Perez, Sebastian, Jorge Cabrera, Jose Rodriguez i Carlos Raymundo. "E-Government Adoption Model Extended with Public Value in Peru". Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc, 2019. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/656351.
Pełny tekst źródłaCurrently, due to the existing potential regarding technology in the provision of services, the Peruvian government has developed solutions for its inhabitants. A survey conducted by the United Nations in 2016 endorses this fact, showing a high rate of technological development with respect to e-government. However, the same publication showed the low rate of citizen participation about it. These results show how, although there are many government technological services, these do not focus on the citizen or in their active participation, but mainly on technological development. In the present study, an adoption model is proposed, extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) incorporating public value, specifically environmental sustainability, as an external variable. The validation of the proposal was made through a validated survey with experts in the environmental field and applied to citizens of the Peruvian capital. Our results show that environmental sustainability is a factor that positively affects the adoption of e-government in Peru and that should be considered by the authorities as an enhancer of citizen participation about it.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis describes effects of use and reasons for using three different organisational innovations: ISO 9000, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and an administrative tool (the YAF-module) in the Swedish Sports Confederation’s system Swedish Sports Online. This is done through three separate studies. The first study is directed at Swedish Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) and the two following studies are directed at Swedish sport associations. The thesis contains three separate essays presenting the studies and an introductory part where the studies are compared.
In the introductory part of the thesis the interaction patterns between organisation and innovation are compared and discussed. I discuss the level of effort put into the decision and implementation processes, and how this is related to the satisfaction with the innovations. The patterns that emerged are quite different in the three studies. Understanding these different interaction patterns between organisation and innovation is a step away from a beneficial/ detrimental dichotomy of innovations.
The decision and implementation processes differ between the three studies regarding what parts of the organisations were involved. In the first study we saw top down decision and implementation processes, whereas in the second study we saw bottom or middle up processes. In the third study the decision and implementation was much narrower in scope, often involving only one person. I also describe how all perspectives (efficient choice, forced selection, fad and fashion perspective) suggested by Abrahamson (1991), bear some grain of truth for the adoption of ISO 9000 by SMEs and adoption of ICT by sport associations, whereas imitation (the fad and fashion perspectives) is less important in the adoption of the YAF-module. Furthermore, I discuss the parallels between human and organisational decisionmaking.
Summary of the first essay – The aim of the first study is to investigate the effects of quality management in accordance with the ISO 9000 as viewed by both quality managers and other managers. We also consider the way companies carried out the recertification process to ISO 9001:2000 and what consequences different approaches brought. The study is based on Swedish SMEs with an ISO 9000:1994 who had recertified according to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. The strongest, most obvious and most valued effects of the ISO 9000 standard are clearer and more apparent working procedures and responsibilities. The most apparent problem is bureaucracy, which according to some managers can lead to reduced flexibility. The effects of the certification vary depending on how the certification project is conducted and how consultants are used.
Summary of the second essay – This essay presents a descriptive study of the use of information and communication technology (ICT) and the change in communication patterns in Swedish sport associations over the period 1994 to 2003. The change is discussed in light of Internet and broadband diffusion. Results show that new channels for communication have been adopted, primarily Web sites and e-mail, but few established channels have been dropped. While there are associations that save time and money and increase the spirit of community using ICT, many organisations experience the increased number of communication channels as a burden since maintaining them takes extra resources but the benefits are not always easy to detect or measure. Certain characteristics common among non profit organisations (NPOs) as well as Internet and broadband access have influenced the development of ICT use.
Summary of the third essay – This essay presents a new model for analysing adoption of discretionary, public information systems (PIS) with digital use patterns (such as use or non-use, as opposed to frequency of use, or degree of engaged or compliant use). The model is based on Rogers’ innovation diffusion theory (IDT) and Nilsson’s user centred access model (UCAM). The model is an alternative to the general technology acceptance model (TAM). The AKAM-Model identifies six prerequisites for use and four management approaches and describes how these are related. To illustrate its applicability, the AKAM-Model is used to analyse the adoption of a specific module, the YAF-module, in the Swedish Sports Confederation’s (SSC) system Swedish Sports Online. We present empirical results that indicate the frequency and importance of the barriers and driving forces as experienced by the YAF-module users and the potential YAF-module users.

