Objetivo: Analisar o impacto que as atividades de animação sociocultural têm na qualidade dos serviços prestados no âmbito da terceira idade, percecionado pelos respetivos profissionais da animação sociocultural. Pretende-se verificar a importância que a profissão revela ter na qualidade das instituições e das respostas sociais no âmbito da terceira idade e do envelhecimento saudável. Metodologia: Foi realizado um diagnóstico a nível nacional sobre o contexto laboral dos animadores socioculturais, o seu exercício profissional, as expetativas relativamente ao futuro da atividade, à qualidade e ao impacto das suas práticas profissionais no âmbito da terceira idade. A amostra de 134 animadores socioculturais respondeu a um questionário online sobre a prática profissional e o impacto das instituições da terceira idade. Resultados: verificou-se que os animadores socioculturais consideram a prática das atividades importantes nestas instituições, contribuindo de forma positiva para a qualidade de vida das pessoas idosas. A animação sociocultural parece ter um impacto positivo na qualidade dos serviços, sendo fator diferenciador entre as instituições. Constitui, por isso, instrumento de promoção empresarial/institucional. Conclusão: O impacto das atividades parece ser bastante positivo na melhoria da qualidade das respostas sociais e atividades oferecidas. Resumen. Objetivo: Analizar el impacto que tienen las actividades de animación sociocultural en la calidad de los servicios prestados a las personas mayores, tal como la perciben los respectivos profesionales de la animación sociocultural. Se pretende comprobar la importancia que la profesión revela tener en la calidad de las instituciones y las respuestas sociales en el contexto de la vejez y el envejecimiento saludable. Metodología: Se realizó un diagnóstico a nivel nacional sobre el contexto laboral de los animadores socioculturales, su práctica profesional, expectativas sobre el futuro de la actividad, la calidad e impacto de sus prácticas profesionales en el contexto de las personas mayores. La muestra de 134 animadores socioculturales respondió un cuestionario en línea sobre la práctica profesional y el impacto de las instituciones para personas mayores. Resultados: se encontró que los animadores socioculturales consideran importante la práctica de actividades en estas instituciones, contribuyendo positivamente a la calidad de vida de las personas mayores. La animación sociocultural parece tener un impacto positivo en la calidad de los servicios, siendo un factor diferenciador entre instituciones. Es, por tanto, un instrumento de promoción empresarial / institucional. Conclusión: El impacto de las actividades parece ser bastante positivo en la mejora de la calidad de las respuestas sociales y las actividades ofrecidas. Abstract. Objective: To analyze the impact that sociocultural animation activities have on the quality of services provided for the elderly, as perceived by the respective sociocultural animation professionals. It is intended to verify the importance that the profession reveals to have in the quality of institutions and social responses in the context of old age and healthy aging. Methodology: A nationwide diagnosis was carried out on the work context of sociocultural animators, their professional practice, expectations regarding the future of the activity, the quality and impact of their professional practices in the context of the elderly. The sample of 134 sociocultural animators answered an online questionnaire about professional practice and the impact of elderly institutions. Results: it was found that sociocultural animators consider the practice of activities important in these institutions, contributing positively to the quality of life of the elderly. Sociocultural animation seems to have a positive impact on the quality of services, being a differentiating factor between institutions. It is, therefore, an instrument for business/institutional promotion. Conclusion: The impact of activities seems to be quite positive in improving the quality of social responses and activities offered.

Se aborda además su inserción en la titilación licenciatura de estudios socioculturales, desde 1999 en la Universidad de Cienfuegos, Cuba; y se analizan y valoran las investigaciones socioculturales realizadas en la región desde la perspectiva de la antropología sociocultural, a partir de sus métodos y categorías fundamentales.

<p><strong>Resumo:</strong> Defendemos que se um espaço se torna exclusivamente focado no turismo, pode perder a sua vida, sendo abandonado e desinteressante para população local e externa. Assim, este artigo busca analisar – a partir de pesquisas empíricas (com a população local) e bibliográficas –quais aspectos precisam estar presentes em espaços comerciais de artesanato da cidade de Recife, Pernambuco, Brasil para permitir a consolidação da dinâmica sociocultural local, possibilitando à população local ter mais espaços percebidos como lugares, por acomodar suas vivências socioculturais, além de incrementar o turismo.</p><p><strong>Palavras-chave:</strong> Artesanato – Espaços comerciais de artesanato – Vivências socioculturais – Identificação sociocultural.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstract:</strong> When a space becomes exclusively focused on tourism, it can lose its life and become unattractive to and abandoned by both local and external populations. As such, this paper aims to analyze the features that need to be present in handicraft commercial spaces to facilitate consolidation of the local sociocultural dynamic. Toward this end, this study conducted bibliographic and empirical research (via the local population) on the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. In addition to boosting tourism, accommodating the sociocultural experiences of the local population enables them to have more spaces actually perceived as places.</p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> Handicrafts – Handicraft commercial spaces – Sociocultural experiences – Sociocultural identification.</p>

