In this paper we look at the suitability of modern interval-based temporal logic for modeling John Buridan’s treatment of tensed sentences in his Sophismata. Building on the paper (Øhrstrøm 1984), we develop Buridan’s analysis of temporal logic, paying particular attention to his notions of negation and the absolute/relative nature of the future and the past.We introduce a number of standard modern propositional interval temporal logics (ITLs) to illustrate where Buridan’s interval-based temporal analysis differs from the standard modern approaches. We give formal proofs of some claims in (Øhrstrøm 1984), and sketch how the standard modern systems could be defined in terms of Buridan’s proposals, showing that his logic can be taken as more basic. In diesem Aufsatz betrachten wir das Geeignetsein einer modernen intervallbasierten temporalen Logik für die Modellierung von John Buridans Behandlung zeitabhängiger Sätze in seinen Sophismata. Aufbauend auf den Aufsatz (Øhrstrøm 1984) stellen wir Buridans Analyse der temporalen Logik dar, mit besonderer Berücksichtigung seiner Begriffe der Negation und der absoluten/relativen Natur der Zukunft und der Vergangenheit. Wir führen einige standardmäßige moderne intervallbasierte temporale Aussagenlogiken (ITLs) ein, um zu illustrieren, wo Buridans intervallbasierte temporale Analyse von den standardmäßigen modernen Zugangsweisen abweicht. La variación temporal del índice NDVI predice los cambios temporales de la cobertura vegetal en las tierras secas de la Patagonia argentina. En las tierras secas, la vegetación natural es una fuente importante de sustento para las comunidades que viven en ellas, dado que la utilizan como alimento, combustible y forraje para el ganado. Además de los bienes y servicios que brinda a las comunidades, la vegetación de las tierras secas también juega un papel importante en muchos procesos ecosistémicos, como por ejemplo el reciclaje de nutrientes o la protección del suelo frente a la erosión. Por lo tanto, el monitoreo a largo plazo de la cobertura vegetal es clave para la toma de decisiones en la gestión de estas regiones. En este estudio, analizamos la variación de la cobertura vegetal en 239 sitios de una red de monitoreo a largo plazo (red MARAS), en uno de los biomas de tierras secas más grandes del mundo: la estepa patagónica argentina. A continuación, la relacionamos con la variación de diferentes períodos del Índice de Vegetación de Diferencia Normalizada (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, NDVI), obtenido del sensor MODIS, que sirve como variable predictora. El modelo empírico ajustado explicó hasta un 40% de la variación en la cobertura vegetal medida a campo. Con este sencillo modelo empírico hemos estimado y cartografiado los cambios temporales en la cobertura vegetal de un extenso bioma de tierras secas a bajo coste.

Exposure to rhythmic stimulation results in facilitated responses to events that appear in-phase with the rhythm and modulation of anticipatory and target-evoked brain activity, presumably reflecting “exogenous,” unintentional temporal expectations. However, the extent to which this effect is independent from intentional processes is not clear. In two EEG experiments, we isolated the unintentional component of this effect from high-level, intentional factors. Visual targets were presented either in-phase or out-of-phase with regularly flickering colored stimuli. In different blocks, the rhythm could be predictive (i.e., high probability for in-phase target) or not, and the color could be predictive (i.e., validly cue the interval to the target) or not. Exposure to nonpredictive rhythms resulted in faster responses for in-phase targets, even when the color predicted specific out-of-phase target times. Also, the contingent negative variation, an EEG component reflecting temporal anticipation, followed the interval of the nonpredictive rhythm and not that of the predictive color. Thus, rhythmic stimulation unintentionally induced expectations, even when this was detrimental. Intentional usage of predictive rhythms to form expectations resulted in a stronger behavioral effect, and only predictive cues modulated the latency of the target-evoked P3, presumably reflecting stimulus evaluation. These findings establish the existence of unintentional temporal expectations in rhythmic contexts, dissociate them from intentional expectations, and highlight the need to distinguish between the source of expectation (exogenous–endogenous) and the level of voluntary control involved in it (unintentional–intentional).

In several industrial applications of planning, complex temporal metric trajectory constraints are needed to adequately model the problem at hand. For example, in production plants, items must be processed following a “recipe” of steps subject to precise timing constraints. Modeling such domains is very challenging in existing action-based languages due to the lack of sufficiently expressive trajectory constraints.We propose a novel temporal planning formalism allowing quantified temporal constraints over execution timing of action instances. We build on top of instantaneous actions borrowed from classical planning and add expressive temporal constructs. The paper details the semantics of our new formalism and presents a solving technique grounded in classical, heuristic forward search planning. Our experiments prove the proposed framework superior to alternative state-of-theart planning approaches on industrial benchmarks, and competitive with similar solving methods on well known benchmarks took from the planning competition.

Este trabalho retoma questões abertas em Soares (2005), trabalho em que afrmamos que caberia investigar se o tempo em Ticuna (Tikuna), ao invés de ser concebido como uma dimensão temporal construída a partir de operadores pertencentes a uma metalíngua, poderia ser visto como centrado na existência de entidades temporais na própria língua. Um tal questionamento leva necessariamente à busca por dados relativos à anáfora temporal e a fenômenos anafóricos de modo geral, colocando difculdades para uma abordagem do tempo a partir de operadores. Nosso principal objetivo neste artigo é, assim, verifcar a existência ou não de sequenciamento temporal (SOT) e, consequentemente, as possibilidades da anáfora temporal nessa língua.

Assim, pretende-se apurar no âmbito do Direito do Consumidor a perda do tempo e consequentemente o desvio produtivo do consumidor, demonstrando a recepção da doutrina e da jurisprudência. Com isso, verifica-se a mudança do paradigma da indústria do mero aborrecimento nas relações consumeristas. É ainda, apresentam-se as possíveis formas de compreensão do dano decorrente do desvio produtivo do consumidor. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica, sendo adotado o método dialético, com contraposição e comparação de teses doutrinárias para alcançar os objetivos almejados.