Pełny tekst źródłaCloud computing emerges when we talk about the necessity of the IT developers to always increase or add new capabilities, as soon as possible, with the lowest investment possible. It has been appointed as one of the biggest IT innovations in the recent years, and for that reason it’s been calling the attention of the academic and management communities. Even with the growing interest by the academic community, most of the research focus on technical aspects, such as computational potencial and costs. Researches involving professionals’ preferences with cloud computing as a business tool are limited to consultant and private studies at most. This research has the purpose of presenting a study about the impact of different dimensions in the intention of adoption of cloud computing by IT professionals. To do so, it uses a variation of the TAM/UTAUT model for the verification of the intention of adopting new technologies. The research method is the survey research, made with a previously proposed and adapted instrument, conducted in two stages: pre-test study and final study. Different statistical techniques were used to refine the instrument, such as Reliability Analisis, Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, this one using the PLS (Partial Least Squares) Path modeling for SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). As a result of this refinement, emerged a theorical research model containing 8 dimensions and 36 measuring items. As contribution to the IS area, the theorical model proved adequate to assess the intention of adoption of cloud computing by IT professionals. The research’s main contribution to the business practice is the model of cloud computing intention of adoption, that aids cloud providers, trought the measurement of the main reasons behind the adoption of the technology, wich are Perceived Utility and Attitude Towards Technology Innovation. Also demonstrates that there are no positive relation between Security and Trust and the Behaviorial Intention. Twelve of the hypothesis were sustained, and six of the proposed hypothesis were denied by the data. This information intends to inspire efforts in developing the technology as a business tool.

Pełny tekst źródłaSeveral studies on the acceptance and use of information technology have been conducted by different conceptual models that seek to demonstrate the existence of factors that influence the intention and behavior of users on a particular information system. Some aspects that enhance the use of intentions can be essential for the individual to choose whether or not a particular technology. This study examined the background factors that can influence the intended use of the Virtual Library of an Institution of Higher Education. Among the conceptual models studying the adoption of information technology, it was decided in this study the use of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) proposed by Davis (1986). In this model the external variables were also added stimulus Professor and smoker in order to expand the power of explanation of the intended use of the users in question. Through a quantitative research approach, data were collected through a survey tool to obtain 406 questionnaires responses. The results of this research confirms that the influence of various factors positioned in different dimensions provide findings relevant to the adoption of virtual library. It concludes that the Teacher Incentive positively influences Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness and the Habit of undergraduate students on the intended use of the Virtual Library. Thus, it was found that the influence of the teacher becomes a determining factor in the use of virtual library intention, which emphasizes the importance of guidance and recommendation of teachers in the use of this technological tool. The study concluded that the perceived usefulness proved to be the factor that most influences the intention to use this technology because there is a perception that if the student will use the virtual library, you can improve your performance in studies, among others. The habit can also influence the adoption of a virtual library in parallel to perceptions about the benefits that can be obtained from the use of this technology.

