Our nation has made great strides since 1954's Brown v. Board of Education, 1963's I Have a Dream speech, and the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. However, Jeannie and other minorities continue to endure in a struggle for true equality. A debate exists as to whether race issues are improved by discussion, or if they improve by ceasing these types of discussions and not even mentioning race. The purpose of this qualitative biographical narrative is to vicariously relive Jeannie's Journey and ascertain what relevance her life story has to our historical timeline. The sole participant in this study was Jeannie Hodges. Data for this study were collected through 3 in-depth interviews using an interview protocol based upon a conversational interview process. Who we are is a direct manifestation of where we have been and the journeys we have taken. Jeannie's journey shows us that we can look at the past and discuss history without hate, pointing fingers, or laying blame. We benefit from gaining a deeper understanding of where we as a people have been as opposed to as individual races of blacks and whites. Understanding our combined histories provides an appreciation for where we are today as well as guidance for the future. The point is to gain a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of our individual histories, like threads in a tapestry. It is crucial to our continued progress that we not cease discussions about race or about this part of our historical timeline. Can we as a nation, acknowledge our past, embrace our future, and continue the journey together?

AbstractThis chapter draws on a detailed transgenerational case study, the story of ‘Masimbo’, which involves migration, to highlight the conceptualisation and journey of mental illness within an African cultural perspective. In Masimbo’s story, African understandings of mental disorder are side-lined by Western approaches with untoward consequences for him and his family. The implication that is drawn from this, however, is not that African perspectives should replace Western approaches but rather that they should be used together. Thus, Masimbo’s story is illuminated with comments woven in from both an African (Yoruba traditional conceptualisation) and a systemic psychotherapy perspective. This shows how respecting both perspectives is possible and preferable from a person-centred point of view as different narratives/understandings are foregrounded and backgrounded like a tapestry, promoting an approach in which mental illness and the nuances that culture brings, is appreciated and worked with. We conclude with a reflection on the nature of storytelling as mythopoetry within African culture and its role in bridging between perspectives in mental health.

Abstract The brief but fruitful lives of the New-England Weekly Journal and the Weekly Rehearsal, experiments in a distinct genre I have called the “literary newspaper,” were not the only contributions to a decade of rapid development in American newspaper publishing. Between 1728 and 1739 the number of newspapers more than doubled, from five to twelve. If we count the two West Indian newspapers that appeared in the same decade, the number nearly tripled. And even this is to disregard the Maryland Gazette and the first Rhode-Island Gazette, which were founded in this eventful publishing era but did not survive the decade.

Abstract This chapter considers Dennis Plunkett, the poem’s representative (neo)colonizer and the one character whose journey is landward. Plunkett’s journey is informed by the fact that his relationship to the island and its inhabitants is a damaging one: as a pig-farmer he reproduces plantation practices, and as a historian he seeks to inscribe the islanders in a Eurocentric imperial history. The chapter reads him against the two keepers of pigs in the Odyssey, Odysseus’s swineherd, Eumaeus, and Circe, who turns Odysseus’s men into pigs. Eumaeus, who has a harmonious relationship with the landscape he inhabits and the pigs he tends, becomes a foil against which to read Plunkett’s exploitation of St. Lucia and its resources. Circe emerges as the mistress from whose grip Plunkett must extricate himself if he is to end his complicity in the figurative transformation of the islanders into swine. Maud, Plunkett’s Penelope, awaits his return, patiently quilting her tapestry of birds. Unlike Penelope, who unstitches her quilt every night, delaying the Odyssey’s various endings, Maud’s quilt is unstitched only in Plunkett’s imagination and only after her death. Maud’s quilt and her flower garden are both represented as acts of colonial domination, attempts to order and categorize the flora and fauna of an island landscape that she finds unmanageable. After her death Plunkett’s imagined unstitching of her tapestry allows him to heal from his colonial wounds and find his place on the island.

