This study attempted to analyze people’s needs for tattooing by comparing appearance interest, tattoo perception, tatto behavior against university students in their 20s, who usually have a high interest in their appearance and tattoos and provide basic data needed for tattoo development to enhance customer satisfaction. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed against 108 men and 209 women in June and September, 2019, and the results found the followings: First, in terms of the influence of appearance interest on their perception of tattoos, men were greater than women. In other words, college men with high interest in their appearance revealed a high perception of tattoos. Second, both university men and women were very aware of the importance of appearance. However, men were less active than women in searching for fashion and beauty-related information. Compared to college men, furthermore, college women were more interested in tattooing and showed a higher willingness to get tattooed with a positive mindset. In particular, they believed that safety is important in tattooing. Third, in terms of tattoo design, men preferred letter and animal tattoos while nature and plant tattoos were popular among women. Even though refined and stylish tattoos were preferred by both university men and women, the former liked manly tattoos while the latter loved sexy tattoos.

This study aims to determinan (1)the factors that cause womwn to use tattoos. (2) The symbolic meaning of tattoo images in tattoed women.This type of research is qualitatiive by determining the subject through the snowball sampling technique. The date collection techniques used were observation, interview and documentation, which were used to obtain concrete data related to problem in this study. The date obtained in this study were analyzed with qualitative descriptive analysis.The results of the study indicate that: (1). The factors that cause tattooed women to use tattoos include: a) internal factors, including interests and self-expression. b) external factors, including the enironment and idol figures. (2). The symbolic meaning of tattoo images in tattooed women include: a) as hope, b) as expression, c) as identity.

Purpose As employers are purportedly becoming more receptive to tattoos, the question arises whether tattooed employees are nonetheless subject to unfavorable treatment. In this light, the purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of different tattoo characteristics on four outcomes: annual earnings, fair interpersonal treatment from supervisors, perceived discrimination and perceived overqualification. The specific tattoo characteristics were tattoo number, visibility and content. Design/methodology/approach Survey data from a sample of 162 tattooed hospitality employees were obtained from a Qualtrics research panel and analyzed using regression. Findings The results demonstrated that employees with a greater degree of dark tattoo content (content of a more threatening and intimidating nature) received less favorable treatment, as demonstrated by significant relationships with fair interpersonal treatment, perceived discrimination and perceived overqualification. Tattoo number was related to increased perceived discrimination and perceived overqualification. At the same time, tattoo number was related to increased annual earnings, signaling a benefit. Research limitations/implications Measures of tattoo characteristics and workplace outcomes were collected in a single survey. An analysis of data collected at different points would potentially provide a more definitive test of cause and effect. Practical implications On one front, organizations should establish grooming policies that specify what is acceptable with respect to tattoos. To help minimize personality-related tattoo stereotypes from influencing hiring decisions, organizations could use personality assessments to make the hiring process more objective. Moreover, diversity training could address tattoo-related stereotypes, bias and prejudice. Originality/value Even though prior studies have demonstrated that tattooed people are viewed as less suitable for employment, research focused on the relationship between tattoos and actual discrimination has been limited. The results from this study highlight that employees with tattoos may still be subject to maltreatment, despite the mainstreaming of tattoos.

The research analyzed why women decided to get tattoos on their bodies and how Indonesian women interpreted tattoos. The tattoo was a kind of art and a symbol since centuries ago. In Indonesia, having a tattoo was no longer considered taboo as it used to be seen as something that deviated from the norm in Indonesia, especially if it was possessed by women. The tattoo was also identical with crime and thuggery, in which people who had tattoos would be respected or feared by people. However, in recent years, there has been a phenomenon in the raising of female tattoo communities where tattooed women gathered and supported each other. The research used the tattoo concept by Thompson and Feminist theory by Kristeva to analyze it. The research applied a qualitative method in which the dataset were taken from interview with three women of the Perempuan Tattoo Indonesia (PTI) community. The result of the interview is various. It shows that tattoo in Indonesian women’s perspective is not seen as only a trend, fashion, or art. However, it shows self-expression and freedom to fight women’s rights and gender quality.