Pełny tekst źródłaCloud Computing is a model that has brought revolutionary changes in the way Information Technology (IT) is distributed. As benefits, it stands out the feasibility of fast access possible from anywhere to resources made available as on-demand services that help to create new business models. However, with IT assets outside the organization, interest in adoption studies have increased. The literature describes the use of several adoption models, among which are the Technology-Acceptance-Model (TAM) and the Technology-Organizational-environment (TOE). One research used the TAM-TOE combination and revealed a good degree of prediction to justify adoptions, but indicated the need for case studies to better understanding of adoptions in other contexts, raising the question: how should the process of adopting cloud computing occur regarding organizational and environmental questions? A systematic literature review was conducted to confirm research gaps and to broaden the TAM-TOE model, highlighting elements of institutional theory and its influence in the adoption process. This is a qualitative, descriptive and structured research using multiple case studies, with unit of analysis defined by the study of the process of adopting a cloud service in a large company characterized as support in the IT strategic grid model. Seven units were analyzed by addressing institutional pressures on top management, service evaluations and contract licensing terms. The study contributes to the elucidation of different behaviors of the institutional pressures on the top management in the decision making for its adoption, emphasizing the coercive mechanisms. It exposes situations in which the service management might require the participation of IT in the traditional way and the discussion of contractual aspects about the licensing of services. Finally, a reflection on the use of the model, method and limitations of the research is presented, indicating future studies.

Pełny tekst źródłaThe present research aims to understand the end user involvement in the Information System (IS) development influence in IS adoption by proposing and testing a specific theoretical model. A systematic review was carried out in which 133 articles were analyzed and its result is a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) modification proposition. This model includes variables related to the user's involvement: situational involvement and intrinsic involvement. Afterwards, the test of the proposed model was carried out from a survey with 114 respondents, whose data were analyzed through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The test allowed inferring that the hypotheses raised were correct and that user involvement is significant within IS adoption context. Finally, a fractional factorial design of experiments (DOE) with seven factors was done to verify how two types of involvement are related. It was evidenced that the composition of the effect of situational involvement major factors and double interactions explains up to 57% of intrinsic involvement variation The main theoretical contributions of the dissertation are about the consistency provided by the methods used. The theoretical subsidy provided by the systematic review allowed development of theoretical relations with safety. The combined EFA and CFA use is strongly indicated to give robustness to the research. Likewise, SEM presented significant utility in research context, although it is indicated caution when making model modifications to fit analysis quality parameters. Finally, fractional factorial DOE with seven factors is uncommon in the literature, but it was extra useful to verify interaction quality between types of involvement.

In this study, the research model based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) (DAVIS et al., 1989) and innovation diffusion theory (IDT) (ROGERS, 2003) was used to analyze the relation between the characteristics of innovation and teacher s behavior in the process of adoption and use of Moodle in the undergraduate courses at distance. Survey was applied with 162 teachers at distance of Universidade Federal da Paraíba Virtual, issue focusing on the perceived characteristics of innovation, attitude and intention about the use of Moodle. Multivariate statistical techniques were performed: 1) content-vality to analyze the complete structure of scale for relevance and representativeness of items and to verify which items refer to construct in question; 2) exploratory factory analysis to know the structure of interrelationship of the original variables of IDT; 3) confirmatory factor analysis to guarantee conceptual validity for the pattern observed; 4) coefficient alpha to verify the homogeneity of set of items; 5) ANOVA to verify the likely differences between the groups of respondents; and 6) multiple regression analysis to analyze the relation between constructs. Results showed that not all factors of IDT had effect on attitude and intention. Only three constructs had significant effect on attitude and/or intention: relative advantage+compatibility for work style (β = 0,792), visibility (β = 0,166) and result demonstrability (β = 0,152). Moreover, teachers had a positive attitude in relation to use of Moodle and a positive intention in relation to use in the future. It was not possible to confirm all the relation of TAM, probably this verification was been compromised for some problems in the measurement process, thus, the only unsupported relationship of TAM was the effect of complexity on attitude. An academic contribution was that although some constructs of IDT did not show effect on the constructs of TAM, the model provided evidence of appropriated application of constructs of TAM with IDT to measure attitude and intention of use of Moodle. A management contribution was the understanding and prediction the teacher s behavior in relation to adoption and use process of Moodle, being possible to verify the effectiveness of innovative project of distance learning in the UFPB Virtual.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis research work investigates and reports on the contribution of usability and perceptual frameworks towards understanding and ultimately increasing usage of a sales website and a corporate marketing website for a major insurance company in South Africa. It investigates whether the application of usability principles to the sales web positively influences the usage of the sales web system as a tool by intermediaries, and in so doing help the organisation recoup their investment and lower operational costs. This financial services (traditionally insurance) company, like many organisations, is in the process of migrating key operational systems onto web platforms to take advantage of benefits such as the ubiquity of web access and services orientated architecture among others. The research reviewed key frameworks in the area of technology acceptance or usage namely ï· Nielsenâs usability attributes (Nielsen, 2003) ï· The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), (Davis, 1989)
ï· The Theory of Reasoned Action (Fishbein &
Ajzen, 1975) ï· The Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1985)
and derived a theoretical summative model (the Conceptual Research Model) that combined both usability and perceptual dimensions. The applicability of this summative model was empirically tested using quantitative data relating to system
usage and user perception. Empirical evidence was gathered to prove and refine the Conceptual Research Model (CRM), and the data substantiated the inclusion of the constructs in the CRM, as well as the efficacy of the model in a financial services organisation. Through testing of the CRM, this research has also confirmed which specific attributes of usability can be focussed on to bring about positive change in usersâ usage behaviour and adoption of a website or web application.

