Pełny tekst źródłaProcess development in line with the green chemistry principles contribute to the reduction of the use of toxic and hazardous reagents. CO2 could substitute phosgene in syntheses of carbonates and polymers if chemists find how to activate CO2 efficiently and if they understand the parameters influencing its activation .This PhD work deals with the establishment of structure-activity relationships in heterogeneous catalysis of CO2 activation. The model system chosen for this study is the nucleophilic addition of methanol on CO2 catalyzed by zirconium oxide to form dimethyl carbonate (DMC). The main objective is to obtain a panel of pure zirconium oxides with various acid-base properties. We tuned and evaluated the physicochemical properties depending on the synthesis route of the oxides and we looked for relationships between those properties and the catalytic activity.The catalysts were prepared with conventional precipitation and sol-gel methods and through an original pathway using ionotropic alginate gels. The physicochemical properties (surface area, structure, morphology, texture, oxidation state) were analyzed in light of the synthesis pathways and the acid-base reactivity in adsorption and catalysis (model reaction of alcohol conversion). The properties have been correlated with the catalytic activity obtained in the DMC synthesis from CO2 and methanol in a batch reactor

Pełny tekst źródłaBlast-furnace slag is a by-product of steel industry used as a supplementary cementitious material. This calcium (Ca)-rich aluminosilicate glass has latent hydraulic properties. It can be used to make slag cements with low-carbon footprints and high resistances to aggressive environments.The objective of this thesis is, first, to study the glassy structure of slags and its impact on the properties of the material. We use chemically selective techniques (XANES and EXAFS), medium-range analysis (SEM, EPR, PDF) and complete these results with a simulation. The hydration of slag is based on a dissolution-reprecipitation mechanism in which Ca plays a significant role. This element is in complex environments and is not randomly distributed in the glassy structure. The Ca sites form a modifier sublattice which could make the dissolution of the slag easier.We, then, study the speciation of titanium (Ti) in the slags. This element is minimally present in the composition but according to industrial reports, it lowers the mechanical resistance of mortars containing slag cements. Ti is mainly five-fold coordinated and stabilizes the glassy structure. This could lead to a loss of reactivity of the material and cause the industrially observed performance deterioration. Pełny tekst źródłaNapin is a basic protein from rape. Pectins are anionic polysaccharides used in many industrial applications. Interactions between oppositely charged proteins and polysaccharides lead to better foaming properties than those of protein alone. The relationship between the structure of the complexes and their ability to stabilize interfaces has to be established in order to better understand and control such systems. Soluble complexes form individual aggregates in which proteins are linked to pectins with correlation at low ionic strength and without any particular correlation at high ionic strength. At the air/water interface, these complexes induce a somewhat lower interfacial tension than proteins but most important, they form viscoelastic layers. The thickness of films is the same for both foams of proteins and foams of complexes, but the latter are more stable; therefore, the rule of viscoelasticity in Plateau borders seems to be essential

Pełny tekst źródłaAfrican countries have been experiencing an increasing number of constitutional amendments, mainly affecting the presidential term limit clause. Leaders, who initiate them, seek to facilitate their re-election. Such reformist inclinations lead to major political and social crises. From the political actors, civil society organisations and citizen movements point of view, the presidential term limit clause is a key feature of constitutions and as such it should not be the subject of constitutional amendments. This thesis aims at demonstrating that constitutional amendment power is not absolute power. It must comply with two requirements. The first is formal. The amendment process provided by constitutions needs to be followed. The second is an objective. The duty of constitutional amendment power is to consolidate the institutional system by preserving its founding principles. These form the basic structure of constitutions. In Africa, it appears that these two requirements are not always observed when amending constitutions. This research also highlights that at both national and regional levels, there is a set of original mechanisms supervising constitutional amendment power, which are political and jurisdictional, but still in their infancy

Pełny tekst źródłaHydrothermal synthesis has been used to prepare materials based on transition metal hydroxides, synthetic analogues of minerals, for the study of their magnetic properties and structures. After a first part devoted to some general considerations, the second one shows the results obtained on compounds exhibiting the natrochalcite structure type, NaCu2H3O2(SO4)2, where the alkali metal can be Na or K, the transition metal Mn, Fe, Co or Ni, the tetrahedral anion SeO42- or MoO42-. The synthesis process was optimized in order pure samples with a good yield to be obtained. DT-TGA traces allow one to confirm the formulation and IR spectroscopy is used to identify the constituting groups. Determination of the crystalline structure from single-crystal X-ray data or neutron powder diffraction data confirms that the compounds are isostructural with natrochalcite. The structure contains infinite chains of edge-shared MO6 octahedra (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni). All the compounds order antiferromagnetically at low temperature. The corresponding magnetic structures appear different from one compound to another. A peculiar result is evidenced for NaFe2D3O2(MoO4)2 with the concomitant presence of two magnetic structures. The third part concerns a similar study for Co5(OH)6(SeO4)2(H2O)4 and Na2Ni(HPO3)2. The first one orders ferromagnetically at TC = 9 K, the magnetic moments being oriented along the b axis, and the second one orders antiferromagnetically at TN = 6 K. The conclusion evidences the main results and give some perspectives for further work

Pełny tekst źródłaThe aim of this thesis was to study the influence of acid-base properties of support on the structure and activity of the sulfide Mo and CoMo phases of hydrotreating catalysts. Boron and magnesium were chosen as additives to modify the acidity properties of alumina in an opposite but consistent way. The results indicated that the electronic deficiency of the Mo and CoMo sulfide phase varied in parallel with the Brønsted acidity and electronegativity of the supports. On boron modified catalysts, the increase of the electronic deficiency of the sulfide phase led to higher hydrogenation properties in HDS and HDN reactions. However, on Mg series catalysts, the variation of the electronic properties of the sulfide phase can not totally explain the performance of the catalysts. The observations were interpreted from other aspects. The beneficial effect of B and Mg can be combined by their co-addition. Finally, an electric model was established to account for the relationship between support properties and the electronic properties of the sulfide Mo phase
