desire to return to wives and children could provide a powerful motivation for survival. This analysis suggests a different and more varied account of the genesis of the ‘disillusionment story’ of the war than is put forward in some recent studies. Among men of the ‘war generation’ particularly, disillusionment was not only a post-war construction, an artefact of cultural memory, but a powerful legacy of the emotional experience of the war itself.

“Literature is the art of discovering something extraordinary about ordinary people and saying with ordinary words something extraordinary.” says -Boris Pasternak. Several literary works engage readers deeply by the narratives they tell or the messages they convey. Readers are consistently motivated by biographies of notable people as well as true tales of bravery, selflessness, and other admirable traits. Such books act as both a bible of values and a window into the life of notable people for the general public. The main types of literature: Drama, Fable, Autobiography, Biography, Poetry, Prose, Science Fiction, and Journalistic Literature. Poetry is a great motivator when we try to learn it. It is rich in tradition, culture and language and gives a great opportunity to learn a language. The main function of poetry is to interpret life. There are poets who have pictured death as both a friend and an enemy. Some claim that passing away can provide relief from troubles and anguish, while others claim that it is cruel and robs a person of the fun and pleasure the world has to offer. In this paper, an attempt has been made to present Christina Rossetti’s longingness to be remembered even after death that separates her from her lover in the poem “Remember”.

Tchaikovsky was a great musician in Russia during the Romantic period. Due to his melodic works, he was known as the "master of melody" in Russia and received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. His creative genres cover a wide range of opera, dance, symphonies, concertos, and piano works. His music incorporates the characteristics of folk songs and his works reflect the oppressive psychology of the Russian people under the Tsar's rule, as well as their longing and longing for a better life in the future. He is committed to revealing the conflicting emotions within people's hearts. His later works are full of strong dramatic conflicts, his own thoughts on life, and fiery emotional colors. This article takes Tchaikovsky's piano suite "Four Seasons" as the text, and analyzes the ethnic characteristics of Tchaikovsky's works from the perspective of ethnology, using acoustic methods. The aim is to clarify the ethnic colors in "The Four Seasons" and reveal the profound ethnic connotations in Tchaikovsky's music works by utilizing elements such as harmony and melody.

This thesis concentrates on two discrete contexts in which Jewish and imperial concerns converged: the Boer War and the British Mandate for Palestine. For Britain's Jews, the Boer War represented a rare and uncomfortable moment in which the Jewish Question achieved relative prominence. However the war also generated a different set of 'Jewish questions', leading the Anglo-Jewish establishment to refine its own understanding of patriotic and imperial duty. The case of Palestine, by contrast produced less straightforward and predictable outcomes. Ottoman entry into World War I, which prompted both British and Zionist considerations into the merits of a Jewish homeland as part of the imperial system, created an acute conflict for British Jewry's communal leadership. Although not negating the advantages of a British-Jewish Palestine either to the Empire or to Jews in need of refuge, its decision to oppose the Balfour Declaration privileged at some cost a distinctive reading of Jewish interests over a more obvious synthesis of national and sectarian goals. Despite continued objections to Zionism's ideological outlook and its pursuit of statehood, the Anglo-Jewish establishment located in the interwar development of a British-Jewish Palestine a means to advance both Jewish communal and imperial agendas. As the alliance between the Zionists and Britain unravelled in the final decade of the Mandate, British Jews eager to safeguard their position as well as their vision of Palestine's future would persist in defending this relationship. In its exploration of the evolution of Anglo-Jewish attitudes towards Britain, the Empire and Mandatory Palestine, this thesis aims to address both thematic and chronological gaps in the historiography of Anglo-Jewry. By drawing attention to the uniqueness of Anglo-Jewry's imperial connection to Palestine and to the domestic impact of British involvement, my work also contributes to scholarship on Zionism and the Mandate Finally, it offers a framework for considering the impact of, and relationship to, Empire of minority groups residing in Britain.

Streszczenie:
With a dramatic decrease of biodiversity as a result of the increase in exploitation of marine ecosystems, the establishment of marine protected areas (MPAs) serves as an important means of protecting those resources. Although there is support for the effectiveness of these MPAs and MPA networks, there is room for improvement in terms of MPA management and design. For example, a better understanding of the dispersal dynamics of targeted species across these MPAs will serve as a more accurate means of reserve as well as fisheries management. While there have been many methods used to determine the larval dispersal of a certain species, parentage analysis is becoming the most robust. In this thesis, I attempt to determine the patterns of self-recruitment and larval dispersal of the Longfin Grouper (Epinephelus quoyanus) in one focal marine reserve within the Great Keppel Island group through the method of parentage. For this, I developed 14 microsatellite markers and with those, genotyped 610 adults as well as 478 juveniles from the study site. These genotypes allowed me to assign offspring to their potential parents, which then allowed me to measure the self-recruitment, local retention as well as larval dispersal percentages of this species from and within the reserve. My results indicate that there is 32% local retention to the reserve while 68% of the assigned juveniles were dispersed to other areas (4% of which dispersed to another reserve). Previous studies conducted in the same area showed higher reserve self-recruitment rates for both Plectropomus maculatus (~30%) and Lutjanus carponotatus (64%) despite their similar life history traits. The results from this study add to the growing evidence that dispersal patterns cannot be generalized across marine systems or even between species within a single system.