Streszczenie:
Abstract The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4.0) in Oil & Gas Industry creates a dynamic landscape where Operational Excellence (OE) strives for stability, quality, and efficiency while continuing to serve an increasingly demanding customer. Operational excellence is a journey, not a sole destination. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Onshore, one of the South East Fields, oil production capacity was constrained due to the limitation of associated gas handling capacity of the compressors. Gas flow towards the compressor was not steady due to natural flowing wells non-steady behavior and this disturbance cannot be removed from the system. The situation was quite complicated. In order to produce oil, associated gas must be handled to avoid flaring. It was more than a challenge to increase the compressors effective capacity without any hardware modification. Since flaring is not permitted in ADNOC and running of huge capacity standby compressor was not economically viable, therefore, Field Operations by lateral thinking transformed this challenging situation into an opportunity and enhanced compressor effective capacity by expanding its operating envelope to handle additional gas. One innovative solution proposed by Field Operations was to expand the pressure-operating envelope of the machine to withstand high pressures without tripping. The idea was to increase the machine throughput by elevating the machine high-pressure trip set point along with Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) set point elevation. This submission shares success story of an oil field Operations in house efforts to enhance the gas injection compressor effective capacity by 600 MSCFD which subsequently increased the oil production capacity by 1700 bopd or 0.62 million barrels oil per year by Operational Excellence. Operational Excellence played its role with a value improvement objective. Rather than replacing successful practices and programs, Operational Excellence knitted them into a larger, fully integrated tapestry woven to increase value produced within the overall business strategy which is very evident in this scenario. This case study is blend of Operations Excellence and innovation representing Management support to employee to solve complex problems. Such support is always beneficial for the company and employee. Streszczenie:
In 2020, I created a body of work that paid attention to the concerns of body image representation of the gay male. The work was shown in a local exhibition in Auckland, called ‘Bear Bodies in Motion’, and it aimed as a critique on the anxieties of body image, especially in the gay bear subculture where there are considerable levels of stigma and shaming of bigger male bodies – made more profound towards bodies of colour. In an attempt at subversion, the creative work, portrayed the bigger body as energetic and aesthetically potent. It combined photography with digital painting and the result was an expression of body acceptance and authorship. Thematically, the image of the gay bear builds on a rich history of homo-oriented art. It plays on the tapestry of the gay identity which determines how it is being represented, negotiated and remixed continually in the gay mainstream. Discourse emanating from gay communities of colour, speaks of attempts to remove colonised attitudes, and in reimagining their heritage and sexual identities authentically. This artistic body of work sought to add to the dialogue that surrounds issues of race, queerness and ‘otherness’. The subsequent conversations which followed the exhibition, unpacked concerns of cultural identity, masculinity and belonging – in which seem to be heavily burdened by western-influenced and racialised notions of performativity. Through research, and taking in the ephemera that surrounds the discourse of the colonised body image, I begun to create work that seeks to further add to the discourse. This heavily illustrated paper reflects on the creative process in the art making of ‘Bear Bodies in Motion’. The methodology underpinning this artistic body of work is ‘reflection-in-action’, and it draws inspiration from research in the ‘lived experience’. Additionally it also consider its move from traditional mediums to the consideration of technology as a platform for storytelling, from the print medium to digital spaces – in this instance, the inclusion of Augmented Reality (AR). With this extension, AR provides the viewer the opportunity to take a more active role in reading the text. The experience moves the work into a more participatory space, where the narrative becomes more palpable and appreciated. The making journey is outlined from conceptual stage to the finalised artistic work from my personal lens who is both artist-maker and design practitioner. This paper also discusses the challenges and conflicts in creating a body of work of this nature. Especially of concern is its need for sensitivity in the representation of non-euro cultures – with greater emphasis given to the consideration for its homosexual themes, and to the identities of my participants as they were from the community itself. This paper also includes my reflections and personal insights in how this approach to a practice-led research has contributed to my own learning and teaching approach. Being an educator myself, this process has given me greater empathy and understanding in the student journey within today’s higher education environment.

Reset of Emergency Shutdown Valves (ESD) from control room instead of field. All of the above proposals have already been implemented. In-house field operations implementation resulted in huge Capital as well as Operating Expenditure saving. By enhancing remote operations, essential benefits are achieved including capability to faster and more effective decision-making and improved HSE measures. Enhance production and reservoir optimization by real time data monitoring and troubleshooting. Enhanced well integrity by real time annulus pressure monitoring. Enhanced HSE by eliminating Confined Space Entries (CSEs) and exposure to toxic H2S. Reduction and operating expenditure (OPEX) Reduced dependency on human leading to less human error. Reduction in capital expenditure (CAPEX) Enhanced life of critical equipment Operational Excellence played its role with a value improvement objective.