Este artigo é parte de uma pesquisa de dissertação de mestrado intitulada O ‘outro’ na interação entre aprendizes de L2 com vistas à autonomia sociocultural (ROSA, 2015). O objetivo do trabalho de campo foi entender e analisar de que forma a construção da autonomia sociocultural de aprendizes de L2 pode (ou não) ser propiciada por meio da interação entre os pares ao realizarem uma tarefa em sala de aula. Por autonomia sociocultural, no presente trabalho lançamos mão da proposta de Oxford (2003), em que autora propõe duas versões socioculturais de autonomia: sociocultural I, em que o desenvolvimento da autonomia ocorre na interação com o outro e por meio da mediação com o par mais experiente e, sociocultural II, cujo objetivo principal não é a autonomia em si, mas a participação na comunidade de prática. A análise das interações entre aprendizes do 9° ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola municipal da rede pública no Estado do Rio de Janeiro mostrou que apesar de por meio da interação os aprendizes terem a oportunidade de colaborar, trocar ideias, negociar significados etc., favorecendo o desenvolvimento da autonomia sociocultural, dificuldades, conflitos e tensões também podem surgir durante esse processo.

Background: The purpose of this article is to examine the contributions, gaps, and normativity problems in mainstream sociocultural theories, curriculum theory, and educational leadership studies, considering reflective education theories that provide a less normative alternative. Framework: Our framework introduces reflective education for social change as a less normative perspective, contrasted with two dominant sociological perspectives: social reproduction and social transformation. Within each of these perspectives, we consider consonant curriculum theories and educational leadership studies that have developed in disparate fields. Research Methods/Approach: This study utilized data from a previous qualitative study that examined a high-performing high school/district in a working-class, increasingly diverse community. Data sources featured field notes and interviews. We acknowledge the limitations of the interpretive paradigm that framed this study, suggesting the need for a new research paradigm. Illustrative Examples From the Findings: Participants primarily considered education as preparatory for existing social norms and values through their long-standing curriculum system. Reliance on neoliberal policy discourses contributed to an institutionalized “culturally neutral” curriculum system that often reinforced deficit views of diverse students. Leaders had awareness of social changes but often missed opportunities for mediation and reflection. Thus, reflective education for social change may be useful to move beyond the normativity problems of social reproduction and transformation. Implications: When leaders apply reflective education perspectives to their praxis, they transcend existing norms and values. Importantly, the future is an open question, thus avoiding the normativity problems of dominant sociocultural perspectives. Implications are provided for theorizing, research, leadership preparation, and practice.

As complex phenomena of social and cultural experience, sociocultural stereotypes manifest in behav­ioural, material and verbal spheres. Notable advances in the study of various aspects of sociocultur­al stereotypes in humanities have not eliminated the necessity of their study in research paradigm of cognitive-linguistics that incorporates psycholinguistic methods within interpretative framework. An in-depth study of sociocultural stereotypes requires rigorous empirical investigation of language evidence received from competent speakers in experimental situations. The experimental work provides a high level of empirical accuracy to verify emotional evaluation and pragmatic presuppositions conveyed by sociocultural stereotypes. The aim of this study was to unveil the meaning of a sociocultural stereotype flapper in contemporary culture and to model its cognitive structure on results of associative exper­iment. This sociocultural stereotype was chosen for its importance in changing standards of women behaviour in modern American culture. Flappers were young and daring American women, whose look and behaviour were criticised rigorously by traditionalists. An associative experiment conducted in the Lock Heaven College of Pennsylvania University showed the stereotype of flappers, though emerged in 1920s, still exists in national consciousness as a stereotypical image and a symbol of the epoch. The work contributes to the methodology of systematising experimental data in cognitive-linguistic research.