The Cloud of Longing is a full-length study and translation of the great Sanskrit poet Kālidāsa’s famed Meghadūta (literally: The Cloud Messenger) with a focus on its interfacing of nature, feeling, figurative language, and mythic memory. While the Meghadūta has been translated a number of times, the last “almost academic” translation was published in 1976 (Leonard Nathan, The Transport of Love: The Meghadūta of Kālidāsa). Barbara Stoler Miller, my graduate mentor at Columbia University, oftentimes remarked that it was time for a new translation of the text. This volume, however, is more than an Indological translation. It is a study of the text in light of both classical Indian and contemporary Western literary theory, and it is aimed at lovers of poetry and poetics and students of world literature. It seeks to widen the arena of literary and poetic studies to include classic works of Asian traditions. It also looks at the poem’s imaginative portrayals of “nature” and “environment” from perspectives that have rarely been considered.

In the poetic legacy of Vladimir Vysockij, feelings of nostalgia are expressed in diverse ways, conveying various shades of boredom, longing, and melancholy. A special role is played in Vysockij's oeuvre by the so-called “longing for a heroic era”, which is sometimes expressed explicitly, but more often found in the implicit representation of “longing for a heroic deed”. Vysockij's conception of the heroic deed or feat (podvig) casts this as a moral and spiritual state that contrasts sharply with the surrounding world and with everyday life. While Vysockian "longing for a heroic deed" can be associated with specific geographic contexts (including mountains, the taiga, glaciers in the North), this articles argues that it was the peculiar chronotope of the Great Patriotic War that served as the quintessential context for the heroic feat in Vysockij's universe.

The opening verses of the poem reveal very conscious strategy that is less of a beginning then a continuation of Epic and Purāṇic concerns. The entire journey of the Cloud, in fact, follows that of the great epic Rāmāyaṇa. The early verses of the poem also reveal Kālidāsa’s concern with the issue of how language generates meaning, as the Cloud may be viewed as language itself through its changing forms and figures. The conventional theme of the anguished ridden lover, pining in longing for the beloved, is seen through its relationship with specific landscapes. The chapter ends with a metaphysical look at the ways of “truth and silence”: the inability of any form of language to touch reality versus the potential of poetic figures to rise above the literal into greater spheres of signification.

Catherine of Siena thought that fire was the best image for describing God’s nature, as well as the longing within her for union with God’s fiery love. Fire, says Bachelard, is both a domestic element (symbolic of warmth, love, and the hearth) and an unruly element (wild, threatening, attacking from without). In alchemy, fire is that catalyst for change. In religious symbolism, it signifies the transformative power of the divine and the flaming passion of human desire. Both can be as dangerous as they are life-changing. The author explores this nature archetype as he backpacks through a recently burned forest in Wyoming. He points the reader to Catherine’s “fire of holy desire” continually burning within her. Fire was her favorite element—full of life, intensity, brilliance, death, and danger. She knew God above everything else to be a fire of love. This is what set her aflame. “If you are what you should be,” she wrote to a friend, “you will set the world on fire.”

Thus, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) operated the POW camps directly in order to address the need for a new type of internment that arose during the post-war era. The chapter then looks into the role of modernization and internationalization of humanitarianism during the Great War and its aftermath.

The article examines the functioning of ancient Russian artistic images and motifs in the poetry of Arseny Tarkovsky during the Great Patriotic War. The appeal to this motives and images fits modern events into the historical context, helps to create a general picture linking the past and present of the country. The author is particularly in demand for the images of Igor and Yaroslavna from “The Word about Igor's Regiment”, he reinterprets and re-creates images taking into account the new situation. Yaroslavna turns into a symbol of love, sadness, longing, memory, in her image everything opposes war and cruelty. In the poems of 1941-1946 there are references to the Horde invasion. Images of invaders appear in the lines of the poems associatively, intuitively: these are mongols, “tatarva”, Mamai. Poems about the war are devoid of pictures of battle, descriptions of cruel and destructive consequences, their main theme is the theme of love (not only between a man and a woman, but also love for the motherland) and memory, the connection of the past, present and future. Overestimating the cultural and historical material Arseny Tarkovsky fills the famous images with a new, universal sound.

ABSTRACT Accurate and real-time prediction of formation pore pressure is critical to ensure drilling safety. However, the performance of the most traditional formation pore pressure calculation methods are not satisfied in field applications due to their limited accuracy and time-effectiveness. In this paper, a novel artificial intelligence model is proposed to accurately predict formation pore pressure in real-time. First, the dataset for model training is prepared after handling the outliers and missing values of the drilling and logging data, which collected from 12 wells in Tarim Basin. And the logging data of the offset well is used to develop a logging data prediction model for the well under drilling based on the error Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN). Then, a hybrid model is created by combining the Long Short-Term Memory Neural Network (LSTM) and the BPNN. Finally, the hybrid LSTM-BP model is trained and validated on the drilling and logging dataset, and the grid search algorithm is used to optimize the hyperparameters of the model. The hybrid LSTM-BP model is utilized to estimate formation pore pressure by inputting the drilling data of the well under drilling and longing data of the BPNN model predicted. The results indicate that the relative error of formation pore pressure prediction is less than 10%. This paper provides an accurate method to predict formation pore pressure in real-time, which is of great significance for maintaining the stability of the wellbore and ensuring the safety of drilling. INTRODUCTION Formation pore pressure is the pressure of the fluid in the formation, which is one of the most crucial fundamental data in the process of petroleum exploration and development, and a crucial foundation for the design of drilling plans and the analysis of wellbore stability (Azadpour et al., 2015; de Souza et al., 2021). However, when formation pore pressure is predicted incorrectly, it can lead to drilling risks including gas invasion, kick, and even blowout, which may result in enormous financial losses such as in the Deepwater Horizon tragedy. Therefore, accurate prediction of formation pore pressure in the process of drilling is conducive to ensuring drilling safety, improving rate of penetration (ROP), protecting the reservoir, and improving oil and gas recovery (Lei and Jie, 2004).