Pełny tekst źródłaOrganizations spend billions of dollars on information and data security, and most of this expenditure is directed externally; however, there is ample evidence in the literature that employees account for most security breaches. For information security (IS) measures to work, employees need to adopt the organization’s information system security measures. To understand employees’ adoption of security systems in the manufacturing industry in the US, this empirical study tested the extended Technology Acceptance model and Theory of Planned behavior in relation to employees’ perceptions of the IS measures usefulness, ease of use, and subjective norms and how these perceptions predicted their intention to use the security measures. Additionally, under investigation was whether age and employees’ perception of managerial support moderated the aforementioned perceptions to affect employees’ intention to use the security measures. Results of a standard multiple regression and a hierarchical regression indicated that the TAM and the TBP explained variances in the DV; however, contrary to extant literature, employees’ perceived usefulness of IS measures did not statistically significantly predict their intention to use IS measures. Implications of these findings are discussed, as well as recommendations for future research.

Pełny tekst źródłaExecutives and directors are seeking to transform their enterprises into more efficient operations to achieve a competitive advantage and increase shareholder value. In addition, modern enterprises are deploying new technologies to attain the desired efficiencies inherently promised by technology advancements. However, the transformation and technology adoption results vary considerably between failure and success. Therefore, to identify an efficient and consistent method for guiding transformation efforts, we conducted a literature review of the technology adoption models, enterprise transformations, systems of systems, and human factors to identify efforts directed at integrating these research areas. This holistic approach guided the research method in which we subsequently conducted a qualitative action research case study to identify the influencers of technology adoption factors. The results of the case study identified the factors of human perception (salience, effort, expectancy, and value) are key influencers that accelerate technology adoption during the deployment phase similar to the application of human factors during the development phase of the technology lifecycle. These influencers generate perceived value for the technology and tools employed during enterprise transformations. Furthermore, we propose a model for using technological capabilities to enhance enterprise transformations based on context, process-based work instructions, work-instruction-based training, and subject-matter-expert desk-side support. Consequently, we determined that this perceived value technology adoption model should be a preferred tool for new technology deployments in addition to updating existing deployed technology for increased value that can be leveraged for lasting enterprise transformations.