Purpose The purpose of the paper is to build a sociocultural perspective of brand revitalization. Maintaining brands and bringing them back to life in the market has received much less interest than their creation. Moreover, the existing literature is dominated by the marketing management paradigm where the company’s role is emphasized. This paper addresses the phenomenon of brand revitalization from a sociocultural perspective and examines the role of consumer collectives in the process. Design/methodology/approach Using a data-driven approach, the study builds on the case of a consumer brand of footwear that has risen to unprecedented popularity without traditional marketing campaigns. Data were generated using an inductive theory building approach utilizing multiple methods, including interviews, participant observation and cultural materials. Findings The paper presents a conceptual model of cultural brand revitalization that has four stages: sleeping brand, spontaneous appropriation, diffusion and convergence. Practical implications Implications for companies in consumer markets are discussed, suggesting ways to facilitate the process of sociocultural brand revitalization. Originality/value The paper contributes to the literature first by offering a sociocultural brand revitalization scenario that highlights the interplay between the actions of consumers and the company, second, by examining the interaction between the symbolic meanings associated with the brand and the practices used by consumers and, third, by offering insights into the relevance of national identity in creating brand meaning.

Este artículo estudia la comunidad de Cahuapanas, Puerto Bermúdez (Pasco), donde el ordenamiento jurídico se da a través de las prácticas socioculturales y políticas a nivel comunal. En lo sociocultural se da mediante la interiorización de normas y cumplimiento de valores y principios culturales, y en lo político, a nivel comunal, las obligaciones que están conectadas con el ámbito comunal y territorial. Las instancias estatales, por otra parte, se basan en el criterio del monismo jurídico, que no está al alcance sociocultural del pueblo asháninka del Pichis. Esta situación genera insatisfacción entre operadores de la justicia estatal y de las comunidades.

Descrever as caraterísticas socioculturais de adolescentes provenientes de gangues que frequentam o programa tribos urbanas, e a partir dessas analisar a influência deste para gênese de representações sociais sobre o alcoolismo. Estudo descritivo-exploratório com abordagem qualitativa com realização de aplicação de um formulário sociocultural. Na sua maioria eram do sexo masculino e fizeram curso profissionalizantes após o inserção no programa tribos urbanas. Deve-se considerar a relevância do perfil sociocultural dos adolescentes, pois é nessa hambiente que se forma suas representações sociais. O material produzido permitiu a discussão sobre o universo dos adolescentes que estão no grupo de risco para o uso de drogas licitas e ilícitas.

BACKGROUND: Stunting is a chronic malnutrition due to insufficient nutrition for a long period of time. This condition results the child to not having a proper body height in his age and raises risks for short and long term. North Sumatra, Indonesia, is one area with frequent number of stunting incidences, especially in the regency of Langkat. Socioculture is one of the factors that are closely related to stunting since it is related to the care method of infants and children, including the fulfillment of food and family nutrition. Therefore, failing to provide these supports will cause stunting to emerge. AIM: This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between sociocultural factors and babies and toddler with stunting, particularly in Langkat Regency, Indonesia. METHODS: This study is a descriptive correlation using survey to determine the sociocultural relationship of the community to the incidence of stunting in Langkat district, especially the Secanggang subdistrict. Using total sampling method, 136 family/parents that have babies/children were chosen. Data were collected through questionnaires, which consisted of demographic data, sociocultural data, and health status. Furthermore, data analysis was performed using Chi-square statistical test, while multivariate test analysis was conducted through logistic regression. RESULTS: This research discovers and confirms that social-cultural factors have a significant effect as the cause of stunting. CONCLUSION: The sociocultural factors which were related to stunting are environmental sanitation, parents educational background, family income, and mother’s knowledge. Therefore, further and comprehensive study on sociocultural is needed to be performed to overcome stunting in community.

The process of second-language teaching is grounded in the sociocultural theory of Vygotsky, which emphasizes meaningful interaction among individuals as the greatest motivating force in human development and learning. In this theoretical framework, the concepts of meaning and mediation are considered as the two essential elements affecting an individual’s learning of a second language. Suggestions are offered for enhancing students’ second-language learning in their regular classrooms by applying sociocultural theories to practice. Although Hungary joined the European Union in 2004, it seems that it has not yet been able to catch up with its Western European neighbors socioeconomically. The reasons for this are numerous, including the fact that this former historical region (Kingdom of Hungary), today the sovereign state of Hungary, has a specific sociocultural image and attitude formed by various historical events. And the nature of these events can explain why Hungary’s economic development and overarching political narrative differ so markedly from Western Europe. The aim of this article is to present the unique location of Hungary in the context of Central and Eastern Europe, and to address such factors as urbanization and industrialization, migration, population, politics, economic development, and social values crisis. We argue that these factors, including the European status quo that emerged after 1945, have influenced the existing sociopolitical, socioeconomic, and sociocultural differences between Hungary and Western European EU states.