Introduction. Tattoos have increasingly become accepted by mainstream Western society. As a result, the incidence of tattoo-associated dermatoses is on the rise. The presence of a poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma in an old tattooed skin is of interest as it has not been previously documented.Case Presentation. A 79-year-old white homeless man of European descent presented to the dermatology clinic with a painless raised nodule on his left forearm arising in a tattooed area. A biopsy of the lesion revealed a poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma infiltrating into a tattoo. The lesion was completely excised and the patient remains disease-free one year later.Conclusion. All previous reports of squamous cell carcinomas arising in tattoos have been well-differentiated low-grade type or keratoacanthoma-type and are considered to be coincidental rather than related to any carcinogenic effect of the tattoo pigments. Tattoo-associated poorly differentiated invasive carcinoma appears to be extremely rare.

This study examined differences between tattooed and non-tattooed individuals on a range of personality and individual difference measures. A community sample of 540 individuals from the southern German-speaking area of central Europe completed a survey consisting of measures of the Big Five personality factors, Need for Uniqueness, Self-esteem, sensation seeking, Religious and Spiritual Beliefs, Attitudes Toward Tattoos, tattoo possession, and demographics. Preliminary analyses showed that 22% of the total sample possessed at least one tattoo. Further analyses showed that, compared with non-tattooed ( n = 420) individuals, tattooed participants ( n = 120) had significantly higher scores on Extraversion, Experience Seeking, Need for Uniqueness, and held more positive Attitudes Toward Tattoos, although effect sizes of these group differences were generally small- to medium-sized. These results are considered in relation to the contemporary prevalence of tattoos in socioeconomically developed societies.

Some of the women often wear clothes that tend to show. Tattoos can make them have a positive impression wherein it makes them feel sexy, cool or attractive in appearance. The reason for using a tattoo is because they like the image on the other hand because they prefer to have an image in their body which is their characteristic in their socializing. The purpose of this study was to determine the gender construction in the Tatoart community in Gorontalo City. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research are; Gender construction in the Tatoart Community as a style to beautify one's appearance. Tattoos are also used as a measure of association, meaning that the more tattoos the woman is assessed for the extent of her association. So that some women admit that the use of tattoos is considered more slang in front of their friends. Women who have tattoos are those who also have playmates who have tattoos, so they are influenced to get tattooed. And some women who have tattoos also reason to put tattoos because of identity. The meaning for each tattoo is different. This depends on the selection of the tattoo motif and the placement of the tattoo on the body. Women put on permanent tattoos, which are tattoos that can last a lifetime on the skin, and for placement, women who are tattooed in Gorontalo City are generally more daring to put it around the body that is not covered to make it easier to show off. is considered positive when the use of tattoos is used as art or decoration that aims to beautify the body or appearance. The self-concept of tattooed women belonging to the Gorontalo Tattooart Community (GTC) is a concept where they act in accordance with the views of themselves and others towards themselves. The tattooed woman, a member of the Gorontalo Tattooart Community (GTC), considers tattooing as an art that everyone is free to wear, and they think that they can learn a lot after using tattoos because of the many negative views from outsiders that make them even stronger individuals in carrying out the day.