Nowadays, enterprises facing the global competition should directly or indirectly keep a close contact with the international market. Service quality and cost controls are becoming critical successful factors to business operations and collecting both internal and external information can help managers make better business decisions. Therefore, enterprises need a multi-functional integrated system to better control the speed in production lines, product delivery status, cash flow, and etc. to meet customers’ requirement as soon as possible. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system was known as a top solution for enterprise in the economic environment because of its benefits. In the 21st century, ERP becomes one of the required information infrastructures for big enterprises to choose their suppliers. However, a successful adoption of ERP system depends on lots of factors in technology, organizational culture and employee training. Human factors are always considered the most important factors impacting the adoption of ERP system. Due to this reason, the study tries to understand users’ behaviors when an organization adopts an ERP system. Based on the well-known Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study will analyze drivers for users to adopt the EPR system. The case company in the empirical study is an international textile company headquartered in Taiwan. Findings in the study may help organizations in similar industries make better decisions in adopting ERP systems.

Taiwan’s five terrestrial television stations started their process of digital conversion in 1998, and all the terrestrial television stations have finished their digitalization in 2004. However, most people in Taiwan do not feel a need to have digital television, which has greatly slowed down the diffusion process of digital terrestrial television in Taiwan. This study adopted the technology acceptance model (TAM) as theoretical framework to examine the factors that influenced the adoption of digital terrestrial television in Taiwan. A telephone survey with 300 valid interviews was used to collect data for this study. The data analysis shows that most assumptions proposed by TAM were supported except that social norms did not have a significant effect on the adoption intention. More findings are discussed in this thesis.

Since Brett King proposed the concept of digital Bank 3.0. in 2012, new online banking services were created and developed by the bankers as Fin Tech has emerged. In Taiwan, the Financial Supervisory Commission R.O.C. (Taiwan) has also released a number of regulations about new financial online services in order to build a better environment for Fin Tech development. It is obvious that the time of Fin Tech has come and the traditional business mode of banking industry is changing. However, are Taiwanese people ready to change whatever they used to think about traditional banking services and to accept a new online service mode? This study intends to explore consumer behaviors and their attitudes toward the online and mobile banking services. We hope the results of this study can provide bankers with management implications and suggestions. This study used the framework of Technology Acceptance Model to investigate consumer behaviors and attitudes toward the online and mobile banking services. Different from previous research, this study examined the moderating effects of consumers’ perceived risks and subjective norm in the TAM model as well. In order to verify the research framework and hypothesis, this study used an online questionnaire instrument to collect data for analysis and 250 valid questionnaires were collected from April 27 to May 8, 2018. The results indicate that Technology Acceptance Model can explains behaviors and attitudes of Taiwanese users toward online and mobile banking services. We found that consumers’ attitudes toward online and mobile banking services significantly influence their use intentions. Additionally, what they perceive about the new technology, i.e. perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, positively influence their attitudes and use intentions. The empirical results also support the hypothesis that perceived ease of use significantly influences perceived usefulness. That is, when consumers perceive the interfaces are easy to use, they will perceive the online banking services are useful. However, the result do not support the hypotheses as to the moderating effects of perceived risks and subjective norm. Instead, we found that perceived risks and subjective norm have direct effects on their use intentions. The results show that perceived risks negatively influences use intentions while subjective norm positively influence use intentions. Based on the above empirical results, this study proposes a modified model. According to the research results, the study proposed some implications and suggestions as follow. They include increasing the ease of use and usefulness of online and mobile interfaces, trying to decrease consumers’ perceived risks on the internet and mobile banking services, influencing personal subjective norms through advertising and financial advisors, so as to increase consumers’ attitudes and intentions to use the online and mobile banking services.

This study used the technology acceptance model as the theoretical framework and examined the adoption of tablet computers and smartphones in Taiwan. Based on the literature review, this study used four variables—perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, playfulness, and social norms—as independent variables to predict the adoption of the two technologies. Seven hypotheses were developed based on the expected relationships among the four independent variables and the adoption intentions. A telephone survey using CATI system was adopted to collect data for this study and 400 valid questionnaires with a response rate of 60% were obtained. The data analysis shows that most findings were congruent with those of past studies except that this study found that perceived usefulness was not related to the adoption of the two technologies. More findings were discussed in the thesis.