The aim of this paper is to present an overview of textbook research at the Institute of psychology, intended to postulate socio-cultural approach to textbook. Shifting the textbook from classical pedagogical-psychological context into the broader and more inspiring cultural context, has led to the conceptualization of textbook as a cultural-supportive system of individual development. We consider firstly, the theoretical background of this conception, founded in Vygotskian idea of cultural mediation of development and then, its operationalization through the concept of cultural-supportive tools. The transfer from theory to practice is presented through the most important practical implications, such as defining the genre specificities of textbook and principles of educational design of textbooks. As a distinctive issue, we also consider the way this approach to textbook (theoretical articulation, analytical concepts, and practical implications) contributes to development of socio-cultural paradigm in psychology.

The instability of the current situation and the forced search for oneself in the world of “current modernity”, by a requirement in forming in the process of socialization, authentication of personality able to be commuted from one identity to other. Target. The subject of the author’s attention will be an analysis of the dynamics of identity formation in a historical context that has gone from “We” to “I” and “I’”. Methodology and methods. The research is based on three scientific paradigms: 1) symbolic interactionism; 2) discursive approach; 3) sociology of knowledge. Results. The dynamics of identity formation in the history of mankind has gone through at least three stages, in the direction from “We”, when the problems of adaptation to the environment came to the fore. As the division of labor intensifies and the transition from polytheism to monotheism, a lot of “we” are added to the “We”-identity, associated with different spheres of society and human life, and the class structure of society rigidly fixed the subject within society and prescribed identity and led identification. New time gave a rise to “I”-identity, which was characterized by the desire to create a holistic personality, responsible for their actions. In the twentieth century, after the war, an “I’”-identity was formed, where there was no stable core, due to that the subject was in the process of transition from one self to another, and that brought a certain chaos into his life. Conclusion. The history of identity formation is a continuous process of transition from “We”-identity, based on an imitation, to “I”-identity, formed on the base of processes of educating, and “I’” identity, based on the processes of switching (transition) from one identity to other.

The article analyzes two approaches to explaining the American Revolution. The first belongs to Irina Zhezhko-Brown, who in her works examines the features and formation of social technologies created by the left in the United States, their application in the struggle for power, the transformation of the consciousness and behavior of social subjects, the emasculation of the original democratic principles and other social processes. Vadim Rozin, being not only a methodologist, but also a culturologist, outlines another explanation - culturological. At the same time, he puts forward a hypothesis according to which modernity is a complex double process of a parallel crisis of the culture of modernity and the emergence of “postculture”, which for the time being is manifested for researchers in the trends of sociality. The author of the article considers it necessary to consider the American Revolution by combining both approaches (from the point of view of social sciences and cultural studies), that is, to implement a sociocultural approach and discourse. For this, he first characterizes the social and cultural approaches separately. If the selection and characterization of culture presupposes procedures for comparing different cultures, analysis of the integrity of culture and an invariant vision of the world, then sociality is set by the processes of directed social change, management and power. Then, relying on the material of the reconstruction of the modern American revolution, which was proposed by I. Zhezhko-Brown, the author outlines a sociocultural explanation. In particular, he claims that the successes of the quiet and invisible for many “step-by-step American revolution” can be explained not only by effective social technology and the connivance of the ruling class, but also by the fact that guided social changes are taking place against the background of parallel processes of the completion of modernity and the formation of post-culture.

The purpose of the article is further generalization of animation sociocultural activities management within the context of general theory and practice of culture management and characteristic features of realization of contemporary cultural practices, investigation of ASCA management within the context of general culture processes management system under conditions of destabilization of society. The methodology. Based on the systematic approach, contemporary culture management analysis method and sociocultural animation con-cepts generalization method were used. Connection between culture management and animation acti-vities was explicated. Synthesis of scientific stances enables proposing a new take on general and specific aspects of managing contemporary sociocultural animation. Comparison of scientific stances enables uncovering development prospects of culture practices in the post-crisis period and provides an opportunity to propose their transformation direction. The results. Investigation of animation sociocultural activities management within contemporary scientific and practical contexts is multi-leveled (broad and narrow context). Connection to applied cultural studies enables analyzing ASCA management as maintenance of quality of sociocultural interaction, creation of organizational conditions for invigorating society subjects and regulating culture-creating being in the post-crisis period. Connection of different culture management levels enables implementation of the animation effect of sociocultural activities in various constituents of a respective field (teaching, recreation, tourism etc.). Effectiveness of regulating sociocultural animation depends on systematic view on its performance under conditions of contemporary culture senses creation, coherence of management and integration levels of means of animation, coordination of performance of main management functions, taking into account its specificity within the culture space, and ensuring adherence to animation activities principles. The scientific topicality. Contemporary global challenges (pandemics, military conflicts, total informatization) upon encountering permanent issues of society (socioeconomic troubles, ideological rigidity and value instability) become not only causes for change of a culture model, but also cause a search for productive innovative answers, which will become the basis for further culture-creation in the post-crisis period. Effectiveness of the idea of animation in the sociocultural field was proven both in theoretical research and thanks to realization of cultural practices. It is known that animation is the synonym for invigoration, sometimes even identified as social creativity, and is a factor of overcoming social extinction and alienation. The practical significance. Culture management enables not only realization of management functions, but also accompanies motivation of subject stance, hastens interaction in the culture field, supports and leads to carrying out initiative in a sociocultural space. Innovative approaches to sociocultural animation are brought into being through topical practices, which require thorough planning, organization, coordination and effectiveness control. Thanks to culture management, not only technical and material resources for activation of animation idea through understanding, explaining, promoting and realizing it in specific actions are regulated, but also intellectual, creative and information ones as well, which modernizes contemporary sociocultural processes.

