Streszczenie:
During the past decade there has been an increasing interest in research within Not-for-Profit (NFP) organisations. Research has indicated that there are a number of characteristics that make NFPs different from other organisations. This paper considers whether workers within the NFP sector have different attitudes to technology and whether such differences affect the measures used within technology acceptance models. An exploratory study of workers within two NFPs indicated that workers within the service delivery functions of NFPs have different attitudes to technology than workers within the standard business functions of a NFP organisation e.g., marketing. These attitudes affected their perceptions of the use of and ease of technology.

Streszczenie:
Studying the acceptance and usage of technologies has become one of the most significant fields in software engineering domain. In order to explain the individuals' usage behavior towards technologies, many theories and models have been proposed over the years. This research paper focuses on reviewing a group of ten technology acceptance theories and models by studying their structure, evolution stages, and their strengths and weaknesses points. These theories were analyzed and classified into two main types depending on their development method and scientific field which they were developed in. This study reveals that these theories are almost similar in their structure, but different in explaining the behavioral intentions of technology. It considers that the best theory should be comprehensive and less complexity according to the number of the constructs and moderators which represent their structure. This will make the theory more understandable and applicable especially for studying the acceptance behavior for any new technology.

This article investigates how training public officials from two municipalities in Spain and Cyprus with new technologies affects three dependent variables: level of understanding of the technological innovation being introduced, its perceived usefulness, and its perceived ease-of-use. The tests to determine the impact of training were carried out by means of a self-constructed questionnaire within a repeated measure experimental design. The results demonstrate that the three variables are indeed positively affected by the training sessions to users from both municipalities. Consequently, training plays a vital role in encouraging government employees and administrators to accept, adopt and utilize e-government technologies.

Many have studied the process of acceptance and adoption of new ideas and technologies as they are introduced into society. While several models have been used to assess various influencing factors, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is one that is most widely accepted. This model examines people’s acceptance of new technologies based on variables that directly correlate to how the end user views the product. This paper introduces the Policy Acceptance Model (PAM), an expansion of TAM, which is designed for the analysis and evaluation of acceptance of new policy implementation. PAM includes the traditional constructs of TAM and adds the variables of age and ethnicity. The model is experimentally assessed using a survey of people’s attitudes toward the upcoming health care reform from 72 survey respondents. The aim is that the theory behind this model can be used as a framework that will be applicable to studies looking at the introduction of any new or modified policies.

Abstract During the pandemic, technology-mediated communication was one of the few ways to maintain social and community connections. We explored how the pandemic impacted older adults’ use and appraisal of technology. In a random sample of 407 older adults (M age = 81.1 years; range 65-105 years) almost half (n = 161) reported they changed how they used technology to virtually connect with others during the pandemic, and 78 of these reported that this was new technology for them. We adapted the technology acceptance model (TAM) for the pandemic, the COVID-TAM, and describe how physical distancing led to new acceptance of technology due to an increased perception of usefulness of technology for maintaining community and social connections. The 71 older adults who denied using technology were asked about the reasons underlying their reluctance to use technology to access social networks and community events during the pandemic. Thematic analysis revealed factors consistent with a double-digital divide; lack of physical exposure to technology creates an additional psychological barrier to adoption of new technology. Of the technology-reluctant subgroup of older adults, few reported lack of perceived usefulness of technology during the pandemic. Instead, most reported lack of self-efficacy or fear of technology underlying their lack of technology use for social and community connections during the pandemic, which we incorporate into the COVID-TAM. Findings indicate that technology training can help mitigate this fear and increase social and community connections that are technology-mediated in circumstances where physical distancing is necessary.

Building on the technology acceptance model (TAM), this study examines university student’s acceptance of information and communication technology (ICT) as a learning resource outside of the classroom. With the aim of looking more deeply into this subject, the study applied the technology acceptance model to recognize the effect of perceived usefulness on the student’s actual use of ICT with the existence of perceived usefulness as a moderator variable. Data were collected from 376 students from Duhok Polytechnic University in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq using a questionnaire survey consisting of 15 items developed based on the related literature. The results support that both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are key determinants of student’s actual use of ICT as a learning resource, and the relationship between perceived ease of use and actual use is moderated by perceived usefulness. Based on the findings, conclusions, implications, limitations, and an outlook for future studies were made. The originality of this study stems from the use of perceived usefulness as a moderator on the relationship between perceived ease of use and actual use of ICT among university students.

Streszczenie:
The attributes and benefits of wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductors are rapidly becoming known, as their use in power electronics applications continues to gain industry acceptance. However, hurdles still exist in achieving widespread market acceptance, on a par with traditional silicon power devices. Primary challenges include reducing device costs and the expansion of a workforce trained in their use. The Department of Energy (DOE) is actively fostering development activities to expand application spaces, achieve acceptable cost reduction targets and grow the acceptance of WBG devices to realize DOEs core missions of more efficient energy generation, greenhouse gas reduction and energy security within the U.S. This paper discusses currently funded activities and application areas that are suitable for WBG introduction. A detailed cost roadmap for SiC device introduction is also presented.

E-learning is one of the media in the current learning process, but many facts in the field show that the process of using it is not optimal. Many factors affect one of them, from the user's difficulty to operate it. This research aims to identify the factors that influence the use of the e-learning portal at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta with a teacher and student as respondents. This research uses a quantitative approach with an ex-post-facto approach. The primary data source comes from sharing an online questionnaire (google form) which contains 30 questions using a Likert scale of 5 as an alternative answer. The research subjects were teachers of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta with 69 teachers. The results showed that the use of e-learning portals by teachers and students is (1) effect by the e-learning self-efficacy factor on the e-learning portal is still not optimally successful; (2) Effect by complexity factor is still not optimally successful and (3) Effect from motivation factor is getting optimal results.