ABSTRACT With the development of science and technology, the LED product with powerful functions comes into being. It can completely change the defects of general light source needed in the teaching process, but the teachers’ adoption intention of LED product are not high. The former researchers focus on the adoption intention of information technology integrating into primary school teaching. This study adopted the technology acceptance model (TAM) as theoretical framework to examine the factors that influenced the adoption intention of integrating LED into teaching of elementary schools. Based on the above research purpose, this study takes committees of elementary schools as research objects, and arranges related scale based on the literature results, and the data collected by questionnaire and purposive sampling is taken as sampling technique. Totally 221 questionnaires were sent out and 200 valid ones were retrieved. The research has discovered that (1)With diverse scale of schools, elementary school teachers’ adoption intention of LED product is not significantly different, but elementary school teachers who have more application experience of LED product more likely to integrate LED into teaching of elementary schools; (2) The basic hypothesis proposed by TAM were supported except that LED characteristic has no significant effect on the perceived easy using, and we guess that it is related to the LED products’ relative advantage, compatibility and complexity. (3)The external variables have significant effect on internal beliefs except that LED characteristic has no significant effect on the perceived easy using, and organizational factors have the most powerful effect on perceived easy using and perceived usefulness. Key words: Technology Acceptance Model, LED, Perceived Easy Using, Perceived Usefulness, Adoption Intention.

Medical technology advances, extend the human life, mature age group become a new force for the consumer market. The late-middle-aged adults were distinctive features or social life, mostly in the dominant level, the research focus on prospective seniors in this study. Regarding the consumer research were currently on the elder and more focus on food, housing, transportation, education, entertainment and other related field, Studies on the clothing was seldom. In addition to shelter and beautiful, there are many new functional textiles developed from health-oriented, when elderly decline of bodily functions, The functional apparel meet the needs of their physical and mentality comfort both. According the definition from The Silk Association: Technical textiles can be divided into functional clothing and industrial textiles, The characteristics of functional clothing, Some functional effects cannot be appear immediately, The Technology Acceptance Model of cognition and cognitive by easy and useful mode, the acceptance of behavior of high-tech products have a good explanatory power for seniors for the prospective use of functional clothing behavior. Based on the literatures of the external variables has been assumed the risk perception of beauty and appearance, and the Technology Acceptance Model 2's subjective norms to influence intention to use the three main reason. This study confirmed that perceived risk and intended use are negatively correlated with subjective norm, and the aesthetic appearance are positively correlated with intention, broadly in line with the hypotheses, especially through the use and usefulness of knowledge is more significant mediating effect of cognition. The Technology Acceptance Model to explore the use of quasi-functional clothing for seniors use behavior, complementing the technology acceptance model in the industry have neglected the study of the status of the textile apparel industry, and provide business market segmentation, marketing strategy, and product development of recommendations.

Most of the Taiwanese equip their own cell phones for mobile communication. According to the report by Gartner, more than 428 millions cell phones globally were sold in the second quarter of 2011, growing 16.5% comparing to the sales in the previous quarter. It is worth noting that 25% of the total cell phone sale is contributed by the sales of smartphones. Compared to the sales conventional cell phones, there is still plenty rooms for the smartphones to grow. In practice, people purchase the innovative smartphones may mix with rational considerations such as usefulness and ease of use and irrational behavior like propensity towards conformity. To explore the rational and irrational antecedents of intention to adopt smartphones, an integrated model is proposed. Specifically, the factors of perceived usefulness and ease of use from adoption theories, and informational influence and normative influence from conformity prospective were adopted to develop the proposed model. The data from the survey was analyzed using structural equation modeling. The analytical results show that all proposed factors have significantly influence on users in making decisions of purchasing smartphones. Meanwhile, non-experienced users would be more likely influenced by other smartphones users in adoption of smartphones. However, experienced users would be more likely to adopt smartphones based on the information collected previously. Thus, experienced users clearly know what they needs in smartphones; and thus, they would search related smartphone information and purchase an appropriate one after their assessment of innovative information.