Infertility is perceived differently across socio-cultural contexts and studies have shown these perceptions affect the overall management of infertility. This study specifically explored the sociocultural definition and perceived cause of infertility among married infertile persons experiencing primary infertility in Kwara South, Nigeria. The study adopted a qualitative exploratory design. Snowball sampling technique was used to recruit infertile persons for this study. Data was collected through in-depth interviews of 13 infertile married women and 7 infertile men. The data was analyzed using conventional content analysis with the aid of Atlas.ti 7. Findings showed that infertility is defined as barrenness and childlessness. It is perceived as an undesirable private marital problem and not a disease. Infertility is believed to be men and women problem. However, it is assumed to be primarily caused by women. Sociocultural factors rather than biomedical factors were exalted as primary causes of infertility. These include lifestyle choices or habits like worldliness (waywardness/promiscuity, alcoholism, substance abuse and diet); sociocultural beliefs centered on dirtiness, abortion, curses, spiritual oppression, witchcraft/sorcery, wrong mate selection, trial and punishment from God. Rape, menstrual disorder and low sperm count were also reported. Understanding these perceptions will enhance the development of culture-specific programs targeted at managing infertility in Nigeria.

Consanguinity is usually defined as the result of a sexual reproduction between two related individuals. It can also refer to populations sharing at least one common ancestor, as those who live within isolates or within communities practicing endogamy. Second or higher order related couples and their offspring represent more than 10% of the current world population. The highest levels of consanguinity are found in the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean Basin, and the most concerned region extends from the southern shore of the Mediterranean Sea to Southeast Asia through Middle-East, Gulf and India. In Maghreb countries, consanguineous marriages are wide-spread. The rates for this practice vary from 23% in Morocco to 60% in Tunisia, with highest rates being found in rural areas. In Algeria, consanguineous marriages represent more than 38% of all marriages. Large scale migrations from South countries to North countries in the second half of the twentieth century had legal impact on migrants for these specific unions. As a consequence, controversies have been rising in the United States and the United Kingdom especially when a fast decrease of inter-related individuals unions seems unlikely. Consanguinity certainly increases the risk of autosomal recessive pathology, but what about mental pathologies with complex and polygenic heredity? The necessity of an awareness of the genetic risks of consanguinity is as essential in countries where inter-cousin unions are culturally encouraged as among migrant populations in Europe.

Diante da ideia difundida de que as causas do “fracasso escolar” dos estudantes dos meios populares são consideradas inerentes ao seu meio sociocultural de origem o propósito deste trabalho é apresentar um Estudo de Caso que demonstra que estes estudantes podem superar o paradigma culturalista e a teoria das “carências socioculturais” e alcançar resultados satisfatórios. Assim, o arcabouço teórico apoia-se nos estudos de Bourdieu, Charlot, Lahire, entre outros. O Estudo de Caso foi desenvolvido através de entrevistas semiestruturadas envolvendo o estudo da configuração familiar, origem sociocultural e econômica, trajetória escolar, relação com o saber e, por fim a motivação e mobilização no que diz respeito ao ingresso no Ensino Superior público destes educandos. Dentre os resultados obtidos, há de se destacar a relação positiva que os mesmos possuem com a escola e a influência do processo de socialização na constituição dos mesmos enquanto sujeitos, o que os modelos estatísticos de explicação dos fenômenos de “sucesso” e “fracasso” desconsideram.