Purpose This study aims to explore the ethical and social issues of tattoo recognition technology (TRT) and tattoo similarity detection technology (TSDT), which are expected to be increasingly used by state and local police departments and law enforcement agencies. Design/methodology/approach The paper investigates the new ethical concerns raised by tattoo-based biometrics on a comparative basis with face-recognition biometrics. Findings TRT raises much more ethically sensitive issues than face recognition, because tattoos are meaningful biometric traits, and tattoo identification is tantamount to the identification of many more personal features that normally would have remained invisible. TSDT’s assumption that classifying people in virtue of their visible features is useful to foretell their attitudes and behaviours is dangerously similar to racist thought. Practical implications The findings hope to promote an active debate on the ethical and social aspects of tattoo-based biometrics before it is intensely implemented by law enforcement agencies. Social implications Tattooed individuals – inasmuch as they are more controlled and monitored – are negatively discriminated in comparison to un-tattooed individuals. As tattooing is not uniformly distributed among population, many demographic groups like African–Americans will be overrepresented in tattoos databases used by TRT and TSDT, thus being affected by disproportionately higher risk to be found as a match for a given suspect. Originality/value TRT and TSDT represent one of the new frontiers of biometrics. The ethical and social issues raised by TRT and TSDT are currently unexplored.

This research is entitled Perceptions of Students of Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya on the Tattoo Tradition of Students from the Mentawai Islands. The research aims to determine the students' views about the Mentawai tattoo tradition which is against the world of education. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study showed that the perception of students at the PGRI Adi Buana University Surabaya towards tattoos was very positive, more than 75% of students already understood the outline of tattoos, both tattoos as a symbol of identity and as art. Most students agree that tattoos have now become a trend that cannot be separated from modern society. Even the pictures are so diverse and interesting that what was once seen as scary has now become commonplace. They understand that a person who has a tattoo does not mean someone who is not intellectual or has no skills. They are free people and appreciate the art that is applied to their bodies. As long as its existence does not disturb others there should be no problems and there is no need to label the tattooed person as evil or close to deviant behavior.Keywords: Mentawai Tattoos, Tattoo Perception,

This study purposed to know the effect of art and socio-culture on the public perception of tattoos. The data used in this study is the primary data collected using a questionnaires distributed to 200 people with 100 non-tattooed people and 100 tattooed people. This study used covariance-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS software, and used three latent variables such as art, socio-culture and tattoo perception. The results of this study show art and socio-culture have a significant effect on tattoo perception.

Detta projekt gick ut på att undersöka ergonomiska problem med tatueringsmaskiner som finns på marknaden idag, att generera koncept om hur att förbättra problemen, och att sedan utveckla de koncepten i form av ritningar, CAD modeller och fysiska modeller. Processen börjades med att framföra en grundlig marknadsundersökning. Det som ingick i marknadsundersökningen var en infosökning, en kundundersökning i form av en enkät som skickades till tatuerare, och ett självtest av två olika tatueringsmaskiner. Resultaten som togs fram från marknadsundersökningen var att de största ergonomiska problemen var ljudnivå, vibrationsnivå, maskinvikt och balans, problem med grepp, och sladdkontroll. Områdena delades upp i tre olika problemgrupper vars fokus blev: tatueringsmaskin (apropå ljud, vibration och maskinvikt), greppet, och sladdkontroll. Genom en konceptgenereringsprocess togs fram tre nya produkter: en tatueringsmaskin som reducerar ljud- och vibrationsnivån och är enkelt att rengöra, ett silikon grepp som dämpar vibration och ger tatuerare ett bekvämt och återanvändningsbart alternativ, och ett silikon armband som reducerar viktpåverkan på handleden och eliminerar frustrationer om sladdkontroll. De tre koncepten blev utvalda på grund av att de presenterade de bästa lösningarna till ergonomiska problemen som kom fram via marknadsundersökning och dessa försäljningsmöjligheter. De slutliga koncepten presenterades sedan i form av en presentation och fysiska modeller på KEXPO utställningen.
This project was based on completion of an analysis of ergonomical problems with tattoo machines that exist on the market today, the generation of concepts to improve the situation, and the development of new concepts in the form of sketches, CAD models and physical models. The process began by completing a thorough market analysis. This was done via an information study, a customer survey in the form of a questionnaire that was sent to several tattoo artists, and a self-test in which two different tattoo machines were studied. The result of this analysis showed that the major ergonomic problems had to do with noise level, vibration level, machine weight and balance, poor grip ergonomics, and problems with cord control. These issues were then divided into problem focus areas, that is: tattoo machines (as to problems with noise, vibration and weight), grip, and cord control.Through an extensive concept-generation process, three different solutions were developed: a light-weight tattoo machine which decreases noise- and vibration-levels and made sanitization simple, a silicone grip which dampens vibrations and presents a comfortable and reusable alternative, and a silicone bracelet which reduces poor ergonomic effects on the wrist and eliminates frustration due to poor cord control. These three concepts were chosen due to the fact that they represented the best possible solutions to the ergonomic problems that were found during market research and because of their sales potential. They were then shown in the form of a presentation and physical model at the KEXPO exhibit.