Pełny tekst źródłaDigital payment methods (DPMs) are evolving fast but they are yet to be widely adopted particularly in the developing countries. An initial review of literature suggests that several studies have already been conducted on this topic for understanding antecedents of digital payments adoption. However, only a few studies have examined this emerging topic in the context of developing countries. The aim of this submission is to identify antecedents of consumer adoption and usage of digital payments methods. The results of this literature analysis suggest that constructs related to technology acceptance model (TAM) and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) along with trust and risk are the most frequently examined constructs for determining consumer’s behavioural intention to use and usage of DPMs. The findings from this work can help researchers selecting factors for inclusion in the future empirical works on this topic.
Mapande, Fhatuwani Vivian. "Users’ perceptions on security of mobile computing for adoption of e-applications in South Africa". Thesis, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/10352/422.
Pełny tekst źródłaThe advancement of technology, particularly in the area of mobile computing, revolutionizes the way business is done in many industries such as the education sector, government sector, financial institutions, retail sector and the way people conduct their daily activities. The current technology provides influential tools for organisations and can significantly influence their operation, structure and approach. The development of mobile computing has created a new innovation for various industries by increasing the availability, frequency and speed of communication between the organisations and the individuals. However, users’ perceptions can play an important role towards the adoption of these new developments. The overriding purpose of this study was to investigate the users’ perceptions on the security of mobile computing in South Africa for adoption of e-applications. The literature review was concentrated on the process of progressive development occurring during the study. To accomplish that goal it became necessary to reach some essential objectives i.e. investigating the users’ perceptions models in literature. For the purpose of the study, it was important to propose a research framework for users’ perceptions on the security of mobile computing with the potential for the adoption of e-applications in South Africa. The research evaluated the proposed framework to establish if there is any relationship between the e-application adoption factors. Furthermore, the hypotheses were tested to determine which factors would influence the adoption of e-applications in South Africa. Technology Adoption Model 2 (TAM2) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) provide the theoretical basis for explaining how users perceive e-application services that they access and operate through mobile computing. To achieve that, a quantitative study was conducted with South African residents, with respect to mobile security perceptions; 476 valid questionnaires were received from the participants who were selected non-randomly. Questionnaires were developed from the proposed research framework derived from DOI and TAM2 and the items were adopted from other prior technology adoption studies. Through the use of the survey instrument developed for this study, data were collected in order to address the importance of this study based on the problem statement posed in the first chapter of this dissertation. The valid questionnaires were analysed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Version 24.0. Reliability analysis, principal component analysis, correlations and multiple linear regression tests were conducted. Among other things this study made sure that ethical considerations are adhered to. The findings revealed positive relationships between perceived usefulness of security mechanisms, perceived ease of use of security mechanisms, subjective norm on security mechanisms, relative advantage of security mechanisms, compatibility of security mechanisms, complexity of security mechanisms, aesthetics of security mechanisms interface and intention to adopt e-applications. Furthermore, subjective norm on security mechanisms was strongly correlated to intention to adopt e-applications, complexity of security mechanisms strongly correlated to perceived usefulness of security mechanisms, relative advantage of security mechanisms and aesthetic of security mechanisms interface strongly correlated to perceived usefulness of security mechanisms. In addition, subjective norm of security mechanisms strongly influence intention to adopt eapplications in South Africa. Also, aesthetics of security mechanisms interface strongly influence both perceived usefulness of security mechanisms and perceived ease of use of security mechanisms. The reason behind it may be interpreted as users nowadays seeing the beauty as the platform to attract and encourage them to use e-applications. Finally, the proposed model analysis and survey evaluation will enable South African organizations to make informed decisions about the use of e-applications services. These findings contribute to a road map for the education sector, government sector, financial institutions, and retail sector as well as to encourage their customers or clients to adopt e-applications.