This thesis uses heuristic and alchemical hermeneutic methodologies and a depth psychological perspective to examine the metaphor and experience of tattoo. The history of tattoos and ideas around healing are explored, as well as the author’s own healing and transformation through multiple tattoo experiences. The author’s analysis illustrates how a tattoo may be not only representative of a snapshot of the psyche in a moment in time, but might also move the psyche toward healing through the exploration of the archetypal energy in the image. In addition, the author explores how the modification of the body has the capacity to change the emotional and psychological relationship to one’s body.

This dissertation presents thirty-two poems and an introduction to the collection. In After My Third Tattoo, the poems’ speaker explores methods with which she perceives and constructs reality. Her exploration is the dramatic situation of each poem and the plot of the collection. The poems’ speaker regards physical objects, recalls experiences, and discovers how these objects and experiences hold psychological significance for her. With the intellectual and emotional associations she makes among objects and experiences, the speaker constructs, repeats and varies image patterns. Through her associations, she perceives overlaps in: the rational and emotional, the earthly and divine, the order imposed on her by society and the order that she builds through her own agency, and her perception and the perceptions of others. Finding agency through meditation and language liberates the speaker from identity-making terms that the lesbian speaker rejects.

More often than not, when we think about visual rhetoric, especially in the fields of composition and literature, we imagine such visual texts as video games, advertisements, and graffiti/art. It’s rare that our thoughts turn to tattoos and the idea that women’s tattoos in particular, as visual text, act as a rhetorical device subverting dominant social norms of how heteropatriarchy defines woman and femininity. The dominant notions of how we think about text – writing, rhetoric, and the publication of narrative – facilitates the construction of a tattoo rhetoric. Utilizing a feminist lens, this thesis demonstrates the visual rhetoric of women’s tattoos and the construction of a tattoo rhetoric, drawing from elements of queers of color, women of color, and visual rhetoric scholars, as well as such theorists as Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes, and Mikhail Bakhtin. I explore Shelly Jackson’s Skin and the embodied texts of Kat Von D’s tattoos to convey the disidentification from and deconstruction of traditional and dominant notions of writing, rhetoric, and narrative, as well as heteropatriarchal constructs and governance of women, women’s bodies, and femininity. The visual rhetoric of women’s tattoos empowers women to radically challenge mainstream perceptions of feminine beauty, reclaim agency over their own bodies, and construct new meaning of woman and embodied texts. Women’s tattooed bodies facilitate the deconstruction of dominant ideologies of woman, femininity, and of text; the reconstruction of how woman and visual text are defined; and the construction of a tattoo rhetoric.

Den här studien syftar till att söka förståelse för tatuerade personers individuella uppfattningar kring betydelsen av deras tatueringar, samt kring tatueringar på en generell nivå. Vidare har vi haft för avsikt att undersöka hur tatuerade personer upplever omgivningens uppfattningar och bemötande utifrån tatueringarna. Studien har en kvalitativ ansats med främst ett induktivt förhållningssätt, vilket emellertid även innefattar vissa deduktiva inslag. Vidare intar studien idealism och konstruktivism som ontologiska ståndpunkter med en hermeneutisk och interpretativistisk epistemologi. Insamlandet av empiriskt material har skett genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Resultat i studien visar att tatueringar utgör en betydande komponent i en individs identitetsskapande vilket samverkar med individens omgivning. Resultatet visar även att tatueringarna och dess symbolik kopplas till individens relation till omgivningen och dess roll som samhällsvarelse i vilken samhälleliga normer och uppfattningar tillägnas och tolkas. Slutligen visar resultatet att tatueringar och tatuerande som aktivitet kan återspegla det samtida samhället och dess utmärkande drag.
The aim of this study is to seek an understanding of the individual perceptions of tattooed persons about the significance of their tattoos, as well as of tattoos on a general level. Furthermore, we intended to investigate how tattooed people perceive the surroundings' perceptions and attitudes based on the tattoos. The study has a qualitative approach with mainly an inductive approach, which, however, also includes some deductive elements. Furthermore, the study adopts idealism and constructivism as ontological positions with a hermeneutic and interpretivist epistemology. The collection of empirical material has been done through semi-structured interviews. Results in the study show that tattoos are a significant component of an individual's creation of identity which interacts with the individual's surroundings. The result also shows that the tattoos and their symbolism are linked to the individual's relationship to the environment and its role as a social being in which societal norms and perceptions are assigned and interpreted. Finally, the results show that tattoos and tattoos as an activity can reflect the contemporary society and its distinctive features.

Lasers have been employed in the removal of tattoos for the past three decades. During this time period, advances in the procedure allow ″lightening″ of tattoos with minimal risk of scarring. The most important development was the concept of selective phothermolysis. Tattoos are still poorly explored as a biometrics factor for human identification, especially in public security, where tattoos can play an important role for identifying criminals and victims. Tattoos are considered a soft biometrics, since they are not permanent and can change along time, differently from hard biometrics traits (fingerprint, iris, DNA, etc). The identification of tattoos are not simple, since they do not have a definite pattern or location. This fact increases the complexity of developing models to address this problem. In addition, the tattoo identification roadmap is very complex, including several steps and, in each step, specific methods need to be developed. Among the several problems identified in this roadmap, we tacked the identification problem, which is defined as: given an image of a person, determine if there is a tattoo or not. We present a deep learning model based on transfer learning for the tattoo detection problem. We also used data augmentation to improve the diversity of the training sets so as to achieve better classification accuracy. Along the work two new datasets for tattoo detection were created. Several comparative experiments were done to evaluate the diversity of images in the datasets, and the accuracy of the proposed model. Results were very promising, achieving an accuracy of 95.1% in the test set, and a F1-score of 0.79 in an external dataset. Overall, results were satisfactory, given the complexity of the problem. Future work will focus on expanding the datasets created and addressing the other problems of the tattoo roadmap.

Dette skrivet prøver å gi ei forståing av korleis datamaskinar er oppbygde og virkar. Ein ser også på korleis ein kan programmera mindre datamaskinar brukte til styring og overvaking av prosessar. Skrivet er laga for bruk i emnet Datamaskinarkitektur ved Universitetet i Stavanger (UiS). Det kan også brukast til å gi ei innføring i digitalteknikk generelt og som ein del av dette, mikroprosessoren sin struktur og virkemåte. Ein får også ei innføring i grunnlaget for konstruksjon av datamaskinar. Ein har prøvd å gjera framstillinga kort og klar. Hovudfokus er på dei ulike byggjesteinane i ein datamaskin og korleis digitalteknikk blir praktisert i dag. Mykje av den klassiske digitalteknikken som manuell logikkonstruksjon med enkle portar av ein type, manuell optimalisering av logikk vhja. Karnaugh-diagram og konstruksjon av tilstandsmaskinar basert på J-K-vipper er tillagt redusert vekt samanlikna med vanlege lærebøker. Utviklingsprosjekt i dag tar stort sett utgangspunkt i programmerbar elektronikk. Mange klassiske metodar er her innbakt i utviklingsverktøyet ein bruker, eller blir realisert på andre måtar. Tema som logikkoptimalisering er likevel tatt med til ein viss grad der dette høyrer heime. Emnet Datamaskinarkitektur kom inn som ein obligatorisk del av bachelorstudia i data og elektro ved UiS hausten 2013. Læringsmåla for desse bachelorstudia kan formulerast som vist i det følgjande. Studentane skal som ferdige ingeniørar i data vera i stand til å: - Forstå ulike typar operativsystem. - Spesifisera, utvikla og testa objektorienterte datasystem. - Utnytta kjente algoritmer og datastrukturar til å løysa konkrete datatekniske problem. - Utvikla og bruka databaser. - Planleggja og driva datasystem. - Vurdera og utvikla nettbaserte dataløysinger. Studentane skal som ferdige ingeniører i elektro vera i stand til å: - Analysera og konstruera mikroprosessorbaserte system og programvare for desse. - Vurdera måletekniske løysingar for ei gitt oppgåve. - Vurdera komponentar og metodar for overvaking og automatisering av prosessar og produksjonslinjer. - Konstruera og programmera PLS- baserte styringssystem. - Utvikla diskrete algoritmer for regulerings- og signalbehandlingsformål. Ei solid forståing av korleis ein datamaskin er oppbygd og virkar er eit grunnleggjande vilkår for dei fleste av desse måla. Skrivet blir som vist gjort tilgjengeleg under ein såkalla Creative Common-lisens. Dette gir brei tilgang og gjer det i tillegg mogleg å byggja på eit stort tilfang av materiell som er gjort tilgjengeleg under same lisens, f.eks. frå den store dugnadsbasen Wikimedia. I tillegg er det i skrivet brei bruk av referansar til utdjupande stoff på internett. Ein del av stoffet på mikroprosessorar og datamaskinkonstruksjon er basert på skrivet som blei laga for eit tidlegare datamaskinemne ved UiS. I tillegg er vedlegg A.1 basert på forelesingsnotat i digitalteknikk frå 2009 av Trygve Eftestøl, UiS. Desse notata innheldt også handteikna skisser av Tom Ryen, UiS. Elles har Jon Fidjeland, UiS, kome med mange verdifulle kommentarar undervegs i arbeidet. Sidan oppstarten i 2013 har rundt 400 studentar tatt emnet Datamaskinarkitektur, og spørsmåla og kommentarane frå dei har påverka utviklinga av skrivet gjennom desse åra. Skrivet er norsk. Engelske omgrep blir sett i hermeteikn viss dei blir nytta åleine og i parentes når dei blir viste saman med norsk utgåve av nemninga.

Dette er en rapport som bygger på en sosiologisk studie av pårørende og brukeres oppfatninger i tilknytning til en fremtidig innføring av velferdsteknologi i bolig for unge mennesker med nedsatt funksjonsevne. Hovedhensikten med studien er å dokumentere og diskutere muligheter og begrensninger ved velferdsteknologisk understøttelse i bolig slik den enkelte bruker/pårørende oppfatter dette. Målgruppen for studien er unge voksne (18-29 år) med nedsatt funksjonsevne som enten bor i egen bolig eller er på vei til egen bolig. Dette er en gruppe unge mennesker som har vært og fremdeles er lite synlig i debatten rundt innføring av velferdsteknologi som i all hovedsak har vært rettet mot eldre og/eller kronisk syke. Min analyse fokuseres rundt fem hovedtema: 1) kunnskaps- og kompetanseforutsetninger, 2) teknologiske utfordringer, 3) ny teknologi og det menneskelige aspektet, 4) fordeler og ulemper med moderne teknologi og 5) de blandede erfaringene med Nav. Et overordnet spørsmål i rapporten er hvordan velferdsteknologi kan bidra til inkludering for unge mennesker med funksjonsnedsettelser. Det ble anvendt en kvalitativ metode i studiet med bruk av semi-strukturerte intervjuer. Utvalget av informanter i målgruppen ble strategisk valgt i samsvar med prosjektets forskningsspørsmål. Dette omfattet unge voksne brukere (18-29 år) med nedsatt kognitiv og/eller fysisk funksjon samt pårørende til brukere i denne aldersgruppen. Et annet kriterium var at brukerne enten bodde i egen bolig eller var på vei til egen bolig de nærmeste årene. Totalt 13 informanter deltok, herav 5 brukere og 8 pårørende. 3 av de 5 brukerne som deltok i undersøkelsen bodde i egen bolig. Av det totale antallet brukere som var representert i undersøkelsen bodde 5 av brukere i egen bolig. Intervjuene ble gjennomført i fem kommuner i Rogaland høsten 2013 og vår 2014. Hvert intervju ble tatt opp på bånd og transkribert. Informantene ble rekruttert via to ulike interesseorganisasjoner. Funn Et hovedfunn viser at det er et stort behov for informasjon og kunnskap om hva velferdsteknologi omfatter og hva som er forskjellen på velferdsteknologi og mer tradisjonelle hjelpemidler. Samtidig indikerer funn at noen av brukerne og flere av de pårørende har kunnskap og kompetanse i bruk av smarttelefoner, pc, nettbrett etc. Dette er kunnskap som kan videreutvikles til bruk av ulike typer mer spesialtilpassede kommunikasjonsløsninger. Manglende tilgjengelig informasjon kan bidra til at det skapes ambivalente holdninger til ny teknologi. Dette er knyttet til oppfatninger om overvåkning og kontroll. En utfordring som kommer til uttrykk blant pårørende informantene i tilknytning til velferdsteknologi, er situasjoner hvor pårørende/bruker mangler digital kompetanse. Pårørende uttrykker i den sammenheng bekymring for ekskludering av en gruppe brukere som ikke får tilgang til moderne teknologi fordi det ikke søkes om dette. Resultatet kan bli at det ikke søkes om velferdsteknologiske løsninger fordi pårørende/sosiale nettverk ikke selv har kompetanse eller ikke bryr seg om å erverve denne kompetansen. Brukere som er avhengig av pårørende/sosiale nettverk for å håndtere teknologien kan bli særlig sårbare i denne sammenhengen. Et viktig funn som kommer frem her er at det må opprettes en type support gjennom Nav. Denne type support må være tilgjengelig i situasjoner hvor teknologien ikke fungerer som den skal eller ved andre behov for assistanse. Funn peker og på behovet for å sikre opplæring av kommunalt ansatte som mangler grunnleggende kompetanse om velferdsteknologi. Dette er i samsvar med flere fagrapporter på feltet. Et sentralt funn i undersøkelsen omfatter frykten for at velferdsteknologi skal erstatte menneskelig kontakt. Dette er i samsvar med «motstanderne» i debatten rundt innføring av moderne teknologi. Flere av informantene uttrykte og stor skepsis til ulike type overvåkningsutstyr av tjenestemottaker. Møtet med Nav/hjelpemidler viser at mange av mine informanter har svært blandede erfaringer i forhold til informasjon om moderne velferdsteknologiske løsninger (smarthusløsninger) samt få innvilget søknader til mer tradisjonelle hjelpemidler. Ingen av informantene har på noe tidspunkt fått tilbud om smarthusløsninger i bolig. Dette kan skyldes manglende kompetanse og kunnskap om velferdsteknologiske løsninger fra kommunens side samt representere en flaskehals i forhold til implementering av velferdsteknologi. En annen grunn kan være lav innkjøpskompetanse og svak økonomi. Bruk av ulike moderne teknologiske løsninger kan bidra til at mennesker med nedsatt funksjonsevne kan få en større grad av selvstendighet og kunne delta på flere av livets områder. En viktig forutsetning i denne sammenheng omfatter tilrettelegging og opplæring av funksjonshemmede, pårørende og sosiale nettverk samt aktører som har ansvar for tilrettelegging.
